SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:PEDALS AND LINKAGES
Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2013-2014 Elantra sedan, coupe and GT vehicles. The brake pedal stopper pad can deteriorate allowing the brake light switch plunger to remain extended when the brake pedal is released. This will allow the brake lights to remain illuminated continuously. It can also allow the shift lever to be moved without depressing the brake pedal, or activate the engine management brake pedal override feature.
Fix: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake pedal stopper pad, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 8, 2018. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 170. This campaign expands recall 16V574.
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2015 Elantra, Genesis Coupe, Sonata Hybrid, 2012-2015 Accent, Azera, Veloster, 2013-2015 Elantra Coupe, Santa Fe, 2014-2015 Equus, 2010-2012 Veracruz, 2010-2013 Tucson, 2015 Tucson Fuel Cell, and 2013 Santa Fe Sport vehicles. The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module may leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.
Fix: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the ABS fuse, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 10, 2024 through October 11, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 251.

Your brake line has rusted and developed a leak, causing brake fluid to escape from your hydraulic brake system. This caused your brake pedal to sink to the floor, severely reducing or eliminating your ability to stop the vehicle—creating a serious risk of collision. An independent mechanic confirmed the issue and determined the rusted brake line section needs to be replaced.

Under carriage steel brake line rust through at support bracket and causing a loss of brake fluid and risk of stopping condition that raise a concern of an accident and protentional risk of injury to the owner/operator and other drivers on the road. This rust condition and due to road salt condition in state that use road salt and Hyundai clearly lacks undercoating protection. This issue has been seen by other 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT owner and been clearly documented in Hyundai discussion forums. The brake light did come on and I drive it to the first repair shop to fix the issue by replacing the rusted brake line. The repair shop noted the lack of manufactures undercoating of this product cause numerous rusting concern on the under carriage of this vehicle include steel brake line, steel Fuel line and steel Evp emission lines along with safety concern associated with each issue

In the winter of 2024 I became aware, during a routine pre-trip inspection under the hood of my 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT, that the level of brake fluid was low enough not to be visible in the "overflow" container. About a quarter of a quart of brake fluid was then added. I then began checking the brake fluid level often and noticed that over time, I had to add brake fluid at least once a week. The problem increased to the point that I was going through a quart of brake fluid each month. In the meantime, I attempted to get various mechanics to find the leak but had a hard time convincing anyone I was leaking brake fluid as THERE WAS NEVER A WARNING LAMP OR MESSAGE ACTIVATED. After paying for other "suggested" repairs such as replacing brakes the leak continued and at times the brakes became squishy until finally a mechanic acknowledged a leak coming from the area of the ABS module actuator which he said was "fried". My car had to be in a Hyundai shop 90 miles away for three weeks awaiting the ABS actuator part and repairs as I was advised the vehicle was dangerous and I could lose the use of my brakes. Again, this issue would have never been highlighted if I had not been diligent about checking the brake fluid and could have ended with much more serious consequences than inconvenience and expense. Again, there was never a warning light indicator to emphasize a potential hazard.

Hyundai recall 251 happened in Sept. 2023 and a remedy was not made available until summer 2024. This was a "park outside due to fire risk" recall and a completely unacceptable amount of time to put families in danger. Fast forward to when the remedy was available. I went to my dealer, ALM Hyundai West, who completed the recall. A week later I checked the Hyundai website and the recall was not marked complete. ALM told me I needed to come back in so they could confirm it was done correctly and take pictures. I wasn't happy but I went back and they took their pictures. That was a month ago. My recall is STILL not marked as complete and ALM is so disorganized, I am not sure if my car was actually fixed at this point.

I (finally) received a letter with instructions for what to do to make an appointment to get my car fixed so it doesn't catch on fire per Recall 251, but I was unable to do so. I followed the instructions exactly. When I go to the website [XXX] and enter my VIN number, the recall appears. But then when I try to schedule an appointment, that recall does not appear as an option to create the appointment for. They did not test this system at all, and they did not list any other ways to make the appointment in the letter. My vehicle has been affected by Hyundai Recall #251. Hyundai sent mixed messages in the recall saying park the car while also saying the car is safe to drive. My brakes have began locking up, pulsing and vibrating at stops, and declined power braking. Recently, the warning lights are flicking on and off and occasionally I think I smell it burning. I immediately shut the car off. This recall was announced in Nov 2023. It is May 2023 and there is still no remedy. It is not safe for me to drive my car. I owe payments for a vehicle I cannot use and I rely on that vehicle to get to work to pay for the car. Hyundai needs to offer a real solution to the issue of leaking brake fluid and the fuse issues.

It has been 7 months since this recall NHTSA Recall Number 23V651000 and Hyundai has still not implemented a remedy I just checked their website and there has been no filter information given since the fire hazard warning. A vehicle fire occurred while the vehicle was parked in an open carport, and caused significant fire damage estimated at approximately $2,000. No injuries occurred. Due to early actions of residents and neighbors, the fire was confined to the vehicle and it did not spread to the carport or single family dwelling. The fire originated in the engine compartment, and was probably due to an internal brake fluid leak within the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module, which caused an electrical failure or malfunction. The vehicle has one (1) open safety recall that is incomplete at this time, and a remedy is not yet available. The vehicle owner stated that the ABS, Engine, and Traction warnings lamps did recently come on. The insurance company involved was notified of this vehicle fire, and may have examined or inspected the vehicle.

