ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Ram 1500 and 2014-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L diesel engines. The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.
Fix: FCA US will notify owners, and dealers will update the powertrain control module software to maintain vehicle propulsion by reading the camshaft position signal in the event that the crankshaft position signal is lost, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 13, 2021. Owners may contact FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-2002. FCA US's number for this recall is W58.

Owner Complaints (223)
Your truck's crankshaft position sensor and tone wheel failed while you were driving at 45 mph in heavy traffic, causing the engine to suddenly die and stop in the roadway. The dealership refused to perform the recall work (66A) even after you explained the symptoms, so you took it to a local mechanic who confirmed the diagnosis and replaced both the sensor and tone wheel with OEM parts. The repair involved replacing the crankshaft position sensor and tone wheel to restore engine operation.

TICKING NOISE FROM 3.6l PENTASTAR ENGINE. SAFTEY CONCERN COULD RUIN MY ENGINE CAUSING STALLS AND MISFIREING AND SEZEING.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 45 MPH and entering the freeway, the driver heard an abnormal popping sound, and it felt as if the vehicle had been rear-ended. The message "Throttle Alert" was displayed, and the vehicle failed to exceed 50 MPH while depressing the accelerator pedal. The driver was unable to pull over to the side of the road due to oncoming traffic. The driver was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the crankshaft position sensor tone wheel had fractured and was missing. The dealer determined that the part needed to be replaced. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 199,000.
We have a 2014 dodge ram 1500 SLT with a 5.7 hemi. I was driving down the road and stopped at a red light and the truck shut off and wouldn't start again we had to tow it home. We had a mechanic look at the vehicle and run the codes for the truck to find out what was wrong it was a misfire in cylinder 3. We called a few mechanic shops in town to get other opinions and they all said the same thing its more than likely the lifters or the camshaft is bad and its a very common problem with this model truck with the engine and it would cost over $5,000 to fix it. I spoke to the dodge dealership in our town they said the same thing its more than likely the lifters they see it all the time and its around $5,000 plus to fix. Why is this allowed to happen if so many people are having this specific issue with this specific truck and this specific problem with the engine and cost us thousands to fix. This is a major safety issue what if the engine stopped while I was driving this could cause an accident. If you look it up online as well everyone is saying the same thing their problem was with the lifters. We haven't been able to get it fixed because of the cost and the cost to tow it to a mechanic. We just have it sitting in our driveway and when I found out so many others have this same issue something needs to be done.
Flexplate (flywheel) had tone wheel dislodge and destroy crank position sensor. After a $2200 repair quote from dealer and while at the dealer the repair shop claims the engine is failed completely and new ecodiesel engine is needed. Crankshaft is suspected failure. Vehicle had total loss of power when crank tone wheel failed. Very dangerous to find a shoulder without power while towing travel trailer. Vehicle was purchased due to longevity expected from diesel engine.

this vehicle is equipped with 3.0 litre ecodiesel. truck has been in for numerous recalls--no problem. i have spoken to numerous buyers of these trucks with this engine and virtually everyone has replaced engine once or sometimes twice. i needed to replace toner wheel behind flywheel a couple weeks ago. this was a 1200.00 fix. stellantis's fix was to reprogram ecu so engine would not fail on highway but did not address the root cause of the problem. i find it appalling that stellantis has not been forced to extend the warranty on these engines since every customer paid extra for the longevity of diesel power. i am afraid to drive this truck since there are probably 2-3 rams every week on facebook marketplace locally with seized engines. this truck has 135000 miles and i am afraid the end is near.

This truck has many issues including emmissions problems thst cussed the truck to go into limp mode related to the boost sensors. This happened to me 3 times on the freeway when the truck flashes service electronic throttle control and power is reduced. On October 28th I was driving the truck on 55 mph roads. As I came to a 45 mph road, the engine started knocking. As I got into stop and go traffic the oil pressure started dropping to 0 and back to normal and the knock got louder. I had the truck towed into the dealership where they verbally quoted me over $24,000 for a new motor. The truck had just over 118,000 miles on it. They stated none of the repairs would be covered by the extended emissions warranty. The dealership then allowed me trade the truck in for less than the value ($16,000) causing extra thousands of dollars to be spent instead of repair. The dealership stated it would be an auction truck. On 11/6 I found that the truck had been listed on the dealerships website for $21,325. There is no mention of the repair or defects on the truck and that price is less than what I was quoted for a motor replacement.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, there was a chemical burning odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. Later, while driving the check engine warning light illuminated, and the "throttle body" message was displayed before the vehicle decelerated and stalled. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the crankshaft position sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine, Engine Cooling); but later experienced the failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 138,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
This vehicle lost power while driving and would not re-start. A message came on dash saying “service electronic throttle” and then the vehicle burst into flames. There is a recall for other models with the same engine but not this vehicle. It is a safety hazard that almost killed me.
I was driving back home after a long day of work, but I stopped at the gas station first. After putting gas.I started to pull out of the gas station, when the truck suddenly turned off. I turned it on again and a couple miles ahead it started to loss speed. I was going 65 suddenly went down to 40 20 started to stall had to exit the fwy before it stopped. Auto shop say it's the engine. Cost to repair $8,000.00.
Exhaust manifolds on 5.7 Litre Hemi’s, bolts that hold exhaust manifold to head break often resulting in exhaust manifold to warp, common issue on various years of 5.7 hemi, the exhaust gases leaking from around the manifold therefore can pass through the firewall, and cabin vent system causing the occupants inside cab to breath dangerous exhaust gases, also resulting in uncontrolled exhaust levels that are not being passed through exhaust system properly equaling higher exhaust emissions. Department of Transportation (DOT) put Tractor Trailers out of service for similar issues due to the health safety risks. This is a common issue with Dodge Hemi 5.7 litre engines of various years and should be a serious issue as breathing carbon monoxide and traces of carbon dioxide are very harmful. Please look into this, the dealership has repaired mine twice with the same faulty parts and now it is bad again and said vehicle only has 70,000 miles on it. Thank you. This is third time first one occurred in 2018 was covered under warranty and only had around 25,000 miles on it.
04/20/23 error code P0018 (Engine Warning Light) popped up. 06/07/23 error code P0018 (Engine Warning Light) popped up. Took for repair. 01/09/24 error code P0018 (engine Warning Light) popped up again. Took for repair. Took 52 days to repair. 02/26/24 error code P0018 (Engine Warning Light) popped up again. Took for repair. While traveling and then braking to stop, engine "shuddered" very hard, had to wait a couple seconds before engine was able to function properly to move vehicle from roadway. vehicle has been sent and or repaired by Carmax and Orange Coast Chrysler Dodge Dealer #491. Orange Coast Dodge has also replaced Crankshaft Sensors. Suggested to replace the PCM but changed their view and now they want to tear down engine.
rear Exhaust manifold bolts broken off in engine allowing gas into the cabin. Ram dealer wants $1900 to repair.

Leaky manifold with broken bolts replaced on passenger side by RAM dealer at my cost. Drivers side now needs replaced. RAM 1500 has 71,000 miles on it. The pickup has and had a ticking noise for at least a year before dealer discovered it during an oil change. I wasn’t aware it was due to the defective manifolds. This seems to be a common problem with RAMs. Concerned about breathing in noxious fumes.

On August 9 2023 I was driving my ram and it just completely shut down. Had towed to dealership. It’s now been 2 months and no answer on when I will be getting my truck fixed. Still making payments on this thing and it’s just sitting and cost me money from sitting. I keep getting the run around from ram
My 2014 ram 1500 has a ticking noise which in turn is creating an exhaust smell inside my vehicle which is making me dizzy / sleepy when I drive.
2014 Dodge RAM with the Hemi engine - noticing a ticking sound coming from the truck’s engine bay. Sound seems to lessen or stop after the engine has warmed up. This is from broken exhaust manifold bolts and a broken manifold. This is the third time this has happend with 150k miles. It creates dangerous exhaust leak in engine campartment!
problems with the heating coolant temperature regulation sometimes not heating at all or cooling too much. Check engine light came on and coded that toe coolant bypass valve was the issue. This has since been replaced 4 times over the last two years . The wiring was checked and working. The mechanic (not Dodge) stated that there was a software update needed that had to come from the manufacturer yet the Dodge dealer will not acknowledge this. Technical Service Bulletin [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
No start issue. I initially started my truck and it was running very rough and the check engine light came on so I shut it off, and then attempted to restart my truck and it turned over fine but would not start. This left me stranded out of town late in the day so I had it towed to my home. I have now learned that there are two outstanding recalls, one for the tone wheel (20V475) and for the high pressure fuel pump (22V406) either of which would cause a no start. I have contacted a local dealership and they informed me that they already have a truck in their shop for the same problems and it has been there for over six months. I then called the dealership were I purchased it on July 10, 2023 and they said they could not take care me because the parts are not available and suggested I take it to an independent repair shop.

On 07 May 2023, the engine temperature light came lite up on my 2014 Ram 1500 which has the Fiat Chrysler Pentastar 3.6L V6 engine. The engine had approximately 138,000 miles on it. The incident occurred while driving on a major interstate highway with three (3) other people in the vehicle. We were fortunate to have an exit close to where the incident occurred and we were able to get the truck off the highway. An independent service center was contacted and performed a diagnostic on the truck. They only code found at the time was for the engine temperature light. On 21 May 2023, the check engine light came on with no warning nor were there any previous or prior failures with the coolant system. A scan revealed a P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire was detected. On 25 May 2023, I replaced all six (6) spark plugs and coil packs. On 04 June 2023, the check engine light came on and a scan revealed a a P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire was detected. I made an appointment at Faulkner Ram Dodge dealership in Mechanicsburg, PA and was able to get the truck in until 07 July 2023. During the period 04 June 2023 through 06 July 2023, I did not drive the truck. On 07 July 2023, the dealership informed me the engine head gasket had blown, allowing coolant into cylinder 3 which was the cylinder that had shown up on the scan as the cylinder 3 misfire. The dealership indicated a new engine would be required to fix the problem. I ordered a rebuilt Fiat Chrysler Pentastar 3.6L V6 engine from Jasper Engines and it's currently being installed by one of their preferred engine installers. Upon doing research on the Fiat Chrysler Pentastar 3.6L V6 engine, the cylinder 3 misfire is a known issue and typically ends with a new engine being installed into the vehicle. There are no warnings or symptoms of the issue prior to failure. The dealership repair center indicates the issue was caused by a blown head gasket and a new engine is in order. This is exactly my same experience.
When driving vehicle with my with the check engine light appeared. We were on interstate and truck would not accelerate above 45-50 mph with intermittent surges. I called dealership and they took in my vehicle and replaced the Module Powertrain Control stating that would fix issue. After replacing MPC they check engine light was still not repaired. Dealership told me that fuel pump, fuel lines, intake manifold, and coolant leak needed to be repaired, I asked dealership if that would fix issue and they stated that they did not know and were working with Chrysler/Dodge/Ram to resolve. After a total of 7 weeks the repairs are still not completed. Prior to picking up vehicle I called FCA USA LLC and asked what was being done to get recalls repaired and received responses that repair solution has not been sent to dealerships and another stated parts were not available. I picked up truck and was told that I would need to add coolant every 3 days and not let the fuel level get low to keep fuel pump from failing. I spoke with FCA - Dodge ram and they stated they still do not have parts or a repair for the two recalls mention. In addition the coolant leak would not be repaired under warranty since I had the EGR and intake replaced as a recall due to a failure in 2021. They stated warranties do not apply to recall work. My concern is that they cannot fix the two outstanding year old recalls and have no direction for dealerships. How do I get these issues fixed?

