EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model 2013 Elantra vehicles manufactured December 1, 2012, to April 30, 2013. The brake pedal stopper pad can deteriorate allowing the brake light switch plunger to remain extended when the brake pedal is released.
Fix: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake pedal stopper pad with an improved part, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on September 30, 2016. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 146.

After the recall at Hyundai, my car wouldn't run and there were many lights on the dashboard. It was later checked and the instability light problem persisted. They fixed on the same time, and say something problem with the update. They later informed me that I have a problem with the brake switch, and the brake lights don't work because of it. I replaced and doesn’t work, I went back to the store and they want me to pay a fee to have it analyzed again. Even though before the recall, the lights and the car were working perfectly.
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that the brake pedal stopper was fractured, causing the brake lights to remain illuminated. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where an unknown diagnosis and an unknown repair were completed; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 199,500.
Blinkers hyper flash with head lights off, get stuck on one direction. dont work when head lights are on. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM with this car and it is known but nothing has ever been done.
The vehicle brake lamps, both left/right and center continually burn out. The bulbs burn out every few months. The tail lamps remain lit, but the stop lamps burn out regularly. There seems to be a recurring problems with this make and model. Hyundai must be aware as this safety issue presents a crash hazards. Non functioning brake lamps.
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. The contact became aware that after it rained, there was water inside the driver’s and passenger’s side rear taillights assembly, causing the bulbs to become inoperable. The contact replaced the light bulbs. The dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that there was no recall regarding the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was 38,000.
MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE STUCK AND WILL NOT TURN OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR ME TO DRIVE. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I CAN DO TO GET THIS REPAIR COMPLETED. IT STATES I HAVE NO ACTIVE RECALLS, HOWEVER, THE PAGE I JUST WAS ON TO GET TO THIS SITE STATED I HAVE ONE FOR MY BRAKE PEDAL STOP.

