Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013 Escape vehicles manufactured from October 5, 2011, through July 11, 2012, and equipped with a 1.6L engine subject to prior safety recall NHTSA 12V-336. In some cases, the engine compartment fuel line may have been installed incorrectly when repaired under the prior recall. The misinstalled fuel line could chafe and eventually leak fuel.
Fix: Ford will notify owners and dealers will inspect the engine compartment fuel line, and if necessary, replace it, free of charge. An interim notice will be mailed to owners during January 2014. The recall began on April 9, 2014. Owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's recall number is 13S12.

Ford is recalling certain model year 2013 Escape vehicles manufactured from October 5, 2011, through July 11, 2012, and equipped with a 1.6L engine. These vehicles have an engine compartment fuel line which may split, resulting in a leak.
Fix: Ford will notify and instruct owners to stop driving their vehicles and contact a Ford or Lincoln dealer to arrange pick-up of their vehicle. Customers will be provided with a rental vehicle if needed. The dealer will replace the engine compartment fuel line, free charge. The recall began on August 10, 2012. Owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.

The contact stated that while his mother-in-law was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle began to shake excessively, prompting the contact to discontinue driving the vehicle. On Tuesday July 30,2024 I started to notice the smell of gasoline inside my car, did not drive for 2 days, then on August 3rd the fumes were so strong they were making me sick. Parked car and called dealership Monday morning July 5. Not able to take me in until August 15, 2024. There were no warning lights on dashboard just the smell of gasoline, This problem could start a fire under the hood, hope to get it to dealership and they can resolve the problem.0

While getting gas the other day , when I put the fuel in my car the nozzle into the gas tank a hissing sound came out of it out of the gas tank and it smelled like gas really bad, then I ran a code thing on my car said can't un able to bleed up fuel tank , I don't know why then after I got the gas when pulling the nozzle out it did it again , then my car would not start ,
My 2013 has developed a gas leak. It is a small leak and shooting gasoline in the engine. It looks like there was a recall on some vehicles in this make/model and year but mine did not qualify. The recall number is 13S12. I would like for it to be included since it is a known issue in other vehicles in that same time frame. My car is not safe to drive as the gasoline in the hot engine could catch on fire.
There is a defective fuel line that is rapidly leaking fuel and is a fire hazard. I found out that this part was recalled leading up to July 2012. My vehicle vas built in August of 2012 and it is the exact same part. The recall on the earlier models is 12S35. It's the exact part and issue in the later models, yet hasn't been recalled

The smell of gas is overwhelming. It reeks of gas and there was a recall on the 2013 Ford Escape for this reason, yet this vehicle isn’t associated with the recall. No mechanic will look at it due to the strong emission of gas.
This is the 1.6l engine it has a main fuel line problem in the engine area that is leaking fuel. I see recall but FORD says my car not affected in recall. Praise God no incident at this time. But I've had a Ford mechanic look at the codes my Escape is giving, has seen how it drives and told me the CVP is stuck. This is the exact same issue as for the Fuel Tank Deformation recall Ford currently has out. Because I could not afford the repair I'm driving on a wing and a prayer. But now I see that my vehicle should be included in that recall and doing what I can to make that known and heard.
In 2019 Ford replaced my "entire fuel line" due to a recall. Yesterday I found out why my car started to smell like gas, there's a pinhole size leak in my fuel line. Mechanic said it's not rubbing on anything and it's protected by the undercover piece and there would be no way for flying debri or anything to damage it. How did the recalled fuel line last longer than the replacement fuel line?!
The coolant system is plugged somewhere causing it to not drain properly into all components and me having to fill my coolant tank every other week.

While accelerating the car repeatedly hesitates, but keeps on going. It is like a hiccup, never stopping. Called the dealer he wanted to charge me for a diagnosis and could not promise me that my care would be serviced in a timely manner. (this was not the dealer I purchased the car from)It was one closer to my home. I have a warranty from the Purchasing Dealer. I purchased the car on 8/2/2022.

I noticed the smell of gas when I parked one night. The next day after I drove it the smell of gas was very strong. I stopped the car and checked under the hood. The fuel line that connected to the fuel rail was leaking gas onto the engine. I consider myself lucky that it did not catch on fire. Ford did a recall for this years ago from what I have learned from the internet, but for some reason mine was not recalled. I have ordered the new fuel line and waiting for it to arrive. I have removed the leaking fuel line and have it if you would like to examine it.
