Two days after your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was repaired under warranty, the check engine light came on while driving. You discovered a part hanging underneath the vehicle — the reluctor ring had detached from the engine. The dealer confirmed the problem but said the part wasn't in stock and wrapped a rag around the connector as a temporary measure instead of making the repair. The rag became soaked, indicating continued leaking. You'll need to have the reluctor ring replaced once the part arrives at the dealer.

Your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee developed an oil leak while parked from a failed oil housing unit, which was replaced twice but the problem returned both times. Later, you heard a loud ticking noise from the engine while driving, and mechanics determined that internal engine parts (rocker arm, piston, and camshaft) had failed, requiring a complete engine replacement. The fix would involve replacing the oil housing unit and potentially rebuilding or replacing the entire engine.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V699000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), and the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure occurred. The contact stated that coolant had leaked onto the driveway. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the radiator was fractured. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the EGR cooler failed (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and there was coolant intrusion into the oil. The contact was informed that the EGR cooler needed to be replaced, along with the coolant bottle, the upper and lower radiator hoses, and possibly the high-pressure fuel pump. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the warranty had expired. The contact was informed that the recall repair was completed with an upgraded part. The failure mileage was approximately 173,000.
Jeep recalled the oil cooler as it can crack and cause leaking into the coolant yet the problem still persists. This can be inspected on my vehicle at any time. Jeep is claiming that since it was “repaired” (recalled) this is a customer problem. I have been quoted over 10k to fix a problem that was never correct from the recall Jeep performed. Jeep has failed in this recall remedy and are pushing customers to fix repairs as a result of their failed actions. Failed oil coolers can cause the vehicle to catch fire which could burn down someone’s home if the car catches fire while parked in a garage or structure. The nearby Jeep dealer called and confirmed that the issues I am currently having is a result of the cracked and recalled replacement oil cooler. There are countless number of people online how have also had the same issue and been told by Jeep and dealerships that this is now a customer responsibility because they provided a “warranty” in addition to the recall. The warranty is a result of a class action law suit against Jeep for emissions issues. I did not and do not have any warning light on my vehicle. I just had evidence of coolant leaking with a coolant smell when in front of the vehicle.
Engine light came on: took in for service. The dealer recommends replacing a damaged Intake Manifold for $2,247. 33. It appears there are recalls on these for same year as my vehicle involving both Jeep and Ram Trucks. However My vin does not fall into the recall? I find this odd and I understand there has to be a cut off, but i believe my vehicle was made around the same time and I don’t think Chrysler was aware of the problem until later… I also have Engine Oil cooler leaking which I am unsure if it is related, but now I have extensive repairs for Coolant flushing/ radiator hoses and coolant hoses, metal fuel lines, and thermostat… I am just disappointed that a recall is valid on the same model and year as mine, I was unaware and now I have a $8,570.40 quote to get this fixed. I am wondering if the EGR cooler failure has led to this massive problem as I am aware the engine oil cooler and EGR cooler are releated along with manifold function/ efficiency. Now I have Oil and coolant mixing in my system… If my eco diesel jeep were included in the original recall, I may not be dealing with this unexpected visit. Respectfully, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The 3.6L engine has a misfire and that problem was addressed by replacing the following new plugs, coilpacks, injector, plenum gaskets and it ended up being the rocker arms or cam shaft This has to be address as it is a wide problem with EVERY one of these engines.

Complaint to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Subject: Vehicle Sold by CarMax with Open Recall Campaign Z46 in Violation of Stop-Sale Order Dear NHTSA, I am reporting CarMax for selling a vehicle affected by Recall Campaign Z46 (NHTSA ID: 22V406) in violation of the stop-sale requirement. In November 2023, I purchased a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Diesel from CarMax while it was still subject to this recall and the part needed for repair was on national backorder. CarMax failed to disclose the open recall or the serious safety implications. As a result, I experienced significant engine and DEF system problems and incurred over $3,800 in related expenses. The vehicle was eventually repossessed, and I had to borrow nearly $2,500 to recover it. In addition to these costs, I experienced credit score damage and emotional stress from the situation. I am requesting NHTSA to investigate this dealer for violating the federal stop-sale order and endangering consumers by releasing a recalled vehicle without remedy or disclosure. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have the 3.6 motor, I was told there’s a class action lawsuit against jeep cuz of that motor. Motor keeps over heating and pushing antifreeze out of the reservoir.
I already complained before about the engine overheating in the car not being able to start so it took the car over to authorized dealership to where I could have my oil change done and the dealer noticed that there is engine oil that has mixed in to my coolant reservoir and that now I might have a blown head gasket after contacting several different dealerships about the recall they informed me that everything happened fixed on my vehicle which I have not been aware of since I've had the vehicle everything that's been repaired has been out of my own pocket and expenses the recall is for a EGR cooler which is the same recall that I've complained about numerous times I'm not able to drive the vehicle and I'm looking at repairs of anywhere to four to $10,000 now to replace my whole engine

The car keeps overheating. I received warning lights for the sensors to check the no flow indicator. In August I took to a mechanic and paid 1200 to have a hose repair for the cooling system. Lights went out for 4 days and problems again causing the car to completely shut off on my way home and I live in Volcano ca mountains no phone service and was stuck until morning. The car just says no flow wipe sensors. No car does not start without overheating quickly
My Jeep eats up thermostats too often. I have had it for 3 years and had it replaced 4 times. The last time , one year ago, it took the repair shop a week to finally install one that would hold. It needs it again. I also smell something burning when I accelerate onto the freeway since owning it. My engines fan runs high aIl the time also. I read many complaints online about people having overheating problems and temp fluctuations In the same year vehicle. This seems to be an issue and I can't afford to keep paying to have the thermostat replaced yearly. Last time last year they replaced the radiator with it since melted rubber around thermostat could of gotten into radiator cogging it. This jeep seems to be a lemon with all that has gone wrong since I bought it. I feel this issue needs to be looked into. I dont feel safe driving it anymore specially with the burning smell I get when I accelerate onto the freeway. It almost smells like wiring but not sure. It not a distinct smell. I entered only one incident that occurred with this issue as one is all I could submit. A few days ago was the recent but 2 more besides that. Thank you
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low-voltage battery warning light illuminated and white smoke exited from under the hood compartment. The contact stated that the failure occurred directly as he arrived at his residence. The contact parked the vehicle and opened the hood. The contact noticed a crackling sound. The contact used the water hose and sprayed the engine down. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed coolant pump and an unknown belt. The contact was informed that the coolant pump and the unknown belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure reoccurred. The check engine warning light illuminated, and white smoke exited from under the hood compartment. The contact parked the vehicle and opened the hood. The contact noticed that the alternator was fire-red. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, however, the vehicle had not been diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where an unknown diagnosis was provided. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact about an extended warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 137,699.
While traveling at freeway speeds the engine suddenly died. The vehicle was taken to an independent shop where they confirmed the cause was a connecting rod failure. They commented this is a common failure in the 2014-2016 Jeep grand Cherokee eco diesels along with the same model year dodge ram 1500s. There was no warning signs of this issue and the independent shop stated they have not been able to find a root cause as similar to our case the engine had plenty of oil in it to prevent this issue. During this event I also reviewed the engine temp and oil temps all were well within the normal operating temps. This put others and my own life at risk as we lost complete power. Fortunately I was on a straight stretch and in the far lane so I was able to safely coast to a stop. This could lead to a very different outcome. The component has not been inspected by police or insurance agents as it’s been claimed this is not a covered component under previous FCA extended warranties for a faulty emission system.
See attached document for complaint.
Known issue with engine design that could lead to catastrophic failure. The rocker arms fail and gouge the cam, causing catastrophic engine failure, if not addressed as soon as symptoms occur. We caught the knocking noise early and were able to have both sides replaced for $3800 on a vehicle with relatively low miles. This has been a noticed issue and to my knowledge, the replacement parts were redesigned to correct the issue.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed coolant leaking from the radiator, with the engine coolant warning illuminated. oil leakage
The component that failed is the EGR cooler. It’s available upon request for inspection. This component can crack and cause the car to start on fire and it’s currently cracked causing the car to not be able to be driven. The recall occurred in 2020 and I was told by three different dealerships including the one that fixed it foxchrysler in Canada and they all stated the recall had been remedied. The vehicle was taken to four separate mechanics for inspection. The warning lamps that are illuminated are the check engine light, service AWD, and service electric throttle control module and the code comes back as the EGR cooler when the vehicle is ran through the diagnostic system. They first appeared July 19th 2024. I called the dealership I bought the truck from who informed me the whole recall wasn’t fixed and to contact an authorized dealership in my area to get it fixed. (Motor Cars of Lansing, MI) I spoke with the dealership who they referred me to (Griffin Jeep and Chrysler S 27th street Milwaukee WI) they informed me that the recall was marked as complete effective 03/31/2021 and to call the dealership they fixed the recall in Canada and see if it had a warranty. Spoke with a rep at Fox Chrysler in Canada who informed me the part only had a two year warranty and would’ve expired 03/31/2023. My car is a used car that only had a one year warranty and I would have to pay for this part that was recalled out of pocket that could run me anywhere from $700-$10,000 which is way more than the car is worth
My Jeep Diesel Grand Cherokee engine and oil cooler overheats. This has progressively gotten worse. I have taken it to my local dealer and they can't and honestly don't try very hard to figure out the problem. I have taken it to local auto shops and they have replaced several parts but no improvements have been made. I have been told this Jeep needs an oil cooler but Jeep discontinued making these for my year. I have spent thousands of dollars to attempt to fix this and nothing has worked. This vehicle has left me stranded on the side of a busy highway with my family. I do not get warning lights, I just notice the arrow creeping dangerously close to the red marker before it completely blows the radiator. I cautiously drive slow going uphill when I am towing which is also a danger with cars passing me swiftly. Jeep knows this is a problem with the Diesel motor but they have not offered a fix for it. I can't sell it to anyone because of the known problem. I am completely stuck with a lame vehicle.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at slow speeds, the vehicle occasionally shifted into neutral independently. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle drastically decelerated to 30 MPH. In addition, while coming to a stop, the vehicle shut off inadvertently. The check engine and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V529000 (Power Train), 19V447000 (Power Train), and 20V475000 (Engine and Engine cooling) however, the VIN was not included in the recalls. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 139,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the engine overheated causing the vehicle to stall. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the engine manifold was faulty and needed to be replaced. Additionally, the transmission shifter failed to properly shift into gear. The dealer diagnosed that the shifter and shifter nob were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V699000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 156,830.
The crankshaft sensor tone wheel is damaged. I found that there was a recall on this item on our make/model and year of our Jeep. It's recall number W68/NHTSA 20V-475 and W58/NHTSA 20V-475. The dealership is refusing to follow the recall and make the repair and quoted us over $3,000 out of pocket to fix a known and recalled problem with our vehicle. I'm not understanding how it is legal for them to refuse to fix a known problem on a vehicle that isn't outside the parameters in terms of years old, or years since the issuance of the recall. We have spoken with multiple people who simply tell us they don't know why, but our vehicle isn't covered under the recall. Can you please point me in the direction as far as next steps or do we just need to hire our own legal council to have this problem addressed and rectified? Our Jeep is currently at the Dealership located at 12410 E 136th Ave, Brighton CO 80601 Phone number 303-654-1940. They did the trouble shooting and can confirm that this is the problem. They were also aware of the recall and unsure as to why Jeep was saying it wasn't covered.
My oil cooler has failed and it caused oil to mix with my coolant and also causing a bad coolant leak. It over heats to car and my warranty will not cover ANYTHING! This is a major problem with diesel jeeps and the oil cooler needs to be recalled also. It can catch on fire and is a real safety hazard. I’ve tried multiple times to fix the oil cooler and leak. Jeep will not fix my recall at all. A recall that is on the vehicle and can cause a fire!
Unknown failure of oil cooler system resulting in oil leaking into the coolant
May [XXX] 2023 - Car would stop, shift in neutral going at any speed. had to pull over stop car, restart and slow start again while jeep would shift, jump and clutch. May [XXX] - Jeep was in shop to put a "bandaid" over issue. May [XXX] 2024 - Car transmission doing same issue along with a leak. Car would shift in neutral on hiway, transmission sounds like it's dropping. -----[XXX] This recap is exactly what is happening to my jeep but for some reason my VIN is not protected under this same issue but I do have the same engine. The car down shifts while apply light pressure to the gas pedal mostly on an incline there is a slight clunk and the engine shuts off. This mostly happens at 70 MPH on the highway from 8th gear to 7th gear but has happened in lower gears as well. The power to the engine is cut. Everything else works no lights flash just no power to the motor. I have to pull over put the car in park and restart and the car drives normal again. This happens about once per month but I baby the car so it could occur more often if I push the engine more. A great example is if I am behind someone about 50 mph and coasting then I press on the gas pedal to pass them the car seems like it will gasp for fuel then clunk and the engine shuts off. This has been going on for several year now and no one has an answer. The dealership said once there were no codes, another time they said the oil pressure switch is bad. The car now has 172,000 miles on it however this has been happening when the car had under 140,000 miles on it.

While traveling down the highway with my gastank 3/4 full my car suddenly lost all power. Thankfully the large truck behind me and the car beside me were alert and they let me glide into the breakdown lane, where I was able to put the car into park and restart it. After doing a search I have noticed 2014 jeeps have been recalled for this issue, although when I entered my VIN a recall didn't come up.
Brought car to Daytona Chrysler/jeep dealer for recalls and after a few days car was not done for the 2 recalls. They wanted me to pay more than $ 4k dollars for some repair they want which has nothing to do with the recall.

The vehicle above has started a countdown to where the engine will not restart in x amount of miles. I have replaced many parts to remedy the situation and taken to shops, mobile mechanics, etc. nobody can remedy this situation and I am left without a vehicle as it will not restart. The dealership says they’re so backed up and unable to get me in for 2 months. I am left without a vehicle and have no means of getting to my job let alone around.

Since day 1 of purchase, There has been a significant consumption of oil being burned. 1 quart per 1,000 miles. No warning light, the only warning is the engine shuts down when a certain level is reached. Happens on the road while in motion "shuts off" with no warning. Oil change is supposed to be changed at 10,000 miles. Car take 6 quarts of oil total . At 3,000 miles only 3 quarts empties.

