Severe paint delamination has occurred on the vehicle, causing the clear coat and base coat (Snow White Pearl color) to come off on the hood, pillars, roof, and rear sides of the vehicle. Not only does the peeling paint create an airborne/debris hazard, it also risks exposing the vehicle to premature rust/corrosion. This issue slowly began in 2019 and has only become much worse. From the information I have gathered online, this is a widespread issue affecting this particular model/year/color of Kia.
The check engine light keeps going on and off and I took it to go get looked at and they said I had a faulty Cadillac converter. I looked it up and it said that they had recalls on 2014 Kia sorentos for that but when I check on the website it says I have no open recalls and I'm trying to figure out why my car is not on that list because this has been an ongoing problem and now it's so bad I'm starting to smell exhaust in the car. I'm really not sure on the date that it started I just know it's been awhile. Can you please help me.
Paint peeling on my car and looks terrible and no help at all through the Kia. Very poor service. I take care of my car and for my paint to peel this is not right at all and they Kia can't even back up the product. Kia dealer or Kia headquarters does nothing about the issue and I have to drive their product looking like this because they don't have any support with this issue.
I have a 2014 Kia Sorento 4DR LX AWD with snow white pearl exterior paint. I bought the vehicle new with 91miles on it from the dealership in Mentor Ohio. The vehicle has always been in my garage when not driving. Just before Christmas I noticed a small (dime size) piece of paint missing from my drivers side pillar then a few days later on the passenger side pillar almost half the paint was gone! I took my car to the dealership and they told me that they were going to log the complaint and took my VIN and said it was probably from a stone chip in the paint? What? A stone chip does not cause almost all of the paint to flake off???? I worked at a car dealership in the Service Department for years and this is not from a stone chip - its a paint defect. I'm not sure if this letter will do anything but just wanted my paint problem noted as I've seen many other complaints about the same issue. I am having issues with delamination and paint peeling off, on my driver's side pillar. The paint is the pearl white.
when I purchased the vehicle the check engine light came on the day after. It would come on and off as I would start and turn off the vehicle. The salesman told me that the check engine light was still on because they had just serviced it and it needed to be reset. No driving problems occurred until a year later. I took the vehicle to be diagnosed three times by three different auto mechanics. There was a recall on the vehicle that is no longer a recall. The Kia dealership service department told me that I would have to pay thousands of dollars to do a engine breakdown to see what the root problem is. The vehicle will not drive far anymore so I do not drive it and I'm still paying for it.
Whilst driving on the interstate,the vehicles engine shut off with no warning. Rpm and everything was as normal and the vehicle shut off with no gas power, nothing. Engine and oil lights started flashing heavily, engine started rattling. Upon checking battery all was normal, car started smelling of burning under the hood

The pearl white paint on my 2014 Kia Sorento is delaminating from my hood, roof and side pillars. I have an estimate of $2772.50. I have more pictures and a copy of the estimate but was unable to upload more file.
I took my Kia to Thomas Kia on April 12, 2023 and paid a total of $3321.93 for an oil change, fuel injection flush, engine oil flush, drive belt, oil pressure switch, front valve cover gasket, passenger brake bulb, high pressure ac line, cooling system flush, 6 spark plugs and plug assy-spark. I could not drive the car almost three months later I took my Kia back to Thomas Kia and was told it had a bad spark plug, a blown head gasket, oil leak into the cooling system and that would be an additional $6500. Are there any recalls that can help me?
My 2014 kia sx limited is pealing paint, a huge chuck on drivers side pillar. It has been garaged kept, and only has 150,000 miles. If u need I can send a picture.
While driving car it suddenly lost acceleration. RMP's wouldn't go above 1.5. Speed wouldn't go above 20MPH. Check engine light came on. Was going up a hill with lots of cars behind me and suddenly could barely move. Made it to an Advance Auto and they ran diagnosis on the check engine light and it came up with 2 different codes, relating to fuel system and crankshaft. When I got the vehicle to my local mechanic they saw the codes also, and that the car had gone through 4 quarts of oil. I wasn't at the mileage for an oil change yet, so not sure why oil was almost gone. Mechanic did and oil change and issue was still not fixed. Stating engine needs to be replaced. I have several other people with Kia's who have also recently expirenced massive oil consumption and engine dying. Car was running fine prior to just going into "limp" mode randomly. However I have had a battery issue with this vehicle since day one of purchase. I have been to several mechanics including a Kia dealership with no one being able to pinpoint what is draining the battery. I have had to replace the battery 6 times in 3 years, with my vehicle being dead every other day and sometime every day from Oct-Mar.
