2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Other Problems

Driver side headrest deployed on its own while parked. No warning, no messages, no failures with the vehicle.

The headrests on both my drivers and passenger side popped out. This seems to be a reoccuring issue with Jeeps and it happened while I was driving. The airbags have not been deployed and I was not in an accident.

Component/System Involved: Active head restraint (headrest) – deployed without cause. The component is available for inspection upon request. I also have photos documenting the incident.

Safety mechanism on head rests on both driver and passenger seat both have deployed without an accident happening.

Driver side headrest deployed while parked overnight in my driveway. It is available for inspection. I was not in the car so no risk to myself or others.

We were just driving on the road when the passenger head rest deployed forward. We were not hit or parked anywhere, just normal driving through town. This sent a slight tingling sensation around back of neck and spine, now just sore later in the day.

Hello I’ve seen some oil leakage all over engine of car. Mechanic stated the oil filter housing has to be replaced but not covered under jeep warranty. car is driving ok for now .I’m at 79,000 miles.

Was driving down the road it was raining no other vehicles around BRAKING! came on the screen and the brakes were applied without me doing it. The second time it happened brakes locked up on interstate for a couple seconds then back to normal.

My wife was driving her vehicle on the highway at 60 MPH and heard a loud pop in her vehicle and came to realize the back portion of her panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded. She did not have her sunroof open at the time and the roof shade was closed thank God.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY MY ENGINE SHUT ITSELF OFF AND WENT INTO NEUTRAL. I NOTICED A LOT OF SMOKE/STEAM COMING OUT OF THE BACK OF MY CAR. I PULLED MY CAR OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED IT. I OPENED THE HOOD TO SEE IF I COULD SEE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS BUT WAS UNABLE TO IMMEDIATELY SEE THE ISSUE. THERE WAS A LOT OF STEAM/SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE HOOD. I GOT BACK IN MY CAR TO CALL AAA FOR A TOW AND WHILE ON THE PHONE I NOTICED AN ORANGE GLOW FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I IMMEDIATELY HUNG UP AND CALLED 911. THEN GOT ALL MY BELONGINGS OUT OF THE CAR AND AT THIS POINT THE FIRE HAD ENGULFED THE FRONT OF THE CAR. CHP AND FIRE DEPARTMENT SHOWED UP. THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS.*DT*JB

While driving, passenger headrest deployed. Plastic brackets inside headrest which keeps active headrest closed, has broken. Headrest no longer usable.

The active headrest on the passenger seat spontaneously deployed while I was driving to work. There was no rear end collision to cause the deployment. I was the only occupant in the car when it happened.

My wife was driving down the road when all of a sudden the driver side headrest deployed hitting her in the back of the head. Luckily there was no accident but she had to pull off the road to figure out what had hit her in the head.

The passenger active head restraint activated june 2019 on my jeep gc due to the plastic tabs on the headrest that hold the metal pin in place breaking. The pin was still held by the solenoid as it never activated. The design of this has constant spring tension on the pin and small plastic tabs fastening it to the headrest.

Head rest blew apart with no accident involved. Parked in driveway. No recall found related.

On 7/17/2019, I got into my vehicle to run errands to note that the passenger side headrest had exposed wires and was not in its' normal position. I had not been involved in any accident and there was no force applied to the headrest. I did not attempt to fix it as I know nothing about vehicles and didn't want to cause any further damage.

Active headrest restraint (ahr) deployed with no accident. Can was in my driveway. Dealership says part broke inside.

Approximately 1:00 pm on 6/9/2019 while driving on highway 5 in northern california the passenger headrest exploded open hitting my daughter in the head and neck who also happens to be 31 weeks pregnant

About 10 miles into my trip, on interstate 81 on straight roadway, dry pavement; speed 63 miles per hour; my vehicle began to loose power and my speed was decreasing. I pulled to the side of the road and my vehicle went black. I noticed smoke on the passenger side of car coming from under the hood.

Crash mitigation system misreads input. Goes off at wrong time or does not respond when needed. System responds irradically.

I shifted my car from drive to park and exited the vehicle parked in a gas station parked lot. As I exited the drivers seat and begun to step away I noticed the jeep was in motion (rolling backwards, towards me just steps away from the vehicle).because the driver side door was open it knocked me down on my face and then rolled over my legs with the front drivers side wheel.

