Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 42)
Structure →3 issues
Your truck's roof is leaking water inside the cabin. Toyota quoted you over $1,000 to repair it, which you can't afford right now. You've noticed this same issue appears in recall notices for older Tundras. The repair will likely involve sealing or replacing the roof panels and weatherstripping to stop water intrusion.

Your sunroof spontaneously shattered while driving on the freeway with no external impact or obstruction nearby. The glass broke upward rather than falling into the cabin, landing on the closed sunroof shade instead of passengers. The owner suspects the seals around the glass may have bound up from disuse, causing the glass to flex and shatter under normal driving conditions. A sunroof replacement or seal inspection and repair will likely be needed to address the issue.

Your truck's back ceiling is leaking, and the problem is getting worse over time. Water is entering the interior through the ceiling area in the rear cabin. The repair will likely involve identifying the source of the leak (such as around window seals, roof panel gaps, or weatherstripping) and resealing or replacing the affected components.

Unknown Or Other →3 issues
Your sunroof spontaneously shattered and exploded while you were driving normally, with no warning signs beforehand. The shattered glass remained outside the cabin but could have entered it. The dealer replaced the sunroof at your expense, and you've filed an insurance claim with documentation and photos.

Your sunroof spontaneously shattered while driving on the highway in clear weather and cold temperatures (around 25°F), with glass pieces flying out of the vehicle and some landing in the sunshade. There was no debris from above or other vehicles that could have caused this. Replacing the sunroof assembly will likely be necessary.

You noticed water leaking from your back seat ceiling, and the water appears to be coming from the third brake light area. This is causing water to drip into the interior of your truck. The issue will likely require removing and resealing the third brake light assembly to stop the water intrusion.

Seats →2 issues
Your 2020 Tundra's front passenger seat caught fire while the vehicle was parked and unoccupied, causing the seat to burn and melt before the fire extinguished itself. The fire originated from the heated seat function with no warning lights beforehand. The dealer identified that the seat heater needs to be replaced, but the vehicle has not been repaired.

Your seat headrests slip out of position easily and may come loose during an accident, which could reduce their ability to protect against whiplash injury. You've noticed this issue since purchasing the vehicle, though it hasn't been inspected by a dealer. Fixing this would likely involve replacing or adjusting the headrest mounting mechanism.

Fuel/propulsion System →2 issues
Your Tundra has stalled and lost power multiple times while driving at highway speeds (around 45 mph), with warning lights and a "Not ready to drive" message appearing each time. The Toyota dealership identified a rough idling code related to low fuel but didn't perform any repairs or explain the cause. The truck died again just three miles after leaving the dealership, putting your family's safety at risk since steering and braking become harder without engine power at high speeds.

Your truck won't fuel normally—the gas pump automatically stops after about 2 seconds of pumping, even when you try at different gas stations. This prevents you from filling up your tank completely. The issue likely involves a fuel filler neck or vapor recovery system that may need inspection or replacement.

Forward Collision Avoidance →2 issues
Your truck's Pre-Collision System warning light keeps coming on while you're driving, along with a message telling you to see a dealer. You've also noticed the rear passenger wheel locking up at times, and your check engine light is on. Even after disconnecting the battery to reset the system and cleaning the cameras yourself, the warning persists. This likely requires a dealer diagnostic to identify whether the issue is with the camera sensors, wiring, or the collision avoidance control module itself.

Your forward collision warning system has activated twice without any vehicles actually in front of you — once on a highway at 70+ mph and again at lower speeds on a local road. Both times, the system automatically applied the brakes and displayed a crash warning on your dashboard, even though there were no obstacles ahead. The second incident nearly caused an accident with a vehicle behind you. A dealer inspection will likely involve checking the radar sensor alignment, cleaning the sensor lens, and updating the collision avoidance system software.

Service Brakes →1 issue
Your brake pedal pad is made of slippery PVC plastic material that may cause your foot to slip during braking, especially on wet surfaces. This slippery surface caused you to lose foot contact with the pedal while trying to stop at a red light, nearly resulting in a collision. The pad appears to be a non-OEM substitute rather than genuine Toyota. The fix will involve replacing the brake pedal pad with a proper textured version from Toyota.

Electrical System, unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your Toyota's SOS emergency button doesn't send the correct vehicle identification number to the call center when pressed. This means if you need emergency help, responders could be sent to the wrong location—potentially another state entirely. Toyota has confirmed the problem exists but says it can't be fixed, and the dealer is also unable to resolve it. This issue involves the DCM (data communication module) or related electrical system and would require Toyota to develop a repair solution.

Air Bags, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your truck was hit in the front right corner, but the airbags didn't deploy and the automatic emergency braking system didn't activate. This caused you to hit the rearview mirror, break the windshield, and suffer head and spine injuries. The safety systems that should have protected you in this crash appear to have failed.

Visibility →1 issue
Your sunroof is making loud chainsaw-like noises when opening and won't close properly. The dealer found that the sunroof cables have seized and the glass is under stress, which matches a known Toyota technical issue. The manufacturer says this isn't covered under warranty and won't help with repairs. Fixing this will likely require replacing the sunroof cables and possibly the glass panel.

Fuel System, Gasoline →1 issue
Your 2020 Tundra lost power while driving and wouldn't restart after you pulled over. The check engine and traction control warning lights came on. You believe this may be related to a known fuel system issue (NHTSA Campaign 20V682000), though you haven't had the vehicle inspected or repaired. The problem occurred at 34,000 miles and may involve fuel system components that need inspection or replacement.

Engine →1 issue
Your air conditioning compressor partially seizes when you turn on the AC while driving or when the AC is already on when you start the engine, causing a very loud noise. When this happens, your truck suddenly slows down as if the brakes are applied until the compressor fully engages. Your dealer believes it's the compressor clutch engaging but says they can't replicate the issue in their shop, even though they've heard your recordings of the sound. The problem has occurred since you purchased the truck new and you feel it's unsafe to drive when it happens.

Visibility/wiper →1 issue
Your sunroof glass shattered without any crash or impact. This leaves your roof exposed and compromised, creating both a safety concern and potential water leak risk. You'll need to have the sunroof glass panel replaced entirely.

Tires,wheels →1 issue
Your TPMS (tire pressure monitoring) warning light came on while driving at highway speed. The dealer discovered that mismatched tire pressure sensors were installed on your wheels after they were replaced, causing the warning. The sensors need to be replaced with the correct matching set and reset to resolve the issue.
