ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Ram 1500 and 2014-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L diesel engines. The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.
Fix: FCA US will notify owners, and dealers will update the powertrain control module software to maintain vehicle propulsion by reading the camshaft position signal in the event that the crankshaft position signal is lost, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 13, 2021. Owners may contact FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-2002. FCA US's number for this recall is W58.
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE (EGR VALVE)
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 1500 Classic Pickup trucks equipped with 3.0L Eco Diesel engines. The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler may crack and allow pre-heated vaporized coolant to enter the EGR system. This mixture may combust inside the intake manifold.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the EGR cooler, free of charge. Dealers will also inspect and, as necessary, replace the intake manifold. The recall began April 16, 2020. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is VB1.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L Diesel engines. The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate, causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.
Fix: Dealers will update the powertrain control module software to maintain vehicle propulsion, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 3, 2023. Some owner notification letters were mailed October 31, 2023. The remaining owner notification letters will be mailed at a future date, anticipated July 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 66A. This recall is an expansion of recall 20V-475.

Imediately following z46 recall my vehicle lost all motive power on the interstate. No warning lights etc. Dealer who performed recall took no responsibility and explained my engine has seized.

On [XXX], I was driving my 2015 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel in [XXX] when all of the sudden it will not accelerate and a check engine lamp illuminated. It was a near-miss to getting into an accident because the truck drastically slowed-down and wouldn't continue to accelerate.

I believe that Ram and It’s parent company have intentionally not provided a recall fix for recall z46. If Ram refuses to provide a fix for the problem, and I’m forced to drive the vehicle that could stall and crash at any time is absolutely a safety hazard. I’ve contacted Ram cares and was told that if I’m not comfortable driving the vehicle, to just park it and wait for a fix.

I’ve experienced 3 separate incidents with this truck that resulted in the engine shutting down while in transit as follows: 12/6/2019: engine stalled when accelerating up a hill. Used momentum to pull mostly out of traffic lane. Towed to dealer where crankshaft positioning sensor was replaced under an extended warranty associated with the Ram Ecodiesel emissions related class action settlement.

I have flawlessly taken care of my Ram truck. My check engine light came on P0303, cylinder 3 misfire. I had to replace the camshaft and lifters on both sides of the engine due to a continuing design flaw in the Hemi engine.

The document that ram sent to me said: "it is extremely important to take steps now to repair your vehicle to ensure the safety of you and your passengers." and it also said that potentially there could be an engine fire! Hello I just saw the recall for.the ram 1500 no :20v-475 which is a common failure part on those truck. Another major failure part on those truck is the main bearing on the crankshaft. When they fail the base of.the motor explode and is a total loss.

On 10/31/2019 , fca issued recall vb1/NHTSA 19v-757 , for a possible fire hazzard on 2014- 2019 ram 1500 trucks with the ecodiesel engine. They did not have a fix for the problem , at that time. In early april of 2020, I recieved another recall notice, stating parts were now available , and to call my dealer , to schedule an appointment to have the recall completed.

NHTSA 19v-757 was issued for the referenced VIN 24oct19. I had an egr cooler failure on 27aug19 the egr cooler was replaced by grapevine dodge, chrysler, jeep ram with the attached part number before the recall was issued, and was the only part available at the time. I recieved notice of the recall 24oct19 and learned the redesigned part would not be available until april 2020.

There is a considerable difference in throttle response currently upon initially starting vehicle. It makes it quite difficult for the truck to accelerate as intended shortly after starting. There have been several incidents already in which I have had to stomp on the accelerator to avoid a collision as I was not expecting the truck to crawl along versus it's standard acceleration.

Had recall done on my ram 1500 ecodiesel truck now has no power shifting is erratic and sometimes delayed exhaust gases are now coming into cabin area and today the truck started popping back I have already taken truck back 3 times to the dealer and each time it is worse they also did some type of upgrade to the safety restraint system making this vehicle totally unsafe for highway use if the door is not closed right or if someone opens door the vehicle slams itself into park this vechile was a nice truck when I bought it now its a moving deathtrap chrysler needs to start some type of buy back program

I received a safety recall notice on 12/4/19 from fca us. It states there may be a problem with the egr cooler which may result in a fire and risk of injury/property damage. Per fcs recall "the remedy for this condition is not currently available" I don't like the idea or do I want to take a chance that this fire could happen to me and my family as I operate this vehicle.

After having the fca approved aem recall accomplished, my truck could no longer maintain speed up hill, wouldn't downshift properly, increased def usage, decreased fuel economy, extremely bad turbo lag (3-5 seconds on average and up to 10). Took it to the dealership and they diagnosed the problem as an intake manifold. They replaced the intake manifold and 2 injectors.

Ram flashed the computer on my truck to comply with the diesel emissions lawsuit. When I left the dealership after the flash and tried to enter the traffic lane the truck barely responded to the throttle. There was a huge delay and if not for a pull off area I would have been in an accident.

I had recall v08 and some other recalls performed at local ram dealer, the emissions modification has left my truck very sluggish (throttle unresponsive) when engine is cold. Twice since computer was flashed I have pulled out to cross traffic and truck would not accelerate as it did prior to flash. I was told the flash would not change performance and mileage but both have been affected.

This vehicle was associated with an emissions recall for its 3.0 liter ecodiesel engine. An aem 'flash' was done to the ecm module, and after that was performed (as part of the emissions recall) the engine's acceleration - previously very responsive - is dangerously lacking.

Was driving in town not towing or loaded, truck stumbled like out of fuel. I pulled over and raised the hood and saw smoke coming from passengers side under the engine cover at the egr, egr cooler. With a fire extinguisher handy I pointed it under the engine cover putting the fire out on that side but the diesel fuel from the burnt plastic hose spread to the other side catching that side on fire.

Engine in the truck failed while driving down the highway, started loudly knocking and lost power, by the time I was able to get pulled over to the shoulder the cab of the truck filled with smoke, the smoke in the cab was thick enough that it was difficult to see. Eyes were watering and was difficult to breath, the smoke was coming out from under the hood of the truck.

On three separate occasions the truck engine died without warning. And I was unable to restart. The eco diesel engine in my truck on the third incident, totally seized up and I was told the engine was finished and the dealer would try to get me a new one.

I was driving down the interstate at 70 MPH when my engine shut down and I was forced to coast to a stop. I got my truck towed to a shop and further inspection revealed the engine rod bolts had backed out and allowed the rod to come off of the crankshaft. My truck only has 71,000 miles on it and after further research found this to be a fairly common issue in comparison to other engines.