Safety recall Z46 has been published for over a year and Jeep keeps telling me they cannot get parts. My fuel pump started making a loud ticking noise and I needed to make a 2000 mile trip to western states where support is not readily available. I checked and had no problem finding parts to complete the recall. I contacted Jeep customer care and they authorized me to buy the parts and have the work completed at a Jeep dealership then apply fur the reimbursement. I bought a fuel pump, had the work completed, and applied did reimbursement but Jeep customer care will not pay for the recall work or part as the pump had not failed. I believe that Jeep is stalling the completion of this recall hoping that there will be fewer still in service once they do start the work. I found parts available from over 10 different sources and it took only 3 days to get them. Jeep is making a mockery of the safety recall process and putting customers and their families at risk.
RECALL #22V-406 Has not been replaced the part has been failing for the last 2.5 years. The stalling situation is getting worse. It does not come to a complete stall at least not while in traffic but it will start to stall and cough and sputter while under power at residential speed of 30-35 mph, city driving of 40 -50 mph, and at highway speeds of 70-75 mph. It is increasingly getting worse. We have taken the vehicle to multiple dealers only to be told that the needed repair has still not been developed yet. (the repair is to replace the HPFP before my wife and grandkids get ran over on the highway or coming out of the local grocery stores parking lot). The problem has been identified and the repair to the problem has been realized, but the manufacturer will not commit to the repair. How many people will have to be maimed or die because of this. Yes the problem has been reproduced and the manufacturer and the dealerships are aware of it. One Service Manager reported to us that he has a new truck on their lot that can not be sold because of this very issue. there is no MIL code for the decaying of the fuel system rail. Other codes can be thrown as a result but here is no standard code for it.

I have a 2014 keep grand Cherokee. The car has made shifting noises and changed gears. The sensor goes on and then comes off.The car had suddenly lost power and then it makes a clinking sound and goes back to gear.. I was on the highway when this happened and almost got into a crash. This vehicle is not used often and well maintained.I took it to be checked from diagnostic and it read codes about a module and defective cranks. The shop informed me that many people were having the same issues and that there was a recall due to this. That the crank shift position was defective and causing transmission issues as well.He also stated that recalls for software issue that needed to be updated which many 2014 jeeps had the same issues. I called Chrysler to find out about the recalls and they stated that there were2014recalls for this but not my vin number.I informed them that I believe my car was also in need of this recall and defective parts because many of the things that were happening were the same as the recall and the model. They said they couldn’t help me and to take it to keep to be checked. I made an appointment and told Chrysler that the problems what the shop said about recalls and it software update. They stated that this has been happening but since my vin was not recalled yet that I would have to cover whatever cost to be fixed.I paid for it to be evaluated by them and they stated it is going to cost 8000 to repair because of the shift and it has a transmission replacement. My vehicle only has 61000 miles. I feel Chrysler is deceiving customers and also selling defective cars that can be fatal. They are not taking responsibility for defectives and leaving the consumer blindsided by costs.I paid a lot of money for this vehicle when purchased 35000 and I have only used 40000 miles in six years. My family and I could of lost our lives due to defective parts in vehicle.

My vehicle has 2 recalls on faulty parts that can cause catastrophic failure. There are no replacement parts or repairs available to owners of these cars. FCA US should have offered loaner vehicles to owners a long time ago. Instead, they indicate that they will give loaner cars once the Grand Cherokee breaks down or crashes as a result of the faulty parts. This is not acceptable. I now have a vehicle that I paid over $47,000 for that is useless and worthless - I cannot drive it knowing it could have an "unexpected loss of motive power" and I cannot sell it with 2 serious unrepairable recalls. FCA US needs to be forced to offer loaner vehicles or buy these Grand Cherokees back from owners at a fair price.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Engine Failure and Lack of Accountability by the Manufacturer Dear NHTSA, I am writing to bring to your attention a distressing situation regarding the Jeep Grand Cherokee and its e$th ongine issues. I have been experiencing an ongoing nightmare with my vehicle, which was supposed to be covered by a 100,000-mile engine warranty. However, after only 8,000 miles, the engine suffered a catastrophic failure, and Jeep has chosen not to take responsibility for the problem. It is evident that this engine has a significant factory defect, as my research has revealed numerous cases of the same issue. Many owners have faced similar engine failures, and it is disheartening to see that Jeep has not acknowledged this widespread problem. Compounding the issue is the lack of available spare parts for the necessary repairs. As a result, my vehicle has become inoperable, leaving me with a substantial financial burden and an unusable car. I am writing to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) with the hope that you can investigate this matter further. The safety and well-being of consumers are at stake, and it is crucial to address this issue promptly and thoroughly to prevent further incidents and ensure accountability from the manufacturer. I kindly request that the NHTSA launches an inquiry into the Jeep Grand Cherokee's engine problems, assesses the extent of the defects, and holds Jeep accountable for their failure to address these issues appropriately. Your support in rectifying this matter would be greatly appreciated by the affected owners and the wider community. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any additional information regarding my case. I look forward to your prompt response and assistance in resolving this troubling situation. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Luis Garcia

This recall, campaign number 22V-406, has been open for 13 months at this point. How long is it acceptable to still be waiting on parts and a plan from Stellantis to address a potential safety issue that warranted a recall.
The outstanding recalls have not be addressed despite one of them being over a year old at this time. The V46 High Pressure Fuel Pump issue is particularly worrying as not only does this pump failure result in a dangerous situation on the road but can also cause tens of thousands of dollars in engine damage as a result. The recall was issued more than one year ago and no remedy yet exists. This is not acceptable timeline. FCA & Stellantis need to either find a remedy of purchase these vehicles back at a fair price immediately as many of us are afraid to drive them with our families.
Codes P06DD, P0456, P0306. mechanic said new motor is needed as there is a bad lifter, losing oil pressure and other issues. i have 133000 miles on my car. after further research, many other people with the Pentastar V6 engine have the same issues. a lawsuit was filed previously.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the contact heard a ticking sound coming from the engine compartment. The oil cooler is made from an inferior material resulting in warpage and leakage. That leakage happens prematurely and poses a fire risk from oil leaking from the top side of the engine onto the components below, including but not limited to the exhaust manifold. The component is currently being replaced by the dealer due to catastrophic failure, resulting in oil and coolant mixing. I have found multiple forums that discuss this topic and have not been as lucky as I to have found it early. There were no warnings, no discernable puddle of oil under the vehicle, just an oil trail down the rear of the engine that is not immediately discoverable. The dealer knew to look for this as it is a common failure that could have larger consequences and Jeep should be held responsible for the inferior material selection that warps due to the higher temperatures an engine faces.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer after receiving notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V699000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and the recall repair was performed. Shortly after the check engine light had illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve had failed. The contact was informed that the exhaust was leaking into the engine and seeping into the cabin of the vehicle. The contact was informed that the failure was related to the recall repair; however, the dealer was unable to provide another repair free of charge. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case regarding the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 235,000.
the vehicle is beginning to choke when accelerating - loss of power is noticed. the engine light is on. This recall was issued in June of 2022. here we are almost a year later, and there are still no parts for repair?? Why?
Safety recall does not have parts available to fix. Vehicle may stop running unexpectedly. My car stopped running in December and has fragments of the engine. I’m not sure if it is related to this recall or not. My car’s engine is being replaced right now by the dealer, under warranty, but I cannot trade it in for what it is worth because of this outstanding safety recall.

