AIR BAGS
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and 2014-2016 Ram 3500 vehicles. Certain driving conditions, such as driving off-road or debris striking the vehicle may cause the roll rate sensor to trigger a fault within the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). If this fault occurs, the rollover side curtain air bag and the seat belt pretensioner will be disabled from deploying.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the ORC software, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T25.
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 trucks manufactured January 18, 2011, to October 7, 2014, and equipped with the Electronic Vehicle Information Center option. The affected vehicles have a steering wheel wiring harness that may rub against the driver air bag module retainer spring.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect, repair as necessary, and secure the steering wheel wiring harness. Additionally, protective caps will be added to the air bag retainer spring ends. These repairs will be done free of charge. The recall began on September 18, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R36.
AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ram 1500 Quad Cab trucks manufactured August 26, 2013, to August 8, 2015. The affected vehicles are equipped with side air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) that may not fully overlap the C-pillars in the event of a vehicle crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, dealers will inspect the right and left side air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) for proper orientation and a foil patch will be installed on both sides of the headliner. One or both of the air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) will be replaced if necessary. The recall began on October 7, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R47.

Your fuel tank is held up by a strap attached to a bracket on the frame, but that bracket has corroded and rusted away, so the strap no longer connects securely. If the tank falls while you're driving, fuel could spill and create a fire hazard. Your mechanic recommends using a temporary ratchet strap to keep the tank in place while you drive with less fuel, but the permanent fix will require dropping the tank and either welding new brackets to your frame or replacing the corroded bracket entirely.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with an unknown air bag failure, and the air bag needed to be replaced; however, the part to repair the vehicle was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
I bought the truck from a private owner and now my abs light and brake light is on.
My vehicles steering wheel wiring harness rubbed against the driver air bag module retainer spring causing it to break and now the parts need to be replaced. This was a validated recall on other models but for some reason it is not appearing under my VIN. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 15V459000 My vehicle is currently scheduled to get repaired by my mechanic but I believe this should be reimbursed as it was a reported recall on extremely similar models.
Side and front collision - no airbag deployment
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while attempting to honk the horn, the contact became aware that the controls behind the steering wheel were inoperable. The service air bag systems warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who informed the contact to contact the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
The contact owned a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH the vehicle crashed into a cement wall. During the crash, the vehicle sustained severe front-end damage and was destroyed. The contact indicated that no air bags in the vehicle deployed during the crash. The driver sustained neck, back, left shoulder, and hip injuries which later required medical treatment. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 139,000.
The Airbags did not deploy in head on collision at a speed of over 30 mph. No warring lights were present at the time of the accident. The vehicle was totaled by the insurance adjuster and the police were on scene after the accident happened.
Airbags did not deploy whatsoever. Truck is totalled so no repairs have been made. Was Towed to our house. It has not been inspected by any dealer, only police on scene. It is available any time for inspection. I also have photos.
ALL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING MAJOR COLLISION! FAULTY AIRBAGS I was driving in the dark on Tuesday evening 11-16-2021 in the 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 truck. At around 6:00pm I was going through a right hand corner in a mountain area that had free range cattle. Over the mountains heading back home the day turned to night. Coming around a right sweepingcorner going around 45-48 mph out of nowhere the unthinkable happened…. A familiar face suddenly appeared in the dark. A cow, rather a huge bull in the middle of the highway! It all happened so fast… Head on collision My reaction was an evasive maneuver steering wheel crank left. If I had not reacted like stated above, crash should have killed me. This move I believe is what saved my life because it offset the contact more to the passenger side. He hit head on yes but now glanced off to my right which kept the rear of the truck from coming around. His massive weight saved me from rolling… The damage to front and passenger side is major The air bags should have deployed . They did not. My insurance confirmed in claim that the air bags did not deploy I filed with them at the time of the accident. The Deputy Sheriff inspected the vehicle and also noted in the police report that the airbags did not deploy. There were no warning lights that indicated any problems at all.
My 2014 Ram 1500 Express Cab, Black, standards features. 2x4 wheel base. About 9am Oct. 4, 2021. I was at T intersection to turn left with light traffic. I had two red arrow left lane turn. When blindsided by distracted driver in 2014 4 Dr. BMW sedan by striking a center island mount cause the vehicle to jump 4 feet. Struck my driver side quarterpanel to driver door at 50 to 80 mph. Send both across the intersection to opposite curve. I was up right and BMW was laying on dirver side. My curtain and airbag never deployed at all. No fire since inline fuses were cut off power to engine I was pinned in my driver side. Mechanical seats was my savior allowed me to roll seat back so after door was cut off. The airbag was never deploy at all and would protect me from cuts and bruises at distracted driver speeds.
MY CHECK AIR BAG SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD TURNS ON RANDOMLY. I HAD THIS ISSUE FIXED LAST SUMMER AND THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A WIRING ISSUE. I AM CONCERNED THIS ISSUE HAS UNDERLYING PROBLEMS.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,945.
AIRBAG CHECK LIGHT RANDOMLY GOES OFF AND ON WILL DRIVING. TOOK TRUCK TO DEALER IN CAMBRIDGE,MN AND WAS TOLD PLUG CONNECTOR FOR AIRBAG UNDER FRONT PASSENGER SEAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY SO IT WOULD COST $650 ON TOP OF THE INSPECTION FEE I NOW OWE BECAUSE IT WASN'T A PROBLEM THAT WARRANTY COVERED. DENIED THE SERVICE, IF NEED BE I CAN FIX IT MYSELF AND BETTER THAN THEM JUST SETTING UP ANOTHER JUNK PLUG CONNECTOR TO PROBABLY GET SAME PROBLEM RETURN OF N NEW CONNECTOR.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. WHILE EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT SHUT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG, SEAT BELT AIR BAG, AND DRIVER'S SEAT AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT CALLED THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO START AN INVESTIGATION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