- Brake and fuel leak smell - yes - yes - no - no
I’m filing a complaint about the vehicle recall on my car for the anti brake lock system (recall notice NHTSA 23V651000) I have been waiting for a solution for almost 6 months without any remedy. It is inappropriate the current remedy is to park my car away from buildings in case of fire. How is one supposed to do that when you keep your car at your house and place of work?
REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE.OWNERS CAN CONTINUE DRIVING THESE VEHICLES; HOWEVER, HYUNDAI RECOMMENDS PARKING THEIR VEHICLES OUTSIDE AND AWAY FROM STRUCTURE UNTIL THE RECALL REMEDY IS AVAILABLE AND COMPLETED. There is no remedy available yet. This needs to be addressed yesterday!!
Hyundai has had an "urgent recall" out now for 6 months with no remedy. I'd like to know how long the company has been given to provide a remedy. This is incredibly inconvenient, as my vehicle cannot be parked in or near any structure. Because of having to park it on the street, it has been vandalized (rear-view mirror smashed), but Hyundai refuses to reimburse me for that.

The manufacturer has failed to provide a timely remedy for this problem NHTSA Recall Number 23V-651 (Hyundai Recall Number 251). I received the recall notice in September of 2023 and it is now March 2024. The manufacturer has been non-responsive when I have attempted to have questions answered or a timeline provided. I would like NHTSA to force a response or provide me with an alternative method of being reimbursed for this issue since the manufacturer does not appear interested in fixing it.

This complaint is made regarding Hyundai recall 251 concerning the ABS module. I am the original owner of a 2013 Hyundai Elantra automobile. As of 12 March 2024, Hyundai Motor America has not been responsive to my inquiries when a remedy will be available. I have made numerous inquiries to the Hyundai dealer where I purchased the car, and to Hyundai Motors America. I have been forced to park the vehicle outside of my garage though a Colorado winter for fear of a fire caused by the ABS module malfunction. Hyundai's lack of action is aggravating for the extra wintertime vehicle maintenance this has caused. More importantly, I am reluctant to park this vehicle near other parked cars and buildings, and, taking the recall warning seriously, I am also unable to park the vehicle in public areas such as underground parking garages.

Hyundai issued a recall related to brake fluid leaking onto an ABS module back on September 22, 2023 (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 23V651000). To this date, Hyundai has not offered a solution and the leaking is causing the brakes to not engage as they should. (I'm having to fill the brake fluid on a daily basis). In addition to the inconvenience, it adds an unnecessary expense of purchasing brake fluid. It seems that the issue is causing additional brake system issues and that the leaking is getting worse. (I pay for a car and expect it to work correctly. If there is a problem - which happens - the expectation is that the issue is resolved within a reasonable timeframe. 4 plus months for a braking issue IS NOT reasonable). The vehicle will not pass inspection until this issue is resolved. I am requesting that either Hyundai resolves the issue or offers reimbursement if we need to get the issue fixed ourselves. Thank you for your time!
I received a recall for my Hyundai Elantra in November 2023 that still doesn't have a remedy. The recall recommends I park my car "outside and away from structures" because it is at risk of engine fire when driving or parked. I have been diligent in this recommendation as I don't want to cause possible harm to others. This has resulted in my car being parked outside (even when I have the option to park inside) and winter weather has caused issues with starting my car as well as maintaining it because of the increased exposure to the elements. I just called Hyundai this week and I continue to be told that there is no remedy at this time. So, I am reaching out to you for help because I'm not sure what is considered a "reasonable time" for a remedy to be produced but I hope that after 3 months there should be some solution to address the safety of myself and others.
I received the recall notice, with note to park outside the garage due to fire risk, more than two months ago. [XXX] ) The remedy is still not available. Parking outside is a major inconvenience as there isn't enough parking where I live and going anywhere after 6pm means there isn't parking on return. Not to mention the fire risk every moment the car is waiting for the remedy. Appreciate anything that can be done to put a fire under Hyundai's [XXX] to get this remedy available. I've been ready to bring the car in for the fix since receiving the notice before Thanksgiving. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I'm very concerned about a safety recalled that has not yet been addressed by Hyundai. Recall Campaign #251; NHTSA Recall #23V651000. I received notice of the safety issue, but the remedy is not yet available. I don't feel safe with the possibility of a fire until this issue is addressed. How long are vehicle owners expected to wait for a remedy?

This recall was put into place September 2022, 4 months ago. Nothing has failed yet, but my ABS warning has come up multiple times while driving. I'm not sure if this indicator means the issue is getting worse or not. I got an oil change a few days ago and they stated that my brake fluid was low.

Next week will be 4 months since Hyundai issued a recall on some Elantras, recall #251 (09/22/23). As of today, the fix is not yet available. For a serious safety issue (risk of engine compartment fire), this is totally unacceptable. When there was a recall for airbags on my 2009 Honda CRV several years ago, Honda kept the vehicle and paid for a rental car for about 6 weeks. Shouldn't Hyundai be forced by the NHTSA to do the same? What is my recourse?

Recall 251 not fixed or handled within a “reasonable time”. It’s been two months. I work at an airport and cannot “park away from structures”. I also have called dealer and maker repeatedly stating I don’t feel safe driving car that could catch fire parked or driving, with zero customer service solutions or concern for my safety.

Hyundai's recall on the ABS module is unrealistic. The instructions advise to park the car away form any buildings/structures and not to drive it. It's been months since this recall was initiated and they still don't have a solution?

