2015 Ram 1500 Fuel System Problems

After your vehicle had recall service to replace the high-pressure fuel pump at a Ram dealership on March 25, 2025, a high-pressure fuel line ruptured on April 7 while driving at highway speeds. Fuel sprayed into your engine compartment near hot engine parts, creating a serious fire risk and causing your engine to lose power—you needed emergency towing. The service records show the fuel lines weren't replaced during the recall work, even though these are single-use components that must be replaced whenever removed to seal properly under pressure. The dealer may need to properly replace the high-pressure fuel supply lines with new OEM components.

Gas tank straps corroded and broke off, causing gas tank to drop down off truck. Repair garage noticed and caught before caused a fire/accident.

On July 2, 2021 my 2015 ecodiesel was given a software flash due to recall W58. This recall deals with the delamination of the tone wheel/CSPS and makes the vehicle rapidly lose acceleration. Instead of being an actual fix, the software simply put a band aid on the issue, by rerouting the tone wheel and sending to a different sensor.

The HPFP failed 9/15/23 in my ecodiesel traveling down the freeway in three lane traffic. I lost all acceleration , power. no brakes or power steering, I was nearly killed by several semi's because I lost all speed.

There is a safety recall on this vehicle, recall number 22V-406, issued in June 2022, which still has no remedy. We are concerned about the safety of this vehicle and my wife has had many instances where she was trying to accelerate into traffic, and the vehicle stalled. This has been an ongoing issue, and we are afraid one day this will lead to an accident.

The reason for the submission is regarding the unresolved safety recall, NHTSA Recall Number22V-406. Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available Summary Some 2014-2020 MY Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with a 3.0L diesel engine may have been built with a high pressure fuel pump ("HPFP") that could fail prematurely.

Component: front fuel tank strap frame "t-slot" bracket corroded to the point where metal won't hold the load of the fuel tank and front fuel tank strap is detached causing the fuel tank to drop.

My vehicle with under 70k miles recently purchased from a used dealer had a severe problem the gas gauge showed empty a few minutes after showing 1/2 tank I was driving to work on thankfully I was able to pull into a gas station and was not stranded on the middle of the road as to impede traffic and cause an accident.

My vehicle is completely stock and have never been modified. After the advance engine modification (v08), I notice a delay on the throttle. Scary enough to not being able pull out of the way of accident is about to happen.

I purchase a 2015 ram 1500 eco-diesel in december 2015. On june 1, 2119, the dealer performed the court approved eco-diesel modifications in conformance with epa mandate. I submitted my claim to fca on june 3,2019.

While driving on the highway the engine and fuel lights turn on plus the fuel needle moved to empty knowing I just filled up one day earlier. After doing some research I found out it was the fuel sensor. Other dodge owners also experienced the same problem after the vehicle mileage reached 60,000 or over.

The engine light came on while driving, so I brought it to the dodge dealer. The ran a test and it shows a fuel sensor error. The dealership informed me that this is happening a lot and if not fixed soon it could cause a fire.

I purchased my 2015 ram 1500 outdoorsman back in december. I have been having nothing but issues with it not even 5 minutes after the truck was delivered to my house and I signed the papers, my salesman had just left my house I go out to start it and would not start. The truck kept trying to turn over but was not getting fuel to the engine.

After having recall 22v-406 completed on November 24,2024 I am nearing time to complete a fuel filter change which after having this recall completed specifies a particular part number requirement and this fuel filter pn 68632011AA is not available anywhere, so now I am at risk for my filter getting clogged and my vehicle stalling and if a gas station gets gasoline put in the diesel tank and it gets put in my truck I cannot use my truck until the systems is drained, clean and filter replaced.

On August 27, 2023, on my home my 2015 RAM 1500 Eco Diesel lost all power at 70 MPH and the "Electronic Throttle Control" light came on. I was able to get my truck home in "limp mode" and had it towed to the dealership the next day (August 28, 2023).

Bought the truck July 2022 and since then its been problems with stalling. The vehicle cuts off driving down the road. It can happen once a day or 5 times and restart.

Dodge/ram has knowledge of a faulty fuel sensor failure on ram trucks that can cause a driver to become stranded due to a sudden loss of fuel level readings. The sensor is prone to failure as early as 20,000 miles. There are lots of online newgroup complaints about this issue, and dodge/ram has representation on those groups, as well, so they are aware of the issue.