I purchased my 2013 ford escape vehical in febuary 2022 from a local transmission shop, so iv've had it for a good 7 months and its has been nothing but problem after problem with this vehical, the first issue i noticed was the brake fluid leak and i was having to coonstatly refil it until i was able to pay someone to repair it for me. Also My coolant is needing to be filled up about every 2 weeks, and i have to constantly check it just to be sure because sometimes the light wont even pop up. The most recent issue that im having is a huge fuel leak, it just started about 4 days ago and its spraying out of a metal fule line by the engine, after doing some research its a recall for the year and make of my vehical, i called ford in to get information on what i could do and they bassicallly said they wouldnt repair it since my vin number is not linked with that specific recal. I'm a single mother of a 2 year old and this is my only source of transportation, i do not have the funds to repair this and i do believe alot of the issues are recalls and should be fixed and covered by ford.

My car just cut off while I was driving. The car cranks but do not start. I’ve been told it the fuel pump and I just got this car a year ago and barely drive it. It’s dangerous that it just cut off while I was driving in the middle of the street and could’ve caused a bad accident
When driving it makes farting noises and when you make a stop the rpm’s go up and down causing it to jump forward then will shut off and not start. If you open gas tank up and allow it to “fart” it will then start up and you can proceed to destination. Also if you shut car off while getting gas it might have you there for 10 minutes trying to start it but if you leave it on while pumping(which is not safe) it is fine. Talked with several Escape owners and all say they have same issues…so not sure why there hasn’t been a safety recall on it.
When I fuel up my 2013 Ford Escape Se it doesn’t want to start And the oil light and battery light flash on the display and to get the car to start I have to turn the key and keep pumping on the gas pedal then it eventually will start, but this happens every time I put gas in the vehicle. Called Ford and there isn’t a recall on this.
The vehicle stalled in the middle of the road on 5/24/2022. My husband was able to restart the vehicle and get it home and it stalled again in the driveway. There were no warning lights but the gas gauge was moving up and down. The car smelled of gasoline and there was smoke coming from the hood/ engine. We had it towed and the repair center told us that the gas line had split and was leaking gas. I called Ford and they confirmed my vehicle was not apart of the gas line recall but I would like to report it to see if I can get it on the recall list to get it repared.

Fuel line started leaking at damper, personal mechanic pulled part and notified me that part was apart of recall. Damper part #: 120620A. 610732. Are all of the numbers on the damper. I git the part replaced at the personal cost of $180.04 on 08/02/2021
I purchased the car on June 09/2021 After taking the car home I noticed a severe lack of power at times when acceleration is crucial in order to navigate safely, such as when approaching an expressway ramp after having been at the light that controls access at the nearby intersection. Traffic moves quickly after lights change, and when I went to blend in from the merge lane, the car was inresponsive, the accelerator hit a dead spot that sent the engine spinning into very high rpms suddenly..5000 rpms The car became an obstacle and other drivers had to swerve to avoid an accident. All in the car were startled and I was upset because of the near collision. The usual sluggish engine response suddenly became dangerous. This car has 2 codes in the computer unit which are identified by these Codes..P0299-00 and P26AC-00 They only show if vehicle is hooked to a scanner and No Check Engine Light has been activated. My mechanic found them. The dealer refuses to admit theres any problem and FORD MOTOR has no recall for this issue. This car is available for inspection upon request.
Fuel leak, with smell of gasoline filling the cabin. Leak was in the engine compartment. After car was towed I saw about 7-8 oz of gasoline pooled on my carport. Due to gas being flammable, I had the car towed in. Dealer says it needs a new fuel line for $505. Had someone lit a match, my house could have been set on fire. Also, since the leak was so strong, what if there was a short in any of the electronics? Again, major risk of fire.
Vehicle will not start after fueling. Takes up to 20 minutes delay to start vehicle after filling tank with fuel. Not a single incident. Has happened every time I have fueled the vehicle over the course of several months. Mechanic stated it is an emissions problem with this model vehicle, but there is no recall issued.
THE PLASTIC FUEL LINE UNDER THE HOOD TO THE FUEL RAIL HAD A PINHOLE IN IT AND WAS SPRAYING FUEL DUE TO A WIRING HARNESS RUBBING THROUGH IT.
