2015 Jeep Cherokee Other Problems

There is an active cylinder 2 misfire recall on 2015 jeep Cherokee. Our vehicle has been in the shop for about 3 days now. And the cylinder 2 misfire is still happening.

I’m not sure what component failed as it is linked to many. My 4 wheel drive is out. The differential pump needs to be replaced.

Jeep has failed to correct the recall from May 2023 due to the powered lift gate module even though the recall states that a vehicle fire may occur. Since Feb 10 I have not been able lower the lift gate without manually pushing it down and it will not lock. Dealer has no answer and Chrysler says they have not fix yet.

The following NHTSA Recall Number23V-338 was issued on May 11, 2023 and has not yet been resolved. The manufacturer is stating that parts are not available. It is pertinent that the manufacturer be pressured to provide the final resolution to this issue immediately as the risk for fire is extremely high.

Received safety recall notice in June 2023. Signed up 6/30/2023 Ref # 85688012 to be notified of when defect for power liftgate module would be fixed. May lead to vehicle fire with the ignition on or off.

While we were driving to the store, the front sunroof popped and then exploded. Glass shards fell onto my husband and myself and the loud bang sounded like a gun.

I am not sure if it is my PTU system but my vehicle shuts off when I am at a stop or idling. It is very unsafe to drive and could cause collision. I took it to a local shop and the owner said the scanner read nothing!

Had a burning smell coming from my vehicle and took it in to have it looked at. The mechanic said there is a leak in the oil filter adapter. When asked if this was a common problem he said yes and had contacted the main jeep dealer in our area and they said the same as well.

I was driving on the freeway going 60 miles per hour when l heard a loud bang. My car shook violently causing me to swerve. I then heard the wind coming in from my moonroof .

Car was in my driveway parked for about 3 hours when my neighbor heard a loud explosion looked out and seen that my car was on fire she then called 911 and came an woke us up to get us out of the home.

While in motion, the vehicle shuts off without warning. A message on the dash says put the car in park to start. The car consumes large amounts of synthetic oil, which should last up to 6 months but only lasts between 700-1000 miles per quart.

The all weather mats on the jeep trailhawk have a large ridge along the perimeter of the mat. This ridge can create a squeeze point under the gas pedal where the heel of a shoe can be trapped causing the shoe to pull of the foot and interfering with the ability to apply the brakes. This situation occurred with me in stop and go traffic while I was wearing cowboy boots.

I have recently been noticing two potential issues with my vehicle. 1) on certain occasion the vehicle seems to shift into neutral (as the RPM's rev) and then the transmission catches up a few seconds later shifting into gear. Also, 2) on certain occasion the vehicle seems to have a delay in shifting while accelerating onto the highway.

Takata recall I have had my 2015 jeep cherokee (latitude) for 2yrs now. On saturday 3/11/17, it would not start and the transmission light was on. The gear shift wasn't working either.

Driving on the highway at approx. 70 MPH when jeep developed severe hesitation and jerking motion. Evasive action taken to avoid an accident to pull off to exit the highway.

On 2 occasions now I have accidentally left the engine running and in gear at a gas station to refuel when I thought I had turned the engine off. It seems if you do not make sure the car is in park, the engine will not turn off. While I appreciate the fact that the engine is very quite, it is very disturbing to me that I may cause an accident if this continues to happen.

Bought a 2015 jeep cheroke in march and have had transmission issue since day one. The transmission slams into gear when accelerating and downshifts hard and pushes the vehicle forward on deceleration. I have 5,000 miles on my "new" $35,000 vehicle and I'm on transmission number two.

I was turning at a busy intersection outside of dc when it appeared that my engine completely shut off and I was coasting. I pressed on the gas but the car went nowhere. After a few seconds, it kicked back on and sped up to 50mph.

UNKNOWN Over the past year, my vehicle has unexpectedly stalled on the highway while traveling at high speeds. This alarming situation has occurred multiple times, leaving me and my passengers in precarious circumstances. Luckily I have been able to avoid hitting other vehicles while moving to the roadside.

On 2 different occasions in the past three weeks, the vehicle has stalled while driving. The instrument panel flashed a Parking Brake Warning each time and then the warning went off. The instrument panel also flashed a transmission warning twice.

At 28,000 miles my jeep cherokee had the service shifter light come on periodically and it would just disappear when the car was restarted. No one was able to research the error because it would not remain on and there was no documentation in the manual on how to resolve. At 40,000 miles the error became more frequent and at 42000 miles it became constant.