KIA SORENTO SNOW WHITE PAINT PEELING CHIPPING AND DELAMINATION. The paint on my 2014 Kia Sorento is experiencing peeling issues. 3 yrs ago I had to have my entire hood repainted, and just recently, and now the pillar on the driver's side is peeling. Very disappointing, esp since I only have 70K miles, and is garage-kept. I hope Kia does something about this. I even have the 100K miles warranty. Since this is an application issue which is a latent defect, and should be handled differently to my standard warranty.
2014 Kia Sorento was very very slowly being driven into a residential garage. Suddenly the car accelerated although the car was being driven very slowly. Driver hit brake hard. Car rammed into the garage wall creating a very large hole. Objects in front of the wall prevented worse damage. The car itself had only dust from drywall and a few minor scratches.There were no warnings prior to the failure. The driver's safety was at risk. This is 2/10/2024. The local KIA dealer cannot inspect the vehicle until late this coming week. I am afraid to drive this car. We have had it services regularly by KIA thru out the warranty and beyond.
UNKNOWN. I have taken my Sorento twice back to the dealership and they won’t fix recall til something happens
We are concerned that a recall notice was filed on this vehicle over two months ago for a severe issue, and there are no parts available or any other remedy available. This poses a huge safety risk for the manufacturer to allow these vehicles to be operated with this knowledge and no timeframe for repair
The pearl white paint is coming off the car from just driving the car. It started at 75k miles and now the car is rusting because of it. This white paint is discontinued now but what about the car they used the paint on. It's like this on the hood, sides of the window and the top of the car.
Catalytic Converter is out and is needing replacement. Dealership offered me $600 off which I accepted, so total repair cost will be $2650 out the door. Problem is the part is on back order until "TBD". Dealership and Kia Consumer Complaints can not give an ETA on when part is supposed to come in. Apparently there is a long list of backorders in Florida and Georgia. Kia is unwilling to work with consumers to cover either a loaner car or the part. If the part was in stock, I would have no issue. Issue is Kia requires this part to be repaired, but not only do they not have in stock, they can't even give me an estimate of when I could possibly get my car back. Their resolution is to have the consumer pay for their own rental car at $45/day until further notice, or I should explore my options for a trade in. If they're doing business this way and not valuing their customer, why would I want to start over? Kia has conducted a recall on Kia Souls for the same issue on 4/15/2022, looks like they need to go ahead and recall the Sorento's as well as there are many consumers in my same situation. So sad that Kia will not work with their customers, they should have parts in stock or readily available to be shipped. And especially if there are many people on backorder, it seems like a growing problem and Kia should be prepared for the influx. As of today, 9/19/2023, Kia Consumer Complaints has stated they have escalated my part, but still can't give me an ETA or will not offer assistance for their short comings.
I bought this 2014 kia sorento about 2 years ago from a small dealer. When I bought it there was minial peeling above my window on my hatch. When I bought my car it was already at 169,000. miles on it. In the last 6 months the paint has rapidly been peeling off on my doors and getting worse on the hatch. My car is currently at 205,866 miles. So in that time it started peeling off in 6 different areas. Over the winter when the first spot peeled we attempted to cover it up with a car paint in a panic afraid that it was going to rust. Although we noticed that the other spots where the paint is peeling and looks to be bare metal isn't even rusting. The thing is with these spots it wasn't starting with a chip then spreading. These spots were bubbling and then breaking and falling off while on the streets and the highway. We are very confused on why the paint is bubbling up then peeling off. After that inital tear in the bubble it continues to peel from there and get worse. Im afraid to was my car because the amount of the amount of paint that will come off. We also noticed that this wasn't the first time it has happend with my car. Like i said I bought it from a small dealer and after the right spot started peeling we started to take a clsoer look and we could see that some of the spots peeling have been previously covered up and resold. I just want my paint fixed for a mistake the manufaturer made.
On January 8, 2023, my 2014 Kia Sorento burnt up. I was driving down the street when I could see smoke and smell something burning. I stopped the car and got out just in time. It exploded and totally burnt. I have a video but it will not upload.

The paint (Snow White Pearl) on my Kia Sorento (2014) is peeling off of the drivers side door above window. Mileage of vehicle is 116000. Started on 2/1/23
The Snow white pearl paint on my 2014 Kia Sorento has started de-laminating and peeling. It became noticeable on the driver's side door post, which has peeled and grown to a substantial area since I first noticed it. Smaller areas can also be identified on the back bumper, the hood, and several other panels of the vehicle. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The problem has been confirmed by a certified body shop (Caliber Collision in Happy Valley Arizona). Please contact for additional details if needed. Attached photos are of the damage as of 1/30/2023. Paint condition continues to deteriorate and more photos will be available tracking the progression of the de-lamination.