I PURCHASED MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE IN DEC 2020. I HAVE ONLY HAD IT A LITTLE OVER A MONTH. 3 WEEKS AGO I NOTICED A HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. AS I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT, SLOWING DOWN TO STOP, WITHOUT WARNING, THE CAR STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY, PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART IT. I HAD NO OTHER ISSUES THAT DAY. NOW IT HAS BECOME A DAILY OCCURRENCE. IT ALL STARTS WHEN I HEAR THAT HUMMING NOISE AND THEN I KNOW THAT THE CAR WILL STALL ON ME WHEN I SLOW DOWN OR STOP. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ONCE AND MY HUSBAND HOOKED IT UP TO READ THE CODE P1450. I HAVE NOT HAD IT REPAIRED YET. IT IS SO SCARY, KNOWING THAT MY CAR WILL STALL ON ME IN TRAFFIC! TONIGHT, ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK, I HEARD THE HUMMING NOISE AGAIN, WHILE DRIVING 65MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AND THEN I HEARD A VERY LOUD POP WHICH SOUNDED LIKE IT CAME FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD AREA. LUCKILY THE CAR STAYED ON AND DID NOT STALL ON ME UNTIL I EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND CAME TO A STOP. IT STALLED ON ME AND WOULDN'T START UP RIGHT AWAY. EVEN THOUGH THE A/C STOPPED WORKING, THE CAR MADE IT HOME WITHOUT ANY OTHER ISSUES TONIGHT.MY HUSBAND TOLD ME TO CHECK THIS WEBSITE FOR RECALLS AND I FOUND ALMOST 1200 COMPLAINTS ON THE VERY SAME THING THAT I AM EXPERIENCING! HOW CAN A HUGE COMPANY LIKE FORD NOT SEE THE ISSUE AND HELP US? I AM SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE IT! I HAVE TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE TO GET TO WORK. DANGEROUS INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WHERE VEHICLE STALLS WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. THIS REQUIRES THE DRIVER TO PULL OVER, STOP, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTART THE ENGINE. FREQUENTLY ONCE IT STALLS, IT IS NOT SAFE TO PULL BACK OUT INTO TRAFFIC RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE IT USUALLY STALLS AGAIN. I REPLACED THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP, BUT THE CAR CONTINUES TO STALLS AT RANDOM WHILE DRIVING. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS.
ANY TIME I GET GAS THE CAR DOES NOT START IMMEDIATELY. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AND DECELERATING IT SHUT OFF ON ME. INITIALLY WAS TOLD IT WAS MY REMOTE START UNTIL I GOT GAS AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START. WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT IT SHUT OFF AND TOOK A MINUTE TO START BACK UP. CAR WILL INTERMITTENTLY STALL, GENERALLY AFTER STARTING. REGARDLESS OF GIVING IT GAS (PEDAL TO THE FLOOR), IT STALLS. I HAVE HAD BOTH THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR AND HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP REPLACED TWICE (EACH), AND YET THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. LOCAL MECHANIC HAD NO IDEA WHAT COULD BE CAUSING IT.

I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN APPROXIMATELY 7 TIMES FOR THE SAME GAS ISSUE AND FORD CANNOT SEEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE ISSUE IS. CURRENTLY, MY CAR IS GETTING 13 MPG. IT HAS BEEN LOSING GAS LIKE NO TOMORROW. I'M TIRED OF PAYING MONEY FOR EVERY NEW ISSUE THEY SEEM TO FIND WITH IT WHEN I BRING IT IN, BUT IT IS NEVER FIXED. THE ORIGINAL FORD SERVICE ADVISOR I HAD PRACTICALLY LAUGHED IN MY FACE WHEN I STATED THAT MY CAR WAS LOSING GAS AS FAST AS IT WAS. THE BEST PART ABOUT IT, THE SAME GUY CALLS ME BACK WHEN I TELL HIM TO JUST CHECK AND SAYS THERE'S AN ISSUE. WELL NOWHERE AND I MEAN NOWHERE IN MY SERVICE RECORDS IS THERE AN INDICATION THAT THEY REPLACED SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE GAS THAT CERTAIN TIME. LAST TIME I WENT IN FOR THE ISSUE THAT SAME MAN HAS BEEN FIRED. THIS HAS OCCURRED FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS AND I AM SO TIRED OF PAYING A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR GAS WHEN I BARELY DRIVE ANYWHERE.

IT HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR WEEKS NOW WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND A FEW DAYS AGO, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN THE CAR WAS ABOUT TO DIE THE LOW OIL LIGHT WOULD COME ON. A DIAGNOSTIC WAS RUN AND IT SHOWED A P0087 ERROR BUT WHEN THE FORD DEALERSHIP TESTED IT, THE ISSUE WAS A DEFECTIVE FUEL RAIL SENSOR.
THE CAR WON'T START IMMEDIATELY AFTER FUELING. WHEN IT DOES EVENTUALLY START IT IDLES VERY ROUGH. THE PROBLEM ALSO CAUSES THE CAR TO PERIODICALLY STALL WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS AND OTHER FORD CARS. JUST SEARCH YOUTUBE OR DO AN INTERNET SEARCH. IT IS APPARENTLY A PROBLEM WITH THE EVAP PURGE VALVE.

