I purchased a used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. The seller claimed the mileage was around 76,800 at the time of sale. After the purchase, a vehicle history report (Carfax/AutoCheck) showed that the actual mileage was approximately 223,000. This means the odometer reading was rolled back or misrepresented. The title paperwork shows a false mileage disclosure. This problem puts consumers at risk because the true condition of the vehicle is hidden, making it unsafe to rely on maintenance records or expected performance. It is also a violation of federal odometer laws. The issue has been confirmed by the vehicle history report, and all documents are available for inspection if requested.
While driving down the road my car randomly shifts into neutral and won’t start back, when I finally get it to start back it won’t shift
The car will randomly throw itself into neutral and i will completely lose all power. got a diagnostics done and it is the transmission control module. the part is currently on back order because so many cars are having the same issue as mine.
Defrost not working (HVAC)
While driving on the interstate suddenly my jeep switched gears I was able to put back in drive and pull over. After pulling over and jeep being put in park it wouldn’t go back into drive, after 3 attempts turning car off and back on again it finally shifted to drive. I was able to at least get home and put it in garage. It now will not go into reverse at all, I try frequently, this happened a few months ago, I also called and reported issue but was never told I had to get online and fill out a form etc. I can’t afford to pay for this big of a repair. It seems this issue has occurred on several 2014 jeeps. This was extremely scary and unsafe to say the least even more so with my kids in the car. Car unexpectedly shifted into neutral without me switching gears while driving.
I had a recall on the dash of my Jeep due to the leather wrinkling.I had very slight wrinkling, so I honored the recall and took it to the dealership. They replaced the leather which seemed to fix the problem, well WRONG, they put the leather down with no adhesive to keep it in place. Long story short, it began having some puckering in the middle,now the whole dash looks like a wrinkled bed sheet and its totally lifted along the bottom of the windshield, which has caused my defrost vent to lift out of place and resricts airflow. This resricts my visibility when the defrost cannot blow accurately. I took it back to the dealership to show them,and to tell them that it's worse than before I brought it to them, and if I had've known this would happen, I would have left it alone! I showed them that they Obviously didn't put adhesive under the leather, the just laid and tucked it! They said they couldn't repair it. I took it to get it assessed and as soon as he saw it, he said "This was OBVIOUSLY installed Wrong!"
The shifter has a manufacturer issue the car while it is accelerating throws itself into neutral on its own. The car could be in drive and it'll throw itself into sports mode on its own. It'll drop down the acceleration on its own as if it's shifting on its own. Car could be put into park and the shifter will throw it into neutral or in reverse. Contacted Chrysler they refusing to honor the recall cleaning there's an expiration date. This has been reported to you guys many people have the same issue ( 19V447) I literally almost died with what the shifter is doing and I need them to honor their recall this is a safety hazard that can kill or answer anyone easily

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The passenger-side Active Headrest of my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee exploded as I was driving last week. After inspecting it myself, it appears that the plastic parts that hold the headrest together broke. This seems to be a common problem after googling the issue. It is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This could have caused a head injury. I am worried that if the driver's side headrest explodes while I am driving that it could cause injury or cause me to crash. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The dealership I spoke to said that the warranty had been extended for these active headrests (So it is a known issue) but that extension is expired so I would have to pay out of pocket to have them replaced. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? This happened spontaneously with no warning.
The problem with my vehicle is with emissions system which was covered under the Ecodiesel Extended Warranty lawsuit the EPA filed against the manufacturer Stellantis. My jeep has been down at Crystler Dodge Jeep Ram dealerships for 2 years. The extended warranty states they would repair problems, but they have not. I was told today that they will only give me 8741 for my car but they want to keep it. I’ve had to go to the hospital twice from the first dealership that had my car for a whole year giving me carbon monoxide poisoning. I’ve been paying full coverage insurance for 2 years. This manufacturer has placed and is placing me in a hardship. They said they would/ coukd repair my car and stayed in writing they would have certified techs working on my car, they had the parts manager working on my car and almost killed me. Now, their leadership is trying to bully me into selling them my car for this low ball amount. Why didn’t they offer to buyback before putting me through 2 years of hell. Is it Leah’s to breach a binding legal contract they agreed to honor. I am aware they are to suffer penalties for not honoring the warranty, and for not keeping databases updated by VIN. I was told my parts weren’t covered for months, I had to constantly show them the warranty said the parts were covered they trying to charge me for. I want my vehicle fixed under the extended warranty. I want compensation for this excessive time, and for them not honoring the consent decree they told the EPA and NHTSA they would honor. Please help me get my vehicle fixed under my extended warranty. My car is covered til 199,189 miles or May 13, 2024. I really need help, the manufacturer is not adhering to the consent decree they promised the government and NHTSA they would.
Unknown the engine rattles when accelerating on to the expressway and my side view. Mirrors passenger and driver side does not operate properly
While driving vehicle shifts into neutral and displays a low voltage message. I was young 75 mph down the high way and the car shifted into neautral without indication that anything is happening.
In Aug my warning light came on, I called Mopar was given a case number it was not until October that I was contacted after repeatedly calling for status. The is was the EGR Cooler which Mopar showed had been replaced when recall issued, I was advised by Stellantis to have towed to dealer, it was towed Oct 15, dealer advised it was replaced a few years earlier but I provided proof it had not, dealer then replaced but then advised it could not be cranked due to not holding coolant, it was not doing this prior to being towed. I then asked for the outstanding recalls to be completed, they advised no parts…I see now one is showing incomplete that should have been done, the other is a problem with part, I called after receiving a letter those parts were in and they said they were not, I then called you and was advised I am on a list to have this completed. I have been having to rent cars to get me to dr appointments since August. It is currently in the shop having the DPF r
Within 48 hours, I experienced two issues: First, we were driving on the highway at a speed of 75 mph when suddenly the front driver's side tire pressure indicator began to ramp up and eventually topped out at 86. We stopped to check the tire pressure at a gas station, and it was really 41. We got back on the highway and the pressure gauge continued to decrease / increase with no rhyme or reason. It eventually went back to the correct pressure. A few days later, we were driving on the highway at 75 mph with the navigation set for an address that was about 60 minutes away. Quite randomly, the navigation voice came on and said "re-route" and wanted us to take a right turn (there was no way to turn or anywhere we could go). Bizarre! It seems like the car's circuitry/sensors are failing. It's alarming.
It has happened twice in 48hrs, driving then all of sudden indicates not in gear. Pull over , will not go back in gear. Will have to wait. Then later on starts. Then is no indication no warning. This is extremely life threatening.
When vehicle has not been sitting overnight or a long period, the initial start does not engage. My mechanic referred to it as a long cold start. To work around this I will push the start button with my foot off the break pedal and let vehicle cycle through whatever. I can then start as normal. Using the key fob the startup happens cleanly. My mechanic said there is a complicated TSB on this issue but I am unable to locate. They have verified it’s not a fuel pressure issue.
I own a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5,7 summit trim, I've been experienced a very scary situation with this car on last 4 months, with no warnings this vehicle completely shuts-off, with no power, no radio, no dash lights. For few times happened on my drive way, but most the times I was on highway running between 45 to 70 mph, its come from the blue. But after the engine stops, it just restart like nothing had happened, no lights on dash no warnings. I left this truck on sandy Sansing dealer ( Milton Florida (850)6236866 like 4 times, they replace few sensors and update software on first time, but day after I was there again, and again and again. Now, they have my car o shop for over 40 days but they can find or replicate de issue, of course to replicate the issue you need to drive the car, and according with then they drove the car for 50 miles with no issues( and of course nobody wants to drive a car that can stops in any minute ). I ask the Dealer if a fuel pump could cause that, they had no clue, but they gave me a price for replace both, so at this point I'm extremely frustrate, cause I've a car with a brand new engine that always was serviced on Jeep Dealer, that I can't use and who has all technical capability is incompetent to fix. I saw lots of cases like mine on internet. I could get someone or my self kill. Any help is deeply appreciate
We were driving on the freeway doing about 70mph when without warning the glass sunroof exploded. Not knowing what had happened we pulled over and opened the shade slider and glass rained into the vehicle. Had the shade not been closed, all the passengers would have been hit with flying glass. We did not see anything that would indicate something hit the vehicle; it seemed to just explode for no reason.
I've been experiencing an issue with the brakes on the vehicle not operating properly since 2022. The vehicle does not brake normally, and the brake pedal must be pressed completely down to the floor, or pumped repeatedly before the vehicle begins to slow, and when it does slow, the brakes are less than responsive. There have been several instances where despite allowing extra stopping distance and pressing the brakes all the way to the floor, the vehicle does not stop normally, and I've come dangerously close to being involved in a collision as a result. I've reported these issues to Jeep in the past when the vehicle was there for service, but it was not adequately evaluated. I replaced both front and rear brake pads and rotors, only to have the issue continue. On 6/27/23 when my vehicle was in the body shop for unrelated repairs, the body shop conducted a brake diagnosis and confirmed the stiff break pedal when attempting to brake. They verified the appropriate vacuum at brake booster and vacuum sensor, and disconnected the brake booster sensor and smoke tested the brake booster to find smoke leaking into the main cabin area. They recommended replacing the brake booster assembly with water shed per TSB, and re-checking. They noted that the Vacuum brake booster has failed, and TSB is available in regards to installing water shield with new brake booster, under safety recall T59/NHTSA 17V-572. Once body work was completed, we took the vehicle to Perkins Jeep for the open recalls and requested repair of the brake booster, but were told this isn't a Jeep problem, and that it should have been taken care of at the body shop under insurance-- even though this brake issue was pre-existing to the body damage to the vehicle. Jeep states they do not have the OEM parts to repair this issue and other open recalls at this time, and there is a waiting list.
Passenger side (front) deployed randomly. There was no collision or impact when it deployed nor was there a passenger occupying it luckily.

