Was getting onto the freeway i15 southbound at 2100 in lehi utah as I was making the turn i ran over a street sign that had fallen Onto the road. There was no avoiding it due to it taking up most of the road that was available. As running over the sign I was hoping it didn’t cause damage. The front passenger side tire started going flat. I was thankfully able to get off the next exit (lehi main st.) to park in the subway parking lot. Was able to change my tire to the spare I had in my trunk. The tire size and brand is 205/50R17 93V Yokohama yk740 gtx

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK TIRES, SIZE: 205/55/R16. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN AIR PRESSURE LEAK IN THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DICK HANNAH VOLKSWAGEN OF PORTLAND (12345 E BURNSIDE ST, PORTLAND, OR 97233) WHERE ALL THE TIRES WERE CHECKED, BUT NO LEAKS WERE FOUND ALTHOUGH WIRES WERE SEEN PROTRUDING FROM THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE CONTACT DECIDED TO HAVE AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES. THEY MECHANIC ALSO NOTICED AN ALIGNMENT FAILURE THAT WOULD CAUSE THE TIRES TO WEAR AGAIN WITH A POSSIBLE BLOWOUT IF LEFT UNCHECKED. THE CONTACT LEFT A MESSAGE WITH THE MANUFACTURER TO CALL HIM BACK. THE CONTACT WILL GIVE THEM A RETURN CALL AFTER SPEAKING WITH NHTSA. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,511. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE, DOT NUMBER, AND TIRE LINE WERE UNKNOWN.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA EQUIPPED WITH PRIMEWELL VALERA TOURING II TIRES, SIZE: 205/55/R16 (NA). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SEVERELY SHAKE AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SPUN AROUND AND CAME TO A STOP. THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE BEGAN TO SMOKE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TIRE THREAD HAD TORN AND CAUSED THE TIRE WALL TO CAVE INWARDS. THE CONTACT HAD A CERTIFIED MECHANIC REPLACE THE TIRE WITH A SPARE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.

THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS LOW SO I TOOK THE CAR TO MY TIRE DEALER ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT ALL OEM NEXEN TIRES HAD CRACKS BETWEEN THE TREADS BOTH HORIZONTALLY AND VERTICALLY. EACH TIRE HAS A DIFFERENT DOT CODE SO I HAVE ONLY SUBMITTED ONE COMPLAINT. THE CAR HAS 8940 MILES ON IT AND IS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GT. I CALLED NEXEN WARRANTY DEPARTMENT AND NO ONE ANSWERED SO I LEFT A MESSAGE. I ALSO, WROTE THEM AND EMAIL AND AM WAITING FOR A RESPONSE.

THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE HAS BLOWN OUT TWICE IN THE PAST YEAR. THE CAR WAS PARKED, AND WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AND STARTED DRIVING THE LOW TIRE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER STOPPING TO GET AIR I DISCOVERED THE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY FLAT, AND I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON A FLAT TIRE. BOTH TIMES THE RIM WAS ALSO BENT AND HAD TO BE SENT TO A SHOP TO REPAIR IT (MORE MONEY AND MORE TIME AWAY FROM MY CAR AND PAYING FOR A RENTAL CAR). IT WAS THE SAME EXACT SITUATION BOTH TIMES. I DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING OR RUN OVER ANYTHING. IN TOTAL, THIS IS THE FOURTH OR FIFTH TIME I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THIS TIRE DURING THE DURATION OF THE CAR'S LIFE, AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN DUE TO HITTING ANYTHING OR RUNNING OVER ANYTHING. IT JUST MYSTERIOUSLY HAPPENS. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN OCT 2012 AND THERE ARE CURRENTLY ABOUT 57000 MILES ON THE CAR. THIS IS A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE IN TERMS OF COST AND TIME, BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY, I CONSTANTLY FEAR AND DREADFULLY ANTICIPATE THE NEXT TIME I WILL HAVE A FLAT AND NEVER FEEL COMPLETELY SAFE WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THE USE OF 17" WHEELS ON THIS CAR IS NOT APPROPRIATE, AND I WOULD LIKE FOR THIS TO BE LOOKED INTO, AS NO ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ABLE TO GET ANY HELP FROM HYUNDAI. SINCE I BROUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW IN JUNE OF 2012 I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT TIRE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE BROUGHT NEW TIRES AND THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON ALL THE TIME. POHANKA REPLACE THE VALVE STEM BACK IN AUGUST. NO THEY ARE TELLING ME I HAVE TO REPLACE THE SENSOR 3 AND REGISTER THE TMPS SENSORS FOR $220.00 AND I ALSO HAVE BEEN REPLACING THE HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS MORE THEN I LIKE TOO. VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER. I PREVIOUSLY OWNED AN 2002 HYUNDAI ELANTRA BROUGHT IT BRAND NEW I HAD IT FOR 10 YEARS AND DIDN'T THIS MUST PROBLEM AND HAD 262,000 MILES ON THAT CAR. I LOVE THE NEW MODEL BUT SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THIS MANY PROBLEMS. *TR

