Tires Recalls (1)
TIRES:VALVE
Gulf States Toyota, Inc. (GST) is recalling certain 2023 Toyota RAV4 vehicles equipped with 17" black alloy accessory wheels. During installation of the alloy wheels, the tire valve stem may have been improperly installed or damaged. In addition, the load carrying capacity label may state the incorrect weight. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Fix: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the wheel valve stems and replace the load carrying capacity modification labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 18, 2023. Owners may contact GST customer service at 1-800-444-1074. GST's number for this recall is 23R1.

The passenger rear tire experienced a catastrophic tread separation failure on the highway at speed limit speed. Since this was on the freeway, loss of control could have been experienced and caused a severe incident injury to drivers in the vicinity of the incident. The problem just happened and will be inspected by an authorized dealer.

While driving on the highway at 11:30 AM, your car suddenly shook violently and a portion of the rear driver-side tire separated and rolled onto the roadside. When you safely pulled over, you discovered the tire had completely come off the rim with no prior warning signs. This happened at 5,355 miles on your new 2023 RAV4, just after a routine 5,000-mile service at a Toyota dealer. The fix will likely involve a complete tire replacement and inspection of the wheel rim and mounting hardware to determine why the tire failed.

Your front driver-side tire blew out while you were driving at 75 MPH, with both sidewalls exploding outward. No warning light appeared before the failure. The dealer replaced the tire and suggested you may have hit a pothole, though the tire was original equipment. Fixing this issue may involve replacing the damaged tire and inspecting the wheel for damage.