The hood ltah keeps sticking when we close the hood, it has been greased and still does not work properly. the hood almost flew open on the expressway.

My vehicle ignition button got pushed into the dash and I was unable to start or stop my vehicle from running.
While stopped at a drive-through with my foot on my break, my head rest exploded, forcing my head forward. There was no accident and it deployed at random. The passive restraint system failed. Had vehicle been in motion it would’ve been a public safety risk. Appointment at the service center of the dealership has been made. It has not yet been inspected.
In reference to recall W79/20V-699, to date I have attempted on four (4) occasions to have the recall addressed by my dealership, Gettel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Punta Gorda, Florida without success. I have even contacted corporate about the problem to no avail. Is there anything you can do to force them to follow through on the recall repair?

My son started the Jeep Monday morning and the engine light came on which has never happened before. Then something occurred under the hood and there was a fire. Luckily my son was able to get to a garden hose and put out the fire but now I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has fire damage and needs to be taken into a Jeep dealership for repairs. I have only had the vehicle for a little over 2 years.
On several occasions, while driving between 30 - 70 miles per hour - car goes into neutral by itself leaving you trying to steer the car to the side of the road under multiple risky situations. When pulled over - car can be put into park but if your foot is on the brake pedal the car sputters and won't shut off until brake pedal is released. You can still steer the car to the side of the road but no acceleration is possible. Restarting the car isn't possible for about 20 - 30 minutes. Most occurrence have happened on the interstate. There are no warning signs prior to the occurrences and it's extremely scary trying to get to safety. Diagnostics have been completed by Jeep dealerships and other repair shops and it's been stated all recalls have been made to this car in the past. The fact the car goes into neutral itself is scary. The most recent event puts the total of occurrences at 15 since I have owned the car. No one seems to have an explanation --all I know is its very dangerous especially on the freeway. I would like to know what can be done to get this resolved before someone get hurt.
The head rest on the passenger side has dismantled. I believe it’s an air bag system but am not too sure. The cushion and the plastic part have split and show a few wires. I have not been in any type of collision for the head rest to go ahead and give out like that.
My vehicle has a recall with the parts not available, I crash without prior warning, and injured. I have contact FCA US and other customer care numbers provided. My vehicle was repaired for the outer damage due to the collision, but my vehicle does not pass emission due to parts not being available. My car is drivable with very little power and can only drive a very low speed and locally. I have called about this matter for over a month and afraid that I will get in to another accident. I have not received information on when parts will be available. I had it checked and most probable other components require replacing due to the recall. This put me at risk and could have put my children at risk.
The AHR on the driver's side activated while the vehicle was parked and the driver was hit in the neck. Upon inspection, the plastic tabs that keep the pin in place, keeping the whole apparatus in the off position, broke off.
Uconnect NAV 8.4N updated to the latest firmware when purchased in July of 2020. Currently it will reboot randomly and go to a black screen. At which point it will blast the heater and the radio at full volume while driving. Extremely terrifying and dangerous. Uconnect says it’s not their problem as it is an 8 year old system. Seems like they should be held accountable for forcing drivers into a DISTRACTED driver situation. Repeatedly. So far the only fix I have found is to pull over immediately and restart the vehicle. I am about to purchase an aftermarket unit to replace this dangerous item that is also affecting the resale value of said vehicle.
The passenger headrest deployed because the pin plastic bracket has failed it released the headrest unexpectedly and can not be reset. Please advise this is dangerous!
On multiple occasions, after steady driving for approximately 1 hour the vehicle will suddenly begin decelerating. This has happened while driving in the highway. Once the car is stopped and turned off for approximately 10 minutes, the car will drive normally and accelerate to normal speeds.
The leather on the dashboard is de-laminating from the dash and pulling the grilles from their original positions.
The headrest spontaneously popped open and hit me hard in the back of the head while I was driving yesterday. This was dangerous for a number of reason, primary because it could have caused an accident but also the headrest hit me so hard that it seams as if i have a mild concussion. Last night i had a sever headache and neck strain and today I went home early from work for the same reason. It seems as if the problem has occurred to several others as well but no attempt has been made to inform drivers of this dangerous defect. The vehicle has not been inspected but I plan on taking it into my local jeep dealership. No warning was seen prior to the problem.
The engine oil and filter was recently changed and a few days later oil is now leaking down the engine bay onto the exhaust and onto the skid plates. The correct torque was used and oil filter seal as well as the drain plug are dry. The canister housing has either cracked or seals have failed on that part. It is a known issue with an upgraded part available from FCA. I did not notice it until arriving home after a 20 mile drive and oil was everywhere. this could have caused a fire as there was no warning and no expectation of a leak. Opened a case with FCA to report that this part has failed on my vehicle. Case #80756602
The passenger side headrest restraint clips seem to have broken or deployed spontaneously. The vehicle has not been in an accident and the headrest is rarely adjusted/used.
I have received notices about Recall W79/NHTSA 20V-699 "Important Safety Recall". I went to my local dealer and they told me the parts are not available. They said they would put me on a waiting list, but that I'm number 162 on the list and they are currently working a number from November of 2019. I called FCA to complain. They directed me to another dealer in the area. That dealer made an appointment and then canceled it due to no parts availability and said they'd put me "on the waiting list". They gave no time frame. I just received another notice urging me to get this urgent safety recall fixed. My take is that FCA is dragging their feet in hopes that the longer they delay, the less repairs they will have to do.

