ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Buick Verano and 2016 Chevrolet Malibu as the electronic park lock lever may allow the ignition key to be removed without the transmission being in PARK. Also, certain 2013 Buick Encore, 2011 Buick Regal, 2013-2014 Buick Verano, 2011-2016 Chevrolet Cruze, 2010-2013 Chevrolet Equinox 2013-2015 Chevrolet Malibu, and 2011-2013 GMC Terrain vehicles may have been serviced with similar defective replacement electronic park lock levers. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and if necessary replace the key cylinder lock housing, free of charge. The recall began on October 14, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, Buick 1-800-521-7300, and GMC 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 50490 and 50491.

Trouble code p2138. Replaced accelerator pedal with OEM. Trouble code still persists. Car goes into limp mode while driving posing a safety concern. There is a TSB 07-06-04-019F. Other codes include p0301 and p0697. After limp mode I have to pull over and turn car completely off and crank it up again to get out of it.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, he noticed smoke coming from underneath the hood. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled into a business parking lot. The contact stated that he opened the hood and noticed the engine compartment had caught fire. Additionally, the contact stated that the battery was burned and was bubbly. The contact was able to extinguish the fire with water bottles. A fire department report and a police report were not filed. The contact sustained a minor burn on the right hand and did not receive medical assistance. The vehicle was towed to the residence of the contact's parents. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 185,000.
Stalling and stopping completely while coming to a stop. New muffler put in, still stalling! - I drive daily with my two children under five and the risk of my truck stopping completely while driving is my biggest safety concern for both my children and I!
The windshield wipers and yes, available at anytime for inspection. I was traveling Hwy 80 and the wipers stopped working completely in a downpour of rain at 70 mph. I could not see and could not even follow the rear taillights in front of me to stay in my lane. I put my right blinker on and slowly moved to the slow lane in order to take the next exit off the highway. Had to travel over the highway on the overpass and needed to turn right. Couldn’t see detail so ended up running over yellow barriers then made it to the right turn and was barely able to make out a driveway which was a Starbucks. Stopped to confirm wipers would not work and to move wipers by hand to clear windshield. Every 4 or 5 blocks had to stop and get out to physically move wipers by hand to clear rain water from windshield in order to drive further. It was so dangerous, I could of easily caused accidents for others and myself and also could have been fatal! Next time you’re on the highway, close your eyes and keep driving-it was the same and scared me to the point that I was shaking!!! Thank God I didn’t have my grandkids with me!!
The key can be removed although drivetrain is not in Park? Also, a week ago while picking up my grandkids from school, my car would not start. It was parked. Everything was dead and the key could not be removed from the ignition which was quite odd even if it was a dead battery, the key should come out of the ignition? It was in Park. The key could be turned but not taken out of ignition?
After purchasing the vehicle . The vehicle starting malfunctioning. From going into 0rmp to shutting back on after turn the vehicle off. Upon utilizing cruis control the vehicle automatically speeds without pressing the set miles .
1) SEATBELT LIGHT COMES ON DESPITE HAVING SEATBELTS SECURED. IT HAPPENS WHEN YOU START THE CAR AND STAYS ON THROUGHOUT ALL ASPECTS OF DRIVING UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. 2) SERVICE STABILITRAC LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY FLICKERS ON AND OFF WHILE THE RADIO FLICKERS OFF AND ON, AS THOUGH THE VEHICLE WERE POSSESSED. 3) THE PREVIOUS ENGINE CONSUMED EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL. IT RESULTED IN THE PREVIOUS ENGINE BEING REPLACED A FEW MONTHS AGO. NEW ENGINE IS BURNING OIL JUST AS FAST AS THE OLD ONE. WITHING ONE MONTH THE DIPSTICK WAS REGISTERING AS BELOW THE BOTTOM LINE WITH 2 MONTHS AND APPROXIMATELY 3K MILES LEFT BEFORE NEXT SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE, PER JIFFY LUBE'S STICKER.
MY EQUINOX LTZ 2011 KEEP SHUTTING OFF WITHOUT A WARNING WHEN I'M BACKING UP ON A RED LIGHT OR A STOP NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING BECAUSE IT DOESN'T SHOW BUT IT KEEP DOING IT.