THEY COULD NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE IT WHILE AT THEIR SHOP. THEY SAID THEIR BEST GUESS WAS A FAULTY FUEL SENSOR. THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR. LESS THAT A MONTH LATER THE VEHICLE WAS STILL DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF WHILE MOVING, SITTING IN PARK OR SITTING IN DRIVE. NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. AFTER HAVING THIS PROBLEM SO MUCH I STARTED RESEARCHING THIS ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH MANY FORD ESCAPES. SEVERAL YEAR AGO FORD RECALLED THIS VEHICLE AND REPLACED A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS TO FIX IT. I GUESS IT DIDN'T. EVERYTIME WE NEEDED GAS THE CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER FILLING UP, THEN THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR MECHANIC WHO COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR & RECOMMENDED WE TAKE THE CAR TO AUTO NATION FORD WHICH WE DID. WE WERE TOLD THAT WE HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL VAPOR SEPARATOR WHICH COST US $765; TODAY ONE MONTH LATER OUR TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I THINK IT IS UNFAIR TO HAVE TO PAY $765 ONLY TO HAVE TO RETURN TO AUTO NATION A MONTH LATER. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RECALL; A VEHICLE IS SUPPOSE TO START AFTER GETTING FUEL INSTEAD OF NOT STARTING. LUCKILY WE HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT OVER THIS ISSUE BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT MY CAR WILL STALL ANYTIME WHILE DRIVING. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO A MECHANIC BECAUSE THERE WAS A STRONG GAS SMELL IN MY CAR DURING AND AFTER OPERATING. MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME THE FUEL LINE FROM THE RAIL INTO PULSATOR/DAMPER IS LEAKING. HE SAID THE CABLE NEXT TO THE FUEL LINE HAS BEEN RUBBING AGAINST IT AND CAUSED THE LEAK. THERE IS A CURRENT NHTSA RECALL 13V584000 FOR MY EXACT CAR MAKE, MODEL, PRODUCTION DATE AND ENGINE STYLE BUT MY VIN IS NOT LISTED AS AN AFFECTED VEHICLE, YET IT IS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT ISSUE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP WILL NOT ADDRESS THIS AS A RECALL BECAUSE OF THIS. THE MECHANIC STATED WHAT HE OBSERVED IS EXACTLY IN LINE WITH THE RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE SMELL OF GAS BECAME VERY STRONG. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND LOOKING UNDER THE CAR YOU COULD SEE FUEL POURING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I TOOK A VIDEO OF THIS TO SHOW THE DEALER. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AS I WAS ABOUT A MILE AWAY. THE TECH DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL JUMPER HOSE WAS BAD AND NEEDED REPLACED. I ASKED THEM IF MY VEHICLE WAS PART OF THE RECALL THAT DEALT WITH THIS EXACT ISSUE AND PART, THEY SAID NO. THE RECALL WAS FOR ESCAPES BUILT OUT OF THE LOUISVILLE, KY PLANT UP TO JULY 11, 2012, MINE WAS BUILT ON JULY 30, 2012 FROM THE LOUISVILLE, KY PLANT. COINCIDENCE, I DON'T THINK SO. FORDS WORDS FROM THE DEALER IS THEY ARE WASHING THEIR HANDS OF THIS AND THEN CHARGED ME ALMOST $300 TO FIX WHAT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. NOT EVEN A DAY LATER (18 HOURS) AFTER PICKING UP THE CAR MY VEHICLE OVERHEATS AND IS POURING RADIATOR FLUID ON THE GROUND. THE DEALER TOWED IT BACK TO THE SHOP AND IS LOOKING AT IT NOW. I KNOW THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS AS WELL, HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT TO BET MY VEHICLE IS JUST OUTSIDE THIS RECALL LIKE THE OTHER ONE. THIS IS CRAP AND I THINK FORD IS AWARE THAT THE PROBLEMS PERTAINING TO THESE RECALLS EXTENDS PAST THE DATES THEY HAVE LISTED. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS.

FOR MONTHS NOW I'VE BEEN FEELING TIRED AND DROWSY WHILE DRIVING IN THE CAR-AT TIMES FIGHTING TO KEEP MY EYES OPEN. I RECENTLY SAW THE NEWS ABOUT CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK IN FORD EXPLORERS AND THINK MY CAR MAY ALSO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. AFTER I SAW THE STORY I DROVE WITH MY WINDOW OPEN AND DID NOT FEEL THE DROWSINESS THAT I HAVE FELT THE LSAT FEW MONTHS. I WOULD RECOMMEND THE INVESTIGATION EXTEND BEYOND JUST THE FORD EXPLORER BUT THROUGH ALL OF FORD'S OTHER MODELS LIKE THE FORD ESCAPE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS AND LIFE THREATENING ISSUE.