Check engine light came on after replacing spark plugs and coil packs. Code reads cylinder 03 misfire. Engine has a ticking noise. Cam and lifters are what's causing the check engine light. If not replaced with the upgraded cam and lifters, engine will be no good. Would be very unsafe if my engine were to blow up while driving on the freeway or around town with my children. Dodge knows these cams and lifters are junk and should replace them with the upgraded ones
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon driving from a complete stop, the vehicle would not exceed 3 MPH as the safety mode engaged. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact parked the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a third dealer Beck Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM (256 Hwy 17 North, Palatka, FL 32177) where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). Additionally, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the parts to do the recall repair were not yet available. The contact stated that the vehicle was not drivable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I have a loud ticking noise doing startup which appears to be coming from the engine compartment. Upon further investigation, there are several owners that's having the same problem which they call the hemi tick. This should be investigated as a defect with the 5.7L engine and recalled. My vehicle was purchased new.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was a ticking noise coming from the engine compartment. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the camshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
Exhaust manifold bolts have broken causing a ticking sound upon cold start. This is the passenger side. Same thing happened on drivers side a few years ago. This is a well known problem with Ram Hemi engines and should be considered a manufacturer defect and repaired free of cost
This is the second time I've reported still no recall. These 5.7 are dangerous, with virtually no miles on them, the camshafts can have a lobe warn down, from oiling issued and the faulty MDS systems in these trucks. Mine stalled in the middle of a intersection with my wife and kids, these engines are unsafe and need to seriously be reevaluated. Also the timing chain guides prematurely wear out, causing excess play in the chain and can jump time and severely loose power or even stall out completely. Recall these engines, or I will make it public via YouTube, and facebook.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle was jerking and he noticed a sudden drop in the gas mileage. No warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that he heard an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who informed the contact that the abnormal ticking sound could be associated with the exhaust manifold failure. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as an engine cylinder misfire. The independent mechanic informed the contact that the engine would need to be dismantled in order to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.
in my case it's the hemi tick i took my truck to the dealer they said that i didn't have the tick now but the tech told me if I wanted to replace the lifter and cam it would cost me 6,000.00. The problem is that the oil pump doesn't pump oil into the lifter when idling it's a faulty oil pump and Chrysler isn't taken responsibility. I think it's models from 2013 to 2019 it should be a recall on those models for the oil pump and damage that it causes
While driving on the interstate, towing a 17' ultralight camping trailer, the vehicle made a very loud "BANG" noise from under the hood and immediately decelerated to a much lower speed (~20MPH). I was able to maintain control and guide the truck to the shoulder as traffic was light. Upon opening the hood the large turbo inter-cooler hose had separated the black rubber section from the steel coupling in the front-drivers side area of the engine. The hose clamps had apparently failed. Upon reconnecting the hose to the coupling with the clamps I attempted to restart the engine and proceed. The engine started, but had a check-engine indicator. As soon as I put the truck into gear and tried to accelerate the bang noise happened again and the hose disconnected. I called a tow truck and was towed to the nearest town with a Ram dealer (30+ miles). The dealer was able to diagnose and verify the issue and also locate and replace the entire turbo inter-cooler hose and reset the check-engine indicator resolving the "limp-mode" state. The Ram service center kept the old part but provided a detailed invoice representing the failure. If the interstate was busier (it was Sunday afternoon) the situation could have been very much worse as the deceleration was immediate and other cars could have collided with the slowing truck.
The 3.6-liter V6 24-valve VVT engine which is defective and is a safety hazard. First pinging then the truck stalls out in traffic. Dodge does not stand behind the Lifetime limited Powertrain warranty they sold me when I bought the truck because the dealer, I bought it from closed. Dodge knowing these engines are defective put us customers in life threating situations because of the faulty components in these engines. They put the cost on the customers to fix the faulty rockers and lifters, valves, camshafts. So, I paid $3,400.00 to have it fixed with them installing new defective parts that will fail again and put my life in danger when the truck just stalls out.
It has the 5.7 hemi, well it's always had a hemi tick, well one day I tried accelerating threw an intersection where it stumbled and died, another car almost hit but luckily he was able to stop. Come to find out the lifter has eating my cam lobe to the point where it's missing on one cylinder. I've did some research and it seems like a very common saftey problem, that seriously needs to be addressed, along with the exaughst manifold bolts that breaks, and can cause a fire do to the exaughst leak.
Fuel sensor failure at around 100,000 miles. A quick search reveals this is an extremely common issue and even more upsetting is seeing how many people experience recurrent failures within a year of replacing. This is a major safety issue if my vehicle randomly runs out of gas on a busy highway, which is far more likely considering the sensor failure will not allow the engine to enter ECO mode. My other issue is the hemi tick which could either be the exhaust bolts or the cam going out. Why haven't these issues been recalled?
I was driving down the highway and when I went to accelerate I heard a loud "clunk" like my transmission dropped. After the loud clunk an indicator came across my dashboard stating "service electronic throttle control". I pulled off to the side of the highway shut my vehicle off and tried to restart it just to make sure it wasn't a glitch. Upon starting the vehicle again, there was a very long delay considered to be a hard start. Since the vehicle started I decided to try to merge back onto the highway but as I was trying to accelerate the vehicles rpm would not go past 3000 rpms and would not accelerate past 40 mph. I shut the vehicle off and had it towed home. I took the vehicle to the dealership around the corner from my home and they scanned it. The code that popped up was P0336 (crankshaft position sensor). Upon further investigation the dealer diagnosed the problem to be the Tone Wheel/Reluctor ring breaking. FCA has an open recall for this exact issue W58/W68, but my vehicle is not included because it was built for the Canadian market. Although, my vehicle is a DS model with the sales code EXF.
2014 RAM ECO DIESEL. THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE PASSING A SEMI TRUCK. THIS FAILURE SENT METAL THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM TO INCLUDE; INJECTORS, FUEL LINES, FUEL RETURN LINES, FUEL RAIL, AND FUEL TANK. THE TRUCK IMMEDIATELY WENT INTO LIMP MODE, THEN A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AND FINALLY A LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT. NO OTHER WARNINGS OR SYMPTOMS APPEARED PRIOR TO FAILURE. I PULLED ON THE INTERSTATE IMMEDIATELY AS THE TRUCK HAD NO POWER. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED WITHIN 30 SECONDS OR SO. I WAS FORCED TO QUICKLY MOVE TO THE SHOULDER AND MOVE OUT OF THE TRUCKS WAY AS MY VEHICLE WAS EMITTING SIGNIFICANT WHITE SMOKE OUT OF THE EXHAUST. THE ISSUE IS CONFIRMED WITH A RAM DEALER IN BOZEMAN MT. AWAITING PARTS THAT ARE CURRENTLY ON BACK ORDER. BEEN 2 MONTHS ALREADY
Vehicle engine stopped suddenly on highway while traveling 50mph. Dash message was about service electronic throttle system. Vehicle coasted to a stop without power steering or brakes. Vehicle would not restart and was taken via Wrecker service to the dealership. Tone Ring failed along with crankshaft position sensor. There are two recalls (W58 and W68) dealing with this issue for other VIN numbers in the 2014 model year. Chrysler is not acknowledging that this issue also applies to my vehicle and isn't covering the tone ring under the recall or warranty. This should be investigated as a broader application of the W58 and W68 recall.
Good morning, I am a user and owner of a RAM 1500 year 2014 and with 90,000 km I have had the problem for the second time that the screws that hold the exhaust manifolds are cut, causing fire to come out of the engine compartment, which can cause the vehicle to catch fire, this It is a typical problem in these HEMI engines, so I was talking with other owners of RAM 1500, they should make a solution to this problem since several people including are thinking of selling the unit and looking for other brands. From now cordial greetings [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

VEHICLE HAS BEEN UNDER MULTIPLE RECALL REPAIRS. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR ANOTHER RECALL. WHEN THEY WERE DOING THEIR ROAD TEST, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. WE SPENT $13,000 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. WHEN I WAS DISCUSSING THE ISSUE WITH THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, THEY INFORMED ME THAT RECALL W58 HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN APPLIED TO SIMILAR RAM 1500S AND WOULD HAVE ADDRESSED THE EXACT ISSUE THAT WAS HAPPENING WITH MY VEHICLE. I AM REQUESTING REVIEW TO HAVE THE SAME RECALL ADDED TO VEHICLES THAT ARE SIMILAR TO MINE.
My ecoDiesel engine failed after 134k miles. Does not seem like an issue but the failure rate of this engine is very high - from Boards, from Dealers, emails by FCA. Since they fail at a high rate, it puts lot of broken vehicles on the road and puts the people in the vehicle at more risk for injury. It is a safety issue. They changed oil to fix major bearing failures as evidenced in these emails and Valvoline's letter rebukes it. Their emissions scandal forced them to make the engine do something the engine can not handle. These are time bombs.
Hydraulic lifters seize up causing the vehicle to lose power. The check engine light comes on with code P0305 meaning the number five cylinder is misfiring this is due to not having enough oil going to the hydraulic lifter. I have mentioned this to the dealership and they said there is no recall on it but they have had a lot of issues and have parts readily available to fix this problem. The safety problem I am having is I do not have enough power to accelerate into traffic or highway entrances
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while coming out of a full stop, the vehicle would stall. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed but not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure but informed the contact they were unable to assist. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.
Exhaust manifold leak due to both rear studs breaking on each side of the engine. This is my 3rd dodge ram with the 5.7 liter engine that has had this problem. The other vehicle years were a 2003 Ram 2500 and a 2013 Ram 1500. With as many complaints about this problem, I am surprised there hasn't been a fix and a recall. So far, I am 3 trucks each with the same issue. I would think that two exhaust manifolds leaking in the engine compartment would pose as a safety issue by breathing the fumes sucked into the cab. The dealer repaired this issue thanks to an extended warranty.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would drive rough and the engine temperature was elevated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the electronic gas recovery module had malfunctioned, and the engine intake manifold was cracked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,000.
Several exhaust manifold bolts are sheared off allowing leaking exhaust gases to enter inside of vehicle.
Can and lifter failure where the eco mode in the engine shut off certain cylinders and made the lifter mess up the lifter and cam shaft has happened to multiple rams if you call a engine shop they have the same problem with almost every truck and it is at a big cost

Heard engine ticking sound when vehicle had 65k around. It became more and more serious as the vehicle kept aging. On a day in May 2021, I finally figured the cause of ticking sound was the exhaust manifold leak. I brought the vehicle to dealership two days ago and they told me two exhaust manifold bolts on driver side were broken, and one exhaust manifold stud on passenger side was broken. Got bolts and studs replaced with providing MOPAR parts myself. Labor cost itself is $1,190.00 before tax and misc. charges.
THE IDLE DROPPED TO 550 RPM S (REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE) WHICH SHOULD BE 900 RPM AND THE ENGINE STALLED OUT. THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE CRANK CASE PCV (PRESSURE CONTROL VALVE). IT'S AN ENGINEERING DESIGN FLAW IN THE PCV- IT'S WORKING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. THIS ALSO CAN CAUSE OTHER PROBLEMS IN THE VACUM SYSTEM LIKE BRAKE FAILURE AND IMPROPER FUEL CONSUMPTION, AND ENGINE OVER-HEATING.
WHILE DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON US411 WHICH IS A FAIRLY STRAIGHT TWO LANE PAVED ROAD IN GORDON COUNTY GA, I PULLED OUT TO PASS A SLOWER VEHICLE. WHEN THE ENGINE RPMS HIT 4500 THE TRUCK STARTED TO SHAKE AND LOOSE POWER. NO CODES WERE THROWN AT THE TIME. I WAS FORCED TO SLOW TO BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT AND FOR SAFETY REASONS COULDN'T COMPLETE THE PASS. I PULLED OVER INTO THE SHOULDER AND THE TRUCK WAS EXPERIENCING A VERY ROUGH IDLE. I TURNED OF THE IGNITION AND ON RESTART THE ENGINE FELT AND SOUNDED NORMAL. I CONTINUED HOME. THE NEXT DAY I STARTED THE TRUCK AND IT THREW A CODE. I TOOK IT TO THE RAM DEALER, AFTER DIAGNOSIS THEY SAID IT HAD A BAD CAM AND THE ENGINE NEEDED REPLACEMENT.

