Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles. The second-row center and right-side seats may have insufficiently welded head restraint brackets. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints."
Risk: A head restraint bracket that is insufficiently welded may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Fix: Dealers will replace the 60% rear seat-back frame sub-assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 19, 2024. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 24TB04 and 24TA04.

The sunroof on my Camry would not close. I took it to Toyota in were they determined that the cables bound up in the track and the only fix was a new roof assembly. This is a safety risk because if the sunroof cannot close it allows the vehicle to be susceptible to outdoor elements as well as safety issues regarding theft.

Air Bags →2 issues
Your car was in a serious front-end collision that totaled the vehicle, but the front airbags failed to deploy when they should have. The other vehicle's airbags deployed normally, and you suffered head, neck, and upper back injuries that required emergency room treatment and have caused ongoing pain. The airbags showed no warning signs before the crash. A technician will need to inspect the airbag system's sensors, wiring, and control modules to determine why the system failed to activate during impact.

Your 2024 Camry was involved in a multi-vehicle chain-reaction crash where your car was hit from behind twice, causing you to hit the vehicle in front of you twice. Your airbags failed to deploy during the collision, and you sustained back injuries requiring medical attention. After the crash, your vehicle displayed an unknown warning light and became inoperable; the dealer determined the car was a total loss due to extensive front-end damage. Addressing this issue would require a full airbag system inspection and replacement, along with repairs to the vehicle's structural and electrical systems.

Seat Belts →2 issues
The right rear seat belt in your 2024 Camry failed to restrain a passenger during sudden braking at low speed, allowing them to slide forward and strike the front seat. The belt also failed to retract afterward, leaving excess slack for the rest of the trip. A faulty seat belt retractor mechanism or locking system may need inspection and replacement by a technician.

Your front passenger seat belt won't lock into place, causing constant loud warning sounds and making the seat unsafe to use while driving. This is a new problem that appeared after you purchased the vehicle from Enterprise Car Sales. The seat belt latch mechanism will likely need to be inspected and possibly replaced to restore proper function.

Power Train →2 issues
Your 2024 Camry's engine can be turned off and the key removed while the vehicle is still in Drive, with no warning lights or alerts. This allows your car to roll away, which is a serious safety hazard. Toyota dealership says this is normal operation, but it may violate federal rollaway prevention standards that require the key to be locked in the transmission until it's in Park.

Your 2024 Camry's transmission started having problems around 92,000 miles, and the issues have gotten worse by 109,000 miles—which seems early for a vehicle this new. You're concerned about your safety because a transmission shouldn't need major work this soon. A transmission repair or rebuild may be necessary to resolve the underlying mechanical issues.

Structure →2 issues
Your rear bumper cover suddenly detached and flew off while driving on the interstate at highway speeds without hitting any debris or objects. The dealership may not have properly inspected the vehicle before sale, as body shop technicians said this shouldn't happen on a properly maintained car. Since the bumper became a road hazard, reattaching or replacing the rear bumper cover and inspecting all attachment points will likely be necessary.

Your car's driver's side floor carpet is coming unglued near the brake pedal and won't stay fixed, even after multiple dealer repairs. The dealer confirmed this is a known issue with a technical service bulletin for it, but the problem keeps returning. This may eventually affect the pedal area or create a tripping hazard. The fix will likely involve permanently reattaching or replacing the carpet material in the driver's footwell.

After your 2024 Camry was repaired for a failing catalytic converter and misaligned trunk, exhaust fumes are still entering your vehicle. You've detected dangerous carbon monoxide levels (up to 315 ppm) using a handheld monitor, causing drowsiness and nearly leading to a crash, but your dashboard warning lights aren't alerting you to the problem. The dealer may need to re-inspect the catalytic converter installation, exhaust system seals, and trunk alignment to prevent exhaust from leaking into the cabin.

Your moonroof spontaneously shattered while you were driving on the freeway at highway speeds, making a loud noise like a gunshot. There was no impact, debris, or external damage — the glass broke outward in a spiderweb pattern consistent with stress failure rather than impact. You had heard occasional pebble-like sounds from the roof area for months before the failure. The dealer denied the warranty claim, but your car is still under warranty and under 2 years old with only 20,500 miles. A sunroof replacement or structural inspection of the moonroof assembly may be needed to prevent future failures.

Steering,air Bags,forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your car steered itself without any warning from the lane departure system. This happened without your input and resulted in a crash. The steering, airbag, and forward collision avoidance systems may all need inspection to determine why the car took control unexpectedly.

Service Brakes, Hydraulic, vehicle Speed Control, lane Departure →1 issue
Your 2024 Camry's braking system is activating on its own at various speeds, causing unexpected deceleration. The dealer and Toyota's field representative were unable to identify the cause, though Toyota suggested both pedals were pressed simultaneously—something you dispute. Additionally, the Lane Departure Warning system has malfunctioned and steered your vehicle toward oncoming traffic. Both issues remain unresolved. A thorough diagnostic of the brake control module and lane-keeping assist system may be needed to identify the root cause.

Unknown Or Other, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your Hybrid Camry experienced a sudden hybrid system malfunction at a traffic light that caused the car to accelerate unexpectedly, resulting in a collision with the vehicle ahead. You attempted to brake but couldn't stop the car in time. The vehicle sustained significant damage and was towed to the dealership, where it has remained for nearly 40 days without resolution while you've been without transportation. The repair may require a complete hybrid system diagnosis, replacement of damaged cooling system components, and thorough inspection of the acceleration control systems.

You believe the dealership and manufacturer may not be providing accurate vehicle history documentation (MCO) for your new 2024 Camry, and you suspect the vehicle title may have been altered or the odometer rolled back. You're concerned they haven't reported the correct vehicle details to the DMV. This is a potential fraud issue rather than a mechanical problem with the vehicle itself.

Exterior Lighting →1 issue
Your headlights aren't projecting light far enough down the road, making it difficult to see while driving at night—they appear to be pointing downward. You brought your car to the dealer and were told the headlights match other 2024 Camrys and nothing can be done unless Toyota issues a recall. You've found similar complaints from other owners online.

Tires →1 issue
You noticed that your rear driver's side tire (a Firestone FT140 205/65R16/95H) was bulging outward near the rim after it was rotated from the front of your vehicle. This is the original tire on your 2024 Camry, and the bulge appeared at around 14,893 miles. A bulging tire is a safety concern and typically cannot be safely repaired.
