2017 Nissan Rogue Other Problems

AC HVAC driver side where the blend door slot for actuator is stripped. The AC is stuck at heater and with out any AC in this heat I almost pass out while driving and almost hit people in the side walk but since it has a curve it hit my right side bumper on a bushes.

The collision light came on and everywhere online says it’s a recall but Nissan doesn’t show it as a recall in their system. It states the the car will stop suddenly when light comes on thinking cars are around but nobody is around. It’s not safe.

I have water leak and mold growing in the passenger side of the vehicle for about a month. I took car to Rockaway Nissan, where I bought the vehicle. The dealer Stated that, they found sunroof drain hoses clogged with water and debris causing back flow of water into cabin which they claimed cleared and tested for leak and should remedy the issue.

Was notified about a recall on my vehicle the beginning of February 2022 and have been in contact with my local Nissan dealer several times. It is now August and their has been no more notification on a possible repair for a safety recall on my vehicle. called multiple times at least once per month.

The sunroof on my 2017 Nissan Rogue exploded. I was driving down the freeway (paved), no cars in front of me for as far as I could see. Outside temperature was 100-degrees, driving roughly 60-65mph.

Sometimes the crash warning light turns on without a reason I had taken the truck to dealership for this and I was told it’s because it is stopping me from crashing but I don’t see how if there are no cars on front of me or anything at all also a lot of times the car will start shaking when stopping or accelerating again I call the dealership and nothing has been done

23 October approximately 1430 hours. 2017 Nissan Rogue stalled on highway , no dash lights were on, no power. Had to coast to shoulder of highway.

My 2017 Nissan Rogue has 39,000 miles on it, after I bought out my lease a few months ago I noticed in warmer weather and when the engine and transmission are good and hot, I am having trouble accelerating.

Our 2017 nissan rogue sv was parked, completely turned off in our driveway when a neighbor witnessed sparks start to shoot from under the hood. Within minutes the entire car was in flames, it was completely destroyed.

My daughter leased a 2017 nissan rogue sv AWD and on a least 2 occasions (11/17 & 2/19) the aeb (automatic emergency braking) system suddenly activated on its own for no apparent reason as there was no vehicle or other obstruction in front. This happened at highway speeds but thank god no accident occurred. We have lost all confidence in the vehicle and look forward to turning it in.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE STREET AND A CAR MADE A TURN IN FRONT OF ME AND MY FRONT COLLISION THING DID NOTHING.

There is an issue with the front-end collision sensor causing the vehicle to falsely register an obstruction causing the vehicle to stop. On several occasions I had the sensor trip going at speeds lower than 30mph. Normally it was when there was a dip in the road or near railroad tracks.

The rogue caught fire after being parked for 12 hours. The car burned completely to the ground. It happened around 4:00a and no one was in the vehicle or around the vehicle when it occurred.

While driving on I-5 on a clear sunny day the panoramic sun roof exploded for no apparent reason.

Three times I have been driving down the road at approximately 35 - 45 MPH with no obstructions or vehicles when the car suddenly beeped the collision warning and automatically applied the brakes and almost completely stopped the vehicle. I was almost rear ended on two occasions by the vehicle that was behind me as there was no reason to stop.

Driving down the freeway and the sunroof exploded,it was not hit by anything.

Was driving down the highway at 55mph when I heard a loud explosion like a bomb went off. I could then hear air blowing through the car. I pulled off the highway only to realize the sunroof, which had been closed, had completely exploded.

The sunroof exploded. I was driving on the highway and the sunroof exploded. It was 27 degrees fahrenheit out.

Has forward emergency braking which never works as advertised and presented by nissan. A crash will result every time if you fail to brake. Dealer says system is aligned and there are no codes, but it simply doesn't work.

I was driving down the highway around 9:30am on 10-27-17 when it sounded like a gunshot. I then heard glass raining down on the top of my sun shield. My sunroof had exploded.

On october 11, 2017, the vehicle's 'intelligent safety shield' feature cause the vehicle to unexpectedly brake while moving at approximately 65 MPH on the interstate 10 freeway. This malfunction nearly caused a serious accident which could have resulted in serious injuries. We immediately contacted the nissan dealer and they did have the vehicle towed to their service department for inspection.

The front windshield spontaneously exploded while the vehicle was cruising on interstate 5 around mark 195 in washington state around 11:30am. There was a smooth traffic with no big trucks around and no foreign objects flying over.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Transmission failed at 35K miles. I am getting the car fixed.

Intake manifold part number 14001-7FH0C broke down while driving. Vehicle would not accelerate, when taken to mechanic, the code indicated that the intake manifold needs to be replaced. Nissan is aware of this and I have a case number with them.