I HAD TO HAVE MY EXHAUST FLEX PIPE REPLACED PIPE CONNECTS ENGINE TO EXHAUST SYSTEM. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM ON VEHICLES USING 3.0LITER ECODIESEL. THE PIPE DEGRADES AND STARTS LEAKING EXHAUST INTO THE CAB. ON LINE FORUMS DISCUSS THIS PROBLEM WITH ALL THE VEHICLES THAT USE THIS MOTOR. 2014 ALL THE WAY UP TO 2020 VEHICLES. THE COST FOR ME WAS $7,000.00 TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THE COST ITSELF IS DIFFICULT FOR ANYONE TO COME UP WITH AND I WOULD ASSUME YOU WILL LOOK INTO THIS FURTHER. THIS IS HAPPENING AT VERY LOW MILEAGE, MY TRUCK HAS ONLY 43,000 MILES. SOME WITH MUCH LESS MILEAGE. PLEASE LOOK AT THIS PROBLEM AS A SAFETY AND HEALTH ISSUE. THE EFFECT OF CARBONMONOXIDE POISONING AND TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS ARE HIGH AND WHAT IT DOES TO THE BRAIN. THE SMELL OF EXHAUST GETS INTO THE VEHICLES WEATHER MOVING OR STATIONARY. THANK YOU!
ENGINE CYLINDER MISFIRES. ENGINE BLOCK 5,6,(7,8). MANY REPORTED 170 K MILEAGE VEHICLE BROKE DOWN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. ALL REPLACED PARTS DID NOTHING SOLVE ISSUE. I STILL OWE $26,000 ON A 2014 - BEING TOLD TO PUT A NEW ENGINE NO REVERSAL OF SHOWN MILEAGE AFTER REPLACEMENT. NEW ENGINE $6 K USED ENGINE $5 K. I'M A SINGLE MOM STUCK TRYING TO KEEP MY CREDIT UP.
THE PLASTIC OIL COOLER/FILTER HOUSING CRACKED AND IS LEAKING OIL ON MY RAM TRUCK WITH V6 PENTASTAR ENGINE. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS PART ASSEMBLY FOR SEVERAL+ YEARS ALREADY. IT CRACKED ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO ALONG WITH SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF OTHER PEOPLE ACROSS THE UNITED STATE DURING THE COLD WEATHER THAT A GOOD PORTION OF THE UNITED STATES WENT THROUGH. AS OF TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2021 THERE WAS AN ESTIMATED 37,700 BACK ORDERS AS PER A DEALERSHIP SERVICE TECH ON THIS PART AND AS FAR AS I KNOW THIS IS JUST THE FACTORY OEM PART FROM DEALERS, IT DOESN'T INCLUDE THE AFTER MARKET PART WHICH IS ALSO UNAVAILABLE AND ON BACK ORDER EVERYWHERE! NO ONE HAS THIS PART. IT MIGHT BE AVAILABLE BY THE MIDDLE OF MARCH, MAYBE, THE DEALERS ARE UNSURE. A LOT OF WEBSITES SAY THEY HAVE IT UNTIL YOU CALL THEM OR THEY SAY T WILL BE SHIPPED IN MARCH OR APRIL, BUT WHO REALLY KNOWS THAT FOR SURE. THERE IS A LONG HISTORY OF THIS PART HAVING PROBLEMS AND THE CONSUMER HAVING TO FIX AND PAY FOR THE AUTOMAKERS BAD PART AND THAT NEEDS TO STOP! AS OF RIGHT NOW THERE ARE SOME 37,700+ THAT HAVE AN OIL LEAK AND MORE THAN LIKELY CANNOT EVEN DRIVE THE VEHICLE DUE TO THIS PROBLEM AND POSSIBLY HAVING TO RENT OR BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE TO GET TO WORK AND WHATEVER ELSE THEY NEED TO USE IT FOR WHICH IS MORE MONEY OUT OF THE CONSUMERS POCKET. RIGHT NOW I CANNOT DRIVE MY TRUCK DUE TO THIS PROBLEM AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN I WILL GET A PART FOR IT. GO ONLINE AND LOOK THIS PROBLEM UP AND YOU WILL FIND A LOT OF COMPLAINTS AND HOW LONG THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING. ATTACHED IS AN IMAGE OF THE BAD OIL COOLER/FILTER ASSEMBLY. THIS PART IS ON A LOT OF CHRYSLER/DODGE VEHICLES WITH V6 PENTASTAR ENGINES.
LIFTER TICK WITH MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 2. DECREASED GAS MILEAGE. MOST NOTABLE AT IDLE.
I NOTICED A TICKING SOUND AND POWER LOSS PLUS MY ENGINE WOULD NOT REV PAST 4,000 RPM. THE FIRST MECHANIC STATED AN EXHAUST HEADER LEAK. HE FOUND THREE BROKEN BOLTS AND STATED THIS IS A VERY COMMON 5.7L HEMI ISSUE (MY RESEARCH CONFIRMED THIS). $1,200 TO REPAIR. THE TICKING WAS STILL THERE HOWEVER. THE SECOND MECHANIC (2 MONTHS LATER) FOUND A MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 5. FURTHER DIGGING SHOWED THE LIFTER HAD FAILED AND THE CAM LOBE WAS GROUND DOWN. METAL SHAVINGS WERE DISPERSED THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE. BEST REPAIR WAS A NEW ENGINE $9,556. I'VE NOW SPENT ALMOST HALF OF WHAT I PAID FOR THIS VEHICLE ON REPAIRS. THE SECOND MECHANIC STATED THIS LIFTER ISSUE IS VERY COMMON TOO. HE WAS SURPRISED THERE WAS NOT ALREADY A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. IF YOU SCOUR THE WEB IT'S ABUNDANTLY CLEAR THAT THIS LIFTER ISSUE IS INDEED A PROBLEM WITH BOTH THE 5.7L AND 6.3L HEMI MOTORS. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE ENGINE WERE TO CATASTROPHICALLY FAIL WHILE IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY OR ELSEWHERE.

FCA PUT OUT A NOTICE OF RECALL IN AUGUST OF 2020 (W58). IT IS NOW THE 14TH OF JANUARY AND STILL NO RESOLUTION. THE RAM DEALER SAYS WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL FCA DETERMINES A RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. THE NHTSA WEBSITE SAYS THE SAME THING - NOT YET RESOLVED. THE RECALL SAYS THE DEFECT CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STALL AND CRASH, YET I AM STILL WAITING FOR A FIX 5 MONTHS SINCE THE RECALL WAS SENT OUT. I AM PUTTING MY FAMILY IN JEOPARDY EVERY DAY WHILE WAITING. THIS SHOULD NOT BE AN ACCEPTABLE TO THE NHTSA. JOSEPH THOMAS
WE HAVE CHANGED THE BOLTS IN OUR ENGINE MULTIPLE TIMES. WE DID IT WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY MANY TIMES AND EVEN ASK THE DEALER ABOUT A RECALL. OTHER TRUCKS THIS MAKE AND MODEL HAS HAD THE SAME ISSUE. NOW DUE TO THE BOLTS BREAKING AGAIN WE ARE HAVING TO DO MORE WORK. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE. WE LOVE OUR TRUCK BUT THINK THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE MOTOR BUILD UP. WE EVEN HAD THREE DIFFERENT MECHANICS TELL US THE SAME THING. I CAN PROVIDE PAPERWORK IF NEEDED! THIS JUST HAPPENS EVER FEW MONTHS. I CAN GO OUTSIDE WITH IT STATIONARY AND AS SOON AS I START THE TRUCK I CAN TELL IF ANOTHER BOLT HAS BROKEN.

4 MANIFOLD EXHAUST BOLTS BROKE OFF. WHEN STARTING VEHICLE YOU COULD SMELL EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE OF THE CAB. THIS HAS TO BE A SAFETY PROBLEM AND DESERVES A RECALL. IF YOU GOOGLE RAM 1500 WITH THE 5.7L HEMI ENGINE AND YOU WILL SEE THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.
VEHICLE HAS BEEN UNDER MULTIPLE RECALL REPAIRS RECENTLY AND WAS WORKING PROPERLY WHEN IT WAS LAST IN OUR POSSESSION. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR ANOTHER RECALL. WHEN THEY WERE DOING THEIR ROAD TEST, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THEY ARE NOW TELLING US THERE IS A NEED FOR A NEW MOTOR ($13,000 - $14,000).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V757000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER LITHIA GRANTS PASS AUTO CENTER (1421 NE 6TH ST, GRANTS PASS, OR 97526) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
NOT EVEN 80,000 ON MY TRUCK AND MY TRUCK HAS CAMSHAFT PROBLEMS IT'S IN THE SHOP NOW
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FCA STATING THAT A FAULTY EGR COOLER CAN CAUSE FIRES AND IS A SAFETY CONCERN. THE RECALL ALSO STATES THAT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. I HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL RAM DEALERS AND THEY ALL TELL ME THAT PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER AND THAT EACH DEALER ONLY GETS ONE SET OF PARTS PER WEEK. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IT MAY BE AS LONG AS 6-8 MONTHS BEFORE MY TRUCK CAN BE ADDRESSED. MINE IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. AS A MEMBER OF A RAM FORUM OF 17K MEMBERS, THIS IS AN FREQUENT COMPLAINT. SINCE RAM KNOWS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE, THEY SHOULD BE EITHER REPAIRING THE VEHICLES OR PROVIDING LOANER TRANSPORTATION UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THE REPAIR CAN BE MADE.
MY TRUCK KNOCKS WHEN STARTING ENGINE
I HAD MY END OR ENGINE OIL CHANGED AT A RAM DEALERSHIP IN NORTHFIELD MINNESOTA AT NORTHFIELD AUTOMOTIVE GROUP AND 132 MILES AFTER THE OIL WAS CHANGED BY THE DEALERSHIP MY ENGINE BLEW IT THROUGH A ROD THROUGH THE BLOCK
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE VB1 TO REPLACE EGR COOLER THAT MAY CAUSE ENGINE FIRE. THE RECALL SAYS THAT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. I CONTACTED 2 DEALER AND HAD CHAT WITH FCA DIRECTLY. ALL OF THEM TOLD ME THAT PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. NEITHER DEALER WOULD GIVE ME AN APPOINTMENT DATE AND SAID THAT THERE WERE MANY AHEAD OF ME. FCA SAID THAT PARTS ARE ALLOCATED AT 1 SET OF PARTS PER DEALER PER WEEK. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THESE TRUCKS ARE AT RISK FOR FIRE THAT COULD RESULT IN INJURY, BUT FCA IS NOT RESPONSIVE BY THE FACT THAT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. *TR

EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BREAKING ON 5.7L HEMI ENGINE. UNKNOWN WHEN IT OCCURRED BUT HAS HAPPENED TWICE AT SEPARATE TIMES/MILEAGE. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM THAT NEEDS ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL. *TR
MY TRUCK HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEAR THAT SAID "FUEL INJECTION LOWER THAN EXPECTED. WHEN I WOULD CRANK IT UP, YOU COULD HEAR THE ENGINE RUNNING HARDER THAN IT SHOULD WITH AN AUDIBLE CONSTANT KNOCK. I MADE A COUPLE STOPS AND IT SHUT OFF ON ME JUST BEFORE THE SECOND STOP. I TRIED CRANKING IT UP AGAIN, AND IT STARTED, BUT TOOK AWHILE TO START. AFTER THAT, I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH WHEN I HEARD A LOUD "BOOM" FROM UNDER THE HOOD. MY TRUCK SHUT DOWN ON ME IN TRAFFIC. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT HIT BY ANY OTHER MOTORISTS AND MADE IT TO AN ADJACENT PARKING LOT. THEN AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START IT AGAIN, I FINALLY HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK BECAUSE MY TRUCK WAS INOPERABLE. *TR