When starting to drive and the vehicle shirt from first to second there is a major hesitation, also the car has a hard shift when changing gears. While breaking the vehicle lurches forward causing a jerking of passengers, and leaving me feeling like I'm going to run into the back of someone.

We were driving on the highway to maryland for thanksgiving, and while driving on the straight highway 60 miles an hour the sunroof just exploded and shattered, a lot of glass fell on top of our clothes and inside the car. It completely swerved the car but we didn't lose control and stopped at a gas station on one of the rest stops.

Driving at 38 MPH on local street with four people in car on a sunny day when the back window just exploded. The back had not been opened in a week. The car is less than three months old with 1570 miles on it.

Sunroof shattered while driving down highway on 2015 jeep grand cherokee. Sound of large crack then it shattered. Took it to certified jeep service provider (ancira jeep, san antonio, tx) and paul, the service manager, said he had never seen anything like this and something must have hit it.

Car stalls without warning. Car is able to cruise and brake until I can pull off to the side of the road. Car will restart after turning it off.

I put my car in park and ran in my house to grab my wallet. When I came back out, my Jeep had rolled down the driveway. The Jeep would crank but wouldn't move and there was a warning that said "service shifter." I had it towed to the Jeep dealership where I spent over $3,000 to have it repaired.

Oil pump assembly. The problem was confirmed by a independent service center. As I was driving down the highway at 40/45 MPH, I heard a knocking sound under the hood.

Our 2015 jeep grand cherokee has been experiencing stalling issues since october 2019. We have now had the vehicle in to earnhardt chrysler jeep dodge ram in gilbert, arizona for a total of 10 time and 70 days for the same issue. The jeep stalls when braking and slowing down which means you loose power steering and power brakes.

We have taken our jeep earnhardt chrysler dodge jeep ram service center 10 times and they have been unable to solve the problem when the vehicle stalls it creates a severe safety situation. When the jeep stalls you loose power steering and power brakes and the engine is dead.

The vehicle hangs in park. It will let you move the shifter but it stays in park. On the dash it shows vehicle in desired gear.

On pulling into traffic at intersections, occasionally the turbo does not kick in properly. No power for a couple of seconds while rolling slowly into traffic, then the turbo kicks in hard enough to skid the tires. Has nearly gotten us run over several times.

Since I had the exhaust emissions update done, my jeep has an extremely long lag in acceleration. It takes a good 2-3 seconds after stepping on the throttle, before the car moves forward. I was almost hit head on in traffic on a highway because of the timing of not accelerating properly.

Recall updated performed may 2019- after update diesel regeneration occurs every few days- this process only happened 2 times before the update was performed. Error messages/limp mode july 4, 2019- I received two error messages, 1. Diesel filter 100% full see dealer and 2.

While stopped at a red light the jeep went into neutral. I pushed it back into drive 3 times but it switches back to neutral on its own. The car then shut completely off and would not restart.

Jeep went in for service to correct the recalled transmission electronic shift lever on saturday, aug. 6th at 12:30pm. Picked up car from farrish jeep at 5pm same day.

I've waited 9 months for the so called fix for the gear shift lever that has caused multiple problems and near miss catastrophes and I brought it to the dealer who installed the software "fix" and now the car won't start- dashboard says" it does not recognize the key fob and it will not start in gear" headlights also start blinking when trying to start and door locks don't work.

Transmission shifts hard and lunges forward and and almost hit a pedestrian sometimes when sifting from reverse to drive it takes 5 or so seconds to respond

My engine oil is mixing into my coolant jug and radiator replaced the oil cooler housing and the issue still continues

Our Jeep will shift into neutral at random while driving. This has happened 5 times with in 2 years and twice on the same day. The most recent incident occurred on [XXX] while driving my wife and 3 week old daughter to Orange County.

Fuel pressure pump system RECALL, the dealership refuses to put the RECALL part on due to my vehicle not running. There has been more problems with my JEEP as well with the amount of recalls and malfunctions I have been in and out of the garage. Currently is being held at Roger Williams Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram- Weatherford TX.

The rear lift gate automatically closes after being raised to the open position. It descends with considerable force and has struck me in the head on multiple occasions. Despite discussing the matter with the Jeep dealership, I was informed that there is no active recall for this specific issue on my vehicle.

Was driving along normally and came to a stop and heard a big pile at the back of the car followed by a crinkling noise as I realized the rear glass was beginning to shatter. I looked at the person behind me to see if they may have seen something but they appeared to be completely unaware. I looked around to see if anything could have hit the glass but there was no evidence of that.