No warning messages,no check engine lights,only changed message on cluster Before it showed "press brake then press button to start engine" now it shows "press clutch ... to start engine".3 weeks back visited dealership(MotorWorld in Wilkes-Barre,PA) to fix last recall.After 2 days spent at dealership,nothing happened, recall was not completed.Accident happened 7/7/21, next day vehicle was towed to dealership, set for diagnostic for Friday July 9,2021,and now it is sitting there for 10 days,with no information what exactly happened to vehicle
I currently own 2 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees that suffer from this issue, and found numerous complaints online regarding this dash board delamination issue. Back in 2020 we received a letter indicating that the dash was part of the X81 campaign to send in proof of repair to be reimbursed by the program, however, since we did not know we needed to take it in for this, the form was never completed as the repairs were never done. (this repair is over 2000$ of which we do not have due to covid and the shut down of my wife job) Then I purchased another 2014 in which the dash was in way worse shape. I was under the impression that due to the previous letter that the repair should be covered under the X81. however, the dealer has informed me that the extension was only good for 6 months. On top of that, the parts are taking up to 1-2 years to receive. Also, if I had owned my SRT Jeep back when this campaign was done, given the current condition, I would have had the repair done or had ordered the parts for it. It is my thoughts that this dash, being as common as this is, should be covered due to me not owning the vehicle and the paperwork not being clear about the process could be completed by the dealer at no charge. To me it looked like I had to pay it, and would be reimbursed. I asked if they would be willing to sell me the part at a discounted rate, but the warranty department said there is nothing I could do. To me, this dash issue causes a driving distraction as the dash is in such poor shape, at least with my SRT, that i find myself looking at it, instead of the road.
MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 4X4 "S GRILLE COWL IS CRACKING SO BAD THAT IT IS MAKING A HOWLING NOISE WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT HAS BEEN GRADUALLY GETTING WORSE. IT IS TO THE POINT NOW THAT IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I FEEL IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY JEEP.

THE OIL FILTER HOUSING IS CRACKED AND IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE.ONE MORNING THERE WAS A LARGE AMOUNT OF OIL UNDER MY VEHICLE. YES IT WAS IN PARK AS INDICATED ON THE DASHBOARD. I HADN'T PUT THE PARKING BREAK ON AS I HAD JUST STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND WASN'T PLANNING ON STAYING PARKED. WE WERE IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH A VERY SLIGHT INCLINE. ALL TIMES (4 SO FAR) I HAD TO PUT MY FOOT ON THE BREAK TO STOP THE VEHICLE. ONCE MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE CAR AND JUMPED OVER TO SAVE HER LIFE BY PUTTING HER FOOT ON THE BREAK AS IT WOULD'VE WENT OVER THE SIDE OF A HILL. DRIVER SIDE SEATBELT MOTOR IS OUT RENDERING MY SEATBELT USELESS AND AIRBAGS. NO BEEPING IF SEATBELT IS NOT ON. I AM NOT PROTECTED AS SEATBELT MOTOR IS OUT. MY CAR WAS PARKED AND THE HEADREST ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND DEPLOYED. I HAVE NEVER BEEN REAR-ENDED/HAD MY CAR IN AN ACCIDENT, SO IT WOULD MAKE NO SENSE FOR THE HEADREST TO DEPLOY. MY CAR WAS PARKED AT THE TIME OF THE DEPLOYMENT.
THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN GOING DEAD WHILE TRAVELING MULTIPLE ,IT HAS IN DEALER REPAIR MULTIPLE TIMES. LAST FIX WAS REPLACING COMPUTER COSTING OVER $800. TWO DAYS LATER IT WENT DEAD WHILE A WAY DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. THAT HAS HAPPENS OVER 6 TIMES! WE REFUTED PAYING THAT BILL WITH DEALER IN MOUNTAIN HOME ARKANSAS. CAR HAS BEEN IN MY GARAGE SINCE THAT TIME. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN MOUNTAIN HOME AND THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED WITH A PLAN TO FIX THIS EXTREME DANGER. REAR HATCH DOOR DOES NOT STAY IN PLACE AFTER ELEVATING. HATCH DOOR OPENS AUTOMATICALLY AS IT SHOULD. THE HATCH THEN FALLS (CLOSES) QUICKLY AND HEAVILY WITHOUT INITIATION. VEHICLE WAS PARKED, ENGINE OFF, PARKED IN A PARKING SPACE AT THE GROCERY STORE THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED. OCCURS CONTINUOUSLY, HAS NOT RESOLVED. HATCH HAS FALLEN ON MY HEAD AND MY BACK.

WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAD REST EXPLODED AND HIT ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD. I HAVE A PRE-EXISTING CERVICAL FUSION IN MY NECK WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO BEND MY NECK. THE FORCE OF THE BLOW NEARLY CAUSED ME TO HIT THE DASHBOARD. I REPORTED IT TO OUR LOCAL JEEP DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS NOT A RECALL ITEM, AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED.

I RETURNED MY CAR TO THEM AND THIS TIME THEY CLAIMED THE SAME PROBLEM WAS AN ACTUATOR FOR $318.99. ONCE AGAIN; I GOT MY CAR BACK AND A/C IS STILL WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. THEY OBVIOUSLY DON'T KNOW HOW TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. FROM AN INTERNET SEARCH, I'VE FOUND OTHERS WHO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH JEEP A GRAND CHEROKEE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT WITH JEEP VEHICLES.

ONE OCCASION FUEL WAS DRIPPING INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AFTER REPAIR AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS SMOKING. ANOTHER OCCASION THE MANIFOLD WAS SMOKING. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE ONE CATCHES FIRE. THESE ARE SUVS USED TO HAUL FAMILIES.
MY 2014 DIESEL GRAND CHEROKEE HAS HAD EMISSIONS FOR THE PAST 3+ YEARS. ON 12/9/19 THEY CHANGED THE PARTICULATE FILTER AND RIGHT AFTER THAT THERE WAS EXHAUST SMELLS COMING THROUGH THE VENTS. THE DEALERSHIP ATTEMPTED TO FIX THIS SMELL IN LATE DECEMBER AND THEN AGAIN IN JANUARY. THEY FOUND A CRACKED VALVE COVER ON 1/10/20 AND FIXED THAT. I WAS THEN DRIVING THE CAR ON 1/12/20 AND IT STARTED ON FIRE AND WAS DESTROYED. CHRYSLER INVESTIGATED THE CRASH AND DETERMINED THAT IT WAS NOT A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM

AS OF THIS DATE I HAVE SUFFERED ONE NEAR MISS AND HAVE HAD TO SHUT OFF VOICE NOTICES TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM WITH THE RESULTANT NEED TO LOOK AT THE MAP AND NOT KEEP MY EYES ON THE ROAD. THE MATERIAL IS A PLASTIC METAL THAT IS VERY SHARP AND HAS CUT UP MY FINGERS OVER 10 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. BECAUSE THE DESIGN ROLLS IN AND DOWN LIKE A BACKWARDS C THE PLASTIC METAL HAS FRAYED FROM USE AND DOESN'T LAY FLAT OR SEALED TO THE CUP HOLDERS. EACH TIME THE CUP HOLDERS ARE USE THE CUPS GET CAUGHT ON THE CUP HOLDERS AND ALSO CUT THE CUPS. I HOPE A COFFEE CUP DOESN'T BREAK ON ME OR A PASSENGER IN THIS SITUATION AND BURN THEM. LESS THAN A MILE LATER, AS WE STARTED TO ACCELERATE ONTO THE HIGHWAY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND OUR VEHICLE'S INFORMATION CENTER DISPLAYED TWO SEPARATE DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF) RELATED WARNINGS. THE FIRST SAYING DEF NEEDED SERVICE/CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP, WHILE THE SECOND WARNING SAID WE COULD NOT RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER DRIVING ANOTHER 200 MILES. WE IMMEDIATELY FOUND A SAFE SPOT TO PULL OVER AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THE ACTING SERVICE MANAGER ADVISED US THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AS LONG AS THERE WERE NO OBVIOUS PERFORMANCE ISSUES. HE SAID IT WAS PROBABLY EMISSION RELATED, THAT WE WOULD BE OK IF WE DIDN'T DRIVE OVER 200 MILES. HE SAID GOING OVER 200 MILES MIGHT ABRUPTLY PUT THE VEHICLE INTO A "LIMP MODE"! WE WERE 150 MILES AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP BUT THE VEHICLE WAS OTHERWISE OPERATING NORMALLY, SO WE TOOK THE SERVICE MANAGER'S ADVICE AND DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. OUR JEEP IS AN OFF-ROAD, TRAIL-RATED, GO ANYWHERE VEHICLE DESIGNED TO BE USED OUT IN THE WILDERNESS/NATIONAL PARKS AS WELL AS ON THE HIGHWAY. IT IS AN UNACCEPTABLE SAFETY HAZARD FOR THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO HAVE CONTROL OVER STARTING BECAUSE OF AN EMISSION VIOLATION/PROBLEM. ESPECIALLY WHEN IN A REMOTE LOCATION WHERE A RELIABLE VEHICLE IS PARAMOUNT TO SAFETY. HAVE HAD THE WINDSHIELD SEALED AND IT'S STILL LEAKING. I BELIEVE THAT IT'S COMING IN FROM "A" PILLARS DOWN TO THE ROCKER PANEL SEAM SEAL. IT HAS CAUSED RUST TO FORM ON UNDER DASH COMPONENTS AND UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT. IT'S CAUSING ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS TO CORRODE AND TO ACT UP. ALSO THE CEL TO COME ON SAYING THAT ALL MODULES HAVE NO CONTACT WITH THE ECM/PCM. THE WATER LEAKS AS IT SITS OR EVEN WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.

JEEP REPLACED THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS A 2014, I PURCHASED AND RECEIVED IT IN MAY 2013. MY MILEAGE IS ABOUT 79,000. AT THE COST OF $3000.00 I HAD PURCHASED THE MOPAR LIFETIME MAXICARE WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD THIS COVERED EVERYTHING FOR THE VEHICLE AS LONG AS I OWNED IT EXCEPT FOR WEAR/TEAR ITEMS. AFTERWARDS, WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN THERE IS A DASHBOARD INTERNAL RATTLE/HUM THAT TOTALLY RESTRICTS ANY HEARING WHILE DRIVING ABOVE 40-50 MPH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED THE CENTER CONSOLE SPEAKER AND STATED THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE EVENT. IT IS SO LOUD IT DROWNS OUT ALL NOISES INSIDE AND OUT SUCH AS SIRENS. I HAVE JUST RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE. I ATTEMPTED TO MAKE THE APPT ON 3/10 THEY SCHEDULED ME FOR 4/3/19. I TOLD THEM THAT THE GAS TANK AGAIN WILL NOT TAKE MORE THAN 3-4 GALS OF GAS WHICH LEAVES ME WITH LESS THAN A HALF OF TANK, AND THAT THE RATTLE IS GETTING WORSE.THEY ASSURED ME THEY WOULD EXAMINE ALL THE ISSUES, BUT EVEN THOUGH I PURCHASED THE LIFETIME MAXICARE, I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE RATTLE AND PROBABLY THE GAS TANK ISSUE (EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE GAS TANK ISSUE CAUSE BEING THEIR VENTING ISSUE OF THE TANK). I HAVE RESEARCHED THE DASHBOARD RATTLE ON-LINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS POSTS FROM JEEP OWNERS OF 2013-2016 VEHICLES WITH THE SAFETY ISSUE. ESPECIALLY IF IT IS SO EXTREME IT DULLS SIREN SOUNDS FROM EMERGENCY VEHICLES.

NAVIGATION SYSTEM DISPLAYS INCORRECT INFORMATION. MAP IS 2012 FOR A 06/13 BUILD ON A 2014 VEHICLE. ALSO, RADIO SOFTWARE CANNOT BE UPDATED, WHICH IS NEEDED FOR MAP UPDATE. JEEP CLAIMS NEITHER IS A DEFECT OR FRAUD. NAVIGATION DISPLAYS INCORRECT ROADS (NAMES, LOCATIONS), SPEED LIMITS, AND INTERSECTION/JUNCTION INFORMATION. HUGE POTENTIAL FOR ACCIDENTS. PROBLEM WHEN IN MOTION.
WILL PUSH TO START WHILE MY FOOT ON BRAKE AND IT WILL NOT START. LIGHTS RADIO ALL INTERIOR WILL TURN ON BUT ENGINE WILL NOT START . IT HAPPENS AT FIRST ATTEMPT IN THE MORNING AND IT WILL HAPPEN AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY. IT COULD BE OFF FOR 15 MINUTES TO 5 HOURS AND IT WILL STALL THE SAME. ITS PARKED IN GARAGE, BUT ITS THE SAME IF I LEAVE OUTDOORS. THIS HAS BECOME AN EVERY DAY THING FOR THE LAST 3 OR 4 MONTHS.
BLIND SPOT MONITORING GOES OUT EVERY DAY. THE AMOUNT OF TIME FROM STARTING THE VEHICLE TO WHEN IT STOPS WORKING VARIES, FROM IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING THE CAR TO AS MUCH AS 30 MINUTES AFTER. THERE DOESN'T APPEAR TO BY ANY SPECIFIC SCENARIO CAUSING IT.

SEEN CYLINDER HEAD BEING REPLACED ON YEARS 2011-2013 BUT NOT FOR A 2014. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED. WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, IT HAD SEIZURE LIKE CONVULSIONS WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND WHILE IN IDLE UNTIL SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED. STILL RUNNING ROUGH, VERY SHAKING LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL OUT.

THE PASSENGER HEAD REST IN MY JEEP G C DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON AS THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ( ON THE CITY STREETS) FEW WEEKS AGO. THIS IS A SAFETY MECHANISM BUILD INTO THE JEEPS FOR SAFETY PURPOSES. NOT SO SAFE WHEN IT RANDOMLY DEPLOYED. IT WONDER WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE WILL DEPLOY HITTING ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD WHILE DRIVING.

