Your air conditioning condenser has developed a small leak that causes refrigerant to escape, reducing cooling performance. This appears to be a widespread issue affecting 2014-2017 Silverados due to a factory welding defect. You'll need to have the condenser inspected and likely replaced to restore proper AC function.

the truck went in for the fuel injector number 6 again. went in on June 13 and on the 12 as well. on the 12 they said it was the number 6 coil. they then gave it back but the next day had to be returned again for the same problem. this time they found the number 6 fuel injector was possibly shorted out. the service manager did call and said that i was right that it was the fuel injector. i feel that i paid for a coil that should not have been replaced in the first place.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended and decelerated unintendedly. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the vehicle failed to exceed 20 MPH. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine lifters needed to be replaced, and the contact was provided an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where the upper part of the engine was rebuilt, and the lifters were replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 98,000.

I was driving home from work on 5/9/2025 and my truck slowly started to loose power and I almost got rear ended going up a hill. NO check engine lights or symptoms noted prior I was able to make it to the Chevy Dealer here in town where i Live and dropped off. dealer noted cyl 4 has a misfireand there is a tick noise on that bank.checked and found no compression on cyl 4, removed valve cover and found that the lifter for cyl 4 is broken and pushrod bent. After reasearching found this to be a common problem, contacted Chevy reagarding this as truck is low miles (88k) NO help offered.

While driving to work a month ago (3/19/25) I lost the power to accelerate out of nowhere. And my truck started making this noise, what I can only describe as a winding up noise while trying to accelerate. I was going 55mph on a busy morning commute. There were no warning lights. I pulled over and shut the truck off. Checked oil (even though it was changed a week or 2 prior). Oil was fine. Let truck sit for 10 mins then tried to turn back on, it started but had that winding up noise when just sitting in idle, the check engine light then came on after it was on for a minute or so. Ran codes at home, and truck started making an additional rattle noise on top of the winding up noise when had to be turned on. One code was the crankshaft position sensor, we changed that out. Then the truck wouldn't start. Taken to Dealership, and they said initially they found a broken connector to the engine harness. Fixed that then truck started but still making the rattle/clunk type noise and louder than at home so they continued diagnostics because they said the noise sounds like a rod knock, so rod either being bent/broken/slipping. Further diagnostics found that oil and coolant are mixed along with metal shavings through engine so new engine is needed.

EVERYTHING, it started with spark plugs and boots which is normal, then all of a sudden one ignition coil after the other, then the transmission, now it's the valve cover gaskets, the ENGINE oil cooler lines, the rear main seal, the oil pan itself, like literally everything. The places I took it advised probably getting a whole new engine. Mind you I just financed this truck 2 years ago. The transmission cost me $6,700 dollars out of pocket because my power train warranty wouldn't cover it because some wire. I don't know but there is seriously big problems with this year make and model. Also, the catalytic converters are bad and the exhaust manifold. All these things can't be wrong all at the same time unless there was a major issue prior to me financing when Chevrolet spit these trucks out.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 55 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed down to the floorboard, but the vehicle failed to stop immediately. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle slowed down and came to a stop with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The failure occurred on 4 separate occasions. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired; however, the contact replaced the brake pads. The contact stated that on another occasion, while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power, the steering wheel locked, and lost functionality. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact restarted the vehicle and the vehicle returned to normal functionality. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that on another occasion while driving 55 MPH, the A/C stopped functioning as intended. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with a coolant leak. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

I have experienced engine failure in my 2014 Silverado 6.2L on 3 separate occasions. All caused by the AFM system. Rockers lock into the wrong position while transforming from 4 cylinder to 8 cylinder operation. The first two occurrences bent lifters and caused a failure to the catalytic converter. A certified GM service department at a local dealership replaced parts covered by warranty. On the third occasion the rockers locked into the wrong position, bent push rods, damaged the cam shaft and caused a failure in the catalytic converter. It was taken to the same GM service department at Lou Fusz Chevrolet. My 5 year warranty had expired and GM refused to cover the parts they had previously replaced a year prior. I was quoted approximately $10k for repairs and $16k for full engine replacement. After some back and forth with the service department manager I requested to speak with the lead mechanic. He informed me that it was an AFM system problem he was very familiar with. He stated to me that I would be better off taking it to a private shop and bypassing the AFM system as he was “working on” 10-15 vehicles a month with the same issue. At the time I had reached out to GM corporate about the issue and I did not receive a correspondence. I have all of the paperwork and receipts and all other service records dating back to my purchase of the vehicle in 2018.

