Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 247)
Engine →3 issues
Your 2024 Toyota Tundra iMax Hybrid started making a knocking sound, and after a dealership system update, the truck began stalling unexpectedly—once dangerously at a traffic light with oncoming traffic. Despite multiple visits to the dealership and weeks of waiting for Toyota corporate guidance, the dealer has not identified or fixed the issue, and you're concerned about driving the vehicle due to the stalling risk.

Your low engine oil warning light came on while driving, and your truck automatically switched to hybrid mode. When you pulled over, the engine seized completely. The dealer found that your engine failed due to oil starvation, which damaged the rod bearings. Your engine will need to be rebuilt or replaced, and this happened at around 44,186 miles. The manufacturer has been notified and a case has been filed.

Your 2024 Tundra may have manufacturing debris left inside the engine that could potentially cause engine failure. Toyota has identified this as a safety recall (NHTSA 25V-767), but as of March 2026, no fix has been made available—over 4 months after the recall was filed. The owner is concerned about the extended delay in providing a remedy. Toyota should provide a repair plan and timeline to address this issue.

Engine And Engine Cooling, exterior Lighting →3 issues
Your 2024 Tundra has been flagged for two recalls—one involving the engine and cooling system, and another for exterior lighting—but the repair parts aren't available yet. You're also experiencing brake lights that turn on and off intermittently. The dealer hasn't been able to diagnose or fix the problem, and you're concerned that the manufacturer is taking too long to release the necessary recall parts.

Your 2024 Tundra has been issued two recall notices for exterior lighting and engine cooling, but repair parts aren't available yet. You've experienced the vehicle jerking, failing to accelerate when you press the pedal, and stalling — this happened about ten times in one day with no warning lights showing. The dealer hasn't inspected or repaired the vehicle yet, and Toyota hasn't been formally notified of the problem. The issue may require engine diagnostics and parts replacement once the recall components become available.

Your 2024 Toyota Tundra is subject to two safety recalls (exterior lighting and engine cooling), but the replacement parts aren't available yet—and Toyota says it could take eight months or longer before they arrive. You've been told the vehicle is unsafe to drive while waiting for the repairs, which is concerning since you regularly use it to transport family members. The fix will require installing the recalled parts once they become available from the manufacturer.

Power Train,engine →2 issues
Your 2024 Tundra's 3.4L Twin-Turbo engine has the same manufacturing defect (machining debris and bearing tolerances) that's under federal recall for catastrophic engine failure in non-hybrid models. Toyota excluded hybrid versions from the recall, assuming the electric motor can handle a limp-home situation, but you believe a sudden engine seizure at highway speeds could still cause dangerous loss of power that the hybrid battery alone cannot safely manage. You're urging NHTSA to expand the recall to include hybrid models since the primary gasoline engine is fundamentally defective. This may require engine inspection, bearing replacement, or engine rebuild depending on findings.

Your 2024 Tundra has been experiencing throttle lag and hesitation when accelerating from a stop or decelerating, causing the truck to lurch forward unexpectedly. No warning light appears, but the problem happens off and on. The dealer performed a repair attempt, but the issue persists, and importantly, the dealer erased the vehicle's event data recorder during diagnostics, making it harder to diagnose the root cause. A fix will likely involve a throttle control system inspection, software update, or sensor replacement to resolve the delayed acceleration response.

Electrical System,exterior Lighting,engine →1 issue
Your 2024 Tundra experiences delayed throttle response that created dangerous situations while turning. Your vehicle is subject to Safety Recall 25TA14 for a potential engine stall caused by manufacturing debris that can damage the main bearing, but Toyota has not yet released a repair solution. Your dealer has confirmed they cannot perform any repairs and cannot provide a timeline for when a fix will be available. Resolving this issue will require Toyota to develop and release an authorized repair procedure for the engine bearing damage.