WHEN REVERSING, THE BACK-UP CAMERA IMAGE SCREEN HAS A LONG DELAY OF 5 SECONDS OR MORE. BACKING MANEUVER USUALLY NEAR COMPLETION WHEN IMAGE FINALLY APPEARS. CAMERA IMAGE IS NOT AVAILABLE DURING THE UPDATE OR AFTER UPDATE COMPLETE AND NOT UNTIL NEXT IGNITION CYCLE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. NAVIGATION SYSTEM RARELY FUNCTIONS WHEN THE SCREEN IS AVAILABLE.
WHILE PARKED WITH THE VEHICLE OFF, I WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVER SEAT WHEN I SUDDENLY HEARD A LOUD BANG. I LOOKED ALL AROUND AND SAW THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT ON THE PASSENGER SEAT HAD EXPLODED. PLASTIC PIECES WENT FLYING OUT. THE SOUND WAS VERY LOUD AND STARTLING, AND THE INCIDENT OCCURED WITH NO PROVOCATION. THROUGH GOOGLE SEARCHES, MANY OTHER INCIDENCES OF THIS CAN BE SEEN HAPPENING. SOME PEOPLE HAVE THE HEAD RESTRAINT IMPACT THEIR HEAD WHILE DRIVING, WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED THEM TO WRECK. I AM TERRIFIED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WILL DO THE SAME THING, AND CAUSE ME TO WRECK DUE TO THE SHOCK OF BEING HIT IN THE HEAD. FURTHERMORE, THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 3.5 YEARS OLD AND UNDER 100,000 MILES. JEEP HAS STATED THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED AND THAT IT IS PART OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I ADAMENTLY DISSAGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT. THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINTS ARE HELD UNDER HIGH TENSION WITH A PIECE OF PLASTIC. WHEN THIS PIECE OF PLASTIC FATIGUES DUE TO THE STRESSES OF THE SPRING TENSION, THE HEADREST RELEASES. THIS IS A CLEAR DESIGN FLAW FROM THE FACTORY, AND IT NOT ONLY RESULTS IN LOSS OF FUNCTIONALITY, BUT COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH TO THE USERS OF THE VEHICLES. REPAIR COSTS ARE QUOTED AROUND $750.
THE JEEP NAVIGATION GPS SYSTEM HAS A FAULT THAT HAS CAUSED ME TO MAKE ABRUPT LANE CHANGES. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MY JEEP ON-BOARD GPS HAS ORDERED A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN VERBALLY BUT WHEN THE MAP WAS LOOKED AT IT WOULD INDICATE THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IF I LISTEN TO THE SPOKEN DIRECTIONS I MAY BE TURN THE WRONG WAY. IF I CONSULT THE MAP AFTER I BEGIN THE TURN I HAVE TO CROSS LANES. I HAVE NOT YET HAD AN ACCIDENT BUT HAVE HAD CLOSE CALLS. I HAVE ASKED TWO OTHER OWNERS OF JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES 2014 AND BOTH HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS
THE OIL COOLING SYSTEM STARTED LEAKING AT 50K MILES. I NOTICED A BURNING OIL SMELL COMING FROM THE VENTS. THAT NIGHT I HAD A SIGNIFICANT OIL LEAK UNDER THE CAR. AFTER TAKING THIS TO A SERVICE SHOP, THEY LET ME KNOW THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM.
ON MARCH 4, 2018 MY JEEP WAS PARKED, IN PARK, AT THE TOP OF A DRIVEWAY ON A SLIGHT GRADE. BY MORNING IT HAD ROLLED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY INTO A RAVINE, ROLLING TWICE. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER CONFIRMED IT WAS IN PARK. I NOW HAVE $20,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE WITHOUT A NEEDED SAFETY CHECK BEFORE REPAIRS CAN BE DONE, IF THAT'S EVEN POSSIBLE. NO ONE CAN EXPLAIN TO ME HOW A VEHICLE, IN PARK, CAN ROLL DOWN A HILL? NOT THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER, INSURANCE ADJUSTER OR BODY SHOP. MY JEEP HAS LOST ALL OF IT'S VALUE WITH THIS MISHAP. THE TOUCH SCREEN PANEL FOR MY RADIO GOES OUT AND DOES NOT ALLOW THE RADIO TO PLAY WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN FIRST STARTED. SOMETIMES MY BLUETOOTH DOESN'T CONNECT AT ALL. THREE MONTHS AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED THE SIRIUS RADIO STOPPED WORKING AND I WAS FORCED TO CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION. THE STATIONS CAME UP BUT NOTHING WOULD COME OUT OF THE SPEAKERS WHEN I WOULD SELECT THE BUTTONS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME SINCE MY WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $600 TO GET A NEW RADIO IF I REALLY WANTED THE SATELLITE RADIO. THEY SAID THE ANTENNA FOR THE SATELLITE RADIO HAD BURNT OUT. MY CAR WAS BARELY 3 1/2 YEARS OLD AT THAT TIME. SOMETIMES WHEN I CONNECT MY PHONE IT DOESN'T ALLOW ME TO SWITCH SONGS UNLESS I CHANGE IT THROUGH MY PHONE. THE WHOLE RADIO, BLUETOOTH, MEDIA SECTIONS ON MY TOUCH SCREEN HAVE GLITCHES.
WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE IN FOR ROUTINE SERVICE AND WERE INFORMED THAT WE NEEDED AN OIL COOLER AS WELL AS A RADIATOR. THE ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR IS $1300.00. THE VEHICLE IS NOT VERY OLD FOR THIS TYPE OF ISSUE.

THE SUNROOF ON MY 2014 JEEP GRANDE CHEROKEE SRT SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED AS I WAS DRIVING 70MPH ON INTERSTATE 5 IN OREGON. TRAFFIC WAS MINIMAL AT 3:45 PM. IT WAS 54 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR. IT HAD RAINED EARLIER IN THE DAY. THE EXPLOSION SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT BLAST IN MY EAR. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING, NO CRACKS, NO LEAKS. I DID HAVE THE AUTOMATIC COVER OPEN TO LET LIGHT IN, BUT THE SUNROOF ITSELF WAS CLOSED. THE GLASS EXPLODED UP AND OUT, SO I AM FORTUNATE THAT I ONLY HAD A DUSTING OF GLASS THAT FELL AROUND ME. DEFINITELY, THE MOST FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WHILE DRIVING.
THE ACTIVE HEAD REST FOR MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAD SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOYED WHILE PARKED IN MY GARAGE. I HAD TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND I WAS TOLD THE PLASTIC CLIPS WERE BROKEN AND IT COULDN'T BE RESET AND THE HEAD REST NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT A VEHICLE RECALL ISSUE BUT POSSIBLY SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO AS ONE. I HAVE FOLLOWED UP THIS TYPE OF ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND MULTIPLE CASES WITH SIMILAR OR THE EXACT TYPE OF ISSUE. THIS POSES A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD, IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING, AND THE HEADREST DEPLOYED IN THIS MANNER IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
I HAVE TAKEN MY JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES ALREADY. I HAVE ONLY OWNED IT FOR 3 MONTHS. ABOUT A MONTH OF THAT I HAVEN'T DRIVEN IT. BECAUSE ITS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR SO LONG. ITS SCARY ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE ARE SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I HAD THOUGHT I HAD BOUGHT A RELIABLE CAR BUT IT SEEMS THAT 30K HAS GONE TO WASTE AND MY HOOPTY WAS MORE RELIABLE. THE ENGINE ALSO SHAKES AND SOMETIMES IT'S STUCK IN THIRD GEAR! ITS EMBARRASSING AND SCARY TO PULL OUT IN FLOWING TRAFFIC. A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS CAME ON BEFORE BUT I HAVE STILL NOT "MET" THE REQUIREMENTS FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. THEY REPLACED THE VALVE BODY BUT IT ONLY DROVE SMOOTH FOR A FEW DAYS THEN WENT BACK TO JERK THE ENTIRE CAR AGAIN.