I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GL WITH HANKOOK OPTIMA MODEL 426 205/55R/16 TIRES. I DID ALL ROTATIONS AT 6000 MILES AND ALIGNMENTS ONCE A YEAR AS THE CAR MANUFACTURER SPECFIES. THIS VEHICLE IS ALSO EQUIPPED WITH A TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPS). WHICH NEVER INDICATED ANY PROBLEMS WITH PROPER INFLATION. EVEN WITH FULL TREAD THESE TIRES HAD ALMOST ZERO TRACTION IN ANY WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE THERE WAS ANY ACCUMULATION OF RAIN OR SNOW. THESE ARE STATED AS ALL SEASON RADIALS AND THEY DO NOT PERFORM AS SUCH. MY TIRES WERE DOWN TO THE WEAR BARS 3/32' TREAD LEFT WITH 29791 MILES ON THE ODOMETER.THE MANUFACTURER LISTS THESE AS 50,000 MILE RATED TIRES. WHEN I QUESTIONED HYUNDAI THEY REFERRED ME TO HANKOOK TELLING ME THE MANUFACTURER KNOWS ALL ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRE AND IS HANDLING ALL COMPLAINTS I CONTACTED HANKOOK CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 800-426-5665 AND SPOKE WITH [XXX] AT EXT. 616 I WAS FIRST TOLD ALL I NEEDED TO DO WAS HAVE A ONE OF THEIR LOCAL TIRE DISTRIBUTORS VERIFY TREAD DEPTH.I HAD THE TIRES REPLACED AT TOWN FAIR TIRES. THEN I ASKED THE MANAGER AT TOWN FAIR TIRES TO CALL THEM TO VERIFY. WHICH HE WAS HAPPY TO DO.THE STORY CHANGED TWO DAYS LATER THE MANAGER CALLED AND WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT, HE CALLED ME I CALLED THEM AND THEN THEY REMEMBERED THE CONVERSATION AND SAID" THEY WOULD CALL HIM BACK". THEN HE WAS TOLD THEY NEEDED PICTURES EMAILED TO THEM OF THE TIRES. AN HOUR LATER I WAS TOLD BY HANKOOK THEY NEED THE ACTUAL TIRE SKINS. SINCE IT HAD BEEN THREE DAYS SINCE I HAD THE TIRES REPLACED THE DISTRIBUTOR'S RECYCLERS HAD ALREADY PICKED UP THE TIRES AND THEY WERE NO LONGER AVAILABLE. ALL I WAS LOOKING FOR WAS THE INDUSTRY STANDARD TIRE ALLOWANCE FOR LACK OF PERFORMANCE. WHICH NOW THEY ARE REFUSING TO DO FOR ME WITHOUT THE TIRES. CAN YOU HELP ME? I HAVE A 2013 ELANTRA GT AND HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH WHEELS AND TIRES. IN THE WINTER OF 2013-14, I HAD THIS CAR FOR ONLY 4 MONTH AND STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH BUBBLES IN SIDEWALLS OF THE TIRES. THE ORIGINAL TIRES WERE KUMHO 245/45R17 TIRES AND BUBBLED OR WENT FLAT AFTER NORMAL DRIVING OR UPON ENCOUNTERING A BUMP OR POTHOLE. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH FALKEN 245/45R17 TIRES IN FEBRUARY OF 2014. IN NOVEMBER OF 2014, ANOTHER BUBBLE APPEARED AND A SECOND ON DECEMBER 4, 2014. IT IS A CONCERNING CONDITION OF UNSAFETY AND UNRELIABILITY WHEN A VEHICLES TIRES ARE SO PRONE TO DAMAGE. I WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE THE ROAD HAZARD WARRANTY WITH THE REPLACEMENT TIRES, BUT HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE AND THE 17" TIRES WILL BE CONSIDERED 'LOW PROFILE' GOING FORWARD AND REPLACEMENTS WILL NOT BE COVERED AND WILL NEED TO BE PAID OUT OF POCKET. MY DAUGHTER HAS A HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2013 WITH 6700 MILES, SHE WAS DRIVING AT 60MPH ON A FREEWAY AND HER PASSENGER FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT. SHE LOST CONTROL AND RAN INTO THE CONCRETE BARRIER ON THE FREEWAY. SHE HAS FRAME AND BODY DAMAGE TO HER FRONT END. THANK GOD SHE IS OK EXCEPT FOR HER COLLAR BONE AREA BEING BRUISED FROM HER SEAT BELT. SHE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING BEFORE THE BLOW OUT. WE WERE TRAVELING IN A REMOTE AREA AND WHILE GOING DOWN A HILL THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM ALERT CAME ON. THERE WAS NO PLACE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD DUE TO GUARD RAILS, SO I SLOWED DOWN AND CONTINUED DOWN THE HILL UNTIL I COULD PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE WAS NO CELL PHONE SERVICE AND THIS CAR HAS NO SPARE TIRE. THE TIRE WAS NOT COMPLETELY FLAT AND A NAIL WAS SEEN IN A REPAIRABLE AREA OF THE TREAD ON THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDES FREE ROAD SERVICE, BUT SINCE THERE WAS NO CELL PHONE SERVICE, I HAD NO CHOICE EXCEPT TO USE THE PROVIDED TIRE REPAIR AND INFLATION KIT. THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE FOLLOWED AND THE TIRE WAS INFLATED TO 32 PSI AS PER THE INSTRUCTIONS. I DISCONNECTED THE TIRE REPAIR AIR PUMP FROM THE VALVE STEM AND MY WIFE WAS ABOUT TO REPLACE THE VALVE STEM CAP WHEN THE TIRE EXPLODED AND FORCE FROM THE AIR KNOCKED HER TO THE GROUND AND ONTO THE ROADWAY. SHE SKINNED HER KNEES AND HAD A HEADACHE FOR HOURS AFTER THIS. THE FORCE OF THE TIRE EXPLOSION ALSO SHATTERED THE WHEEL WELL PLASTIC LINER. HAD THE TIRE EXPLOSION BEEN ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TIRE MY WIFE WOULD LIKELY HAVE BEEN GRAVELY INJURED. THE LOUD SOUND FROM THE TIRE EXPLODING GOT THE ATTENTION OF A RANCH CREW REPAIRING FENCES IN THE AREA. THEY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOTGUN BLAST. ONE OF THE CREW MEMBERS OFFERED US USE OF HIS PHONE TO CALL FOR HELP. WE SPENT 2 HOURS IN THE HEAT ARRANGING FOR A TOW AND WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST TIRE SHOP THAT HAD THE CORRECT SIZE TIRE FOR SALE. THIS WAS OVER 25 MILES AWAY IN PINETOP, AZ. I HAVE CONTACTED HYUNDAI NUMEROUS TIMES IN AN ATTEMPT FOR THEM TO COMPENSATE ME FOR THE DAMAGE TO MY CAR AND INJURY TO MY WIFE CAUSED BY THEIR TIRE REPAIR KIT WITHOUT ANY REASONABLE RESPONSE FROM THEM. IN MY OPINION, THEIR TIRE REPAIR KIT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY HYUNDAI, AND I SHOULD BE COMPENSATED. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA LIMITED EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL TIRES, LINE: CONTI PRO, SIZE: 215/45/17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE TIRE AFFECTED WAS ALWAYS THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION, WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE WEATHER. THE DEALER SUGGESTED ADDING NITROGEN, HOWEVER THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE CONTACT NOTICED BUBBLES ON THE SIDEWALL OF THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE TIRES. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED BECAUSE OF A PIN SIZED HOLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 21,800.

