Your electronic power steering system failed while driving at 55 mph, making the steering wheel very difficult to turn. You noticed multiple warning lights on the dashboard at the same time. After inspection, you found water and corrosion inside the steering control unit, which appeared to have started after your water pump began leaking. The repair will likely involve replacing the corroded electronic steering control module and addressing any water intrusion into the system.

Your water pump is leaking coolant onto the electric power steering system located directly below it, which has caused your power steering to stop working. The wet electrical connections need to be replaced or repaired to restore steering function. This will likely involve replacing the water pump and inspecting or replacing the power steering control module.

Power steering would not work. Luckily I was pulling into my own driveway when this happened. The car was brought to the nearest Jeep dealership which I was then told they could do nothing about and no problem was visible on the computer or when they drove the vehicle. The vehicle was returned to me with no resolution.

I went to start my car and pull out of a parking lot when the power steering would not turn on. I tried starting and stopping the engine multiple times. I eventually left the car and returned later for it where the power steering was back on and fully functioning. I had a friend drive me and the vehicle to my house to be towed to a jeep dealership the following day. The power steering went out and back on two more times during that 10 min drive. Jeep service received the vehicle the next day and said they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle and reset the computer. I was told to come pick up my car as there was nothing more they could do.

The electrical system of this vehicle is causing several issues putting the safety of me, my passengers and drivers around me at risk. Starting at 6,300 miles the vehicle had a temporary loss of power steering. After parking for a day the power steering returned, leading me to believe it was caused by an electrical/software code issue. There was a safety recall for the battery pack starting on fire while parked, driving or charging. No fix was available for quite a while and I could not charge the car or park in the garage. Shortly after having the computer updated to stop it from spontaneously catching fire I have been getting a warning light saying to maintenance the hybrid system, and is accompanied with a momentary loss of propulsion. This happens without warning every 150 miles or so. The dealership said it had a ‘digital crash’ code and was not able to reproduce, but I have video evidence of the warning lamp coming on and then clearing itself. There is now a safety recall issued for this exact problem with no fix available at this time. There are no warning lamps in advance of these issues occurring, only concurrent to the issue happening. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. Past experience tells me I could lose propulsion and/or steering at any time. I need to drive to work, it is unrealistic to not drive my vehicle until a resolution is found for the current round of safety recalls. I am afraid this vehicle is going to kill someone.

The hybrid battery had the potential to catch fire and it was recalled for a software update, the 95b update. After this software update was completed, the vehicle would completely shut down, regardless of being parked or while driving. The dealership deemed the vehicle "unsafe to drive" and has provided a loaner until they can correct the problem. In addition to this, the front suspension has been worked on many times, approximately 5-6 times to remedy a clinking noise when turning at full turn. Currently, they have not been able to remedy this problem. The manufacturer has refused to do a buy back on the vehicle, yet also refuses to give the vehicle back due to, in their words; "It is unsafe to drive".

I bought this Jeep new in 2023 and it started making this noise when it had 7000 miles on it. If was normal operational noise, why didn't it have it when it was new? Many owners on Jeep forums (JeepGarage, WLJeepForum, JeepForum, WranglerForum) report: Rattle starts light and worsens with heat soak. The company often states it is a “normal operational noise. ”Some report replacement of the entire sway bar disconnect actuator assembly under warranty resolving the noise temporarily or permanently but there is no standardized procedure. After an hour drive, the loud banging noise is huge distraction while driving. I have driven for many years and have never heard anything such as this rattle trap, especially for upward of $80,000, while fearing that it may leave the road at anytime. Any suggestions would be helpful. The worst vehicle I have ever driven and I am [XXX], INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

In January work related to recall 95B was performed on the Jeep. The next day the issues started with a warning light indicating the Hybrid System needed service. The Jeep has been in repair for this issue 6 times and over 56 days with no resolution. It is currently in for repair. A buy back request was made but both FCA and the arbitrators indicate it is not a safety concern. There are safety concerns related to the Warning light as it appears to impact electrical communications in the vehicle. Repair notes indicate the communication issues. Also, power steering has stopped working and the engine has died while driving causing a rapid deceleration. Multiple users are reporting the same issues or additional impact related to the Hybrid warning light that started after 95B work.