Today, July 22, 2023, my son (21 years old) was sitting in the driver's seat of our Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015 parked in a parking lot and he felt like someone punched him in the back of the head. It turned out to be the headrest (active head restraint) whacking him in the back of his head. The active head restraint pushed out and can't go back in.

The dashboard is bubbling up and peeling which causes a humming noise when driving above 60 miles per hour. I contacted the dealership and since my warranty has ended I was quoted a cost of $1800. I did see where there was a recall for this issue for previous models.

At low speed, electronic shifter shifts itself into neutral. Warning light comes on to put shifter back in drive. No engine light comes on, vehicle has not been inspected by anyone.

All the door hinges need replaced. Very difficult to open and close the doors. I called Jeeps headquarters and they gave me no info on this matter.

The vehicle shifter design on this vehicle enables the shifting of the vehicle into an undesired gear without driver knowledge. I have shifted into reverse countless times when trying to shift to park or neutral when trying to shift to drive. I was attempting to hookup a trailer at a slight incline when I needed to adjust the vehicle slightly.

Every so often water leaks in behind the control panel on roof and drips on my radio when at a slant .thinking its the seal around the sliding window.

TEARDOWN CYL HEADS FOR INSPECTION

LEATHER DASH HAS MASSIVE WRINKLES THAT POPPED UP VERY FAST AND SEEMINGLY OUT OF NOWHERE. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 39,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN WELL KEPT. AGAIN THE WRINKLES CAME FROM NOWHERE AND WORSENED WITHIN ONLY A COUPLE OF DAYS.

YES I AM DRIVING AN THE SERVICE SHIFTER COMES ON. IT HAS COME ON MULTIPLE TIME AND EVEN CHANGED THE GEAR I WAS IN WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON ITS OWN.

AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE I WAS GIVEN THE 2 SETS OF KEYS IN WHICH I CARRIED ONLY ONE KEY WITH ME WHEN I USE THE TRUCK. ON JUNE 28, 2020 MY PARKED AND LOCKED JEEP WAS STOLEN FROM A MALL PARKING LOT BY A CROOK/S WHO USED A LAPTOP TO UNLOCK AND START MY VEHICLE. I AM NOT ONLY HURT AND UPSET BUT I AM FERIOUS AND UTTERLY CONFUSED ON HOW A WELL DEVELOPED PUSH START VEHICLE WITH SUPPOSEDLY HIGH RANKING VEHICLE WAS STOLEN BY A LAPTOP. THIS VEHICLE WAS VALUED AT $18,000 AND A INDIVIDUAL WAS ABLE TO STEAL MY VEHICLE WITHOUT A KEY. I HAVE BOTH OF MY KEYS TO MY VEHICLE BUT I HAVE NO VEHICLE. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW CAN JEEP CREATE A VEHICLE AND SELL IT FOR $40,000 BUT THE VEHICLE IS NOT PROPERLY SECURED OR PROTECTED FROM CYBER AUTO THIEVES. I DIDNT GET A CHANCE TO ENJOY MY NEW VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS STOLEN 15 DAYS LATER AFTER I PURCHASED IT FROM A DEALERSHIP BY A CYBER AUTO THIEF. I AM GLAD THAT I HAVE INSURANCE BUT MY TRUST IN JEEP VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RUINED FROM THIS EXPERIENCE AND I CAN NOT RECOMMEND A VEHICLE LIKE THIS TO ANYONE WHOSE INTERESTED IN JEEP VEHICLES BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY IT'S NOT WORTH IT. I JUST WANT TO KNOW HOW CAN JEEP PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING OR IF THEY EVEN KNOW THAT THEIR VEHICLES CAN BE HACKED BY A LAPTOP.

When driving on the highway, there is an extremely loud buzzing noise from the front of the windshield wiper area. The encasing being loose and dry rotting. This will eventually fall apart and cause issues with the wiper module.

I purchased a 2015 jeep grand cherokee-VIN#[xxx], from feldman chevrolet of new hudson on 05-25-2019. When I registered the vehicle on jeep.com, I was notified that two critical safety recalls were awaiting attention from 2017.

My check engine light comes on and it will not start with remote

There is a wind noise coming into the car that is extremely loud and distracting when driving on the turnpike which is when it mostly occurs. I took my jeep to the dealership and they said the passenger side of windshield wiper cowling needed to be replaced. The dealer wanted to charge almost $500 to replace.