Driver side airbag dash light goes on and off (mostly on). No accident or previous deployment of the airbag. Also, while under warranty the tail light and break light wiring was replaced as they would burn out approx. every 6 months. One light after another: tail light, break light, blinker, etc. It's happening again... seems to be a wiring or component issue. Have to keep bulbs in the car with me at all times.
I am having trouble with the exterior lights on my vehicle. That includes brake lights, tail lights, head lights, turn signals (front and rear). I am constantly replacing them as one or several are always out. My safety and/or the safety of others are put at risk because of no brake lights, someone may rear end me, or having difficulty seeing in front of me at night when head lights fail. I've taken my vehicle to several different locations to have my bulbs changed, and I've also changed a few myself. There is no way to know when a brake light is out, unless I'm getting an oil change, as I did today, and had to pay to have two more bulbs replaced, and thankfully he was kind enough to charge the 3rd at no cost. I've also been pulled over to let me know my bulbs weren't working, or having random people in traffic let me know.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE THE LICENSE PLATE BULBS IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE LICENSE PLATE BULB HOUSING, AS WELL AS THE OUTER TAIL LAMP HOUSINGS, SHOWED EVIDENCE OF THE INTERNAL PLASTICS MELTING. IT APPEARS THAT THE HEAT FROM THE LAMPS WAS ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE HOUSINGS AND INTERNAL LENSE PLASTICS TO HEAT BEYOND THE GLASS TRANSITION TEMPERATURE OF THE PLASTICS UTILIZED BY HYUNDAI. BOTH OUTER TAIL LAMP HOUSINGS AND LICENSE PLATE BULB HOUSES WERE REPLACED DUE TO THE DAMAGED. THE ORIGINAL BULBS WERE ALL CHECKED TO ENSURE THEY WERE CORRECT PER THE VEHICLE MANUAL, WHICH THEY WERE.
FOR THE BRAKES AND LIGHTING ISSUE, MY BRAKE LIGHTS GO BAD EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS AND NEED CHANGED. I BELIEVE THIS IS POSSIBLY TO DO WITH THE RECALL FOR BRAKES. I HAVE HAD PEOPLE ON MANY OCCASIONS STOP ME IN TRAFFIC TO LET ME KNOW AN ENTIRE SIDE OF LIGHTS WERE OUT AT ONCE. I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER MORE THAN ONCE AS WELL FOR MY BRAKE LIGHTS IN THE FOUR YEARS I'VE HAD MY CAR. I ALWAYS KEEP SPARE LIGHTS IN MY CAR FOR THIS REASON. I CALLED A&B KIA, WHERE I BOUGHT MY CAR, WHO SAID MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. HOWEVER, WITH THE MANY ISSUES I'VE HAD WITH MY BRAKE LIGHTS I BELIEVE IT IS RELATED. MORE RECENTLY THAN MY BRAKES, MY CRUISE CONTROL HAS STOPPED WORKING. WITHIN THE PAST YEAR IT HAS SLOWLY WENT FROM WORKING SOMETIMES TO NOT WORKING AT ALL. OTHER FUNCTIONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL, SUCH AS VOLUME AND RADIO CONTROLS HAVE NOT BEEN AFFECTED.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE SEVERAL EXTERIOR LIGHTS ( LIGHT BULBS) IN THE 7 YEARS I HAVE OWNED MY CAR, INCLUDING REAR BRAKE LIGHTS, REAR TURNING SIGNAL LIGHTS, REAR TAIL LIGHTS, AND FRONT HEADLIGHT BULBS. I CURRENTLY HAVE A LEFT SIDE REAR BRAKE LIGHT THAT CONTINUES TO GO OUT EVERY 3-6 MONTHS, JUST HAD IT REPLACED BY MY AUTO SHOP 3-4 MONTHS AGO WITH INSPECTION OF THE WIRING TO THAT LIGHT (FOUND TO BE OK).
SINCE I OWNING THIS CAR I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH ALL LIGHTS. BOTH HEADLIGHT LAMPS HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A DEFECT. ALSO I HAD BEEN REPLACING TAIL, BRAKE, AND TURNING SIGNAL LIGHTS AT EVERY OIL CHANGE BECAUSE ONE OR THE OTHER WILL BE OUT. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE THIS MANY BULBS ON ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE OWNED. THIS OIL CHANGE JUNE 27, 2020 I HAD 3 BULBS OUT BREAK, TAIL LIGHT AND PARKING LIGHT ALL OUT AT THE SAME TIME. THIS HAS BEEN AND FEELS LIKE IT'S GOING TO BE AN ON GOING PROBLEM NOT TO MENTION THE COST EVERYTIME THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEM LIGHT ARE NOT CHEAP. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLAMP SWITCH HAD TO BE MANIPULATED BY HAND FOR THE HEADLAMPS TO OPERATE AS INTENDED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BULBS WERE REPLACED QUITE OFTEN. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE TAILLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY FAILED TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER IN FRESNO, CALIFORNIA, WHERE THE REAR THIRD BRAKE LAMP WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
BRAKE LIGHT REPLACED COUNTLESS TIMES ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. IT CONTINUES TO BURN OUT.
I HAVE REPLACED EVERY LIGHT IN THE REAR OF THIS CAR OVER AND OVER FOR THE PAST YEAR. THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT ACTUALLY MELTED. I HAVE NEVER HAD SO MANY ISSUES WITH REAR LIGHTS IN A CAR.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKE STOPPER AND SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.

RANDOMLY LAST WEEK, THE RED AIRBAG LIGHT APPEARED ON MY DASH. THE LIGHT WOULD GO OFF AND ON ABOUT EVERY 5-10 MINUTES, WHILE DRIVING AND STATIONARY. SOME DAYS, THE LENGTH OF TIME IT WAS OFF WOULD EXTEND LONGER THAN OTHER. OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS, THE LIGHT HAS REMAINED ON CONSISTENTLY. I READ SIMILAR ISSUES ONLINE FROM OTHER 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA OWNERS WHO STATED THAT THE DRIVER AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF THIS LIGHT IS ON IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION. YET, I FOUND NO RECALLS ONLINE. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PRIOR ISSUES WITH FALSE WARNING LIGHTS AND THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY TYPE OF ACCIDENT IN OVER 4 YEARS. THERE IS NO WAY FOR ME TO MAINTAIN THESE SAFETY FEATURES IN MY CAR SO I WILL NOT PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX AN ISSUE THAT WAS NOT CAUSED DUE LACK OF OWNER DILIGENCE. HOWEVER, I NEED TO ENSURE MY CAR WILL DEPLOY ANY SAFETY FUNCTIONS IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT WHEN TRIGGERED.