I STARTED HEARING A KNOCKING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE. I TOOK IT IN TO THE SHOP AND FOUND THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHER RECALL ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. CONSIDERING I USED MY VEHICLE FOR TYPICAL DRIVING, AND KEEP IT MAINTAINED WITH REGULARLY SCHEDULED SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGES, TIRES ROTATIONS AND FLUID REFILLS THAT IT SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD ANY OF THE CURRENT ISSUES WRONG WITH IT. THE REP TRIED TO PROCLAIM THAT THE KNOCKING SOUND CAME FROM NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE ENGINE. I STRONGLY DISAGREED WITH HIM, THE $5500 ESTIMATED REPAIR COST AND DECIDED TO VOICE MY CONCERNS WITH COMING ON HERE TO REPORT IT. THE MOST ALARMING THING IS THAT THEY TRIED TO PRESSURE ME INTO STARTING THE REPAIR OF THE VEHICLE WHILE STATING THAT THEY NEEDED TO GET INTO THE ENGINE FIRST BEFORE THEY COULD DETERMINE IF THAT WAS ALL WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I'LL NEVER BUY A DODGE AGAIN AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE.
BROKEN EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS
I WAS DRIVING MY RAM 1500 ECODIESEL TO AND FROM WORK AND NOTICED A KNOCKING SOUND. SCHEDULED A SERVICE APPOINTMENT AND THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED MY TRUCK WITH CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. A NEW ENGINE IS REQUIRED WITH A REPAIR BILL OF $12,370. THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE, A LAW SUIT HAS BEEN FILED DUE TO CHRYSLER REFUSING TO COVER REPAIR COST. I FEEL CHRYSLER SOLD ME A LEMON, PLEASE CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS HAVE BROKEN DUE TO POOR DESIGN CAUSING AN EXHAUST LEAK INTO THE CABIN. MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS BUT NO RECALL.
THE VEHICLE LISTED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS HAS COMPLETELY SHUT-OFF AS MY SPEED IS REDUCED WHILE MAKING A TURN OR COMING TO A STOP AT SPEEDS BELOW 15. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR CODES HAVE BEEN RECOVERED TO SHOW IF SOMETHING IS MALFUNCTIONING OR IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE.
1. HAD TO REPLACE THE EXHAUST SYTEM BECAUSE THE AUTOMATIC EXHAUST STOPPED WORKING AFTER TOWING THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER TO CREATE A FORCED REGEN 2. REPLACED 2 TURBOS 3. AFTER EMISSION RECALL WAS COMPLETED, ENGINE WAS LOOSING ANTIFREEZE AND OVERHEATED. ADDED ANTIFREEZE SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN THE ENGINE STARTED BLOWING WHITE SMOKE, ENGINE KNOCKING LIKE A LOOSE CRANK OR ROCKER ARM TRUCK LOST COMPLETE POWER. THE TRUCK WAS DELIVERED TO RAM DEALER IN RIVERHEAD, AFTER SPENDING 1600 DOLLARS FOR ENGINE DIAGNOSIS, WHICH WAS CLEAR APPARENT TO ANYONE , THE SAID ENGINE WAS NO GOOD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT EMITTED A LOUD NOISE WITHOUT WARNING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: V08 (EMISSIONS); HOWEVER, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED EVER SINCE THE REMEDY WAS PERFORMED. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS SPUTTERING WHILE DRIVING AND FUMES WERE PRESENT INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL ECONOMY WENT FROM APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES PER GALLON TO 16 MILES PER GALLON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BONIFACE-HIERS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP (1775 E MERRITT ISLAND CAUSEWAY, MERRITT ISLAND, FL 32952, (321) 452-8181) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS WERE CRACKING, WHICH CAUSED FUMES TO LEAK INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND THE WARRANTY EXPIRED TWO MONTHS AGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REPAIRS COMPLETED UNDER THE WARRANTY WERE STILL FAILING. DIEHL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF ROBINSON (6181 STEUBENVILLE PIKE, MCKEES ROCKS, PA 15136, (412) 722-1800) ACKNOWLEDGED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT IT OCCURRED OFTEN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
I WAS DRIVING AND THE TRUCK STARTED TO IDLE HIGH AND THEN BLEW A BIG CLOUD OF SMOKE LIKE IT WAS ON FIRE I SHUT IT OFF AND IT WOULD NOT RESTART. I TOOK IT BACK TO WHERE I BOUGHT IT TO HAVE THE WARRANTY FIX IT BUT THEY ARE STATING THERE IS AN OPEN RECALL FOR THE INTAKE MANIFOLD CATCHING FIRE AND WILL NOT FIX IT AND THERE IS NO FIX FOR A BASED ON THE RECALL INFO
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE MISFIRED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO IDLE ROUGHLY, SHUDDER, AND EXHIBIT POOR ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LITHIA DODGE JEEP (5001 GRIZZLY CT, MISSOULA, MT) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD AND VALVE TRAIN WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: FCA-68094470, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
EXAUST (CARBON MONOXIDE) LEAK: ON MY VEHICLE AND MANY OTHERS I HAVE HEARD, EITHER THE EXAUST MANIFOLD OR THE MANIFOLD BOLTS CRACK OR BREAK CAUSING A LEAK AND LOUD CLICKING NOISE. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE PASSENGER SIDE MANIFOLD UNDER MY WARRANTY BUT NOW THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS CRACKED OR BROKEN AND THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. THE NOISE STOPS AFTER WARMUP BUT HERE IS TILL A QUESTION OF HOW MUCH CARBON MONOXIDE LEAKAGE IS ACCEPTABLE UNTIL HE NOISE STOPS.
SMALL HOLES IN EGR HOSES, CAUSED COOLANT LEAK. RESULTING IN EGR TO NOT HEAT UP ENOUGH AND EXHAUST FILTER TO GET FULL AND NOT GO INTO REGEN.
EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BROKEN CAUSING AN EXHAUST LEAK AT START UP.
HAD THE AEM EMISSION RECALL DONE NOW TRUCK RUNS BAD. SLUGGISH AND NO THROTTLE RESPONSE FOR 4 TO 5 SECONDS. LOST 5 MILES PER GALLON. SHIFT POINTS CHANGED. LOTS OF PINGING AND TURBO BACK FLUSH. LOUD AND SOUND LIKE ROD OR CYLINDER RATTLING. NO POWER PULLING TRAILER OR WHEN CLIMBING HILLS, HAVE TO KEEP IT FLOORED. DEALER CONFIRMED ALL PROBLEMS AND SAYS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. AROUND 55000 MILES.
I HAD THE AEM UPDATE DONE ON MY 2014 RAM ECODIESEL. THE RECALL DRASTICALLY AFFECTED THE PERFORMANCE OF THE TRUCK. THE ACCELERATION IS NOW DANGEROUSLY SLOW. MY WIFE, MY SON, AND I HAVE ALL NEARLY BEEN IN ACCIDENTS RIGHT AFTER THE RECALL WAS DONE BECAUSE WE WERE NOT AWARE HOW THE PERFORMANCE HAD BEEN REDUCED SO MUCH. FROM A STANDSTILL THE TRUCK TAKES 3-5 SECONDS TO BEGIN TO ACCELERATE. THE TRUCK IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK AND STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE FUEL INDICATOR READ THAT THERE WAS NO FUEL IN THE TANK. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO JT'S DODGELAND OF COLUMBIA (LOCATED AT 190 GREYSTONE BLVD, COLUMBIA, SC 29210, 803-832-1255) WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL RELAY SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE (CP4) CAUSED A QUOTED $9500 REPAIR BILL.
MY TRUCK WAS RECALLED FOR AN EMISSION RECALL,V08.ALL THE ISSUES STARTED AFTER THAT. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING IT HAS NO POWER BETWEEN 1000-2200 RPM. IT HESITATES WHEN THE THROTTLE IS APPLIED. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN ACCELERATING, IN THE CITY AND ON THE HIGHWAY. IT DOES THIS EVEN AFTER IT IS WARMED UP. WHEN TOWING A BOAT IT IS VERY BAD. IT CAN HARDLY PULL THE BOAT UP THE RAMP. IT IS A SAFETY AND PERFORMANCE ISSUE.
IN MOTION LOST ALL POWER WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SHOP COOLANT BYPASS VALVE PART NUMBER #68483334AA WITH RESEARCH SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ALSO PART IS NOT AVAILABLE TO ORDER
FCA WAS RECENTLY INVOLVED IN AN EMISSIONS SCANDAL. THE REQUIRED UPDATE (AEM) THAT HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED TO SATISFY THE EPA HAS LEFT THE TRUCK DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THROTTLE RESPONSE IS TERRIBLE, LEAVING A 5 TO 6 SECOND DELAY BEFORE ANY POWER IS GAINED. THE TRANSMISSION WONT DOWNSHIFT GOING THROUGH ROUNDABOUTS, CREATING A HAZARD AS THE TRUCK WILL NOT ACCELERATE. FREEWAY DRIVING HAS THE TRUCK HANGING IN 7TH GEAR, BARELY SHIFTING INTO 8TH. MILEAGE HAS DROPPED 3MPG, CONSISTENTLY. IN THE HASTE TO SATISFY THE EPA, FCA HAS PUT THOUSANDS OF DANGEROUS, UNDER PERFORMING VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY. MANY PEOPLE ARE SEEING FAILURES IN THE EMISSIONS COMPONENTS ON THE VEHICLES SINCE THE UPDATE, INCLUDING ME. I AM SCHEDULING MY INTAKE MANIFOLD AND EGR COOLER REPLACEMENT AS I TYPE THIS... SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO GET THESE VEHICLES BACK TO A SAFE, RELIABLE AUTOMOBILE...
ON FEBRUARY 23, 2019, I BOUGHT A 2014 RAM 1500 LARAMIE EDITION TRUCK WITH A 3.0 VM MOTORI TWIN TURBO ECODIESEL ENGINE. THE TRUCK HAD 78,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE TRUCK. THE FACTORY WARRANTY (5 YEARS/100,000 MILES) RAN OUT ON APRIL 12, 2019, DUE TO THE TRUCK BEING 5 YEARS OLD. I FOLLOWED THE MANUFACTURES RECOMMENDATIONS AND USED VALVOLINE EURO 15W40 DIESEL MOTOR OIL WHEN I CHANGED THE OIL, WHICH WAS AS SOON AS THE OIL SENSOR INDICATED THAT THE OIL WAS READY FOR CHANGING. ON MAY 2, 2019, I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 70 MPH. THE TRUCK MADE A BRIEF ROARING SOUND AND THE ENGINE DIED. I COASTED OVER TO THE LEFT SHOULDER AND STOPPED. A LARGE AMOUNT OF OIL WAS UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK NOW HAD 83,000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND THE COST WOULD BE $13,219.40 PLUS ANY ADDITIONAL COST BEYOND THE LONG BLOCK ENGINE. I BEGAN RESEARCHING AND FOUND NUMEROUS ARTICLES THAT EXPLAINED THAT THE 3.0 VM MOTORI TWIN TURBO ECODIESEL ENGINE HAS A DESIGN FLAW THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO DESTROY ITSELF. BASICALLY THE CAM GEAR IS NOT SECURED TO THE CAM SHAFT. THE TIMING CHAIN'S TORQUE IS THE ONLY THING THAT HOLDS THE GEAR TO THE SHAFT. ONCE THE GEAR SLIPS AND THE TIMING CHAIN JUMPS, THE VALVES COLLIDE WITH THE PISTONS, STARTING A CHAIN REACTION THAT DESTROYS THE ENGINE. MY TRUCK RAN PERFECTLY UNTIL THE ENGINE FAILURE. THERE WAS NO WARNING. THE ARTICLES RECOUNT NUMEROUS ENGINE FAILURES OF THIS ENGINE WITH SOME ENGINES THAT HAD LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON THEM. THE FAILURES HAPPENED WITH ENGINES THAT WERE IDLING AND ENGINES RUNNING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ONE ARTICLE CLAIMS TO HAVE AN INTERNAL CHRYSLER DOCUMENT THAT STATES THAT OF THE 198,000 OF THESE VEHICLES SOLD IN THE U.S. AND CANADA THE ENGINE FAILURE RATE HAS BEEN AS HIGH AS 19 PER WEEK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. VEHICLE EXPERIENCED LOST OF AUTOMOTIVE POWER VEHICLE WOULD NOT PROPERLY ACCELLERATE FAILURES AFTER SERVICE FOR EMISSIONS RECALL THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO HESITATE AND LOOSE POWER. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER MARLOW MOTOR COMPANY(707 N. COMMERCE AVE, FRONT ROYAL, VA) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE BEGAN TO OCCUR AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED FOR AN EMISSIONS RECALL. NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
ON JUNE THE 5TH 2019 MY ECODIESEL RECALL WAS PERFORMED AT THE DEALER. IT WAS PART OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. THREE DAYS LATER THE TRUCK STARTED RUNNING BAD. IT HAS DEAD FUEL PEDAL AND LOSS OF POWER. I BROUGHT IT BACK FOR A SECOND TIME TO HAVE THE RECALL PREFORMED AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AS OF NOW. I'M AFRAID TO PUT MY FAMILY IN THE TRUCK DUE TO THE FACT THAT WHEN I PULL OUT INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC I DONT KNOW IF I WILL HAVE POWER OR NOT. I'M SCHEDULED FOR THE 9TH OF SEPTEMBER TO ATTEMPT THE RECALL A 3RD TIME.
I HAVE A 2014 RAM 1500 WITH THE 3.0L ECODIESEL ENGINE. AFTER RECEIVING THE V08 EMISSIONS RECALL, I AM EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE TURBO LAG/SLOW ACCELERATION WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. IT IS BAD ENOUGH THAT I AM FORCED TO STEP ON THE THROTTLE JUST TO GET THE VEHICLE THROUGH INTERSECTIONS OR WHEN MERGING ON HIGHWAYS. IT WAS NOT LIKE THIS PRIOR TO THE V08 EMISSIONS RECALL CAMPAIGN AND THE ACCELERATION LAG HAS ALMOST CAUSED A COUPLE.ACCIDENTS AS THE TRUCK WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE OUT OF SITUATIONS IN WHICH IT USED TO HAVE NO PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THE V08 RECALL.
DUE TO THE ECODIESEL SETTLEMENT PROGRAM, I ALLOWED FCA TO UPDATE THE ECM TO MEET THEIR REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SETTLEMENT. AFTER THE UPDATE, MY TRUCK IS DANGEROUSLY SLOW FROM A STANDING START. I NEVER KNOW IF THE TRUCK WILL ACCELERATE AS I MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. SOMETIME IT IS BARELY ADEQUATE BUT MOST OF THE TIME THERE IS A 2 TO 4 SECOND DELAY BEFORE THE TURBO KICKS IN (AROUND 2,000 RPM) AND THEN THERE IS A STRONG TURBO LEAP BECAUSE MY FOOT IS BURIED IN THE FLOOR TRYING TO GET THE TRUCK TO MOVE. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN T-BONED OR REAR-ENDED SEVERAL TIMES CROSSING STREETS AND MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND FCA TOLD ME THERE ISN'T ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE BECAUSE THE TRUCK DIDN'T SHOW ANY ERROR CODES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PERFORMED HIS OWN DIAGNOSTIC AND REPLACED THE CAMSHAFT AND CRANKSHAFT SENSORS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO MISFIRE AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE CONTACT PERFORMED SEVERAL REPAIRS ON HIS VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT DROVE TO WHITTEN BROTHERS OF ASHLAND (11409 WASHINGTON HWY, ASHLAND, VA 23005, 804-798-6071) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT EITHER THE MOTOR OR THE CAMSHAFT AND LIFTERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 182,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S FUEL SENSOR FAILED AND THE FUEL GAUGE WENT TO ZERO. ALSO, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT BLANK AND "FUEL SENSOR FAILURE" WAS DISPLAYED. THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO LAWLESS CHRYSLER DODGE (196 LEXINGTON ST, WOBURN, MA 01801, (888) 384-4956) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW FUEL SENSOR WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. *TR*JB
ECODIESEL-POST EPA REQUIRED REPAIRS- TURBO LAG / DELAYED ACCELERATION. UP TO A TWO SECOND TIME DELAY BEFORE VEHICLE WILL PROCEED UPON FULL THROTTLE DEMAND TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC OR FROM A STOP SIGN OR NEEDING TO PASS A VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.. THE DELAY WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT TO OCCUR. PRIOR TO THE EPA REPAIRS, VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE ANY TURBO LAG/ACCELERATION ISSUES. ONE COULD ACCELERATE WITH FULL, PARTIAL OR MINIMAL THROTTLE AND HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE PERFORMING AS NEEDED. DISCUSSED THIS PROBLEM WITH LOCAL RAM DEALER, THEY STATED THERE IS NO CURRENT FIX BEING CONSIDERED BY FCA. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE WITH VEHICLES BEING INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS AS THE VEHICLE THINKS ABOUT ACCELERATING. PLEASE ADVISE IF THERE ARE ANY KNOWN REMEDIES FOR THIS SOFTWARE ISSUE? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION. FORTUNATELY NO BENT SHEET METAL YET.
AFTER COMPLETING THE EMISSIONS RECALL ON MY ECO DIESEL TRUCK I HAVE LOST ALL STARTING POWER. IT FEELS LIKE I HAVE LOST TURBO AND TAKE ROUGHLY 2-3 SEC TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. I HAVE TRIED FLOORING IT AND STILL NO TAKE OFF; IT SLOWLY ACCELERATES INTO TRAFFIC BEFORE IT FINALLY GOES. SO FAR I HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO NOT BE HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
FCA IS NOT VERY HELPFUL AND THE DEALER THAT I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK FROM DENIED SERVICE AFTER SEEING THERE WAS AN ENGINE LIGHT ON. I HAVE IT IN ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH IT AND THEY ARE SAYING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IS MELTED FROM THE EGR BEING STUCK OPEN. I BELIEVE THE EGR VALVE HAS TO DO WITH EMISSIONS AND THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS BUT YET THEY WANT THE 5300 TO FIX IT.
THIS 2014 RAM ECODIESEL RECEIVED THE APPROVED EMISSION MODIFICATION FROM FCA AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP ON JUNE 5TH 2019. AFTER RECEIVING THE ENGINE SOFTWARE UPDATE THE TRUCK EXPERIENCES SIGNIFICANT DELAY IN ACCELERATION CAUSING ENTERING TO TRAFFIC TO BE DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE. EXAMPLE: ON TWO OCCASIONS, I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO ENTER TRAFFIC AND HAVE ALMOST BEEN BROADSIDED AS THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE DESPITE PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, I WAS ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE UP A STEEP ROAD AND THE ENGINE WOULD APPEAR TO STALL OUT CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO REMAIN STATIONARY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO GO UP HILL. THIS VEHICLE NEVER DISPLAYED ANY OF THIS BEHAVIOR PRIOR TO RECEIVING THE NEW ENGINE SOFTWARE FROM FCA. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT DANGEROUS, UNSAFE, AND UNPREDICTABLE TO DRIVE.
SINCE THE LAST RECALL, THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD A MAJOR DELAY WHEN HITTING THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS DUE TO LACK OF POWER WHEN HITTING THE GAS PEDAL.
I HAD THE RECENT RECALL COMPLETED AT MY LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP AND AM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE MY TRUCK AS THERE IS CONSIDERABLE "LAG" UPON ACCELERATION. THIS IS A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE AS I WAS ALMOST STRUCK BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THEY STATED THE RECALL DID NOT AFFECT PERFORMANCE BUT IT HAS DEFINITELY AFFECTED PERFORMANCE. I BROUGHT IT BECK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY IT WAS DOING WHAT IT WAS DOING AND INSTEAD SAID I NEED TO CHANGE MY OIL THAT OF WHICH I CHANGED 2000 MILES AGO AND ALSO TRY AN INJECTOR CLEANER. MY FUEL MILEAGE HAS ALSO DECREASED FROM 25 OR 26 MPG HWY TO 20 MPG HWY.
2014 RAM ECODIESEL - I RECENTLY HAD MY AEM RECALL COMPLETED AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WITH THE PROMISE THAT PERFORMANCE AND FUEL MILEAGE WOULD NOT BE AFFECTED. NOT ONLY WERE THEY BOTH NEGATIVELY AFFECTED, THEY WERE AFFECTED TO THE POINT OF A SAFETY CONCERN. MY GAS MILEAGE GOING DOWN BY OVER 5MPG IS NOTHING COMPARED TO ALMOST GETTING T-BONED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC DUE TO EXTENSIVE TURBO LAG (2-3 SECONDS) AFTER THE AEM WAS COMPLETED. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE WHEN I GO TO MAKE A LEFT TURN FROM A DEAD STOP, PRESS THE ACCELERATOR, AND THE TRUCK JUST SITS THERE. LUCKILY THERE HAS BEEN A SHOULDER FOR ME TO SWERVE INTO TO GET OUT OF THE WAY FROM BEING REAR-ENDED. THE 0-60 TIME WHILE ENTERING THE FREEWAY ON RAMP IS ALSO CAUSE FOR CONCERN. MULTIPLE TIMES I HAVE HAD A FELLOW DRIVE LAY ON THEIR HORN BECAUSE THE TRUCK JUST CANNOT GAIN SPEED FAST ENOUGH. NOW, IF I WERE GETTING BETTER GAS MILEAGE WITH THE DECREASE IN PERFORMANCE, THAT WOULD BE ONE THING. BUT TO GET SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE GAS MILEAGE AND HAVE THIS DEATH BOX NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED IS JUST AWFUL. FCA HAS LIED TO THEIR CONSUMERS WITH THIS UPDATE AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAVE THAT RECALL INSTALLED ON VEHICLES.
OIL FILTER ADAPTER OIL LEAK DEALER REPLACED ONE SEAL .CONTINUES TO LEAK LESS. PENTASTAR V6 DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE OIL ADAPTER. FIRE HAZARD. BELL HOUSING AND TRANSMISSION PAN SOAKED WITH MOTOR OIL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL TAPPING NOISE, WHICH WAS A DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO JT'S DODGE LEXINGTON (4838 SUNSET BLVD, LEXINGTON, SC 29072, (803) 220-3725) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE DETAILS WERE NOT PROVIDED. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING TO FIND OUT IF THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE SAME DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE ALL REPAIRS FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,657. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
VEHICLE HAD WELL KNOW LIFTER FAILER INSIDE A 5.7L HEMI. THE FAILURE CAUSED A CAM SHAFT NOTCH TO BE PLACED IN THE LOBBY OF THE SHAFT. VEHICLE STILL HAS FACTORY WARRANTY BUT FACTORY OEM PARTS THAT ARE KNOW TO FAIL WE'RE PUT BACK IN. MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO POSSIBLE MOTOR FAILURE WHILE DRIVING LOOSING ALL POWER TO VEHICLE AND HARDNING OF BREAKING SYSTEM.
I WAS DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS PULLING A BOAT ON A FISHING TRIP. COMING OFF THE LAST PASS INTO GUNNISON COLORADO, I HEARD KNOCKING HEARD A BIG BANG. THE TRUCK SHUT DOWN FOR LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE. COULDN'T START IT, COULDN'T GET IT INTO NATURAL. GOT IT TO A DIESEL SHOP FIGURED IT SPUN A ROD BEARING. I DID NOT KNOW THAT WHEN A VIEHICAL COMES DOWN FROM CANADA, IT LOSES ITS DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY! WE ARE ALL NORTH AMERICAN! WHAT EXACTLY IS BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT DID NOT FIND A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BOLTS TO THE MANIFOLD WERE DETACHED ON BOTH SIDES AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO 1-10 CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 79200 VERNER RD, INDIO, CA 92203, (760) 345-1000). THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED AND THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,833. *BF CONSUMER STATED I HAD COMPUTER COMPONENTS (RECALLED) REPLACED DUE TO THE SHIFTER COMING OUT OF GEAR. I FEEL THAT CAUSED TRANSMISSION DAMAGE WHICH I HAD NOTIFIED 1-10 CHRYSLER DODGE ABOUT. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION AT THIS TIME. I HAD THE MANIFOLD AND THE BOTS REPLACED.*JB
IT HAS AN EXHAUST LEAK IN THE MANIFOLD DUE TO FAULTY BOLTS. I HAVE RESEARCHED IT AND TALKED TO MECHANICS, AND IT IS A WELL DOCUMENT PROBLEM WITH DODGE/RAM VEHICLES. I HAVE LEARNED THAT IT USED TO BE COVERED UNDER SOME WARRANTIES, BUT NOT ALL. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A VEHICLE DEFECT THAT DODGE/RAM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. JUNEKS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (644 W JACKSON BLVD, SPEARFISH, SD 57783, (605) 644-7773) DIAGNOSED THAT THE BOLTS FRACTURED FROM THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I STARTED GETTING A TICKING IN MY MOTOR AROUND 60K MILES. I TOOK IT TO TYLER'S CHRYSLER JEEP AND RAM IN NILES MICHIGAN FOR TWO RECALLS, THE TICKING SOUND ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, AND A POSSIBLE REAR MAIN SEAL LEAKING. THE SERVICE WRITER TOLD ME THEY PUT DYE IN THE OIL AND I HAD TO BRING IT BACK AND RECOMMENDED I REPLACE THE SPARK PLUGS FOR THE TICKING BUT DID PUT IN MY FILE WHY HE WAS RECOMMENDING IT. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO MY NORMAL MECHANIC FOR THE TICKING SOUND AGAIN AND NE SAYS I HAVE BROKEN EXHAUST STUDS. NOW I AM 2 MONTHS OUTSIDE OF MY WARRANTY AND THE DEALERSHIP WON'T COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THE SERVICE WRITER COULDN'T DO HIS JOB. IN DO RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE, APPARENTLY BROKEN EXHAUST MANIFOLD STUDS ARE SO COMMON ON THESE TRUCKS THAT REPLACING THEM IS CONSIDERED STANDARD MAINTANANCE???
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BOLT THAT HELD THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. MY WIFE AND I WERE ON A LONG ROAD TRIP WITH OUR INFANT DURING CHRISTMAS. ALL ASPECTS OF MY TRUCK WERE OPERATIONAL AND NO WARNING SIGNS. MY TRUCK IS AN ECODIESEL. ON THE WAY HOME THE TEMPS WERE BELOW FREEZING AND IT BEGAN TO RAIN. WE TRIED TO TURN THE HEAT ON IN THE TRUCK TO FIND THERE WAS NO HEAT. THE TRUCK WAS RUNNING AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE WITH NO SIGNS OF OVERHEATING. WE KEPT DRIVING UNTIL I COULD SAFELY EXIT THE HIGHWAY. WE FUELED UP AND I CHECKED THE TRUCK OVER VISUALLY BUT FOUND NO REASON FOR THE TRUCK TO HAVE NO HEAT AND STILL BE OPERATING UNDER NORMAL TEMPERATURES. WE RETURNED TO DRIVING AND HAD HEAT FOR A BRIEF MOMENT BEFORE IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. STILL THE TRUCK WAS OPERATING AT NORMAL TEMPERATURE. WHEN I FINALLY DECIDED TO CHECK THE ANTIFREEZE LEVEL, I LEARNED THAT THE TRUCK WAS VERY LOW AND DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH TO FILL THE HEATER CORE, BUT JUST ENOUGH TO KEEP THE TRUCK FROM OVERHEATING. I ADDED ANTIFREEZE AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE TRUCK FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND COULD NOT DETERMINE WHERE THE LEAK WAS. FINALLY, AFTER READING SEVERAL OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, I DISCOVERED A HIDDEN LEAK IN THE EGR COOLER THAT WAS ESSENTIALLY LEAKING AND BURNING OFF IMMEDIATELY LEAVING NO TRACE BEHIND OF THE LEAK. IT EVENTUALLY GOT BAD ENOUGH THAT IT WOULD LEAVE COOLANT PUDDLES UNDER THE TRUCK. EVEN WITH THE POOL OF COOLANT UNDER THE TRUCK, THERE IS NO VISIBLE EVIDENCE OF THE LEAK EXCEPT FOR MINOR DAMPNESS AROUND ONE PORT OF THE EGR COOLER.
THE HEMI ENGINE HAS A KNOWN ISSUE FROM 2009 5.7 HEMI UP UNTIL PRESENT BUT RAM IS NOT RECALLING THE ENGINE. THE LIFTERS ARE SEIZING CAUSING THE ENGINE TO FAIL. THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS. THESE ARE FAILING BEFORE 70K MILES AND MINE IS STARTING TO FAIL AS WELL. ITS A 4000 DOLLAR FIX WHEN THEY DO. DODGE RAM NEEDS TO RECALL THIS ISSUE. I PURCHASED MY TRUCK FOR $26000 AND HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR LESS THAN 2 YEARS.