AT RED LIGHT,MY CAR CUT OUT. WOULDN'T TURN OVER. HAD IT TOWED AND MY MECHANIC SAID IT WAS TIMING CHAINS, WHICH AFFECTED ENGINE. CHECKED 8 OF 16 VALVES THAT WERE BENT, ALONG W/8 ROCKER ARMS CRACKED AND TORN OFF. $4000 TO FIX THIS ISSUE, MONEY I DO NOT HAVE. MECHANIC SAID GM KNOWS ABOUT THESE ISSUES AND REFUSES TO DO A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR TEN PLUS YEARS.
A FEW DAYS AGO AFTER WORK I STOPPED FOR GAS AND TOOK A DIFFERENT ROUTE HOME. I LIVE IN A CITY WITH TRAFFIC SO I IDLE A LOT. WHILE STOPPED, MY 'SERVICE STABILITRAK' AND 'ENGINE POWER REDUCED' CAME ON. THERE WAS NO WHERE I COULD GO BUT UP THE EXPRESSWAY. ONCE I SPED UP, THE CAR PROCEEDED TO TURN OFF. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER ON TOP OF THE EXPRESSWAY. AFTER THAT, THE CAR WOULDN'T TURN ON ANYMORE. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES, EVERYTHING STARTED FLICKERING AND THEN IT HAD NO ELECTRICITY RUNNING AT ALL. NOT EVEN MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS. THIS WAS REALLY SCARY BECAUSE PPL ARE DRIVING REALLY FAST NEXT TO ME AND AND IT WAS ALREADY NIGHT TIME. I FINALLY GOT HELP AND HAD IT TOWED THE NEXT MORNING. THE KEY WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION BUT STILL NO SIGN OF LIFE UNTIL AFTER IT WAS TOWED. I CAN'T AFFORD TO TAKE IT IN JUST YET BUT I AM EXTREMELY SCARED TO DRIVE IT AS I AM A SINGLE PARENT WITH NO FAMILY IN THIS NEW CITY.
THE CENTER INFOTAINMENT THAT CONTAINS THE RADIO/CD/NAVIGATION, PHONE CONTROL, AIR CONDITIONER, TIME IS REALLY MESSED UP. IT NO LONGER HOLDS TIME. THE RADIO WORKS SOMETIMES AND OTHER TIMES NOT. THE SAME FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER. SOMETIMES THE NAVIGATION BELIEVES I AM IN A STATE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COUNTRY. I HAVE TAKEN TO CHEVROLET ASKING FOR THEM TO FIX IT. THEY SAID IT CANNOT BE FIXED, ONLY REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THE REPLACEMENT ALONE (THE PART ONLY FOR MY MODEL CAR) IS $10,000. MY CAR IS NOT EVEN WORTH $10,000 ANYMORE. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU PUT SUCH A PRICEY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT IN A CAR THAT CANNOT BE FIXED? YOU HAVE PUT ME IN A POSITION OF BEING STUCK WITH A CAR I ABSOLUTELY HATE BECAUSE THE MESSED UP ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM AND ONE THAT I CANNOT POSSIBLY TRADE IN. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED OR YOU NEED TO BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP CAR BACK. THIS IS NOT FAIR TO A CONSUMER WHO WORKS HARD FOR THEIR MONEY. THE 10,000 PART DOES NOT EVEN INCLUDE THE LABOR COSTS I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT PUT IN. I HAVE BEEN TOTALLY SCREWED IN THIS DEAL.