On route 80 vehicle dwnshifted, power steering and brakes affected. Mileage 9604 july 2, 2019. Vehicle towed.

Key fobs don't work as they should. Remote start only works occasionally , indicates "key fob not detected" when I am trying to start the car although I am holding the fob in my hand, won't open the door when I touch the door handle or push "unlock", won't open the tail gate etc. Sometimes the fob will work but not often.

My vehicle has begun stalling, with no warning. While sitting at a stop sign or traffic light or in slow traffic. It has stalled once on a busy freeway during rush hour.

Jeep being towed per recreational 4 down instructions front wheels turn inward creating severe vibration of motor home tow vehicle. Jeep steering assist modified by dealer. Months later upon investigation for cause of tow bar hookup & release discovered broken jeep frame plus other damages.

We purchased this vehicle new from auto nation chrysler jeep & dodge in roseville, california on april 19, 2015, to tow four wheels down behind our motorhome. The dealer stated that this vehicle was ready to tow with a touch of a button. On two occasions we have experienced a severe front wheel wobble while towing the vehicle, luckily at slow speeds down the road.

Faulty engine sensors causes the car stall at anytime. Was driving when stopped at a red light my car stalled and the dashboard light up along with multiple error messages. It took 15 times for my car to restart.

When towing with four wheels down behind motorhome, on two different occasions the jeep will warble uncontrollably. This occurred on trips we made in june and september 2016. Understand fca has a remedy but according to dealer I have to pay for the wire harness as well as installation cost??

The 9 speed transmission on the jeep is horrible. My car jerks, slips and stalls when you start in first gear. Every time I stop and begin to accelerate the car jerks.

Tuesday while driving the vehicle making a left turn onto a busy 4 lane hwy the jeep attempted to stall with dinging noises like warning lights should come on nothing appeared, wednesday while driving after making a right turn the jeep just shut down immediately with the battery warning light on stating "to shift you must begin in park" on the dash - couldn't move the vehicle at all nor would it restart for over 15 minutes.

My check engine light came on at the 5,000 mile mark. Turner out I needed a new transmission. The dealership installed one for me and ever since I got it back it's not the same.

We towed the jeep behind our rv using a roadmaster tow bar. After having traveled 10 miles at appropriate highway speeds, we slowed down in a construction zone that required all traffic to continue in the far right lane. The new lane crossed over the edge of the highway pavement on to the recessed skirt of the shoulder, about a 2 inch drop.

While driving, the navigation system failed, leaving only the arrow pointing in my direction of travel. This continued for over three hours. When stopped for lunch, I returned to vehicle and when I restarted the navigation system returned to normal.

I have taken my 2015 jeep cherokee into the service department for a 3rd time to have them diagnose the hesitation in the transmission, jerking into gear, and the wobble experience when turning to the right. According to the dealership, they have a technician from chrysler coming to look at it. They are not allowed to touch it.

For several months I've received "Service 4WD" notifications in my car and I have noticed it has difficult getting up hills specifically if there is any snow/even rain. I brought it in for repair and was told it was the Transfer Case Assembly (PTU) which is a very common issue they've seen with these Jeeps. I told them to go ahead and order the part to fix it.

Transmission issue, vehicle bucks or jolts when accelerating appears there is a recall for this but my VIN shows I am not recalled but other 2015 Jeep Cherokees were affected. How can I get this fixed since it was a recall? Cooling goes in and out. This was a recall and it said it was repaired back in 2015 but since 2015 the year I bought the car, I have experienced cooling issues. I bought my car brand new.

On [XXX] I was leaving a Nebraska residence to return to Montana. During the trip I had to stop on the highway because the lift gate released and flew open at 55 mph. At that time I pulled over and the gate would not close. I tried several times to close it and so did other drivers who stopped to help me. At that time the resolution was to disconnect the battery and then reconnect. This helped. Upon returning home there was discussion with other drivers on my policy that stated they have had the same issue on prior dates in the last 6 months. The lift gate mechanism has been recalled and replaced on this vehicle on two occasions but the latching mechanism is the issue for this vehicle. To unlatch while in transit and not relatch make it a hazard. Conversations with local shops do not result in a resolution. Door latch mechanism doesn't work under 32 degrees. Have been both locked out of and in vehicle. Once the door opens it will not latch to close.

On approximately [XXX], I got a warning notification on my console that said "4 wheel drive needs to be serviced". We took our vehicle immediately into the Lithia Ram of Tri Cities Ram Dealership in Kennewick Washington and was told they will order the part.

