AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROD AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED EARLIER BY THE DEALER OURISMAN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF BOWIE 2406 CRAIN HWY, BOWIE, MD 20716 (855) 822-3228. THE CONTACT SUSPECTED THE DEALER DID SUBPAR WORK THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT THE CONTACT DID NOT GET HER VEHICLE BACK UNTIL THE END OF NOVEMBER 2019, THE VEHICLE ISSUE OF STOPPING OCCURRED IN 12/2019. THE MANUFACTURER GAVE THE CONTACT A CASE NUMBER BUT HAD NOT CALLED BACK WITH AN UPDATE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE FTC AND HER STATE'S ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,226.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE THERE WAS A POPPING NOISE AND BLACK SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE WAS QUICKLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FLAMES WERE EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT BUT THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED BUT A FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE REMAINS OF THE VEHICLE WERE TOWED TO A LOT FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO INSPECT. VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY WON'T START AT ANY GIVEN TIME WHEN TURNING THE IGNITION ON IT WILL JUST CLICK. IT MAY START UP AFTER 10 MIN 2HRS MAYBE NOT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH THIS SINCE WE BROUGHT THIS 2009 DODGE JOURNEY NEW. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER TROY MOTOR MALL THEY COULD NOT PINPOINT THE PROBLEM AND THEY CHARGED US. SAME PROBLEM LATER NOTHING CHANGED. DID NOT START RECENTLY FIRST WEEK IN OCTOBER AAA TOW TRUCK CAME AND THE DRIVER HEARD THE CLICKING SOUND AND INDICATED THAT IT WAS THE STARTER. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR THAT NEXT WEEK AND HAD THE STARTER REPLACED AND IN A FEW DAYS IT WAS NOT STARTING AGAIN. I WENT TO THE DODGE DEALER TODAY AND I EXPLAINED TO THEM WHAT I HAD BEEN GOING THROUGH ALL OF THIS TIME AND HE STILL INDICATED THAT IT WOULD BE A $100.00 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I LOOKED UP THIS ISSUE ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AND A PERSON WITH THE SAME ISSUE INDICATED THAT THEIR MECHANIC FOUND IT TO BE A FAULTY RANGE SENSOR ATTACHED TO THE TRANSMISSION COMPLAINT #143 UNDER 2009 DODGE JOURNEY WON'T TURN OVER, ENGINE WON'T START. THERE WERE QUITE A FEW OTHER COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THIS SAME ISSUE THAT'S WHY IT'S HARD FOR ME TO UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NO RECALL CONCERNING THIS MATTER. WHEN EVER I GET IT FIXED I'D LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED BY CHRYSLER DODGE.

THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND STREET BEFORE THE VEHICLE STARTED TO STEAM FROM COOLANT LOSS ONTO THE MANIFOLD. THE PLASTIC PIECE THAT MELTED WAS ENOUGH TO CAUSE A SMALL FIRE ON THE MANIFOLD.

THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS OF ANY PROBLEMS. IT WAS ONE OF THE QUIETEST VEHICLES I HAVE EVER OWNED, AND THIS HAPPENED OUT OF NO WHERE. THE SHOP HAS INFORMED US THAT THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY SEIZED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC HAS NOT SEEN SUCH SILVERY OIL IN A LONG TIME. THIS COMES ACROSS LIKE A MANUFACTURE ERROR SUCH AS YOUR RECALL FOR THE ROD BEARING IN YOUR 2012. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS. I JUST MADE MY THIRD PAYMENT ON THIS VEHICLE, AND NOW I AM WITHOUT A VEHICLE, AFTER OWNING IT FOR 87 DAYS AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT. AN OIL CHANGE WAS DONE APPROXIMATELY 1000 MILES PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT AND THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING SIGNS. WE NEED OUR VEHICLE, AND IT IS GOING TO COST $4000 TO FIX, AND WE STILL OWE OVER $10,000 BECAUSE WE PURCHASED IT ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2014 AND THIS HAPPENED ON DECEMBER 22, 2014. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I CONTACTED DODGE WHOM STATED THERE WAS NO RECALL IN RE: IGNITION PROBLEMS, INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH A RECALL WAS POSTED WITHIN WEEKS, SINCE THAT RECALL I HAVE BEEN CONTACTED VIA MAIL STATING PARTS HAVE BEEN ORDERED WITH NO KNOWN DELIVERY DATE FOR REPAIRS. THE LAST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING TOO WORK EXITING OFF THE EXPRESSWAY DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE RAMP WITH VEHICLES BEHIND ME AND MY CAR JUST SHUT OFF AGAIN. WHEN I CONTACT DODGE I AM TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO I HAVE TO WAIT FOR PARTS AND RISK MY LIFE IN THE PROCESS DUE TO THEY WILL NOT ISSUE A RENTAL CAR FOR THIS. THE ONLY WAY THE FREAKING CAR WILL START IS BY TRY TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. IF THAT DOESN'T WORK THEN I MOVE THE BATTERY AROUND UNTIL I HEAR A CLICK FOR A CONNECTION. IF THESE DON'T WORK I DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE ON THE BATTERY. EVENTUALLY THE CAR WILL START AFTER SPENDING AN HOUR OR SO TRYING TO GET IT STARTED. IM DISABLED AND TRULY HAVE AN EXTREMELY HARD TIME WITH THIS CAR. THIS ENTIRE CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED!!! THE OTHER ISSUE IS THAT THE ALARM DOESN'T WORK. WHEN IT DID HAPPEN IF YOU WAITED FOR 10 MIN OR SO IT WOULD START RIGHT UP. THEN ONE MORNING I DROVE 7 MILES AND HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF, CAME BACK AND IT WOULD NOT START. TRIED FOR 10 TO 15 MIN AND EVEN TRIED TO JUMP START IT WITH NO LUCK. I PROCEEDED TO GET A RIDE TO WORK, THEN CAME BACK THAT NIGHT AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO A PEP BOYS ( A NATIONAL CHAIN) (DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED) AND LEFT IT THERE. THEY RAN ELECTRICAL, STARTER AND IGNITION TEST ON IT THE NEXT DAY AND FOUND NO PROBLEM. THEY STARTED OVER 40 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF THE DAY AND IT STARTED EVERY TIME. NOW IS WORKING, BUT FOR HOW LONG. AFTER PAYING $827 TO REPLACE 4 TIRES, WHEN I ONLY NEEDED 1 NEW TIRE AND 2 MISSING VALVE SENSORS, I DROVE OFF THE LOT AND THE VEHICLE AGAIN LOST POWER, DEALER HAS HAD VEHICLE IN AT LEAST 4 TIMES TO FIX PROBLEM IN THE PAST, THEY STILL HAVE NOT RESOLVED OR LOCATED THE PROBLEM. I RESTARTED VEHICLE AND IT DIED AGAIN, RESTARTED A 3RD TIME AND I LOST ALL DASH LIGHTING. THIS WAS WITHIN AN 8TH OF MILE OF THE DEALER LOCATION. I TURNED THE CAR AROUND AND RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER, WHICH IS WHERE IT REMAINS UNTIL THEY CAN FIX IT!! NYS ATTORNEY GENERAL STATES THIS DOES NOT QUALIFY AS A "LEMON" BECAUSE THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR, I DISAGREE! I AM FILING A 2ND LEMON LAW CASE WITH THEM AT THIS TIME. BUYER BEWARE!! *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING AT 65MPH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR TRACTION ASSIST LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT WOULD DRIFT THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SHE WOULD WAIT APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES AND IT WOULD RESTART, AND OTHER TIMES THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BUT THERE WOULD BE NO CODES SHOWING AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES AND SHE WAS TOLD WHENEVER THE FAILURE HAPPENS TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THEM TO CHECK THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,500.

I PURCHASED A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY, USED BUT ONLY 40000 MILES. IN 8 WEEKS OF OWNING IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 5 TIMES, 3 TIMES FOR THE SAME REASON A TICKING IN THE ENGINE. THE MOST RECENT WAS CORROSION OF THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. REALLY CORROSION IN A 2009 VEHICLE. THERE IS ALSO A GRINDING SOUND WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL YET NOONE CAN SEEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM OF THAT. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE STRUTS AND MOUNTS (THANK GOD UNDER WARRANTY) THAT WAS A WEEK AFTER I HAD THE CAR. I HAVE A 15 MONTH OLD AND IT SCARES ME THAT SOMETHING SERIOUS COULD HAPPEN WHEN SHE IS RIDING WITH ME. I MAKE JUST ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY MY BILLS AND I AM SCARED THAT SOMETHING, NOW THAT MY CAR IS NOT UNDER A WARRANTY, WILL HAPPEN AND I WILL BE WITHOUT A CAR. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SERVICE AND QUALITY I HAVE GOTTEN. MY FAMILY HAS PRETTY MUCH ALWAYS OWNED A DODGE VEHICLE AND WE HAVE NEVER HAD THIS MANY ISSUES.