Have an oil leak in the in the oil filter housing. it bolts to the engine block and is a vital part to the security of the engine. its a possibility that the engine could catch fire. the component has been checked by a authorized jeep dealer and this is the cause of the oil leak. my extended warranty will not pay for the repair of this part. the dealer insisted i buy the extended warranty only to not have said repair covered.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, he noticed transmission fluid leaking underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the oil coolant to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee started to leak oil slowly. We started to smell a burning scent when accelerating. This problem has slowly happened for a while before an oil light showed up on the dash. We took it to the mechanic & had an diagnostic test done. It was confirmed that our oil filter housing was leaking. This issue could have destroyed our engine. While pricing this repair, we've contacted several mechanics and all have stated that this oil filter housing is a major issue for Mopar (Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Fiat). The parts are sold out of Auto Zone, NAPA, Advanced Auto Parts and can only be purchased on the Mopar site or Amazon. The issue with the part is that it's plastic which dries, cracks & can be easily warped. Dorman has made an aluminum replacement which is hard to come by due to the amount of people that are constantly having to repair this part. The oil filter housing was poorly constructed/designed. This is a major malfunction that could completely ruin a vehicle. There are several YouTube videos, blogs and articles discussing this issue. This should've been recalled voluntarily but I'd like to know that I won't have to replace this part again on my dime in the future when a faulty designed item was placed into my car which is a large investment.
It has been 5 months since I received a notice from Jeep that my vehicle has a recall due to a possible fuel pump failure (NHTSA# 22V-406). At the time I received the notice there were no parts available to remedy this problem. The parts are still unavailable. This is unacceptable. I worry when driving the car that it might leave me stranded in a dangerous situation. I have explored selling the car back to the Jeep dealer but they don't want it due to the open recall and I can't in good conscience sell it privately. When the open recall is brought up no one wants it. How long are Jeep owners in this situation supposed to wait for this to be fixed. It seems like 5 months is too long. What is NHTSA doing to remedy this?
The right cylinder head is misfiring and needs repair. NHTSA previously investigated complaints on the left cylinder head. MOPAR issued a warranty bulletin (D-14-12) on June 10, 2014 for 2011 - 2013 model vehicles for left cylinder head extended warranty coverage period of 10 years/150K miles. Upon my further investigation, the cylinder heads misfiring is a known issue on model years beyond 2013, yet Mopar has not issued an extended warranty bulletin. The cost to repair it is thousands of dollars. My model year 2014 was manufactured in 2013. If this is not repaired, it will do permanent damage to the catalytic converter, and beyond. The dealer inspected the vehicle and confirmed malfunction. No prior warnings given prior to cylinder head misfire, when it happened the Check Engine Light came on.
The lower radiator hose clamp failed due to corrosion. This resulted in a loss of coolant which could lead to engine damage or complete failure. There was no indication that eh cooling system was leaking other than the loss of fluid in the coolant overflow tank. This type of spring clamp is used on many vehicles and in 40 years of working on cars have never seen one fail in this manner. Many otehr vehicles may use this clamp and I am sure it has been affected by weather here in the NE.
Engine oil cooler (OEM part number ) 68525212AA failed. Causing significant power loss on freeway. Had to immediately pull over on freeway with no warning. Oil temp causes car to have significant power loss and extremely unresponsive engine also while on freeway causing me to slow well below suggested speed and speed of traffic. The steam caused by coolant loss onto side of engine made it difficult to see out window. Also the temps got so hot that it burnt some heat shielding on a upper hose on engine and the engine padding melted to the top of the engine. it has been inspected by a professional mechanic and replacement of failed part will be installed by the dealership after part is available. Currently on back order. No warning lamps came on prior to engine power loss after my family pulled over the temperature gauge responded. After looking through the digital gauges the you can switch through - (however are not displayed while driving and cannot be switched while in motion.) the oil temp had been maxed out and maxed out prior to the coolant temp increasing above normal levels.
I was driving home and my Jeep started making a weird noise and then a warning popped up about battery voltage I was really confused so I pulled over popped the hood it looked fine but just in case I decided I would go to the nearest VIP which was probably 5 miles from where I had pulled over maybe even shorter. As Im driving over there my Jeep starts smoking so I pull into VIP and pop the hood we look at it and my alternator is smoking so we pour some water on it to cool it down. After doing that a little bit and it stopped smoking as bad we let it sit. A couple minutes later the alternator catches on fire so kept pouring water on it till it completely went out and stopped smoking.
Recall for diesel EGR cooler has been requested by me to get fixed on multiple occasions. The dealership keeps telling me they do not have the parts. Now my check light engine is on and my car is leaking coolant profusely.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while the vehicle was receiving routine maintenance at the local dealer, the contact was informed that the motor mounts needed to be replaced. 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. CONSUMER WRITES SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS MADE RELATED TO NHTSA SAFETY RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE HAD BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE DIED WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN. ALSO, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING DURING THIS INCIDENT.
Transmission will slip into neutral while driving.
Severe oil leak and oil loss from engine. Unknown source of leak.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While operating the vehicle the contact became ill and had headaches, nasal drip, and burning eyes. The contact suspected that carbon monoxide was leaking into the cabin of the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 162,000. Carbon monoxide comes into the cabin.
The exhaust fuel pump filter gets full every week and it has to run regeneration. This seems to happen too often and can be stressful as you gave to make sure to drive it at high speeds until it is complete
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle slowed down independently to approximately 15 MPH. The contact stated that a red "lightning bolt" symbol and the "throttle control" warning lights started blinking on and off. The vehicle would not accelerate when the contact depressed the accelerator. The contact stopped the vehicle and turned off and restarted the vehicle. The failure recurred intermittently. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000. THE CONSUMER NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE.
- What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The 2012 to 2015 392 Hemis had a known issue with lifters - like mine does - where the cylindrical rotating ‘spheres’ which contact the cam shaft would wear at their inner axle/shaft, start ‘floating’, and as they would wear more (once the wear starts the wearing accelerates) to where the side-supports/tails for each lifter would make contact with the cam lobes, and start causing ruts and flats on the cam shaft. This will degrade quickly to the point a head-job will be requires, along with new cam and lifter set. Here is what is important; the replacement lifters are a DIFFERENT part number. Take note of what I just stated. Chrysler/Jeep will not replace stock lifters with the SAME ones - they will use an UPGRADED lifter set. SO - this should have been a recall. This fix will cost approx. $6K+ in labor and parts. If a motor is needed $16-$17k. I have the defective parts available. - How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? People's safety is at risk as a motor blowing up or seizing while driving could be fatal. - Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Yes, Lithia Jeep of Spokane has torn the motor down and confirmed the defect. - Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No - Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lamps, but audible ticking/knocking noise. This defect can be found all over the internet by searching Hemi Tick.
Oil filter housing has a leak due to a crack. This is a known issue (a defect) and this is the second time I've had this happen. TSB NUMBER: 09-008-15
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at 60 MPH, an unknown warning message indicating that the vehicle would not start the next time she would attempt to start it illuminated. The incorrect DEF fluid warning light illuminated. The contact continued to drive to her residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the PCM software was reprogrammed. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred 7 months later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the PCM software was again reprogrammed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer 13 more times and the dealer reprogrammed the PCM software; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the PCM software had forced the engine to shut off due to the diesel exhaust fluid system failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,665.
I took my vehicle to get an oil change at a non-Jeep dealership, that I purchased the vehicle from and was told that I had an oil leak and that I would have to take it to a Jeep dealership in order to have it fixed. When I called the Jeep dealership and explained what the previous dealership told me, they said that this is a known issue with Jeep and that they have recently fixed this issue on several Jeeps within the last month. After checking on this site to see if there was a recall in place, due to the costly repair, there was none. How could there be so many complaints on the same year, make and model Jeep, for the same issue, and yet no recall? This is definitely a manufacture defect! They clearly put a plastic part on this vehicle knowing darn well that it will eventually warp due to hot oil being transported through it. $900 is a lot of money!!
Oil cooler filler housing is plastic and it warps and oil is leaking on top of hot engine, running down engine side onto hot exhaust pipe. Oil travels along underneath chassis. FIRE HAZARD! Prior part was not made of plastic. 61,000 miles on Jeep
My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee currently has 27,000 miles on it and until 2021 was never driven in the winter. (I previously spent the winters in Florida; this car was not involved in driving to and from Florida.) I am retired. Due to my retirement status and COVID restrictions since 2020, my driving has been limited to about 3,000 miles per year. Without any prior warning, the oil filter-cooler housing adaptor assembly failed, causing oil to leak out of the engine through the o-rings and onto the transmission housing. This created a mess under the car anywhere it was parked. It creates a hazardous condition because the leaked oil can cause people to slip and fall wherever it lays on the ground, and if the driver is on the road and the engine loses enough oil and oil pressure, it can result in extensive damage to the engine, maybe an accident. I have checked your database, and see that this problem has not been part of any recall. However, I've also done some online searching and discovered that mine is not an isolated problem. https://www.carproblemzoo.com/jeep/grandcherokee/2014/engine-oil-leaking-problems.php The problem was identified by my mechanic at Empire Automotive of WNY 716-681-7187, and repaired at their shop on Feb. 23, 2022. They did show us the part that failed. I do not know if they still have the old part, but they can explain the problem in detail because they told us they had done two other repairs for the same problem on 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees during the previous week. The cost of this repair came to $848.41. I think it is outrageous that this problem, which appears to be a flaw in engineering, and has occurred in a significant number of 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees, has not been subject to a recall. I need your help and advice to determine the next step I should take in trying to get some dealer help for paying for this unexpected repair. While traveling with 2 small children on the highway a very strong burning smell starting coming through the ventilation system along with a small amount of smoke. Immediately exited the highway and left the vehicle overnight. Upon returning to the vehicle the next day, a large amount of liquid (oil) was leaked out under the vehicle as well as oil all over the components underneath the vehicle. Took vehicle to nearest mechanic and without even inspecting it, the mechanic (non dealership) stated it was likely the oil filter housing as he had replaced a # of these in recent memory due to the plastic melting and/or cracking. The mechanic confirmed the next day that this was in deed the issue and the oil filter housing had to be replaced due to mine being cracked. There appears to be thousands of these cases reported to nhtsa, yet the manufacturer is yet to recall this, which is a significant safety hazzard. Allowing a manufacturer to use a piece of plastic that is known to fail, to store and/or transfer a highly flammable liquid such as oil is a tragedy in the making. Oil leaking onto the engine and other components of the vehicle can cause a fire without the vehicle occupants knowing anything about it. If the manufacturer is unwilling to proactively recall this flawed part, then the nhtsa needs to step in and force a recall before a vehicle catches fire and there is a loss of life.
We noticed two large oil spots on our driveway two days before a scheduled oil service and asked our service person to inspect our vehicle during our oil change. The service manager stated that they diagnosed an oil cooler housing defect which would cost $1,030.00. My daughter drives this vehicle and, out of concern for her being stranded on the road, I specifically inquired as to whether this issue was something that could result in a catastrophic failure, to which he responded “It could very well happen.” Unsolicited, he recommended that we retain the service receipt because (in his words) “I expect to see a recall on this issue because we have seen this SO many times on this engine. In fact, the dealer often runs out of this part and we have to wait to initiate the repair.” He then informed us that we were lucky this time because he was able to get the last replacement part in stock for this issue from the dealer. I also asked that he return to me the part they removed, which he did, and I have it in my possession if you might need it for inspection. Thank you.
The contact owned a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V699000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the part to the recall was unavailable. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer and was confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated on 1/26/2022 after turning on the ignition, the electronic throttle control warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive to her residence. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure and was not able to schedule an appointment till April/2022. The contact called another local dealer: Calavan CDJR West (1251 Thornton Rd, Lithia Springs, GA 30122:(770) 942-1102), and was able to make an appointment for 1/31/2022 to diagnose the failure and complete recall associated with the VIN. The contact stated on her way to her appointment while driving 65 mph when depressed the accelerator pedal but failed to go over 60 mph. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road and called the local dealer Calavan CDJR West to seek towing service. The dealer was informed to call any towing company to have the vehicle towed. The contact stated while calling a towing company, she saw smoke exiting the front of the hood. The contact was able to exit the vehicle safely before the vehicle was engulfed in fire. The contact stated no one was injured nor sought medical attention. The fire department extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed. The contact stated two police troopers were near and were able to assist the contact. A police report was not filed. The insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss. The vehicle was towed to towing lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
I was driving pulling a light trailer for less than 15 miles and vehicle suddenly and catastrophically overheated. Had vehicle towed to dealership and they identified the root cause as a failed oil cooler. There were no symptoms prior to this failure. Doing preliminary searches for similar issues, there is a very high rate of failures of these oil coolers in both the Jeep Grand Cherokee and RAM 1500 ecoDiesel engines.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking oil. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing the oil cooler replaced however, the vehicle was not repaired. The contact had spoken to a local dealer and was informed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000. The oil cooler in this 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is located at the top of the engine. When the oil cooler failed, oil leaked onto the hot engine. This situation created a fire hazard. The vehicle was repaired by a local garage.
I took my Grand Cherokee to the mechanic for a sudden oil leak. The aluminum oil filter housing on my jeep had cracked, covering the lower half of the engine, transmission, frame, axles, brakes, and tires with oil. The mechanic said with with amount of oil covering everything, it could have caught on fire if we had warm, dry weather conditions. He said the aluminum it is made from easily cracks when we have freezing temperatures. My car didn't move for 5 very cold days, and on Sunday, while I'm taking my child to the hospital, we have this blowout. $926 later, I'm not spraying oil everywhere.
Mechanic reported back to me a small crack in the plastic adaptor housing plate for the oil filter. Said crack is leaking a small amount of oil and "could" result in a safety issue-possible fire hazard. Said problem can be repaired with a new metal component at a cost in excess of $650. It is my understanding there have been in excess of 37,000 plastic components which have cracks and Jeep has not issued a recall. I've been trying to get Chrysler/Jeep to recognize this is a design-manufacturing /engineering problem that Jeep should be held accountable for and not the consumer. This problem falls squarely on Chrysler -Jeep yet they want the consumer to pay $650++++ when they have switched over "now" to a metal component to address the issue
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the crankshaft needed to be replaced. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated the failure was like NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, there was a ticking noise coming from the engine compartment, started well before this failure. Recently while driving the engine started to sputter and the vehicle would not accelerate above 25 MPH with a loud ticking noise coming from the engine. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic indicated that the engine needed to be disassembled to further diagnose the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 70,000.
The contact 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact had received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V699000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and the vehicle was taken to the local dealer for the recall repair. The vehicle was repaired. After several months, the contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and approaching a stop sign, the contact saw in the rearview mirror that there was steam coming from underneath the rear of the vehicle. The contact kept driving and the vehicle became overheated and stalled. The contact parked the vehicle at a parking lot and added water to the coolant reservoir. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the EGR valve was cracked. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 151,000.
Was pulling a trailer and vehicle overheated and caused radiator to leak. Dealer states exhaust fumes were present in coolant overflow tank and states engine needs to be replaced, but refuses to believe this is caused by an EGR Cooler that is under recall
I was merging onto the highway from an on-ramp and the vehicle stuttered a d stalled. The jeep dealership diagnosed the issue and said it was a bad computer controller 5-10 days for part to arrive then 2 days later I was informed the computer controller wasn’t the problem. Now they think it’s the fuel pump. After searching the symptoms I found a recall for 2014-2016 Jeep’s for loss in the magnetic coating on the tone wheel resulting in possible engine stall. 2014-2016 Jeep’s manufactured between June 9 2014 and March 29 2016. Still waiting for a fix. I was stuck on the side of the highway with my 9 year old daughter for 5 hours! Safety issue!
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V699000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The part was not available for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
My jeep has developed the 3.6L Penastar tick. I noticed FCA extended the warranties for vehicles equipped with the 3.6L Penastar V6 but for my model they stopped in 2013. How can I get my year added to that warranty since it developed the same problems as the previous years. We had our jeep at a local dealer in Wasilla Ak for a tune up before our long trip and he didn't mention anything to us even though the tick was noticeable. I then had my vehicle state safety inspection completed (Texas) in 1st week of June and the mechanic told me about it and after some research, my jeep has the same tick coming from the engine.
BAD LEFT SIDE HEAD STANDARD CHRYSLER PROBLEM - 3.6 - v-6
Large oil leak, could have gone on fire or seized the engine. Turns out the oil filter housing assemble was cracked which seems quite common in this make, mode and year.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V699000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the contact was informed by the local dealer and manufacturer that the recall repair would not be performed on the vehicle due to a faulty engine. No further information was provided. The contact indicated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while at a standstill, the vehicle was leaking oil. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed and repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure however, offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.
According to the recall notice I received in the mail, the EGR cooler needs to be replaced. I scheduled an appointment and took the vehicle in. Upon arrival I was told that, yes there is a repair solution but that the parts are not available. But that they would place an order and notify me when it arrives. It has been several months and still no repair. *Note* I am having to add engine coolant on a regular basis.
The glow plugs are “stuck” and have broken by the service department when trying to remove due to the carbon build up in the cylinder head. The dealerships states because this car is a diesel it needs to be driven and gotten to temperature. I commute a short drive to work. This is a safety issue as I could be stranded. The service manager says he will have my car for over 6 weeks!!!
The EGR cooler was not properly installed by the manufacturer which has caused several failures to the vehicles engine components (such as oil cooler, engine coolant system, and the EGR itself). Additionally, the EGR cooler has an active safety recall due to risk of engine explosion and vehicle fire. The parts and remedy for this recall have been available since November. This repair is covered under BOTH the active recall as well as an extended emissions warranty that was required by a federal judge in the settlement agreement for the emissions scandal which FCA settled with the federal courts to provide remedies to its customers. Thus far, FCA has not honored the terms of this federally required extended emissions warranty on two separate occasions. I have contacted three separate dealers and FCA on two occasions. FCA has refused to assist in the EGR repairs and the dealers have refused to perform the repairs. I’ve not been able to get any assistance from FCA, or the dealers. My EGR cooler is a safety risk and this should be addressed immediately. I have been working to get this resolved with Jeep since March 12th. I need the law to be enforced.
UNABLE TO GET PARTS FOR THE W79 RECALL FOR THE EGR COOLER AFTER WAITING MORE THAN 6 MONTH. CURRENT WAIT IS MORE THAN 3 MORE MONTHS. THIS RECALL CAN CAUSE FIRES TO BREAK OUT IN THE ENGINE AND IS NOT BEING HANDLED PROPERLY BY THE MANUFACTURER!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STARTING HOWEVER, THE ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND THEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TONE WHEEL AND CRANK SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. BENNETT CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1491 GA-40, KINGSLAND, GA 31548) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V475000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
DEAR NHTSA: I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WHEN MY ENGINE DEVELOPED AN OIL LEAK AND THE CAUSE WAS DUE TO A KNOWN MFG'S DEFECT IN THE PLASTIC OIL FILTER ADAPTER & COOLER P/N 68105583-AF. THE DEALER (LANSDALE CHRYSLER JEEP, MONTGOMERYVILLE, PA) STATED THAT THIS PART SHOULD NEVER FAIL, IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE PLASTIC HOUSING DEVELOPING A CRACK, AND MANY THOUSANDS OF THESE PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER BECAUSE JEEP HAS CHANGED SUPPLIERS. IT DOESN'T HELP THAT THE PART IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND IT'S LOCATED UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD RESULTING IN A BILL FOR $977 TO REPLACE IT. I WAS LUCKY AS THEY HAD A REPLACEMENT IN STOCK. I'VE CONTACTED JEEP SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT. FROM A SAFETY PERSPECTIVE, ENGINE DAMAGE COULD RESULT FROM A LOSS OF OIL AND A RISK OF FIRE IF THE LEAKING OIL CONTACTS A HOT SURFACE. MY VEHICLE HAS 86,325 MILES AND IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. JEEP SHOULD HAVE A REPLACEMENT CAMPAIGN OR RECALL DUE TO THE EXTREME NUMBER OF FAILURES. I HOPE YOU CAN HELP WITH GETTING JEEP TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS ISSUE.
OIL FILTER HOUSING OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY LEAKING OIL BADLY. THE PROBLEM IS SO WIDE SPREAD THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. COULD BE A FIRE HAZARD OIL LEAKING ON EXHAUST
CALLED FCA AND THEY OPENED CASE #79173434 FOR ME AND HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TOMORROW AT A NEARBY DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION OF SUSPECTED OIL LEAKING FROM THE OIL COOLER/FILTER HOUSING AREA AND LEAKING DOWN UNDERNEATH AND ALL OVER MY TRANSMISSION AS WELL AS MY ONTO MY DRIVEWAY...WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ON OUTCOME SINCE MY 5 YEAR WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED BUT I'M STILL BELOW THE .100,000 MILES-HOPEFULLY THE "GOODWILL POLICY" IS APPLICABLE OR THIS ISSUE GETS MORE ATTENTION AND TURNS INTO A RECALL FOR ITS POTENTIAL TO CAUSE INJURY OR EVEN DEATH IF THE OIL CATCHES FIRE. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE MORE THAN 300 COMPLAINTS INVOLVING THIS CONCERN AND THERE HAS NOT BEEN MORE CONSIDERABLE ACTION TAKEN BY FCA US LLC. THE OIL COOLER FILER HOUSING IS LEAKING, THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER FOR UP TO TWO MONTHS, WITH OVER 50,000 VEHICLES IN THE COUNTRY NEEDING THE SAME PART REPLACED. WITHOUT THAT PART REPLACED, IT COULD CAUSE EXTENSIVE ENGINE DAMAGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT-OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THEY COULD NOT SERVICE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT THEN TOWED THE VEHICLE TO SALT LAKE VALLEY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (2309 STATE ST, SALT LAKE CITY, UT 84115) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED DUE TO NO COOLANT. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE DUE TO THE FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V699000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) WHICH HE LINKED TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A FCA REPRESENTATIVE WAS TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS SENT AN EMAIL INFORMING THEM OF THE FAILURE EXPERIENCED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CASE HAD BEEN CLOSED. THE MANUFACTURER RE-OPENED THE CASE TO DETERMINE COLLATERAL DAMAGE. THE MANUFACTURER CALLED BACK AND THE CASE WAS CLOSED ONCE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND REMAINED IN THE POSSESSION OF THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,929.
VEHICLE CRANKS, BUT DOES NOT START. VEHICLES ACTS LIKE IT DOES NOT HAVE GAS WHILE DRIVING. IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE OR DECELERATES WHILE DRIVING LIKE IT'S ABOUT TO STALL. ISSUES ARE SIMILAR TO THE 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE RECALL.
NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET BUT THERE IS A RECALL OUT (W79) TO REPLACE THE EGR COOLER AS AN ENGINE FIRE COULD OCCUR. WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL NEARLY 4 MONTHS AGO AND YET JEEP SAYS THERE ARE STILL NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO DO IT. CAN YOU GET ON THEIR CASE TO GET THIS DONE?

