Your airbag warning light stays on continuously and doesn't turn off. This indicates a problem with your airbag system that needs to be diagnosed. A technician will need to read the airbag system's error codes to identify the specific issue and repair it.

NHTSA #: 11362056
criticalAIR BAGS
Filed: Jan 2020

Your car was in an accident and had its airbags replaced, but you're concerned the replacement airbags might be defective or unsafe. You want Toyota to inspect them by serial number to verify they're safe, but no one has addressed your request. Without a professional inspection, there's no way to know if the replacement airbags will function properly in a crash.

Your airbag warning light on the dashboard blinks on and off. This indicates a problem with your airbag system that needs to be diagnosed. A mechanic will need to scan your vehicle's computer to identify what's triggering the warning.

NHTSA #: 11021100
criticalAIR BAGS
Filed: Sep 2016

Your airbag warning light on the dashboard keeps flashing on and off. You've had it checked multiple times at authorized Toyota dealers, and they've temporarily fixed it by adjusting wires under the driver's seat, but the light returns after a few months. Because this problem keeps coming back unresolved, you're concerned whether your airbags will actually deploy in a crash. The fix will likely require a permanent repair to the airbag system's wiring or sensor connections, possibly replacing a faulty airbag sensor or control module.

Filed: Oct 2021

Your headlights are dimmer than normal while driving, even though there's no warning light on the dashboard. You've already replaced the headlights, but they're still dim. You discovered this issue is related to NHTSA recall campaign 09E025000 for exterior lighting problems. Fixing this may involve inspecting and repairing the headlight wiring, connectors, or the vehicle's charging system to ensure proper power delivery to the lights.

NHTSA #: 11438034
highEXTERIOR LIGHTING
Filed: Nov 2017

Your headlights produce very dim illumination and are barely visible at night, making it difficult to see the road. This creates a safety concern when driving after dark. The fix may involve replacing the headlight bulbs, checking the electrical connections, or potentially replacing the headlight assemblies if there's a design defect.

NHTSA #: 11046149
highEXTERIOR LIGHTING
Filed: Jan 2017

Your headlight lenses on both the driver and passenger sides developed a cloudy film that won't clean off and reduces visibility from your low and high beams. The lenses have been replaced multiple times, but the film keeps returning. Your front passenger low beam also shorted out and needed replacement. The manufacturer should use clearer lens material to prevent this recurring visibility problem.

Your aftermarket driver's side corner light won't stay on or work properly. The light may flicker or turn off unexpectedly. This could involve checking the wiring connections, replacing the bulb, or ensuring the aftermarket light is properly installed and compatible with your vehicle.

CrashFiled: Oct 2016

Your steering wheel suddenly locked while you were driving on the expressway at 35 mph around a curve, causing you to lose control and hit the cement barrier twice. The car was a recent purchase and was damaged severely enough to be salvaged. This steering failure likely involved the steering column or power steering system and may require inspection of the entire steering assembly.

Your check engine light has been turning on repeatedly for several years. Your mechanic has tried multiple fixes and spent hundreds of dollars, but the real problem appears to be a faulty evaporation vapor canister — a part that was the subject of a lawsuit against Toyota. Replacing this part costs over $400 and is needed to pass inspection. The repair typically involves replacing the evaporation canister and possibly the gas cap assembly.

Your check engine light has been coming on repeatedly over several years. After trying multiple repairs and spending hundreds of dollars, you've learned the likely culprit is a faulty evaporation vapor canister—a part that was apparently involved in a lawsuit against Toyota. Replacing this part costs over $400 and is necessary to pass inspection. Repairing this issue will require replacing the evaporation canister and possibly diagnosing related fuel system components.

Your front passenger seatbelt won't click into the latch when you try to fasten it. This means the passenger won't be properly secured in a crash. The seatbelt buckle or latch mechanism likely needs to be replaced or repaired.

FireFiled: Feb 2019

When you turned on the rear defrost, the rear window became extremely hot and caught fire within seconds, burning the back seat and seat belt and causing hand injuries. The fire appeared to be caused by an electrical problem, and you expected a fuse to blow before a fire would start inside the car. This is a critical safety issue, especially since the gas tank is located just inches below where the fire occurred.

Your 1999 Solara has three serious problems: the headlights are too dim even on high beam, the car unexpectedly accelerated to 90 mph before slowing down, and the engine shut off while driving, forcing your son to coast to safety. CrashFiled: Mar 2017

While driving to the store, your car suddenly accelerated on its own and wouldn't slow down no matter what you did. The only way to stop it was to shift the transmission into Park while the car was still moving, which caused it to go over a curb. This involved a crash.

Filed: Oct 2019

Your ABS (anti-lock braking system) and TRAC (traction control) warning lights came on when you started your car. Filed: Jul 2017

After getting new tires, your car pulls strongly to the left, requiring constant steering wheel pressure to stay in your lane at any speed. You've had the wheel alignment checked three times without resolving the issue. This could be caused by worn suspension components, a bent steering component, or a persistent alignment problem that needs further diagnosis.

Filed: Jul 2016

Your car accelerated on its own at highway speeds after you turned off cruise control, and the engine was idling roughly with very high RPMs. After investigation, you discovered a piece of paper had gotten past the air filter and jammed the throttle plate, causing the issue. Cleaning or replacing the air filter and inspecting the throttle body should resolve this problem.