Additionally, the mechanic informed the contact that if the camshaft had failed, the camshaft and the engine would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. check engine light came on and the code was cylinder 7 misfire 'code p0307'. it was replaced the first time and only lasted less than two months. the same code came up again and when they put a new one in they had to tow it back because it failed not even 30 minutes later.

The dealer determined that the radiator, thermostat, and the coolant lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under GMC Special Coverage Number: N15170099. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000.

Lifter failure happened while traveling home from Florida to SC. I was towing a vehicle and barely made it home. Having to drive at low speeds on the interstate put me at risk for accident. Now that I’m home I’m losing money because I have been unable to work due to not being able to drive the truck. The dealership quoted me $4700 to fix when there is a known class action lawsuit for this exact problem. GM should just replace these motors. This is very dangerous. There were no prior warning signs it just started ticking after stopping for fuel.

Automatic fuel management system failure has caused a p0300 code as multiple misfire diagnosed to cylinder 4 dead with no compression. This vehicle is no longer drivable and I still owe $21,000. GM knows of this failure for a long time. At current I have no way to pay for repairs and making payments on a truck I can not drive. I bought this vehicle used at 83,000 miles and have put 16,000 miles on it in 2 1/2 years

My truck has developed a radiator leak after 39930 miles. I see from reading on the Internet this is a very common problem with this year of truck. Chevrolet even has a recall to replace the radiator but says my truck is not included. The recall notice is #15829. This ends up being a very expensive repair. I have been quoted $1428.00 by a Chevrolet dealer to replace radiator.

I CHOSE A USED 2014 CHEVY SILVERADO WITH 180K MILES. I MET MY SALESPERSON, BERNARD, ON SITE AT PUGMIRE FORD, IN CARROLLTON, GA. WHEN I TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, THE TRUCK HAD OFF ROAD TIRES, SO I REQUESTED THAT PUGMIRE PUT REGULAR TIRES ON THE TRUCK BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. THEY AGREED AND THE TRUCK WAS DELIVERED A FEW DAYS LATER. SOON AFTER DELIVERY, I NOTICED A SOFT NOISE SEEMINGLY COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I INFORMED MY SALESPERSON BERNARD OF THE ISSUE. HE ASKED ME TO BRING THE TRUCK BACK FOR REVIEW. I DID & BERNARD TOLD ME 'IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE EXHAUST SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. IT WILL GO AWAY AFTER A FEW DRIVECYCLES'. I DIDN'T BELIEVE HIM SO I HAD THE OBD CHECKED, THAT INDICATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD FAILED. I SENT THE DOCUMENT TO BERNARD, THEN I ASKED IF THE VEHICLE HAD A RECENT EMISSIONS INSPECTION, HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW. HE APOLOGIZED, BUT STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. AT THIS POINT, I REMINDED BERNARD 1. IT IS ILLEGAL TO SELL A VEHICLE THAT CANNOT PASS EMISSIONS 2. THAT MY BANK HAD NOT YET MAILED THE CHECK. WITH THAT MIND, PUGMIRE FORD FINALLY AGREED TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. SO I AGREED TO AUTHORIZE MY BANK TO SEND THE CHECK. PUGMIRE HAD ARRANGED FOR THE TRUCK TO BE FIXED AT G&S AUTO AND THEY PAID FOR THE WORK. BUT AFTER REPAIR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RETURNED. SO I TOOK IT BACK TO G&S TO ASK WHY. THAT'S WHEN THEY DETERMINED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD FAILED DUE TO INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE. THEY RECOMMENDED ANOTHER SHOP FOR A 2ND OPINION. THAT SHOP IS CALLED ALL PRO AUTOMOTIVE. ALL PRO CONFIRMED THE DAMAGE AND PROVIDED A QUOTE FOR THE REPAIRS. PUGMIRE FORD VOIDED ALL CLAIMS OF THE VEHICLE BEING AN AN 'AS-IS' PURCHASE WHEN THEY PAID TO REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. THEY TOOK OWNERSHIP OF IT, AND OPTED OUT AFTER THEY RECEIVED THE CHECK FROM MY BANK.

CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF EITHER ONE COULD HAVE CREATED MAJOR ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND AN UNSAFE CONDITION.

2014 SILVERADO 1500 QUALITY ISSUES MY 2014 SILVERADO 1500 NEEDS A NEW $1,840 RADIATOR/OIL COOLER. THE TRUCK HAS 48,000 MILES PURCHASED NEW 5+ YEARS AGO, SO IT EXCEEDS THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD. AT MY LAST 5,000 MILE OIL CHANGE, THE OIL WAS FOUND TO BE 2 QUARTS LOW WITH OIL IN THE COOLANT. GM HAS REFUSED (TWICE) TO ASSIST IN THE COST OF REPAIRS BECAUSE I DID NOT USE A GM AUTO SERVICE FOR MY OIL CHANGES. I HAD THE OIL CHANGED EVERY 5,000 MILES WITH DURABLEND BY AN INDEPENDENT QUICK OIL CHANGE SERVICE, A MILEAGE THAT EXCEEDS THE GM 7,500 MILEAGE RECOMMENDATION. I EXPLAINED TO GM CEO MARY BARA THAT I WAS UPSET WITH THIS DECISION - A TRUCK WITH 48,000 MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND THAT GM IS NOT ASSUMING RESPONSIBILITY FOR ITS QUALITY PROBLEMS. I FURTHER ADVISED THAT I WOULD SHARE MY EXPERIENCE WITH OTHERS. LESS THAN SIX MONTHS AGO THE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED - BUT LUCKILY IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE TRUCK HAS HAD MULTIPLE RECALLS. NOW THE GM SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS CHARGING ME $147 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE I'M NOT ENGAGING THEM TO DO THE REPAIR. MY CONCLUSION IS THAT THIS TRUCK HAS CHRONIC QUALITY PROBLEMS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AFTER CHECKING INTERNET -ALSO A FRIEND HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH YUKON. OBVIOUSLY IT WILL BE THE LAST GM VEHICLE I OWN.

THE CONTACT CALLED WILSON CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 4850 W 6TH AVE, STILLWATER, OK 74074, (405) 334-5134) AND INFORMED THE DEALER ABOUT A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. THE DEALER DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE MUST BE A LEAK BECAUSE THE FREON CONTAINER WAS ALMOST EMPTY. THE MECHANIC ADDED ALMOST A POUND OF FREON TO THE CONTAINER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THREE TO FOUR DAYS LATER, THE FREON CONTAINER WAS EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.