VEHICLE WAS GOING UP HILL AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH (TEMPERATURE GAUGE NORMAL) WHEN, WITHOUT WARNING, AN ALERT STATED THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS LOW. IMMEDIATELY AFTER, A SECOND WARNING CAME ON SAYING THAT THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING AND TO PULL OFF THE ROAD SAFELY (NO LONGER ABLE TO ACCELERATE). THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS LOW, BUT HAD BEEN FILLED LESS THAN 3 MONTHS PRIOR. THERE ARE NO VISIBLE LEAKS OR CRACKS IN THE COOLANT RESERVOIR, TUBES, ETC. AFTER WAITING FOR 30 MINUTES, WE PROCEEDED TO COAST DOWN THE HILL IN NEUTRAL (AFTER FILLING THE COOLANT TANK WITH WATER). WE THEN BOUGHT COOLANT AT A LOCAL STORE AND PROCEEDED TO GO BACK UP THE HILL. THE CAR GAVE US THE SAME WARNINGS (COOLANT LOW AND ENGINE OVERHEATING). WE WERE UNABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THANKFULLY A POLICE OFFICER WAS RIGHT BEHIND US, SO WE DID NOT GET HIT. HE OFFERED TO USE THE BATTERING RAM ON THE FRONT HIS CAR TO PUSH US TO SAFETY. HOWEVER, THE CAR WAS ABLE TO GO THE EXTRA 5 FEET WHEN RESTARTED, PRIOR TO IT OVERHEATING AND LOCKING UP AGAIN. AFTER AN ADDITIONAL 30 MINUTES WE AGAIN WENT DOWN THE HILL IN NEUTRAL. AT THIS POINT WE DECIDED TO GIVE THE CAR A BREAK AND ATE DINNER AT A LOCAL RESTAURANT (APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR). WE THEN PROCEEDED TO DRIVE HOME. ABOUT AN HOUR INTO THE TRIP (WHILE GOING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR AGAIN GAVE US THE 2 ALERTS (LOW COOLANT AND CAR OVERHEATING). WE BARLEY WERE ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY SAFELY. COOLANT LEVEL NORMAL. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. I WILL BE CONTACTING FORD TOMORROW TO DETERMINE IF OUR 2013 FORD ESCAPE WAS INCLUDED IN THE INITIAL RECALL (AND ALREADY HAD THE WORK COMPLETED), AS THERE ARE NO OPEN RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO TAKE THE EMISSION TEST AFTER IT DID NOT PASS THE FIRST ONE. I SPENT OVER SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS O HAVE THE CODES ADDRESSED AND FIXED SUPPOSEDLY. I HAD GOTTEN INTO MY VEHICLE AND AFTER TURNING IT ON I MANAGED TO MAKE IT TO MY NEIGHBORS HOUSE. MY VEHICLE FOR THE SECOND TIME STARTED TO OVER HEAT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE WAS STATING THAT I NEED TO REFILL THE COOLANT. I CHECKED ONLINE AND SEE THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS, BUT MY VIN EVEN THOUGH HAVING THE QUALIFYING MANUFACTURING DATE IS NOT ELIGIBLE. SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE ESCAPE TO PRESENT I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN ANYWHERE NEAR THE GAS MILEAGE THAT WAS LISTED ON THE WINDOW TAG. I DO NOT EVEN GET ON THE ROAD WHAT IT SAID I SHOULD GET IN TOWN. IT STINKS.... I HAVE TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP PERSONS ABOUT IT EVERY TIME I AM IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE OR RECALLS. THEY JUST TELL ME THAT IT ISN'T BROKEN IN. HOW MANY MILES DO I HAVE TO HAVE TO BE BROKEN IN??? I AM AN OLDER LADY SO I DO NOT DRAG, DIG OFF, OR ANY FOOLISH DRIVING....THE GAS MILEAGE JUST STINKS. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT. MAYBE FORD NEEDS TO HAVE TO FOLLOW KIA'S EXAMPLE AND HAVE TO GIVE GAS CARDS TO MAKE UP FOR THE POOR GAS MILEAGE. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SEVERAL TIMES ON LINE, BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND MY HUSBAND WAS ADVISED THAT THE HEAT SHIELD OVER THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER APPEARED TO BE DISINTEGRATING. THE TECHNICIAN SUGGESTED IT WOULD BE A FIRE HAZARD AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED ASAP. WE WENT TO IMMEDIATELY TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY ATTEMPTED TO ASSERT WE HAD HIT SOMETHING. BASED ON POSITION OF SHIELD I'M NOT ENTIRELY SURE THAT'S POSSIBLE. WE HAD NOT HIT ANYTHING WITH THE CAR SO THE ASSERTION WAS JUST OFFENSIVE, THAT PLUS THE FACT THAT THERE IS ZERO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. SO, WE HIT SOMETHING THAT WAS ABLE TO DAMAGE THE HEAT SHIELD IN THE UNDER BODY OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT CAUSING ANY OTHER DAMAGE? RIGHT! THEN THEY SAID COULD BE 'WEATHER' CONDITIONS AS WE LIVE ON A GRAVEL ROAD. THIS APPEARS TO BE A CONSISTENT THEME FROM OTHER POSTINGS, ALTHOUGH IN THEIR CASE THEY WERE TOLD SNOW! MAYBE FORD DOESN'T MAKE VEHICLES TO BE USED IN OTHER THAN PRISTINE DRIVING CONDITIONS. WONDER WHERE I'D HAVE TO TRAVEL TO FIND THOSE? APPARENTLY, FORD ELECTED TO INSTALL A PART ABOVE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER THAT DOESN'T APPEAR AS WELL CONSTRUCTED AS THE PANS I USE TO MAKE BAR-B-QUE ON MY GRILL; AND WHICH INCIDENTALLY DON'T APPEAR TO HOLD UP TO EITHER SNOW OR GRAVEL ROADS IF YOU BELIEVE THE EXCUSES OF THEIR SERVICE ADVISERS. OUR DEALERSHIP CHARGED $167 FOR THE HEAT SHIELD AND ANOTHER $109 TO INSTALL IT FOR A TOTAL BILL OF $290.09 AFTER TAXES. THE PART ITSELF APPEARS DESIGNED FOR FAILURE AND THEN ON TOP OF THAT WE WERE PRICE GOUGED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE ADVISER ACTUALLY GAVE ME THE PART TO SHOW ME AFTERWARDS. IT IS LITERALLY SHOCKING TO ME THAT SOMETHING THIS CHEAPLY MADE COULD BE INSTALLED IN THE UNDER BODY OF ANY VEHICLE. BAR-B-QUE PANS THAT I CAN BUY FOR 4 FOR $10 WOULD HAVE PROVIDED BETTER LONGEVITY. 2013 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE POOR MILEAGE ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED TO WAIT UNTIL THE VEHICLE REACHED 8-10,000 MILES AND IT WOULD IMPROVE. *JB
VEHICLE TOWED TO FORD ON 7/3/14 FOR FUEL LEAK. ALSO TOLD FORD THAT FUEL RANGE CONSUMPTION GAUGE WAS NOT WORKING RIGHT. FORD WAS UNABLE TO VERIFY FUEL LEAK CONCERN BUT DID THE 13S12 OVERHEATING AND 14S03 HANDLE RECALLS. ON 7/19/14 LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON. CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS AN AIR POCKET IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM AND TO ADD DISTILLED WATER AND DRIVE IT TO FORD. THE DEALERSHIP DRAINED THE COOLANT, ADDED COOLANT AND PRESSURIZED TO CHECK THE SYSTEM. EXPLAINED TO FORD THAT OUR DAUGHTER WAS TAKING THE CAR ON A 500 MILE ROAD TRIP THAT AFTERNOON. THEY REASSURED US IT WAS FIXED AND THAT SHE WOULD NOT HAVE AN ISSUE, BUT IF SHE DID, SIMPLY ADD DISTILLED WATER AGAIN TO RESOLVE. LATER ON 7/19/14, AFTER DRIVING 150 MILES OF THE TRIP, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE RAPIDLY JUMPED FROM NORMAL TO HOT AND THE ENGINE OVERHEATED. ROADSIDE ASSIST. TOWED TO THE CLOSEST FORD DEALERSHIP. THIS NEW DEALERSHIP SAID THE VEHICLE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS THAT THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE SOMEONE FROM FORD TO COME LOOK AT IT. THE NEW DEALERSHIP FAXED US THE LIST OF WHAT WAS WRONG WITH OUR VEHICLE: LEAKING WATER PUMP, LEAKING TURBO COOLANT TUBE, TURBO COOLANT BANJO BOLT LOOSE, HOSE CLAMP ON TURBO COOLANT TUBE NOT RELEASED, COOLANT STAND PIPE NOT BOLTED, ENGINE HARNESS TAPED BUT NOT SECURED TO ENGINE COVER, COOLANT STAND PIPE HARNESS NOT PROPERLY SECURED, BATTERY CABLE REROUTING NOT PERFORMED, FOAM PROTECTION NOT APPLIED TO COOLANT LEVEL MODULE, ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTERS NOT REMOVED AT ALL, THERMOSTAT HOUSING BOLTS LOOSE, CV BOOT RIPPED, BOLTS ON OIL DEFLECTOR NOT TIGHT TO SPECS. FORD SAYS THEY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE BUT WE TOLD THEM WE COULD NOT RISK OUR LIVES ANY MORE WITH THIS DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. ON 7/29/14 WE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO FORD, SENT THEM THE LIST, GOT A CASE NUMBER AND REQUESTED THAT FORD BUY BACK THE VEHICLE. ON 8/8/14 FORD DENIED OUR REQUEST. WE ARE TOO SCARED TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE. *TR