I'm reaching out in concern for the Hyundai Safety Recall (Hyundai Recall Number 251). The letter, I received on 11/14/23, said my car is part of the Recall. There is currently no remedy. The only recommendation is to not drive the car and leave it parked away from structures. The 251 recall started 9/22/23. There has been no update and no resolution. I think this is not a reasonable time frame to have your car parked away from structures and not to be driven.

Event: Catastrophic brake failure whilst driving due to total corrosion of brake lines. Cause: Stainless steel rear brake lines on undercarriage of vehicle do not have any form of coating, nor anti-corrosive protection. Detailed description of problem, including photographic evidence: The stainless steel brake lines run externally along the vehicle undercarriage, from the master cylinder to the rear wheels (Exhibit A). The plastic cover, which has pre-drilled holes in it, hides these lines from view (Exhibit B) and is held in place by a series of push clips. These push clips are directly attached to small plastic straps which act as guide channel to keep the brake lines in place (Exhibit C). Ground water is able to splash from under vehicle inside the plastic cover, and then the water sits in the wells created by the straps (Exhibit D) which allows water to puddle along the brake lines and has allowed the brake line to corrode right through and brake fluid leaks right out (Exhibit E). Fortunately my wife was driving in the direction of, and in close proximity to, our home at the time of brake failure and was able to return the vehicle to the driveway prior to an accident occurring. The Country of Canada has already issued a recall for this precise issue in March of 2023 (Transport Canada Recall # 2023-125) Source: [XXX] I was not aware of this issue until the time of the incident because I would have chosen to address this myself earlier being that this would almost certainly lead to a dangerous situation I now have a vehicle which is unsafe to operate. I will need to have this vehicle towed in order to have it repaired. I currently have no way of being reimbursed for either the transportation of the vehicle to a service center, nor the repair costs themselves; even though this issue has been documented as a known issue in another country for the past six months. The brake light switch had to be replaced again. The brakes light was staying on while driving and barked. The same item was on a recall about 4 to 5 years ago. The part is still failing.
WHEN BRAKING THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMED "SOFT" AND AFTER ABOUT 40 MILES OF DRIVING IT WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I HAD REACHED HOME BY THEN. THERE WERE DROPS OF FLUID ON THE PAVEMENT AFTER I BACKED IN AND PARKED.I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER AND INSPECTION REVEALED THAT NOT ONLY BOTH BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED THROUGH, BUT, THE FUEL LINES HAD ALSO RUSTED THROUGH AND WERE LEAKING.
I HAD TROUBLE GETTING THE VEHICLE TO STOP COMPLETELY, VERY SCARY AND NERVOUS. I HAD THE BRAKE PADS REPLACED AND THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, NOW THEY SAY IT IS THE ABS. THE VEHICLE HAS JUST PASSED 100K MILES. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE HAS BEEN MFG BRAKE PROBLEMS WITH THIS MAKE ,MODEL AND 2013. I WANT HYUNDAI TO RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AN ACCIDENT HAPPENS.. PLEASE ADVISE ASAP.. [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS STAYED ON KILLING THE BATTERY. AFTER PAYING FOR A FOR A NEW BATTERY AND 100.00 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST IT WAS STATED THAT THE BRAKE STOPPER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER I PAID FOR THIS SERVICE A RECALL WAS MADE. I FILED A CLAIM TO BE REIMBURSE BUT HAVE BEEN IGNORED.
I GOT MY CAR BRAKE RELEASE LIGHT FIXED BECAUSE IT WAS RECALLED IN 2018 2 YRS LATER SAME ISSUE BRAKE LIGHT IS STILL ON EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS OFF
MY BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OUT AT SAME TIME, SO I WAS RESEARCHING WHAT TO DO AND READ ABOUT THE ONE RECALL (#146) THAT I HAD DONE ALREADY. IT SAID SOMETHING ABOUT STARTING YOUR CAR WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. I DO NOT DEPRESS THE PEDAL WHEN I START MY CAR. IS THIS AN ISSUE?

THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON MY 2013 ELANTRA WILL NOT GO OUT, I FIRST SAW THE YELLOW SKID LIGHT COME ON.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY AT ABOUT 5 MPH WHEN MY ESC INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. BOTH OF MY FRONT BRAKES IMMEDIATELY LOCKED UP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF THINKING THAT WOULD RESET THE SYSTEM. WHEN I STARTED IT BACK UP THE INDICATOR LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND THE BRAKES WERE STILL LOCKED UP. I THEN TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK OFF AND UNPLUGGED MY BATTERY HOPING THAT WOULD DO IT. STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF SITTING THERE THE BRAKES FINALLY RELEASED AND I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO MY HOUSE. THE LIGHT WAS AND STILL IS ON BUT THE BRAKES ARENT LOCKED UP AT THIS TIME. IM JUST AFRAID OF IT HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE AT FASTER SPEEDS. IT WOULD MOST CERTAINLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AT THE VERY LEAST. I HAVE 4 KIDS AND A WIFE AND MY WIFE IS USUALLY THE ONE WHO DRIVES THE CAR. IM JUST THANKFUL IT DIDNT HAPPEN UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC.
BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH STAYS ON DRAINS BATTERY. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA FOR THIS ISSUE. BUT MY VIN NUMBER DOES NOT SHOW RECALL THIS IS MY VIN [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
CAR WAS PARKED WITH PARKING BREAK ENGAGED, WENT IN MY HOME, AFTER 15 MINS LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW AND CAR HAD SOME OUT OF PARK AND ROLLED INTO NEIGHBORS CAR CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH CARS
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WITHOUT BRAKE PEDAL BEING PRESSED AND EVEN WHEN CAR IS NOT STARTED. THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN THE BRAKE LIGHTS OFF. THIS HAPPENED WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF IN GARAGE.
ABOUT 4 TIMES PER YEAR, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. I MUST USE THE SHIFT RELEASE BUTTON AND THIS TAKES AWHILE TO WORK. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR IS IDLING IN A PARKING LOT, PARKED AT A DRIVE-THRU, TRYING TO LEAVE A PARKING LOT. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 12 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE FIRST OCCASION WAS AROUND 1,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER.
WHEN DRIVING IN RAIN FOR AWHILE, THEN GENTLY COME TO STOP, GET A BRAKE NOISE THAT SHOULDN'T BE THERE AND WHOLE CAR VIBRATES. NOT GOING THROUGH PUDDLES OR STANDING WATER. THIS HAS HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES. I DISCUSSED IT WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT OUR DEALERSHIP, AND HE ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE, AND THAT HYUNDAI DID AS WELL, BUT SAID THERE IS NO SOLUTION CURRENTLY. THE STOPPING POWER IS NOT GOOD WHEN THIS HAPPENS. AFTER IT DRIES, THEN THE BRAKES FUNCTION NORMAL. DEALERSHIP SAID NEW PADS AND ROTOR MIGHT HELP, BUT WASN'T A WARRANTY ISSUE. THERE IS A PROBLEM AND IT SHOULD BE FIXED! THIS COULD BE A PROBLEM THAT GETS SOMEONE KILLED. ALSO, I FIND THAT OTHER HYUNDAI OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME BRAKE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOWING FACILITY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE RIGHT ARM AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE EYES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
SEPT. 2ND, 2016, MY 26-YR-OLD DAUGHTER (AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER) LEFT WORK, APPROACHED A "T" COUNTRY ROAD INTERSECTION AT MODERATE SPEED, ON A SOMEWHAT ROUGH ROAD, AND APPLIED BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN. NOTHING HAPPENED - THE CAR DID NOT SLOW. THE CAR DROVE ACROSS THE INTERSECTION INTO A FARMYARD. SHE PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, BUT IT DID NOT STOP THE CAR. IT SKIDDED, BUT SHE WAS ABLE TO STEER AROUND A WOOD PILE AND AVOID TREES. CAR STOPPED WHEN IT CRASHED INTO A DIRT MOUND. THIS WAS TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. BUMPER WAS RUINED, AND THERE IS DAMAGE IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT. NO FIRE OR INJURIES. NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, WHO NEXT DAY DROVE CAR AROUND DEALERSHIP LOT AND FOUND NO BRAKE PROBLEM. CRASH DAMAGE MADE CAR NOT ROAD-WORTHY TO TEST BRAKES AT HIGHER SPEED. CAR HAS ABOUT 42,200 MILES ON IT. BACK IN MID-SUMMER, THE DEALER HAD REPAIRED A PROBLEM THAT APPARENTLY WAS BRAKE STOPPER RECALL-RELATED (A LATE-AUGUST RECALL). WE REPORTED THE FAILURE AND CRASH TO HYUNDAI AMERICA.
MY CAR HAS 7000 MILES AND THE BRAKES GRIND EXCESSIVELY AND WHEN BRAKING AT SPEEDS 40 MPH OR HIGHER, THE CAR SHAKES AND VIBRATES SO HARD I AM AFRAID THAT THE BRAKES WILL FAIL. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MORE THAN A YEAR. LAST YEAR, I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER (FAIRFAX HYUNDAI IN FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA) FOR THIS PROBLEM AND ALL THEY SAID WAS THAT THIS WAS DUE TO RUST BUILDUP EVEN THOUGH MY CAR JUST HAD LESS THAN 5,000 MILES ON IT AND I JUST NEEDED TO BRAKE HARD TO GET RID OF THE RUST. THIS HAS NOT HELPED AND I BELIEVE THAT THE BRAKES PADS AND ROTORS ARE DEFECTIVE AND NEED TO BE REPLACED.
MAKING UNUSUAL VIBRATION AND NOISE ON ONE SIDE AND DEALER VISITED SEVERAL TIMES BUT CAN'T FIND OR FIXED
I WAS BRAKING TO MAKE A TURN ON A AN ICY ROAD WHEN THE BRAKES MADE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT PRESS IN PROPERLY - SORT OF LIKE IT WAS FIGHTING BACK. I THOUGHT IT WAS A RESPONSE BY ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL BECAUSE OF THE ICE, BUT THEN LATER THE SAME DAY, SLOWING DOWN AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE SAME SOUND OCCURRED AGAIN ON A COMPLETELY DRY ROAD SURFACE. THE SOUND CONTINUED WHILE BRAKING FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP WHILE BRAKING ON DRY ROADS. I EVEN TRIED PRESSING THE BRAKES WITH DIFFERENT FORCE - LIGHTLY AND SUDDENLY - TO THE SAME RESULT. STOPPING DISTANCE AND BRAKING QUALITY WERE COMPROMISED - IT DEFINITELY TOOK ME LONGER TO STOP SO I AM VERY THANKFUL I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I WILL ALSO NOTE THAT THE SOUND OCCURS TOWARDS THE END OF A LONG DRIVE (APPROXIMATELY AN HOUR), NOT RUNNING BRIEF ERRANDS. SO IT IS AS IF THE CAR MUST BE RUNNING HOT FIRST AND THEN THE ISSUE REPLICATES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED DURING RAIN, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKES AND THERE WAS A INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS MAKE A GRINDING NOISE WHEN APPLYING BRAKES TO STOP TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. REPORTED PROBLEM TO HYUNDAI SOUTHERN STATES DEALERSHIP ON 12/30/2013. DEALER STATED THAT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED. AS OF 10/19/2015, THE PROBLEM STILL PERSIST AND IS WORST. THIS BRAKE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED BY CONSUMERS NATIONALLY TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIPS; BUT, HYUNDAI WILL NOT ADMIT TO THE SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES ON THIS PARTICULAR MODEL.
