Your Jeep's ABS (antilock braking system) module is defective and no longer manufactured by Jeep, making the vehicle difficult or impossible to drive safely. The module has caused your Jeep to shut down twice while driving on the highway, forcing you to pull over—a serious safety risk. Fixing this will require replacing the ABS module with either a used part from another vehicle or finding an aftermarket alternative.

Your ABS (anti-lock braking) module has failed and you've been unable to find a replacement for over a year. This is affecting your braking performance and overall driving safety. Additionally, your transmission is staying in lower gears, causing the transmission fluid to overheat, which can damage the transmission if not addressed.

Your ABS (anti-lock brake) system has failed, causing your brake, ABS, and traction control warning lights to stay on. When you brake hard on wet roads, your tires lock up and your Jeep slides instead of the ABS preventing this. The dealer told you the ABS module has an internal failure and replacement parts aren't available; you've found this is a widespread issue with no permanent fix from dealers.

Your antilock brake control module has failed, causing your brake pedal to feel spongy and unresponsive with a low pedal feel. You're also seeing brake, ABS, and traction control warning lights on your dashboard, and experiencing wobbling or instability in the front and rear of the vehicle, making it unsafe to drive. The replacement part is on national backorder with no estimated availability, and your dealer has been waiting over a year and a half for it to arrive. Fixing this will require replacing the antilock brake control module, which may involve sourcing the part from alternative suppliers or exploring workaround options with your dealer.

Your car's ABS brake module has failed, causing the ABS, traction control, and brake warning lights to stay on. This failure is also triggering transmission-related check engine codes, making your vehicle undriveable. The repair will require replacing the ABS module, though the owner notes this part is difficult to source.

Your ABS control module has failed, causing your anti-lock braking system, traction control, and stability control to stop working. You'll see warning lights on your dashboard after about 10 minutes of driving, though they temporarily reset if you turn the car off—but they'll come back. Your regular brakes still work, but without these electronic safety systems, you have less control during emergency stops or on slippery roads. The fix requires replacing the ABS control module, which is currently very hard to get from dealerships due to long backorders.

Your ABS (anti-lock brake) module has stopped working, and Jeep has discontinued this part and its internal chip, making it impossible to repair. You're currently driving without ABS functionality, which reduces your braking control in emergency situations. Fixing this issue would require replacing the entire ABS module with a compatible aftermarket or used unit, since OEM parts are no longer available.

Your ABS (anti-lock braking) control module has failed, which affects your braking system's ability to prevent wheel lock-up during emergency stops. The dealer says the replacement part is either unavailable or costs significantly more than normal, and research suggests this is a widespread issue that's being back-ordered. Getting the module repaired or replaced will require purchasing a new ABS control module and having it installed by a technician.

Your ABS warning light came on and you got a message saying your brake light bulb failed, even though the bulb works fine. A mechanic diagnosed the problem as a failed ABS module that needs to be replaced, but the part is backordered or discontinued at multiple dealers with no clear delivery date. The fix will require replacing the ABS (anti-lock brake system) module, though availability is currently limited.

Your Jeep's ABS (anti-lock braking) and traction control systems have failed, and the dealer says replacement parts have been on backorder for over a year with unclear status on whether they'll be available again. While your vehicle still drives, this is a significant safety concern since these systems help prevent skidding and loss of control in emergency braking or slippery conditions. The repair will require replacing the ABS module or related brake system components.

