Component: STRUCTURE:BODY:HOOD:HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS
Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2011-2016 Toyota Tacoma and 4Runner vehicles equipped with accessory hood scoops installed by SET or SET dealers. The adhesive attaching the hood scoop may weaken, allowing the hood scoop to detach from the vehicle.
Risk: If the hood scoop detaches, it may become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: SET will notify owners, and dealers will mechanically fasten the scoop to the hood, free of charge. The recall began on September 1, 2017. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-954-429-2000. SET's number for this recall is SET17B.
NHTSA Campaign: 14V828000
Component: EQUIPMENT
Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Toyota 4Runner, Tacoma, FJ Cruiser, Land Cruiser, RAV4, Scion FRS, and XB vehicles. The affected vehicles may have accessories installed by SET, such as running boards or other items, that were incorrectly installed. The accessory attaching fasteners were not tightened with the proper torque, possibly causing the accessory to detach from the vehicle.
Risk: Accessories that detach from a vehicle may result in a vehicle crash and/or personal injury.
Fix: SET will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and tighten the affected bolts, free of charge. The recall began February 23, 2015. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET's number for this recall is SET-14B.

Component: TIRES
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2015 Tacoma pickup trucks manufactured August 7, 2014, to December 22, 2014. The affected vehicles may have had their tires and wheels changed to TRD PRO accessory tires and wheels, causing the inflation information on the tire placard to be incorrect which may result in the tire being improperly inflated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims and Motor Home/Recreation Vehicle Trailer Load Carrying Capacity Information for Motor Vehicles with a GVWR of 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds) or less."
Risk: Improperly inflated tires may increase the risk of a vehicle crash.
Fix: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will send a revised tire placard with correct tire size and inflation information to owners, free of charge. The recall began March 13, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

Gulf States Toyota, Inc. (Gulf States) is recalling certain model year 2015 Toyota Tacoma vehicles manufactured September 2, 2014, to October 15, 2014. The affected vehicles may contain an incorrect Load Carrying Capacity Modification Label. As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims for Passenger Cars."
Risk: An incorrect label may result in the vehicle being overloaded, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Gulf States has notified owners, and dealers will install an accurate label, free of charge. The recall began December 1, 2014. Owners may contact Gulf States customer service at 1-800-444-1074.

Your Tacoma's frame is developing rust, along with other frame components. Additionally, the white paint is chipping in several areas, including the front bumper and door frames. Addressing this may involve rust treatment, repainting affected areas, and applying protective coatings to prevent further corrosion.

Your 2015 Tacoma was never treated with rust protection when it was new, and frame rot may have already started developing. The dealer confirmed the previous owner never came back for the scheduled rust protection service, and the dealership refused to perform any treatment now. Untreated frame rot can compromise structural integrity and potentially affect vehicle control while driving. Addressing this will likely require professional rust inspection, removal of corroded material, and application of protective coatings to prevent further deterioration.

Your 2015 Tacoma's Ribbon Blue paint has faded significantly on the roof and hood, and is chipping underneath the hood, around the windows, and under the doors. At just 10 years old with proper maintenance, this level of paint deterioration is premature and suggests a potential manufacturing defect. The fix would likely involve sanding, priming, and repainting the affected areas.

Your truck's white paint is flaking and peeling around the windows, doors, and engine bay, and the clear coat finish has worn away, leaving the paint looking dull and flat. Toyota has customer support programs to address this issue on similar vehicles, but your 2015 model year isn't covered by either program. You're requesting that Toyota extend one of these programs to include your vehicle.

Your Super White paint (040) is peeling around the exterior window frames. Toyota Customer Service told you that your 2015 model year wasn't included in their paint recall (SRP 23TE08), even though 2016-2022 models with the same issue are covered. You're hoping to get your vehicle added to the recall so Toyota will cover repairs.

Your windshield has cracked five times in about six years, which is unusual compared to your driving history. You've had replacements from both Toyota and aftermarket providers like Safelight, and these replacements have increased your insurance premiums. This pattern suggests a potential issue with either the windshield quality, installation, or how the windshield frame fits in your truck.

The paint is flaking off on the inside surfaces of all your doors. The affected paint is blue ribbon metallic color. This is a cosmetic issue that doesn't affect how your truck drives, but you may want to address it to prevent further deterioration.