GALEANA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (14375 S TAMIAMI TRAIL, FORT MYERS, FL 33912, (239) 481-2600) FLUSHED THE ENGINE AND STATED THAT THE WIRE HARNESS WAS NOT CONNECTED PROPERLY AND WAS TO CLOSE TO THE OIL PAN, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE ENGINE TO FAIL. THE FAILURES CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIRS. THE DEALER HAD NOT RELEASED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
ENGINE KEEPS OVERHEATING INTERMITTENTLY AND DEALERSHIPS IS NOT ABLE TO FIND THE ISSUE LOOSES COOLANT AND SMELLS LIKE COOLANT WHILE ITS RUNNING AND AFTER JUST GETTING SHUT OFF AFTER DRIVING. I HAVE HAD TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP 14 TIMES NOW AND NOTHING IS GETTING DONE.
OIL LEAK ORIGINATING FROM REPORTED FAILED FILTER HOUSING ADAPTER (PER DEALER INVESTIGATION) ON PENTASTAR 3.6L V6 ENGINE. SLOW LEAK BEGAN TO OCCUR IMMEDIATELY AFTER PREVIOUS DEALER-PERFORMED OIL CHANGE IN LATE 2018. 2/4/19 REGULAR-INTERVAL DEALER-PERFORMED OIL CHANGE FOUND OIL ALL OVER BOTH SIDES OF ENGINE. TECHNICIAN ADVISED OF REPLACING OIL FILTER HOUSING/OIL COOLER ADAPTER AND ASSOCIATED GASKETS FOR QUOTE OF $995. LEAK OBSERVED ON PERSONAL GARAGE FLOOR, AS WELL AS ALONG DRIVEWAY (WHILE IN MOTION), SINCE PRIOR OIL CHANGE. MULTIPLE INTERNET SEARCHES FIND FAULTS OF THIS EQUIPMENT ACROSS A WIDE VARIANCE OF 2014 3.6L PENTASTAR V6 ENGINES INSTALLED IN VARIOUS FIAT-CHRYSLER AMERICA MODELS.
MAJOR OIL LEAK ENGINE COOLER. CAUSING OIL TO LEAK WHILE DRIVING WHICH IS GETTING ON THE TIRES. ON WET ROADS THIS HAS CAUSED THE REAR END OF THE TRUCK TO FISHTAIL AT NORMAL DRIVE SPEEDS AROUND CURVES AND TAKE OFFS.
I HAD A WATER PUMP FAILURE, CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. A FLATBED TRUCK CAME TO PICK IT UP. AFTER THREE WEEKS IN THE DEALER THEY CALLED ME IT WAS READY FOR PICK UP. I WENT THERE, INSPECTED THE WORK ALL WAS DONE CORRECTLY. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP MY KEYS, THEY TOLD ME THAT DODGE DOES NOT INCLUDE THE "LIQUIDS" AND THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE COOLANT USED, $29.98 THEY CHARGED ME. I WENT TO TALK TO THE MANAGER AND ASKED HIM AND HE SAID THAT DODGE DOES NOT COVER FOR ANY LIQUIDS, IF YOU MAKE AN ENGINE REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY, CUSTOMER PAYS FOR THE OIL AND FILTER, IF A REPAIR IS DONE ON THE AXLE, CUSTOMER HAD TO PAY FOR THE AXLE FLUID, IT IS INCREDIBLE!! GM INCLUDES EVERYTHING. MY TRUCK IS A 2014, BUT ONLY HAS 30K MILES ON IT, FIRST THIS IS NOT SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN AT THIS LOW MILLAGE, AND SECOND IF THE DEALER IS GOING TO DO THE JOB, AFTER HAVING THE TRUCK SITTING IN THEIR YARD FOR THREE WEEKS, THE LEAST YOU COULD DO IS INCLUDE THE COOLANT. DON'T YOU THINK. HOW DOES THE GOVERNMENT ALLOWS THIS? THERE SHOULD BE A LAW PROTECTING THE CUSTOMER FROM THIS KIND OF RIP OFFS. ALMOST THIRTY DOLLAR FOR COOLANT IT IS OUTRAGEOUS.
ENGINE KEEPS STALLING RANDOMLY COMING TO A STOP OR IDLING DURING TIMES, WANTS TO TURN OFF WHILE PUTTING IN REVERSE, HAVE HAD A NEW BATTERY PUT IN AND ALTERNATOR HAS CHECKED OUT GOOD THROUGH DODGE THEMSELVES. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLACE ALL OF THE BOLTS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.