ULTIMATELY, THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY STARTER MOTOR. A CHECK OF THE PART NUMBER OF THE FACTORY STARTER MOTOR THAT HAD BEEN REMOVED (SEE ATTACHED PHOTO) INDICATES IT IS COMPATIBLE WITH 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO/GMC SIERRA 1500 WITH THE 4.3L V6 ENGINE. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE HAS THE 5.3L V8 ENGINE. EITHER THE INCORRECT PART WAS INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY OR GM DETERMINED IT IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR THE 5.3L V8 ENGINE AND DISCONTINUED USING IT FOR THIS MODEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (SUN SHINE CHEVROLET IN ARDEN, NORTH CAROLINA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONDENSER WAS LEAKING FREON INTO THE COMPRESSOR, WHICH CAUSED IT TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE CONDENSER WAS INCLUDED IN A NATIONAL BACKORDER INDEFINITELY. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK COOLANT LEAK. THEY FOUND OUT THE RADIATOR WAS CRACKED AND TOLD ME GM HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE THERMOSTAT OVERCYCLING CAUSING THE RADIATOR TO DEVELOP STRESS CRACKS AND LEAK COOLANT. MY TRUCK HOWEVER WAS PASS THE 36 MONTH BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY AND MY TRUCK DOESN'T FALL UNDER THEIR SPECIAL COVERAGE BULLETIN 15829 TO FIX THIS ISSUE FOR 5 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. QUOTED AROUND $900 TO $1,000 TO REPLACE THERMOSTAT WITH A NEW VERSION THAT WILL NOT STRESS CRACK THE RADIATOR AND NEW RADIATOR (SAME PART AS ORIGINAL) IS PUT IN THE TRUCK. MOST THREADS MENTION THAT THIS IS A KNOWN MFG FLAW WITH THE HOSE BRACKET FOR THIS MODEL. THE FLAW ALLOWS THE HOSE FITTING TO CRACK OVER TIME. IT APPEARS THAT GM INCLUDES A SUPPORT BRACKET WITH THE NEW HOSE AS PART OF THE REPAIR. THAT REPLACEMENT BRACKET IS GM23264893. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT UNLESS THE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURE WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT SINCE THE OCCURRENCE WAS NORMAL FOR A NEWER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1000. I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1 WEEK AGO TODAY. THE VEHICLE WAS DELIVERED 2 DAYS AGO. THE CHEVROLET DEALER DID NOT INFORM ME OF THE RECALL FOR POSSIBLE ENGINE FIRE. I CHECKED MY VIN NUMBER ONLINE AND IT SHOWS THAT MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECALLED ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND IT STILL HAS A WARNING FOR NOT BEING SERVICED AS PER CHEVROLET AND NHTSA WEBSITES. BASICALLY, THE CHEVROLET DEALER SOLD ME A NEW VEHICLE ON RECALL AGAINST THE COMPANY POLICY, DOCUMENT DCS3115 (NOTICE TO DEALERS), AS POSTED ON THIS WEBSITE . THE DEALER DID NOT INFORM ME IF THERE WAS ANY REPROGRAMMING DONE AS REQUIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER. I CALLED THE GENERAL SALES MANAGER WHO KNOWS MY VEHICLE TODAY AND HE DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE RECALL AT ALL AND STATED HE GET BACK TO ME . ACCORDING TO GM CUSTOMER CARE AND AFTERSALES ON YOUR WEBSITE , ALL CHEVROLET AND GM DEALERS WERE SENT AND URGENT STOP DELIVERY ORDER ON JANUARY 10, 2014 ADDRESSED TO THE DEALER, GENERAL MANGERS, NEW VEHICLE SALES MANAGERS AND SERVICE MANAGERS TO STOP DELIVERY OF THE CHEVROLET SILVERADO AND TO REPROGRAM THEM PRIOR TO SALES. IN THE MEAN TIME I AM STUCK WITH THIS VEHICLE AND DO NOT KNOW WHETHER IT WAS SERVICED OR WHETHER IT IS AT RISK OF CATCHING FIRE. THIS HAS SHOWN LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN CHEVROLET AND ITS LOCAL DEALER IN COMMUNICATION, TRUST, AND CONFIDENCE. IT HAS PLACED ME AND MY FAMILY AT RISK. IT HAS VIOLATED THEIR RESPONSIBILITY OF DISCLOSURE TO THE CUSTOMER AND HAS BEEN NEGLIGENT IN ITS POLICIES AND PROTOCOL IN THE HANDLING OF RECALL AS MANDATED BY ITS CUSTOMER POLICIES GM CUSTOMER CARE DSC3115 AND US DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NHTSA MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY TITLE 49, UNITED STATES CODE CHAPTER 301 OF MAY 2013, OFFICE OF THE CHIEF COUNSEL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE AND WHEN THE GEAR LEVER WAS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE THE ENGINE BECAME INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND RESUME DRIVING NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY IN THE REVERSE POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO DEALERS FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN AT BOTH DEALERS WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.
