Seat Belts Recalls (1)
SEAT BELTS
Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2014 Dodge Durango vehicles manufactured June 2, 2013, to June 28, 2014, and 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured October 30, 2012, to April 30, 2014. Due to a fault within the Occupant Restraint Control (OCR) module, the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags may be disabled. The malfunction indicator light MIL should illuminate to initially warn drivers of a failure.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ORC module, free of charge. The recall began on April 27, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is P67.

Your seat belt won't retract properly due to a crack where it enters the post, which compresses the belt. The dealership says replacement parts aren't currently available, leaving your seat belt non-functional. This is a critical safety issue since you're unable to use the seat belt as designed, only as a visual deterrent against tickets.

Your seatbelts aren't retracting properly—the passenger side seatbelt stopped working first, and now the driver side seatbelt is doing the same thing. This is a safety concern since seatbelts need to retract to stay out of the way and function properly in a crash.

Your seat belt won't retract properly because the D-ring anchors (the metal loops the belt feeds through) have cracked. This means the seat belt may not stay secured or could be difficult to fasten and unfasten. The D-ring assembly will likely need to be replaced to restore proper seat belt function.

Your driver's side seat belt won't retract back to its normal stored position, and your passenger seat belt is hanging loose and won't retract at all. This creates a safety hazard since the loose belt could get caught or fail to restrain occupants properly. The seat belt retraction mechanism likely needs repair or replacement.

I am reporting an unresolved safety recall issue on my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee (VIN: [XXX] ). On February 1, 2025, I brought my vehicle to Chapman Dodge Chrysler Jeep (3470 Boulder Highway) after being informed that the driver’s seatbelt retractor was part of a safety recall and needed replacement. I was initially told the replacement part would arrive within 10 days. However, more than five months later, the seatbelt remains unrepaired. My wife and I have called the dealership multiple times—she called five times and I called once. Each time we were promised a follow-up call when the part arrived, but none was ever made. On June 9, the dealership told us a new part order had been placed 2–3 weeks earlier from a new supplier, and that the sales associate Armando (“Mondo”) would follow up. No update was provided to me directly. On July 9, we were told the part was ordered again and messages were left with Mondo to contact us, but as of today, no one has reached out. Throughout this process, I have felt dismissed and the safety of the non-functional seatbelt— which hangs limp and offers no protection—has not been prioritized. I never received an official recall notice from Jeep, and I am left with a vehicle unsafe to drive with no clear timeline for repair. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in addressing this ongoing safety concern, as the dealership has failed to resolve the recall in a timely manner and the delay poses a significant risk. Without incident or warning, front passenger seatbelt will not retract, pull out or lock when jerked. Inspected 1/13/25 by Capital CDJR, Garner,NC 919-582-0202, found to require replacement per Mopar Warranty Bulletin#D-21-04 dated 3-24-2021. Service Advisor and Parts stated that seatbelt is on NATIONAL BACKORDER, can't be ordered and no ETA can be provided, although my name was added to "the list." Please note that this Warranty Bulletin was published FOUR YEARS AGO, yet parts remain unavailable. Online research indicates this safety failure was investigated by NHTSA and caused Mopar to extend seatbelt warranty coverage. Without replacement parts sourcing, without ability to order, without an ETA, the situation still exists without resolution. When will this become a priority? Thank you.
The seat belt on the driver’s side of my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo has a cracked plastic guide, which has caused the seat belt to stop retracting properly. This malfunction compromises the functionality of the seat belt, making it unsafe for use and posing a serious risk in the event of an accident. I am currently pregnant and rely on this vehicle for daily transportation, so this issue puts both my safety and the safety of my unborn child at risk. I have contacted the dealership and confirmed there are no active recalls for my vehicle. However, this appears to be a manufacturing defect, as other vehicles of the same year and model have reportedly experienced similar issues. The problem has persisted, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This problem I noticed recently, and don't recall the exact date.
The seat belt does not retract as it should. I have already had it replaced once and I have a second that is failing now. We have not been in an accident to see if it is a problem with restraining you as a driver, but it is a point of concern. The dealer replaced the first one, right after we purchased the vehicle, and it is exhibiting similar symptoms now of not retracting after unbuckled. You can manually align it to get it to feed back, but this doesn't seem to be the correct way to handle this.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while attempting to buckle the driver’s side seat belt, the seat belt was not retracting and was loose. The contact stated that the passenger’s side front seat belt was also loose. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
The driver side seatbelt does not retract. It has to be physically pushed back into the device so extra seatbelt is not hanging out. If one were to stop, the locking mechanism would have seatbelt slack in it so it wouldn’t restrain the driver immediately.
Driver's seatbelt is loose and won't retract. I tried to wash it, but it still hangs down to where it will get caught in the door when closing. This is a major safety issue in that my seatbelt is not snug against my body and would not protect me in an accident. I have seen numerous other complaints online about this same issue. Jeep is saying I will have to pay to have it diagnosed and repaired since it's out of warranty. Seat belts are required by law, but mine doesn't work!
There is an extended recall regarding the driver and passenger seatbelts in 2014-2015 Dodge Durangos and 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees, number D-21-04. My driver seatbelt retracts very slowly and the passenger seatbelt does not retract at all without manual manipulation. Because of this safety issue I brought my Jeep Grand Cherokee into a dealership in January 2023. At the time I was told parts (X90) were not available yet. I have since called monthly because my car at this point is unsafe to drive with passengers without a repair. Today (June 2023) I was told that there is an indefinite backorder and there is no estimated remedy for the part. The service technician from the dealership indicated that the part is likely not being manufactured anymore. He indicated that my only option was to either drive an unsafe vehicle, stop driving it, or sell it. I was informed that Chrysler would likely not be manufacturing a fix for another 6 months to one year.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the front driver’s and passenger’s side seat belt failed to retract as designed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the VIN was included in an unknown manufacturer recall and that the seat belt retractor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

Driver side seatbelt won’t retract. I’ve cleaned the seatbelt thoroughly and still won’t retract. Vehicle has only 77k miles.