Purchased used 22 GC summit reserve V8 and within hours of leaving dealer I knew something was very wrong with the front suspension. Fast forward to used car dealership pointing fingers at Jeep for not fixing issues not disclosed to me before the sale and Jeep claiming shady dealer practices we now know it’s the Rack and Pinion bar and components. 7 grand out of pocket after a day of ownership is not happening. My vin is one of few not showing up for the recall Z18/NHTSA 22V-154. It’s a perfect description of the recall and my jeep is the correct year make and model. The Jeep is at dealer currently and the price keeps changing which tells me someone isn’t telling the truth and they’re covering something else up. I just want this resolved as I paid mostly cash for this truck and haven’t gotten to drive it for more than a couple hours to the dealership.

I've had issues with this jeep grand cherokee 4xe randomly shutting down on the highway at speeds between 65-75 mph. The service engine and transmission lights come on and the vehicle itself dies out and will power on but will not start for about 10-15 minutes afterwards. This is the fourth time I've had the issue and the dealership can not pin point a reason/fix for the car suddenly stopping. This last time the power steering went out as well these issues have almost caused several accidents . The dealership just clears the codes after saying the can not replicate the problems I'm having and gives the car back. I've gotten to the point now after almost being rear ended trying to clear the vehicle that I no longer feel safe driving it not only for myself but the other drivers around me a car with a little over 20,000 miles should not be having these issues consistently.

The front suspension rattles and clunks constantly as if there is loose linkage or ball joints going bad. It is happening at every speed and is worse when it is hot outside. I am concerned that something is loose and will result in a loss of control. The dealer has been unable to find the source of the loud clunking noise but says everything looks ok.

I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL In order to regain control of the moving vehicle, I had to FORCE the steering wheel to turn into a Handicap space in front of me while attempting to brake at the same time. I was able to avoid the pedestrians and cars around me as well as the parked car next to me, without causing any damage to myself or those in the vicinity. If I was traveling on the Freeway, loading onto my local Ferry or driving on a major Highway or Freeway onramp, my life and the life of those around me would have been in serious jeopardy because I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL of the Jeep. Jeep FCA arranged to tow the car to the JEEP Dealer who INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, downloaded the computer data, examined the Report, CONFIRMED the multiple PROBLEMS and repaired the vehicle with a detailed description of the problems they encountered. Prior to the complete FAILURE of the 4xe, there were NO warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms or ANY indication of any kind of the impending crisis and near disaster. So far, there have been a total of FOUR RECALLS. Two have been addressed, with the third to be serviced tomorrow and the fourth without parts avaible to keep the wheels from falling off. On [XXX], on [XXX] Express Lanes (XXX) at approximately 55mph, I drove over an uneven portion of the highway being maintained/bumpy (far left lane). My vehicle intermittently pulled to the left while I attempted to steer right. I believed the problem to be associated with my steering/wheel components. After contacting the Farrish Jeep Dealer, 9610 Fairfax Blvd, Fairfax, VA 22031, I was told a recall (XXX) related to an upper control arm pinch bolt being likely why my steering might be affected. An appointment was scheduled for [XXX]. The issue happened intermittently but inconsistently up to the appointment date. During the [XXX], the Farrish dealer indicated the issue could not be duplicated. And I was required to pick up the Jeep. I subsequently called FCA USA, LLC (1 (800) 334-9200) indicating my concern driving the vehicle with intermittent issues that could result in a crash. I also requested to maintain the Loaner car that was issued during my service with Farrish Jeep; but no response/action was issued or received due to a required management call. It is March 10th, and I have not received the call. The vehicle is not safe to drive based on my recent experience and is available for inspection. And if there is any small chance that the current recall is affected by uneven terrain or bumps at high speeds; then I it can be catastrophic for my and my child’s health. Thus, I humbly request to return this vehicle with a full return toward another purchase that is safe for my family and I. My car now has 2 open recalls associated with it (for a grand total of 5 overall) - and it only has 9,580 miles on it. The latest recall, 24V-132, does not have a remedy yet available. Jeep indicates the earliest they will be able to fix my car is April 8, 2024. I have told them numerous times I feel it is unsafe to drive. They are not giving me a loaner. They are not giving me a rental. I am stuck until "someone from the recall division calls" me back. Even though it's a rist of the wheels falling off, which can cause a wreck with no warning! Recall 24V-11 was enacted on 2/15/24. My defrost system doesn't work well ...