CPSC:PURCHASED SYLVANIA H11 SILVERSTAR BULB REPLACEMENT FOR CAR HEADLIGHT THAT SHORTLY AFTER TURNING HEADLIGHT ON EXPLODED IN MY FACE DURING INSTALLATION IN WALMART PARKING LOT LEAVING VERY PAINFUL BURNS STINGING AND BLEEDING FROM GLASS SHARD LACERATIONS TO EYE, FACE AND HAND THEN HAD INTENSE HEADACHE NOSEBLEED NOT WELL FEELING IN GENERAL....RINGING IN EARS AND BURNS CONTINUE TO BE EXTREMELY PAINFUL NEXT DAY THOUGH BLEEDING HAS STOPPED. *BF UPDATED 04/17/2017*JS
SIDE BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OUT AND OVERHEATED MELTING AND CRACKING THE LENS. THIS IS A DEFECT THAT COSTS 560.00. DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THAT A VEHICLE WITH THIS TYPE OF LIGHT DOESN'T HAVE A SAFETY MECHANISM TO WARN THE DRIVER. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.

REAR SIGNAL AND TAIL LIGHTS FREQUENTLY BECOME LOOSE IN LAMP SOCKETS AND FAIL TO PROPERLY FUNCTION. LIGHT FIXTURES MUST BE ACCESSED TO RESET THE LAMP, BULB. VEHICLE ONLY HAS ABOUT 57,000 MILES AND THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FROM AROUND 34,000 MILES. 3 EACH TAIL LIGHT AND 1 LICENSE PLATE LIGHT HAVE ALSO BURNED OUT AND WERE REPLACED. SAME PROBLEM CONTINUES WITH BULBS LOOSENING UP AT FREQUENT INTERVALS. OCCURS AT ANY PERIOD, STOPPED OR IN MOTION.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING - PARKING LIGHTS TURNING ON WHILE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND PARKED. USUALLY HAPPENS OVERNIGHT WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPS CLOSE TO OR BELOW FREEZING. ALSO HEADLIGHTS TURNING OFF ON THEIR OWN WHILE CAR IS RUNNING AND TURN SIGNALS ARE USED. HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT CAR THREE TIMES AND COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, AND THE ONLY PARTS THEY REPLACED WERE A SWITCH INHIBITOR (PART 42700-26500) AND A NEW CAR BATTERY. NONE OF THIS CORRECTED THE ISSUE AND THEY DON'T HAVE A SOLUTION FOR US OTHER THAN TO COMPLAIN TO HYUNDAI. THIS LEAVES US WITH A CAR THAT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT AND WITH A CONSTANT DEAD CAR BATTERY. THE HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE CASE NUMBER WE HAVE IS 9687427, AND SO FAR THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION FOR US AND HAVE NOT CONTACTED US BACK FOR WEEKS NOW.

ENGINE FAILURE. ZERO COMPRESSION CYLINDER #1. SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE PURCHASE ON 10/18/2016. ALSO, TIRE PRESSURE PROBLEM, ESC LIGHT COMES ON, DASHBOARD GAUGES INOPERATIVE. FUEL MILEAGE BELOW WHAT IS ADVERTISED. NEITHER HUNDAI NOR ENTERPRISE WILL FIX THE PROBLEM AFTER REPEATED DEMANDS. ALSO, THERE IS A RECALL REGARDING "STOPPER PAD" AND STOP LAMP SWITCH. BOUGHT VEHICLE, CASH, FROM ENTERPRISE CAR SALES IN MONTCLAIR, CA. IT WAS A "CERTIFIED" USED CAR, SUPPOSEDLY. IMMEDIATELY I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE SOUNDED "TINNY". SOUNDED LIKE A SEWING MACHINE, IT WAS KNOCKING. ALSO, WHEN I LIFTED THE OIL STICK, SMOKE CAME OUT OF ENGINE. THIS WAS WITHIN 2 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE. THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST COMPRESSION ON INTERSTATE 10 IN APRIL, 2015. I TOLD BOTH HYUNDAI AND ENTERPRISE WHO IGNORED MY COMPLAINTS. FINALLY, AFTER SEVERAL COMPLAINTS AND THREATS, ENTERPRISE TOOK THE CAR IN AND SENT IT TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WHO CLAIMED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. THE CAR BEGAN LOSING POWER AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER, 2016 AND FINALLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET IN ARCADIA, CA. NO COMPRESSION. IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO MY HOUSE. I TOOK IT TO PRIVATE SHOP WHO SAID "ZERO COMPRESSION IN CYLINDER #1, POSSIBLE BURNED OUT VALVE '. SEE ATTACHED. CALLED HYINDAI AND ENTERPRISE AGAIN. BOTH DENIED RESPONSIBILITY, AND REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. I HAVE TO NOW PAY OVER $1,000 TO GET ENGINE REBUILT. THIS CAR IS A LEMON AND I AM ENTTIED TO REFUND OR A NEW CAR.