What component: The piece of plastic trim that helps guide the seatbelt into the wall of the car has cracked and is preventing the seatbelt from retracting. Safety Risk: This prevents the seatbelt from retracting while driving the car (if it becomes loose it stays loose and therefore doesn't restrain the driver.) Inspection: The dealer said this is not covered under warranty or recall. (I called and described the problem to them.) This just started suddenly with no warning. My car has about 110,000 miles and this happened recently.
The Seat Belt would not retract, and it also would not tighten around the chest area of passengers. The belt would just lay on your lap. It was a safety hazard because if there would have been into a accident, it would not have prevented the passenger from going through the windshield.
The front seat belts will not retract. Part seems to be broken. Jeep says not a safety issue and it will be a month till they can fix it. I asked how am I supposed to drive with a seat belt that doesn’t work/ response was- I don’t know. The vehicle has 103105 miles.
There is a known issue with the seat belt frame latching unit part #1vl07dx9ag for the driver and the front passenger seats. This issue prompted Jeep to provide an extended warranty to fix faulty units. The bigger problem here is, the parts are back ordered for weeks and months. As this is a seat belt operational issue, and a major safety defect, this should be a recall and not a warranty item. I have been waiting since July 20 for the part to be installed. My front seat belts, both sides, do not tighten or retract and I risk serious injury in the event of a collision. Jeep must be held responsible to provide the parts to all dealerships as a backstock item, given that this is (in the words of my Jeep Service Center) not a matter of if but when the part fails. NHTSA should convert the warranty status to recall, similar to the recent recalls on other vehicles having seat belt issues.
Seat belts don’t retract because of broken plastic piece in the retractable seat belt system. I researched and found there was no recall but rather a extension of the warranty to fix the defect. I made an appointment on June 13, 2022 at a San Diego Jeep dealer and they confirmed the seat belts were malfunctioning and said they didn’t have the parts but they would arrive by July 6. I called July 6th and they said they didn’t have parts until July 25th. I called still no parts, told me August 20th, still no parts. Now told me to call September 26th 2022 to see if parts will arrive. This is dangerous. I’ve told them numerous times. My seat belt is Hanging loose while I drive. If I get in an accident I’m afraid it’ll do more harm than good. Is there something you can do to help me? Thank you
Seat Belt will not retract and lock in sudden stops or in crash.
Both driver and passenger seat belts have issues with retracting.
With less than 16,000 miles, the driver side seat belt just stopped recoiling. Wife stated one day when she got back from running errands, she unbuckled the seat belt after driving and heard a click noise and the seat belt did not retract. Ever since then the seat does not retrack and whenever someone drives the car, they need to ensure the seat belt is placed within the car so it does not get caught in the door being closed. This will only work for so long until it gets caught in the door before the belt gets frayed and is degraded.
Seatbelt retractor faulty Could not secure seatbelt around driver side of seat which IF an accident occurred, no restraint to hold in passenger. Yes Vehicle was inspected by the dealership and replaced for $527.50. There was no warning or problems prior to failure of the seatbelt retractor.
Jeep customers were not alerted to the seat belt plastic D ring potentially having visible stress/fatigue cracks and breaking overtime. When broken, the D ring prevents the seat belt from functioning correctly by pinching the seat belt and causing it not retract. Reference TSB 23-013-21. This is a preventable issue, but Jeep customers need to know to have their car visually inspected. This was reported already to the NHTSA but closed due to Jeep offering a warranty extension. This solution requires the seat belt to actually break so the customer can be allerted to the issue and have the seatbelt replaced. In my case, my driver seat belt no longer retracts and my passenger side has significant visible stress cracks in the D ring. I notified my Jeep dealer of the issue and the TSB. My first appointment was only for Jeep to confirm the problem, which they did and returned my car to me stating they don’t have the replacement parts which are on backorder with no expected arrival date. I also notified Jeep corporate of this issue in detail. It has been over a month and I must continue to drive my vehicle as is, as the replacement parts are not available. I recommend a recall for Jeep owners to have their seatbelts visually inspected for cracks so the defective parts can be replaced before they actually break and cause a safety issue.
The passenger side seatbelt does not cinch tightly onto the passenger, potentially causing the passenger to shift forward several inches prior to the seatbelt securing the passenger (IF it secured the passenger) and putting that person in danger with the front airbags / front dash of car in an accident.
Cracked plastic pinched section of the seat belt at the D-rings and prevented the seat belts from retracting and locking in a sudden stop.
I went to the dealer and told them about my seat belt, they said I need a new retractor. So after doing my research on YouTube I see numerous people with this vehicle body style have the same problem, people suggested it wasn’t the retractor but the plastic peace that the belt is in between on the pillar of the car is for some reason squeezing it, so I used a knife to see if I move it up will it work? And yes it did the problem was that and possibly the retractor but not as I can tell. This issue is happening too much for it to be just a oops. It is a safety concern for me and my passengers god forbid an accident with anyone with this issue. It is unethical as well for the dealer to charge an outstanding $1,200.00 not everyone has the funds to fix something that is so priceless such as safety. I’m sending this letter on behalf of all the people that live with this issue.