As I was driving on the interstate, the driver headrest popped out of place and hit me in the head. This caused me to swerve while going 70+ MPH. This could have resulted in serious injuries to myself and/or others.

The "service shifter" warning flashes on my dashboard randomly but does not affect the performance of the vehicle. The dealer read the diagnostic codes and said no trouble found. "bring it in when it happens again" was their best advice.

A PROGRAMMING GLITCH WOULDN'T ALLOW AN UPDATE TIME TO BE CHOSEN.THE NOTICE CONTINUED TO BLOCK THE SCREEN MAKING IT UNUSABLE. ON 10-3-19, AN HR INTO A 5 HR TRIP, A NOTICE ON THE SCREEN SAID: URGENT UPDATED NEEDS TO BE SCHEDULED/COMPLETED W/IN 24 HOURS BUT, IN MEANTIME, "ESSENTIAL SERVICES" LIKE 911 & BLUETOOTH (& COUPLE OTHERS) AREN'T AVAILABLE. I TRIED TO SET A TIME BUT THE ORIGINAL SCREEN KEPT POPPING BACK UP. I COULD NOT CLEAR THE NOTICE FROM THE SCREEN AND IT BLOCKED BEING ABLE TO USE ANY OF THE SCREEN TABS. COULDN'T EVEN USE UC'S CALL-ASSIST BUTTON ON REARVIEW MIRROR. IN THE GLOVE BOX I FOUND AN ACTUAL # FOR UC & CALLED DIRECTLY. THE WOMAN, HELEN, SAID THERE'D BEEN A "GLITCH" IN THE PROGRAM, THAT I WAS "OUT OF LUCK," SHE WAS SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE, THAT SHE HAD OTHER CUSTOMERS TRAVELING & IN SIMILAR PREDICAMENT. INITIALLY SHE SUGGESTED I PULLED OFF THE HWY TO ATTEMPT A SYSTEM RESET (AFTER WHICH THE HAZARD LIGHTS WOULDN'T SHUT OFF UNTIL AN EXTRA LONG HOLD OF THE HAZARD BUTTON). WHEN THE RESET DIDN'T WORK, SHE ADVISED THAT WHEN WE GET TO OUR DESTINATION (UNLESS WE FELT UNSAFE WE SHOULD STOP OUR TRIP THEN) TO BE OUT OF THE CAR FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR, TO PICK AN UPDATE TIME W/O ANY ZEROS (APPARENTLY THAT WAS THE "GLITCH") LIKE 11:17. THE CAR HAD TO BE LOCKED IN A CERTAIN PATTERN TO PUT IT IN "SLEEP" MODE. THE ACTUAL KEYS HAD TO BE AT LEAST 25 FEET AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. IF THIS ALL DIDN'T WORK WE'D HAVE TO FIND A DEALER BUT IT DID WORK OVERNIGHT. SO WE DROVE FOR 4 HOURS W/O NAVIGATION, BLUETOOTH OR 911. NOR DID WE HAVE RADIO ACCESS TO HEAR TRAFFIC OR WEATHER REPORTS ALONG OUR ROUTE. IT WAS VERY UNSETTLING TO BE DRIVING IN THE DARK WITHOUT ANY OF THE JEEP'S COMPUTER AVAILABLE.

I was parked and when I went started my car the air conditioner air felt hot - I quickly realized the air was blowing and stayi g hot, not cooling down. My 2015 jeep grand cherokee only has 39,400 miles and the airconditioner has gone out. I called my redlands ca dealer, they said it is no longer covered under the basic 36,000 mile warranty.

Air conditioning messed up so we took it in. Was told it is the evaporator coil needs to be replaced. The part is on national back order which sounds to me like this is an issue a lot of jeep owners are dealing with.

Navigation system stopped working. Incorrect location of car was shown on map. Directions were non-sensical because the nav system gave directions and speed advice based on an incorrect location.

Navigation is inaccurate and thus a safety hazard. Navigation system shows car off road or in water and gives incorrect directions. The car is at the dealer for a third time to correct this problem.

I have a 2015 jeep grand cherokee limited with about 48k miles and noticed a hissing sound coming when I have the AC on, a few weeks later I noticed that it would cool sometimes and sometimes it would only throw hot air. I took it to get diagnosed and seems it was a AC pressure valve.