Paint is delaminating on both passenger and driver side columns , around windshield, and hood. Paint is peeling after heavy rain and rock impact on freeway. Color:Pearl White. Inspected by autobody shop, state delaminatiom and entire car needs repainting to prevent future issues.

It was apparent on 9/17/22 that paint on our 2014 Kia Sorento was peeling off. We thought a piece of paper flew onto the roof. It was actually sheets of paint peeling off the top, back roof. The sheets were so large they could of imparted my vision if they fell into the front or back window. We plan to contact Kia Customer service next.

My 2014 KIA Sorento has paint peeling off in sheets. It started in 2017 when the car was only 4 years old. The dealership admitted that they knew it was a defect in the paint but refused to fix it because it was past the warranty date. I've heard that many other KIA owners are having the same issue, particularly with the Pearl White paint. I believe KIA should issue a recall and fix this known defect.
The oil in my car is disappearing biweekly. I have to fill my car up with oil almost every two week or it will make a horrible grinding noise in the engine. The oil isn’t leaking any where and I don’t think it’s burning because I don’t smell it when the car is running. I took it to my dealership where I get my oil changed they said they don’t know what the problem is and if I wanted it to be checked they were gonna charge me $700+ just to look and see why it’s disappearing. They then proceeded to tell me to let all of the oil drain and run the car until it dies and then put oil in it before it gets towed. This is a huge safety hazard because I have done some research and people who unknowingly had the same problem, had their engine catch on fire or their car would seize on them. I travel a lot and that would be a major hazard for people around me if my car were to catch fire or seize on the highway. There are no warning labels that will pop up to notify me my oil is low the grinding noise I hear in my engine is the only thing that lets me know I need to fill my car back up with oil. The oil disappearing started in October 2021 I have gone to two different mechanics and they told me they don’t know what is wrong unless they take apart the whole engine. I feel with as many people as I have read online about having the same issue there should be a way to know what is wrong without having to take apart the whole engine. I would opt to get a new car, but I am a college student and am currently paying on student loans so a new car is not an option right now for me.
1) After a period of approximately a month following an oil change I am losing oil. I constantly am having to replace / add oil. About a quart every 3000 to 3500 miles. I have been unable to detect any leaks nor do I think the head gasket is blown - no smoke in other words. Yes there is a oil low warning light that illuminates. and the other major issue is... 2) I have paint peeling off my car a 2014 Kia Sorento pearl white in color. It is peeling off the window angles on the front doors. I believe firemen refer to these as the A-posts. It is also peeling across the front top where the front windshield meets with the top of the cabin. It is also peeling across the front hood where the hood meets the grill. I have approximately 109k miles on the car at this writing.

The white paint on my car started with a tiny chip within the last year for no reason (there wasn’t a scratch or dent) and has turned into a large area above my windshield that is rusting. Repair and repainting will require removal of the windshield and thousands of dollars.
There is a latent defect in the paint from the manufacturer. It is available for inspection upon request. I first started noticing the paint falling off from the vehicle somewhere between 01/2019 and 04/2019. It has spread across considerable parts of the hood and is also starting to fall off in multiple other areas including the roof.

I have a 2014 white/pearl Kia Sorento and the paint is peeling off. I took it to a shop and was told that it is delamination and that's why the paint is peeling off. It started off looking like a rock chip but it is steadily peeling off.

Feb 27, 2022 is when it was observed by this writer. Now questioning what was stated when the SUV was purchased as a CPO in regards to paint. The paint on the car is delaminating. I piece came off and got stuck on the diver side window. Concerned that a piece could come off the SUV and get stuck on the windshield obstructing the drivers visibility.

2014 sorento- exterior lights very dim. Dangerous and hard to see they go out weirdly often and randomly. replaced lights and driver side turn signals now not working or the led strip lash out as well. Pearl white paint is chipping/peeling on hood and pillars. Emailed kia support have not heard anything back.
The problem with my car is the peeling of the paint, it started happening in the front hood then it’s on my over my windshield by the roof and on the driver side also peeling never seen this on any car that I’ve ever owned I’ve also seen a lot of Kia‘s on the road with the same problem are you guys doing anything about this problem I’m sure I’m not the first one to report it
The paint began peeling approximately 2 years ago and Kia refused to cover the repair fee.