The check engine light, fuel sensor error, and the fuel needle moved to empty, light comes on flashing fuel sensor fail. This started happening at around 68000 miles. I have been told I will have to drop the gas tank and replace the fuel pump.

32 gallon optional fuel tank installed. Dash board fuel gauge indicator shows e for empty and zero miles to empty on digital display. Filled 32 gallon tank and it only took 25.7 gallons.

After few hours of research I found a part number to order replacement fuel filter required for use from Recall 22v-406. After passed onto by FCA and reaching out to Mopar who passed me onto local dealer and research on various forums I found a part number 68632011AA for the fuel filter so I thought.

While driving, I suddenly heard a loud metal on metal grinding noise. After getting off the road, other drivers stopped to report that there was a large "shower of sparks" coming from beneath my vehicle. Upon further inspection, I found that the forward fuel tank strap frame mount had completely corroded through.

The check engine light has been on and the code and a message of fuel sender unit failure is on the message being displayed. The vehicle always shows empty even when filled. I never know if the the car is going to run out of fuel while I'm diving it on the road or highway.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where an inspection was completed; however, the contact received no response after the completed inspection.

My truck has an issue with reading how much gas is in the truck. When I fill it up it goes to full but after about 40 miles it shows empty and the check engine light comes on. The vehicle has about 66500 miles on it.

Safety recall 22V-406 was issued over two years ago, on 6-9-2022. The manufacturer is negligent, in that it has not addressed the problem and repaired the vehicle in a timely manner. The local dealer indicates they have no idea when the manufacturer will attempt to address the problem.

The dealership and Ram are refusing to fix my fuel pump because it’s older than 2020. They are saying they’re doing it by newer to older vehicles. I’ve been tryin to get my truck fixed as the pump is making squeals and tapping.

Fuel sensor failure warning w/ accompanying check engine light. Fuel gauge non-functional. I ran code on it (forget the exact code) but YouTube mechanic showed how to fix by changing out the Fuel Sensor, which I did.

Driving approximately 80 MPH on the interstate when the truck completely shut off-total power failure. I was lucky and able to pull off, once I took the key out the truck started. Took to the dealer who stated they couldn’t duplicate the issue.

HPFP failure causing frequent sudden decrease in propulsion while driving which is in turn endangering me & my family including young children as well as other drivers on the road. The check engine light 100% came on immediately & has been on & off intermittently until about a week ago where it is lit continuously. I am no longer able to drive my vehicle which is needed desperately for work. I immediately reached out to Dodge Ram who states there will not be an available repair for this recall until 2023. I just bought this vehicle 45 days ago & am making payments on it. There must be something that can be done expeditiously. I cannot make these payments if I loose my job. Please reply ASAP.

Rusted out area on chassis/bracket causing front fuel tank strap to detach and hang, no longer supporting fuel tank.

Loss of power. Unable to get vehicle to highway speed. Loss of fuel economy. I looked at FCA and NHTSA sites and see a fuel pump recall for my vehicle issued in June. Called local dealer Fury motors in Stillwater, MN where I am currently and was told by service dept that there won't be anything FCA will do before 1st qtr of 2023. I am stranded here with a disabled vehicle. I live in Colorado.

Driving on interstate 65 mph there was a sudden loud grinding sound from under my truck. I pulled over and found my gas tank hanging . I was able to slowly get to and area where i could safely see what happened after looking at gas tank i found that the front gas strap rusted threw the frame and the full gas tank fell down and was hitting the drive shaft. I was able to jack up the tank and put a strap around it and drive home 183 miles . I was lucky it did not hit the road as the tank was full of gas.

As I was driving to work I noticed a noise coming from under / middle of the truck. Once parked I looked underneath and realized my front fuel tank strap had rusted off and my tank was hanging low and held by only the rear strap.

Fuel level sensor continues to stop working causing my engine light to come on. I am not aware if I will run out of gas or not. This repair process is well over $700 unless I do myself which I dont have tte equipment to take my bed off my truck.

Fuel sensor failure, without any warning fuel gauge drops to empty while in motion, not knowing the cause had to pull to the side of the highway to see if there was a leak or puncture. Researching the internet this seems like common problem that ram will not address .

Went to get fuel because my guage showed it was low. Attendant tried to fill it and said it was full. He tried again and fuel just came out.

The vehicle is at approx 58,000 miles and the well documented fuel sensor failure has illuminated on the dashboard. This happened shortly after filling the tank to full and a drive of about 60 miles. In addition to the fuel sensor failure, the check engine light is illuminated, which disables eco mode.