STOPPED AT THE GAS STATION AND THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. SEVERAL TIMES THE CAR DIED WHILE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. WHEN I TRY TO START THE CAR THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS GO BACK AND FORTH 3 TIMES AND ALL POWER IS THERE BUT ENGINE IS TOTALLY DEAD. SOMETIMES AFTER SEVERAL TRIES AND A FEW HOURS LATER THE CAR WILL START. I HAVE HAD 4 MECHANICS, 3 WERE DEALERS, AND NOBODY COULD TELL ME WHAT WAS GOING ON.....AND YET I WAS CHARGED 3 OUT OF 4 TIMES. MY HUSBAND SPOKE TO 2 STREET MECHANICS AND BOTH WITHOUT HESITATION SAID IT IS THE PCM COMPUTER. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH AND CONTINUED PROBLEMS I AM NOW ORDERING A NEW PCM AND INSTALLING IT MYSELF. THERE IS ALSO A TICKING SOUND WHICH SEEMS TO BAFFLE THE MECHANICS. AND THE CAR CONSUMES TONS OF OIL. UNFORTUNATELY I AM SEEING THAT THERE ARE SO MANY CHEVY EQUINOX OWNERS OUT THERE HAVING THESE SAME ISSUES AND CHEVROLET IS NOT HELPING. SHAME ON YOU CHEVROLET!
CAR WILL THROW CODES P0700/U0073/U1000 - LOOSES ENGINE POWER, CHECK STABILITRAK LIGHTS UP, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. CAR WILL BUCK, ODOMETER/RPM GAUGE/TEMP GAUGE WILL BECOME ERRATIC. TOOK TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP, UNABLE TO REPLICATE PROBLEM. UNSAFE TO DRIVE. DOESN'T HAPPEN DAILY - SOMETIMES CAR WILL NOT START/UNABLE TO DRIVE.
WHEN THE CAN STARTS IT SOUNDS LIKE A DIESEL.SOME THIMES THE ENISON WILL TURN OVER AND OVER AND I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF THE TRY TO START IT THAN IT WILL START.THE CAR WILL DIE IN THE MIDEL OF THE HIGHWAY. SOME THIME I HAVE TO PUMP THE GAS TO GET IT GOING LIKE IT JUST RAN OUT OF FULE.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION WITH LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON THIS OIL CHANGE I HEARD TICKING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD SO I CHECKED THE OIL TO FIND THAT THERE WAS NONE ON THE DIP STICK, I ADDED 3.5 QUARTS. WHATS SO BOTHER SOME FOR ME IS THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THESE SUV'S FOR THAT VARY PROBLEM BUT IT EXPIRES AT 120000 MILES OR 7.5 YEARS WHICH EVER COMES FIRST ALL OTHER RECALLS ARE 120000 MILES OR 10 YEARS EXCEPT THIS ONE, WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I WAS ON A LONG TRIP WITH THE FAMILY RAN COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL , CAR DIES ON EXPRESSWAY WITHOUT ANY WARNING THEN WHAT.I DID TAKE IT TO THE DEALER & SERVICE WAS THE ONE THAT TOLD ME ABOUT THE 7.5 YEARS. THIS CAR HAD A COMPREHENSIVE CARFAX REPORT WITH DEALER MAINTENANCE BEING DONE SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. NO MENTION OF THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION . THAT WAS THE REASON THAT I PURCHASED IT

ANYWAYS IT WASN'T LONG AFTER BUYING IT THAT IT STARTED MAKING NOISES THAT SOUNDED LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS GOING TO RADDLE APART ANY MIN. FROM DAY ONE IT GOES THROUGH OIL LIKE CRAZY! IT SEEMS LIKE I PUT MORE OIL IN THEN FUEL. THEN SHE WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK ONE DAY AND THE TRANNY STOPPED WORKING. PUSHING ON THE GAS ONLY MADE RPS GO UP, LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. SO WE TOWED IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP WITH A GREAT REPUTATION. IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG FOR THEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND TELL US THE BAD NEWS. WHOLE TRANNY NEEDED TO BE DONE AND THE BILL WASN'T GOING TO BE CHEAP. IT ENDED UP COSTING US AROUND 3700 DOLLARS AFTER IT WAS ALL SAID AND DONE. FEW WEEK WENT BY AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. SO WE BROUGHT IT BACK AND MORE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THANK THE LIARS THE SHOP GUARANTEES THEIR WORK BECAUSE THEY TOOK IT FOR ANOTHER WEEK. WE GOT IT BACK A RIGHT AWAY IT WAS SLIPPING GOING INTO 3RD EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE. ONCE AGAIN WE HAD ISSUES WITH IF AND THIS TIME THE GUY SAID HE GOING TO ORDER SOME AFTERMARKET PARTS INSTEAD OF USING THE CHEAP FACTORY CRAP! THE TRANNY HAS WORKED SINCE THEN BUT I KNOW THAT IT'S NOT WORKING PERFECT EITHER. SINCE THEN WE HAVE HAD TO DUMP ANOTHER FEW THOUSAND REPLACING GASKETS, THE TIMING CHAIN, AND EXHAUST MANIFOLD. NOW A NEW PROBLEM JUST CAME UP AND THE CENTER DASH WENT BLANK AND NOTHING WORKS ON IT. THE DISPLAY IS BLANK, NO RADIO, CAN'T ADJUST AIR FLOW AND ALL INTERIOR SOUND STOP MAKING NOISES. LIKE THE TICKING OF THE BLINKER OR DINGING ARE JUST NOT WORKING! WE COULD HAVE THE CAR PAID OFF WITH THE AMOUNT OF MONEY WE SUNK IN HER CAR!! I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS VEHICUL AND FEEL HELPLESS. WE STILL OWN ON THE CAR AND I DONT THINK IT WILL EVER BE PAID OFF BEFORE IT DIES FOR GOOD!