[XXX] 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Sitting in the passenger side seat of the jeep stopped and went to remove the seat belt it would not retract. Attempted to pull it out a little further to get it to retract and it would not retract. Being a nurse I know how dangerous this is. I have contacted me dealer to get an apt to get it in as soon as possible to get it fixed. The passenger side seat belt will not retract this is a safety hazard. I see there have been several complaints on this model for this same safety hazard. Reporting as this is very dangerous. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The pillar loop of the seatbelt cracked on the driver's seat belt. The piece that guides the seatbelt in the pillar loop cracked, and as a result it now pinches the seatbelt and prevents the seatbelt from retracting. It is pinched so tightly that I can't even manually "retract" it by pushing the seatbelt back into the door/wall, and instead my seatbelt hangs loosely in the seat around me. Since the seatbelt hangs loosely around the seat and can't even be manually retracted, I may as well not have access to a seatbelt which is a very dangerous situation. If I were to crash, the seatbelt would be completely ineffective. No event occurred to cause the crack. There were no warning signs, lights, or indications that something was wrong until one day I got in the car and it would just no longer retract. The first appearance of the issue was around January 27, 2022. It was very cold the week it happened so I am unsure if the cold temperature had anything to do with the crack, however a seat belt should not break because of cold weather. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request, and to date the issue has not been confirmed by a dealer or service center since it is very obviously an issue. Additionally, it has not been inspected yet as the quoted prices for fixing it are extremely high even though it appears to be a malfunction of the specific piece of safety equipment, as exhibited by the abundance of identical complaints specifically for my make and model (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee).
The driver side seat belt is not retracting/faulty. It will not securely hold the driver if a collision occurs. This Jeep has blown fuel back out of the tank to saturate and shut down a gas station. The Attorney General in Vermont got involved in my case. The fuel system had to be replaced. Next the passenger side seat belt secured my passenger into the seat so tightly I had to pull the vehicle over. The seat belt would not release. The passenger side belt was replaced with a big fight over who was responsible for the bill. Now the driver side seat belt is faulty. I am disappointed after reading reviews of so many consumers having the same issue. What gives? are you going to wait to recall until someone dies in an accident?
Both front seat belts (driver and passenger) failed within a few days of each other in mid September, 2021. They do not retract and consequently, the pretensioner does not function. I have made enquires that reveal that it is a known problem, and that NHTSA have previously investigated (NHTSA Action Number: PE19011), but that the file has been closed after the 'preliminary evaluation' and the agreement by FCA US LLC to extend the warranty on the driver and passenger from seat belt assemblies. After having to wait several weeks for an appointment with the dealer, even after explaining the fault and that it was a safety issue, we had the seat belts inspected by a Jeep dealer on 09/30/21 who confirmed the failure. We had previously received a notice from FCA US LLC in relation to the potential issue and that they were extending the warranty to 15 years/unlimited miles. My concern is that the issue has still not been resolved. The parts have not been replaced and we are told that they are on back order with no firm date for the parts to be in and installed, rectifying this serious safety issue. It is coming up on 4 months. It is our primary family vehicle, and the only vehicle we own that can be driven on winter roads. Our other vehicles are 3 season vehicles. I have been in constant contact with the dealer and FCA LLC customer care. Their customer care is window dressing. They continue to give excuses, deflect, the dealer blames FCA LLC and FCA LLC blames the dealer for the defect and problem not being resolved. We have exhausted all friends and family in borrowing a replacement vehicle over the past few months. We are now being forced to drive a vehicle with no operating from seat belts, in contravention of all road safety principles and laws. In my enquires on the NHTSA website, the ODI Resume, date closed 05/03/2, states in one of the final paragraphs 'that and NHTSA will take further action if warranted by future circumstances'. I beleive
The front passenger side seatbelt would not tighten around occupant when pulled from the rest position. When we tried to get it to retract it wouldn't. There seems to be a number of these incidents reported for the same vehicle. This presents a serious safety issue and with only 45K miles on the vehicle this should justify an investigation.
On the drivers side, the plastic guide that guides the seat belt into the pillar and down to the retraction unit, is cracked and is pinching the seat belt, not allowing the seat belt to properly retract.
Driver side seatbelt won't retract. There seems to be a broken piece of plastic on the top piece.
The drivers side seat belt will no longer retract making it not useable. It appears that the D-ring is cracked preventing the seat belt from working properly, Appears that there are several other NHTSA incidents similar to this one and have been under investigation.
Passenger side front seat seat belt fail to retract once extended, resulting in excess seat belt material across the body, and thus possibility of a delayed or insufficient tensioner reaction in an event. After taking to a local service shop, the problem is with the upper plastic guide pinching the belt. This is a huge safety issue since there can be slack in the belt for the front passenger. Also, the upper plastic guide on the driver side front seat belt has a fracture.
Front passenger side seat belt won't retract. The seat belt can be pushed by hand back into the upper slot, but after pulling out the belt again, it won't retract again. Believe this is a problem with the upper plastic guide pinching the belt. I have not taken to a dealer since there are numerous identical reports for this vehicle type and I don't want to pay $600 to fix. This is a huge safety issue since there can be slack in the belt for the front passenger.
THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT IS NOT RETRACTING. WILL NOT RETRACT REGARDLESS OF STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. THE UPPER PORTION OF THE SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT OR HOLD IN PLACE TO PROTECT.
DRIVER SEAT BELT IS NOT RETRACTING AND IT APPEARS THE PLASTIC GUIDE IN THE A-PILLAR IS CREAKED. I AM CONCERNED THE INTEGRITY OF THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINT SYSTEM IS COMPROMISED DUE TO FAULTY PLASTIC TENSION GUIDE. I NOTICED THE CRACK AFTER EXITING THE JEEP AS THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RETRACT.
FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT IS LOCKED I SEE THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM I HAND ALONE. I READ SOMEONE SAID THEY HAVE A PENDING RECALL FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS, I THINK IT'SA BIG ISSUE SINCE SOME HAVE THE PROBLEM ON THE DRIVER SEAT.
THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER-SIDE SEATBELT PILLAR LOOP THAT WILL NOT ALLOW THE SEATBELT TO RETRACT. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL UNDER THE PENDING RECALL STATUS NHTSA #PE19011 (SINCE SEPTEMBER 2019).
THE SEAT BELT, ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE, WILL NOT RETRACT. THE PLASTIC ABOVE WHERE IT RETRACTS IS CRACKED AND PRESSING DOWN ON THE BELT. I DISCOVERED THIS WHEN GETTING IN TO MY CAR AND TRYING TO PUT ON THE SEAT BELT. I NOTICED THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT ALSO HAS A CRACK ABOVE IT. I REALIZED THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE ON GRAND CHEROKEES IN 2014S WHEN LOOKING AT ONLINE FORUMS FOR A SOLUTION.
NO PARTICULAR INCIDENT - VEHICLE SEAT BELT MECHANISM CRACKED. JEEP DEALER DOESN'T OFFER A WARRANTY, WHICH IS HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE. THE SEAT BELT DOES NOT RETRACT. SEAT BELT WILL NOT CATCH IF IN AN ACCIDENT, AND THE DRIVER WILL HIT THE STEERING WHEEL OR DASHBOARD. INSURANCE COMPANIES WILL ALSO NOT COVER 500$ REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR.

SEAT BELT STOPPED RETRACTING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED COMPLETELY. ORIGINAL OWNER OF VEHICLE WITH NO PREVIOUS DAMAGES TO SEATBELT
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT BOTH FRONT SEATBELTS WILL NOT RETRACT. WHEN YOU ARE SEATED, THERE IS ABOUT 1 FOOT OF BELT LEFT LEFT DANGLING, YOU CANNOT PUSH IT BACK IN. JEEP DEALER QUOTED $1000+ TO REPLACE THEM.

DRIVERS SEATBELT DOES NOT RETRACT WHEN OPENING DOOR OR LOCK WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE REPLACED THE PASSENGER SEATBELT AT A COST OF $585.00 IN APRIL, 2020. THIS IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM WITH THE 2014 MODEL.
FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT STOPPED RETRACTING. MADE IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE PLASTIC PIECE THAT COVERS THE ATTACHMENT IS BROKEN IN SEVERAL PLACES AND PINCHES THE SEAT BELT. THE ENTIRE UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS APPEARS TO BE KNOWN ISSUE WITH JEEP AND SHOULD PART OF A SAFETY RECALL. I WAS ON A PARKING LOT WHEN THE SEAT BELT STOPPED RETRACTING. THE COST TO FIX THE PROBLEM WAS $783.42.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT SUDDENTLY WOULD NOT RETRACT, EVEN WHILE FEEDING IT BY HAND BACK INTO THE SPOOL. WE FOUND THAT THE SLOT IN THE B PILLAR, THROUGH WHICH THE SEAT BELT RETRACTS, IS CRACKED. THIS HAS CAUSED THE SEAT BELT TO BE PINCHED. IF A SMALL SCREWDRIVER IS USED TO PRY OPEN THE SLOT, THE SEAT BELT RETRACTS. A SEAT BELT NOT RETRACTING IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A WARRANTEE REPAIR OR SUBJECT TO A RECALL, NEITHER OF WHICH SEEM TO APPLY.
PASSENGER SEATBELT WON'T RETRACT.
THE UPPER SEAT BELT PLASTIC GUIDE CRACKS DURING ROUTINE USE, PREVENTING PROPER RETRACTION OF SEAT BELT. THE SEATBELT REMAINS SLACK ON AN OCCUPANT RESULTING IN IMPROPER FIT.
DRIVER SIDE SEATBELT IS NOT ROLLING UP... THE SEAT BELT IS NOT ADJUSTING TO ORIGINAL POSITION. THIS CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE IN CASE THERE IS AN ACCIDENT AND THE SEAT BELT FAIL TO DO ITS JOB.
MIDDLE REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT DOES NOT RETRACT WHEN THE BELT IS RELEASED. YOU HAVE TO FEED THE BELT ALL THE WAY BACK INTO THE SEAT AND THEN IT IS STILL SLIGHTLY LOOSE. THIS IS NOT EVEN COVERED BY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY EITHER. SINCE THE BELT WILL NOT RETRACT AND TIGHTEN CORRECTLY I'M AFRAID TO USE IT UNTIL I GET IT REPAIRED. I HAVE A CAR SEAT IN THE BACK BUT WE CAN NOT USE THE MIDDLE SEAT BELT FOR OUR BABY UNTIL THIS IS FIXED.
SAME AS MANY MANY OTHERS. FRONT SEAT BELTS ARE FAILING TO RETRACT DUE TO A CRACKED GUIDE FROM THE SHOULDER TO BODY OF CAR BEND. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WITH A FACTORY WARRANTY REMAINING ON MY 2014 JGC LIMITED AND WAS TOLD ITS NOT COVERED..I PUT 6K MILES ON IT SINCE MY VEHICLE PURCHASE. CURRENT ODO 64,441. MY DAUGHTER CANT SAFELY DRIVE MY VEHICLE SINCE THE SEATBELT IS CURRENTLY A DRESS WITH ALL THE EXTRA SLACK.
SEAT BELT STOPPED RETRACTING. PLASTIC GUIDE LOOKS CRACKED.

THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
MY DRIVER'S SIDE SEATBELT WILL NOT COME OUT IN ORDER FOR ME TO STRAP IT ON. IT'S LOCKED UP AND WILL ONLY PULL A SHORT WAY OUT OF THE MECHANISM. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED AT WORK AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO PUT THE SEATBELT ON. I TRIED DIFFERENT THINGS TO SEE IF IT WOULD WORK- STARTED THE CAR AND PUT IN GEAR; TURNED CAR OFF AND GOT OUT AND BACK IN; EVEN TRIED PULLING ON IT WITHOUT SITTING IN THE SEAT - NOTHING WORKED
THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT IS NOT RETRACTING AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. RESEARCH OF THE NHTSA'S DATABASE OF COMPLAINTS SHOW THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON AND IS UNDER CURRENT INVESTIGATION.*DT*JB
DRIVER & FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELTS WILL NOT RECOIL & DO NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE RESTRAINT FOR OCCUPANTS.
DRIVERS SIDE SEATBELT SUDDENLY NO LONGER RETRACTING. APPEARS TO BE DUE TO A CRACKED BELT GUIDE. JEEP DEALERSHIP QUOTED $900+ FOR REPAIR AND ANOTHER LOCAL SHOP QUOTED $600+ - REPAIR REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE BELT ASSEMBLY. I'VE SCOURED THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND A MASS OF OTHERS WHO HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE DATING BACK SEVERAL YEARS. THIS SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE AN OPEN RECALL - I CANNOT LEGALLY NOR SAFELY OPERATE MY VEHICLE AND THE REPLACEMENT COST IS ASTRONOMICAL BEING OUT OF WARRANTY. HELP!
DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT. DOES NOT FUNCTION AS SHOULD TO KEEP DRIVER SAFE IN EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. JEEP HAS APPROX 50,000 MILES ON IT. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN ISSUE OCCURRED. DRIVER PARKED AND REMOVED SEAT BELT. SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RETRACT ANY LONGER. *TR
THE SEAT BELT DOES NOT RETRACT BACK INTO THE PLASTIC SEAT BELT GUIDE. THE PLASTIC GUIDE IS CRACKED FROM NORMAL USAGE OVER TIME. THE SEAT BELT WILL NOT LOCK UP TO HELP SAVE A PERSON'S LIFE IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT. WITH THE SEAT BELT THE WAY IT IS, IT ACTS MORE LIKE A LAP RESTRAINT ON A CHILDREN'S AMUSEMENT PARK RIDE. IT IS ALARMING THAT THIS HAS NOT BEEN FIXED BY JEEP BASED ON HOW SERIOUS OF A SAFETY ISSUE THIS IS AND HOW MANY PEOPLE I HAVE TALKED TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RETRACT AND WAS FRACTURED. THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT BELT WAS ALSO FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MIAMI LAKES AUTOMALL (16600 NW 57TH AVE, MIAMI LAKES, FL 33014 (305) 455-3540) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
MY FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT. *TR
SEAT BELT WONT RETRACT DRIVERS SIDE FRONT, SEEMS LIKE PLASTIC PIECE HAS CRACKED OR BROKEN AND PREVENTS THE RETRACTION FROM HAPPENING. *TR
THE RIGHT FRONT SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT PROPERLY. THE THICK PLASTIC GUIDE IN DOOR PILLAR IS CRACKED AND PINCHES AGAINST SEAT BELT. IT IS A SAFER ISSUE BECAUSE THERE IT CAUSE TOO MUCH SLACK AGAINST USER'S CHEST. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT RENDERING IT USELESS IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION. ONLY 23,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. *TR
LOCKING (FEMALE) PART OF REAR SEATBELT MECHANISM BROKE. THIS MAKES IT HARD TO RELEASE THE LOCKED SEATBELT FOR A PASSENGER IN THE BACK SEAT. THIS IS DANGEROUS IF THE PERSON NEEDED TO ESCAPE THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY. *TR
SEATBELT RETRACTORS IN BOTH FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS FAILED. THIS IS KNOWN TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE GRAND CHEROKEE. DEALER WANTS CUSTOMER TO PAY $800.00 PLUS DOLLARS TO REPAIR EACH. RIDICULOUS WHEN IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE.
DRIVERS SEATBELT AND MIDDLE BACK SEAT WONT RETRACT.
D RIGHT HEIGHT ADJUSTER FOR PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT BROKE AND WILL NOT ALL THE SEAT BELT TO RETRACT.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT JUST STOPPED RETRACTING ONE DAY. THERE WAS NO CRASH OR EVENT OF ANY KIND. I'VE VERIFIED ONLINE THAT THIS SPECIFIC COMPLAINT IS VERY COMMON AND ESSENTIALLY LEAVES THE DRIVER WITH NO SEAT BELT OR A VERY LOOSE SEAT BELT.
MY DRIVERS SEAT SEATBELT WILL NOT RETRACT
PASSENGER FRONT SEATBELT WILL NOT RETRACT. THEY DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME IT'S $500 TO FIX BECAUSE I'M AT 76,000 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THIS IS BEYOND DANGEROUS.
PASSENGER FRONT SEATBELT WILL NOT RETRACT AND DOES NOT ADJUST TO DIFFERENT SIZE PASSENGERS
SEAT BELT MECHANISM NO LONGER RETRACTS ON DRIVER SIDE. AS A RESULT, THE SEAT BELT WILL PROVIDE NO SAFETY BENEFIT IN A CRASH.
DRIVER SEAT BELT WON'T RETRACT. UPPER SHOULDER HARNESS GUIDE HAS CRACKED AND IS PINCHING THE BELT KEEPING IT FROM RETRACTING. THIS IS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH 54,000 MILES. THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT AND SHOULD BE COVERED AS A SAFETY. THERE IS NOT REPLACEMENT PART YOU HAVE REPLACE THE WHOLE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY AT A HUGE COST.