MY SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY AND WITHOUT CAUSE EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING AT 65MPH. ON THE INTERSTATE. THERE WAS NO WARNING AND THERE WERE NO HAZARDS ANYWHERE AROUND. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 92 DEGREES AND OVERCAST BUT NOT RAINING. CAUSE IS UNKNOWN.
WHEN I TRIED TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, THE IGNITION BUTTON FELL INTO THE DASHBOARD. I WAS ABLE TO REACH INTO THE DASHBOARD AND PRESS THE BUTTON SWITCH TO START AND STOP THE ENGINE. THE DEALER CLAIMED IT WAS THE OWNERS' FAULT BECAUSE "THE BUTTON WAS PUSHED TOO HARD" AND A REPLACEMENT HOLDING RING (NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY) ENDED UP COSTING $250 PLUS TAX.
BACK PANEL OF DUAL PANE MOON ROOF SHATTERS FOR NO REASON
THE AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT ON MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. THE DEALER'S SERVICE WRITER IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME THAT 85% OF THE TIME WHEN THE A/C GOES OUT IN THIS VEHICLE IT'S THE EVAPORATOR INSIDE THE CAR BEHIND THE DASH. UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION BY THE REPAIR TECHNICIAN THAT'S WHAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I ASKED IF THEY REPLACE THE EVAPORATOR WITH THE SAME PART AND HE SAID NO, THEY NOW USE A DIFFERENT SKU REPLACEMENT EVAPORATOR. OBVIOUSLY, JEEP IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAS MADE CHANGES TO FIX IT. HOWEVER, IN MY CASE JEEP WON'T PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT SAYING MY VEHICLE WITH 45,000 MILES IS PAST THE WARRANTY PERIOD. IT'S MY POSITION THAT JEEP USED A DEFECTIVE EVAPORATOR IN THE FIRST PLACE AND IT'S ONLY MY BAD LUCK THAT IT DID NOT START LEAKING FREON SOONER. APPARENTLY THE EVAPORATOR IS NOT *THAT* EXPENSIVE BUT IT IS LOCATED IN A DIFFICULT LOCATION TO GET TO, BEHIND THE DASHBOARD, AND THAT MAKES IT AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR ($1,680). I BELIEVE JEEP/CHRYSLER SHOULD PAY FOR THIS REPAIR AT A MINIMUM, AND FAILING THAT, A RECALL SHOULD BE PUT INTO EFFECT.
PASSENGER SIDE FRONT ACTIVE HEADREST DEPLOYED ON IT'S OWN, (NO COLLISION, OR IMPACT) WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT, ADULT PASSENGER IS SUFFERING WITH WHIPLASH, AND TERRIFIED TO RIDE IN MY JEEP AGAIN.
CHROME METAL INTERIOR TRIM IS PEELING OFF. THIS IS HAPPENING ON DRIVER'S DOOR HANDLE AND CUP HOLDER AREA. AS A RESULT, THE EDGES ARE RAZOR SHARP AND HAVE CUT MY HANDS ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS CAUSING LACERATIONS.
MY SUNROOF EXPLODED TODAY. I WAS DRIVING AT 50 MPH, EXTERNAL TEMP. IS 30 DEGREES AND SUNNY. THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND ME TO THROW A ROCK. THERE WAS NOTHING OVERHEAD. I WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 137 IN MAINE, A WELL PAVED ROAD IN A FAIRLY RURAL AREA. I HAD THE SHADE CLOSED, AS I ALWAYS DO. I HEARD AND EXPLOSIVE NOISE DIRECTLY OVERHEAD. THERE WAS IMMEDIATE LOUD WIND NOISE ABOVE MY HEAD. I PULLED OVER AND OPENED THE SUNSHADE. THE SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED AND THE ENTIRE CENTRAL PORTION WAS GONE. ALL OF THE SHATTERED GLASS AROUND THE EDGES WAS CONVEX, BOWED OUTWARD AWAY FROM THE CAR.
VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND WHEN I STARTED MY VEHICLE UP I LOOKED TO MY RIGHT AND NOTICED THE ACTIVE HEADREST ON JUST THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FAILED AND HAD EJECTED ON IT'S OWN WITHOUT BEING IN A COLLISION. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE HELFMAN DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM DEALERSHIP 7720 KATY FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77024. I AM BEING CHARGED FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF AN ENTIRELY NEW HEADREST WHEN MINE FAILED BY DESIGN.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND APPROACHING A BUSY INTERSECTION, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED IN MOTION AND THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD LIT UP FOR A BRIEF SECOND, TO INCLUDE THE BATTERY LIGHT. THE STOP LIGHT WAS RED AND I FULLY STOPPED. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I STEPPED ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE TO MAKE A LEFT TURN INTO THE INTERSECTION WHEN MY VEHICLE MOVED MERE INCHES BEFORE IT COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN. THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN A MINUTE WITH NO WARNING. TWO TRUCKS ATTEMPTED TO JUMP MY JEEP, BUT ALL THAT HAPPENED WAS THE JUMPER CABLES STARTED TO SMOKE AND HEAT TO THE POINT THEY WERE UNTOUCHABLE. I HAD TO HAVE MY JEEP TOWED TO A NEAR BY CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WHERE THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS A SIMILAR RECALL FOR 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES DEALING WITH THE ALTERNATOR, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT MY JEEP WAS MANUFACTURED WITH A 180AMP AND NOT THE 160AMP LISTED IN THE RECALL.
SRS-HEAD REST SYSTEM. CAR WAS IN PARK STATIONARY AND IN DRIVE WAY AT MY HOME AND FRONT PASSENGER GOT INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND SRS ON HEAD REST WENT OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WAS IN PARK, I SHIFTED IT INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE MOVED ABOUT 1 FOOT, AND JERKED ITSELF BACK INTO PARK. I TRIED EVERY OTHER GEAR AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES I TRIED IT AGAIN AND IT WORKED FINE. WHEN THE TOW COMPANY CAME TO PICK IT UP, IT STARTED JERKING ITSELF BACK INTO THE PARK POSITION AGAIN, FROM EVERY GEAR ACCORDING TO THE TOW COMPANY, A FLAT BED TRAILER WAS USED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE A REGULAR TOW TRUCK COULD NOT MOVE IT. DEALERSHIP HAS INDICATED TO ME THAT THEY HAVE FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT (JULY 6, 2016), FOR ME TO GO PICK IT UP. I DID NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER, AND I AWAIT A RESPONSE. ALL OF THIS OCCURRED AFTER THE S27 UPDATE WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION EVEN MORE SO THAN THE PROBLEMS THAT THEY TRIED TO FIX. MILEAGE 32333. ON 11/4/14 AFTER PARKING MY NEW JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AT GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT, ON A COMPLETELY LEVEL SURFACE, AFTER PLACING VEHICLE IN PARK, EXITING AND WALKING TOWARD STORE ENTRANCE I SAW MY CAR COMING AT ME OUT OF CORNER OF MY EYE. THE CAR HAD "POPPED" OUT OF PARK AND INTO NEUTRAL, AND WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS TOWARD ME. I WAS WAITING FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE TO PASS BY IN THE PARKING LOT ON MY WAY INTO THE STORE WHEN THIS OCCURRED. MY JEEP KEPT ROLLING SLOWLY BACKWARDS TOWARDS ME. IT COLLIDED INTO A CAR PASSING THROUGH THE PARKING LOT. THE OTHER CAR HAD 3 CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS IN THE BACK SEAT. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED, BUT I WAS MORTIFIED AT THE LOOKS ON THOSE CHILDREN'S FACES, THEY WERE VERY SCARED! I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MANY YEARS & THIS WAS NOT DRIVER ERROR. MY HUSBAND AND I TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO RECREATE THE SCENARIO WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE WARNING ALARM SIGNAL WOULD COME ON IF THE CAR WERE NOT IN PARK AND YOU TRIED TO EXIT IT, SO I KNOW THAT IT HAD BEEN COMPLETELY IN PARK AND HAD "POPPED OUT" AFTER I EXITED. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AT VALENCIA, CALIFORNIA SUPERSTORES CHRYSLER JEEP AND TOLD THEM OF THE INCIDENT. THEY CHECKED THE CAR AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THEY HAD IT FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM WITH IT POPPING OUT OF GEAR AND CHRYSLER CORPORATE SAID THEY HADN'T HAD COMPLAINTS. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND TO PICK IT UP. IT IS A DEFECTIVE DEATH TRAP AND I DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT AFTER THIS INCIDENT. IN RESEARCHING THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THIS HAD HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE I CAME ACROSS A BLOG FROM 10/31/13 WHERE THE SAME VEHICLE MODEL/YEAR HAD POPPED OUT OF PARK INTO REVERSE WHICH WAS ALSO REPORTED TO CHRYSLER, YET THEY CONTINUED TO SELL THESE CARS TO THE PUBLIC. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. THEY ARE UNSAFE AND LIVES ARE AT RISK WITH THEM ON THE ROADWAYS.