I WAS TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE WHEN THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR INDICATE THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRE. I PULLED OVER AND FRONT PASSENGER TIRE WAS EXTREMELY LOW. I USED THE AIR PUMP AND FILLED TIRE. I EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND DROVE TO THE NEAREST TIRE REPAIR SHOP. ALL 4 TIRES WERE BELOW 32 PSI. A DIGITAL READING INDICATED THE TIRES RANGE FROM 13 TO 19 PSI. I HAD THE TIRES FILLED. ON 12-17-2012 SAME PROBLEM. TIRE SENSOR INDICATED THERE WAS A PROBLEM. I DROVE TO MECHANIC AND HAD TIRES CHECK. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE INSPECTED AND NO DAMAGE OR PUNCTURES WERE FOUNDED. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE FILLED WITH AIR. ON 12-29-12, TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR CAME ON. I DROVE TO MECHANIC ALL FOUR TIRE WERE CHECK. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE LOW (RANGE OF 12 TO 21 PSI). TIRES WERE FILLED TO 32 PSI. ON 1-8-2013, SENSOR CAME ON AGAIN. TIRE WERE CHECK AND ALL FOUR TIRES WERE LOW (TIRE RANGED FROM 15 TO 22). ALL FOUR TIRES WERE FILLED TO 32 PSI. ON 1-21-13, TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. ALL FOUR TIRES CHECK AND NEEDED AIR. DIGITAL READING INDICATED THE TIRE RANGE FROM 9 TO 15 PSI. TIRES WERE FILLED BACK TO 32 PSI. *TR

A BLOW OUT OF A TIRE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA LIMITED WITH 543 TOTAL MILES ON THE CAR. THE SPEED OF THE CAR AT THE TIME WAS 25 MPH ON A SMOOTH ROAD SURFACE IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. IN TALKING TO OTHER OWNERS, AND SEARCHING THE INTERNET, WE FIND THAT PREMATURE TIRE FAILURE OCCURS FREQUENTLY ON THE ELANTRA.