2014 DODGE RAM 1500 BIG HORN CREW CAB WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION, AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF. THE TRUCK WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET (25-30 MPH), IT BROAD SIDED ANOTHER VEHICLE, NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IN THE RAM WHEN THEY SHOULD HAVE. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN.

ON THE 4TH TIME THEY INSTALLED A NEW MODULE AND THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS/ WHICH THEY STATED WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY SO HAD TO PAY $1500 IN REPAIRS. THEY ADVISED TO INSTALL A NEW BATTERY THE 3RD TIME AND DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. THESE LIGHTS COME ON AT RANDOM TIMES, EITHER DRIVING OR STATIONARY.

MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON ALL THE TIME IT HAS BEEN SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP TWICE. I WAS TOLD WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK THE LIGHT WAS FIXED. BUT STILL COMING ON.
TAKATA RECALL - THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING, WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR MOVING. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE A $120 DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO CHECK IT OUT. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE. I FEEL THAT IT SHOULD BE CHECKED AT NO CHARGE TO ME AS IT REPRESENTS A TRUE SAFETY HAZARD IF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY, ESPECIALLY WHEN NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE ON MY 2014 DODGE RAM IS 86000. I CANNOT FIND A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS AGO.
THE ASSIST HANDLE HAS A LEAK WHEN RAINS HARD. REMOVED TO SEE WHERE IT IS LEAKING AND THERE IS AN AIRBAG THERE. IT ALSO LEAKS ALL OVER THE FLOOR THAT CAN EVENTUALLY LEAD TO STRUCTURAL ISSUES

TAKATA INFLATORS : MY FIANCE WAS IN A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT WITH A HIT AND RUN AND HIS TRUCK IS TOTALED. IT WAS FRONT IMPACT AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT INFLATE OR GO OFF- HIS HEAD HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND HE HAD TO GO TO THE ER FOR HEAD INJURIES.

VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED FOR ALL AIRBAG RELATED RECALLS IN THE PAST. AT APPROXIMATELY 53,000 MILES, MY SRS LIGHT RANDOMLY COMES ON AND 'SERVICE AIRBAG SYSTEM" MESSAGE DISPLAYS ON DASH. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF IT WAS COVERED UNDER RECALL OR WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD NO AND DEALERSHIP WANTS $150 TO LOOK AT VEHICLE. INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE ON RAM PICK-UPS. BECAUSE THE LIGHT COMES ON FOR A DAY OR SO AND GOES OUT FOR SEVERAL DAYS, I AM WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO STAY ON CONSTANTLY TO PREVENT MYSELF FROM HAVING TO PAY $150 MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE THERE IS NO ACTIVE FAULT WHEN I DROP IT OFF. BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD AIRBAG RELATED RECALL DUE TO WIRING, THESE VEHICLES SHOULD HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THEIR AIRBAG SYSTEM. THE FAULT THAT I AM GETTING FROM MY PERSONAL OBDII SCANNER IS "OPEN CIRCUIT ON FRONT DRIVERS SQUIB #2". LIGHT COMES ON WHEN RANDOMLY, EITHER AT FIRST START IF THE DAY, OR AFTER DRIVING FOR AWHILE. LIGHT AND WARNING GOES OFF IN THE SAME CONDITIONS (RANDOMLY). NEW AIRBAG COSTS $795 AND CLOCK-SPRING IS $295. THESE COSTS ARE FOR PARTS ONLY AND UNACCEPTABLE FOR A 4 YEAR OLD TRUCK WITH 53,000 MILES.