I was driving on the high way and took an exit. I started to smell something from my car so I turned it off at a stop light. I looked briefly at the dash but no lights where on. Then I saw smoke coming from the hood of my car. So I put my emergency flashers on and got out within seconds of getting out the smoke turned to flames so I called 911. Entire front of my car was in flames and a couple small explosions happend I believe the first one was the air bags but the second sent my hood flying upwards. My entire inside of the car was chard by the time the fire rescue showed up. There was a line of traffic behind me that stretched close to a mile since it was during traffic night. I didn’t have enough time to pull the car over safely without the risks of being inside the car while it had fully ignited. The fire men had to get people and cars away from my car. I don’t know what failed or what happens but the fire started from under the hood. The car is pretty badly burnt so I don’t think there’s a way to examine anything. It is a total loss. Upon googling I’ve noticed a few more reports of Kia 2014 Sorentos catching fire. I don’t know which component caused it so I can’t say if it had been examined at all. It also happens extremely fast and I didn’t have any warning as to a fire breaking out. If I had stayed in the car to drive it to a safe clearing I would have been caught in the blaze. The only light that came on was tier pressure, which had come on a few days prior. No other warning lights came on. Not even during when the smoke appeared. The only thing that warned me was a strange odor right before I saw the smoke.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, there was an abnormal fuel odor detected coming from the vents. The contact pulled over and inspected under the hood of the vehicle and saw that there was a leak coming from the high-pressure fuel pump. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that there was a leak coming from the damaged high-pressure fuel line. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact had an engine replacement under warranty in May 2021. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V907000 (Fuel System, Gasoline, Engine). The failure mileage was 60,800.

Paint (Snow White Pearl) Delamination on right side A-pillar and center of hood near the grill. A-pillar peeling happened in January 2021. Hood peeling happened in July 2021 during a windy monsoon rainstorm. Both paint issues were fixed at owner's cost.
While driving alone at night a on dark two lane highway, both low beam headlights went out at the same time leaving me in the frightful and dangerous situation of not being able to see where I was headed. I was however able to safely stop on the side of the road and do some troubleshooting. All the other lights (high beam, turn, parking, fog, etc.) worked perfectly. The instrument panel showed that the low beams were still on. No warning of any type of malfunction was indicated or shown. I have not contacted KIA about the problem yet, but I am sure they are aware of the problem. I have read multiple blogs online and this appears to be a common problem, and has been for a long time, with multiple KIA models and generations. My suspicions are the problem may be in either the multi-position switch, airbag clock spring, or cable harness, or any combination of the three. It is my understanding the fuses and relays for the lights are side related ( all either on LH or RH). I checked fuses and relays even though I find it hard to believe both sides would go bad at the same time, and all were good. There is a long history of this electrical problem in these vehicles that needs to be found and fixed before someone needlessly loses their life. Who knows, maybe someone has already been killed. Lights go out, they go off the road and hit a tree. The instruments would show the headlights are on, but they were not. Now its hard to prove with the head lights totally destroyed.

The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. A few months ago I noticed a chip in the white pearl paint of my 2014 KIA Sorrento. Since then, the paint has continued to chip and there is now a big spot on my drivers side panel by the windshield that does not have paint. In addition, I have noticed chips on my hood that will probably do the same thing. I tool my car into a body shop to see if they can repaint it and I was told that this has happened to many KIA's that have the white pearl paint. In addition, I called my local KIA dealer's shop and was told the same thing. He even guessed the color before I could tell him.

The "snow white pearl" paint has a defect. It peels and chips on its own.
MY KIA PEARL WHITE PAINT HAS BEEN BUBBLING AND COMING OFF FOR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF. I ONLY HAVE 40K MILES ON MY CAR AND I AM DEVASTATED. I DO NOT DRIVE MUCH SO THIS HAS HAPPENED SITTING IN MY GARAGE. MY CAR JUST SHUTS OFF DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD .WAS ON INTERSTATE 81 WHEN IT JUST CUT OFF LOST ALL CONTROLS THANK GOODNESS I WAS IN RIGHT LANE AN DRIFT TO SIDE THIS INTERSTATE IS VERY BUSY WITH TRACTOR TRAILERS. IT STARTED BACK UP AN MADE TO A EXIT AN IT DID IT AGAIN .HAVE SENT TO GARAGE AN FIXED A CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HOPING THAT WAS THE PROBLEM BUT IT WASN'T. STILL DOING IT. VERY DANGEROUS THIS CAN CAUSE A VERY BAD ACCIDENT I WAS LUCKY THAT I COULD GET OUT OF WAY OF TRAFFIC .I JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE.ALSO WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON
ON DECEMBER 24TH, AROUND 9:30 AT NIGHT, I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON I25 (HIGHWAY) TOWARD DENVER AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPG. MY FAMILY, INCLUDING MY WIFE, 2 BOYS AND MOTHER-IN LAW WERE PASSENGERS. THE TEMPERATURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40 DEGREES AND I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT. WITH NO WARNING, A LARGE THUNDEROUS BOOM SOUNDED, SIMILAR TO A GUNSHOT. THE SUNROOF HAD BASICALLY EXPLODED. WE DID NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AS WE DID NOT GO UNDER A BRIDGE OR ANY OTHER STRUCTURE THAT COULD HAVE DROPPED DEBRIS ON THE CAR TO CREATE SUCH DAMAGE. I PULLED OVER AT THE NEXT EXIT TO EXAMINE THE DAMAGE AND TO CHECK ON THE PASSENGERS. MY MOTHER IN LAW SUSTAINED A MINOR CUT DUE TO THE GLASS. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF DEBRIS OR A POSSIBLE BULLET THAT COULD HAVE COME FROM A GUN SHOT....THE LOUD NOISE SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT. THE SUNROOF NOW HAD A HUGE 2 FOOT DIAMETER HOLE AND SHATTERED GLASS WAS LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. I WAS ONLY 4 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOME, SO THE ATTACHED PICTURES WERE TAKEN FROM MY GARAGE THE NEXT MORNING.