SEAT BELT TENSIONER HAVE SEVERAL HAIRLINE CRACKS ON THEM (DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER). THE PASSENGER'S SIDE TENSIONER FINALLY BROKE AND PINCHED THE SEAT BELT AND RESTRICTED THE SEAT BELT FROM RETRACTING INTO THE RETRACTOR IN THE SIDE HOUSING. WE DID NOT KNOW THE SEAT BELT HAD A PROBLEM TILL ONE DAY MY WIFE GOT IN THE CAR AND WENT TO PUT HER SEAT BELT ON. SHE PUT THE BUCKLE IN AND THE SEAT BELT NEVER RETRACTED INTO THE WALL TO PROPERLY FIT HER ACROSS HER CHEST. A JEEP DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY ($329) PLUS $125 FOR LABOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT DID NOT RETRACT. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BURTNESS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 1421 W MAIN ST, WHITEWATER, WI 53190, (262) 473-3072) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
BOTH FRONT SEAT BELTS ARE BROKEN, THEY WILL NOT RETRACT
MANUFACTURES SEATBELT FAILURE IN MY CHRYSLER JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BOTH FRONT SEAT BELT HAVE BECAME NON-OPERATIONAL WHILE TRAVELING ON A HWY IN YELLOW STONE, WY. ON JUNE 24, 2019, BOTH FRONT SEAT BELT BECAME NON-OPERATIONAL. THEY NO LONGER RETRACT OR STOP WHEN TESTED. TWO YEARS AGO MY CURBSIDE REAR PASSENGER BELT FAIL TO RELEASE TRAPPING MY DAUGHTER IN HER SEAT. I WAS FORCED TO CUT HER FREE AND REPLACE THE ENTIRE MECHANISM. I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. MY JEEP IS CURRENTLY UNSAFE TO OPERATE UNTIL I BUY AND INSTALL TWO NEW FRONT SEATBELTS. THIS WILL COST THE AVERAGE AMERICAN OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPAIR. MANY WILL JUST DRIVE UNSAFE AUTOMOBILES DUE TO THE OUTRAGES COST.
DRIVER SEAT BELT STOPPED RETRACTING. HAD TO PAY OVER $500 FOR REPAIR. MOON ROOF STARTED LEAKING, AFTER TWO TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP, HAD TO PAY $750 TO HAVE IT REPLACED.*DT*JB
ON OUR 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THE PLASTIC SEAT BELT GUIDE, ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS CRACKED PINCHING DOWN ON THE SEAT BELT RENDERING IT NOT USABLE. THE SEAT BELT WILL EXPAND OUT, HOWEVER IT DOES NOT RETRACT IN DUE TO THE PRESSURE FROM THE BROKEN PIECE. THE SEAT BELT WILL NOT STOP THE PASSENGER IN A SUDDEN IMPACT AND HAS ENOUGH SLACK THAT YOU CAN EASILY MAKE CONTACT WITH THE DASH AND STEERING WHEEL. THIS MALFUNCTION OCCURRED WHILE STATIONARY.*DT COMSUMER STATED IT WAS NOT TAKEN ANYWHERE FOR DIAGNOSIS AS I HAVE BEEN A MECHANIC FOR OVER 30 YEARS. I DID NOT KEEP ANY RECORDS BUT I DID FIX THE PROBLEM BY TRIMMING THE PLASTIC ON THE UPPER SIDE OF THE SEATBELT OPENING TO ALLOW FREE MOVEMENT. THIS DID NOT IN ANY WAY COMPROMISE THE INTEGRITY OF THE SEATBELT OR THE ABILITY FOR IT TO PERFORM IT'S JOB AS THE TOP OF THE PLASTIC TRIM SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN TOUCHING IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE PLASTIC GUARD IS THERE TO KEEP DIRT, DUST AND LITTLE FINGERS FROM GETTING INSIDE THE BELT ASSEMBLY AND PERFORMS NO OTHER FUNCTION. BY REMOVING 1/8" FROM THE TOP OF THE OPENING, THE SEATBELT IS NOW FREE TO MOVE BACK INTO THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR AND STILL PROVIDE PROTECTION FROM ANYTHING ENTERING INTO THE SEATBELT AREA BEHIND THE PLASTIC TRIM. SEAT BELT DOES NOT WORK BECAUSE OF POOR DESIGN.*JB
SAFETY ISSUE AS THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT. *DT
THE FRONT PASSENGER SEATBELT ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED TO NOT RETRACT. IT CAME TO A POINT WHERE THE PASSENGER WOULD STRAP IN THE BELT AND THEY WOULD HAVE ENOUGH ROOM ON THEIR LAP FOR AN ADDITIONAL 2 PEOPLE IN ORDER FOR BELT TO FEEL SECURE. WHEN I FINALLY GOT IT TO RETRACT BACK IN, I COULDN'T GET IT OUT AGAIN. IN ORDER FOR A PASSENGER TO SIT COMFORTABLY WHILE WEARING THE BELT, THEY WOULD HAVE TO RECLINE THE SEAT ALL THE WAY BACK. I REACHED OUT TO 2 DIFFERENT JEEP DEALERS IN MY AREA AND RECEIVED A QUOTE FOR ABOUT $540.00 BEFORE TAXES. I WAS ALSO TOLD IF MY VEHICLE WAS UNDER 60,000 MILES, I COULD HAVE GOTTEN THE WORK DONE FOR FREE. MY LUCK RIGHT?! IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT I HAVE TO PAY ABOUT $600 FOR SOMETHING THAT IS AN APPARENT ISSUE FOR A LOT OF OTHER JEEP GC OWNERS. THERE SHOULD BE AN OPEN AND ACTIVE RECALL FOR THIS AS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE! TO MAKE MATTER WORSE, MY DRIVER SEATBELT FEELS LIKE IT IS ALSO ON ITS WAY OUT BECAUSE IT IS SLOWING RETRACTING AFTER I TAKE IT OFF. I LOVE MY JEEP, HOWEVER, THE COMPANY NEEDS TO GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER AND REALIZE THAT THIS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT CAN AND WILL RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH DUE TO A FAULTY SEATBELT RETRACTOR THAT SHOULD BE BROKEN AFTER 5 YEARS!!!!!