ENGINE TROUBLE: TOP END DAMAGE TO LIFTERS/CAMSHAFT. I REPLACED THE ENTIRE ENGINE
IN 3 YEARS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE INDICATOR HAVE CAME ON AT LEAST 14 TIMES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE TRUCK GOES INTO LIMP MODE AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. EACH TIME THE DEALERSHIPS WHO REPRESENT RAM PRODUCTS HAVE PERFORMED DIFFERENT WORK AND SAID IT WAS FIXED. THEY HAVE FLASHED THE SOFTWARE, CHANGED TURBO PRESSURE SWITCH, PERFORMED MANUAL REGEN ON EXHAUST SYSTEM, CHANGED AIR FILTER, CHANGED THE TURBO TWICE, CHANGED THE FUEL FILTERS, TIGHTENED HOSES AND NOTHING STOPS THE PROBLEM FROM RETURNING. I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS AND IS HAPPENING ON THOUSANDS OF RAM 1500 ECODIESEL PICKUPS. UNTIL NOW IT WAS JUST AN INCONVIENANCE BUT THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS TURNING ONTO A HIGHWAY WHEN IT WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND ALMOST GOT RAN OVER BY A LOGGING TRUCK. HAD THE LOG TRUCK BEEN LOADED WITH LOGS I PROBABLY WOULD BE DEAD BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY HE COULD HAVE AVOIDED A COLLISION IF HE WERE LOADED. I TOOK THE TRUCK STRAIGHT TO A RAM DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE HAD IT FOR OVER A MONTH TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL FOR CHRYSLER TO SELL $50,000.00 TRUCKS THAT CAN'T BE FIXED AND ARE GOING TO GET PEOPLE KILLED.
CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE ENGINE FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. IT THREW A ROD THROUGH THE ENGINE BLOCK RESULTING INSTANT LOSS OF POWER. HOT OIL BEING BLOWN OUT OF THE HOLE AND ALL OVER THE ENGINE AND ONTO THE TURBO AND EXHAUST, RESULTED IN A UNDER-HOOD FIRE.
ENGINE MAKING TICKING NOISE AT AROUND 22000 MILES ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. ASKED THE DEALERSHIP WHAT THE NOISE COULD BE IN DAY REPLY BACK SAYING THAT IT'S JUST THE HEMI ENGINE NOISE AND IT'S NORMAL. I'VE CAME BACK A FEW TIMES AND MENTION THE NOISE AGAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THAT IT WAS GETTING LOUDER AND LONGER LASTING AT COLD STARTS THEY INFORMED ME IT WAS STILL NORMAL HEMI NOISES. I'VE RESEARCHED AND LOOKED INTO IT AND FOUND IT TO BE AN EXHAUST ISSUE ON THE MANIFOLD DUE TO THE STUDS BREAKING AND SPOKE TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS A COMMON DEFECT AND THEY INFORMED ME IT WOULD BE OVER $1,000 REPAIR AND WAS NOT COVERED DO TO MY TRUCK COMING FROM CANADA AND ALL MY WARRANTY WAS VOIDED I'VE COMPLAINED SEVERAL SEVERAL TIMES TO SEE WHAT COULD BE DONE UNDER THE FEDERAL MANDATED WARRANTY AND THEY SAID NOTHING AND THE TRUCK CURRENTLY HAS 47,000 MILES AND THE NOISE IS GETTING WORSE BY THE DAY. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2010 2011 WITH THE HEMI ENGINES AND MANUFACTURER WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT REPAIRING OR CORRECTING THE ISSUES! A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED ON THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS! I HAVE CALLED THE WARRANTY DEPARTMENT, CHRYSLER THEMSELVES RECALL DEPARTMENT AND NO ONE WILL DO ANYTHING TO HELP AND PRETTY MUCH TELL ME I'M OUT OF LUCK!
TIPM...TRUCK WAS MOBILE AT NIGHT IN RAIN WHEN IT DIED AND COASTED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD...DENSE OBNOXIOUS SMOKE POURED FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND INTO CAB WHERE MY GRANDCHILD WERE ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY IT CAUSING SERIOUS BREATHING PROBLEMS AND COUGHING. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE A DEMAND OF 1500 BUCKS UP FRONT TO EVEN LOOK AT THIS TRUCK.. EVENTUALLY I HAD WRECKER BRING IT FROM DEALERSHIP HOME WHERE IS SITS ON RAMPS IN THE BACK YARD. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BY CHRYSLER TO ADDRESS THESE PROBLEMS. ACCORDING TO CODES FROM OBD-II SUGGEST THE POTENTIAL OF AIRBAGS EXPLODING WITHOUT WARNING AT ANY TIME...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, SMOKE AND FLAMES APPEARED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE FLAMES WERE EXTINGUISHED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CAPITOL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (3201 MISSOURI BLVD, JEFFERSON CITY, MO 65109, (573) 893-5000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SYSTEM FAILED, AND THE WIRING HARNESS AND INTAKE AND EXHAUST MANIFOLDS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
MY TRUCK HAS STARTED RUNNING ROUGH WITHOUT ANY POWER AND NOTICING A TICKINGKOCKING NOISE WITHIN THE PAST WEEK SO I STARTED LOOKING INTO IT AS I'VE ALWAYS CHANGED MY OIL BETWEEN 5-10K FULL SYNTHETIC 5W20 AND ALWAYS RAN GOOD FUEL AT LEAST 89-93 BC I HAVE 142K ON IT. I'VE NOTICED THE TICKING NOISE AROUND 75 AND THOUGHT MAYBE SLIGHT EXHAUST LEAK FROM THE WELDS BUT AS I START READING ON INTERNET IT'S BEEN A PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER ON ALL THESE HEMI ENGINES FOR QUITE A FEW YEARS NOW AND I THINK IT'S BS THAT I'M HAVING TO PAY TO FIX SOMETHING THAT OBVIOUSLY BEEN A PROBLEM FOR VEHICLES WITH WELL UNDER THE MILEAGE I HAVE AS WELL. THE WIFE HAS A CHEVY WITH OVER 200K THAT RUBS LIKE A TOP AND SHE NEVER CHANGED THE OIL BEFORE WE GOT TOGETHER, IN FACT IT WAS SLUDGE WHEN I DID THE FIRST OIL CHANGE AND IT DOESN'T TICK NOCK OR HESITATE ONE BIT. I HOPE SOMEONE WILL STEP UP AND HELP PPL OUT WITH THEIR MISTAKES AND MAKE IT RIGHT BC I'M OUT OF A VEHICLE I STILL OWE ON AND CAN'T EVEN GET TO WORK BC GUESS WHAT I DRIVE FOR WORK. BUMMER I KNOW BUT NOT IF Y'ALL WOULD FIX PROBLEMS WHEN THE ARISE!!!!
5.7L HEMI LIFT/CAN FAILURE!!!!! I AM A RAM OWNER AND HAVE HAD SOME TROUBLE WITH MY 2014 RAM 1500 AT AROUND 135,000 MILES MY ENGINE STARTED TO TAP IN A RITHUM AND WAS GETTING LOUDER BY THE DAY. DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT A LOT OF FOLKS ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH LIFTER COLLAPSING AND DESTROYING THE CAM. TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD EXACTLY WHAT I HAD READ ABOUT A LOT OF FOLKS SAYING THEY HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THERE HEMI. NOT ONLY IN THE RAM MODELS BUT JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE MODELS AND CHALLENGERS AS WELL EQUIPPED WITH THE HEMI ENGINE AS WELL. THIS REPAIR COST ROUGHLY 3500.00 OR MORE TO HAVE REPAIRED. AND CHRYSLER SHOULD HELP COVER THE COST ON REPAIRS. I AM VERY UPSET WITH CHRYSLER PRODUCTS AND AT THIS TIME MAY NEVER OWN ANOTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT.
MAJOR OIL LEAK STARTED AT JUST UNDER 100K MILES ON THE TRUCK. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE FOR KNOWN ISSUES, WITCH I FOUND ONE ON CHRYSLER 3.6 MOTORS YEAR MODEL 2014 WITCH WAS OILCOOLER/HOUSING CRACKING. THIS IS THE ENGINE MY TRUCK HAS AS WELL. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED THE TRUCK OVER THIS WAS THE EXACT ISSUE WITH THE TRUCK. THE OIL LEAK IS LOCATED ON TOP OF THE ENGINE BETWEEN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND ENGINE BLOCK AND RUNS DOWN BACK OF ENGINE TO BOTTOM OF TRUCK. WITH THE AMOUNT OF ISSUES I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND IN A MATTER OF MINUTES OF SEARCHING AND AFTER BEING TOLD THAT THAT PART HAD BEEN REDESIGNED BY THE DEALERSHIP I THINK THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO.