Transmission problems . It jerks , stalls when driving or having the car on for a long time .

My 2017 nissan rogue stalls when slowing down. After taking it to daytona nissan last week, they replaced the serpentine belt and air filter. ($500 later) it still stalls when slowing down and now stalls while idling at a traffic light.

CVT - transmission issues - car has 87k miles and transmission is slipping, jerking, revs but no power, changed transmission fluid and filters with nissan parts and still same issues. Car stopped accelerating on the highway causing immediate danger for driver and occupants. Driving on surface street at stop light, car will rev up to 4 but not move for multiple seconds and then lunges forward.

At 11,500 the car decreased in braking ability. The dealer was going to charge an enormous amount just to look at the brakes. Took the car to our reliable mechanic to receive the trust and not be ripped off.

We pulled up to a stop sign and stopped on a slight decline getting ready to make a right turn. The car beeped four or five times and the engine shut off. Restarted with no problem and have had no repeat of this.

My car is a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The transmission is going bad. This started about 3 years into ownership but was not consistent until this recent year.

On [XXX], my grandson and I went to the Nissan Dealership, 1777 N. Central Expressway, Richardson, TX 7080 to inquire about a safety recall of the key fob for a 2017 Nissan Rogue. My grandson was told that he could make an appointment for the dealership to insert a block in the fob so the key remains in the extended position. That position is very difficult to carry in a men's pants pocket. It is also a cheap remedy to the problem. As we were driving along the freeway to make a U-turn, the car stopped mid-turn, with oncoming traffic both behind him and in front. He tried to restart the car but it didn't start. He tried again and it finally started. I cannot believe the NHTSA would allow Nissan to treat this safety issue so callously just to save a few dollars. I am now constantly worried for my grandson and regret helping him buy this vehicle to attend college. We purchased the vehicle on [XXX] so we were checking things out. The muffler diffuser , a part of the exhaust system, suddenly and without warning failed as I was driving on the freeway. There were no warnings or indications of a problem until the passenger side joint failed as I was driving but the driver side joint was still attached and sticking out from the back of the car. This happened as I was driving on the freeway and when it happened I just heard a loud rattling sound. Since one side was still attached I was dragging/scraping the metal part on the freeway without realizing it, which could have caused a spark/ fire or if it had broken off completely an accident for myself or others. If it had continued to bend it could have gotten caught up in my wheels or worse. This is a hazard/danger in my opinion. The vehicle hasn’t been inspected by anyone other than my dad as of this moment. He was able to unscrew the diffuser so I could drive the car otherwise the car would have been a giant safety hazard and undriveable. The broken diffuser is still in my possession.

my Door Lock Actuator has failed on my passenger side front seat door. This poses a safety risk potentially trapping my family inside or allowing doors to swing open while driving. I could also think I locked my doors, however it did not lock and can lead to theft. In 2010, a different car I had was stolen and I still have anxiety about this, so this added level of potential theft has increased my anxiety when going places. My local Goodyear repair shop inspected the actuator and advised that it has failed. There were no warnings or messages that were presented when this started occurring. This started summer of 2025 and gets worse as time goes on.

Windshield Camera overheats causing Crash Sensor Warnings, Lane Departure will not work. Cruise control will also not work.

Three times in recent months vehicle has responded sluggish after coming to a stop. Two of those times were extended periods in stop amd go traffic greater than 20 minutes. 8/10/2024 event inexplicable as had stopped briefly and only driving for 5-10 minutes.

The liftgate has been malfunctioning. It will go up, and out of now where completely falls. It has fell on me and my 1 year old when I was getting something in the trunk and had to quickly throw my 1 year old into the trunk so he did not get injured, but it fell on my back.

Twice in two years the sunroof drains have clogged causing severe water leaking into the cabin of the vehicle. The first time, the dealer cleaned them out and took everything out of my car to clean it, including seats and carpet. Now they are saying I will have to pay for it.

I was contacted by the dealer via a letter indicating the vehicle could have a recall. I failed to ask them what it was when I called to make an appointment. When I visited the dealer's service department, I was surprised to be referred to a salesperson (you see, one of the options is for the car owner to sell their vehicle and get a new one).

The ignition key on the jack knife key fob unlocked itself into the folding position, which pulled the key out of my vehicle's ignition while I was in motion on a freeway going approximately 60 MPH on highway 99. My whole vehicle suddenly began slowing down without me realizing what had happened.

The heat and air conditioning unit having intermitant issue. Last year after 8 hr. Drive in 108 degree weather the air cond.