ABS module has gone bad and Jeep Chrysler dealership has told me that they only have nine parts in the nation to replace it and the engineers are not confident in the replaced part, they won’t know when the part would be available and I was also told that if I continue to drive it I could potentially damage other components of the Jeep Wrangler. I was also told by personal mechanic that I shouldn’t drive it as I don’t not have Anti lock breaks..
While I was attempting to park my jeep across the street from my grandson's school to pick him up at 3:18, as I proceeded to pull in front of the apron so I could backup to a parking spot. In the process of going forward before I got a chance to put the jeep in reverse my brakes failed, hitting a parked car in front of me. I had my jeep towed to Old Center Island Auto Service. The mechanic removed a defective power brake booster and replaced it with a new one.
Abs light illuminated on dash causing loss of power
Parking break slips a lot. Started about 30,000 miles now has 49,000. It is a standard transmission & Slips on flat or any incline progressively getting worse.
Wednesday may 11th approximately 5pm. Was sunny and dry. Turned out of mcdonalds driveway. All of a sudden my brake pedal went to the floor. There was very slight pressure just before it bottomed out. I was lucky no one was in front of me. I could not stop. No dash lights came on. I coasted to stop at gas station. While I waited for a tow truck I started car to move into a better spot. Using parking brake. I then just started pumping brakes. And all of a sudden pressure came back and brakes worked as normal. I immediately towed jeep to dealership. They could not recreate the issue. Everything works fine.
I own a 2013 Wrangler Unlimited. Since new, the parking brake has been ever-more-difficult to engage. On October 26, I was using the Jeep around my property and had to exit the vehicle while in neutral (auto transmission) and attempted to engage the parking brake. If the handle is pulled slowly, SOMETIMES the brake engages enough to hold. In this particular instance, I pulled the handle slowly, felt some resistance to indicate the brake engaged, and exited the vehicle. The brake then relieved enough pressure to allow the vehicle to roll back into a hole form where a stump had been. Fortunately I was not injured and the Jeep did not collide with anything. This emphasized to me a previously-known safety issue with the product. The design of the brake lever is supposed to be self-adjusting, however in reality, the clutch mechanism to do this allows slippage to the point where the handle hits the backstop prior to engaging the brakes on many Wrangler JKs that are only a few years old. This is a well documented problem in JK forums and many owners have created workarounds to force the mechanism to maintain tension on the parking brake cables. I have not done this to mine, and consequentially have not had a reliably functioning for years. For obvious reasons, this flaw in the parking brake design (especially on vehicles offered with manual transmissions puts public safety at risk. Ilderton Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Winston Salem failed this vehicle on safety inspection in 2020 as a result of this, but I did not authorize a diagnostic investigation, as I was already aware of the problem. I was able to jiggle the parking brake enough to cause it to engage enough to pass inspection. Within 1 - 2 pulls, the brake was completely unusable again. I have checked parking brake shoe to drum clearance and verified that the rear is adjusted correctly for engagement. The problem only exists in the design of the lever. No warning lamps related to the lever/integrated switch.
MY JEEP STARTED SMOKING SMELT A BADD OIL BURNING SMELL AND ALMOST CAUGHT ON FIRE WHEN I FINALLY GOT STOPPED LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND I COULD SEE OIL FLOATING ON TOP OF THE ENGINE EVERYWHERE AND GOING ALL DOWN THE BACK OF THE TRANSMISSION LOOKS LIKE A PART OR SOMETHING MAY HAVE A CRACK IN IT CAN'T REALLY TELL OIL IS ALL OVER THE UNDER CARRIAGE ALL THE WAY TO THE REAR END HAS GOT ALL OVER THE BRAKES HAD TROUBLES AND ISSUES WITH ITS SLOWING DOWN WITHOUT IT SMELLING LIKE AN OIL FIRE AND SMOKE POURING OUT OF THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY
ALL FOUR BRAKE ROTORS SEIZED UP. TRAVELING FROM WORK ON SECONDARY ROADS AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 30 AND 45 MPH. I WAS SMELLING HOT BRAKES. WHEN TRYING TO STOP THE JEEP PULLED HARD TO THE RIGHT, ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLY. WHEN I GOT HOME I TOUCHED THE WHEELS AND ALL WERE SUPER HOT TO THE TOUCH. HAD THE VEHICLE BROUGHT IN FOR REPAIR. SERVICE REPORTED ALL FOUR CALIPERS SHOW SIGNS OF BEING SEIZED UP. PADS AND ROTORS SHOW DAMAGE FROM OVERHEATING. NEEDED TO REPLACE ALL FOUR ROTORS, CALIPERS AND PADS.