DEALER HAS NOT RECEIVED OR HEARD ANYTHING FROM THE MANUFACTURER IN REGARD TO A REPAIR FOR THE VEHICLES INVOLVED. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!
EVERY YEAR THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON. THE WIRE IN OR AROUND THE DRIVE SEAT GET CHAFFED. I AM FORCED TO PAY FOR THE SAME REPAIR OVER AND OVER.
TAKATA RECALL. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH IN A 70MPH ZONE IN THE RAIN. TRUCK HYDROPLANE AND I SPUN ACROSS THE HIGHWAY AND IMPACTED A CEMENT WALL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE SEAT AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY RESULTING IN ME HITTING THE DOOR, CAUSING BRUISING TO MY RIBS AND SHOULDER ON MY LEFT SIDE.

VEHICLE WAS RECALLED. ODESSA DODGE (MANAGER LARRY HOOK) HAD THE VEHICLE 7 TIMES AND COULDNT' FIX IT-ORIGINALLY STARTED WITHIN WARRANTY. AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IN A MINOR SIDESWIPE COLLISION AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE DRIVER WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE SMOKE (DUST?) FROM THE AIRBAG INFLATION AND THE BAG ITSELF IN HIS FACE THAT PREVENTED HIM FROM SEEING WHERE HE WAS GOING. WE HIT A UTILITY POLE AT SPEED AND SEVERAL TREES WHICH EVENTUALLY STOPPED THE TRUCK. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AT THE INITIAL (VERY MINOR) IMPACT AND WERE OF NO BENEFIT TO US IN THE SUBSEQUENT MAJOR IMPACTS THAT WE COULD NOT EVEN SEE COMING. IN THIS CASE DRIVER ERROR MAY HAVE CAUSED THE INITIAL IMPACT BUT MANY ACCIDENTS OF THIS TYPE MAY FOLLOW DEER/AUTO CRASHES THAT OCCUR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND DO NOT SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. PERHAPS THE THRESHOLD IMPACT FOR AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SHOULD BE HIGHER OR AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT MODIFIED SO DRIVERS ARE ABLE TO CONTROL THEIR VEHICLE AFTER AN INITIAL IMPACT THAT DOES NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TO WONDER HOW MANY HUMAN DEATHS IN DEER/AUTO COLLISIONS RESULT FROM SECONDARY IMPACTS AT HIGH SPEED BECAUSE DRIVERS COULD NOT STOP THEIR AUTO SAFELY BECAUSE OF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AT THE INITIAL HIT. *JS
ON JULY 30TH I WAS DRIVING MY 2014 RAM 1500 THOUGH AN INTERSECTION AND GOT HIT BY ANOTHER TRUCK GOING THROUGH THE LIGHT (PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE). THIS SPUN MY TRUCK SIDEWAYS AND ROLLED IT 2 OR 3 TIMES ABOUT 50 FEET. AT THIS POINT THE TRUCK WAS LAYING ON ITS PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. AFTER LOOKING OVER THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT THE ONLY AIRBAG THAT WENT OFF WAS THE DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN. THERE WERE 5 PEOPLE IN THE TRUCK AND ONLY ONE SUSTAINED MAJOR INJURIES. MY MOTHER HAD A BROKEN NECK AND BACK AND ENDED UP SPENDING ABOUT A MONTH IN THE HOSPITAL. THE OTHER 3 PEOPLE IN THE CAR WERE MY 2 CHILDREN AND WIFE. WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE, BUT WITH ONLY ONE AIR BAG DEPLOYING IT COULD HAVE BEEN ALLOT WORSE. *TR ..UPDATED 05/09/17 *BF *JS
I WROTE A PRIOR COMPLAINT REGARDING THE AIR BAGS. I HAD TAKEN THE TRUCK IN 7 TIMES. AFTER I RECEIVED AN EMAIL BACK STATING THE CASE WAS CLOSED, I WAS UPSET. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER ONE MORE TIME, AND THEY APOLOGIZED AND REIMBURSED ME FOR MOST OF THE REPAIRS. IN THE END, I WAS PLEASED THAT THEY RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM AND WERE WILLING TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION.. *TR
THE VEHICLE HIT THE GUARD RAIL AND TURNED OVER ONTO ITS SIDE. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE TRUCK WAS TOTAL. THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AND COULD HAVE MINIMIZED THE INJURES. *TR