PURCHASED A USED 2014 KIA SORENTO SHOWING 106K MILES. TEST DRIVE WITH THE SALESMAN FOR ABOUT 6 MILES VARIOUS TYPES OF ROADS. VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE CAR, PERFORMED WELL. PURCHASED IT SATURDAY AFTERNOON JUST PRIOR TO THE USED CAR DEALER CLOSING. AFTER PAPERWORK AND PLATES DONE, DROVE IT TOWARD HOME. ABOUT 4 MILES FROM DEALER (INTERSTATE HIGHWAY) SAW THE TEMPERATURE GUAGE CLIMBING INTO THE HOT AREA. NO OTHER ERRORS OR LIGHTS CAME ON. LET OFF ON GAS TO PULL OVER AND TEMP GUAGE CAME DOWN TO NORMAL. CONTINUED WITH CAUTION THINKING THIS WAS A FAULTY GUAGE OR SENDER UNIT. LIMPED HOME SLOWLY. NOTICED GOING UP HILLS AND PULLING HARD TEMP WOULD CLIMB. LETTING OFF GAS TEMP WOULD DROP TO NORMAL. LONG STORY SHORT GOT THE CAR TO A VERY REPUTABLE AND EXPERIENCED GARAGE. ENGINE COULDN'T BE REPAIRED ECONOMICALLY. DEALER DID OFFER MONEY BACK. AS MUCH AS I DIDN'T WANT TO, WOUND UP HAVING TO INSTALL ANOTHER USED LOW MILAGE V6 ENGINE. DURING THE MONTH IN THE GARAGE I HAD DONE MUCH RESEARCH & DIGGING & TALKING OFTEN WITH THE VERY EXPERIENCED MECHANIC IN CHARGE OF THE JOB. COOLANT WAS LOW AND ALL BUT TWO OF THE HEAD BOLTS WERE MORE THAN FINGER TIGHT !! HOW THIS ENGINE WAS RUNNING WAS BEYOND ME, IT WAS! DURING ALL THIS RESEARCH I READ OF MANY HEAD GASKET PROBLEMS AND LEAKS HAD BEEN REPORTED. THE THING THAT WAS REALLY CONCERNING WAS THE NUMBER OF ENGINE FIRES THAT HAD NO REAL CAUSE REPORTED AFTERWARDS. MY CONCERN IS IF I HAD CONTINUED DRIVING THIS CAR HARD, COULD A LEAKY HEAD GASKET CAUSE A FIRE UNDER THE HOOD? I LEARNED FROM THE MECHANIC ALL THESE HEAD BOLTS STRIPPED THE THREADS FROM THE BLOCK. I ALSO LEARNED THERE IS ANOTHER 1.5 INCHES OF UNUSED THREADS INSIDE THE BLOCK! MY SUSPICION IS KIA SKIMPED ON THE LENGTH OF ALL THESE HEAD BOLTS TO SAVE A BUCK PUTTING THE RELIABILITY AND SAFETY AT THE CUSTOMERS RISK. IS MY SAFETY AT RISK? THIS PAST SATURDAY MY CHILDREN AND I WERE DRIVING BACK HOME TO UTAH COUNTY FROM IDAHO AND WHILE ON THE FREEWAY 3/4MILE FROM THE PROVO CENTER STREET EXIT GOING 75MPH WE ALL OF A SUDDEN HEARD A VERY LOUD BOOM! IT SOUNDED LIKE A BOMB WENT OFF IN OUR CAR, I WAS SO CONFUSED AND MY KIDS WERE SCARED. THERE WAS WIND COMING IN FROM SOMEWHERE, BUT I DIDN'T REALIZE IMMEDIATELY THAT IT WAS THE FROM THE SUNROOF. I LOOKED BACK WHERE MY CHILDREN WERE SEATED AND COULD SEE LITTLE BLACK SHARDS OF SOMETHING COMING IN THROUGH THE SIDES OF THE FABRIC SUNROOF COVER. WHILE I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO PULL OVER I ASKED MY OLDEST SON WHAT THE BLACK STUFF WAS, HE SAID 'MOM, IT IS GLASS.' I HAD MY KIDS COVER THEIR BODIES WITH THEIR BLANKETS THAT THEY HAD WITH THEM FOR PROTECTION AGAINST THE FLYING GLASS, UNTIL I COULD SLOW DOWN COMPLETELY.ONCE PULLED OFF THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY I STOOD UP ON THE OUTSIDE OF MY DRIVER DOOR JAM AND COULD SEE THAT MY SUNROOF HAD A GIANT HOLE IN IT AND WHAT LITTLE GLASS REMAINED WAS SHATTERED INTO THOUSANDS OF PIECES. THERE WAS NOT A SEMI OR