READING THE OWNERS MANUAL COMPLETELY, I'VE FOUND THE INFO ON THE LIGHT SWITCH STALK SETTINGS MISLEADING & DOESN'T OFFER A CLEAR EXPLANATION.. THE LIGHT SWITCH INDICATES POSITIONS FOR, "DRL OFF, PARKING LAMPS & HEADLAMPS", BUT THE ONLY WAY TO OPERATE DRL'S ARE WHILE PARKING LAMPS SWITCHED ON. THAT MEANS, DRL'S ALONG WITH FULL NIGHTTIME ILLUMINATION OF EVERY EXTERIOR LIGHT EXCEPT HEADLAMPS, INCLUDING FRONT & REAR PARKING LIGHTS, SIDE MARKER LAMPS & LICENSE PLATE LAMPS. I FIND THE "LIMITED" MODELS HAVE AUTOMATIC HEADLAMPS CONTROL & ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THEIR DRL'S RUN INDEPENDENT OF OTHER EXTERIOR LAMPS. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER WITH THIS CONCERN & WAS TOLD, IT IS CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS MODEL (EXCLUDING THE LIMITED MODELS). IT IS ILLEGAL IN SOME STATES TO RUN PARKING LAMPS, PLUS IN ORDER TO HAVE DRL'S ON, THE VEHICLE MUST PROVIDE EXTRA POWER (REDUCED MPG'S) TO RUN ALL THOSE OTHER LAMPS, REDUCES BULB LIFE, ETC. IN ADDITION, THE DASH LIGHT ILLUMINATION DOES NOT DIM FROM FULL-BRIGHT WHEN HEADLAMPS ARE SWITCHED ON. THERE IS A MANUAL DIMMER SWITCH, BUT DIMMING MUST BE RAISED/LOWERED EACH TIME BEFORE DRIVING IN DAY OR NIGHT CONDITIONS. WHAT OTHER VEHICLE DOES THIS? THESE THINGS SEEM TO BE AN OVERSIGHT ON THE PART OF HYUNDAI. NO INDICATION OR DISCERNIBLE DIFFERENCES ON INSTRUMENTATION WHETHER DRL PARKING LAMPS OR HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. *TR
THERE ARE NO TRUE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS AS ADVERTISED SINCE ONE HAS TO TURN ON ALL THE OTHER RUNNING LIGHTS (AMBER FOR FRONT, RED IN REAR) IN ORDER FOR THE LOW BEAM "DRLS" TO FUNCTION. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR. IT WAS A DARK ROAD IN THE NIGHT. PERHAPS SHE DIDN'T SEE THE STOP SIGN AND CRASHED INTO A VEHICLE COMING FROM RIGHT HAND SIDE, GOING IN THE SAME DIRECTION MY WIFE WAS GOING. MY WIFE CRASHED THE OTHER VEHICLE FROM BEHIND. IT WAS SERIOUS CRASH IN WHICH THE ENTIRE FRONT PORTION OF THE CAR IS DAMAGED. BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT COME OUT. MY WIFE HAD HER HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND HAD AN INJURY. TWO ISSUES: (1) I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON MAY 26, 2013. I FOUND OUT THAT THE GOV. HAD ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE ELANTRA MODELS BUILT FROM 11-12-2010 THROUGH 3-5-2013. MY CAR WAS ASSEMBLED ON FEB, 22, 2013. I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT THIS AT TIME OF PURCHASE AND HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION FROM HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA. THE DEALERS ARE NOT RESPONSIVE. (2) THE "AUTO-DIMMING REARVIEW MIRROR WITH HOMELINK & COMPASS" RARELY FUNCTIONS. REAL PROBLEM IS THAT MIRROR IMAGE AND HEADLIGHTS ARE SAME INTENSITY/ CLARITY WHETHER UNIT IS TURNED ON OR OFF--VERY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT. THE DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS ON MY NEW 2013 ELANTRA DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON AUTOMATICALLY. THE OWNER'S MANUAL DOESN'T PROVIDE CORRECT INFORMATION ON HOW THIS FEATURE WORKS. THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS IS TO TURN ON THE PARKING LIGHTS, WHICH ALSO MEANS THE TAIL LIGHTS AND THE DASH LIGHTS COME ON. HOW CAN A DEALER CLAIM THE DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHT FEATURE IS INCLUDED WHEN IT TRULY ISN'T. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND NO WAY ARE THESE TRULY DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH IN A DIM AREA, THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTING APPEARED TO BE DIMMER THAN NORMAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE POSED AS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE HE RESIDED IN A MOUNTAINOUS AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE CONTACT'S CONCERNS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,000.

