Tire 235/55 R-17 99 T. the steering wheel started to shimmy while driving. I took the vehicle into the service shop found that the a section of the tire was indented and the inside of the tire had a bubble. The repair shop stated this was caused by the tread separating. The tire had to be replaced. The tire is 2.5 years old and the tread on the inside was heavily worn while the outside tread was in good shape. The replace tire indicator was still intact. I purchased this tire at the same time i purchased the driver side tire.
235/55 R-17 99T This is one of a set of two tires I purchased in Oct. 2021. The passenger side front tire had the same issue discovered a few weeks earlier. The steering wheel started to shake while driving. I took the vehicle to the shop who informed me the tread was separating like the passenger tire was separating a few weeks earlier. Again the tire was more worn on the inside versus the outside tread. The replace tire indicator was still in place. It seems very odd that both tires purchased and installed at the same time had the same issue with the tread separating. I have both tires in my garage if anyone wants to inspect them.
I HAVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE WITH 26000 MILES, OEM TIRE ARE CONTINENTAL CONTITAC PRO 235/50/18 H.THE TIRE HAVE PREMATURE FAILURE WITH CHUNKS OF RUBBER VISIBLY DETACHED FROM THE TREAD BASE. I HAVE CONTACTED CONTINENTAL REQUESTING AN ADJUSTMENT, THEIR RESPONSE WAS THERE IS NO MILEAGE WARRANTY ON OEM EQUIPMENT. HOW DO I PERSUADE CONTINENTAL TO ADJUST THIS SET OF TIRE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THAT VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTI PRO CONTACT TIRES, SIZE 235/550R18 (NA). WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR ROUTINE INSPECTION, THE FRONT TIRES WERE FOUND WITH PREMATURE STEEL BELT SEPARATION. ONE OF THE FRONT TIRES WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE REAR TIRES EXHIBITED SIDEWALL FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH ON RESIDENTIAL STREET HAVING JUST COMPLETE A LEFT TURN WHEN HER FRONT LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT CAUSING HER TO LOSE CONTROL OF HE CAR AND HIT THE CURB. THE COLLISION WITH THE CURB RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO THE FRONT LEFT RIM.THE TREADS ON TIRES APPEARED TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE THE CAR HAD ONLY 28,856 MILES ON IT AND THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY A YEAR OLD. WE PLACED ALL THE TIRES AFTER READING SIMILAR STORIES ABOUT CONTINENTAL TIRES ON THE INTERNET. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 32 YEARS AND HAVE VERY EXPERIENCED ANYTHING CLOSE TO THIS ON RELATIVELY NEW CAR/ TIRES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON IH 10 IN SAN ANTONIO GOING APPROXIMATELY 65 MILES PER HOUR IN MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE THAT I HAVE HAD FOR JUST OVER A YEAR. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 19,500 MILES ON THESE TIRES. MY REAR PASSENGER TIRE BLEW OUT (LITERALLY THE TREAD BLEW RIGHT OFF THE SIDEWALL) AND RIPPED THE PLASTIC SKIRTING OFF MY PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR. WE CHANGED TO THE SPARE AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS TOLD MY CONTINENTAL CONTIPROCONTACT TIRE WOULD BE SENT BACK TO CONTINENTAL TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY- AFTER READING THE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS, WE WILL NOW BE CHANGING ALL 4 OF OUR TIRES (THIS IS AFTER SPENDING ABOUT $175 YESTERDAY ON A NEW CONTINENTAL SO THAT WE COULD ATTEMPT TO FILE A WARRANTY CLAIM). THE TIRE IN QUESTION IS CONTINENTAL CONTI PRO CONTACT 235/55R 17. AT THIS POINT, THE BEST THAT WE CAN HOPE FOR IS THAT THEY WILL GIVE US "UP TO 62% REIMBURSEMENT" PER THE DEALER BECAUSE OF MY MILEAGE, REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT THERE WAS PLENTY OF TREAD DEPTH LEFT ON THE TIRE AND I HAD NOT PUNCTURED IT OR RUN OVER ANYTHING OTHER THAN ROADWAY. *TR