VEHICLE SPUTTERED AND SHUT OFF WHILE IN TRAFFIC AT APPROX. 35 MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES, IT IS NOW AT THE DEALER FOR THE 4TH TIME IN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR. FORD HAS SO FAR BEEN UNABLE TO PROVIDE THE DEALER WITH AN ADEQUATE EXPLANATION OR FIX. THE DEALER HAS BEEN MORE THAN COOPERATIVE BUT IS AT THE MERCY OF FORD. A VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND WITHOUT WARNING COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURIES. *TR
*1:THE FIRST TIME EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM, I WAS DRIVING A STRETCH OF LEVEL ROAD, APPROX 40 MPH, AND HEARD A POP SOUND, I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE AND I WAS TOLD IF NO WARNING LIGHT CAME ON .. NOT TO WORRY AND JUST LET THEM KNOW IF THE LIGHT COMES ON. IT WAS OKAY TO DRIVE. I ALREADY HAD VERY LOW GAS MILEAGE, BUT WAS INFORMED THAT I NEEDED TO GIVE IT 5-10K MILES TO BREAK IN"... HOWEVER, I SOON NOTICED A DROP IN MILES AFTER POP, BUT WAS CONTINUED TO BE TOLD TO NOT WORRY ABOUT IT.. "NEEDS 5-10K MILES TO BREAK IN" THEN TOLD "IT'S A BIG ENGINE, IT NEEDS UP TO 20K MILES TO BRAKE IN", ETC...). I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN SEVERAL TIMES TO BE CHECKED AND THEY KEEP SAYING THAT THEY CHECKED EVERYTHING AND CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE MILEAGE CONTINUES TO BE EXTREMELY POOR (CURRENTLY 11.4-15MPG IN CITY AND HWY... ON A REALLY LONG STRAIGHT NON-STOP DRIVE I MIGHT PEAK AT 21MPG- THIS CAR IS SUPPOSE TO GET 22 CITY AND 30 HIGHWAY). LAST YEAR I SPOKE WITH REGIONAL REP AT FORD WHO CONCURRED THAT THE MILEAGE WAS BAD AND SAID THEY WOULD FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG AND FIX IT. NO FOLLOW THROUGH ON THEIR PART. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT RESULTED IN NO CALL BACK. **2: THE OTHER ISSUE IS THE LACK OF PICK UP POWER. THERE IS A DELAY THAT IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME.... AS I HAVE HAD NEAR MISSES AS NOT BEING ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF A MERGING TRUCK... BECAUSE THE CAR HESITATES BRIEFLY WHEN YOU PUSH ON THE GAS... THEN LURCHES FORWARD. I GOT THE LARGER ENGINE (2.0L 14 GTDI TITANIUM ECO BOOST) BECAUSE I WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT I HAD ENOUGH POWER TO MOVE WHEN I NEED TO. THIS HESITATION HAPPENS A LOT. BUT AGAIN, THE DEALER SERVICE DEPT SAY THAT THEY CANNOT REPLICATE IT, NOR FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THE DELAY IS JUST THE WAY ALL THE NEW CARS ARE NOW BECAUSE THE GAS PEDAL GOES THROUGH A RELAY SYSTEM NOW, NOT DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO THE FUEL. *TR
I PURCHASED THE CAR IN NOVEMBER 2012, I HAD THE CAR FOR 2 DAYS BEFORE IT WAS RECALLED AND SAT AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 17 DAYS. I HAVE HAD 2 MORE RECALLS FOR THE SAME ISSUE (FIRE FROM FUEL SYSTEM) AND NOW HAVING A RECENT RECALL THAT STATES I SHOULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR- I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THEY CAN NOT FIX MY CAR FOR 3 WEEKS. *JS

MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE STALLED TWICE WHILE GOING SLOW ON A LOCAL ROAD IN JULY OF THIS YEAR. AFTER THE SECOND STALL (A WEEK APART) I BROUGHT IT IN FOR SERVICE (LEVITTOWN FORD) AND THEY COULD NOT FIND NOR RECREATE THE PROBLEM (THEY HAD IT 4 DAYS). IT STALLED AGAIN TWICE ON SUNDAY OCTOBER 13, 2013, ONCE GOING THROUGH THE EZ PASS LANE AT THE VERRAZANO BRIDGE AND AGAIN ABOUT 45 MINS LATER ON A SECONDARY ROAD IN NJ, AGAIN GOING SLOW (UNDER 15 MPH). WE REPORTED THIS TO LEVITTOWN FORD SERVICE AND ALSO TO CORPORATE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN WE SHOULDN'T RESTART THE CAR AND CALL FOR FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. CORPORATE HAS NOT RETURNED MY CALL. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT WE MAY GET REAR ENDED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF THE CAR STALLS AGAIN AND THE CAR / TRUCK BEHIND US DOESN'T STOP IN TIME (E.G. HARRY CHAPIN ON THE LIE) I DON'T BELIEVE THE BREAK LIGHTS WOULD GO ON SINCE THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF. WAS DRIVING ON MANETTO HILL ROAD IN PLAINVIEW, NY WHEN VEHICLE STALLED. NO POWER TO THE ACCELERATOR. KEPT PRESSING THE GAS, AND THE CAR DIDN'T MOVE. NO WARNING CHIMES, NO APPEARANCE OF ANYTHING WRONG-RADIO WAS PLAYING, AC, ETC. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER (ROLL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD), PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT. THE COMPUTER THEN SHOWED "ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW" DROVE TO A LOCAL GAS STATION, THOUGH THE CAR WAS BUCKING AND DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. CAR WAS THEN TOWED TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE STATION. HAVE LEARNED THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE TSB'S ISSUED FOR MY CAR, BUT NO RECALL. PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE SO THE CAR REMAINS AT DEALERSHIP SERVICE STATION. I WAS LUCKY I WAS NOT IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC OR ON/GETTING ON OR OFF A HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR DIED. I SHUDDER TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED THEN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ENGINE STALLS. NO LIGHTS, NO WARNING, IF GAS IS NOT ACCELERATED I HAVE LOST ENGINE 4 TIMES. 3 TIMES IT WOULDN'T START WHILE PARKED, AND 4 ADDITIONAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE STALLED COMPLETELY, NO WARNING ON THE EXPRESSWAY IN CHICAGO. I DROVE STRAIGHT TO DEALER AND LEFT IT THERE, HAD TO PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL IF I LET OFF THE GAS IN ORDER TO REV ENGINE TO KEEP FROM STALLING A 5TH TIME. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER AND OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS. THE DEALER (FAIR OAKS FORD, NAPERVILLE, IL) IS TELLING ME THERE ARE NO 'CODES' SHOWING ANYTHING IS WRONG. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND HAS 7,000 MILES. I HAVE BROUGHT VEHICLE IN TWICE FOR THE SAME ISSUES, THUS FAR TO NO AVAIL. I CANNOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION. I PULLED INTO THE SERVICE STATION FOR FUEL. THE ATTENDANT PLACED THE GAS PUMP NOZZLE INTO MY VEHICLES NEW STYLE CAPLESS GAS TANK AND BEGAN TO FILL THE TANK FULL OF FUEL. ONCE THE TANK REACHED THE LIMIT THE NOZZLE SHUT OFF, WHEN THE ATTENDANT WENT TO REMOVE THE NOZZLE IT WOULD NOT RELEASE FROM THE CAR. FOR OVER 2 HOURS MY CAR WAS ATTACHED TO THE NOZZLE, UNTIL THE GAS STATION OWNER CAME AND HAD TO USE A SCREWDRIVER TO PRY IT OUT. GOOD THING BY LAW IN NJ A ATTENDANT MUST BE THEIR WHEN THE STATION IS OPEN OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN STUCK, THEIR WAS NO PHONE RECEPTION. *TR

2013 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE THROTTLE ISSUES AND CONSUMER SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE THROTTLE RESPONSE ON THE VEHICLE WAS HORRIBLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL HESITATION. THE DEALER CLAIMED IT HAD TO WITH THE NEW 1.6 NO BOOST ENGINE AND THE DELAYED RESPONSE OF THE TURBO. HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO FIX FOR IT. ALSO, THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE CLOCK WOULD RESET FOR NOT REASON AND THE PRESET RADIO STATIONS WOULD RANDOMLY GO BLANK. THE DEALER RE-LOADED THE SOFTWARE FOR THE DISPLAY TO FIX THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, A WEEK LATER THE RADIO WENT COMPLETELY DEAD FOR ONE DAY, BUT CAME BACK ON THE NEXT DAY. ALSO, THE GAS MILEAGE WAS NO WHERE NEAR WHERE FORD INDICATED IT SHOULD BE ( 23 MPG CITY, 26 MPG COMBO, 33 MPG HIGHWAY).