WHEN I SHIFTED, I WAS ALWAYS IN THE WRONG GEAR. A FELLOW JEEP OWNER SUGGESTED, I SHIFT AS HARD AS I COULD INTO PARK AND THE SAME FOR DRIVE. IT WORKED MOST OF THE TIME. I HAVE OFTEN STARTED TO EXIT THE CAR ONLY TO FIND IT WAS IN REVERSE, NOT PARK AND I OFTEN PUT IT IN PARK WHEN I MEAN TO REVERSE AS WELL AS SPORT MODE WHEN I WANT DRIVE. WE HAVE HAD 4 INCIDENTS OF UNINTENDED BRAKING (PE15-021) FROM THE COLLISION CONTROL SYSTEM. EXTREME AUTONOMOUS BRAKING WHEN NOTHING WAS IN THE WAY. ADDITIONALLY, WE HAD ONE CASE OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION IN LOW SPEED (LESS THAN 10 MPH) STOP & GO COMMUTER TRAFFIC RESULTING IN A REAR END CRASH WITH DAMAGE TO OUR JEEP AND THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US AND THE NEXT VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THEM (3 VEHICLES TOTAL). IN THAT SAME WEEK, SHIFTER SLIPPED OUT OF PARK WHILE DRIVER WAS BEHIND VEHICLE TAKING A PHOTOGRAPH. SERIOUS INJURY PREVENTED BY PASSENGER WHO PUSHED THE SHIFTER BACK INTO PARK. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM ON 11/22/2013. DEALER INSPECTED AND HAD INSPECTION BY CHRYSLER FIELD REP. BOTH DENIED PROBLEM. SEE ATTACHMENT. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. IT IS NECESSARY TO CAREFULLY INSURE TRANSMISSION IS IN PARK BY HOLDING GEAR SHIFT IN PLACE.