Vehicle completely shut off while driving down highway. Completely lost steering response and breaking response. There was absolutely no way to control the Vehicle. My daughter and I both thought we were going to crash and die. We live in Alaska and it's winter time so the road conditions aren't the best. It took about 10 to 15 seconds and everything came back on and started working again. I drove my vehicle straight to the dealership I bought it from and have demanded a buyback process. I haven't had it a year and even the hybrid heating coolant system has had to be replaced twice.

The ignition was fully turned on and after shifting into reverse, there was no power steering which required extra effort to turn the steering wheel. The power steering was out for approximately 20 minutes. After restarting the car 20 minutes later, the power steering and blind spot alert was back. A check engine light persisted. After taking to Auto Zone to read check engine light, there was no readable code. The warnings have since went away. From around 100 miles the active lane management started to fail. After few visits to dealer and attempts to calibrate front cam, problem persists, so Chrysler didn’t know how to fix it. After a month waiting for a “tool” to fix it, power steering disconnect. Car back to dealer to avoid a safety accident. After a month i was advised that both failures were cause by a damage rack and pinion that needs to be replaced and test to see if that’s the reason for the failure as explained by the service advisor from Autocentro Chrysler at Caguas Puerto Rico. Iam still waiting.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the message "power steering unavailable, service required" had suddenly displayed and the power steering malfunctioned causing the steering wheel to become difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who replaced the steering rack and pinion. After retrieving the vehicle the contact was driving approximately 25 MPH when the same steering malfunction occurred causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a tree. During the incident, the braking system had also malfunctioned and the brake pedal was hard to depress and the vehicle did not stop before crashing into a tree. The driver sustained a headache and back and should pains. The front seat passenger sustained back and neck pains. The cause of the failures was not yet determined. No police report was taken. The vehicle was towed away. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 2,700.

I was driving down the road doing about 35 mph and suddenly I lost power steering and car jerked to the right. Power steering light, forward collision control, lane assistance, traction control and blind spot warning lights all came on, and a message appeared on my dashboard to have them all serviced. I took my jeep to the dealership I purchased it at in April and they are inspecting the cause of the problem. Upon starting the vehicle a steering wheel icon popped up on the dashboard warning “power steering unavailable, service required.” This was the first time I had seen this message in the 3 weeks since taking the vehicle home from the dealer. I then turned the ignition on and off a few times, but the warning persisted. When trying to maneuver the vehicle the steering was very hard, proving this was not just a false alarm. Not being able to properly steer the vehicle was an obvious risk to myself and family, especially if it was to suddenly happen while driving. Because of this I promptly called the dealership tow service to bring it into the service department. It is now 6 days later and the dealer has not had a chance to look at it yet, or confirm anything about the issue with me. From my own research I have seen numerous complaints of the same issue starting from the 2021 grand Cherokee L and with the new platform 2022 grand Cherokee 2 row and L models. Although this seems to be a widely known issue no recalls have been made.

Secondly the power steering just randomly stopped working, the dealer states its the LOJACK, removed the LOJACK and now I have paid for a feature, that I no longer have, and just waiting for the next time the steering goes out, because there is no proof this is the problem. I returned my 2021 Grand Cherokee L and was able to retrieve the difference, and pay the difference for the 2022, assuming they had resolved the electrical problems, before producing another year. We are, or should I say we were JEEP people. My husband has a 2001 Jeep Wrangler. I have had a Jeep Cherokee, multiple Grand Cherokees and now two Grand Cherokee L....
