Filed: Mar 2026

Your 2020 Ram 1500's eTorque alternator failed while driving, causing a complete loss of electrical power and requiring a tow. This created a serious safety risk because you lost power assist for steering and braking. The part is currently unavailable from Ram dealers, and you had to purchase a replacement at significantly higher cost through other channels. Fixing this issue requires replacing the eTorque alternator with a new unit.

NHTSA #: 11727324
criticalELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Filed: Mar 2026

Your brake system may not be responding properly when you try to stop, and your trailer brakes may become inoperable while towing downhill. You might see a "Trailer Brakes Disconnected" warning light on your dashboard. The dealer checked your vehicle but couldn't find the specific cause, so the issue may be intermittent or related to the electrical connection between your truck and trailer brake system.

NHTSA #: 11725661
criticalELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Filed: Feb 2026

Your truck suddenly lost all electrical power while driving on the highway at speed, leaving only the hazard lights functional. You couldn't lock the doors, restart the engine, or use any other electrical features. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a faulty Radio Frequency Hub, which controls various electrical functions in the vehicle. The repair will likely involve replacing the Radio Frequency Hub module.

NHTSA #: 11720572

FireFiled: Feb 2026

Your truck's 7-way trailer plug caught fire while parked in your garage, filling it with smoke and flames. The fire started during a routine warm-up and could have spread to your home. Even after an investigation and repair attempt, the truck started smoking again while driving to the dealership, indicating the underlying electrical problem may not have been fully resolved.

NHTSA #: 11719736
mediumELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Filed: Mar 2026

Your vehicle's media hub stops working when exposed to hot weather, cutting off access to phone navigation and causing distractions while driving. This problem has persisted even after the dealership replaced the media hub. The issue appears to be related to heat exposure rather than the hub itself.

Your 2020 Ram 1500's hybrid charging system has failed repeatedly, causing the engine to shut off unexpectedly while driving and cutting off power steering assist—creating a serious safety hazard. The vehicle has also stalled at low speeds and intersections, and your battery dies daily despite recharging. The issue stems from a faulty belt starter generator (BSG) and 48-volt hybrid system components that are currently on national backorder. Fixing this will require replacing the failed BSG unit and associated 48-volt system components.

NHTSA #: 11719217
highENGINE
Filed: Feb 2026

Your engine is running very rough and idling poorly, with the check engine light turning on. You may also experience engine misfires where the engine runs unevenly, and your vehicle could stall but will restart. A dealer diagnosed this as a failed camshaft that needs to be replaced to restore normal engine operation.

Filed: Mar 2026

Your tailgate unexpectedly opened while you were driving. You took your truck to the dealer, but they couldn't diagnose or fix the problem. While this issue is related to a known recall (Campaign 22V904000), your vehicle's VIN wasn't included in that recall. The fix will likely involve inspecting and repairing the tailgate latch mechanism to ensure it stays securely closed while driving.

NHTSA #: 11727210
mediumSTRUCTURE
Filed: Feb 2026

Your 2020 Ram 1500's tailgate won't open, even though the truck was supposed to be fixed for this exact issue under a recall (Campaign 22V904000). The dealer looked at it but didn't diagnose or repair the problem, so the issue still exists. The tailgate release mechanism may need to be inspected, repaired, or replaced to restore proper function.

Fuel/propulsion System2 issues
highFUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Mar 2026

Your truck may have trouble filling up with fuel at the gas pump. You might notice the pump nozzle clicking off repeatedly, preventing you from completing a full tank. This is a known issue affecting certain 2018–2020 Ram 1500s, often caused by a faulty rollover valve inside the fuel tank. The fix typically involves replacing the faulty rollover valve.

Your fuel filler neck has a stuck rollover valve that prevents you from refueling properly and causes fuel to splash onto the ground when you try to fill up. This appears to be a widespread issue affecting 5th generation Ram trucks. The fix will likely involve replacing or repairing the rollover valve in the fuel filler neck assembly.

NHTSA #: 11721353
Power Train1 issue
criticalPOWER TRAIN
Filed: Mar 2026

Your 2020 Ram 1500's eTorque hybrid system failed and left the vehicle unable to operate starting in December 2025. After waiting for replacement parts, a defective replacement component was installed, causing the same problem and keeping your truck out of service for over three months. A sudden loss of this system while driving could create a safety hazard, and the repeated failure raises concerns about broader reliability issues. Fixing this will require diagnosis and replacement of the eTorque system components, likely including the hybrid battery, motor, or control module.

NHTSA #: 11727055
Air Bags1 issue
criticalAIR BAGS
Filed: Feb 2026

Your airbag warning light came on while driving, and the dealer found that your airbag had failed. After repair, the same problem happened again. The fix will likely involve replacing the faulty airbag module or sensor that's causing the repeated failure.

Filed: Apr 2026

While driving, your truck suddenly lost power and went into limp mode (reduced performance mode), with warning lights appearing on the dashboard. You're experiencing hard starts and the limp mode continues. The diagnostic codes point to a crankshaft position sensor issue, along with electronic throttle control and stability control warnings. You've already had sensors, throttle body, and filters cleaned without improvement. The repair may be temporary, potentially lasting only a year before the problem returns.

NHTSA #: 11728436
Suspension1 issue
highSUSPENSION
Filed: Mar 2026

Your air suspension system freezes up and stops working properly, which can be dangerous and cause discomfort. Parking the vehicle in a warm garage temporarily thaws it, but it refreezes quickly once you drive it outside in cold conditions. The suspension repair will likely involve inspecting or replacing air suspension components and potentially adding protective measures against freezing.

NHTSA #: 11722290
Electrical System,visibility/wiper1 issue
highELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER
Filed: Mar 2026

Your rear sliding window frame has developed a crack that allows water to leak into the cabin during rain, snow, and car washes, with water pooling on the rear seats and trim. A dealership applied sealant according to manufacturer guidelines, but the leak continues and the crack is still visible. This water intrusion can damage electrical components, promote mold growth, and poses health risks, especially for child passengers in the rear seats.

NHTSA #: 11721478
Unknown Or Other1 issue
highUNKNOWN OR OTHER
Filed: Feb 2026

Your fuel pump shuts off prematurely while filling the tank, causing fuel to back up and spill out of the filler neck onto you, your vehicle, and the ground. It takes 15-20 minutes to fill the tank because the pump keeps clicking off instead of allowing fuel to flow consistently. This is caused by a faulty check valve and EVAP canister vent that aren't working properly. The fix will likely involve replacing the check valve and/or EVAP canister components to restore normal fuel flow during refueling.
