SEAT BELTS
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks manufactured June 20, 2012, to January 26, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the side impact sensor calibrations may be overly sensitive, and as a result, the side air bag inflatable curtains and seat air bags may unexpectedly deploy and the seat belt pre-tensioners may activate.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the Occupant Restraint Control module calibration, free of charge. The recall began on September 8, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R23.

The contact's husband owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the passenger’s side front seat belt failed to latch. Additionally, the driver’s side seat belt also failed to latch as needed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be serviced for an unknown recall repair and the dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT A STAND STILL, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE FAILED TO LATCH SECURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOLLES MOTORS (84 WEST RD, ELLINGTON, CT 06029: (860) 875-2595) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT LATCH TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
HAD TO REPLACE DRIVERS SIDE SEATBELT IN 2016 AT 22567 MILES. NO COST AS UNDER WARRANTY. HAD TO REPLACE SAME SEATBELT 2019 AT 83860. WAS CHARGED $277.78 FOR THIS. IN COMPLAINING TO FCA THEY SAID SEATBELT SHOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY MAY REFUND MY CHARGES. BUT WHY DID A SEATBELT FAIL TWICE IN 5 YEARS? SEAT BELT WILL NOT ENGAGE IN THE RECEIVER BOTH TIMES
I HAD MY TRUCK AT THE DEALER FOR A RECALL, I NOTICED MY SEATBELT WASN'T LOCKING WHEN I PULLED ON THE SHOULDER STRAP. I ASKED THEM TO LOOK INTO THIS WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS THERE. THEY DID, SAID THE SEATBELT WAS DEFECTIVE, BUT CHRYSLER WAS NOT GOING TO COVER THIS. AFTER FURTHER REVIEW NONE OF MY SEATBELT SHOULDER STRAPS LOCK WHEN YOU PULL ON THEM FAST. I HAVE A CREW CAB TRUCK SO THAT IS 5 SEATBELTS WITH SHOULDER STRAPS. MY DEALERSHIP WAS ON THE PHONE WITH CHRYSLER FOR OVER AN HOUR TRYING TO GET THEM TO COVER THIS SAFETY DEFECT, THEY JUST KEPT SAYING NO, TRUCK IS OUT OF WARRANTY. AFTER READING ALL THESE COMPLAINTS, WILL MY AIRBAGS DEPLOY IF I'M IN AN ACCIDENT? I DON'T KNOW AND HOPE I DON'T HAVE TO FIND OUT THE HARD WAY. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME DRIVING OR STANDING STILL. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE SEATBELTS ARE DEFECTIVE. THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED ASAP, NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A SAFETY ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500 CARGO VAN (NA). THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON UNLATCHING THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT, THE BUCKLE FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO OURISMAN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF BOWIE (2406 CRAIN HWY, BOWIE, MD 20716 (855) 822-3228), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. A CHRYSLER FIELD INSPECTOR INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE A CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. UPON ATTEMPTING TO FASTEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT, THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO FASTEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ROCKY TOP CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (3315 WINFIELD DUNN PKWY, KODAK, TN 37764). THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED, BUT THE DEALER ADDED OIL TO THE SEAT BELT AND LATER AGREED TO REPLACE THE SEAT BELT AND BUCKLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