MY RAM 1500 WILL H THE 5.7 HEMINGWAY V8 HA AN EXAUST LEAK AT THE EXAUST MANIFOLD APPARENTLY DUE TO A BROKEN MANIFOLD MOUNTING BOLT. IT MAKES A TICKING NOISE WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD AND THEN SUBSIDES WHEN WARMED UP. I WAS CONCERNED THAT CARBON MONOXIDE MAY BE TAKEN IN BY THE CABIN VENTILATION SYSTEM AND EXPOSE THE OCCUPANTS TO THIS GAS. RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET REVEALS MANY PEOPL HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE BEEN TOLD BY RAM DEALERS THAT A SAFETY RECALL WOULD BE FORCE HCOMMING.

WAS DRIVING TRUCK IN AN EMPTY LOT AFTER A SNOW STORM WITH LOTS OF ICE. HAD TRACTION CONTROL OFF AND TRUCK FISHTAILED AROUND A CORNER AND ENGINE STALLED. LIGHTS IN INTERIOR WERE ON AND DASH ADVISED TO SHIFT INTO PARK TO START. NO KNOCKING OR STRANGE NOISES PRIOR, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AFTER OR BEFORE. RPMS WERE BELOW 3000 WHEN ENGINE STALLED. THE ENGINE OIL COOLER ON THE PENTASTAR 3.6L V-6 ENGINE CRACKED CAUSING OIL TO LEAK ONTO OTHER ENGINE PARTS AND THE GROUND. I NOTICED THE OIL LEAKING AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 4 MILES. THIS COULD EASILY START A FIRE OR CAUSE AN ENGINE TO SEIZE. *TR
MY TRUCK HAS AN EXHAUST LEAK THAT ALLOWS RAW DIESEL FUMES TO BE DRAWN INTO THE VEHICLE'S HVAC SYSTEM. WHEN THE TRUCK IS STATIONARY AND THE ENGINE IS IDLING, DIESEL EXHAUST FUMES CAN BE EASILY DETECTED IN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. BECAUSE THIS TRUCK IS EQUIPPED WITH SCR, DEF, AND DPF SYSTEMS, YOU SHOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO SMELL RAW DIESEL EXHAUST WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. HOWEVER, WHEN THE TRUCK IS STATIONARY, YOU CAN SMELL RAW DIESEL EXHAUST IN THE CAB AND WHEN STANDING OUTSIDE THE TRUCK. I BELIEVE THE LEAK IS COMING FROM THE EXHAUST ELBOW, JUST DOWN STREAM FROM THE TURBO ASSEMBLY. THIS IS A KNOWN WEAK POINT IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AS MANY RAM ECODIESEL OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME LEAK AND SYMPTOMS.
ENGINE BLEW UP WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 65 MI/H. LOST OF POWER. ECODIESEL MOTOR
CATASTROPHIC EXHAUST GAS RECORD VALVE (EGR) AND EGR COOLER FAILURES WHICH RESULTED IN PLASTIC INTAKE MANIFOLD FAILURE. EGR COOLER SEVERELY PLUGGED WITH SOOT/CARBON WELL BELOW MILEAGE PERIOD OF FEDERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY. NO SPECIFIED SERVICE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS EGR SYSTEM. DAMAGE RESULTED IN SUBSTANTIAL LOSS OF POWER, UNABLE TO MAINTAIN MINIMUM SPEED ON INTERSTATE 85 WHEN INTAKE MANIFOLD FAILURE OCCURRED. VISIBLE BLACK SMOKE/SOOT WAS BEING EMITTED FROM EXHAUST UNDER ACCELERATION DURING THIS FAILURE, CLEARLY NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH EMISSIONS STANDARDS.

