While driving shortly after leaving your house, your Sportage's sunroof suddenly shattered with no apparent cause. You've owned the vehicle for a year and a half with no previous issues or prior damage, and there were no other vehicles nearby or bad weather at the time. The moving sunroof panel broke, not the stationary frame. The repair will likely require sunroof panel replacement and inspection of the sunroof mechanism.

Engine,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your 2024 Sportage experienced sudden engine shutdowns and severe bucking while driving, occurring three times within a month despite repeated repairs. The first incident involved a blown ignition fuse and faulty fuel pump relay; the second showed the ignition fuse blown again with a shattered catalytic converter; and the third revealed engine piston failure causing loss of compression. Kia ultimately replaced the entire engine long block to resolve the issue.

Electrical System, vehicle Speed Control, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your instrument panel screen may go blank and reboot while you're driving, lasting about 5 seconds. During this time, you won't be able to see your speedometer or warning lights, which creates a safety concern. The issue is caused by an abnormal electrical message in your vehicle's communication system. Kia will need to update your vehicle's software or replace the affected instrument cluster.

Engine,forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your adaptive cruise control has caused sudden hard braking when other vehicles move across lanes, dropping your speed from 60 mph to 35 mph in seconds—creating a rear-end collision risk. Additionally, your engine makes loud clicking sounds every time you start it for the day, and the noise has gotten worse over 1.5 years; the dealership has been unable to replicate either issue despite multiple visits and overnight service attempts. Fixes may involve recalibrating the forward collision avoidance system software and diagnosing the engine timing or internal components causing the startup noise.

Unknown Or Other,engine →1 issue
Your engine is shutting off completely whenever you come to a stop or press the brake pedal, forcing you to manually restart it to continue driving. This happens frequently, even in traffic or on the highway, creating a serious safety hazard. A Kia dealership attempted a repair, but the problem returned within a week, suggesting the underlying issue wasn't actually fixed. The engine may need diagnostics to identify a faulty sensor, fuel system component, or control module that's causing the stall condition.

Air Bags, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your 2024 Kia Sportage was involved in a front-end collision, but the airbags did not deploy despite the impact. The Forward Collision Assistance system also failed to warn you before the crash, even though it was active and conditions were normal. Both the airbag and collision avoidance systems are safety-critical components, and this failure may indicate a defect that could put you and passengers at serious risk. An investigation and potential recall or repair may be needed to address this issue.

Steering,service Brakes,forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your car's emergency brake system activated on its own while you were driving, completely stopping the vehicle and preventing you from moving. This unexpected brake engagement put you and your passenger at risk, and you were hit by another vehicle as a result. The car wasn't inspected because Kia's corporate office didn't respond to your calls. Fixing this will likely require Kia to diagnose the emergency brake control module and potentially replace or reprogram the forward collision avoidance system.

Power Train,service Brakes →1 issue
Your brake rotors and pads have failed twice before 25,000 miles, most recently showing shaking and slipping sensations during highway braking. The dealership replaced only rotors and bolts on the first repair, not the brake pads themselves, and attributed the second failure to driver error despite acknowledging the incomplete initial repair. Your vehicle may also be experiencing a powertrain issue where it feels stuck in first gear. The fix will likely require complete brake pad and rotor replacement, along with a powertrain inspection to diagnose the shifting problem.

Forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your forward collision warning system triggered a check engine light, caused hard braking without warning, and displayed a camera blockage error. This unexpected braking was startling and concerning. The issue appears to be related to an obstruction blocking the camera that monitors for potential collisions ahead.

Vehicle Speed Control →1 issue
While driving on the highway with cruise control set to 76 mph, pressing the plus button to increase speed caused the cruise control to jump to 110 mph instead of increasing gradually. After braking to stop the acceleration, turning cruise control off and back on repeatedly caused it to immediately reset to 110 mph for the next 45 minutes. This malfunction prevented normal cruise control operation and forced you to rely on manual braking. The fix will likely involve a software update or replacement of the cruise control module.

Visibility →1 issue
Your sunroof suddenly shattered while you were driving, even though there was no sign of impact damage to the glass. The collision center told you this is a known issue with similar vehicles. The sunroof will need to be replaced, likely requiring removal of the roof panel and installation of a new sunroof assembly.

Visibility/wiper →1 issue
After using your heated windshield defroster during a severe winter storm, you noticed a popping sound near the sunroof. When you returned home a week later, you discovered a large crack running down your windshield that originated near the rearview mirror sensor housing and extended across the middle of the glass. You believe the windshield glass is defective and more susceptible to temperature changes, and you're concerned this represents a safety hazard and design flaw that should be recalled.

Structure,visibility/wiper →1 issue
Your 2024 Kia Sportage's panoramic sunroof spontaneously shattered into pieces while driving at 65 mph on an Alaska highway in -5°F weather, with no impact from other vehicles or debris. Glass fragments were displaced outward (toward the sky) and the remaining glass shows fracture patterns suggesting internal stress rather than external impact, with minimal glass entering the cabin. The sudden, loud failure created a severe distraction at highway speeds. The issue may be related to thermal stress from extreme cold or a manufacturing defect in the sunroof assembly's ability to handle temperature extremes.

Electrical System, vehicle Speed Control, unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your instrument cluster screen randomly blacks out and restarts as if you've just turned on the car, happening multiple times daily at any speed or even while parked. When this occurs while using cruise control, the cruise control shuts off and resets after the screen comes back on, which is especially dangerous on highways with traffic around you. The dealership and Kia have been unable to identify or fix the problem despite nearly two years of attempts. The fix will likely involve diagnostic testing of the electrical system, instrument cluster, or vehicle control modules to identify the cause.

Exterior Lighting →1 issue
Your backup lights are very small and positioned low under the license plate, making them hard for other drivers to see when you're backing up in parking lots. This has created several close-call situations where other drivers don't notice you're moving backward. The fix would likely involve Kia redesigning the backup light assembly to be larger and more visible, or repositioning it higher on the vehicle.

Power Train →1 issue
When you switch your 2024 Kia Sportage to EV-only mode while driving, the engine RPMs unexpectedly surge to around 3000, and this happens frequently. You have video documentation of the problem. Kia has inspected the vehicle multiple times for electrical issues but says the vehicle is operating normally, even after having a technician compare it to a similar model for reference. This problem remains unrepaired. The fix will likely involve diagnosing and repairing the electrical system that controls the hybrid/EV mode switching.