THE VEHICLE HAS SUFFERED SEVERAL ENGINE FAILURE SINCE I PURCHASED IT. SEVERAL SENSORS AND MODULE HAVE GONE OUT, COSTS OF OVER $1500.00 TO DATE. FAULTY ELECTRICAL PANEL FAILED TO INDICATE THE VEHICLE WAS LOW ON OIL, AND OVERHEATING. THE OIL WAS CHANGED AND WITHIN A MONTH, THE OIL HAD DEPLETED FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. NONE OF THE INDICATOR LIGHTS SIGNALED AND THE ENGINE STOPPED WHILE DRIVING, THE MECHANIC SAID THE ENGINE FROZE UP AND IT IS A TOTAL LOSS. THE MECHANIC SAID THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD TWO QUARTS OF OIL BUT WAS NOT SIGNALING ANY OIL PROBLEMS AND IT SHOULD HAVE. THE SENSORS AND ELECTRIC PANEL WERE MALFUNCTIONING. THE DEALER NEVER DISCLOSED ANY RECALLS TO ME WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED. THE MECHANIC IS GETTING THE HISTORY TOGETHER OF WORK PERFORMED. I WILL UPLOAD AS I GET THEM.
WHEN EXITING THE CAR ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, I WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THE MOST RECENT TIME THAT MADE ME REALIZE THE SAFETY HAZARD AT HAND WAS MONDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2017. I PARKED AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF WHILE PUTTING MY COAT ON AND MY DAUGHTER BEGAN EXITING THE PASSENGER SIDE. AS I WENT TO TAKE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD. I PUSHED THE EMERGENCY BRAKES AND IT STOPPED. BECAUSE SHE WAS HOLDING ONTO THE DOOR, IT STARTLED MY DAUGHTER AND SHE WAS SHAKEN THINKING WE WERE GOING TO HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT PARKED OF US. I TURNED THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF, MOVED THE CAR FROM PARK TO NEUTRAL FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY.
I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE 2016 AND HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH IT SINCE THE 7TH DAY OF OWNING IT. ON DAY 7, I HAD THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED (AFTER THEY TRIED TO TELL ME I DIDN'T TIGHTEN THE GAS CAP). THEN AFTER ONLY OWNING THE VEHICLE FOR 4 MONTHS, I HAD TO HAVE A WHOLE NEW ENGINE BUILT (SO THEY SAY IT WAS) THIS WAS AFTER MY VEHICLE TURNED COMPLETELY OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHILE DRIVING WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. UP UNTIL THAT POINT EVERYTHING HAD BEEN FINE. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, WARNING OR ANYTHING. THE DEALERSHIP HAD MY VEHICLE FOR ALMOST 2 MONTHS BEFORE I FINALLY GOT IT BACK. THE DAY I GOT IT BACK, MY VEHICLE STARTED OVERHEATING AND MAKING A HORRIBLE NOISE. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS MY RADIATOR AND THAT THEY REPLACED IT. EVERYTHING WAS OK AFTER THAT FOR A GOOD 3 WEEKS AND THEN AFTER THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON AND MY VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY TURN OFF. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION WHERE THEY HAVE FIXED THE SENSOR A COUPLE OF TIMES, BUT THEY SAID IT WAS MY ENGINE AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP NEVER FIXED IT PROPERLY. I CAN BELIEVE THAT TOO BECAUSE NONE OF MY SERVICE INFO IS ON THE CHEVY SITE AND THE SAME CODES SHOW UP THAT DID ORIGINALLY, THIS VEHICHLE IS A SAFETY HAZORD AND A MONEY PIT! WHEN WILL CHEVY BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ON THE EQUINOX?