BRAKES HAVE BEEN GRINDING SINCE IT WAS NEW. CAR NOW ONLY HAS 2000 MILES ON IT NOW AND SOUNDS EVEN WORSE WHEN YOU GO TO STOP.
BRAKES: AT 36K, I HAD TO CHANGE THE BRAKE PADS WHICH MAY NOT BE UNCOMMON, HOWEVER, IT WAS THE BACK BRAKES. THE FRONT BRAKES HAD MORE THAN HALF THE LIFE LEFT ON IT AND THE BACK BRAKES WERE ALMOST BARE. ENGINE: IN SUMMER (JULY?) OF 2013, I CAME OUT FROM WORK, AFTER A FULL DAY OF THE CAR SITTING OUT IN THE SUN (APPROXIMATELY 85 WEATHER), I ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE ENGINE AND IT CONTINUED TO TURN, BUT NOT WOULD NOT IGNITE/ START. AFTER TRYING IT FOR ABOUT 5MIN, I GAVE IT A BREAK AND LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 10MIN. AFTER WHICH, I TRIED AGAIN AND IT WAS VERY HESITANT TO START (YOU COULD HEAR IT WANTED TO), THEN EVENTUALLY STARTED. I DROPPED IT OFF TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE. ALMOST A YEAR LATER (JULY?) 2014, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THE CAR SAT OUT IN THE 80 WEATHER IN THE SUN ALL DAY. I CAME OUT FROM WORK AND MY CAR WOULD NOT TURN ON; THIS TIME, THE ENGINE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN CONTINUE TO TURN LIKE WHEN YOUR BATTERY IS DEAD. I CALLED ROADSIDE AND HE JUMPED THE CAR. HE ALSO CHECKED THE BATTERY AND SAID IT SHOULDN'T DO THAT BECAUSE IT WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO DEAD. I AGAIN TOOK INTO THE DEALER AND THEY TRIED TO REPLICATE MY ISSUE, LEAVING IT IN THE SUN; NO LUCK. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AGAIN. I HAVEN'T SEEN THE ISSUE SINCE, BUT I AM WORRIED THAT A NEW CAR COULD EVEN HESITATE TO START LIKE THIS.
I HAVE INFORMED MY LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW THAT THE FRONT BRAKES MAKE A CLATTERING NOISE AND DO NOT SEEM TO BRAKE THE CAR EFFECTIVELY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED WITH A LITTLE MORE PRESSURE THAN NORMAL. THE DEALERSHIP EACH TIME SAID THAT THE BRAKES ARE FINE. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ELANTRA OWNER WHO HAS EXPERIENCED THIS SITUATION. MY VEHICLE NOW HAS OVER 60,000 MILES (OUT OF GENERAL WARRANTY) AND HYUNDAI WILL NOT EVEN RETURN MY E-MAILS. IF YOU WOULD EXPERIENCE THE SITUATION I AM DESCRIBING, YOU WOULD AGREE THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED, IT STARTED MOVING AND ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED BROKEN RIBS, AS WELL AS HEAD AND LEGS INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. HOWEVER, AFTER CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER THEY CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY AND PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,500.
BRAKES VERY ROUGH AND GRINDING. *TR
COMING TO THE END OF A PASSING LANE AT ABOUT 60 MPH, CARS GOT CONGESTED, BRAKE HARD AND THE BRAKES LOCKED UP CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF MY CAR, STARTED TO GO INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I LET UP ON THE BRAKES AND BRAKED AGAIN, BRAKES LOCKED UP AS BEFORE. I THOUGHT ANTI-LOCK BRAKES PREVENTED THIS FROM HAPPENING. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO OTHER TIMES, JUST NOT THIS BAD, PLUS WHEN I GO OVER RAILROAD TRACKS OF HIT A POTHOLE, I CAN'T USE THE BRAKES. I NOTICED THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FACTORY HANCOCK TIRES, THEY SHOULD BE BAN FROM NEW CARS, I HAD TWO ACCIDENTS IN ONE DAY DUE TO LIGHT SNOW. *TR
ON JULY 18, 2014, MY 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA RAN INTO A SUBWAY RESTAURANT AT 12150 S. CICERO, ALSIP, IL. I WAS GOING INTO THE SUBWAY PARKING LOT, MY GOAL WAS TO PARK, BUT MY CAR DID NOT STOP WHEN I PUT ON MY BRAKES. MY CAR KEPT GOING; IT DROVE OVER THE SIDEWALK, THROUGH THE SCRUBS, AND HIT THE BUILDING HEAD ON. HITTING THE BUILDING IS WHAT STOPPED MY VEHICLE, MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I THEN PUT ON THE BRAKES, PUT IT IN REVERSE AND BACKED OFF THE BUILDING, BACKING INTO THE PARKING PLACE THAT I WAS ORIGINALLY GOING INTO TO PARK. ONCE MY CAR WAS PARKED, IT BEGAN TO SMOKE. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR, LOOKED AT THE DAMAGE TO MY CAR AND THE SUBWAY BUILDING, CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY, STATE FARM AND MY SON. THE 2 EMPLOYEES IN THE SUBWAY, CALLED THE POLICE AND THE SUBWAY RESTAURANT OWNER. *TR
ON 06/19/14, I PURCHASED A 2013 MODEL CAR AT RICK CASE DEALERSHIP, LAUDERHILL, FLORIDA. ODOMETER SHOWED 7413 MILES. SUPPOSEDLY CERTIFIED AND WITH 10 YRS WARRANTY, ETC. I DRIVE SOME 7000 MILES/YR SO VEHICLE STAYS IN DRIVEWAY MOST OF THE TIME. VERY SELDOM DO I TAKE IT OUR ON THE HIGHWAY. AT ABOUT 7715 OR SO MILES OF SLOW, STREET DRIVING, I TAKE IT ON THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICE A LOUD RACKET, BANGING NOISE. I TAKE IT IN THE DEALER. DEALER SAYS THEY FOUND "A COUPLE OF LOOSE BOLTS" WHICH THEY TIGHTENED AND THAT WAS IT. THEY RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME. ABOUT A WEEK LATER,[AROUND 7850 MILES] I TAKE IT AGAIN ON THE ROAD. IT TOOK ABOUT 15 MILES OR SO OF 70+ M/H DRIVING FOR THE RACKET TO SHOW ITSELF AGAIN. I TAKE IT ONCE MORE TO THE DEALER. THIS TIME I POINTED OUR THAT I HAD NOTICED SOMETHING UNUSUAL WITH THE ALIGNMENT OF THE REAR,LEFT SHOCK ABSORBER. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALER TELLS ME THE CAR HAS BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OF SOME SORT AS THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS ALL BANGED UP, THE ABSORBER IS MISALIGNED, THE BRAKE LINE IS HANGING PRECARIOUSLY CLOSE TO THE TIRE, ETC AND THAT I MUST HAVE CAUSED THIS PROBLEM. [THEIR GALL AND AUDACITY IS AMAZING!], AS A RESULT, I HAVE TO ASSUME ALL COSTS!. THEY CLEARLY WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ME, THE CUSTOMER. SALES MANAGER SAYS THAT I "SHOULD HAVE INSPECTED" THE CAR BEFORE I BOUGHT IT..AGAIN, THE GALL OF THIS MAN! I SAW NO PROOF THAT THE CAR HAD BEEN "THOROUGHLY INSPECTED" AS HE CLAIMS. I SWEAR UNDER PENALTY OF PERJURY THAT THIS CAR WAS LIKE THAT WHEN I BOUGHT IT. I CONTEND THAT THE DEALER HAD FULL KNOWLEDGE OF THIS AND WILLINGLY AND WANTONLY SOLD IT TO ME IN THE HOPE THAT I DO NOT NOTICE MAYBE?. FINALLY, WHEN I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER THE DANGER INVOLVED IN DRIVING THIS CAR, HIS SOLUTION WAS TO "KEEP IT IN THE GARAGE" UNTIL I'M ABLE TO PAY FOR THE FIX...AGAIN, THE GALL OF THESE GUYS!. I MADE THEM WRITE EVERYTHING. *TR
AT FIRST ON OCCASION THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE MADE A METAL TO METAL GRINDING SOUND UNDER ALL BRAKING CONDITIONS. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE CUSTOMER CONCERN. TODAY IS JUNE 5TH 2013 AND THE BRAKE IS GRINDING CONSTANTLY AT 14000 MILES . BRAKES GRIND (SOUNDS LIKE METAL ON METAL CONTACT) IF APPLIED GOING OVER 20MPH IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS HOWEVER IT IS WORSE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED ON A BUMPY ROAD. DEALER HAS NOT MADE ANY SERIOUS ATTEMPTS TO FIX ISSUE EXCEPT TELLING ME IT WAS THE HUMIDITY AND PUTTING LUBE ON BRAKES WHICH DID NOT WORK. *TR

THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE GRINDING OF THE FRONT BRAKES ON MY 2013 ELANTRA COUPE FROM THE DAY I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT AND NOW IT IS 15 MONTHS LATER AND 12653 MILES LATER AND 5 TRIPS BACK TO THE DEALER TO GET IT FIXED, 1ST THEY SAID THEY TURNED THE ROTORS, 2ND THEY SAID THEY BALANCED THE WHEELS, 3RD THEY SAID THEY ALIGNED THE FRONT END, 4TH THEY SAID IT WAS A DUST PLATE, AND 5TH THEY SAID IT IS NORMAL. I WENT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER THEY SAID HYUNDAI HAD MADE NEW SOFTER PADS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I SENT AN E-MAIL TO HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CONNECT CENTER CONSUMER AFFAIRS, THEY SAID TO BRING IT BACK TO THE DEALER. ..UPDATED 04-16-14 *BF
IT WAS THE FIRST SNOW STORM IN NJ. I WAS DRIVING, GOT A RED LIGHT AND WAS SLOWING DOWN THE CAR. THERE WERE A COUPLE OF CARS STOPPING AT RED LIGHT. MY CAR WAS ALMOST STOPPED ALSO BUT THE LAST MOMENT, THE BRAKE WOULDN'T WORK AND JUST HELPLESSLY SLID AND HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS THE FIRST TIME I GOT AN ACCIDENT AND THERE WERE SO MANY SMALL ACCIDENTS AROUND SO I THOUGHT IT WAS MY MISTAKE SOMEHOW. BUT AFTERWARDS, I GET SIMILAR ISSUES AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE ANY MORE. MY CAR IS JUST ONE YEAR OLD. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 10 YEARS, NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF ISSUE BEFORE. *TR