2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED 3.6L -67K MILES. CRACKED OIL FILTER HOUSING. NOTICED A SMALL OIL LEAK FALL 2020 ON MY GARAGE FLOOR AFTER OIL CHANGE FROM LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. LATE WINTER 2021 NOTICED THE LEAK WAS BIGGER ON GARAGE FLOOR. CHECKED UNDER CAR AROUND OIL PAN. OIL PAN NUT AREA WAS CLEAN OF OIL, BUT OIL WAS DRIPPING DOWN ENGINE AND OVER EXHAUST AND ONTO THE TRANSMISSION. NOTICED OIL PUDDLING INSIDE TRANSMISSION SKID PLATE. LOOKED ONLINE FOR CAUSES AND FOUND THE OIL FILTER HOUSING WAS KNOWN TO CRACK ON THESE ENGINES. I LOCATED MY OIL FILTER NEAR THE TOP OF THE ENGINE AND FOUND OIL ALL AROUND THE BASE OF THE HOUSING. THE FILTER NECK WAS CLEAN OF OIL, JUST A POOL OF OIL AT THE BASE OF THE NECK!! LOOKED UP CHRYSLER RECALLS AND NOTHING REPORTED FOR THIS PART. BUT DID FIND MANY SAME ENGINE OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THIS SAME PROBLEM! READ MANY ARTICLES ABOUT THIS PRODUCT BEING MADE OF PLASTIC AND FAILING. ALL OF MY OIL CHANGES HAVE BEEN FROM THE SAME LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. DID THEY CAUSE THIS BY OVER TIGHTENING OIL FILTER? OR IS THIS TRULY A DEFECT PRODUCT AND CHRYSLER IS WAITING FOR A VEHICLE TO CATCH FIRE OR A DEATH BEFORE A RECALL IS ISSUED? ARE VEHICLE ENGINE FIRES CAUSED BY OIL LEAKING ONTO EXTREMELY HOT ENGINE/TRANSMISSION/EXHAUST PARTS??
THE OIL FILTER HOUSING IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND ATTACHED TO THE MOTOR. HIGH FAILURE RATE AS EVIDENCED BY THE 40,000 PART BACKORDER STATUS OF THE PART. CAUSES MODERATE TO SEVERE OIL LEAK WHEN CRACKED, AND ENGINE FAILURE IF IT BREAKS COMPLETELY. LEAVES AN OILY MESS WHEREVER IT IS PARKED. OIL WILL BLOW BACK ONTO OTHER VEHICLES AND VEHICLE WILL BE STALL AND BE STRANDED WHEN MOTOR LOCKS UP DUE TO NO OIL. $600+ REPAIR COSTS. AFFECTS SOME DODGE, JEEP, AND CHRYSLER VEHICLES. UNABLE TO REPAIR STALLED VEHICLES BECAUSE PART IS UNAVAILABLE. EST WAIT TIME IS OVER A MONTH. PART NUMBER IS 68105583AF. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THE COMPANY NOT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR PUTTING A PLASTIC CONNECTOR INSIDE AN ENGINE HOUSING. IT'S COMMON SENSE. I WAS LEFT STRANDED ON A BUSY ROAD AND HAD TO BE TOWED. I PERSONALLY KNOW OF TWO OTHERS ALSO. OUR VEHICLES ARE USELESS BECAUSE OF THIS. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, DEALERS ARE NOW OVERCHARGING FOR THE PART. NORMALLY $199, NOW CHARGING OVER $300.
I NOTICED AN OIL LEAK,THROUGH A LITTLE RESEARCH I THOUGHT IT WAS THE OIL COOLER/OIL FILTER ADAPTER. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY CONFIRMED IT BUT TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A NATIONWIDE BACK ORDER ON THE PART. I WAS TOLD THAT 37,000 UNITS ARE ON BACK ORDER. I FEEL THAT THERE IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM WITH THIS PART, I THINK THAT OIL LEAKS COULD LEAD TO POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUES AND POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE

I BOUGHT THIS JEEP IN 2018 WITH LOW MILES 40,000 NOW IN 2021 HAS 68,000. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE CAR ONLY TO GO WORK AND WORKING FROM HOME I WASN'T DRIVING THAT MUCH. SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING I NOTICED A LIGHT ON AND IT WAS ON AND OFF, AND OIL SMELL. I TOOK IT FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC AND THE CODE MISFIRE DETECTED IN CYLINDER NUMBER 3., P0303 ,WHICH IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE. THE PRICE IS 4000 TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IS A MISFIRE IN ONE OF THE CYLINDERS OF THE ENGINE. THE CAR IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY BECAUSE IT HAS A OIL SMELL AND SOME ISSUES WHEN I AM DRIVING SUCH AS SHAKING AND ALSO A WEIRD SOUND . THIS IS THE ONLY CAR THAT I HAVE RIGHT NOW AND I AM SCARE TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE I DON'T THINK IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE IT WITH OIL SMELL, IT MIGHT CAUGHT ON FIRE OR SOMETHING . THE STARTER IS NOT WORKING AND WHEN DRIVING IS UNSTABLE. I JUST DRIVE LOCALLY I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS CAR IS GIVING ME AN ENGINE PROBLEM WITH THAT LOW MILEAGE. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE THAT A CAR PARKED AND USING NOT OFTEN COULD HAVE AN ENGINE PROBLEM. I BOUGHT THIS CAR THINKING TO KEEP IT FOR A LONG TIME SINCE I ALWAYS TAKE A GOOD CARE OF MY CARS. I NEED AN EXPLANATION FROM JEEP REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. I AM NOT GOING TO SPEND OVER $4000 IN A CAR WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES AND WITH A PROBLEM THAT WAS NOT DONE BY ME. I NEED TO RESOLVE THIS SINCE IT MIGHT BE A SAFETY RISK IF I CONTINUE DRIVING THIS CAR WITH SOME TYPE OF ENGINE/ OIL SMELL. WHEN I PARKED THE CAR A STRONG BURNED OIL SMELL COMES OUT AND GOES INSIDE THE CAR.
TOOK MY VEHICLE TO BROWNS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE TODAY IN PATCHOGUE NY TODAY AS I NOTICED OIL LEAKING FROM UNDER CARRIAGE. IT WAS TOLD TO ME THAT THE OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY IS BROKEN. CONTACTED MY LOCAL CAR REPAIR ( TIRE CITY , SHIRLEY NY ) TO GET INFORMATION ON THIS SITUATION AND ALSO SEE HOW MUCH THEY WOULD CHARGE . IN THE CONVERSATION, IT WAS MENTIONED THAT THEY ALSO HAD THIS SIMILAR PROBLEM AND HAD MANY JEEPS COME IN LATELY WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED AND HAD THEM RECORD THE ISSUE WITH CHRYSLER HEAD QUARTERS IN MI. I BELIEVE AS WELL AS THE OWNER OF TIRE CITY IN SHIRLEY NY , THAT THERE SHOULD BE AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS AS WELL AS A RECALL.
TICKING NOISE FROM LEFT HEAD
CHRYSLER HAS A RECALL FOR THE EGR COOLER ON THE DODGE RAM ECODIESEL (VB1/NHTSA 19V-757) THIS IS THE SAME ENGINE AND EGR COOLER AS THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ECODIESEL. THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF GRAND CHEROKEE 3.0 ECODIESEL VEHICLES CATCHING FIRE AND BURNING TO THE GROUND. JEEP CURRENTLY DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THIS ISSUE OR PARTS FOR IT, YET WE ARE STILL ALLOWED TO DRIVE AROUND IN OUR VEHICLES. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: I AM A SRT OWNER WHO LOVES HIS TRUCK, BUT NOT HAPPY WITH THE DESIGN OF THE 6.4 HEMI ENGINE. AS ONE OF THE HIGHEST COSTING JEEPS IN YOUR LINE UP I WOULD ASSUME I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH IT AFTER 77,000 MILES. UNFORTUNATELY, MY ENGINE HAD LIFTER FAILURE WHICH DESTROYED MY ENGINE. THIS HAPPENED ON THE THROGGS NECK BRIDGE WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH I'VE FOUND HUNDREDS OF OTHER SRT OWNERS SUFFERED THE SAME PROBLEM INCURRING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IF THEY DIDN'T BLOW THEIR ENGINE FROM THE FLAW OF THE DESIGN OF THE ENGINE. AT THIS POINT HOW IS THERE NOT A RECALL? DOES IT TAKE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT BECAUSE THIS IS UNHEARD OFF. COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED AND WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER JEEP LET ALONE RECOMMEND BUYING ANYTHING FROM JEEP CHRYSLER FIAT. SINCERELY, [XXX] 2014 JEEP SRT OWNER INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
I BOUGHT THIS JEEP ON THE 31ST OF DECEMBER. ONLY 10 DAYS INTO HAVING IT THE OIL STARTED LEAKING. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND HE ADVISED ME THAT IT WAS LEAKING FROM THE OIL FILTER AND HOUSING ALONG WITH THE OIL COOLER. HE ADVISED ME THAT THIS IS A ONGOING ISSUE WITH THESE JEEPS. THIS WOULD NOT BE A EASY FIX AS THE INTAKE MANIFOLD ALONG WITH THE HEATER HOSES, FILTER HOUSING/OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY WOULD ALL HAVE TO BE REMOVED.

OIL FILTER AND COOLER HOUSING LEAKING. CAR HAS LESS THAN 60,000 MILES AND IN 6 YEARS OLD. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 3.6L ENGINE IN THESE CARS AND CAN LEAD TO A FIRE OR LOSS OF ENGINE OIL RESULTING IN ENGINE FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING. THIS IS NOT CAUSED BY ANY MOTION OF THE VEHICLE BUT JUST BY THE HEAT OF THE ENGINE WARPING THE PLASTIC PART AND CAUSING THE SEALS TO LEAK.

UNEXPECTED SHIFT TO NEUTRAL WHILE ACCELERATING
APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS AGO I NOTICED OIL DRIPS WHERE THE CAR WAS PARKED. THE CAR HAD 49,740 MILES AND WAS ALMOST DUE FOR A 5,000 MILE OIL CHANGE. I TOOK IT EARLY AND ASKED THE MECHANIC TO CHECK ON THE LEAKS. HE FOUND THERE WAS OIL ALL OVER THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR AND ESPECIALLY AROUND THE OIL PAN, ALTHOUGH NO APPARENT SOURCE OF THE LEAK COULD BE SEEN, THE OIL PAN GASKET/SEAL WAS REPLACED. THAT DID NOT HELP THE PROBLEM, THE NEXT DAY THERE WAS A LARGER PUDDLE OF OIL UNDER THE CAR. APPARENTLY, THE OIL FILTER HOUSING ON THIS CAR IS CRACKED, LEADING TO AN OIL LEAK ON TOP OF THE ENGINE AND POOLING THAT RUNS DOWN THE BACK OF THE ENGINE. OCCASIONALLY BURNING OIL CAN BE SMELLED, CREATING A POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD ISSUE TO THE PASSENGERS. IT WOULD SEEM THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM - NHTSA HAS RECORDED A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FROM USERS (E.G., 11244788,11230350, 11193883, ETC.). FCA ISSUED AN EARLY SERVICE BULLETIN: SB-10058301-5939. SEARCHING ONLINE SHOWS LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN NECESSARY. THE REPLACEMENT PART NUMBER IS NOW ON ITS SIXTH REVISION (CURRENTLY ADAPTER-ENGINE OIL FILTER - MOPAR 68105583AF). IT SEEMS LIKE THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE LONG AGO.
ENGINE FIRE OCCURRED WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. VEHICLE HAS 3.0L ECO DIESEL ENGINE. DODGE RAM 1500 TRUCKS WITH SAME ENGINE ARE ON RECALL (FCA VB1/NHTSA 19V-757) FOR FIRES DUE TO EGR COOLER FAILURE, BUT THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. I AM A PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER THAT DETERMINED THE FIRE ORIGIN AND CAUSE OF THE VEHICLE IS DUE TO THE SAME ISSUE. YESTERDAY, I PARTICIPATED IN A DESTRUCTIVE EXAMINATION OF THE VEHICLE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE FOR FCA PRESENT. HOWEVER, I AM NOT CONFIDENT THAT FCA WILL PROVIDE NOTICE OF THIS ISSUE TO NHTSA IN A TIMELY MANNER, IF FCA PROVIDES NOTICE AT ALL. THE FIRE ORIGINATED INSIDE THE ENGINE INTAKE CONSISTENT WITH AN EGR COOLER FAILURE. I URGE NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE THIS MODEL VEHICLE AND EXTEND THE RECALL BEYOND THE DODGE RAM 1500 TRUCKS. MILEAGE PROVIDED IS AS OF LAST OIL CHANGE JUNE 12, 2020. THE SPEED LISTED IS AN ESTIMATE BASED ON INFORMATION PROVIDED FROM THE PERSON DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE FIRE OCCURRED.
WHILE DRING IN MY HOMETOWN AT ABOUT 30 MPH THE TRANSMISSION STARTED JERKING AND I NOTICED SMOKE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CAUSE WAS LATER DETERMINED TO BE A HYDRAULIC FILLED MOTOR MOUNT BREAKING ON DRIVERS SIDE AND LANDING ON EXHAUST PIPE.