LARGE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME THAT COULD HAVE KICKED SOMETHING UP ONTO MY CAR. I DON'T RECALL EVER RUNNING OVER ANYTHING OR SEEING ANYTHING FLIP UP. I LITERALLY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT HAPPENED. NOW WE ARE STUCK WITH A HUGE BILL AND FILING A CLAIM ON OUR INSURANCE FOR SOMETHING THAT I CAN'T EXPLAIN. FOR SOMETHING THAT WASN'T MY FAULT NOR ANOTHER VEHICLES FAULT. I SPOKE WITH MY LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP AND THEY PRETTY MUCH TOLD ME THAT I WAS SOL BECAUSE I AM PAST THE 5 YEAR OR 60,000 WARRANTY. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN STRANGE ODOR DETECTED THEN SMOKE FROM ENGINE AREA WAS NOTICED. PULLED CAR INTO PARKING LOT AND SHUT DOWN ENGINE BECAUSE THOUGHT MAY BE OVERHEATING. NONE OF GUAGES REFLECTED THIS, HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO OTHER LOGICAL EXPLANATION. WAS GOIN TO OPEN HOOD WHEN NOTICED FLAMES. IN MATTER OF MINUTES, VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. WAS A TOTAL LOSS.
WHILE DRIVING CAR IN MOTION AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD, CAR LOST COMPLETE POWER. NO STEERING, VERY HARD BRAKING AND THEN ALL WARNING LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING I HAD TO STRUGGLE TO GET CAR OFF THE ROAD. I HAD JUST TURN OFF THE THRUWAY GOING 60MPH AND IN ABOUT 1.5 MILES GOING APPOX 40 MPH THE INCIDENT HAPPENED. SOMETHING SIMULAR LIKE THIS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED AND I WENT TO START IT WHEN ALL THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND CAR WOULD NOT START.I HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY DID NOT FIND WHAT WAS WRONG BUT CAR WAS OK UNTIL THIS RECENT INCIDENT.
TAKARA RECALL - WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AT FEDERAL WAY WA, THE ENTIRE ENGIN SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AT HAVEY TRAFFIC AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCK SO I COULDN'T TURN OR MOVE. AND, I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT, SO I TOOK MY CAR TO DEALERSHIP BUT, THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM AND SAID COME BACK AGAIN IF SAME PROBLEM COMING BACK LATER, BUT I AM NOT FEEL SAFETY TO DRIVE THIS CAR.
THE ENGINE BLEW AFTER A FEW DAYS WHEN WARRENTY EXPIRED AFTER A DEALER SENT THE CAR HOME SAYING UNLESS WE COULD PROVE OR SHOW A MAINTENANCE HISTORY OF THE CAR THEY WOULD NOT DO WARRENTY WORK. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT USED SO WE COULD NOT PROVIDE A LONG REPAIR OR MAINTENACE RECORD OF THE CAR. HOWEVER WE BOUGHT A EXTENENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS NOT ENTERED CORRECTLY IN THE SYSTEM AND THE CAR WAS STILL SENT CLEARED AS BEING OK TO DRIVE EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE BLEW WITHIN A FEW DAYS OF DEALER SERVICE IN OFFALLON IL.EVERY SORRENTO OTHER THAN THIS YEAR HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR ENGINE PROBLEMS SO WHY NOT OURS.