After doing errands or driving for more then about 45 mins when I come to a stop light complete stop then try to go the car goes no we’re revs up but doesn’t go then all of a sudden jolts forward now it’s everyday when I drive to just drop kids at school almost got hit twice because car would not go . Also there is horrible grinding sound now coming from back end sounds like

A/C does not work properly, air does not blow into the cabin no matter how high you turn the fan or if you change any of the settings. Brought it in for service on 9/11/19 the AC condensor-N was changed and freon added. Brought it in again for service on 3/17/20 the Mass air flow sensor-n was changed.

The windshield wiper recoil off has s leak and it drips into the blower for the heater and freezes. When this happens, the heater does not work at all. This causes visibility issues as the defrost/heater will stop working while you’re driving

2017 Nissan Rogue has 118k miles and never had a lick of problem, till this morning when the CVT failed. The dealership to where I purchased the used Rogue, stated that the transmission is the stated problem when plugged to the computer system. No specifics and now the cost to repair is $4,900.00.

At approximately 68,000 miles and in April 2021, my 2017 Nissan Rogue SL began exhibiting a lag in acceleration from a complete stop. Upon pressing the accelerator, there would be a 3-4 second delay before the engine and rpms would engage and the car would simply crawl forward in that time. I felt the need to try pumping the gas pedal to try to get it to go but that didn't help.

The sunroof of the 2017 Nissan Rouge has drains that are very inadequate and in my opinion defective. My 2017 Nissan Rouge had white mold growing in the carpet of the floor board before I discovered the floor board was wet under the mats (which were mostly dry.) There was no warning or instructions that the sunroof drains had to be cleaned periodically.

It seems the 2017 Nissan Rogue, as well as almost all other years of that make/model have a defect in the drainage system for the sunroof. The drain lines clog which leads to water accumulating significantly under the floor of the car. The initial indicator of this is a wet floor, not that big a deal.

The air conditioner in my Nissan Rogue has not been working. I have dropped my car at Nissan 3 times last year and the AC problem has never been fixed. We cannot drive in hot weather because it blows out hot air.

Both tailgate struts need to be replaced on a 2017 rogue I bought new. Single safe 64 year old driver. Very expensive to replace on such a new car bought because of nissan reputation

Nissan rogue 2017 ; whistle noise transmitted to call recipient when using bluetooth hands-free phone system

My car is nissan rogue 2017.5. I am facing an issue related to automatic emergency break malfunction. The emergency break was applied without any reason while I was going in parking garage, passing under bridges, and crossing railroad.

As with the many other complaints that I have seen and read about in articles, I've experienced the automatic emergency braking systems engaging even with no reason to be doing so, I.e. Clear space in front of me/no vehicles, no signs or barriers with in direct sight of the front of the vehicle.

On 4 different occasions within less than 60 days, my 2017 nissan rogue has tried to "stop" on its own while I have been driving for no reason. There is nothing in front of me on the sides of me or close behind me when it occurs. It has varied in the speeds I have been driving, it hasn't happened during one specific speed.

Car jerking when put in reverse and jerks going from a brake to accelerate. My car lasts jerks in the morning when out into reverse I'm about to drive it to work. I just bought this car!!!

Small particles were able to pass through condenser and hit where the freon is stored which made the freon leak. Not sure where or what kind of particles could pass through the condenser while driving on the freeway. Did go to a nissan dealership and was told they were unsure of what could go through the condenser to cause the damage.

'lease started in 08/17 (car has an auto senor (as)) '11/11/17: brought my car to the service center, as activated with no cars around. The shop scanned the system, said there was a radar stain. They cleared the system and gave it back '12/06/17: brought my car to the service center, as activated with no cars around.

When the vehicle is stationary, engine turned off a weird chirping/buzzing noise comes from the engine in intervals. The dealer is unable to duplicate, had the vehicle for 2 weeks. I have recorded it and sent to several mechanics, I see on youtube other owners have it as well, and nissan can't figure out what it is.

This car was purchased on 8-30-18, and on 9-4-18, the car would not start. I had to get a jump and then leave it on the charger for hours before the car would start. The car clicker did not work and the trunk lifter feature would not work.

(feb) forward emergency braking system faulty. I have filed another claim before this but there has been more development and answers to the unknown as to why it is doing this.

Vehicle randomly accelerates weird. When trying to accelerate from a stop sign or traffic light, it goes to 20 MPH and hesitates with gas pedal pushed. The rpms rev up to 4,000-5,000 RPM, but the car does not accelerate beyond 20 MPH.

There is a safety issue with the front braking system. There is even a document send to the nissan dealerships notifying them that it is a known issue, but there is no fix as of yet the engineers cannot even find a cause for the issue. I asked for a copy of the letter, but, of course, it is a "confidential" document and only privileged parties are able to have access to it.