IN ORDER FOR EMERGENCY BRAKE TO ACTUALLY WORK IT HAS TO BE PULLED UPWARDS WITH GREATER FORCE THAN SHOULD BE REASONABLY EXPECTED. THIS PRESENTS THE LIKELIHOOD OF THE VEHICLE ROLLING WHEN PARKED ON AN INCLINE, PARTICULARLY FOR THOSE WITH STANDARD TRANSMISSIONS.
WHEN I'M DRIVING THE JEEP, IT DOES NOT MATTER IF I GOING UP OR GOING DOWN ON A HILL AND I APPLY THE BRAKES AND STOP, THEY STAY APPLIED AND NOT RELEASED.
I PARKED THE JEEP, SET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN GEAR, WITH ENGINE OFF. WHILE INSIDE THE BUSINESS LOBBY, THE JEEP STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARD INTO A BUSY ROADWAY. THE JEEP GAIN SPEED DUE TO THE INCLINE. AND I DESPERATELY ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE JEEP, BEFORE IT COULD ROLL-AWAY ONTO THE BUSY ROADWAY AND CAUSE INJURIES OR FATALITIES. I WAS RAN OVER BY MY JEEP ' DURING MY DESPERATE AND UNSUCCESSFULL ATTEMPT TO STOP THE ROLL-AWAY JEEP. THE JEEP STOPED, AFTER CRASHING INTO AN ELECTRICAL UTILITIES POLE AT THE CURB-SIDE. I SUFFERED SEVERE DAMAGE TO MY LEG REQUIRING IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE JEEP WAS TAKEN TO A CHRYSLER DEALER, FOR AN INSPECTION. WHILE THE JEEP WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP, CHRYSLER SENT OUT A PRIVATE CONTRACTOR TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. AS PART OF THE INSPECTION, THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) CRASH-DATA WAS RETRIEVED. I MADE SEVERAL REQUESTS TO CHRYSLER, FOR A COPY OF THE FINAL INSPECTION REPORT. AND WAS REPEATEDLY DENIED THE (ORC) DATA, RETRIEVED FROM MY JEEP WRANGLER. THE CHRYSLER DEALER HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT AXLE OF THE JEEP. THE OUT-OF-POCKET COST FOR THE REPAIR WAS $6,859.92. ALSO, I HAD THE JEEP TAKEN TO DIFFERENT JEEP-CHRYSLER DEALER, FOR A SECOND INSPECTION. AFTER PERFORMING DIAGNOSTICS, THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKES, WHILE ENGAGED ' WOULD NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE. THE E-BRAKE WAS REPLACED AT OUT-OF-POCKET COST OF $1,138.41. THE FAILURE MILEAGE, FOR THE 2013 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON WAS 46,600. THE 2011 NHTSA DATABASE POSTED CHRYSLER RECALL NO. B03ALSO, FOR JEEP WRANGLER ROLL AWAYS RESULTING FROM PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY FAILURES. HOWEVER, THE PROBEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED AND CONTINUES AFTER RECALLS. THIS IS A SERIOUS, AND VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE ' IN THAT YOU CAN SEE THESE VEHICLES TURNING INTO UN-GUIDED MISSLES. AND DOING DAMAGE TO PEOPLE AND PROPERTY, AS A RESULT OF PARKING BRAKE FAILURES.
2013 JEEP WRANGLER. CONSUMER WRITES WITH CONCERNS TO DEFECTS WITH THE FRONT BRAKES, REAR BRAKES AND HAND BRAKE SYSTEM. *AS *JS
FRONT BRAKES ARE STICKING. AFTER I STOP AND PROCEED TO GO THE BRAKES DON'T RELEASE COMPLETELY. IT FEELS LIKE IT IS DRAGGING AND MY BRAKE PAD WERE BURNING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKES WOULD SQUEAL AND EMIT A BURNING ODOR. IN ADDITION, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PARK, THE BRAKES WOULD EMIT A SQUEAL NOISE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE GLENDALE CHRYSLER DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE'S CALIBER, ROUTER, AND REAR BRAKES FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 31801254 AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM: ABS SYSTEM LOCKS WHEELS AND RELEASES THEM EVERY TIME I TRY TO MAKE A TURN WHILE IN MOTION.
THERE IS A LOUD SQUEAL FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHILE BRAKING, ESPECIALLY IN COLDER CONDITIONS OR WHEN BRAKING HARDER. IT HAPPENS AT SLOW OR HIGH SPEEDS.
EMERGENCY BRAKE DOES NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE CAUSING ROLL BACK WHEN PARKED. THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACK IN MY DRIVEWAY RUNNING INTO A TREE AND FENCE AT SLOW SPEED.
I HAVE 24,000 MILES AND NOTICED GRINDING COMING FROM MY PASSENGER REAR WHEEL. I WENT TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE CALIPER IS PARTIALLY FROZE AND NEEDED A NEW ONE. IT ALSO RUINED MY BRAKE AND ROTOR ON THAT SIDE. THEY ALSO RECOMMENDED TO NOT INSTALL ONE SIDE BUT TO MAKE BOTH MATCH. DUE TO A FAULTY CALIPER I AM OUT $500. THE AUTO MECHANIC SAID HE HAS ODDLY SEEN THIS ON RELATIVELY NEW JEEP WRANGLERS TOO FREQUENT. I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND OUT FROM JEEP FORUMS THAT THIS IS HAPPENING OFTEN. I'M NOT TOO SURE ON HOW THE RECALL PROCESS WORKS... BUT I WOULDN'T MIND TRYING TO RECOVER SOME/ALL OF MY COSTS DUE TO FAULTY OEM EQUIPMENT.
