NHTSA Campaign: 23V485000
Component: TIRES:VALVE
Gulf States Toyota, Inc. (GST) is recalling certain 2023 Toyota RAV4 vehicles equipped with 17" black alloy accessory wheels. During installation of the alloy wheels, the tire valve stem may have been improperly installed or damaged. In addition, the load carrying capacity label may state the incorrect weight. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Risk: A damaged or improperly installed valve stem may allow air to leak and/or the tires to be underinflated, increasing the risk of tire failure and a crash.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the wheel valve stems and replace the load carrying capacity modification labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 18, 2023. Owners may contact GST customer service at 1-800-444-1074. GST's number for this recall is 23R1.
NHTSA Campaign: 25V595000
Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Toyota Venza, 2023-2025 RAV4 Prime, RAV4, Highlander, GR Corolla, Crown, 2024-2025 Lexus TX, LS, Toyota Tacoma, Grand Highlander, and 2025 Lexus RX, Toyota Crown Signia, Camry, RAV 4 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and 4 Runner vehicles. Due to an error in the instrument panel software at vehicle startup, the instrument panel may fail to display vehicle speed, brake system, and tire pressure warning lights.
Risk: An instrument panel display that does not show critical information can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Fix: Dealers will update the instrument panel software for non-PHEV vehicles, free of charge. For PHEV vehicles, dealers will inspect the instrument panel assembly, and either replace it, or update the software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed December 5, 2025. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 25TB08 and 25TA08. Lexus' numbers for this recall are 25LB05 and 25LA05.

Component: BACK OVER PREVENTION:DISPLAY FUNCTION
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2026 Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru Solterra vehicles equipped with a Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system. Please see the recall report for a complete list of models. A software error may cause the rearview camera to freeze or display a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Risk: A rearview camera that fails to display an image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will update the parking assist software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed January 2, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 25TB13 and 25LB06. Subaru's number for this recall is WRE25.
Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 125)
Unknown Or Other →3 issues
Your 2023 RAV4 Hybrid may have water leaking into the cabin, where it's causing severe mold growth on the floors, interior panels, and steering components. You and your family may experience dizziness, nausea, headaches, and notice a strong mold smell when inside the vehicle. The dealer confirmed this is not normal wear and tear. Addressing this issue will likely require identifying and sealing the water leak source, removing contaminated materials, and treating or replacing affected interior components.

Your backup camera displays a black screen when you put the car in reverse. You've found that Toyota has issued a recall for this exact problem on RAV4s, but your vehicle's VIN isn't listed under that recall. The dealer confirmed your VIN is excluded from the recall despite experiencing the same issue. The repair will likely involve diagnosing the camera system and replacing or repairing the backup camera or its wiring.

Your rear hatch locks up and fails to open repeatedly, and has also failed to close properly, which damaged your rear taillight. Even after Toyota replaced the hatch struts and hinges twice since January, the problem continues to occur. This appears to be an electrical, mechanical, or computer-related issue that may require diagnosis and repair of the hatch locking mechanism or control system.

Electrical System →2 issues
Your instrument panel is not displaying critical safety information while you're driving at various speeds. You've been notified of a recall (Campaign 25V595000) for this electrical system issue, but the repair part isn't available yet from Toyota. The fix will likely involve replacing or reprogramming the instrument cluster control module once the part becomes available.

Your blind spot warning system on the passenger side mirror isn't working properly. The warning light flashes when it detects a vehicle, but you don't hear the beeping alert that should accompany it. The dealer checked the vehicle but couldn't find or fix the problem, and the issue has continued since you purchased the car. Fixing this will likely involve diagnosing the speaker or warning system wiring in the side mirror assembly.

Steering,power Train,service Brakes →1 issue
Your 2023 RAV4's transmission hesitates, slips, and lurches when accelerating from a stop or merging into traffic, with RPMs spiking and falling while the vehicle fails to accelerate—creating a collision risk. The engine fights your brakes during deceleration, requiring extreme force to stop the car, and the steering feels stiff and resistant during turns. Your car's pre-collision system has been repeatedly triggered by this lunging behavior, tightening your seatbelts. A diagnostic scan and transmission fluid inspection, along with a brake system check, may be needed to identify whether this is a software, hydraulic, or mechanical issue.

Steering,engine →1 issue
After driving on the highway in the rain and idling in a drive-thru, your car began rough idling and displayed a "Engine Stopped, Power Steering Low" message, then lost engine power, power steering, and stalled completely. When you tried restarting, the engine shut off after less than 3 seconds each time. The dealer found no diagnostic trouble codes despite checking the battery (which tested fine), leaving the exact cause unidentified—though you've found online reports of the same issue happening to other owners in rainy conditions after highway driving while using wipers. This issue requires the dealer to investigate the engine's stalling behavior and the power steering system's loss of pressure, possibly involving fuel delivery, electrical connections, or power steering pump diagnostics.

