2015 Ram 1500 Steering Problems

The EPS(Electronic Power Steering) get a little bit hard at slow speed and sometimes you need to use more hand power to steer the vehicle. You can turn off and turn back on the truck and the problem is gone, you dont know when is going to happen again.

The air suspension on my 2015 ram 1500 has been failing (blowing fuses while driving, freezing up and failing to inflate before startup) each winter for the past three years. As mentioned above, the system can fail while operating the vehicle, due to blown fuses from an electrical short in the system. It also can just fail to inflate on cold days.

Drove from North Carolina to Wisconsin [XXX] for a vacation, second day, [XXX], in Wisconsin went to start up my truck and had a "Service Power Steering" light appear on my dash. I started researching the power steering figuring that I need fluid only to learn that the power steering is an electrical assist system.

Power steering went out. There is an open recall for RAM 1500s that mine needs to be added to. I called in March after it happened.

I was driving my ram 1500 and the steering all of a sudden got really hard to steer. It felt like it locked up on me. It broke free.

My truck's electric power steering is failing and should be added to the current investigation RQ 23-003. I am hopeful that you will make a decision to order FCA to replace, at no charge, all of the affected electric power steering units on Ram 1500 trucks, including mine.

The electronic power steering component itself is failing. When turning the steering wheel one way the wheel will jerk the opposite direction and be very difficult to turn due to the power steering failing. An indicator light on the instrument panel comes on that states to service the steering control system and then shuts off by itself.

The electric power steering has slowly become sluggish. At first I noticed the steering wheel was not returning to center after a turn and I would have to assist steering the truck back straight. This started maybe a month ago and being mechanically inclined I thought maybe it was an alignment issue (not enough caster possibly).

I was driving to work one morning and my power steering just stopped working and the service power steering light lite up and luckily I was about to pass a gas station so I had to slow way down to turn the steering wheel to get into the lot I pulled to the gas pump to get fuel and shut the truck off and was hoping it would reset which it did but now when the truck is setting still running you can't turn the steering wheel unless you give it gas and start moving and it'll start working again.

Truck loses power when you accelerate at any various moments. Forces you to put it in park and then I'll have to restart the engine and then it'll drive normal like nothing happen. Power steering is a little hard which cruise control doesn't work when this is happening.

During colder weather the power steering does not work. Any time the temperature is below 65 the light blinks and there is no steering. Even after cleaning battery connections well and replacing the fuses it does not work.

The vehicle had a sudden loss of power steering. The vehicle is difficult to turn right or left.

In June of 2023 my ABS module went out part #68228991AD was told part was on back order till September 2023, this has continued so that as of this date I'm being told that expected part availability is April 2024. This part is a crucial Saftey part for the use of this vehicle. Beyond the lack of ABS breaking or traction control, the vehicle has lost cruise control, & brake control on a hill.

Whenever the ambient temperature gets below 40 deg F, the "Service Power Steering" warning message appears and the steering doesn't work. The fuse is OK. The battery is OK.

Electric power steering randomly stops working. Can be very dangerous when you’re turning sharp and expecting it to return to center after the turn and it doesn’t.

going around a curve and the steering wheel locked up. The steering wheel is unresponsive at times and seems to have dead spots when turning. There is also a dry screech when turning the steering wheel at low speeds.

The electric power steering fails when in low temperatures, Usually below 40 degrees. After the truck gets up to temperature the power steering starts working. It has not been inspected by anyone and it is unknown if it could be available for inspection.

Electric power steering has failed on the vehicle. We are aware of a recall on trucks manufactured at the same time and wonder if our vehicle should be included in the recall.

I was driving down the highway at 65 when all of a sudden I lost my steering. No warning or anything.

Power steering went out while driving. This is a common problem with this year truck. I spent $3600 on a new rack and pinion.

Steering issues, it is becoming difficult, as the steering wheel is getting harder to turn at times or either to loose. The steering is partially crooked as well. I have had an alignment completed on 8/3/2023, but the issue is still there.

Power Steering Assist is random. The steering is difficulty randomly changes between easy to difficult causing unexpected steering changes. This Electronic Power Steering (EPS) unit is NOT part of a similar recall (NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000); however, the symptoms are identical.

My steering has been getting stiff lately, on both right and left turns as I'm driving. My husband first noticed it about a week and a half ago. My ball joints and tire rods are in excellent condition, no uneven wear on my tires.

When outside temperatures are below 20 degrees the power steering does not work. After the motor warms up I can turn the engine off and restart and then the power steering will work

While driving the veichle when trying to make a turn all assist was gone.

Power steering has started to turn hard at times when turning corners. It will turn a little bit fine and then become extremely hard to turn for about 6 inches on the steering wheel. It will do this 3 times or so depending on how sharp you try to turn.

Randomly loses power steering while driving

While driving down the road,I was going to make a left turn. As I turn the wheel it felt like it hit a wall and I couldn't turn anymore. I have takin it to multiple shops to have it scanned and looked at because there is no code being thrown on the dash.

I am having an issue where my electric rack and pinion is giving out. This creates a lack of power steering for my vehicle. This is the same issue listed in recall vb9 but my VIN number is not associated with the recall for some reason.

My steering on this ram 1500 has been noticeably stiff lately when turning. I looked for common complaints from other ram owners and found a recall (s19) for rams manufactured between jan and sept of 2015 - my ram was manufactured in april 2015. I feel that this ram should also be included in this recall

The left hand controls on the steering have quit working. The is no way to reset the oil change error after changing the oil. You can not use any of the left hand controls.

I was driving on the interstate when my fuel gauge dropped to empty and my range showed 0 miles to empty. Doesnt do this everytime I drive, but it does this on occassion. Also, I started my truck one day and the power steering went out.

Vehicle is struggling really hard to turn just going around a curve in the road. This is making it very unsafe to drive due to having to strong arm every turn of the wheel and not being able to make sudden turns in the event it is necessary. I believe it is the power steering that has failed.

I was having the oil changed. When they started it to pull it out the power steering warning came on and I did not have any power steering.