JUNE 9, 2017 AT 10:00 PM I HIT A DEER ON SOUTH DAKOTA HWY 11 IN LINCOLN COUNTY. THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 65 MPH AND I WAS GOING 68 MPH WHEN I HIT THE DEER HEAD ON. I DROVE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED. AFTER A FEW MINUTES MY WIFE AND I SMELLED BURNING ELECTRICAL WIRE. WE GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND STARTED TO WALK AWAY AND WITHIN 10 MINUTES THE WHOLE THING WENT UP IN FLAMES. THE CAR WAS TOTALED AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF. IF WE WOULD HAVE WENT IN THE DITCH AND BEEN UNCONSCIOUS WE WOULD HAVE BURNT UP WITH THE VEHICLE. THERE IS NO REASON THAT VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE STARTED ON FIRE. GMC WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,850.
NO AIR FLOW OUT OF DEFROSTER AND TOP VENTS ON DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AFTER 40,000 MILES ON CAR. UNABLE TO SEE CLEARLY OUT OF WINDSHIELD ON RAINY DAYS AND HEAVY FOG DAYS.

I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A RURAL ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND IT ABRUPTLY SHUT OFF. I HAD NO ELECTRICAL POWER AT THAT POINT AND SO I WASN'T ABLE TO USE THE HAZARD LIGHTS OR TURN SIGNALS. I ALSO WAS NOT ABLE TO STEER THE CAR OR BRAKE. THE BRAKE PEDAL COULD NOT BE DEPRESSED AT ALL. ONCE I COASTED TO A COMPLETE STOP AND SAT FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS, ELECTRICAL POWER RETURNED (THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATED). I WAS THEN ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND DRIVE AWAY. *TR
I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY BLOWER MOTOR EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW - EVERY TIME I TAKE IT IN IT INTO A CERTIFIED CHEVY DEALERSHIP THE ISSUES IS NOT HAPPENING BY THE TIME I GET THERE THEY JUST TELL ME "WELL THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO IF THE ISSUE IS NOT HAPPENING" IT IS THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER AND NOT HAVING AIR FOR THE FIRST FEW MINUTES IS HORRIBLE, BY THE TIME I GET CLOSE TO THE DEALERSHIP IT STARTS WORKING AGAIN SO NOT ONLY AM I WASTING GAS TRYING TO GET TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT I'M HOT OR COLD WHILE TRYING TO DO IT... I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO FRUSTRATED WITH A VEHICLE AS I AM WITH THIS ONE... I LITERALLY HAVE TO HIT A DEEP POTHOLE FOR IT KICK IN WHICH MAKES ME THINK IT IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE BUT EVERY TIME I TRY TO GET THEM TO DO IT THEY JUST TELL BE WELL THERE WILL BE A FEE FOR DIAGNOSING IT EVEN THOUGH I HAVE BEEN TELLING THEN SINCE 2012 THAT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING SPORADICALLY. EVEN TRIED TO CONTACT GM ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID WELL THERE ISN'T MUCH WE CAN DO WITHOUT THE ISSUE HAPPENING WHEN YOU GET THERE... THAT IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AT MINIMUM THE BLOWER MOTOR SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED IF THEY DID NOT FIND ANY ISSUES IN THE WIRING BUT THEY REFUSE TO NARROW DOWN THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE NORMALLY HAPPENS WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR BUT I HAVE NOTICED IT SOMETIMES STRUGGLES WHILE DRIVING AS WELL... SO THE ISSUE IS JUST GETTING WORSE. ON TOP OF THAT - EVERY TIME I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY NEVER NOTED THAT I HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT THE ISSUE SINCE BACK IN 2012 AND FINALLY I MADE THEM ENTER IT INTO THE SYSTEM PRIOR TO MY MANUFACTURER WARRANTY EXPIRING SO I HAVE PAPER PROOF OF THE ISSUE HAPPENING BEFORE IT EXPIRED WHEN IT WOULD BE FULLY COVERED.
BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN APRIL 2014. IN APRIL 2015 HAD TO HAVE THE TIMING CHAIN REPLACED. IN JULY 2015 HAD TO HAVE THE RINGS, PISTONS, AND CYLINDER HEAD REPLACED. NOW IN FEBRUARY 2016 I HAVE HAD THE TO REPLACE THE BATTERY, AND THE STARTER AND IT STILL WON'T START.
HAD MY CAR FIXED FOR THE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE AND A WEEK LATER I LOST POWER AND THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. DEALERSHIP DENIED ANY THING WRONG WITH THE CAR.... AFTER HAVING IT TOWED BACK TO THEM, THEY FOUND THE THROTTLE BODY CONNECTORS WERE NO GOOD AND NEED A NEW WIRING KIT TO FIX. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE THIS COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT, ALMOST HAPPENED TO ME! PLEASE RECALL THE 2011 EQUINOX AS A WHOLE, YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T BUILD THIS CAR CORRECTLY.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.

SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THIS NEW EQUINOX, THE DASH LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF AND THEN COME BACK ON AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME AND VARIABLE MILES OF TRAVEL. I INFORMED THE GARAGE WHERE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND THEY SAID THE LITTLE KNOB ON THE DASH NEEDED TO ADJUSTED. THIS DID NOT WORK. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE TO THREE DIFFERENT GARAGES AND TOLD THEM OF THIS PROBLEM AND TO ENTER IT INTO THE HISTORY OF THIS VEHICLE. NONE OF THEM HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM AND IT IS A SAFETY FACTOR WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. THE VEHICLE NOW IS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS.
WHEN I WAS OUT RUNNING ERRANDS ON 5/2/15 WITH MY (XXX) YEAR OLD, AS I WAS ARRIVING CLOSER TO MY DESTINATION MY CAR STARTED SHAKING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME ONE AND I STARTED TO ACCELERATE THE CAR AND THE PEDAL WAS ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR HESITATED FOR A MIN OR SO THEN IT STARTED TO REV UP AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF. THEN WHEN I GOT TO WHERE I WAS GOING I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL THE STABILITRAK SHOULD GO OFF AND IT USUALLY ACTIVATES DUE TO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT WHEN YOU ARE IN TRAFFIC AT A STOP AND TRYING TO PULL OFF THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. AFTER BEING IN THE STORE FOR AT LEAST 30MINS OR MORE WHEN I COME BACK OUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON BUT THE STABILITRAK LIGHT IS OFF. I AM NO MORE THAN 20 MINS AWAY FROM MY HOME BUT ON THE WAY BACK HOME IT TOOK AT LEAST 45 MINS BECAUSE THREE TIMES WHILE IN TRAFFIC WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN THE CARD STARTED HAVING THE SOLDERED ACCELERATION PROBLEMS AGAIN. I AM JUST RELIEVED THAT THE DRIVERS BEHIND ME IN EACH OCCURRENCE WHICH WOULD BE A TOTAL OF 4 WAS VERY PATIENT. I DID DO A DIAGNOSTIC REPORT WITH ONSTAR AFTER THE SECOND INCIDENT AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE 3 CODES ON MY CAR NOW AND THE LOSS OF POWER CAN BE AN ISSUE FOR THESE CODE AND TO GET THE CAR TO THE DEALER WITHIN 7 DAYS. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN LISTED ON THIS SITE MORE THAN ONCE. I AM NO LONGER UNDER THE WARRANTY FOR THIS VEHICLE AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. COLUMBIA, SC-AT LEAST TWICE A MONTH MY IGNITION SWITCH WILL NOT TURN TO THE OFF POSITION SO THAT THE KEY CAN BE REMOVED. I HAVE TO TURN IT BACK TO ON (IT'S NOT NECESSARY TO RESTART THE CAR) AND THEN BACK TO OFF IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE KEY. THIS BEGAN HAPPENING WITHIN A MONTH AFTER PURCHASING MY NEW 2011 EQUINOX. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER APRIL 19, 2011, AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM--"UNABLE TO DUPLICATE." THE PROBLEM CONTINUES, LAST OCCURRING 6/25/14. ALSO, DURING THAT SAME VISIT, I HAD REPORTED THAT THE A/C SMELLED LIKE MOLD WHEN I FIRST TURNED IT ON. 6/27/14, IT STILL SMELLS LIKE MOLD. AS WITH THE IGNITION, THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPT. COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE LATEST ISSUE STARTED AROUND 21,000 MILES. THE ENGINE, WHICH HAD ALWAYS RUN ROUGH (I ATTRIBUTED THIS TO THE 4-CYLINDER ENGINE) BEGAN SHUTTING DOWN WHEN I SLOWED OR STOPPED FOR TRAFFIC LIGHTS. I CALLED MY DEALER AND WAS ASKED WHERE I PURCHASED MY GAS AND TOLD TO GET SOME INJECTOR CLEANER! I THEN GOOGLED MY PROBLEM AND LEARNED THAT MANY OTHERS WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME SITUATION WITH THEIR 2011 EQUINOXES. I THEN CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR A PICKUP AND RODE IN THE WRECKER TO THE DEALER, WHERE I WAS GREETED WITH DISDAIN. I TOLD THE SERVICE ADVISOR TO GOOGLE "EQUINOX RECALL" AND READ THE POSTS, AND HE SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL (NOT YET, ANYWAY!) I TOLD HIM I KNEW THAT, BUT HE SHOULD LOOK AT THE MANY COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO MINE. THE NEXT MORNING HE CALLED TO SAY THAT THEY HAD FOUND A PROBLEM, THE SOLENOID VALVE. HE WAS A LOT FRIENDLIER WHEN I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE, HIS MAIN CONCERN BEING THAT I GAVE THE SERVICE DEPT. A GOOD REVIEW! NO APOLOGY FOR TREATING ME LIKE I WAS CRAZY. I WAS DOUBLE PARKED, WITH THE GEAR IN THE PARKING POSITION, TALKING TO MY COUSIN ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. WE TALKED FOR ABOUT ONE MINUTE. I WAS TRYING TO UNLOAD MY CAR TO TAKE SOME GROCERIES IN THE HOUSE. MY TRUNK WOULD NOT OPEN. I TRIED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS FROM THE INSIDE (DRIVERS SIDE) TWICE BUT THE TRUNK STILL WOULD NOT OPEN. THE CAR WAS IN PARK. I TRIED TO SWITCH GEARS (WHILE STILL ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE) BUT THE GEAR WAS STUCK. (ALL OF THIS WHILE RUNNING WITH THE CAR) MY COUSIN & I WERE HOLDING ON TO THE CAR AS BEST AS WE COULD TO TRY TO SLOW IT DOWN TO AVOID THE BABY BEING INJURED OR ROLLED COMPLETELY AWAY FROM US. THEN I THOUGHT TO JUST TRY TO GET THE BABY OUT WHILE SHE HELD ON TO THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN THE SPEED. THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY, CHEVROLET IS TRYING TO CHARGE US 100-200$ BUT WE HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH THE VEHICLE, NOT SURE IF WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS LEGAL, CAN THEY REALLY CHARGE TO REPAIR SOMETHING THAT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY? I THINK THE AIR CONDITIONER MALFUNCTION IS A SYMPTOM OF A MUCH GREATER PROBLEM, I.E. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE OR COMPUTERS ONBOARD THE CAR. ONSTAR SAYS SEVERAL THINGS HAVE BEEN RECALLED ON THE CAR, BUT THE GOVERNMENT RECALL SITE HAS NONE OF THOSE ITEMS LISTED. *JB
