Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM:TRACTION BATTERY
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4Xe and 2022-2026 Grand Cherokee 4Xe vehicles. The high voltage battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving.
Risk: A vehicle fire can increase the risk of injury.
Fix: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures and not to charge their vehicles until the remedy is completed. Dealers will update the high voltage battery software, and replace the high voltage battery, as necessary, free of charge. Some owner notification letters were mailed beginning December 17, 2025. The remaining owner notification letters will be mailed at a later date. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 68C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning November 6, 2025. Vehicles that were previously recalled for the same issue under NHTSA Recalls 24V720 and 23V787 will need to have the new remedy performed.
Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 45)
Electrical System →3 issues
Your 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee's onboard charger failed in August 2025 and couldn't be permanently fixed. Multiple safety recalls were issued starting in October 2025—including one warning of potential vehicle fires—but no repairs were available for over 30 business days. A separate recall issued in November warned of potential engine propulsion issues. Because of these unresolved recalls, you were advised not to charge or park the vehicle near structures or other vehicles, making the car unsafe to use or store. Fixing this will require Jeep/Chrysler to release a software or hardware remedy for the charger and propulsion system recalls.

Your vehicle's battery completely drained twice while parked at the airport for extended periods—once in August and again in December. The dealer replaced the accessory battery after it failed testing, but the problem recurred. This suggests an ongoing electrical drain that's causing the battery to die when the car sits unused for more than a week or two.

Your 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee is subject to a recall (NHTSA Campaign 25V741000) for an electrical system issue, but the replacement parts needed to fix it aren't available yet. You've been waiting longer than you think is reasonable for the dealer to complete the repair. The dealer has confirmed parts are still not in stock. No failure has occurred in your vehicle yet.

Unknown Or Other →3 issues
Your Grand Cherokee has developed progressive alignment and transmission problems since the second week of ownership. The front-end alignment (specifically the caster angle) cannot be adjusted according to the manufacturer's design, and the transmission exhibits multiple issues including rough shifting, vibration, shuddering on the highway, unexpected requirement to shift into Park, a thump around 70 mph, groaning sounds, and howling on startup. Multiple dealership visits and independent ASE technicians have confirmed these issues exist, but dealers claim they cannot duplicate the problems or state it's operating as designed, and the manufacturer has not provided a resolution path or direct contact for customer support.

Your vehicle has shut down twice at intersections, then restarted when the light turned green. When you pressed the accelerator, the engine raced but the car wouldn't move forward. You had to shift into neutral and back to drive to get the vehicle moving again. This same issue happened with a loaner vehicle of the same year and model, suggesting a systemic problem with how the transmission engages after the vehicle powers back on.

You accidentally bumped a paddle shifter on your steering wheel while driving on the highway, which suddenly downshifted the transmission to a lower gear and caused the engine to race at high RPMs. You had to pull over to figure out how to get back to normal automatic Drive mode. Your Jeep dealer told you there's no way to disable the paddle shifters or prevent accidental engagement. A fix might involve adding a software update that requires intentional activation of the paddle shifters, or adding a protective cover to prevent accidental bumping.

Electrical System,vehicle Speed Control,engine →2 issues
Your 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee has experienced multiple serious issues including radio and Apple CarPlay malfunctions, the engine dying while parked and idling, and sudden loss of power while driving at 65 mph on a highway. A recall meant to address some of these problems cannot be completed because it requires temperatures above 50 degrees. You've also noticed ongoing acceleration issues. The dealership has not offered a satisfactory solution and only suggested trading to a more expensive vehicle.

Your engine shut off while you were driving, leaving you with no acceleration. You weren't given any warning before it happened. After shutting down, the message center displayed instructions for starting the vehicle as if it weren't already running. This occurred while the vehicle was in electric mode. The repair will likely involve diagnosing the engine control system, electrical connections, and hybrid mode switching logic to determine why the engine unexpectedly shut off.

Forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee's forward collision warning and automatic braking systems aren't working. When vehicles ahead of you slow down or stop, you're not getting any visual alerts, warning sounds, or automatic braking help — you have to brake manually yourself to avoid a collision. Testing at the dealership showed the system wouldn't activate at all on your vehicle, and another identical Jeep only activated when within 3 feet of an obstacle. The fix will likely involve diagnostic testing and reprogramming or replacement of the collision avoidance control module.

Electrical System,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your vehicle suddenly lunges forward when stopped, and the engine has shut off completely while driving on the highway. This is a serious drivability issue that could leave you stranded or create a dangerous situation on the road. The problem likely involves your fuel system or electrical components failing to maintain consistent engine power.

Power Train,vehicle Speed Control,engine →1 issue
Your transmission occasionally fails to respond when you shift gears (like from Drive to Reverse), and most dangerously, it sometimes loses all power while driving—the engine revs but the car won't move forward. This has happened at least four times, including twice while you were in high-speed traffic with no way to safely pull over. The only fix is to turn the car off and back on. After these incidents, the transmission may shift roughly. Your dealer has been unable to reproduce the problem or find error codes, despite two service visits.

Structure,unknown Or Other →1 issue
While driving at about 55 mph, your sunroof suddenly exploded with a loud sound, sending glass into your face, head, neck, and hands. The sudden shock caused you to swerve into the left lane, and you suffered minor cuts from glass shards. The sunroof glass panel will likely need to be completely replaced and the sunroof assembly may need inspection or repair.

Engine →1 issue
Your 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV is under a safety recall for engine fires caused by sand contamination in the 2.0L engine, which could lead to catastrophic engine failure and vehicle fire. When you took your vehicle in for service, the dealership couldn't complete the recall because replacement parts aren't available, and Jeep Customer Care told you the car is safe to drive despite having no repair timeline. The repair will require replacement of engine components affected by sand contamination once parts become available.

Back Over Prevention →1 issue
Your rear camera display screen goes black, which affects your back-over prevention safety features. The dealership says the camera and safety system aren't impacted, but you've documented that they are. The dealership has refused to repair the vehicle, leaving you with a safety feature that isn't working properly. Fixing this will likely require replacing the display screen or rear camera module.

Lane Departure, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your car's lane departure warning and forward collision avoidance systems may not be working properly. These safety features are designed to alert you if you drift out of your lane or if a collision is imminent, so if they're not functioning, you won't get those warnings when you need them.

Electrical System, vehicle Speed Control, unknown Or Other →1 issue
After having recall work performed on your 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee, you're experiencing two major issues: the vehicle is charging very slowly (taking 10+ hours instead of the previous 2.5 hours on a Level 2 charger), and the driving performance has degraded significantly. When you release the accelerator, the vehicle behaves as if heavy braking is being applied, which feels unsafe. The dealer has scheduled a repair appointment to address these problems.

Seats →1 issue
Your driver's seat back is lifting up because bolts are missing from the seat assembly. You discovered this when your child pressed against the seat while in a car seat. The missing bolts should be replaced to secure the seat properly.

Fuel System, Gasoline →1 issue
Your car's accelerator pedal isn't responding normally when you press it—the engine fails to accelerate as expected. The dealer performed an over-the-air software reset to try to fix it, but the problem has returned multiple times even after repairs. Jeep has issued recalls related to electrical and engine systems, but replacement parts aren't yet available, so a full repair may require waiting for those parts to become available.

Fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee's fuel door doesn't lock when you lock the car doors, even though the salesman said it should and Stellantis confirmed all 2025 models should have this feature. This leaves your gas tank vulnerable to tampering, where someone could damage your engine by adding substances to the fuel. The fix would involve installing a locking fuel cap or gas door mechanism on your vehicle.

Electrical System, unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee was part of a recall, but you weren't informed about it when you rented the vehicle from Avis from January 4-12. Although Avis provided you with a replacement vehicle once the recall became known, you have not received a refund for the days you drove the recalled car. This is a billing and service issue with the rental company rather than a vehicle defect.