The vehicle started shaking/vibrating heavily when sitting in traffic on a busy highway just three weeks after purchase with the check engine light going on the same day. It continue to have thump/shake/vibration when idling (parked or stop light) and going at reduced speeds (rolling off the gas pedal when parking or in heavy traffic) after multiple visits to the dealership.

AWD light warning are stay on while the driver side door lights are on

Nissan Rogue's rear door has a sharply angled edge (right below the outside door nob/handle), which can be dangerous for young kids. While getting out of the rear door, my son who is 4 years old hit his head on the angled edge of the door and cut his head. Looking at other cars in the same class, most other doors have smoothed angled edge or relatively straight edge with no angled edge.

The sunroof self combusted (not rock or object hit it) while driving on the freeway. It shattered and pieces were flying off until I could stop. I believe there is some defect with that glass and or the protective coating that causes this from what I have learned.

My mother and I opened the trunk to place a luggage inside, when a part of the rear hatch detached and hit us as it fell. The piece is plastic and has no warning sensors.

Car unexpectedly stopped during highway speeds, with no warning. Car went from 75mph to 0mph. Driver barely had time to be able to pull off to the side.

I was driving to work and it was about 3 degrees and sleeting. I couldn’t keep my windshield from icing over because the heater was not working right. I get to work, finally, and when I leave work that day my heater was not blowing hot air very much.

The car will not accelerate when the gas is pushed. It hesitates and jerks. Sounds like I'm trying to drive in neutral.

I left my car in park and running on the driveway. I went out to turn it off, opened the drivers side door and went to push the button to turn it off. The car started rolling down the driveway I tried to stop it as it rolled into the street.

Air Conditioner stops working on long drives roughly 45 minutes in. Cold air does not always come through the vents to the interior. You can hear the blower working, and the compressor working, but the air flow is very weak, even warm.

Sunroof shattered randomly.

THe transmission on my 2017 Rogue went out in the matter of minutes with no warning and has under $59,000 miles on it. It is not covered under warranty because it is a canadian vehicle.

CVT transmission gave out without warning well picking up my son from school.

The transmission is faulty and when driving in the freeway or even the streets I would notice that the car starts to jerk back and forth. Secondly I believe it unsafe whenever turning at high speeds the car feels as if it can tip over. Within my first month of purchasing the car there was tons of engine problems.

The forward emergency brake sensor malfunction this the second time I have taken back to nissan for this issue and all they say is that ( we can not recrate the issue) and there is nothing wrong with it it has done it a few times when going through intersection on city street s it has stopped in the middle of the road luckily for me there was no traffic behind me

Car slows down on it's own when driving down hill or the street.

We were driving smoothly on a 5n freeway and the car suddenly jolted and stopped at exactly 48k miles, no sensors were lighting up.I have to hazard light in the middle of the freeway turn off the engine and turn it on, same jolting movement but luckily I was able to steer it safe at roadside and ask for towing.

The rear lift gate automatic open function has stopped working. I have had the vehicle for two years and the gate no longer opens with the fob or when you kick under the vehicle.

My 2017.5 nissan rogue sv aeb went off with no warning or any threat of a automobile or person in the way. We were on a highway going 50 MPH straight. I had to serve so cars behind me wouldn't hit my car.

A/c does not work properly. With a/c on and in an mode the air being blown through the vents reduces over time until there is a complete absence of cool air. I must turn the a/c off for more than 20 minutes to have it work normally again, but it does that same after an even shorter amount of time.

This is my second report, I paid for an ABS control update for my nissan rouge 2017 and two weeks later my rouge started stopping again and slowing down again while driving it. I have kept this vehicle parked in my garage because I am very afraid to drive it because it is unsafe. I feel cheated because I'm still paying a note on a car that I cannot drive because it is unsafe for anyone.

My vehicle can go into gear with out keys or pressing the break.

The horn doesn't work reliably! Many times in critical traffic situations, the horn just will not work.

Driving down the street about 40 MPH with no one else around, thankfully, the rogues aeb started to kick in. The sensor area is clean and no reason for it to activate. Not the first time this has happened and seriously scared us.

Has all kinds of devices like some just dont feel right. Vehicle was stationary, in motion on the road

Vehicle was stationary, in motion , on a city street not only that I was locked out I called for assistant I waited for two hours then I call back to see if they going to be here operates lady she was very rude she told me leav nobody is going come and help pretty much she hang up on me I was stuck for 6 long hours .

Back driver window will not roll up or down.

Try to open on a highway either left or right window when you are 60 miles and up. And your ears could suffer severe damage.

While driving on the highway, the main moving glass of the panoramic sunroof shattered. This happened while the closest car in front of me was ~1/4 of a mile.

While driving at approximately 50 MPH down a country highway the sunroof shattered without warning. The road was clean and dry. I do not believe this was the result of a rock or bird..