I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND TRYED TO LEAVE THE CAR BUT THE DOOR DIDN'T OPEN. IT WAS LOCKED AND THE ELECTRIC DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON WAS NO LONGER WORKING. I PULLED ON THE MANUEL UNLOCK AND WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF CAR. MY NEIGHBOR WAS OUT SIDE COMING TO HELP BUT I ASKED HIM TO CALL FIRE DEPT. HE INFORMED ME THAT WAS ALREADY DONE. I RAN A GOT MY GARDEN HOSE AND POURED WATER ON THE FIRE BUT FIRE WAS WAY TO BIG AND HOT FOR A GARDEN HOSE SO I SPRAYED THE GRASS AROUND THE CAR AND PUT OUT THE FIRES THAT STARED WHEN PARTS OF THE HOT CAR EXPLODED AND LANDED AWAY FROM THE CAR.

AFTER ALL THE TROUBLES I HAVE HAD WITH THE VEHICLE, LOCKS DONT UNLOCK, ENGINE IS FAILING, AND NOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VALVES. A VALVE CAN BE HEARD TAPPING IN MY CARS ENGINE, IT SOUNDS AND FEELS (VIBRATIONS CAN BE FELT BY HAND) THAT IT IS ALMOST CERTAINLY IN BANK 2 (TOWARDS FRONT OF CAR) ALMOST DIRECTLY BELOW/BEHIND THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. NOW HYPOTHETICALLY IF I WERE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE VALVE DROPPED, CONSEQUENTLY PUNCHING A WHOLE IN THE CYLINDER HEAD, FORCING OIL THROUGH THE WHOLE, AND IGNITING IT, I WOULD THINK THAT IT WOULDNT TAKE MORE THAN A FEW MOMENTS FOR THE FLAMES TO CATCH THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND VERY SHORTLY AFTER ENGULFING THE ENTIRE ENGINE AND VEHICLE IN FLAMES. I AM ALSO SURE THEIR ARE LIKELY MANY OTHER SCENARIOS THAT ARE POSSIBLE, BUT WITH ALL THE ENGINE PROBLEMS MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN HAVING WHILE STILL UNDER 80K MILES. I HAVE HARDLY DRIVEN MY VEHICLE AT ALL SINCE THE ENGINE STARTED FAILING IN JUNE, AND I BELIEVE IT HAS ALWAYS HAD THIS NOISE (DEALERSHIP HAD INSISTED IT WAS THE GDI NORMAL NOISE WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE)TO LAST WEEK O HAPPENED TO NJ PRICE THE NK OISE GETTING LOUDER AND ASKED A MECHANIC WHAT IS COULD BE. THAT MECHANIC STATED IT DEFINATELY SOUNDED LIKE A VALVE.
ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF AS I AM DRIVING. SOMETIMES, THE SPEEDOMETER MOVES QUICKLY OVER THE INCORRECT SPEEDS SO I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT SPEED I AM GOING. IT'S ONLY A FOUR YEAR OLD CAR WITH 56,000 MILES. ALSO, SAME VEHICLE HAS ISSUE WITH THE GAS TANK DOOR. CANNOT OPEN USING THE SWITCH INSIDE THE CAR. MUST USE THE EMERGENCY PULL INSIDE A TRUNK COMPARTMENT.
THE FRONT PASSENGER AND THE THE TWO BACK DOOR AS WELL AS THE BACK (ENTRY TO CRGO AREA) LOCKS DO NOT OPEN WITH ANY DEVICE....ONLY THE DRIVERS DOOR UNLOCKS., THE AFOREMENTIONED HAVE TO BE OPENED BY HAND.. THEY DO CLOSE WHEN THE KEY IS IN IGNITION AND THE DRIVE OR REVERSE IS ENGAGED, BUT THEY DO NOT REOPEN WHEN PRESSING OPEN LATCH AT DRIVERS SIDE., THIS COULD BE A SAFETY PROBLEM WHEN ONE NEEDS TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. HAD VEHICLE CHECKED AT KIA DEALER IN MISSISSIPPI AND WAS TOLD THAT ALL THREE ACTUATORS WERE GONE AND THAT DRIVERS WAS ON THE WAY OUT. THIS TO ME IS A TOTAL DEFECT....MANY CONSUMER COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED ABOUT DOOR LOCKS ON SOME KIAS. THERE IS NO REASON FOR 3 TO GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME. THE CAR IS NOT IN WARRANTY AND THE COST TO REPAIR WAS OVER $800.00 I BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM AND THAT KIA SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE WORK.