Your truck's factory white paint is peeling around the window frames. Toyota's customer service told you that your 2015 model year wasn't included in their service repair program (SRP 23TE08) that covers the same issue for 2016-2022 trucks. You're hoping to get your repair approved by filing this complaint. The fix would likely involve Toyota repainting the affected window frame areas.

Your Tacoma's paint is peeling or chipping, which Toyota has acknowledged as a known issue in some white vehicles through a customer support program. Toyota's dealer confirmed you have this problem, but your specific Tacoma isn't covered under their official program even though it has the same defect. Addressing this would likely involve repainting the affected areas or applying a protective coating.

Your rear driver's side door has paint peeling or failing where the window seal meets the door frame, in an area about 2 inches tall by 3/4 inch wide. There's no rock chip or other damage that would explain why the paint failed in this spot. This appears to be a paint adhesion or coating defect rather than damage from normal wear.

Air Bags →1 issue
Your airbags failed to deploy during a rear-end collision at 30-35 MPH, even though your seatbelt was engaged. You were injured in the crash and taken to the hospital. Your vehicle has approximately 130,000 miles and has not yet been diagnosed by a dealer.

Seat Belts →1 issue
Your seat belt buckle won't click into place to secure the belt properly. The dealer confirmed the buckle is faulty, but the vehicle hasn't been repaired yet. This is a safety concern since the seat belt won't hold you in place during a crash. Fixing this will require replacing the faulty seat belt buckle assembly.

Vehicle Speed Control →1 issue
Your truck accelerated on its own while the brakes were being pressed, even though no warning lights appeared. This happened twice — the second time left the vehicle undrivable. The dealer found that your air filter, intake box, throttle body, and fuel injectors needed replacement to fix the issue.

Power Train, vehicle Speed Control →1 issue
Your Tacoma hesitates and shudders at exactly 40 mph when driving down inclines, with the engine RPMs fluctuating as if it's struggling to maintain speed. You may hear the engine stalling or stuttering, and the vehicle won't accelerate smoothly to keep pace with traffic—creating a safety hazard on winding roads. The dealer reset your drive mode settings but the problem persists. This may require inspection of the transmission torque converter or engine control systems to identify why the vehicle is unable to maintain consistent speed at that specific RPM range.

Tires →1 issue
You noticed cracks developing between the treads on all four of your Toyo Open Country A/T II tires after only 8,500 miles of use. When you contacted the tire manufacturer, they directed you to the online retailer where you purchased them rather than addressing the issue directly. The tires will likely need to be replaced under warranty through the tire seller or manufacturer.

Service Brakes →1 issue
Your emergency brake is getting stuck and locking up during use. When this happens, you have to rock the truck back and forth to free it up. This is a known issue affecting multiple Tacoma owners.

Electrical System,unknown Or Other,engine →1 issue
Your TRAC OFF and Check Engine warning lights came on. You've tried basic fixes like removing and reinstalling the gas cap and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery cables, but the lights remain on. The dealership scanned the vehicle for $100 but couldn't identify the problem and quoted $800 for further diagnosis, suggesting a rodent may have damaged a cable. Fixing this will likely require a detailed electrical system inspection to locate any damaged wiring or connections.

Engine,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your 2015 Tacoma is triggering a check engine light and traction control light when you start it on cold mornings, with a diagnostic code pointing to a problem with the secondary air injection system. The issue returns immediately after resetting the code. While this is a known problem affecting Tacomas, Toyota has not issued a recall for your vehicle year, though they have recalled some 2012 models and created a service bulletin for the fix—which is expensive.

Structure,unknown Or Other →1 issue
The paint is peeling on the exterior of both passenger-side doors above the window frame on your 2015 Tacoma. You're not alone—Toyota has issued a recall for this issue on certain vehicles with Super White paint, but your VIN wasn't included in that recall even though your truck has the same problem. Fixing this will likely require Toyota to repaint the affected door panels or replace them entirely.

Air Bags, unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your horn only works when you turn the steering wheel, which doesn't work normally. You're concerned this might be related to a clock spring issue that affected 2012 Tacomas in a previous recall. The fix likely involves inspecting or replacing the clock spring assembly in your steering column, which connects the horn and other controls.