DRIVER SIDE FRONT SEAT BELT NO LONGER RETRACTS BACK IN CAUSING THE SHOULDER BELT TO LAY IN PILE ON MY LAP. DEALER SAID WHOLE ASSEMBLY INCLUDING SOME AIR BAG SENSOR(S) NEED TO BE REPLACED. PARTS ARE $400 ALONE. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 70,000 MILES ON IT.
PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT TENSIONER/RETRACTION MECHANISM BROKE, DRIVERS SIDE IS ON ITS WAY OUT. CAR HAS 40K MILES ON IT. 700 PER SIDE TO FIX OUT OF WARRANTY. SHOULD BE RECALLED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. WILL NEVER BUY FROM FCA AGAIN UNLESS THIS IS RECALLED/REMEDIED.
ON OUR 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THE PLASTIC SEAT BELT GUIDE, ON THE DRIVER SIDE HAS CRACKED PINCHING DOWN ON THE SEAT BELT RENDERING IT NOT USABLE. THE SEAT BELT WILL EXPAND OUT, HOWEVER IT DOES NOT RETRACT IN DUE TO THE PRESSURE FROM THE BROKEN PIECE. THE SEAT BELT WILL NOT STOP THE DRIVER IN A SUDDEN IMPACT AND HAS ENOUGH SLACK THAT YOU CAN EASILY MAKE CONTACT WITH THE DASH AND STEERING WHEEL. THIS MALFUNCTION OCCURRED WHILE STATIONARY, AND HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED BY FCA.
THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WILL NO LONGER RETRACT WHICH MEANS IT CANNOT PROTECT THE OCCUPANT IN A CRASH I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND TO CALL THE CHRYSLER HELP LINE. I DID, THE SUPERVISIOR ANTHONY STATED IT WAS A MECHANICAL PART AND OUT OF THE WARRANTY BY MILEAGE AND TIME. I ASKED IF THE AIRBAGS WERE ALSO OUT OF WARRANTY. THE MAN SAID THAT'S RIDICULOUS. I STATED WHAT REASON OTHER THAN A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT WOULD CAUSE THIS HE SAID HE COULDN'T SPECULATE. I SAID ME NEITHER SINCE THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT DOESN'T COME APART. WHICH, IN MY OPINION, WOULD PUT THE RESPONSIBILITY BACK ON THE MFG. TO RECAP - A SAFETY COMPONENT THAT IS LEGALLY REQUIRED TO BE USED AND HAS NO REASON FOR BEING INOPERABLE OTHER THAN MFG DEFECT WAS NOT GOING TO BE COVERED. AND THEY DID RECALL WORK ON THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE WHILE I WAS THERE. HONDA AND OTHERS WARRANTY SAFETY COMPONENTS FOREVER.
SEAT BELT FAILS TO RETRACT RENDERING IT USELESS. THE PLASTIC COVER ON THE LOOP AT THE B PILLAR HAS CRACKED AND BINDS ON THE SEAT BELT STRAP. THE PART IS NOT REPLACEABLE WITHOUT REPLACING THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY. THIS HAS AFFECTED BOTH FRONT SEAT BELTS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS OR INCIDENTS WHICH HAVE STRESSED THE SEAT BELTS.
DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT NON-FUNCTIONAL AND WILL NOT RETRACT. FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT BELT IS STARTING TO SHOW SIMILAR ISSUES. DRIVER'S SIDE PLASTIC PIECE CRACKED/BROKEN WORSE THAN PASSENGER'S SIDE UP NEAR WHERE SEATBELT GOES INTO PILLAR. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN DRIVER'S SIDE SEATBELT FAILED.
WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION ELECTRONIC SHIFT LEVER. WE ASK THE TECHNICIAN TO CHECK THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT, AS IT HAD LOCKED. WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR THREE YEARS AND IT HAS JUST A LITTLE OVER 25,000 MILES. THE TECHNICIAN INDICATED THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR WAS WORKING AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY MECHANISM THAT I FEEL FAILED IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND THEREFORE MUST HAVE HAD A DEFECT. JEEP SELLS THE IDEA OF THE SAFETY RATING OF IT'S VEHICLE BUT FOR A SEAT BELT TO FAIL IN A THREE YEAR PERIOD OF LIMITED USE IS PLACING THE CONSUMER AT RISK.
MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DRIVER'S SIDE SEATBELT BROKE WHILE PUTTING IT ON PRIOR TO STARTING THE VEHICLE AND LEAVING MY RESIDENCE . THE SEATBELT IS BACK ORDERED NATIONWIDE AND THERE ARE NO "AFTER-MARKET" PARTS. THIS IS CURRENTLY NOT LISTED AS A RECALLED PART. I AM CURRENTLY WITHOUT A FUNCTIONAL SEATBELT. THE BROKEN PART IS THE PLASTIC PIECE THAT THE SEATBELT FEEDS THROUGH AT THE TOP AND IT WAS LOCATED INSIDE OF THE SEATBELT HOUSING.THE CRACK CAUSED THE PLASTIC PIECE TO REST ON THE SEATBELT TO WHERE IT WAS UNABLE TO RETRACT. THE SEATBELT HAS SINCE REPLACED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WOULD TAKE ANYWHERE FROM A WEEK TO SEVERAL MONTHS TO ARRIVE. *TT UPDATED 9/24/18*JB *DT*JB
FRONT SEAT BELT DOES NOT RETRACT DUE TO A CRACKED PLASTIC GUIDE LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE PILLER. THIS CAUSES FRAYING OF THE BELT AND PINCHES THE BELT SO IT WILL NOT RETRACT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS THE BELTS ARE USELESS.