I was notified of the recall on my Jeep :safety recall campaign 49A/23V-338 I took time off work to bring it due to the dealership never having business hours outside of 9-5 ( I work the same ). I was told that the part needed was not available and they had no projected time frame to fix it . Now fast forward to yesterday I get another card for the same thing .

Liftgate sometimes works and sometimes does not, having to "reset" defective liftgate by pulling fuse and disconnecting battery and let set overnight

It has multiple errors on the vehicle. What the dealership did find was a short circuit on the PTU (power transfer unit module). When the PTU short circuited it took out the DTCM (drivetrain control module).and it needs to replace .

I've read all of these complaints online about issues with the same situation that I'm having issues with. Everyone that owns a Jeep is having the same issue. With the service shifter light, it comes on often after 12000 miles.

Service at Jeep Cherokee dealership is telling me my PTU needs to be replaced in my 2015 Jeep Cherokee. There is a recall for the PTU on similar jeeps from 2014 to 2018, but mine is not in the recall. It seems mine should be, as a similar issue.

There has been multiple times where I have been driving my car and all of a sudden my car will ding and an alarm on my screen pops up that says 'service shifter' and all of lights on my gear shifter turn on. I have been driving everytime it has happened. I can no longer see my screen where it shows speed, gas, tire pressure, oil, or anything.

On at least 10 occasions from aug 2017 - feb 2020, while driving the 2015 jeep cherokee, the gear shift would light up and the display would indicate "service shifter." the warning light would disappear once the vehicle was turned off and could not be replicated on command for a mechanic to evaluate.

For the third time I have had the service shifter light come on the car only has 36,000 miles. Air conditioner stopped working. Upon further investigation, mechanic informed me the problem originated from a faulty evaporator system. Currently, the repair estimates is over $2000 due to replace the evaporator, compressor and freon.

Shifter service warning continuously pops up on the dash board while all lights blink red on the stick shifter. This happens daily, sometimes the car will not shift out of it's current gear while in motion which is a massive liability and danger to everyone on the road. MY CAR HAD 40,343 MILES AND WAS IN GREAT CONDITION. I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP. THEY SAID THE COMPUTER WASN'T READING ANYTHING CORRECTLY AND THEY HOPE THAT PUTTING A NEW BATTERY WILL HELP EVERYTHING GO BACK TO NORMAL. THEY CHANGED IT AND IT DIDN'T WORK. THEY SAID THE ECU AND TCM CONFIGURATION WAS MISMATCHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I DON'T THINK A CAR THAT ONLY HAS 40K MILES SHOULD HAVE ISSUES WITH ITS COMPUTER LIKE I DID. I SPENT $1720.61 TO FIX IT AND I'M NOT HAPPY WITH THIS SITUATION

I HAD MY 2015 CHEROKEE LATITUDE SERVICED ON12/8/17 AND ON 12/9/17 I HAD TO GO ABOUT 30 MILES. ON MY WAY BACK HOME AS I ACCELERATED TO GET UP TO SPEED MY JEEP ACTED LIKE IT WANTED TO STOP. Fca's uconnect app for iphone randomly launches on my iphone while inside the vehicle. When it launches, it takes away my ability to see navigation software (e.g. Waze, apple maps, on my cell phone.

Radio/ screen display goes black intermittently. Happens while driving or backing up. Cant use screen to see what's behind you.

My car hesitates when going from a slow speed to accelerating. By the time the engine "catches up", the car lunges forward and the rpms go all the way up. To passengers, it feels like I don't know how to gradually accelerate or shift.

2015 jeep cherokee sport - 12k miles - car accelerates after taking foot off of gas pedal. Contacted dealership - service manager and was told that this is a known "characteristic" of this vehicle. You mean a problem !!!

The car has a toxic internal smell. It clings to you for hours after leaving the car and has remained on clothing and baby toys left in the car. I bought the car new and as I have driven the car the smell had become worse and worse.

Driving on highway & dashboard starts flashing, had to pull over and message stated to service transmission. Car has less than 15 k miles, took it in dealer indicated it was fixed, same day on the way home from dealer on highway it happened again

This vehicle shakes bad at take off from a stop or making a left or right turn took it now 4 time dealer can't fix it don't under stand what's wrong!

Vehicle started displaying malfunction indicator light (mil) & had error codes u0402 & u1424. Dealer where I bought the vehicle performed recall r01 - flash of tcm & pcm (took about 3 hours). In june, I received notice of recall r05, which I had performed & also advised dealership of mil light ( same error codes u0402 &u1424).