THE JEEP WON'T TURN OFF WHILE IT IS STILL IN GEAR, BUT IT IS SO QUIET THAT IT IS EASY TO MISS THAT IT IS STILL RUNNING (PARTICULARLY IF YOU DID NOT IMMEDIATELY GET OUT OF THE CAR). PULLED OVER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON BUT NOT BLINKING SO IGNORED AS DEALERSHIP SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THAT NOT CRITICAL IF NOT BLINKING. WE WERE ABLE TO MOVE, BUT TRANSMISSION SLIPPED UNTIL REACHED 20 MPH AND RAN OK UNTIL WE WERE HOME ABOUT 1/2 MILE AWAY. WE THEN TESTED THE SHIFTING AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. NEXT MORNING, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL IN ANY GEAR. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE REP CALLED THE NEXT MORNING INDICATING THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND THEY NEEDED TO ORDER A NEW ONE TO REPLACE IT. AWAITING NEW TRANSMISSION.
ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN FOR SEVERAL HOURS AFTER KEY FOB WAS REMOVED FROM VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR OR AUTOMATIC ENGINE SHUT OFF. ENGINE WAS VERY HOT.
CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET WITHOUT WARNING. DEARLERSHIP SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT AND WAIT FOR THE CAR TO SHUT OFF ON A REGULAR BASIS. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WHERE MY INSTRUMENT DISPLAY CLUSTER LIGHTS UP WITH NUMEROUS VEHICLE WARNING INDICATORS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER, 2013. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE DEALERSHIP KEPT MY VEHICLE RENTING A VEHICLE FOR MY USE UNTIL IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY "REPAIRED." THE ISSUE HAS CONTINUED TO OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THAT RECALL FOR A TOTAL OF ABOUT 5 TIMES. THIS MOST RECENT INCIDENT THE FOLLOWING OCCURRED -- ABS WARNING LIGHT, AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT, MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL WARNINGS LIGHTS WERE ALL DISPLAYED. ADDITIONALLY, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS INOPERABLE, THE BRAKE ENGAGED LIGHT WAS ON (EVEN THOUGH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED) AND THE BACKUP WARNING SYSTEM DID NOT OPERATE. I HAVE HAD INSTANCES WHERE THE AIRBAG WARNING SYSTEM INDICATED THAT IT WAS NOT OPERATIONAL. I AM TOLD THAT IF THE WARNING LIGHTS DO NOT STAY ON THE SYSTEM "ERASES" THE FAULT CODES. THE SYSTEM SEEMS TO RESET ITSELF BUT I STILL DON'T THINK THIS SHOULD BE HAPPENING. THIS WEEK I WAS TOLD THAT THE BATTERY CHARGE WAS LOW AND THAT THE ISSUE HAD BEEN REPAIRED. MY QUESTION IS IF THIS ISSUE IS REPAIRED WHY DOES THE PROBLEM CONTINUE TO OCCUR. I AM HOPEFUL AFTER THIS TIME IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN BUT AM NOT SO SURE. ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2015, I ARRIVED AT A GAS STATION WITH ONE ADDITIONAL PASSENGER IN MY VEHICLE. WHEN WE FULLY STOPPED IN THE PARKING SPACE, THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WAS PLACED IN PARK. THE SCREEN DISPLAY WAS STILL DISPLAYING THE CURRENT SATELLITE STATION. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE, BOTH MY PASSENGER AND MYSELF, THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT RUNNING, BUT I TOOK THE KEY FOB WITH ME. I THEN PROCEEDED TO WALK AROUND AND BEHIND THE VEHICLE TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR. THE GAS STATION WAS HAVING CONSTRUCTION WORK, AND IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WERE CONES AND THE AREA WAS BLOCKED OFF. APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS LATER, WHILE BOTH MY PASSENGER AND MYSELF WERE INSIDE OF THE GAS STATION, A WITNESS CAME RUNNING TO THE GAS STATION WINDOW TO ALERT THE ATTENDANT, THAT A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS JUST TAKEN OFF ACROSS THE PARKING LOT. AT THIS POINT, I DROPPED WHAT WAS IN MY HANDS, AND RAN TO LOOK. THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, 2014, HAD CRASHED ITSELF. ONE WOULD NOT THINK THIS IS EVEN A POSSIBILITY. PLEASE NOTE, THE KEYFOB WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK PRIOR TO EXITING, AND THE DOORS WERE LOCKED. IF SOMEONE HAD TRIED TO STOP THE CAR, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO. IT PROCEEDED TO TRAVEL, ON ITS OWN, BACKWARDS OVER 200 FEET AND CRASHED INTO A SPLIT RAIL FENCE, AND THEN LUCKILY IT CRASHED INTO THE ONLY TREE, BETWEEN THE SPACE IN WHICH IT WAS PROPERLY PARKED, AND AN INTERSECTION FOR A 55 MPH ROAD. THE POLICE WERE THEN CALLED TO THE SCENE, IN ORDER TO DOCUMENT THE INCIDENT, AND TO PROVIDE A POLICE REPORT FOR THE DAMAGE. NOW I AM LEFT WITH A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THAT COULD SERIOUSLY INURE A PERSON, ON ITS OWN, WITH ITS DOORS LOCKED, AND NO KEY FOB IN THE VEHICLE. IT IS ALSO DAMAGED, PARTS ARE BROKEN, AND IT ALSO HAS CAUSED PROPERTY DAMAGE.
WHEN SHIFTING INTO PARK THE SHIFT DOES NOT ALWAYS ENTER INTO PARK OR STAY IN PARK AND ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO ROLL AS IT IS IN REVERSE NOT PARK. THIS REPEATEDLY OCCURS. VEHICLE WAS LEASED 11/18/13 WITH INTENTIONS OF BUY OUT AT END TO PASS ON TO CHILDREN, VEHICLE BECAME TO UNRELIABLE AND UNSAFE FOR ME TO OPERATE SO I ENTERED IT ONTO SWAP A LEASE IN 2/2014. NO ONE WAS INTERESTED SO IT WAS PASSED TO MY HUSBAND AND WE PURCHASED A DIFFERENT VEHICLE FOR ME. HE HAS CONTINUOUSLY HAD THE SAME ISSUES AS WELL AS THE GEAR CHANGE ISSUES, AND PHONE SCREEN ISSUES... WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE PASSED ON TO A NEW/INEXPERIENCED DRIVER AS THE VEHICLE PRESENTS GRAVE SAFETY ISSUES. WE ARE AGAIN, CURRENTLY TRYING TO END THE LEASE VIA THE DEALERSHIP AS WE HAVE NOW BEEN MADE AWARE OF OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AND FEEL THAT VALIDATION EXISTS WITH THE VEHICLE BEING DEFECTIVE AND WANT TO PREVENT CAUSING TO OTHERS OR OBTAINING OURSELVES ANY INJURIES FROM SUCH.
I STARTED MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND STEPPED OUTSIDE TO ASSIST MY SON WHO WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THEIR WAS REAR DAMAGE TO MY SUV AND REAR/FRONT DAMAGE TO THE OTHER PERSON'S CAR. IT IS NOW BEING PUBLISHED THAT BOTH THE 2014 AND 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAVE HAD NUMEROUS INCIDENTS OF ROLLING ON THEIR OWN--IT NOW EXPLAINS EVERYTHING--MY SUV DID IT. IT WAS NOT PARKED ON A SLOPE, HILL, OR ANY TYPE OF INCLINE--JUST A FLAT SURFACE.
MOVE SHIFTER TO PARK ONLY IT DOESN'T GO INTO PARK WHEN YOU THINK IT DID. IT'S A DANGEROUS SHIFTER. MY BROTHER HAS THE SAME ISSUE WITH HIS. I WAS SHOUTING TO MY NEIGHBOR TO GET OUT OF THE WAY AS I FEEL INTO THE WOODS IN TREMENDOUS PAIN. MY NEIGHBORS CAME TO MY RESCUE AND CALLED 911 AS THEY THEN CALLED MY HUSBAND (HE WAS ON HIS WAY TO WORK) THE AMBULANCE CAME AND GAVE ME MEDICAL ATTENTION AND TOOK ME TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. I WENT THROUGH NUMEROUS EXRAYS AND THEN FOLLOW-UP DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS. WOUND CARE WAS NEEDED FOR WEEKS ON MY LEFT HEAL AS THE TIRE BENT MY LEFT FOOT ALMOST IN....HALF.. TO THIS DAY I STILL NEED TO KEEP IT ELEVATED AND HAVE PROBLEMS WITH BOTH ANKLES/FEET/HEALS..
MY VEHICLE WAS IN PARK ON A BOAT RAMP WHILE PREPARING TO LOAD A JET SKI. I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND THE GEAR SHIFTED OUT OF PARK AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED INTO THE LAKE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALED THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE ALL OF THE DOCUMENTATION SUPPORTING THE CLAIM.
I HAD THE KEYLESS BOB IN MY PURSE, WALKED UP TO THE CAR AND IT UNLOCKED. I OPENED THE REAR DOOR AND BUCKLED MY 3 YEAR OLD IN HER CARSEAT. I PLACED MY PURSE (WHICH CONTAINED THE FOB AND MY CELL PHONE) ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. I CLOSED THE REAR DOOR AND WENT AROUND TO THE DRIVERS SIDE AND ATTEMPTED TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. ALL THE DOORS WERE LOCKED. IT WAS 95 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND 110 DEGREES IN THE CAR. I HAD TO FIND A BYSTANDER TO CALL 911. IT TOOK EMERGENCY RESPONDERS OVER 20 MINUTES TO REMOVE HER FROM THE HOT CAR. MY CHILD ALMOST DIED BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY LOCKING SYSTEM. A KEY FOB SHOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO BE LOCKED INSIDE A VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RECREATE EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED, AND THE CAR WILL LOCK ITSELF SHUT WITH THE FOB INSIDE. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE FOUND TWO OTHER JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES THAT WILL REACT THE SAME WAY. I SEE FROM YOUR WEB SITE MY CAR HAS 8 RECALLS. I HAVE ONLY RECEIVED 2 RECALL NOTICES FROM FIAT CHRYSLER. THE AIRBAG RECALL AND VISOR WIRING RECALL. IT ALSO TOOK OVER 2 MONTHS TO RECEIVE THE RECALL SERVICE.
ON TWO OCCASIONS WITHIN SEVEN DAYS, MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ECODIESEL (33,626 MILES CURRENTLY) STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY ONCE AT 45 MPH AND THEN AT 60 MPH. BOTH TIMES IT RESTARTED AFTER APPROX. 10-15 MINUTES. BOTH TIMES I TOOK IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER. FIRST TIME I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT IN AFTER THE RESTART AND THE SECOND TIME I HAD IT TOWED AFTER A HARROWING TIME PULLING OVER AND ALMOST BEING HIT BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. I WAS VERY SHAKEN AND THE STATE TROOPER TOLD ME TO TOW IT FOR MY OWN SAFETY. THE CAR WHEN IT STALLED DID SO WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING. AFTER THE CAR RESTARTED IT HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. BOTH DEALERS TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE ANY ISSUES AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TOLD THEM NOTHING AND I SHOULD PICK UP MY CAR. I PICKED IT UP THE FIRST TIME THINKING IT WAS A ONE OFF BUT THIS SECOND TIME IT HAS BEEN IN THE DEALER FOR ALMOST A MONTH AND I HAVE OPENED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER. I AM AFRAID FOR MY SAFETY AND MY PASSENGERS SAFETY. THE DEALER REFUSES TO RESEARCH THE ISSUE FURTHER AND CHRYSLER HAS DONE NOTHING OTHER THAN PASSING ON THE SAME MESSAGE FROM THE DEALER TO PICK UP MY CAR. THE DEALER ACTUALLY SAID IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN BRING IT BACK! MY CHRYSLER CASE MANAGER OFFERED ME THREE FREE OIL CHANGES FOR MY INCONVENIENCE ! I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND SEE THAT THERE IS A RECALL AND OPEN CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR EARLIER MODELS RELATED TO DEFECTIVE TIPIN. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE ISSUE OR NOT BUT MY CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO OTHER THAN TRADE IT IN AT A HUGE FINANCIAL LOSS.

NOT ONE DEALERSHIP IN MY AREA HAS HAD THE PARTS TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS FOR OVER SIX MONTHS NOW. I CANNOT GET A CALL BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP WITH EXPLANATIONS AND I CANNOT GET SATISFACTION THROUGH CONTACTING CORPORATE.