OIL FILLER HOUSING.. MY OIL FILLER HOUSING CRACKED AND CAUSED A MAJOR OIL LEAK AND CAUSED OIL TO COVER EVERYTHING ON MY ENGINE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO BE SERVIFED AND WAS TOLD IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM BUT ISN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE AMOUNT OF OIL THAT LEAKED EVERYWHERE COULD HAVE CAUSE A MAJOR FIRE.
ON FEBRUARY 23 MY RAM 1500 ECO DIESEL HAD A CATASTROPHIC BOTTOM END ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING ON THE PARKWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEED, BREAKING THE CRANKSHAFT AND SENDING A CONNECTING ROD THROUGH THE ENGINE BLOCK SPILLING ENGINE OIL ONTO THE ROAD AND ONTO THE TIRES. WHEN I CHECKED THE RAM1500.COM DIESEL FORUM THERE ARE MANY MORE PEOPLE THAT HAD A SIMILAR FAILURE ON TRUCKS WITH LESS MILEAGE THAN MINE. I'M HOPING TO FIND OUT HOW MANY 1500 ECO DIESELS WERE SOLD AND HOW MANY HAVE HAD A ENGINE FAILURE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *TR
THE ENGINE, A 5.7-LITER V8, SHUTS DOWN INTERMITTENTLY, USUALLY WHEN COMING TO A STOP ON CITY STREETS. THIS HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 25 TO 30 TIMES SINCE THE VEHICLE HAD JUST A FEW HUNDRED MILES, TO TODAY AT APPROXIMATELY 35,000 MILES. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. OFTEN I AM NOT AWARE THE ENGINE HAS SHUT DOWN, AS POWERED ITEMS SUCH AS THE RADIO CONTINUE TO OPERATE NORMALLY. I BECOME AWARE OF THE ISSUE ONLY WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE AND THERE IS NO RESPONSE AND I THEN NOTICE A FLASHING LIGHT NEXT TO THE "D" ON THE GEAR SELECTOR KNOB. ALTHOUGH THIS ISSUE HAS LARGELY BEEN JUST AN ANNOYANCE, SINCE IT USUALLY OCCURS AT STOP SIGNS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS, THERE WAS ONE INSTANCE WHEN IT OCCURRED AT HIGH SPEED ON A FREEWAY AS I WAS PREPARING TO EXIT. THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AS I WAS DRIVING IN THE FAR-RIGHT LANE, CAUSING A SUDDEN LOSS OF SPEED IN FRONT OF A BIG RIG, WHICH HAD NO WARNING BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A DELIBERATE ACTION AND MY BRAKE LIGHTS HADN'T BEEN ACTIVATED. I WAS CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE OFF-RAMP TO COAST OFF THE FREEWAY, BUT THE BIG RIG CAME DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO REAR-ENDING MY VEHICLE. IT IS THIS INCIDENT, MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE, THAT PROMPTED ME TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT, SINCE IT WAS NOT ONLY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, BUT THE PROBLEM THAT LED TO IT WILL LIKELY PERSIST BECAUSE THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY IDENTIFIED REPAIR OR CORRECTIVE ACTION I CAN TAKE.
I FOUND OUT ABOUT A RECALL BY FCA THAT MY 2014 DODGE RAM ECODIESEL HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE EXHAUST DAMPENER. THIS IS AFTER I STARTED RESEARCHING THE SMELL OF EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CAN WHEN USING THE VEHICLES HEAT. I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRED. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT FCA IS ONLY SENDING THE REPAIR PARTS IN BATCHES AND CANNOT BE ORDERED DIRECTLY FROM FCA. THIS MEANS I MUST WAIT UNTIL THEY ARE IN-STOCK AT THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE PROBLEM REPAIRED. I CONTACTED RAM CUSTOMER SERVICE. RAM CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED THAT THE PART SHIPPING ISSUE IS KNOWN BUT THE 'SMELL' IS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE. I TOLD THEM THAT THE SMELL OF EXHAUST IS DISTINCT AND OBVIOUS. THEY STILL ARGUED THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AS THEIR OWN TESTS DEMONSTRATE THAT THE LEVELS OF EXHAUST DO NOT POSE A SAFETY THREAT--THEY WOULD NOT RESPOND WHEN I STATED IT IS A HEALTH THREAT. AT THIS TIME I STILL CANNOT GET THIS EXHAUST FUME PROBLEM FIXED UNDER FCA'S OWN RECALL SINCE FCA HAS MADE THE REPAIR PARTS AVAILABILITY LIMITED SINCE FCA ONLY SHIPS THE PARTS IN BATCHES NOT BASED ON THE NEED OF THE CUSTOMERS. THE EXHAUST FUMES HAVE CAUSED ME TWO MIGRAINES AND SEVERAL NORMAL HEADACHES WHEN USING THE HEAT ON LONG DRIVES (DISTANCES OVER 30 MILES OR DRIVING TIMES OVER ONE HOUR). THE FCA RECALL IS 'R04'.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 80 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL ODOR OF RUBBER AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE @ 39,000 KM. ENGINE REPLACED BY FCC. CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AGAIN @ 58,000 KM LESS THAN 20,000 KM SINCE ORIGINAL ENGINE REPLACED. BOTH TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE MEASURES TO GET OFF HIGHWAY SAFELY.
YOU WILL BE DRIVING UP AN INCLINE, NOT A STEEP ON . THE ENGINE STARTS MISSING LIKE IT NEEDS A TUNE UP. IT'A NOTICEABLE MISS. WE HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE DASH SCREEN. THE SCREEN IN THE MIDDLE THAT TELLS YOU YOUR MILEAGE. IT WILL START GOING IN AND OUT. MOSTLY, IT BLACKS OUT. WE HAVE MENTIONED THIS TO DODGE GARAGE AND THEY TWEEKED THE SCREEN BUT, IT STILL DOES IT, THEY ALSO, TWEEKED THE ENGINE. THEYN STILL DO THE SAME THING. I,M WORRIED THAT WE'LL BE GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE TRUCK WILL SUDDENLY STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.
OIL LEAKS AT THE FILTER. FILTER HAS BEEN UPGRADED AND NOW A YEAR LATER IS STILL LEAKING. DEALERSHIP IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS CHANGED THE OIL. IT IS DUE TO GO BACK IN TOMORROW, THURSDAY JULY,30TH.
THERE IS A VERY STRONG DIESEL EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. THIS IS SO STRONG MY WIFE IS UNABLE TO RIDE IN THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE NAUSEA IT CAUSES HER. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. EVERYONE THAT HAS RIDDEN IN MY TRUCK, EXCEPT ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH THE DODGE DEALER I HAVE TAKEN IT TO FOR REPAIR, ASKS WHAT IS CAUSING THE SMELL. THE DODGE DEALER SAYS THEY CAN NOT SMELL ANYTHING. FROM RESEARCHING THIS ON THE INTERNET I KNOW NUMEROUS OTHER OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND CONCERNS. DODGE SEEMS UNWILLING TO WORK WITH ME AND I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO CHECK OUT MY CONCERNS AND SEE IF IT WARRANTS AN OFFICIAL RECALL. THIS IS ON THE NEW 3.0L ECO-DIESEL ENGINE. *TR
AFTER PULLING INTO MY DRIVE WAY WITH MY ADULT SON IN THE PASSENGER SEAT I WAS ROLLING UP TO THE GARAGE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL SLOWING DOWN THE TRUCK. I STOPPED THE TRUCK COMPLETELY, BY PUSHING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL HARDER, ABOUT 5 FEET FROM THE HOUSE. I REACHED DOWN TO ROTATE THE SHIFT DIAL TO PARK, "P". AFTER TURNING TO "P" THE TRUCK ENGINE STARTED REVVING AND THE TRUCK LURCHED FORWARD, AFTER INITIALLY BEING STARTLED I LOOKED DOWN AND SAW THE SHIFT DIAL WAS AT "P" AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL REVVING. THE TRUCK THEN STRUCK THE CORNER OF THE HOUSE WHILE I WAS ALMOST STANDING UP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TRYING TO GET IT TO STOP. I TURNED THE SHIFT DIAL TO REVERSE AND BACK TO PARK AND THE TRUCK STOPPED REVVING AND MOVING. THEN I BACKED AWAY FROM THE HOUSE. BEING A RETIRED POLICE DETECTIVE THE FIRST THING I DID WAS TO CHECK TO SEE IF THE FACTORY FLOOR MAT HAD DISLODGED AND JAMMED INTO THE PEDALS BUT IT WAS PROPERLY HOOKED IN PLACE. AFTER GETTING THE TRUCKS BODY DAMAGE REPAIRED I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER BUT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCK. I DID NOTICE THAT WHEN I PICKED THE TRUCK UP FROM THE DEALER THERE WAS A CLICKING SOUND UNDER THE DASH WHEN I ROTATED THE SHIFT DIAL FROM "R" TO "P" THAT I DO NOT RECALL HEARING BEFORE. NO CLICKING IS HEARD WHEN CHANGING BETWEEN ANY OTHER GEARS.
TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY FEEDER ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 4:45 PM AT APPROXIMATELY 30-35 MPH. PREPARED TO COME TO A STOP AT AN APPROACHING INTERSECTION CONTROLLED BY 3 WAY STOP SIGNS. AS I BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN THE TRUCK STALLED OUT. THE LIGHT OVER THE D ON THE GEAR SELECTOR WAS FLASHING AND THE DASH PANEL INDICATED THAT I SHOULD SHIFT INTO PARK AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. I COASTED TO A SAFE STOP, APPLIED THE BRAKE AND SHIFTED TO STOP AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. I REMAINED ON THE FEEDER AND THE TRUCK REPEATED THE INCIDENT AT THE VERY NEXT INTERSECTION. I GOT THE TRUCK RUNNING AGAIN AND PULLED INTO A GAS STATION AND CALLED THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP AND TALKED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHO SAID THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING. THIS SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED THREE WEEKS AGO BUT WE THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE. WEATHER WAS AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. RAINY AND 43 DEGREES. HAD THE HEATER RUNNING, THE SEAT AND STEERING WHEEL HEATER ON. TURNED THEM ALL OFF CONCERNED THAT THEY MIGHT BE PART OF THE CAUSE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL ODOR COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON A DAILY BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST PIPE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
INITIALLY, THE VEHICLE HAD AN ABNORMALLY STRONG NEW CAR SMELL. (THE SMELL HAS NOW BEEN WIDELY REPORTED ON INTERNET FORUMS BY OTHER OWNERS.) I THOUGHT THIS WOULD DISSIPATE OVER TIME. THE SMELL WAS SO STRONG THAT I HAD TO LEAVE THE WINDOWS OPEN WHILE DRIVING DUE TO A NAUSEATING ODOR. AFTER SITTING IN THE VEHICLE, OCCUPANTS COULD ACTUALLY TASTE SOME TYPE OF RESIDUE. IN ADDITION, A FOUL ODOR CAME FROM THE HEATING SYSTEM, ESPECIALLY AT IDLE. AFTER TWO MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, AND FRUSTRATION, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP (ALTHOUGH I HAD MENTIONED THE STRONG ODOR BEFORE DURING A FOLLOW-UP CALL). THE DEALERSHIP FLUSHED THE COOLING SYSTEM AND REPLACED THE HOSES BECAUSE OF A TECHNICAL SERVICE DOCUMENT. THE DOCUMENT STATED THERE WAS A CHEMICAL REACTION BETWEEN A NEW TYPE OF COOLANT AND THE INTERIOR LINING OF COOLANT HOSES. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS PROCEDURE DID NOT ELIMINATE THE FOUL SMELL EXPERIENCED WHILE DRIVING. I NOTICED THE ODOR WAS STRONGEST ONCE THE ENGINE WARMED, SO IT TOOK LONGER TO SURFACE DURING COLD TEMPERATURES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID I SHOULD CALL THE MANUFACTURER. MY INITIAL CALL WAS PLACED OVER A MONTH AGO. AN ADDITIONAL COOLANT SYSTEM FLUSH WAS PERFORMED, BUT YIELDED NO RESULTS. I HAVE BEEN SENT TO DIFFERENT DIVISIONS WITHIN CHRYSLER, AND HAVE MOSTLY EXPERIENCED FRUSTRATING DELAYS AND INACCURATE DATA ENTRY. I'VE VISITED THE DEALERSHIP A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES, AND SPENT HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THE ODOR IS BEING PULLED IN FROM THE ENGINE BAY. THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE THE ODOR IS AS SOME TYPE OF CHEMICAL FINISH OR RESIDUE ENTERING THE CABIN. MY VEHICLE IS FOR FAMILY USE. I FEEL EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE ACTUAL ODOR AND POTENTIAL HEALTH RISKS. *TR
DECEMBER 16, 2014 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS O2 SENSOR. THEY RESET IT AND TOLD ME TO BLOW 3.0 DIESEL ENGINE OUT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AS WELL AS A MESSAGE THAT DEF FLUID WAS WRONG. I CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAID BRING IT BACK IN. DEALER CALLED ME BACK AND SAID I NEEDED NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER BUT IT WAS ON BACK ORDER AND THEY COULDN'T GIVE ME A DATE. DEALER TOLD ME TRUCK WAS OK TO DRIVE. DECEMBER 24, 2014 A WARNING MESSAGE CAME UP ON TRUCK THAT SAID TRUCK WOULD CUT OFF IN 190 MILES AND WOULD NOT RE START. DEALER NOW HAS TRUCK AND STILL CAN'T GIVE ME A DATE ON WHEN IT WILL BE FIXED. THEY DID TELL ME THAT THERE WERE 82 OTHER TRUCKS IN THE SYSTEM LIKE MINE. THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE 3.0 ECODIESEL ENGINE AND CHRYSLER HAS NO FIX OR WON'T TELL ANYONE WHAT IS HAPPENING. *TR
TRUCK STALLED SO FAR 2 TIMES, ONCE AT A LIGHT SECOND TIME GOING AROUND A CORNER. AFTER THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT THE TRUCK AND SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND TO BRING IT BACK IN IF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN. I ALSO HAVE NOTICED A PROPANE SMELL. ONLY 6100 MILES ON THE TRUCK. AUTOZONE RAN A COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC AND IT SHOWED THAT THE 7TH CYLINDER WAS MISS FIRING. *TR
I NOTICED THAT WHEN I STARTED MY TRUCK AFTER IT HAD BEEN COLD FOR A WHILE THAT BLUE/WHITE SMOKE WOULD BRIEFLY COME OUT OF THE TAILPIPE. I NOTICED IT SEVERAL TIMES AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. IT STILL DID IT INTERMITTENTLY. I THEN NOTICED THAT MY OIL LEVEL WAS LOW, AND THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR WENT OUT. I HAD THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AND ADDED OIL. BASED ON THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, SMOKE, AND OIL PRESSURE SENSOR GOING BAD, I THINK THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ENGINE. ALL MY PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN OIL RELATED! *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 25 TO 30 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED. THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THE SAME DAY. IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AT RANDOM UP UNTIL THE PRESENT USUALLY WHEN COASTING OR TURNING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT 2,307 MILES AND CODES P0171 AND P0174 WERE FOUND AND BOTH OXYGEN SENSORS WERE REPLACED. THREE DAYS AFTER REPAIR TRUCK CONTINUES TO STALL. HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE FIVE TIMES AND NO OTHER REPAIRS MADE BECAUSE THEY SAY THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NOT COME ON AGAIN. INVOICE SHOWS THAT THERE IS A STORED CODE, P0884, BUT SINCE IT IS NOT ACTIVE THEY WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED OR PAID TO REPAIR THE TRUCK. THE DESCRIPTION OF THIS STORED CODE IS EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING THAT THE TRUCK DOES, STALLS WHEN TURNING OR COASTING AT A SPEED OF 20-30 MPH. I GUESS MONEY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN CUSTOMER SAFETY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED AND THE VEHICLE JERKED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND FUNCTIONED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, WHO REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE CYLINDER HEAD AND INTAKE VALVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,800. ..UPDATED 10/15/14 *BF UPDATED 10/21/14 UPDATED 11/05/14
MY 2014 DODGE RAM HEMI TRUCK IS LIKE THE MOTOR IS JUST STALLING OUT IT LOOSES ALL POWER AND SLOWS DOWN. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RESTART THE MOTOR IT WILL JUST AUTOMATICALLY START RUNNING. THE TRUCK HAS DONE THIS ON ME SEVERAL TIMES AT LOW SPEED BUT FRI I WAS GETTING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND WAS MOVING PRETTY FAST WHEN IT WAS JUST LIKE THE TRUCK HAD STALLED OUT IT WAS A GOOD THING THAT I STILL HAD THE ENTRANCE LANE TO SWING BACK IN AS A BIG TRUCK WENT BY. WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS PEDDLE IT WAS JUST LIKE IT HAD STARTED BACK. IT DID THIS ON ME 4 MORE TIMES WHILE ON MY WAY TO AND FROM WHERE I WAS GOING. I CALLED THE PLACE WHERE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK AND TRIED TO GET THEM TO LET ME STOP BY AND CHECK THE TRUCK BECAUSE I WAS ONLY ABOUT 5 MILES AWAY AND THE SERVICE MAN TOLD ME THEY WERE TO BUSY THAT HE HAD NO ONE TO CHECK IT OUT THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO SET ME UP AN APPOINTMENT WHICH HE DID FOR THIS COMING FRIDAY A WEEK FROM THE DAY THIS HAPPENED. WHEN IT STALLED WHEN I WAS GETTING ON THE EXPRESSWAY THIS REALLY SCARED ME WHEN I HAD TO SWING BACK INTO THE ENTRANCE LANE AS THE TRACTOR TRAILER WENT BY. TO ME THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CHECKED IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE A RECALL NOTIFICATION ON THE RADIO FREQUENCY WHICH I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT([XXX]) AN HE SAID HE DIDN'T THINK THIS WOULD CAUSE MY PROBLEM. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
HORRIBLE ODOR IN THE CAB, WHICH CAUSED MY WIFE, MY TWO TEENAGE DAUGHTERS, AND MYSELF TO ALL HAVE AT LEAST ONE FORM OF THE FOLLOWING, VOMITING, NAUSEA, HEADACHE, BURNING EYES AND THROAT. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO THE MANUFACTURER, AS THERE IS SOMETHING CALLED A STAR CASE. I CAN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME, AS I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS ODOR CAN CAUSE A PERMANENT HEALTH PROBLEM, NOT TO MENTION IT IS BIZARRE THAT A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WOULD HAVE A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. *TR
VEHICLE IS A 4X4 RAM 1500 EXPRESS WITH 5.7 HEMI AND 8-SPEED TRANSMISSION. I PURCHASED IT NEW. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED AT AROUND 200 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, ON THE THIRD DAY AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IT STALLED WHEN APPROACHING A STOP SIGN NEAR MY HOME. IT DID NOT RESTART AND RUN WELL IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER, BUT AFTER 3 TRIES I WAS ABLE TO KEEP IT RUNNING AND AFTER THAT IT BEGAN TO RUN SMOOTHLY FOR THE REMAINING SHORT DISTANCE TO MY HOME. I WAS WORRIED THAT IT MAY BE A LOOSE GAS CAP, SO I REMOVED THE CAP AND RE-INSTALLED IT. THEN LESS THAN A WEEK LATER, THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS DURING THE SAME OUTING. FIRST TIME WAS IN A PARKING LOT, AND THE SECOND TIME WAS IN A BUSY INTERSECTION. IN EACH CASE, I WAS ABLE TO RE-FIRE AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE DID THE SAME THING AGAIN TWICE YESTERDAY. TODAY THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN NEAR MY HOME. EVERY STALL HAS BEEN WHEN SLOWING TO STOP OR TO MAKE A TURN. I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH MY FAMILY RIDING IN A VEHICLE THAT STALLS UNEXPECTEDLY. IT IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND HAVE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON THIS FRIDAY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ILLUMINATED, AND THE DEALER HAS ALREADY INDICATED DURING A PHONE CONVERSATION THAT IT WILL BE DIFFICULT TO DO MUCH IF THERE ARE NO OBD CODES TO READ. I HAVE CONTACTED OTHER DEALERS TO INQUIRE IF OTHER CUSTOMERS MAY BE HAVING A SIMILAR SITUATION. NONE HAVE HEARD OF THIS ISSUE IN THIS MODEL YEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE HE NOTICED A CHEMICAL ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE THAT LATER BECAME STRONGER. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT HE AND ANOTHER PASSENGER SUFFERED FROM DIZZINESS, NAUSEA AND VOMITING FROM THE ODOR. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BECAUSE OF THE DEFECT. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT EMPLOYEES AT THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE DEFECT WAS PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE AND INDICATED THAT THE REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE ORDERED TO CORRECT THE DEFECT. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INFORMED WHAT PARTS WOULD BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1000.
THERE IS A FAINT PROPANE-LIKE SMELL COMING THROUGH THE AIR VENTS WHEN TRUCK IS AT IDLE. *TR
THERE IS A NASTY PROPANE SMELL COMING FROM THE TRUCK, I HAVE NOTICED THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE 2013 DODGE RAM 1500. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE ANTIFREEZE THAT IS BEING USED AND IS CAUSING A CHEMICAL REACTION WITH THE RUBBER HOSES. SYSTEM HAS TO BE FLUSHED AND NEW ANTIFREEZE ADDED AND ALL RUBBER HOSES REPLACED. *TR