IN SEPTEMBER 2011, SIX WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING MY 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX, I WAS REAR-ENDED BY A HEAVY-DUTY PICKUP TRUCK. I WAS SO RATTLED BY THE COLLISION THAT I FORGOT THAT I HAD ONSTAR. THE OTHER DRIVER USED HIS CELL PHONE TO CALL THE POLICE. I RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES DURING THE ACCIDENT. A FEW DAYS LATER I TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT I THOUGHT IT WAS STRANGE THAT ONSTAR DID NOT CONTACT ME RIGHT AFTER THE COLLISION. HE CALLED ONSTAR AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED. THE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT THE REAR SENSORS SHOULD HAVE SIGNALED A COLLISION, BUT, BECAUSE THE SENSORS DID NOT ACTIVATE, ONSTAR WOULD REPORT THE PROBLEM TO GM. THE REP ALSO TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND GM MANAGEMENT IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE REP OFFERED TO EXTEND OUR ONSTAR TRIAL PERIOD FOR ANOTHER 6 MONTHS. IF GM IS AWARE OF THE REAR SENSOR MALFUNCTION, WHY AREN'T THEY CORRECTING THE PROBLEM? INSTEAD THEY ARE PLACATING CUSTOMERS WITH AN EXTENSION OF ONSTAR SERVICE. WHAT HAPPENS IF A MORE SERIOUS REAR-END CRASH OCCURS, THE DRIVER IS UNCONSCIOUS, AND CAN'T CALL FOR HELP? I WOULD LIKE THIS PROBLEM OF THE MALFUNCTIONING REAR SENSORS TO BE INVESTIGATED. *TR
I DRIVE A 2011 CHEVOLET EQUINOX AND ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, IT HAS SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT ACCELLERATE RIGHT AFTER CRANKING THE CAR UP AND PUTTING IT IN GEAR. NO ACCIDENTS HAVE OCCURED BUT THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER A DOZEN TIMES AND I HAVE SENT IT BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS FIXED BUT IT CONTINUES TO OCCUR. *TT
2011 CHEVY EQUINOX BATTERY FULLY DISCHARGED. CAR HAS 1300 MILES ON IT. CAR WAS IN GARAGE FOR TWO DAYS BEFORE STARTING. DEALERSHIP RECHARGED BATTERY AND DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO INVESTIGATE THIS FURTHER, SALES PERSON DOES NOT RETURN CALLS. GM ONLINE CUSTOMER SERVICE ONLY SENT AUTO REPLY WITHOUT ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM AND ON THE REPLY NAMED ME AS "FRANK", NOT MY NAME AT ALL. IT TOOK THREE TRIES TO JUMP START THE CAR. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2011 CHEV. EQUINOX ON 1/14/2011 AND THE BATTERY KEEPS GOING DEAD ON ME WHILE IT SITS IN MY GARAGE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW. IT HAS 623 MILES ON IT. I DON'T DRIVE IT EVERY DAY BUT IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN I OPEN THE BACK HATCH AND CLOSE IT. I MAKE SURE IT IS SHUT TIGHT AND ALSO THAT NO LIGHTS ARE LEFT ON. I REPORTED IT TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED IT FROM AND HE SAID TO TAKE IT TO A CHEV. DEALER AND HAVE THEM CHECK THE BATTERY AND ALSO RUN A PERASTATIC DRAW TEST ON IT. THE ONE DEALER I CALLED DID NOT SEEM INTERESTED IN DOING THIS AS HE STATED HE HAD NO OPENINGS EXCEPT THE FOLLOWING WEEK. WHEN I PLANNED ON TAKING IT IN THE BATTERY WAS AGAIN DEAD AND I AM NOW CHARGING IT UP AGAIN. I REALLY WANT TO FIND OUT WHAT IS HAPPENING TO IT. I HAVE A 2006 SILVERADO AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT. I ALSO HAD A 2004 BUICK LESABRE THAT GAVE ME THE SAME PROBLEM AS MY EQUINOX. IF THEY WERE NOT DRIVEN EVERY DAY OR SO THE BATTERIES WENT DEAD. NO DEALER COULD FIND THE PROBLEM WITH MY BUICK SO I GOT RID OF IT. ALSO THE EQUINOX SEEMS TO HESITATE BEFORE IT SHIFTS INTO ANOTHER GEAR. *TR