FOR BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT SEATBELTS, THE UPPER HANGING (BELT) BRACKET WHICH ATTACHES TO THE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT FEATURE HAS CRACKED. THE DRIVER SIDE IS MORE SEVERE THAN THE PASSENGER SIDE, RENDERING IT USELESS AS IT PREVENTS THE BELT FROM PROPERLY TENSIONING/RETRACTING. THIS ISSUE WAS NOTICED LAST WEEK DURING A TRIP TO NORTHERN NEVADA AREA WHERE TEMPERATURES WERE AT A LOW OF BELOW ZERO DEGREES (F), AND AFTER DRIVING ON DIRT ROADS (DESCRIBED BY BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT AS ROADS ACCESSIBLE TO PASSENGER CARS).
I HAVE 60K MILES ON MY JEEP, AND NO DEALERSHIP WILL REPLACE THE PLASTIC TOP LOOP PART ON THE SEAT BELT. BOTH ARE CRACKED WHICH CAUSES MY SEAT BELT TO NOT RETRACT. THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MAINTENANCE BOTH AGREE THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. THEY STATED I'M NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND WON'T REPLACE IT. BOTH FRONT ONES WENT OUT. JEEP JUST LOST A CUSTOMER.
TAKATA RECALL: DRIVER SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT PROPERLY AS IT SHOULD, MUST BE GUIDED WITH HAND TO BRING IT BACK TO ORIGINAL STANDING POSITION. NOT COVERED BY DEALERSHIPS OR EXTENDED BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTIES.
CHRYSLER WILL NOT COVER A MALFUNCTION IN THEIR SEAT BELTS. THEY ARE DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR SEAT BELT NOT WORKING AND WILL NOT COVER THEIR PARTS UNDER ANY WARRANTIES LEAVING ME TO DRIVE AROUND WITH A NON-WORKING SEAT BELT. IF THE ISSUE WAS BECAUSE OF MY DOING I WOULD BE MORE WILLING TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED - THE PROBLEM IS THEIR PLASTICS BREAK WITHOUT NOTICE (PICTURE ATTACHED). I HAVE A BARELY 4 YEAR OLD CAR AND THE SEAT BELT IS ALREADY BROKEN AND HAVE GOTTEN NO HELP FROM ANY JEEP DEALERSHIP. I WAS UNDER THE ASSUMPTION IT WAS FEDERAL LAW TO MANDATE A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON SEAT BELTS SINCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
THE SEATBELT, AFTER BEING PULLED OUT FOR BUCKLING, WILL NOT RETRACT BACK INTO THE HOLDER.
THE PASSENGER SIDE SAFETY BELT BECAME JAMMED WHILE DRIVING. MY PASSENGER WAS TRYING TO RELEASE THE BELT BECAUSE IT BECAME PAINFUL. I HAD TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER AND ASSIST MY (ADULT) PASSENGER TO TRY TO GET THE SAFETY BELT RELEASED. ONCE WE WERE ABLE TO FREE THE BELT IT WOULD NOT RETRACT BACK OR LATCH PROPERLY. MY PASSENGER MOVED TO THE BACK SEAT TO USE THE SAFETY BELT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE. THIS JEEP HAS ALSO COMPLETELY SATURATED ME WITH GASOLINE AND SHUT DOWN A SERVICE STATION. THE GASOLINE SOAKED MY HAIR, FACE, AND BODY. AS A RESULT THROUGH THE STATE OF VERMONT I RECEIVED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM MOPAR TO RELIEVE ANY CONCERNS I MAY HAVE ABOUT SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE ONCE THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. CHRYSLER AND MOPAR HAVE CHARGED ME 100.00 DEDUCTIBLE TO REPAIR A FAULTY SAFETY BELT. IT SHOULD BE MANDATORY THAT CHRYSLER REPAIR THE SAFETY BELT AT NO CHARGE. NOT ONLY DID IT PUT MY PASSENGER IN JEOPARDY, HOW EFFECTIVE ARE THE BELTS IN MY VEHICLE IF ONE IS ALREADY BROKEN AFTER ONLY 3.5 YEARS. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO SHOW ME HOW MUCH THE REPAIR COST. I AM OPENING A CASE WITH THE BBB IN ADDITION TO FILING THIS SAFETY REPORT. MY PASSENGER'S SHOULDER AND NECK WERE SORE AS A RESULT OF THIS INCIDENT BUT NO SERIOUS MEDICAL SITUATION OCCURRED. IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A FATALITY IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR.
THE RECALL (P67/NHTSA14V-643) PASSENGER SEAT BELT. CHRYSLER HAS ADVISED FOR MONTHS THAT PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. HOWEVER THEY CONTINUE TO PRODUCE 2015 MODELS WITH AN APPARENT RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION....ONE IS RELUCTANT TO HAVE SOMEONE RIDE IN PASSENGER SEAT. SOME THREATENED PUNITIVE ACTION S/B TAKEN THE NHTSA TO EXPEDITE RESOLUTION, I.E. SUPPLY ME WITH COMPARABLE LOANER VEHICLE AT NO CHARGE UNTIL PART IS AVAILABLE. IN ANY CASE, YOU ARE THE EXPERTS HERE AND HOPEFULLY CAN GET SOME RESPONSE FROM CHRYSLER. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V643000 (SEAT BELTS) IN DECEMBER OF 2014. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT LATCH WOULD NOT LOCK AND SECURE THE PASSENGER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24.