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE COIL PACKS WERE REPLACED ON 7 SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY TO HAVE THE TWO MOST RECENT RECALLS COMPLETED. SHORTLY AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND GLOW PLUG LIGHT CAME ON.
PULLING A SMALL HORSE TRAILER AND SUDDENLY ENGINE STARTS TO KNOCK AND A COUPLE MINUTES LATER OVERHEATS. STOPPED VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO JEEP DEALER AS PARTS OF ENGINE ARE UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO OTHER RECALLS. JEEP DEALER SAYS ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS AN ECODIESEL ENGINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO HESITATE WITHOUT WARNING. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT LAG IN THROTTLE RESPONSE SINCE THE EMISSION RECALL WAS COMPLETED. SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE BEEN NEARLY HIT FROM BEHIND OR HIT BROADSIDE BY CROSS TRAFFIC. THIS HESITATION DID NOT EXIST PRIOR TO THE EMISSION RECALL 'FIX'.
WE HAVE A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ECODIESEL 3.0 WHICH IS PART OF THE OVERALL CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WITH THE EPA AND CARB. WE WENT THROUGH THE PROCESS, RECEIVED THE SOFTWARE UPDATE & REMUNERATION FOR THE LOSS IN VALUE ON THE VEHICLE FROM FCA. FCA CLEARLY INDICATED IN ITS LITERATURE REGARDING THE SETTLEMENT THAT THE PERFORMANCE, MILEAGE, ADBLUE/BLUEDEF USAGE, ETC. WOULD NOT BE AFFECTED (SEE ATTACHED INFORMATION SHOWING THE EMISSIONS SOFTWARE UPDATE) HOWEVER, OUR EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN QUITE THE OPPOSITE AS I UNDERSTAND IS COMMON PLACE AFTER THE UPGRADE. FCA DID NOT ADEQUATELY REPRESENT THE MAJOR PERFORMANCE CHANGES THAT WERE TO BE EXPECTED BY THE EMISSIONS SOFTWARE UPDATE & DOWNPLAYED ANY ISSUES. THE MAIN ISSUES THAT WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED SINCE THE UPDATE INCLUDE: 1. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON 3-4 TIMES; 2. A MAJOR AND DANGEROUS HESITATION/LAG OF THE VEHICLE WHEN YOU START IT & ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE-ESPECIALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. 3. A HIGHWAY MILEAGE DECREASE FROM AN AVERAGE OF 27-28MPG TO 19-21MPG; 4. SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN THE USE OF BLUE-DEF; WE HAVE HAD TO TAKE THE JEEP IN FOR SERVICE TO CHECK THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SEVERAL TIMES & IT IS AGAIN IN THE SHOP YESTERDAY/TODAY FOR THE SAME ISSUES. AT THIS POINT, WE BELIEVE THAT FCA DID NOT CORRECTLY REPRESENT & REPAIR THE ECODIESEL 3.0 ENGINE IN OUR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE & AS A RESULT OF THE UPGRADE, OUR PERFORMANCE HAS GREATLY DIMINISHED AND WE HAVE SUFFERED WITH A NON-PERFORMING VEHICLE. WE ASK THAT NHTSA LODGE A FORMAL COMPLAINT ON OUR BEHALF AND BE MADE AWARE OF THE CONTINUED ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLES & THE MISREPRESENTATION OF THE PERFORMANCE ISSUES.
THE RIGHT SIDE CYLINDER HEAD REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED AND OIL PUMP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD RECEIVED AN OIL CHANGE, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL OIL BURNING ODOR PRESENT. THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE OF OIL LEAKING UNDER THE HOOD AND IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE INTAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ZUBEK CHRYSLER DODGE - TAWAS (492 M55, TAWAS CITY, MI 48763, (877) 591-0773) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OIL COOLER FILTER HOUSING FRACTURED AND CAUSED AN OIL LEAK. THE REPAIR WAS STILL PENDING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
ROCKER ARM ISSUE ON THE 3.6L ENGINE SEEM TO BE A FABRICATION PROBLEM THAT THE COMPANY WILL ONLY FIX IF ONE OF THOSE BRAKE DURING THE WARRANTY. AFTER THAT YOU'RE ON TOUR OWN. IT IS UNFAIR THAT THE COMPANY KNOWING THAT THE ENGINE HAVE AN ISSUE WILL NOT RECALL IT AND HAVE IT FIX. THE BEARING FAILS AND THE ENGINE START MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND CREATING ALL SORT OF FAILING CODES ON THE PCM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30-40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT COASTED INTO A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BOLLES MOTORS 84 (WEST RD, ELLINGTON, CT 06029), TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO CAPITOL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1520 W MAIN ST, WILLIMANTIC, CT 06226) AND WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A CRACK IN THE TRANSMISSION AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,422.
THIS MODEL CAN COME WITH THE 3.6 LITER V/6 ENGINE. THE OIL COOLER HAS A NECK ATTACHED AND THIS IS WHERE THE OIL FILTER IS LOCATED. WHERE THE NECK IS CONNECTED TO THE OIL COOLER THERE IS A O-RING TO SEAL THIS CONNECTION AND THIS LEAKS ON ALMOST ALL MODELS. THERE HAS BEEN SOME INCIDENTS WHERE THE OIL HAS LEAKED ON A HOT MOTOR AND CAUSE A FIRE. THIS IS PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE OIL COOLER DESIGN AND SHOULD BE PROBABLY LISTED AS A RECALL. THANK YOU *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAD NOTICED OIL LEAKING FROM HER VEHICLE; SHE COULD ALSO SMELL AN OIL ODOR WHILE BOTH IN AND EXITING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT SHE COULD SEE SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OIL LEAK WAS CAUSED BY A CRACKED OIL FILTER HOUSING. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000
AFTER HAVING THE V08 EMISSIONS RECALL DONE THE VEHICLE HAS A MAJOR LOSS IN POWER. THERE IS A DANGEROUS AMOUNT OF LAG WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. IT IS NOT SAFE TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC DUE TO THE LAG. THE FUEL MILEAGE HAS DROPPED SIGNIFICANTLY ALSO. THE INFORMATION SENT OUT BY FCA SPECIALLY STATED THAT THIS RECALL WOULD NOT EFFECT DRIVEABILITY OR FUEL CONSUMPTION. IT HAS EFFECFED BOTH SIGNIFICANTLY. I HAVE
AFTER THE ECO DIESEL RECALL WAS DONE THERE IS A HUGE DELAY WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. THE VEHICLE WILL MOVE AND PAUSE ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS. FUEL MILEAGE HAS ALSO DECREASED AND THERE SEEMS TO BE EXHAUST SMELL INSIDE VEHICLE SINCE UPDATE WAS DONE.
P0032 CODE CAME UP WENT FOR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. WENT TO GET IT LOOKED AT. TECH THEN TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A MISS DRILL OF THE HEADS CAUSING THE MISFIRE TO HAPPEN. THE TECH THEN ALSO STATED IT WAS A KNOWN MOPAR ISSUE IN JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LINE.
OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY KEEPS BREAKING AND LEAKING. WONT HOLD OIL ANYMORE. 3 TIMES IT HAS DONE IT
THE OIL FILTER HOUSING CRACKED. CAUSE OIL LEAK CLOSE TO EXHAUST. IT IS MADE OF PLASTIC. LEAKING OIL. COST US $900 TO REPAIR. SHOULDN'T BE AN ISSUE IN A 6 YR OLD CAR. MANY COMPLAINTS OUT THERE.
THE EGR COOLER FAILED, ALLOWING HOT COOLANT TO BE DIRECTED INTO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE HOT COOLANT CAUSED THE PREMATURE FAILURE OF INTERNAL MECHANICAL COMPONENTS IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND SEVER THERMAL DAMAGE TO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE INTAKE MANIFOLD, EGR COOLER, AND OTHER FUEL COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCING THIS FAILURE HAVE ENCOUNTERED FIRES IN THE ENGINE BAY DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE HEAT APPLIED TO THE COMPOSITE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THIS FAILURE IS TYPICALLY UNDETECTED UNTIL A SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF COOLANT HAS OCCURRED, OR THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IS DAMAGED ENOUGH TO CAUSE A MALFUNCTION DETECTED BY THE COMPUTER. THE RAM 1500 MODEL THAT USES THIS ENGINE ALREADY HAS A RECALL FOR THE EGR COOLER. THIS RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE MODELS AS WELL.
OIL LEAK AT OIL FILTER HOUSING. NOTICED PUDDLE OF OIL ON GARAGE FLOOR. HAD VEHICLE CHECKED AND THEY DETERMINED THE OIL FILTER HOUSING IS CRACKED AND LEAKING ENGINE OIL. THIS COULD CAUSE AN ENGINE FIRE. I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP. THEY REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE AND HAVE STOPPED RESPONDING TO MY EMAIL REQUESTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE ENGINE HAD OVERHEATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A RESULT OF THE OIL COOLER BEING MADE OF PLASTIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEALS FRACTURED AND CAUSED AN OIL AND COOLANT LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,306. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
NOTICED VEHICLE AT 79 000 MI TO BE LOW OF OIL PRIOR TO SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE. INSPECTED VEHICLE FOR LEAKS BUT COULD NOT FIND ANY NOTICABLE ISSUES. CHANGED OIL AND FILTER AS SCHEDULED DURING THIS TIME. AT 89,000 MI , THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AND UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, A NOTICABLE POOL OF OIL WAS FOUND TO BE POOLING ON TOP SIDE OF ENGINE BLOCK NEAR OIL FILTER/ OIL COOLER. THE ENGINE BLOCK IS V SHAPED AND RECESSED WHICH ALLOWS OIL TO POOL WITHOUT DRIPPING TO GROUND. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS A LEAKING OIL COOLER, WITH A QUOTE OF OVER $1000 TO FIX. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, BUT AFTER A CALL WITH FCA AMERICA, THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY AS VEHICLE IS OVER THE 5 YEAR LIMIT, ALTHOUGH IT IS UNDER THE 100K . ( 89000 CURRENTLY) ISSUE IS A MAJOR MECHANICAL DEFECT, AND ALSO PRESENTS SAFETY ISSUES WITH POOLS OF OIL STANDING ON TOP OF BLOCK DURING NORMAL OPERATION WHICH COULD LEAD TO FIRE UNDER EXTREME TEMPERATURES.
MY CAR HAD AN OIL LEAK AND THE MECHANIC HAD TO REPLACE THE OIL COOLER. HE SAID THE PART IS A DANGEROUS DESIGN WITH PLASTIC, METAL AND ALUMINUM PARTS. THE PLASTIC MELTS IN THE SEALS CAUSING THE LEAK. THIS COULD BE A FIRE HAZARD BC OF THE COOLANT AND OIL MIXING TOGETHER AS THEY CROSS OVER BOUNDARIES THEY SHOULD NOT. ALSO IT COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO BE COMPLETELY RUINED. THE MECHANIC I USED SAID HE HAS REPLACED A LOT OF THESE ALL IN CHRYSLER'S AND JEEPS SO IT IS CLEARLY A HAZARDOUS DESIGN FLAW. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND I FILED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER #71764143. THE MECHANIC TELLING ME MY ENGINE COULD BE RUINED MADE MY DECISION TO GET THE REPAIR MORE URGENT.
THE PLASTIC OIL COOLER HOUSING FAILED DUE TO THE PLASTIC WARPING AROUND THE SEALS AND LEAKING. THIS IS A SAFETY RISK OF POTENTIAL FIRE FROM OIL LEAKING ON TO THE ENGINE BLOCK. THE CAUSE OF THIS FAILURE IS DUE TO DESIGN AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER AS A RECALL.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND UPON RUNNING A DIAGNOSTIC THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD VALVE AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I TRIED TO ORDER THE PART FROM JEEP AND GET THE CAR REPAIRED AT MY LOCAL MECHANIC. MY WARRANTY HAD ENDED 5 MONTHS PRIOR AND MY CAR HAD 105,000 MILES SO I HAD TO PAY TO GET THIS FIXED. JEEP COULD NOT PROVIDE THE PART BECAUSE THEY WERE OUT OF STOCK. THEY HAD BEEN OUT OF STOCK FOR FOUR MONTHS AND PUT ME ON A WAITING LIST OF 6-8 MONTHS. THEY ALSO ADVISED NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF THE ISSUE. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A NATIONWIDE EPIDEMIC AND THE SPECIFIC PART NEEDED IS ON BACK ORDER FOR OVER 4,000 PEOPLE. THEY SYMPATHIZED WITH THE STRAIN THIS PUTS ON THEIR CUSTOMERS BUT WE HAVE NO OPTION BUT TO WAIT FOR THE PART TO BE AVAILABLE. THIS ISSUE HAS NOT YET BEEN RESOLVED AS A RECALL. I AM AT A LOSS BECAUSE I CANNOT USE THE CAR, YET I NEED TO HAVE TRANSPORTATION TO WORK, AT THE LEAST. I HAVE YET TO COME TO A REASONABLE SOLUTION OF WHAT TO DO FOR THE NEXT 6-8 MONTHS WITHOUT AN OPERABLE CAR. FINANCIALLY THIS IS A HUGE SETBACK AND JEEP IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE. ASIDE FROM THE EXTREME INCONVENIENCE, THIS IS ALSO A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT SHOULD NOT LAND IN THE HANDS OF OVER 4,000 JEEP CUSTOMERS, BUT THE COMPANY WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING AND MAINTAINING SAFE VEHICLES. THIS IS NOT ONLY AN ISSUE FOR 2014 JEEP BUT IT HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED STARTING WITH 2011-2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES.
I HAVE A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH A 3.0L ECODIESEL ENGINE THAT HAD THE APPROVED JEEP V08 RECALLED INSTALLED. SINCE HAVING A CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN INSTALL THE V08 EMISSIONS RECALL, MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER REPEATEDLY TO HAVE THE FOLLOWING PARTS REPLACED: 14 TOTAL FUEL INJECTORS, FUEL LINES (HIGH AND LOW PRESSURE) FROM TANK TO ENGINE REPLACED TWICE, FUEL TANK CLEANED, DEF INJECTOR REPLACED, NUMEROUS SENSORS AND THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED. EACH "FIX" WORKS FOR ANYWHERE FROM 1 - 6 WEEKS BEFORE A LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. EACH OF THESE REPAIRS HAS INCLUDED ADDITIONAL CHARGES THAT WERE REQUIRED TO BE PAID OUT OF POCKET. PRIOR TO THE V08 EMISSIONS RECALL, I DROVE THE VEHICLE OVER 100,000 MILES WITHOUT AN ISSUE. SINCE THE RECALL, DRIVING HABITS HAVE NOT CHANGED, BUT MILES PER GALLON HAVE DROPPED 2-3 MPG. THE DEALER AND JEEP HAVE ALSO INDICATED THAT SINCE THE RECALL WAS INSTALLED, THE VEHICLE MUST BE DRIVEN DIFFERENTLY COMPARED TO PRIOR TO THE RECALL. ACCORDING TO THE V08 RECALL NOTICE, JEEP PROMISED THE RECALL WOULD NOT AFFECT THE WAY THE VEHICLES DRIVES AND ALSO WOULD NOT AFFECT MILEAGE, WHICH HAS BEEN PROVEN FALSE.
FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES (FCA) ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE RAM 1500 ECODIESEL, MODEL YEAR 2014-2019, FOR POTENTIAL FIRES. THEIR RECALL STATES THAT THE EMISSIONS GAS RE-CIRCULATION (EGR) COOLER CAN DEVELOP CRACKS AND THERE IS RISK OF AN ENGINE FIRE AND POTENTIAL FOR INJURY RESULTING. FCA GOES ON TO STATE THAT INJURIES HAVE OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF THIS PARTICULAR ENGINEERING OR MANUFACTURING FAULT. MY VEHICLE, THE 2014 GRAND CHEROKEE, WAS PURCHASED WITH THE OPTIONAL 3.0L V6 TURBODIESEL ENGINE, THE "ECODIESEL." THIS IS THE IDENTICAL ENGINE TO THE RAM AND POSSESS THE SAME EGR AND EGR COOLER, AS WELL AS THE SAME INTAKE MANIFOLD, WHICH IS WHERE THE FIRES HAVE SEEMINGLY OCCURRED. THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES, MODEL YEARS 2014-2016, THAT UTILIZE THE OPTIONAL ECODIESEL ENGINE WERE NOT NAMED IN THE SAME RECALL, NOR IN ANY SUBSEQUENT RECALLS FROM FCA, AND THE RISK OF FIRE SHOULD BE IDENTICAL BETWEEN THE TWO VEHICLES. I AM ONLY ASSUMING THAT THE REASON THE GRAND CHEROKEE WAS EXCLUDED, WAS BECAUSE IT WAS SOLD FAR LESS FREQUENTLY WITH THE ECODIESEL ENGINE OPTION. IF THE RAM 1500 WAS RECALLED FOR A FIRE AND INJURY RISK, THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THAT'S POWERED BY THE SAME ENGINE (AND THE SAME FIRE RISK) SHOULD ALSO BE INCLUDED UNDER THE SAME RECALL. IT'S CONCERNING THAT A MANUFACTURER ADMITS SIGNIFICANT HEALTH AND SAFETY RISKS DUE TO A PARTICULAR ENGINE, BUT ONLY INCLUDES ONE MODEL THAT UTILIZES THIS ENGINE. I DO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS WAS A VOLUNTARY RECALL, BUT I BELIEVE THAT BOTH VEHICLE MODELS SHOULD BE INCLUDED UNDER THIS RECALL, SINCE IT RELATES TO THE ENGINE, NOT THE SPECIFIC VEHICLE UTILIZING IT.
CAMSHAFT AND LIFTER PROBLEM. CAMSHAFT HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO LIFTER NOT OPERATING PROPERLY AND WEARING OUT CAMSHAFT.
OIL FILTER HOUSING CRACKED AND DEEDED REPLACED. WAS TOLD THIS WAS VERY COMMON WITH JEEPS AND COST $1400 TO REPLACE.
THE ENGINE STARTED MISFIRING. CODE READER SAID #6 CYLINDER. PLUG, COIL, AND INJECTOR DIDN'T FIX IT. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSES LEFT CYLINDER HEAD BAD. CYLINDER 6 LOSING 65% COMPRESSION. AT 75K MILES I WAS 2 WEEKS FROM OUT OF WARRANTY. DEALER SAID IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BUT THEY WAIT UNTIL THEY GO BAD TO CHANGE THEM. I EXPECT THIS COST CUSTOMERS A LOT OF MONEY FOR A BIG EXPENSIVE KNOWN PROBLEM THAT THEY WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR.
OIL WAS CONSTANTLY RUNNING LOW, AND ON 2 OCCASIONS WAS FOUND TO BE EMPTY, EVEN AFTER OIL CHANGES. NO SIGNS OF LEAKS OR OIL BURNING, SO I ASSUMED THE DEALERSHIP SCREWED UP. OVER THE SUMMER, THE CONDENSATION FROM THE A/C WAS LEAVING STAINS ON MY DRIVEWAY, BUT STILL NO SIGNS OF OIL. A GOOGLE SEARCH OF A/C CONDENSATION WATER STAINS FOR MY JEEP REVEALED THAT THE ENGINE OIL COOLER MIGHT BE THE CAUSE. SURE ENOUGH, AN INSPECTION REVEALED OIL SITTING AROUND THE OIL COOLER. I TOOK IT TO PELLEGRINO JEEP AND THEY CONFIRMED THE OIL COOLER HAD CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR COST ME A LITTLE OVER $1000! UNLESS JEEP REDESIGNED THIS PART, I WILL EVENTUALLY EXPERIENCE ANOTHER OUT OF WARRANTY FAILURE. WHEN JEEP WAS CONTACTED, THEY DID NOT PROVIDE ANY HELP SINCE MY VEHICLE HAD 73K MILES ON IT AND WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. MY CONTENTION IS THAT THERE REALLY IS NO WAY TO DETERMINE HOW MANY MILES WERE ON THE VEHICLE WHEN THE PART FAILED. ITS A KNOWN FACT THAT JEEP CHANGED THE DESIGN OF THE PART FROM METAL TO PLASTIC. THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR JEEPS ENGINEERING ERRORS. I'M FEARFUL THAT MY ENGINE MAY HAVE SUFFERED IRREPARABLE DAMAGE, CAUSING PREMATURE FAILURE.
THE CAR BURNS EXCESSIVE OIL, THE ONLY WARNING OF THIS IS THE CAR SHUTS OFF POWER REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED AND LOCATION (I COULD BE DRIVING 65 MPH AND IT JUST SHUTS OFF POWER TO THE ENGINE ) AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. ANYONE BEHIND BE CAN CRASH INTO ME AND THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO. JEEP SAYS THE OIL BURNING IS NORMAL. (5 QUARTS IN 4000 MILES IS NOT NORMAL) NOT HAVING ANY WARNING NOTIFICATION OF THIS IS NOT NORMAL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES FOR AN UNKNOWN EMISSIONS RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TO WARM UP FOR TEN MINUTES BEFORE PULLING OUT AND ACCELERATING INTO TRAFFIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH THE THROTTLE RESPONSE BEING DELAYED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. AUBURN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1901 GRASS VALLEY HWY, AUBURN, CA 95603, 888-268-8026) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED LIKE OTHER VEHICLES THAT NEEDED THE EMISSIONS REFLASHED; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER THE EMISSIONS RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,182. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
HAD THE ECODIESEL AEM RECALL DONE, THE DRIVABILITY OF THE VEHICLE WITH THE TURBO LAG CAN BE DANGEROUS AT TIMES, THE LAG CAN BE SEVERAL SECONDS, AND WHEN MERGING WITH TRAFFIC ENTERING TRAFFIC YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHEN IT COMES AND GOES.