CAR IS ADVERTISED AS HAVING DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS (DRL'S). THE DRL'S DO NOT OPERATE NORMALLY ON MY 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA COUPE AS THEY ARE NOT ON "AUTOMATICALLY" WHEN DRIVING. IF THE LIGHT STALK IS IN THE OFF POSITION THE DRL'S ARE OFF. WHEN I TURN THE DRL'S ON, THE PARKING LIGHTS (AMBER SIDE LIGHTS AND THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS) ARE TURNED ON AS WELL. IN ADDITION TO IT BEING ILLEGAL IN SOME STATES TO DRIVE WITH PARKING LIGHTS ON THIS SETUP MAKES MY BRAKE LIGHTS LESS NOTICEABLE DURING THE DAY (WHEN I DO BRAKE) AS THEY ARE ALREADY LIT UP. ALSO, WHEN TURNING THE DRL'S ON, THE INTERIOR GAUGE LIGHTS ARE AUTOMATICALLY DIMMED WHICH IS A FEATURE FOR NIGHT DRIVING, NOT DAYTIME DRIVING WITH DRL'S. *TR

THE SWITCH THAT TURNS ON/OFF THE HEADLIGHTS IS ALSO THE "DRL OFF/ON" SWITCH. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI VIA EMAIL AND THEY REFER ME TO THE OWNERS MANUAL. IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA ITS ILLEGAL TO DRIVE WITH THE PARKING LIGHTS ON DURING THE DAY (UNLESS IT'S RAINING OR VISIBILITY IS HUNDRED. I BELIEVE IT MAY BE ILLEGAL IN OTHER STATES ALSO. THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT DRL SYSTEM ON THIS CAR IS FLAWED. A PROPER DRL SYSTEM REQUIRES NO USER ACTION TO ACTIVATE AND ONLY ILLUMINATES THE LOWER BEAM LIGHTS. ON MY 2013 ELANTRA, YOU HAVE TO TURN THE LIGHTING STALK TO THE PARKING LAMP POSITION IN ORDER TO ACTIVATE THEM AND WHEN YOU DO, THE LOW BEAMS AND ALL 4 PARKING LAMPS ILLUMINATE. THE HYUNDAI CASE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT ON THE AMERICAN-MADE MODELS IT IS NECESSARY TO TURN THE PARKING LIGHTS ON, AND THAT THIS IS THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM. EVERY CAR HAS PARKING LIGHTS; THEY ARE NOT ON WHENEVER A VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND MUST BE TURNED ON. THESE ARE NOT DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ON WHENEVER THE HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT ON. THE STICKER ON THE CAR MAY CLAIM THAT THE CAR HAS DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS, BUT IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS IS A LIE; THERE ARE NO DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ON THE CAR. A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY FEATURE HAS BEEN LEFT OFF THE CAR. *TT

I GOT THIS CAR A FEW DAYS AGO. THE WINDOW STICKER CLAIMS IT HAS DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. THE LIGHTING STOCK HAS THREE OPTIONS. THE OPTIONS ARE "DRL OFF, DAYTIME LIGHTS, AND NIGHT TIME LIGHTS." WHEN DAYTIME LIGHTS ARE ACTIVATED, IT ACTIVATES THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS, BUT ALSO ACTIVATES REAR LIGHTS AND DIMS INTERIOR GAUGE LIGHTS TO "NIGHT LIGHTING" LEVELS. THIS POSES SEVERAL SAFETY RISKS. FIRSTLY, PEOPLE MAY STRUGGLE TO READ INTERIOR GAUGES WHEN DRIVING DURING THE DAY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A COLLISION. SECONDLY, THE ACTIVATED REAR LIGHTS ADDS CONFUSION DURING THE DAY AND COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF OTHER MOTORISTS CRASHING INTO THE REAR. *TT
