Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 963)
Engine →6 issues
Your engine consumed oil internally, which caused a rod bearing to fail and destroy the engine. Your wife experienced this while driving on the highway at 70 mph with no warning lights beforehand — she only heard a knocking sound before the engine died and she lost power to the wheels, nearly causing an accident. The dealership confirmed the oil consumption led to bearing failure. Addressing this would require engine replacement or complete engine rebuild with new bearings and gaskets.

Your 2014 Kia Sorento is consuming oil at an unusually high rate even though it's not leaking, and despite extensive repairs to gaskets, filters, O2 sensors, water pump components, spark plugs, and other engine parts. You're also experiencing loss of power during acceleration, particularly when trying to pass other vehicles, which creates a safety concern. The engine shows no diagnostic trouble codes, but multiple parts replacements haven't resolved the issues. A thorough engine inspection or potential engine replacement may be needed to identify the underlying cause.

Power Train,engine →3 issues
Your engine is burning through oil at an excessive rate, requiring 1 quart every 500 miles. Despite Kia's oil consumption test showing no problem initially, the issue has continued and has now caused a connecting rod to break due to engine starvation—you lost all power while driving with no warning even though the oil level appeared full. Kia has acknowledged these engines have known oil consumption issues that can lead to this exact failure, and many owners report similar problems with Kia refusing to replace the defective engine. Repairs will likely require complete engine replacement or major internal engine repair.

While driving at low speed and turning, your engine suddenly lost power and made knocking sounds before stalling completely. A mechanic found metal fragments in your engine oil, indicating serious internal damage, and your engine is now completely inoperable. This sudden failure created a safety hazard since you lost propulsion while driving and had to have the vehicle towed. The repair will likely require a complete engine replacement or major internal engine rebuild.

Electrical System →1 issue
Your 2014 Kia Sorento's push-to-start button stopped working, and the vehicle wouldn't start even after the dealer replaced the key fob and swapped in multiple key fobs to test. The dealer replaced two fuse boxes, but the vehicle still wouldn't start when you picked it up, and a jump-start attempt also failed—suggesting a complete loss of electrical power in the vehicle. You may also have experienced LED lights under the doors and dashboard not working, along with abnormal sounds from the vehicle. The fix will likely require a thorough electrical system diagnosis to identify what's causing the complete power loss, possibly involving replacement of the battery, alternator, or additional fuse boxes.