I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK, WHEN I NOTICED THERE WAS A NEW WARNING ON MY DASHBOARD AND SO WHEN LOOKING UP WHAT IT MEANS IN MY BOOK, IT PERTAINS TO MY BRAKES!! WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER TO SCHEDULE AN APPT ABOUT ANOTHER ISSUE I AM HAVING WITH THE CAR, I TOLD HER ABOUT THIS ONE TOO. SHE SAID WE NEED TO GET YOU IN ASAP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. I COULD TELL BY HER TONE, THIS WAS NOT A GOOD THING. I EXPRESSED TO HER THAT I HAVE A (19 MO OLD), OF WHICH I CANNOT HAVE ANY MAJOR DEFAULTS WITH MY CAR, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING WITH HER IN IT- WHICH IS ALL THE TIME! I ASKED HER IF THIS WAS IN CONJUNCTION WITH MY BRAKES MAKING A GRINDING NOISE AND SHE SAID SHE DIDN'T KNOW. I TOLD HER I HAVE ONLY HAD THE (NEW OFF THE LOT) FOR A YEAR OR MORE AND HAVE HAD A STRING OF ISSUES. I AM NOT IMPRESSED TO SAY THE LEAST!! THIS IS MINOR IN COMPARISON TO SOME, BUT THE UPHOLSTERY ON MY SIDE ON THE RIGHT (FLOOR BOARD) HAS COMPLETELY TORN APART. IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE HAD CUT IT, LIKE WHEN I BROUGHT MY CAR IN THE LAST TIME TO GET WORKED ON FROM THIS DEALER. SHE ASSURED ME THEY WOULD NEVER CUT THE FLOOR AND I SAID WHAT HAPPENED TO IT THEN AND SHE SAID A POOR JOB WHEN MADE BY HYUNDAI. GRANTED, THEY ARE GOING TO REPLACE IT, BUT NOW I HAVE A MORE IMPORTANT ISSUE TO ATTEND TO- MY BRAKES. BAD UPHOLSTERY IS NOT GOING TO PUT ME OR MY DAUGHTER IN DANGER, BUT BAD BRAKES WILL! WHEN I ASKED THE DEALER IF ANY OF MY CURRENT AND PAST ISSUES WITH THIS CAR IS NORMAL, SHE SAID TO BE HONEST- NO IT IS NOT! IF I HAVE TO CONTACT HYUNDAI, I WILL AND I WILL NOT GIVE UP UNTIL MY ISSUES HAVE BEEN RESOLVED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DECELERATE BUT THE BRAKES FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,000.
I HAD TO STOP MODERATELY HARD AT 50 MPH AND WHEN I DID MY BRAKES MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND VIBRATED VERY ROUGH. I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A HYUNDAI TSB CAMPAIGN FOR THE BRAKES ISSUED DECEMBER 2012 AND THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY THE DEALER BEFORE THE CAR WAS SOLD BUT THE DEALERSHIP (KEY HYUNDAI IN JACKSONVILLE, FL) NEGLECTED TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PADS. *TR
I OWN A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA WITH APPROXIMATELY 9000 MILES ON IT AS OF MAY 2013. IN JANUARY I HAD THE CAR SITTING OUTSIDE OVERNIGHT, AND WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE IT THE NEXT MORNING I NOTICED A GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE BRAKES. I STOPPED AND GOT OUT TO NOTICE ALL FOUR ROTORS WERE RUSTED. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER, AND AFTER INSPECTION THEY SAID ALL FOUR ROTORS WERE SEVERELY RUSTED. THEY MACHINE SHOPPED THE ROTORS DOWN SO THEY WOULD MAKE A NOISE OR MAKE THE CAR PULSATE WHILE STOPPING. THE FIRST WEEK OF MAY I LEFT THE CAR SIT OUTSIDE OVER THE ENTIRE WEEKEND. WHEN I LEFT FOR WORK MONDAY MORNING I NOTICED THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS PULSATING AND MAKING A GRINDING SOUND AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE PREVIOUS SITUATION. THEY SAID THAT THIS TYPE OF SITUATION HAPPENS IF THE CAR IS LEFT IN MOISTURE OVERNIGHT. I TOLD THEM THAT IS RIDICULOUS SINCE MANY PEOPLE DON'T HAVE THE LUXURY OF A GARAGE. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN THE SHOP AGAIN TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT. I AM NOW WAITING TILL THE NEXT APPOINTMENT TO BRING THE CAR IN. I HAVE A 2012 HYUNDAI TUCSON THAT SITS OUTSIDE MORE THAN THIS CAR AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES BEFORE! *TR