Since I bought the car the transmission shifted very rough. The car surged forward when slowing down. When stopped and starting to move forward the car jumped forward on a consistent basis.

Vehicle has noticeable front end shimmy in low gear that only goes away after shifting to second gear. Dealer has no fix at this time.

Dealership that replaced my transmission on 05/26/2015 informed me that I need new front axles. My jeep is brand new. The new front axles won't be available un maybe september of 2015.

The vehicle was recalled but it's been six months and the part is still not available and we are unable to renew the registration due to the part not being available.

The recall on my vehicle has still not been remedied, nor have I received any information in regards to this recall outside of news coverage and my own checking.

The vehicle lift gate gets stuck, and will not open or close properly via the button. I have to manually close it.

3g sprint went away in the middle of January this year 2022..So did the uconnect 911 safety button, which means when a emergency happens there is NO way to get help now..jeep/uconnect has NO update NO fix to the problem..this is a safety issue in my opinion.. also the app does not work and you can not remote start, lock or unlock your car which also could be a safety issue in a bad situation..

Transmission will lag, it will jump when you step on accelerator.

Service gear shifter appears. Cannot see MPH when this happens. Mostly while on the freeway and vehicle has been on the road for more than a half hour.

About a week ago from today (10/25/2020) my car started having issues starting up. Everything blinks on my dash and acts like it doesn't want to start up. It says to service brakes and service transmission.

Stereo system: system remain on and can not turn it off, whether vehicle is running or stopped. I have removed keys from ignition, gotten out of car, shut doors and system remains on and it has stayed on anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes. I have had this problem since purchase of vehicle.

Shift gear problem while driving

Service shifter light comes on almost constantly and will not go off. You cannot clear it unless you park the car turn it off and back on and hope for the best.

My gas cap light has been on for 2 years. I apparently am the only one with this issue and have been told there is nothing that can be done as they need a flash to reset the motherboard. In the meantime to rule things out I had to have the vapor test done and replace the gas cap which of course solvee nothing.

Car shifts really hard and then, today when driving in the middle of the road with my toddler in the car my car shut off and said shift to park . Finally turned back on .

"service shifter" notification comes on the dashboard. A search of the web finds this is a common problem and that jeep doesn't know what the issue is. Seems like enough is happening to warrant a recall.

Well in drive the car turned into neutral just didn't go anywhere only had the car for about two thousand miles bought the car used 2015 one year ago from westbury jeep it's a jeep cherokee latitude 2015. Been in the shop 5 times already

Transmission bangs very hard when shifting around 40 miles per hour. If traveling up an incline it seems to worsen the force of the bang. Also has a stutter when accelerating from a stop in 1st gear thru 2nd gear.

The 911 button does not work when pressed. Get notice saying this.

As I was driving to work this morning, I heard a "ding" which directed my eyes to the screen on my dashboard. I had a message that said "car must be stopped to shift" "shift into park". Already confused, my car shifted into neutral by itself, the steering wheel locked up, and I lost total control of my car.

Periodicallly, car will not start at first. When it does, it says service transmission. Transmission jumps and will not shift into second.

My car keeps disengaging when I'm driving. It feels like it goes into neutral. Car read but doesn't feel like there is any connection to make it go.

While driving on street car just died and slowly came to stop.very dangerous.tried restarting would not start.unknown what is wrong with car that stops when driving and will not start again right away. Vehicle parked in the drive way after returning from work.shortly after discovered that tailgate glass shattered and falling off the vehicle. No evidence of glass being hit or cracked prior to the incident.

While following the owners manual for flat towing behind a motor home I crossed multiple railroad tracks at a grade crossing and the cherokee tow vehicle began a violent oscillation that shook the entire motor home and did not stop until the vehicles came to a complete stop.

Is the engine start/stop system dangerous? I think so. When I pull into parking spaces and begin to shut down the car (shift into park, go to push the engine stop button), the ess system activates.

Back window broke. No idea where it came from or how it started as I was sitting in my home and the car was parked outside. The car is not even a year old.

Side view mirrors' placement blocks visibility particularly while maneuvering in parking lots created several close calls. Mirror should be mounted higher to eliminate vision blockage while improving visibility.

The vehicle was stationary .the water from the air condition condensate line runs on a pan which in turn over flows over the side of the pan running on to the exhaust steaming up under the car into the engine compartment and the steel above the exhaust.