MALFUNCTION INDICATOR WARNING HAD DISPLAYED VEHICLE WOULD NOT PROPERLY ACCELERATE FAULTY ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE TO ACCELERATE AND WHILE IDLING THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE. DURING THE FAILURE THE 'MALFUNCTION INDICATOR' SENSOR LIGHT HAD DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP, IT IDLED LOW AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CLASSIC MOTORS JEEP CHRYSLER (120 SOUTH MAIN STREET, RITCHFIELD, UTAH, (435)-896-444) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 59742917. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,064.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE 4X4 WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE CONSTANTLY LEAKED 4X4 FLUIDS, INCLUDING OIL, FUEL, AND COOLANT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,412.
AT 115,000 I NOTICED A PUDDLE OF OIL UNDER THE CAR. TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP THE DIAGNOSED AS A BAD TRANSMISSION PAN AND PERFORMED THE REPAIR AT A COST OF $390.35. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE REPAIR SHOP AND TOOK IT HOME. THE FOLLOWING NIGHT I NOTICED A PUDDLE OF OIL UNDER THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND WORSE THEN WHEN I TOOK IT IN THE FIRST TIME. AFTER FURTHER DIAGNOSTICS IT WAS DETERMINED THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER HOUSING WAS CRACKED AND NEED REPLACEMENT. I HAD THE REPAIR DONE AT A COST OF $1027.03. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I NOTICED THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE 3.6 V6.
CHRYSLER (JEEP) HAS A LONG RUNNING PROBLEM WITH EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BREAKING PREMATURELY AS IN MY CASE (75,000 MILES). IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND PLACES THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE IN DANGER DUE TO EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT, IN ADDITION TO EXTREMELY HOT EXHAUST GASES CREATING A FIRE HAZARD IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. CHRYSLER WILL NOT WARRANT "FASTENERS" OR FIX THE ISSUE IN IT'S MANUFACTURING PLANTS AND LEAVES THE OWNER WITH A VERY LARGE BILL TO FIX IT. CAN YOU PLEASE RESEARCH AND MAKE CHRYSLER RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTINUING TO ALLOW A KNOWN AND DANGEROUS SITUATION TO CONTINUE? I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER AND FILED A COMPLAINT AND REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE
THE MOST RECENT RECALL TO CORRECT ENGINE PROGRAMMING TO MEET EMISSIONS HAS HAD A SEVERE IMPACT ON ENGINE AND VEHICLE PERFORMANCE. THERE IS A SEVERAL SECOND DELAY IN ACCELERATION FROM WHEN THE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS PRESSED TO WHEN THE VEHICLE RESPONDS AND BEGINS TO MOVE, THAT DID NOT EXIST PRIOR TO RECALL REPAIRS. THIS DELAY IS MOST NOTICEABLE FROM A STANDING START. THE DELAY IN ACCELERATION IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE WHEN THE DRIVER MAKES A DECISION TO ACCELERATE AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND ACCIDENTS COULD OCCUR.
OIL COOLER LEAKING, CHRYSLER CORP CHANGE PART THAT USED TO BE METAL TO PLASTIC IN 2014 AND THESE OIL COOLERS LEAK/ SEALS WEAR OUT AT LOW MILES. JEEP JUST STARTED TO LEAK OIL AND FROM A PART THAT SHOULD NOT FAIL AT 80K MILES
DROVE MY CAR A SHORT DISTANCE TO A DESTINATION. TURNED THE CAR OFF TO COMPLETE MY ERRAND. RETURNED TO MY CAR 10 MINUTES LATE AND MY CAR WOULD NOT START. THE EQUIPMENT WOULD COME ON,I.E. RADIO, LIGHTS, BUT BRAKE SEEMED TO BE LOCKED AND ENGINE WOULD NOT START. THIS HAPPENED DURING CITY STREET DRIVING. I JUST PURCHASE THE GARDEN THE DEALER ABOUT 3MOS AGO.
I HAVE A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DIESEL MODEL WHEN I'M DRIVING A LOT OF DIESEL FUMES ENTER THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE I CHANGED CABIN FILTER AND STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM
WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH OUR 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS WITH SOME DELAY IN ACCELERATION WHEN AT COMPLETE STOP AND THEN LURCHING FORWARD. OUR ALTERNATOR IS NOW NEEDING TO BE REPLACED AND IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST FOR 2014 JEEPS WITH DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR. OURS CLEARLY HAS A DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR.
LIFTERS COLLAPSED INTO THE ENGINE AT 145K MILES REQUIRING INSTALLATION OF NEW ENGINE. VEHICLE WAS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD. AT 2 YEARS OF AGE VEHICLE WAS MAKING KNOCKING NOISES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. WE BROUGHT IT IN FOR REPAIRS MULTIPLE TIMES REPLACING ALL LIFTERS, ROCKERS, CAM SHAFT AND CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ALL AT OUR EXPENSE. EACH TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON IN LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AND THE KNOCKING CONTINUED. AFTER SPENDING ALL OF THIS MONEY THE END RESULT IS HAVING TO SPEND MORE ON THE NEW ENGINE.
THE VEHICLE HESITATES TO START WHEN PUSHING THE BUTTON. TAKES MULTIPLE REPEATED TIMES TO START.
I HAD MY VEHICLE IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE EXACTLY 2 MONTHS AGO, MILEAGE WAS AT 58733. THE OTHER DAY AFTER A TRIP OUT OF TOWN, I NOTICED A LARGE PUDDLE OF OIL UNDER MY CAR. TAKE MY CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP, MILEAGE IS NOW AT 60579, THINKING MAYBE SOMETHING WASN'T TIGHTENED PROPERLY AFTER THE OIL CHANGE TO FIND OUT THAT MY OIL FILTER ADAPTER HOUSING IS LEAKING DOWN THE BELL HOUSING. THE OIL LEAK WAS NOTICED WHILE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. MY VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY, IT JUST RAN OUT 7 MONTHS. REPAIRS COST ME $1200.00. I REACHED OUT TO DEALER AFTER READING ALL THE KNOWN ISSUES WITH THIS PROBLEM WITH JEEP AND ASKED IF THE HOUSING COULD HAVE BEEN CRACKED UPON THE LAST OIL CHANGE. OBVIOUSLY, I DO NOT REALLY DRIVE THAT MUCH BUT AFTER THIS LONG TRIP IS WHEN THE OIL REALLY POURED OUT OF THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AN UNKNOWN DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.*DT *TR
AT THE TIME WHEN THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY HAS JUST RUN - THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER BRACKET HAS STARTED LEAKING CAUSING OIL LOSS IN THE ENGINE. THIS WAS FOUND BY THE OIL SPOTS ON THE DRIVEWAY THAT WERE NEVER THERE BEFORE. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND TSB SB-10058301-5939 IN THE NHTSA WEB SITE. THE TSB TELLS THE MECHANIC TO USE A WOODEN DOWEL PUSHED DOWN ALONG THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE OIL FILTER INTO THE "VALLEY" AND WHEN IT IS PULLED OUT TO LOOK FOR OIL ON THE TIP. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I FOUND. THE OIL FINDS ITS WAY AROUND THE BLOCK AND ALONG THE TRANSMISSION AND DRIPS OFF THE SHIELD ONTO THE GROUND. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR AS THE PART ALONE IS RUMORED TO BE $799 PLUS THE LABOR. IT IS AN DESIGN FLAW IN THAT IT IS A PLASTIC PART WHERE PREVIOUSLY IT WAS A METAL PART - COST SAVINGS THAT CREATED A DEFECT. SO FAR -I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THE DEALER TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. AND I CAN NOT AFFORD THE REPAIR ON MY OWN. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF A FIRE WHEN THE OIL IS LAYING ON TOP OF A HOT ENGINE IS A PUDDLE.
2014 JGC WITH PENTASTAR 3.6L V6 GAS ENGINE STARTED MAKING A TICKING SOUND AT START UP APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS AGO. THE SOUND DID NOT DIMINISH AFTER WARM UP. DIAGNOSED TODAY AS A FAILED LIFTER AND POSSIBLE CAM DAMAGE AS WELL. INQUIRED OF THE DEALER ABOUT TSB 09-002-14 AND WAS TOLD THIS ISSUE WAS LIMITED TO ONLY 2011-2013 MODEL YEARS AND THAT THE ENGINE IN MY VEHICLE WAS MADE AFTER THE DATE OF THE AFFECTED ENGINES AND WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE REPAIR/WARRANTY BEING OFFERED BY FCA REGARDING THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN JUNE 2013 AND PURCHASES IN SEPTEMBER 2013.
TURBOCHARGER WATER COOLING INLET, MOPAR PART NUMBER 68242889AA, IS EXPOSED TO HIGH TEMPERATURES ON THE HOT SIDE OF THE TURBO, AND THE RUBBER HEATER HOSE THAT JOINS THE TWO METAL SECTIONS SUBSEQUENTLY FAILS. THIS RESULTS IN A COMPLETE LOSS OF COOLANT, ENGINE FAILURE, AND EXTREME TEMPERATURE WHICH MAY CONTRIBUTE TO A FIRE HAZARD. IN ADDITION TO MY PERSONAL VEHICLE FAILING, I KNOW OF AT LEAST 5 OTHER JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES AND RAM TRUCKS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. ALL THESE SHARE THE 3.0 ECODIESEL ENGINE.
[XXX] JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO, [XXX] JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO HAS FORMED A CRACK IN THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER. BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION, DESIGN, AND MATERIAL, THE PART IS PRONE TO CRACKING AND LEAKING (TYPICALLY SPURRED BY AN OIL CHANGE WHEN THE CAP IS SCREWED BACK ONTO THE HOUSING). THIS CRACK CREATES A SLOW LEAK OF OIL INTO THE ENGINE HOUSING AND BELOW THE VEHICLE. THIS OIL LEAK CAN CONTINUE WITHOUT OBVIOUS WARNING AND IF NOT CORRECTED, COULD RESULT IN SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE WITH THE POTENTIAL OF MALFUNCTIONING WHILE IN USE THEREFORE POSING A SAFETY THREAT TO THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS AND OTHER DRIVERS. I HAVE ALERTED JEEP TO THE ISSUE AND I WILL NOTE THAT I HAVE SPOKE TO SEVERAL MECHANICS WHO HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL OF THESE PARTS IN THIS VEHICLE. IT IS A MANUFACTURING DESIGN FLAW AND COSTING LOYAL CUSTOMERS AND POSING A DANGER ON THE ROADS. I HAVE REPORTED THIS INFORMATION TO JEEP (OR WHOMEVER THEY CONTRACT CUSTOMER SERVICE TO) AND THEY DOCUMENTED MY INFORMATION BUT REFUSED TO CORRECT THE SITUATION FOR MYSELF (AND OTHERS IN THE FUTURE) AND TOLD ME TO HOLD ONTO MY REPAIR INFORMATION IN CASE A RECALL TAKES PLACE IN THE FUTURE. JEEP SHOULD TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THIS EVER GROWING ISSUE AND RECALL THIS PART IMMEDIATELY. PLEASE HELP ME IN ENSURING THEY DO THE RIGHT THING FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS AND FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
OIL FILTER HOUSING: BETWEEN MY TWO OIL CHANGES I NOTICED A SMALL OIL LEAK UNDER MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED 3.6L. I TOOK IT TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND I WAS INFORMED THE LEAKAGE WAS DO TO A BAD "OIL FILTER HOUSING" AND THE PART WITH REPAIRS WOULD BE 799.99. I ASKED IF THIS SHOULD BE INCLUDED UNDER MY 5 YEAR / 100,000 WARRANTY BUT THEY SAID THE WARRANTY EXPIRED ON 10/24/2018 AND TODAY IS 2/5/2019. I CALLED CHRYLER AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND THEY CANNOT OFFER TO COVER THE REPAIR; IT WOULD BE AN "OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE". SO I GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND IT APPEARS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUES IN ALL THE FORUMS AND THREADS I READ. APPARENTLY CHRYSLER CHANGED THIS PART FROM METAL TO PLASTIC PART FOR THEIR 2014 MODELS AND LATER AND NOW THE PART IS FAILING ALL OVER THE PLACE. I REGISTERED A CASE NUMBER WITH CHRYSLER BUT I PROBABLY SHOULD NOT POST THAT IN A PUBLIC FORUM. I AM HOPING TO EVENTUALLY HAVE THIS ITEM AS A RECALL ITEM FOR 2014 AND NEWER VEHICLES. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE.
MOTOR OIL IS LEAKING FROM THE OIL COOLER/FILTER HOUSING. OIL HAS PUDDLED IN THE ENGINE VALLEY AND RUN DOWN THE BACK OF THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION BELL HOUSING. VEHICLE SMELLS LIKE HOT MOTOR OIL AND OIL LEVEL WAS LOW.
OIL COOLER HOUSING ON MY 3.6 L PENTASTAR ENGINE, WHICH IS MADE OF PLASTIC, HAS DEVELOPED A CRACK CAUSING MOTOR OIL TO LEAK ONTO THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. THERE COULD BE A POTENTIAL FOR A FIRE. DEALER HAS THESE ON BACK ORDER. THIS PART USED TO BE MADE OF METAL ON PRIOR MODELS AND WAS NOT AN ISSUE. SOUNDS TO ME THAT THIS PART SHOULD BE REDESIGNED.