CLICKING AND GRINDING NOISES COULD BE HEARD. THE CONTACT COASTED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION BEFORE THE BRAKES ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. AFTER INSPECTION, THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,800. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,000......UPDATED 05/09/13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKES FAILED A SECOND TIME COMING TO A STOP AT 20 MPH. THERE IS AN EXTREMELY LOUD GRINDING NOISE THAT KEEPS COMING FROM MY BRAKES. I WAS PULLING UP TO A MAILBOX AND I WAS ON MY CELLPHONE AND SOMEONE ASKED ME WHAT THAT NOISE WAS AS IT WAS SO LOUD THEY COULD HEAR IT! I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A LITTLE BIT OF RUST ON THE ROTOR!! I JUST HAD THE 7500 MILE CHECK UP AND GOT ALL GREEN CHECKS BUT 10 DAYS LATER THE GRINDING IS EVEN LOUDER THAN BEFORE. I DREAD EVEN PUTTING ON MY BRAKES AND I AM NOT CONFIDENT IF PEOPLE JUMP OUT IN FRONT OF ME THAT THEY WILL RESPOND PROPERLY. I PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND WENT ON TO CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AND THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE SAYING THE SAME THINGS WITH AS LOW AS 20 MILES ON THE CAR. SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG HERE. THIS IS MY FIFTH BRAND NEW CAR IN THE LAST TEN YEARS SO I KNOW THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE GOING ON. *TR
HAD BEEN HEARING A GRINDING NOISE WHEN BRAKING ESPECIALLY WHEN IT WOULD RAIN OUT AND ON THE ADVICE MADE AN APPT TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER THE BRAKES GAVE OUT AND MY CAR HIT INTO MY HUSBANDS CAR THAT WAS DRIVING IN FRONT OF ME TO THE DEALER SO HE COULD DRIVE ME HOME. AT FIRST THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITHTHE BRAKES I INSISTED THEY KEEP IT OVERNIGHT AND THEYSAID THEY WOULD DRIVE IT WHEN THE CAR WAS COLD. THANKFULLY IT RAINED HARD THAT NIGHT AND EVEN THOUGH THEY WAITED TIL THE AFTERNOON TO DRIVE IT THEY WERE STILL ABLE TO HEAR THE GRINDING ALTHOUGH NOT NEARLY AS LOUD AS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IF THEY DROVE IT IN THE MORNING. THEY SAID THE ROTORS WERE BUILDING UP CORROSION SO THEY WOULD REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS IT SEEMS TO BE A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM I INTEND TO INSIST TOMORROW THEY CHANGE THE ROTORS TOO BUT THE FACT STILL REMAINS THAT THERE IS NOW EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF MY CAR. THIS IS A NEW CAR AND THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING JUST 2 DAYS PRIOR MY HUSBAND LOST THE BRAKES FOR A FEW SECONDS THIS IS A POTENTIALLY VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, HE HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BRAKES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A THUMPING NOISE THAT WAS HEARD FROM THE VEHICLE ONCE THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED FOR AN ABRUPT STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES AND DID NOT PROVIDE ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 700.
2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO WINDSHIELD WIPER DESIGN FAILURE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE WIPER BLADE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS VERY SHORT AND THE BOTTOM END OF THE WIPER BLADE LEFT A SEMI-CIRCULAR WATER STREAK RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE PERSON SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT ON EVERY WIPE OF THE BLADE. ALSO, THERE WAS A SPOT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELDS WHERE THE PASSENGER WIPER BLADE LEFT A SHORT INVERTED "V" TYPE SPOT THAT THE DRIVER'S WIPER BLADE DID NOT CLEAN WHICH WOULD FREEZE INTO IN THE WINTER. THE CONSUMER STATED THE STEERING WAS TOO SENSITIVE. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE HAS ELECTRIC STEERING WHICH MAY BE RELATED TO THE CONDITION. THE STEERING WAS SO SENSITIVE, THAT HE HAD TO CONSTANTLY MOVE THE WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT JUST TO STAY OUT OF THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE AND STAY IN HIS LANE OF TRAFFIC. SEVERAL TIMES, WHILE DRIVING, IN A SLIGHT CROSSING WIND WITH VARIOUS GROUPS OF TREES, THE LEVEL OF STEERING SENSITIVITY FORCED HIM TO RUN OFF THE EDGE OF THE ROAD TO AVOID ENTERING THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE. ALSO, ON A FEW OCCASIONS, THE CONSUMER HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES HARDER THAN NORMAL, BUT NOT HARD ENOUGH TO ENGAGE THE ABS. WITH THE ELECTRIC ASSISTED STEERING, IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO FEEL IF THE VEHICLE WAS CENTERED IN HIS LANE PRIOR TO USING THE BRAKES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PULL OFF THE ROAD HE MOVED HIS RIGHT FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO THE BRAKE AND HIS SHOE BECAME STUCK UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL CAUSING HIM TO CRASH INTO A SIGN. AS A RESULT, THE FRONT FENDER AND FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR BECAME DAMAGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER THAN THE ACCELERATOR POSING A SAFETY HAZARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HEARD A SQUEAKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS RUST ON THE ROTORS AND THE RATTLE CLIPS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO MEET WITH A REPRESENTATIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500. ...