Air Bags →1 issue
Your car's front passenger airbag system failed to detect that someone was sitting in the passenger seat, and the airbag was automatically disabled. This means the airbag won't deploy if there's a crash with a passenger on that side. You found that this matches a known recall, but your vehicle's VIN wasn't included in it. The issue appeared at 57,500 miles and hasn't been diagnosed or repaired yet.

Power Train,air Bags,vehicle Speed Control →1 issue
Your wife experienced sudden, uncontrolled acceleration while driving at low speed in a residential area. The brakes did not stop the vehicle, and the display appeared blank with no warning signals or pre-collision warnings. The car crashed through a yard wall, and the airbags did not deploy despite significant damage to windows and glass. This occurred shortly after recall service (25TD01) was performed by a Toyota dealer, and no problems existed before the recall work.

Service Brakes, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
While you were braking to back into your garage, your 2023 Hybrid RAV4 accelerated on its own instead of slowing down, even though the brake lights showed on the dashboard. The car continued accelerating and hit the garage wall. This suggests a potential issue with the brake system or forward collision avoidance system not responding correctly to your brake input.

Electrical System,unknown Or Other,engine →1 issue
Your 2023 RAV4 has shut down multiple times while driving in the rain, displaying an "engine stopped steering power low" error message. Each time, the car takes 15-20+ minutes to restart, and happens most often when stopped in traffic or parking lots during rainy conditions. Toyota service has been unable to find or duplicate the problem, but disabling the start/stop button may help prevent future incidents.

Forward Collision Avoidance, lane Departure, back Over Prevention →1 issue
Your car is displaying repeated warning messages indicating that several safety features aren't working properly, including Lane Tracing Assist, Pre-Collision System, Road Sign Assist, and Headlight System. These warnings appear while you're driving or parking, and when they do, the safety features shut off unexpectedly. The issue may require diagnostic scanning of your vehicle's safety system computer and potential replacement of faulty sensors or modules.

Lane Departure, back Over Prevention, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your car is displaying multiple warning messages indicating malfunctions in the safety systems: the forward collision avoidance system, parking brake, and secondary collision prevention system. Additionally, the all-wheel drive system is also showing malfunction warnings. These warnings suggest that several electronic safety and drivetrain systems need diagnostic evaluation and repair.

Power Train,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your vehicle has a consistent problem with acceleration response. When you gradually press the accelerator while driving at a steady speed, the engine revs up but your car doesn't speed up right away — there's a noticeable delay in power delivery. When you release the accelerator, the engine may rev briefly before the drivetrain suddenly engages with a jerky motion. This creates a safety risk when merging, turning, or entering intersections because your car won't respond when you need to accelerate, and then may surge forward unexpectedly. You've reported this to multiple Toyota dealerships multiple times within the first 15 months, but technicians haven't been able to diagnose or fix it. The fix may involve transmission fluid service, torque converter inspection, or transmission control module reprogramming.

Unknown Or Other,visibility/wiper →1 issue
Your rear window unexpectedly shattered while you were sitting in the driver's seat and closed the door, with no impact or other incident causing it. This suggests a potential defect in the glass or its mounting. The repair will likely involve replacing the rear window assembly.

Steering,suspension →1 issue
During a routine oil change inspection in March 2026, your dealer found that both outer tie rod ends had excessive play and needed replacement, costing $735 including alignment. This is a steering component that connects your wheels to the steering system, and wear here can affect handling and safety. The repair isn't covered under your vehicle's warranty.

Electrical System,lane Departure,forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your car is showing warning messages about voltage problems affecting the power steering system and malfunctioning sensors related to lane departure and forward collision avoidance features. These warning messages appeared a few days apart on your 2.5-year-old vehicle with 23,500 miles. The fix will likely involve diagnosing the electrical system for voltage issues and inspecting or replacing the sensors for the safety systems.

Suspension →1 issue
Your car was swaying side to side while driving, making it difficult to stay in your lane. The dealer found that both the front and rear wheel alignment had failed and repaired it, but the swaying problem came back when you returned. When you took it back to the dealer a second time, they weren't able to diagnose or fix the issue. Fixing this will likely involve realigning your wheels and potentially inspecting suspension components for damage.

Electrical System, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your car's pre-collision warning system, road sign assist, headlight system, and lane tracing assist are all malfunctioning intermittently — turning on and off unpredictably while driving or idling. Your navigation screen also goes out at the same time. This has been happening on and off for 7 months. The underlying issue is likely an electrical fault affecting multiple systems, which will need diagnostic testing and potentially wiring or module repairs.