TODAY, I WAS PUTTING MY SON IN HIS CAR SEAT BEHIND THE DRIVERS SEAT. I HAD PLACED THE KEY IN THE FRONT SEAT WHILE PUTTING HIM IN THE CARSEAT. WHEN I HAD SHUT THE BACK DRIVER SIDE DOOR, THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED. EVERY DOOR OF OUR VEHICLE LOCKED AUTOMATICALLY WHILE MY 2 YEAR OLD SON WAS INSIDE THE CAR. WE HAD TO CALL A TOW COMPANY TO COME AS AN EMERGENCY TO UNLOCK OUR CAR. IT TOOK THEM 30 MINUTES TO EVEN GET TO OUR LOCATION. WHEN THE CAR WAS UNLOCKED MY SON WAS HOT TO THE TOUCH AND SWEATING. THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS 72 DEGREES. THIS IS A SAFELY HAZARD FOR THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT LOCK ON ITS OWN WHILE NOT IN MOTION IF ANY AT ALL. IF IT HAD BEEN ANY HOTTER DURING THIS DAY, I WOULD HAVE HAD TO BREAK THE CAR WINDOW JUST TO SAVE MY SON FROM BECOMING A HEAT RELATED CASUALTY AND GOING TO THE HOSPITAL OR ANYTHING WORSE.

TOWED FROM HOME DRIVEWAY. WAS TOLD IT WAS THE KEY FOB BATTERY. 6/12/17 - BARNET KIA - TOWED IN; CAR STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. STALLED AT RED STOP LIGHT LEFT TURN LANE. COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND CARE STARTED UP ON 6/14/17 FINE. TOLD TO COME GET MY CAR. 7/17/17 - BARNET KIA - VEHICLE TOWED; STALLED AT RED STOP LIGHT LEFT TURN LANE. HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN BECAUSE NO ONE IS CONTACTING ME FROM KIA.
JANUARY 5, 2017, I WAS ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY IN WASHINGTON HEADED HOME FROM A DAY OF SHOPPING AND MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS. I WAS 3 EXITS FROM MY HOME WHEN I HEAD A LOUD BANG LIKE A GUN SHOT. I SWERVED BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS A TIRE OR MY WINDSHIELD. BEFORE I COULD PULL OFF OF THE HIGHWAY I HEARD AND SAW THAT THE CLOTH COVER OVER MY SUNROOF WAS SHAKING AND SLAPPING AGAINST THE WIND. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND CHECKED MY SUN ROOF. MY SUN ROOF EXPLODED! THERE WAS NOT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME OR NEXT TO ME AND I KNOW NOTHING HAD HIT IT. MY SUN ROOF RANDOMLY EXPLODED! I DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP. THE TECHNICIAN TRIED TO TELL ME AND SHOW ME WHERE HE SAID A ROCK HAD HIT IT. HE STUCK HIS PEN INTO A STARBURST AND TRIED TO TELL ME THAT A ROCK HAD HIT ME.
I DROVE MY KIA TO THE END OF THE DRIVEWAY TO GET THE MAIL. UPON SHUTTING THE DOOR, MY REAR WINDSHIELD EXPLODED OUTWARD. I CONTACTED KIA AND SPOKE WITH JOSE AND WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE IT TO A KIA DEALERSHIP SO THEY COULD DETERMINE IF THE WINDSHIELD WAS DEFECTIVE. MY HUSBAND TOOK IT TO SPITZER KIA AND AFTER WAITING 4 HOURS WAS TOLD THEY WOULDN'T COVER IT. SHAWN WAS THE MECHANIC THAT LOOKED AT THE WINDSHIELD AND TOOK PICTURES. PICTURES WERE SENT TO STEVEN RUPERT, FIELD TECHNICAL REP FOR KIA. MR. RUPERT MADE THIS DECISION VIA EMAIL TO SHAWN, PER SHAWN. I CONTACTED KIA ONCE AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THEY GO BACK WHAT IS REPORTED AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO.
APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AGO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON (P2098) IN MY 2014 KIA SORENTO EX V6 GDI WITH ABOUT 11,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I TOOK IT IN TO KIA. THEY STATED IT WAS A KINKED WIRE. LAST WEEK, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RETURNS (P2098). IT WAS CHECKED THIS TIME AND A REASON COULD NOT BE FOUND. A TECHLINE FOLDER WAS OPENED AND IT WAS RESEARCHED WITH KIA ENGINEERS WHO SAID THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM IN OTHER SORENTOS. THEY ARE SEARCHING FOR THE ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM AND I AM TO CONTINUE TO TAKE MY SORENTO TO THE DEALER WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON SO THAT THEY HAVE A RECORD OF IT. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO LET US KNOW WHEN A SOLUTION HAS BEEN FOUND SO IT CAN BE REPAIRED. I JUST DON'T KNOW HOW LONG THIS IS GOING TO GO ON BEFORE A FIX IS IN PLACE.
UPON OPENING THE DRIVER'S DOOR, IT HIT MY LEFY EYBROW DUE TO THE UNFINSIHED AND SHARP UPPER RIGHT CORNER OF THE DOOR; I WAS TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND HAD 9 STECHES