WHILE I WAS IDLING IN A PARKING LOT A COOLANT HOSE TO MY TURBO SPLIT. THIS HOSE ( THE SIZE OF YOUR THUMB) IS UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND IS NOT ACCESSIBLE TO CHECK AND MAINTAIN. SEEING THAT THIS HOSE IS A FEW INCHES FROM THE TURBO AND EVEN CLOSER TO THE RIGHT ENGINE BANK, THE HEAT IS EXTREME. THE HOSE IS A RUBBER HOSE NOT UNLIKE A LAWN MOWER GAS HOSE. IF IT WASN'T FOR THE SMELL OF HOT COOLANT AND BEING STATIONARY, THE ENGINE WOULD OF LOST IT'S COOLANT WITHOUT ANY SIGNS. THE MAINTENANCE PORTION OF THE OWNERS MANUAL ASSUMES WE CAN SEE AND GET AT ALL COOLANT HOSES. THE TURBO HOSE SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN THE COOLANT THAT IN IT, ON MINE IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000 MILES. A STEEL BRADED HOSE WOULD BE MORE APPROPRIATE IN THIS LOCATION. ATTACHED IS THE PORTION OF THE OWNERS MANUAL AND A PICTURE OF THE NEW HOSE IN PLACE. TO REPLACE THIS HOSE THE DEALER HAD TO DROP THE ENGINE OUT OF THE TRUCK AND IT TOOK OVER 10 WEEKS TO GET IT BACK.
FAILURE OF A HEATER HOSE WHILE DRIVING CAUSED EXCESSIVE OVERHEATING WHICH LED TO ENGINE FAILURE. DEALER SAYS THAT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER HOSES THEREFORE THE COST OF REPLACING THE DIESEL ENGINE IS MY RESPONSIBILITY. THE COST IS NEARLY $17,000. I WOULD LIKE AN INVESTIGATION INTO WHY THE HOSE FAILED. WAS IT DUE TO DAMAGE CAUSED DURING PREVIOUS ENGINE WORK?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 5-15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AFTER A BEEPING NOISE WAS HEARD INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURES WERE INTERMITTENT AND THAT THE VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL, IN MOST CASES, AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME. DUANE LANE'S CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (10515 EVERGREEN WAY, EVERETT, WASHINGTON 98204, (425) 953-1295) DIAGNOSED THAT THE SURGE CANISTER UNDERNEATH THE HOOD WAS FAULTY DUE TO AN EVAPORATION LEAK. THE SURGE CANISTER WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURES RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
LEAK FROM THE OIL COOLER HOUSING ON ENGINE CAUSING A POOLING OF OIL MAKING A FIRE HAZARD
CALL STALLED DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE ALTERNATOR, WHICH WAS SUBJECT TO RECALL. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT, SO I JUST DROPPED MY CAR OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP PER CHRYSLER CORP. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR AND FOUND THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A CHARGE OF 350 DOLLARS. I INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE MESSAGE CENTER ON THE CAR INDICATED THAT THE CAR WAS ENTERING "BATTER SAVER MODE" AS IT SHUTDOWN. THE MANUAL FOR THE VEHICLE INDICATES THAT THE VEHICLE ENTERS THIS MODE WHEN THE BATTERY IS NOT BEING CHARGED, THE PRIMARY FUNCTION OF THE ALTERNATOR. I REQUESTED THAT THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE THE BATTERY AS ITS DEPLETION WAS DUE TO A FAULTY ALTERNATOR, THEY DECLINED. THEY STATED THAT ALTHOUGH THE ALTERNATOR WAS FAULTY IT DID NOT DO ANY DAMAGE TO THE BATTERY.
OIL PRESSURE SENSOR LIGHT ON AT 50,000 MILES...PULLING CODE P0250
68105583AF - THIS IS A 2014 SPECIFIC PART WHICH APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM ON MANY 'PENTASTAR V6' ENGINES FROM CHRYSLER. MULTIPLE VEHICLE MODELS - SAME ENGINE - SAME COOLER. THIS HOUSING IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND EXPOSED TO HEAT WHILE DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE ENGINE- THE PLASTIC AND ITS ANGLE RELATIVE TO THE ENGINE LENDS ITSELF TO THE LACK OF DURABILITY OF THE COMPONENT. SINCE THE CARTRIDGE OIL FILTER SITS AT AN ANGLE, PRESSURE IS APPLIED AT THE SHOULDER CAUSING CRACKS AROUND THE HOUSING DURING TIGHTENING AT OIL CHANGES. THE PLASTIC NEEDS TO BE MADE THICKER OR MADE OUT OF SOME DIFFERENT AND MORE DURABLE MATERIAL. FURTHER, THE CONSUMER NEEDS TO BE NOTIFIED THAT THIS IS A REAL ISSUE AND CAN APPEAR TO BE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AREA WHEN IN FACT IT IS NOT. DEFINITELY NOT SAFE THAT AN UNWITTING DRIVER CAN FIND THEMSELVES OUT OF OIL POSSIBLY IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. I AM WILLING TO SUBMIT PHOTOS ONCE I AM ABLE TO REPLACE THIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A PREMATURE OIL LEAK UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER (RIVERDALE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM, 5869 BROADWAY, BRONX, NY 10463, (718) 548-2800) INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE OIL HOUSING FILTER. THE MANUFACTURER HAD A CAMPAIGN TO REPLACE THE SEAL, WHICH THEY STATED THAT THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN; HOWEVER, THE DEALER HAD NOT FULLY INSPECTED THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
ENGINE FAILED. THE ENGINE (5.7L HEMI) FAILED IN MIDDLE OF SIX LANE ROAD. FORTUNATELY NOT MUCH TRAFFIC AROUND VEHICLE WHEN ENGINE FAILED. IF THIS HAPPENED ON INTERSTATE IT COULD HAVE A SUBSTANTIAL SAFETY RISK. MECHANIC REPORTED THE ENGINE LOST A ROD AND DAMAGED THE BLOCK. SINCE VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY, THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. ONLY 47000 MILES ON ENGINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED A SEMI TRUCK AND DROVE INTO A FIELD. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
ON 9/24/2016 I WAS DRIVING IN FLORIDA GOING ON VACATION AND THE MOTOR (PENTASTAR V-6) STARTED MISFIRING. TOOK IT TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP IN FORT WALTON, FL AND WAS TOLD THAT IT NEED A TUNE UP. WAS CHARGED $308.67 FOR THE TUNE UP. DROVE THE VEHICLE ABOUT 10 MILES AND THE MISFIRING STARTED AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW HEAD. THEY REPLACED THE HEAD AND WE TOOK THE VEHICLE AND STARTED BACK TO OUR CONDO AND IT STARTED MISFIRING AGAIN. WE LEFT THE NEXT DAY AND RETURNED TO OUR HOME IN WEST VIRGINIA. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP HERE IN CHARLESTON, WV AND THEY SAID IT WAS A BAD COIL. WE WERE AGAIN CHARGED AND THE TOTAL WAS $279.27. IT APPEARS TO BE FIXED. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEMS AND APPEARS THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF THESE MOTORS WITH THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM.
DURING DRIVING CAR BEGAN MAKING NOISE AND TEMPERATURE BEGAN TO RISE. DEALER SAYS WATER PUMP HAS FAILED, CAUSING POTENTIAL OVERHEATING. PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER. PER DEALER, (SANSONE JEEP, AVENEL NJ) 150 WATER PUMPS ARE ON BACKORDER. VEHICLE IS IN POSSESSION OF DEALER FOR 1 WEEK AT TIME OF THIS COMPLAINT. VEHICLE HAS 28K MILES AND ALWAYS SERVICED BY DEALER. LARGE NUMBER OF BACKORDERED PARTS INDICATES SIGNIFICANT VOLUME OF REPAIRS AND LIKELY DESIGN FLAWS.
VEHICLE FAILED SUDDENLY WHILE TURNING IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION (CITY DRIVING). VEHICLE SYSTEMS REPORTED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE MODULE FAILURE, ELECTRONIC BARKING SYSTEM FAILURE, AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILURE, VEHICLE SENSOR FAILURE ALL SIMULTANEOUSLY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 21,000.
COLD WEATHER CAUSES IDLER PULLEY TO MAKE A WHISTLING NOISE.
WHEN IDLING IN TRAFFIC WITH FOOT ON BRAKE, THE RPM'S ON THE TRANSMISSION ACCELERATES FOR UNKNOWN REASONS UNTIL THE ENGINE IS DISENGAGED AND PLACED INTO PARK OR NETURAL. THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED FIVE TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR - DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO FIX PROBLEM.
AFTER ENTERING THE FREEWAY, THE CAR AUTONOMOUSLY SHIFTED ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THIS INCIDENT HAS REPEATED ITSELF DOZENS OF TIMES IN VARIOUS DRIVING SITUATIONS SINCE JUNE OF LAST YEAR (2014), JUST AFTER BEGINNING MY LEASE. SOMETIMES, AS IN THIS INSTANCE, I WAS ABLE TO PUSH THE START BUTTON AND THE ENGINE TURNED BACK ON, EVEN WHILE ROLLING IN NEUTRAL AT SPEED. IN MOST INSTANCES, THE CONDITION HAPPENS AS SLOWER SPEEDS (<30MPH) AND I AM UNABLE TO RESTART UNTIL COAST OFF THE ROADWAY, COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, DEPRESS THE BRAKE, SHIFT FROM NEUTRAL INTO PARK, AND THEN RESTART. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IN TRAFFIC I AM HELPLESS AS I ATTEMPT TO COAST TO SAFETY AS SPEEDING CARS RACE AROUND ME ON BOTH SIDES. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP(S) AT LEAST A HALF-DOZEN TIMES. ON THE VERY FIRST VISIT, I SAW THAT THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC READOUT SAID, "IMPROBABLE TORQUE CONVERSION". SINCE THAT FIRST TIME, I HAVE NOT SEEN READOUTS AND THEY'VE NOT BEEN SHARED. TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS HAVE TEST-DRIVEN THE VEHICLE AND CLAIM THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE MALFUNCTION. WELL, NEITHER AM I. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND I AM UNABLE TO DELIBERATELY CAUSE IT. NONETHELESS, IT HAPPENS. A CHIEF CONCERN OF MINE IS THE SEEMING LIMITATION OF THE SERVICE TECHNICIANS. UNLESS THE COMPUTER IDENTIFIES A PROBLEM, THEY SEEM TO BE SATISFIED THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM; THEY HAVE APPARENTLY NO ABILITY TO CONSIDER ANY OTHER FORM OF DIAGNOSTIC CURIOSITY. THEY CLAIM THAT THEY'VE SEARCHED AND FIND NO OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS CONDITION. YET, A CURSORY GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALS THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR INSTANCES WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. AT THIS POINT, I ONLY DRIVE THE CAR WHEN THERE ARE NO OTHER PRACTICAL OPTIONS. I DO NOT TAKE MY FAMILY OR PASSENGERS IN THE CAR. I'M RENTING CARS OR UBERING MORE OFTEN. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO CHRYSLER AND HAVE FILED AN ISSUE. NO RESPONSE YET. CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE!
UPON STARTING CAR BLUE/GRAY SMOKE COMES OUT OF EXHAUST. SMOKE BILLOWS FOR 30-40 SECONDS. RECURRING ISSUE SPECIFICALLY WHEN CAR IS PARKED ON INCLINE IN DRIVEWAY. BEEN TOLD BY DEALER THERE IS NO RECALL BUT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM.
EVENT OCCURRED DECEMBER 22, 2014. AFTER MULTIPLE MONTHLY CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AND "REPLACE" OF THE COMPUTER, THE VEHICLE INFORMATION CENTER GAVE A WARNING OF "INCORRECT DEF DETECTED." (ONLY MOPAR DEF HAD BEEN USED). WITHIN 10 MILES THE VIC WARNING STATED "VEHICLE WILL NOT RESTART IN 200 MILES." RETURN TO THE DEALER AGAIN AFTER THE PREVIOUS VISIT 3 DAYS PRIOR TO "REFLASH" THE COMPUTER INDICATED A RECENT TSB FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I ALSO HAD THEM CHECK THE DEF PUMP AND NOZZLE WHICH WAS CLOGGED WITH CRYSTALLIZED DEF. AFTER TWO WEEKS OF WAITING WITH THEM NOT ABLE TO FIND A CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND NEW OXYGEN SENSOR I WAS FORCED TO TRADE THE VEHICLE AT A LOSS. (CHRYSLER WOULD NOT OFFER ANY HELP ON THE TRADE). UPDATE 9/15/15*CW ON JUNE 7, 2014 THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE STEERING SENSOR SHORTED OUT. ON AUGUST 12, 2014, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE PCM SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED. ON AUGUST 14, 2015, THE CLOCKSPRING WAS REPLACED. THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED SEVERAL MORE TIMES. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 10/01/15*JB UPDATED 12/23/15.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE WAS UPGRADED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,388.
