Electrical System →6 issues
Your key fob may fall out of the ignition switch when you drive over bumps or rough roads. Additionally, while parked, you might be able to remove the key before shifting into Park, which could allow the vehicle to roll unexpectedly and increase the risk of a crash. This issue affects the ignition module's ability to secure the key properly.

Your ignition key can be removed while the engine is running, whether you're stopped or driving. Your dashboard lights aren't working, and your turn signals don't function. When you use the radio and air conditioner together, all your interior and exterior lights turn off; when they're off, your interior lights won't work while driving, making it unclear if other drivers can see your turn signals. The issue likely involves a faulty ignition switch and electrical distribution problems that need professional diagnosis and repair.

Your car is shutting off unexpectedly while driving, and you're having trouble starting it. In one instance, it shut down completely while you were in traffic. Most recently, it won't start at all—the dashboard lights flicker erratically, and you're hearing strange noises from under the hood even though all the lights and radio come on normally. The issue likely involves a failing alternator, weak battery, or corroded electrical connections that need professional diagnosis and repair.

Your vehicle won't turn off when you remove the key from the ignition—it keeps running even after you've tried to shut it down. You're also seeing a check engine warning light on your dashboard. The manufacturer checked your vehicle's identification number and said it's not covered by any recall, so you'll need to get this diagnosed and repaired at a service center.

After starting your Jeep, it won't shift out of Park, and when you turn off the ignition, the engine keeps running even after removing the key—while all other electrical components shut down normally. You can temporarily free it from Park using the safety release button, but it gets stuck again when you put it back in Park. This suggests an issue with the ignition switch or related electrical module that's preventing proper shutdown and gear shifting. The fix will likely involve diagnosing and possibly replacing the ignition switch assembly or related electrical components.

Your vehicle will continue to run even after you remove the key from the ignition. This is caused by a problem with the ignition module. The ignition module controls when your engine should shut off, so this malfunction creates a safety concern where you cannot stop the engine using the key.

Engine →3 issues
Your 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a HEMI engine lost all engine power while driving on the freeway, forcing you to pull over safely. Your mechanic says the timing chain failed, which damaged the surrounding valves, and the entire engine needs replacement. You note that Chrysler has recalled Challengers with the same 5.7L HEMI engine for this issue, but not your Grand Cherokee, despite your car having only 98,000 miles and regular maintenance. The repair will likely involve a complete engine replacement with new timing chain components and valve work.

While driving downhill at 45 mph with eco mode on, your check engine light and traction control light came on, and you felt your car losing power and steering before it shut down completely. A Jeep dealership diagnosed a broken timing chain and found valve damage after replacement, which they said shouldn't happen under normal use. You discovered the same failure has occurred in 2010 Dodge Challengers and Chargers with the same 5.7L V8 Hemi engine and is subject to a recall for those vehicles, but Jeep told you there's no recall for your Grand Cherokee despite it being the identical issue.

Your engine suddenly stopped while driving on the interstate at 70 mph in heavy traffic, forcing you to pull over and nearly causing rear-end collisions. The dealer found that your timing chain had broken and severely damaged the engine at 95,760 miles, despite your vehicle being well-maintained with regular oil changes and service. The repair cost over $7,000, and you learned that Chrysler had issued recalls for the same engine problem in other 2010 models but not for your Grand Cherokee. The fix would involve replacing the timing chain and repairing any engine damage it caused.

Vehicle Speed Control →1 issue
Your 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee suddenly accelerated on its own while you were driving slowly through a parking lot at 8 MPH, causing the vehicle to travel about 100 feet before hitting two light poles and a tree. The airbags deployed during the crash, and you were injured with whiplash, hearing loss, and back and knee pain. This issue may require diagnostic testing of the throttle control system and engine computer to identify why the vehicle accelerated without driver input.

Unknown Or Other, service Brakes →1 issue
While driving, your brake pedal became completely unresponsive when you pressed it—even with full force, the brakes wouldn't engage. You nearly collided with the car ahead before using the emergency brake to stop, though it barely worked either. This indicates a severe brake system failure that needs immediate inspection and repair of the brake lines, fluid system, or master cylinder.

Electrical System,air Bags,service Brakes →1 issue
Your car's electrical control module (TIPM or front control module) is shutting off the engine while you're driving, which also disables your airbags and prevents the ABS braking system from working properly. The engine has stalled multiple times since you purchased the vehicle. This will likely require diagnosis and replacement of the faulty control module.

Electrical System,service Brakes →1 issue
Your brake pedal sinks all the way to the floor without stopping the car properly, both while driving and when parked. Additionally, when you turn the key in the ignition, the engine makes a choking sound and won't start on the first try — you need to try several times before the car finally starts while sitting still. The brake issue started after hitting a bump in the road. The repair may involve checking your brake system for leaks or internal damage, and diagnosing the electrical or starter system that's preventing reliable engine startup.

Air Bags →1 issue
Your airbag warning light turned on after you had an oil change performed on your vehicle. This is unusual and suggests something may have been disturbed during the service — possibly an electrical connection related to the airbag system. You should have the airbag system inspected by a mechanic to identify why the warning light is on.

Electrical System,air Bags →1 issue
Your airbag warning light turns on intermittently, even though you haven't been in a crash. This is a recurring issue you've experienced in previous vehicles from Chrysler as well. When the warning light activates, the airbag system may automatically deactivate as a safety precaution. A diagnostic scan of your airbag system's electrical connections and sensors will be needed to identify and fix the underlying cause.

Power Train,electrical System,engine →1 issue
Your car's window module (WIN module) is failing, which is causing your engine to stall while you're driving and preventing the car from starting afterward. This electrical component controls your power windows but also affects engine operation. Replacing or repairing the faulty window module should resolve both the stalling and starting issues.

Unknown Or Other, electronic Stability Control (esc) →1 issue
Your car is failing the smog test because the onboard diagnostic system shows 'OB11 Not Ready,' which means a emissions monitor hasn't completed its self-check cycle. Two mechanics have run full diagnostics but found no actual problems, yet your car still won't pass. You'll need to drive the car through its normal operating conditions to complete the monitor cycle, or have a mechanic investigate why the system won't complete initialization.

Power Train, unknown Or Other →1 issue
After a powertrain control module recall update in January 2020, your Jeep's oxygen sensors are showing as "not ready" on emissions tests, causing you to fail smog checks. You've replaced the upstream oxygen sensors, reset the system, and had diagnostics performed, but the issue persists even though mechanics can't find an actual problem. The dealer or manufacturer may need to investigate whether the recall update itself caused this diagnostic readiness issue.

Electrical System,exterior Lighting →1 issue
Your turn signal is shorting out while driving, some lights stay on even after you turn off the car, which is draining your battery. Additionally, the window control switch on the driver's door that operates the passenger window doesn't work. The issue likely involves faulty wiring or switches in your electrical system that need to be diagnosed and repaired.