2015 ram 1500 with 69,000 miles on it and the check engine light comes on when truck gets to a half tank of gas had the code checked p0463 fuel sensor level. Now I never know how much fuel is in the tank because cant trust the fuel gauge while traveling also truck wont start with remote start with check engine light on. From doing some research this seems to be a very common problem .

First time gas cap problem....replaced it ck engine light would go off...had to leave truck at dealer 4 days😡! Next gas tank neck had to replaced ......left truck at dealer 2 days😡 next gas pump shuts off as if tank is full even though it has only quarter tank .......

Fuel sensor unit failure resulting in vehicles inability to read how much fuel vehicle has. A known issue for year make and model of truck. Fca has failed to issue a recall which should have been done long ago.

Fuel sending unit issues around 80 k miles sends error codes and check engine lights . Checked on multiple forums many consumers are having the same issue and it's not covered under warranties. It's a continuous problem around half a tank.

After emissions modification, check engine light comes back regularly with a code p026c, which has something to do with fuel pressure not being correct. Dealer is unable to determine the cause.

My truck was involved in the epa lawsuit against fca for the ecodiesel. The settlement involved me taking the truck to the dealership for a software change. Under the agreement it was not supposed to affect the drivability of the truck.

My 2015 ram has almost 32,000 miles . The check engine light came on yesterday after filling up my tank. It throws a code fuel sensor fail and fuel low.

The check engine light is on in many dodge ram 1500 pickup trucks. Indicating there is a fuel sensor problem. If you use the remote start the engine it automatically shuts down within 15 seconds as if you have no fuel.

Fuel sensor fail warning comes on. When I fill my tank it is fine until appx 50 miles while driving my fuel gauge drops to empty. And the check engine light stays on now.

The fuel sensor goes out. It seems fca knows of this but not doing much to fixing it. Complaints on utube also.

Left dealer and drive approximately 100 miles. Stopped at a gas station to top it off. Pump shut off when it was full.

The truck shuts off while driving,and must be manually guided to safety so that the vehicle can be restarted. This occurred three times on this date and was taken to the dealership the next day. The truck did shut off for them as well during their testing.

Failing fuel pump

On Friday, August 15, 2025, while leaving a grocery store, my wife pointed out that a part was hanging under my truck. After checking, I noticed that it was one of the two straps that supports the gas tank. It had dropped 3 inches from its original location and was only supported by one strap (the rear one).

I looked under the truck before a long trip and found a gas tank strap hanging oddly. Upon looking further into discovered the mount has rusted through. Doing some online research I have found this is a fairly common issue.

Fuel Tank strap (Front) disconnected from the frame slot it is attached to. The frame slot is completely rusted out. This was a recall on earlier models and amended to include other years including my year (2015).

Fuel pump gauge not working. Fuel Gauge has failed to acknowledge any gas. It came on and off for a few days now for 2 days straight it stays on with a low fuel level and the gauge read zero.

Took my truck in for engine light. Was told unfixable recall and they can’t give me vehicle back. That vehicle is my life.

Front Strap on gas tank failed while driving. Gas tank almost fell out and 2nd strap getting ready to fail. Completely pulled out of the frame.

On occasions too numerous to list the engine suddenly loses power. This has been very, very dangerous, especially on the interstates. The recall on the fuel pump was issued in June and 5+ months later still no solution.

P0364 fuel sensor failure. Gas instrument gauge suddenly goes empty while in motion and no longer works. Defective fuel sending unit sensor.

I was driving down the highway and my vehicles fuel sensor failure light came on and my fuel gage dropped to empty. When I put fuel into n it went off and it does it when my fuel gage drops below half full.

Fuel sensor/pump module failure. Truck would read low or empty fuel even when the tank was filled up. The issue occurs when it is running or stationary.

I had the aem recall and the truck is extremely sluggish until it is completely warm. Even if it sits for 1/2 hour or more it is very unresponsive for about 10 minutes. Hard to cross an intersection etc.

My fuel sensor fails after 30 miles into filling my gas tank. This began at about 50,000 miles and continues every time I fill the tank.

When filling the truck with fuel cann't remove the gas nozzle. Have a hard time every time I fill my truck. Some has to help me.

2015 ram 1500 with 55,555 miles. The fuel sensor fail (p0463). This occurred first while driving 55mph with just over 3/4 tank.