I bought my vehicle new from a dealership. It had 3,600 miles on it when I found this problem. The navigation screen cracked spontaneously which make some of the function of the touch screen unusable, heat, defroster, navigation.

On numerous occasions after we bought out jeep, after shifting the gear lever the jeep was in a gear other than what was selected. On several occasions, we would shift the lever upward to park , push the off button, start to exit the vehicle and it would begin to roll.

Gear selector unpredictable. Sometimes hard to place in park and know it's in park. I have exited car thinking it was placed in park and ignition off only to exit car with passengers still aboard and car continue to travel under power forward.

Switches out of gear, car will be in park and switch out and move on its own. This is the second time this has happened, it also happened at the dealer when I purchased the car and hit another car. The dealer said someone try to steal it, but now it has happened again.

I have a 2015 jeep grand cherokee and it has rolled away twice in the 7 months that I have owned it. The first time happened when it was drove up onto a tow truck. After getting the vehicle on the truck the vehicle's engine was turned off and placed in park but the emergency brake was not set.

While sitting in my Jeep with the car off, I hear a very loud audible pop. It scared me enough to get out and look around. The sunroof completely shattered.

When shifting of and on the vechicle when driving may go down in a gear then you have to push up in column to get back in drive. It’s been happening off and on for awhile but is concerning.

The driver side headrest popped out. The latch to secure it again also brown when it randomly came out. Car was sitting still and there was no impact of any sort.

The headrest to my jeep popped out while I was driving. It is still attached, but seems to be hanging by a thread. After looking inside, it appears the plastic broke off the part that holds the headrest securely.

The leather on the dashboard is bubbling. There is some sort of glue issue on the vehicle.

The carbon fiber trim inside are peeling and they are sharp.

My wife parked jeep in driveway put vehicle into park and it rolled away 2 minutes later.

Vehicle jumps from d (drive) to I without warning and has to be placed back to drive. Vehicle is in motion when this happens, mostly city, but has happened on highway.

Our driveway has a slope. We park facing up the hill and three times the vehicle has rolled backwards while in park and not running. One time, vehicle off, my husband and I were still sitting in it.

Navigation system stopped showing the actual location of the car on the map. This is a safety hazard because I could not navigate to where I needed to go. In addition, it displays the speed limit of the (incorrect) place where it places the car on the map.

Nav system stopped working suddenly while car was in motion. Displays map showing the car in the wrong location. Gives incorrect directions for the (incorrect) location and gives incorrect local speed limit information (because it's giving the speed limit for the wrong location).

Jerks very hard whe going less the 20 miles

My jeep was placed in "park" position by my adult son. I was getting into the back seat and the vehicle rolled in reverse, hitting me with the open door where I was attempting to enter the vehicle, and causing me to have a head injury. I was taken to the hospital via ambulance for a concussion and laceration on the back of my head.

Jeep was in the driveway and had remained there overnight. My husband autostarted the car using the keyfob from inside the house. My sister was behind the car as she was going to get her bag out of the trunk.

While the car is in stationery mood, automatic transmission lever is too difficult to move to different positions. While tried to move lever to park or drive position, it automatically returns to a center neutral position and it happened few times but no damage and injury because of prompt action. It seems scary & dangerous at time.

Electronic shifter does not engage in to park. On numerous occasions the car has started to roll when I thought it was in park. The shifter is terribly dangers and cumbersome to use correctly to find gears.

The gear shift does not lock into place. More than once have I assumed I was in park and was not. This caused the vehicle to roll slightly.

The shifter is confusing and functions terribly. In several instances I ended up in reverse instead of park when attempting to park the vehicle and nearly ran into other vehicles and/or pedestrians as a result.

This has happened at least three time in five months. I thought the electronic gear selector was in park but was in some other gear. It is difficult to see what gear the selector is in.

2015 jeep grand cherokee shifter is unsafe. Many times over the last year I have mistakenly put the car in reverse instead of park. This is very easy to do.

I was backing out the garage and ran over something. I put the car in park got out to check to see what it was, the car started rolling and hit the back of garage.

I parked my car in my driveway, left the car running. Did not engage the parking brake. I walked out of the car, into my house to pick up something and then returned to the driveway.

No one at NHTSA cares, I have tied instant message and phone... The recall 15v-461 has an incorrect web address, and even if you do get to the software download, it is not someting that the average consumer can load. The uconnect website requires you to turn off your security software on your computer to down load, and then the steps for uplading to the vheical are insane.