DURING A DRIVE UP A MOUNTAIN GRADE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND TOWING A RECREATIONAL BOAT ON 7-4-15, OUR 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH THE 3.0L ECODIESEL ENGINE OVERHEATED (I.E. COOLANT) AND THE OIL TEMPERATURE REACH OVER 300 DEGREES. THESE CONDITIONS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO A VERY SLOW DRIVING CONDITION (I.E. 5MPH) ON A TWO (2) LANE HIGHWAY CAUSING A TRAFFIC JAM BEHIND US AND A DANGEROUS SITUATION SINCE TURNOUT LANES WERE INFREQUENT. WHEN OPENING THE HOOD, IT APPEARED THAT THE COOLANT HAD SPRAYED OUT OF THE RESERVOIR THROUGH THE CAP AND ONTO THE ENGINE. WE ATTEMPTED TO COOL THE ENGINE DOWN OVER A TWO (2) HOUR PERIOD AND ADDED OVER 1.5 GALLONS OF A WATER/COOLANT MIXTURE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STILL OVERHEATED AND HAD THE ENGINE OIL REACH OVER 300 DEGREES UNTIL WE COULD PARK IT FOR SEVERAL MORE HOURS. THE VEHICLE IS RATED TO TOW 7200LBS. WITH THE FACTORY INSTALLED TOWING PACKAGE HOWEVER, JEEP CURIOUSLY DID NOT INSTALL A TOWING FEATURE ON THE MODEL TO HELP WITH SHIFTING, ETC. THE BOAT AND TRAILER WEIGHS LESS THAN 3450LBS. THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION AND I AM AFRAID THAT THE ISSUE HAS DAMAGED THE ENGINE. THE JEEP/CHRYSLER ASSISTANCE LINE WOULD ONLY TOW THE VEHICLE BUT NOT OUR BOAT AND WAS NO HELP TO US SO WE WERE LEFT ON OUR OWN DURING OUR 4TH OF JULY VACATION. JEEP NEEDS TO PROVIDE A TOWING FEATURE, INSTALL A HEAVY DUTY ADDITIONAL OIL COOLER AND ADDITIONAL ENGINE COOLING PROVISIONS FOR THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES WITH THE 3.0L ECODIESEL AND FACTORY TOWING PACKAGE FROM A SAFETY AND EQUIPMENT RELIABILITY/LONGEVITY PERSPECTIVE. PLEASE ASSIST US. THANK YOU.
ENTER VEHICLE AND PLACED IT IN THE RUN POSITION, I HEARD A DING FROM THE CONSOLE AND NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT HAD ILLUMINATED. I THEN DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES HOWEVER THE LIGHT STAYED ILLUMINATED. THE DEALERS' SERVICE ADVISOR STATES THAT IT WILL BE TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN SERVICE THE VEHICLE. HE ADVISED THAT I CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, AS I NORMALLY WOULD, WITH THE SERVE MALFUNCTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED???? THAT MAKES NO SENSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION WITH THE OIL PRESSURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUMES EMITTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,300.
IT APPEAR DEF SYSTEM AND CAT CONVERTER NOT PROPERLY DESIGNED VEHICLE IN 3 TIMES FOR SAME FAILURE CODE P20EE ALL ISSUES RELATE TO EMISSIONS AND SENSORS THERE'S A PUMP AND A SCREEN OR TWO BUT CLOGS CRYSTALLIZATION ARE WHAT CASES VEHICLE TO INITIATE A COUNTDOWN TIMER TIL ENGINE STOPS MY VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR NOW THIS IS ISSUE FOR DIESEL VEHICLES ONLY I AM ALSO ON JEEP WEBSITE OR MORE SO FORUMS EVERYONE SEEMS TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. *TR
IN LESS THAN A YEAR OF OWNERSHIP MY CAR STARTED WITH THE PROBLEMS. ON 8/19/14 THE CAR IDLES BUT IT WILL NOT START. TOWED IT TO MIDWAY JEEP AND CHRYSLER THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME RUNNING BUT WAS TOLD THEY WOULD BE ORDERING A TIPM PART WHICH IS PART OF A RECALL. ON 9/4/14 I CAME BACK AND THE TIPM WAS REPLACED. ON 12/17/14 THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN AND ANOTHER TIPM WAS REPLACED. IT IS NOW 2/27/15 AND I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CAR HAS BEEN TOWED AGAIN. THIS IS A LEMON. *TR
ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS VEHICLE HAD ISSUE SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR LURCHING FORWARD EVEN WHEN AT A STOP AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE BREAK. THE VEHICLE ALSO HAD THREE ISSUES WITH THE DEF SENSORS WHICH WERE WORKED ON OR REPLACED THREE SEPARATE TIMES. SINCE THE LAST FIXED WAS JUST DONE ON OR APPROXIMATELY AROUND FEBRUARY 1ST , I WILL BE WAITING TO SEE IF THE ISSUE CONTINUES. THE LATEST ISSUE IS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE CATALYST. IT'S HAVING AN ISSUE SENSING THAT THE VEHICLE IS CREATING ENOUGH HEAT TO BURN OFF BY PRODUCT. IT IS SLATED TO BE REPLACED WITHIN TWO WEEKS. I HAVE BEEN NOTIFYING JEEP ABOUT ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS. I HAVE A CASE MANAGER WORKING ON THE PROBLEMS. I HAVE READ SEVERAL SITES THAT SHOW THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH AN EXPOSED DEF SENSOR WHICH JEEP IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING. IT IS THE NEW ECO-DIESEL ENGINE. *TR
GRAND CHEROKEE JEEP SUV, 2014, A BRAND NEW VEHICLE FROM TATE CHRYSLER CAR DEALER IN FREDERICK, MD ON 21 JULY 2014 WITH ONLY 251 MILES. AND I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN FULL WITH CASH AND I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TWO MONTHS TO PURCHASE THE LIFETIME WARRANTY, ON THE DAY I RETURNED TO PURCHASE THE LIFETIME WARRANTY, THE FINANCIAL MANAGER TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR MY VEHICLE. I DID COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SMELL OF FUSES COMING FROM THE ENGINE OF A NEW VEHICLE NOW TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIME, NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN MY SUV IS NOT QUALIFIED FOR A LIFETIME WARRANTY. I STILL PURCHASES THE BUMP TO BUMP 120,000 MILES EXTEND WARRANTY ANYWAY, BUT THE DEALER HAS NOT SOLVE MY PROBLEM OF THE SMELL OF FUSES COMING FROM THE ENGINE, THEY DIDNOT TAKE ME SERIOUSLY, CONCERNING THE SMELL FROM THE ENGINE. I CAME HOME FROM WORK AND MY HUSBAND TOLD ME THEY HAVE A RE-CALL ON MY VEHICLE. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND ASKED THE QUESTION COULD THIS BE A RESULT OF THE SMELL THAT WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE, AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME NO IT DIDNOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT. BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT TO SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO REPAIR THE RE-CALL PROBLEM, I AM STILL SMELL FUSES FROM MY ENGINE AND NOW THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THIS IS WHY I BELIEVE TATE CHRYSLER DELIBERATELY SOLD ME A VEHICLE THAT THEY KNEW OF MECHANICAL PROBLEMS AND DID NOT WANT TO GIVE ME A LIFETIME WARRANTY. I WORKED VERY HARD TO BE ABLE TO PURCHASES WHAT I NEED AND I REALLY LIKE THE STYLE OF THIS VEHICLE THAT I AM DRIVING BUT I DO BELIEVE THE DEALER SOLD ME A LEMON OR A VEHICLE WITH SERIOUS MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. FOR A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 6500 MILES AS 1 JANUARY 2015. AND I HAVE BEEN TO THE CAR DEALER ABOUT SMELL FROM ENGINE, TO MANY TIMES AND TATE CHRYSLER DEALER DID NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT. *JS
RECURRING ENGINE STALLS. DANGEROUS IF ON HIGHWAY OR GOING THROUGH INTERSECTION (WHICH OCCURRED IN MY CASE). VEHICLE IS AT DEALER FOR ENGINE REPAIR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS UPHILL AND TOWING A RECREATIONAL VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED. PER THE MANUFACTURER, THE VEHICLE'S MAXIMUM TOWING CAPACITY WEIGHT SHOULD BE 7,200 LBS., BUT THE RECREATIONAL VEHICLE WEIGHED LESS THAN 7,200 LBS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND STALLED. THERE WERE TWO MESSAGES THAT APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL: EXHAUST FILTER NEARING FLOW AND DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEED TO REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER, BUT THE RESULTS WERE UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,294.
THE DEF INJECTOR FOR THE 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ECODIESEL IS LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE BEHIND THE REAR WHEELS. IT IS VERY BRITTLE AND SENSITIVE AND IF A ROCK OR SPLASHING WATER FROM THE TIRE HITS THE INJECTOR IT WILL BREAK. THE JEEP WILL THEN GIVE ONLY 200 MILES TO THE DRIVER AND THEN WON'T START. THIS SEVERELY AFFECTS THE CONFIDENCE OF LONG DISTANCE TRAVEL OF THE DRIVER. THERE IS NO SKID PLATE OR PROTECTIVE PANEL TO MITIGATE THIS ISSUE EXCEPT IT BREAKING AND GETTING IT FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. EVEN WITH THE OPTIONAL OFF ROAD PACKAGES DOES IT NOT GET A PROTECTIVE PANEL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING UPHILL, IN WET OR RAINY CONDITIONS, THE NEW JEEP DIESEL 3.0L ENGINE STARTS TO HESITATE, THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE SEVERELY. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS AT 40MPH, AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY REFLASHED THE TCM WHICH I BELIEVE CHANGED THE SHIFT POINTS IN THE TRANSMISSION, WHILE DRIVING HOME THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED, THIS TIME AT 45MPH. I TOOK THE JEEP BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REFLASHED THE PCM, WHEN DRIVING HOME THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED, THIS TIME AT 50MPH. THIS ENGINE HESITATION CAUSES SEVERE VIBRATION, I AM WORRIED THAT IF THE ENGINE CUTS OUT AT THIS SPEED, IT WILL CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HAVE VIDEO FOOTAGE OF THIS OCCURRING. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK TO SERVICE GARAGE. DIAGNOSED WITH CK DTC'S-P0302 #2 CYLINDER MISFIRE. SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMS THEY ROAD TESTED -ISSUE CLEARED. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE, DROVE APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES WITH SAME ISSUE. I CALLED DEALER, THEY SAID TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK OR SO, AND SEE IF IT FIXES ITSELF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE TDI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND ALL OF THE WARNING LAMPS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 800.
VEHICLE STALLED AT A STOP LIGHT. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTERED NEUTRAL, BUT THE GEAR SHIFT WAS IN DRIVE, WITH THE ENGINE OFF. THE GEAR SHIFT WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT. CAR STALLED T RED LIGHT. ..UPDATED 08/19/13 *BF THE VEHICLE STARTED 15-20 MINUTES LATER. THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN SIX DAYS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. UPDATED 08/27/13
AFTER TAKING MY NEW JEEP INTO DEALER BECAUSE THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE 16 STORED CODES BUT THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEM AND THE COMPUTER WAS RESET. TWO DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AGAIN CAME ON. I TOOK BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD "THERE IS A LEAK IN THE FUEL TUBE" WE HAVE TO REPLACE IT BUT WE WILL HAVE TO ORDER THE PART; WE DON'T HAVE IT IN STOCK. I WAS TOLD "IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE"...A LEAK IN THE FUEL TUBE-WHAT THE HECK IS LEAKING-IS SAFE. OK, BUT TWO TRIPS TO THE DEALER WITH LESS THAN 2,500 MILES IS A BIT MUCH. I HAVE A 2006 JEEP, SAME MAKE/MODEL THAT HAD 1ST MAJOR REPAIR (WATER PUMP) AT 145,000 MILES....SO MUCH FOR IMPROVED MODELS. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A HARBINGER OF FUTURE ISSUES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUAL FOR THE VEHICLE STATED THAT THE ENGINE SHOULD SHUT OFF WHEN THE KEY FOB WAS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE IN A RESIDENTIAL GARAGE OVERNIGHT AND THE FOLLOWING DAY, HE FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL POWERED ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE FAILURE CAUSED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND FUEL PUMP TO FAIL. THE ENGINE BECAME EXTREMELY HOT AND REMAINED ON EVEN AFTER THERE WAS NO MORE FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST DUE TO USER ERROR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,093. *TR
THE VEHICLE STALLED FOR NO REASON. IT TOOK MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS (APPROX 10 TIMES) TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. IT WOULD START AND I COULD DRIVE 40-50 YARDS AND WOULD STALL AGAIN. MULTIPLE LIGHTS CAME ON SUCH AS VEHICLE IN GEAR (IT WASN'T), ETC. ONCE IT DID RESTART AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE DEALER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. THE VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS TWICE NOW WITHOUT CAUSE (I HAVE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 4 WEEKS). THE JEEP DEALERSHIP KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR A COUPLE DAYS. THEY WERE FINALLY ABLE TO RESET THE CODES AND DID A SOFTWARE UPDATE. I FOUND OUT A CRANK SENSOR HAD BEEN REPLACED BEFORE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE.THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT GUARANTY IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN AND TO CHECK BACK IN THE NEAR FUTURE AS ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE UPDATES MAY BECOME AVAILABLE. *TR