PARKING/EMERGENCY BRAKE DOES NOT WORK. I AM IN A FEW JEEP CLUBS AND ALL JEEP WRANGLERS, 2007-PRESENT HAVE MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE PARKING/EMERGENCY BRAKE NOT HOLDING. MOST PEOPLE DO NOT CARE AS WE DRIVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND ITS REALLY NOT NEEDED. MY JEEP HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER OVER 4 TIMES WITH THEM UNABLE TO FIX IT. IT IS A BAD DESIGN THAT IS PRONE TO FAILURE
THE PARKING BRAKE FAILS TO HOLD THE VEHICLE UNLESS PULLED TO IT'S VERY MAXIMUM POINT AND EVEN THEN THE HOLD IS NOT STRONG. BRAKE HAS BEEN ADJUSTED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE ISSUE STILL PERSISTS.
BRAKE BOOSTER MADE EXCESSIVE NOISE. DEALER REPLACED IN SEPTEMBER 2013. PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAD OVER 3 OTHERS FOR SAME ISSUE ON ORDER AT DEALERSHIP. JUST HAD SAME BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED AGAIN FOR SAME COMPLAINT SEPTEMBER 2015.
PARKING BRAKE ON MANUAL TRANSMISSION WITH 29" WHEELS WILL NOT HOLD JEEP ON INCLINE. HAVE TRIED ADJUSTMENTS AND UNABLE TO GET PARKING BRAKE TO WORK. SEEMS TO BE A BAD DESIGN. *TR
2013 JEEP WRANGLER WITH 15K MILES, MANUAL TRANSMISSION, VEHICLE PARKED IN GARAGE WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED, (HANDLE PULLED UP 4 CLICKS). VEHICLE STARTED AND PLACED IN NEUTRAL, ALLOWED ENGINE TO RUN AND EXITED FOR A BRIEF MOMENT, RETURNED TO FIND IT ROLLING OUT OF THE GARAGE AND DOWN MY FRONT DRIVEWAY, CRASHING INTO A CULVERT IN MY FRONT LAWN. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND VERY DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW WITH THE PARKING BRAKE BY CHRYSLER. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 30 + YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE NOT HOLD WITH THE E-BRAKE ENGAGED, (MAYBE WEAK BUT WILL ALWAYS HOLD ON BASICALLY A FLAT SURFACE SUCH AS A GARAGE). THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A KNOWN ISSUE, THERE ARE MANY FORUMS DISCUSSING IT. I HAVE ACQUAINTANCES WITH NEW 2011-2014 JEEP WRANGLERS WITH THE SAME PARKING BRAKE NOT HOLDING ISSUE. I FEEL THAT IT IS IMPORTANT THAT PEOPLE ARE MADE AWARE OF THIS DESIGN FLAW BY CHRYSLER. DEALER CONTACTED, THEY INSPECTED AND STATED ?PARKING-BRAKE WORKING?, THEY WOULD ADJUST BUT NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY (OVER 12K MILES). THE PARKING BRAKE HAS BEEN ADJUSTED, BUT I ALWAYS USE A CHOCK BLOCK ON THE WHEEL WHEN PARKED. I DO NOT TRUST THE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY ON THIS JEEP AND FEEL THERE IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW. WITH A STANDARD TRANSMISSION THE PARKING BRAKE HAS TO BE RELIED UPON TO HOLD THE VEHICLE, THIS FLAW INHIBITS SAFELY LEAVING THE VEHICLE WHILE IT IS RUNNING. *TR
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000.
THERE HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH MY EMERGENCY BRAKE SINCE MY JEEP WAS NEW. IT DOES NOT HOLD ADEQUATELY, AND MUST BE PULLED EXTREMELY TIGHT TO EVEN ENGAGE AT ALL. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT "THAT'S JUST HOW THEY ARE." I DON'T BELIEVE THIS FOR ONE MINUTE, AND IN FACT FIND IT INSULTING THAT CHRYSLER EXPECTS CONSUMERS TO BELIEVE THIS. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE WHERE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WON'T HOLD IT. I HAVE FRIENDS WHO DRIVE WRANGLERS TOO AND THEY ALL SAY THE SAME THING. DESIGN FLAW? THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING A MANUAL AND WOULD LOVE A FUNCTIONING EMERGENCY BRAKE. *TR
SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW WHILE APPLYING THE PARKING BRAKE IT SEEMS AS THOUGH YOU HIT A VOID OR THAT IT SLIPS OVER LIKE THERE IS A STRIPPED GEAR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD "THEY ALL DO THAT, ITS NOT UNCOMMON AND NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT" BUT I HAVE RECENTLY NOTICED THAT IF IT STOPS ON THE VOID THE PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE IN PLACE AND IT ROLLS. I AM WANTING TO TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE BUT NOT SURE IF THIS IS A GOOD IDEA RIGHT NOW UNTIL I HAVE A COMPLAINT FILED AND HAVE IT CHECK OUT BY ANOTHER SOURCE AS I AM WORRIED THAT I WILL GET THE SAME ANSWER. I KNOW CHRYSLER ISSUED RECALL FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. I WANT EVERYONE THAT HAS THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE TO BE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM SINCE "ITS COMMON AND THEY ALL DO IT". *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN VIBRATING ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE EXHIBITED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A BOLT MISSING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE BRAKE CALIPER. THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE CALIPER BRACKET, ROTOR AND SIDE WHEEL WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 312.