Steering,service Brakes,engine →1 issue
Your engine suddenly lost all power while driving, causing your steering and brakes to stop working and disabling the hybrid assist system. Multiple warning lights appeared simultaneously (low oil pressure, hybrid malfunction, and check engine), but there was no warning before this happened. You had to be pushed off the highway by other drivers. This issue may require diagnosis of the engine oil pressure system, hybrid components, and overall engine condition.

Electrical System,structure,engine →1 issue
Your parked, off Tundra suddenly caught fire and burned intensely with explosions, completely destroying the front half of the vehicle and entire engine compartment. There were no warning lights or previous issues before the fire started. This will require a complete investigation into the electrical system and engine components to determine the cause of the spontaneous fire.

Power Train, vehicle Speed Control →1 issue
Your Tundra experiences a dangerous 1-2 second delay when you press the accelerator—the engine doesn't rev and the truck doesn't move, even though no warning lights or error codes appear. This hesitation is unpredictable and has nearly caused crashes in situations like entering roundabouts or pulling out in traffic. Toyota wiped the transmission's adaptive learning memory, which helped temporarily, but the problem has returned. This issue appears to be separate from known engine recalls and represents a significant safety risk.

Engine And Engine Cooling →1 issue
Your 2024 Tundra has experienced sudden loss of engine power while driving at low speeds, including a complete stall in the middle of an intersection with no warning light. This has happened multiple times, and your dealer diagnosed a complete engine failure that requires replacement. The dealer identified this as related to a recall (Campaign 25V767000), but the replacement engine part isn't available yet, so your vehicle hasn't been repaired.

Unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your 2024 Tundra has a safety recall (26V-038) because the rear visibility may not meet federal safety standards, which could increase the risk of hitting someone while backing up. Toyota has not yet provided a fix for this issue, and it's been over 30 days since the recall was filed. This is the third unresolved safety recall on your vehicle. The fix will likely involve a software update, camera system adjustment, or mirror modification to improve rear visibility.

Tires →1 issue
Your Tundra's tires are wearing out prematurely at 23,000 miles, with excessive wear on the outer edges and tread. Both Toyota and the tire manufacturer (Falken) have blamed each other—Toyota says the vehicle was delivered misaligned, while Falken points to Toyota's responsibility. Neither company is taking ownership of the problem or offering a warranty solution. The tire replacement at this low mileage may require a wheel alignment check and potentially new tires.

Power Train,service Brakes,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your truck's brakes squeal when reversing and sometimes when stopping, a problem that started when you picked it up from the dealership. Your front fog lights and rear reverse lights are collecting moisture inside, and your radiator has needed replacement twice despite low mileage—the dealership identified these as factory defects but says there are no fixes available. Most concerning, your truck hesitates and vibrates when accelerating from a stop or merging onto highways, sometimes taking several seconds to respond; the dealership found nothing wrong, but you've noticed this doesn't happen in sport mode from a complete stop. Addressing these issues will likely require diagnostic computer scans, transmission fluid analysis, electrical system troubleshooting, and possibly radiator system repair or replacement.

Exterior Lighting →1 issue
Your truck's reverse lights may not work properly due to a known issue with the reverse lamp assemblies. Toyota identified this safety problem in May 2025, but as of February 2026, the company still hasn't provided a fix. The repair will likely involve inspecting and replacing the faulty reverse lamp assembly or its internal components.

Vehicle Speed Control,engine,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
After your engine was rebuilt with a short block replacement, you're experiencing the same engine hesitation and throttle lag that occurred before the original engine failure, now happening again within 200 miles of getting the truck back. Your fuel economy has also dropped significantly from 14-16 mpg to around 11 mpg, and the dealer says they can't find any issues even though oil pressure and temperature appear normal. The repair may need to include a complete engine inspection, fuel injector cleaning, or a full engine replacement rather than just a short block.

Power Train,unknown Or Other,engine →1 issue
Your truck has a noticeable delay when you press the gas pedal — it takes a couple of seconds before the engine responds and the truck accelerates forward. This lag feels jerky when it finally kicks in, and you find it both frustrating and potentially unsafe during driving situations where quick acceleration is needed.
