The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump relay was faulty. The fuel pump relay was replaced but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer who replaced the fuel pump, and the vehicle was repaired. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local service center who diagnosed the vehicle with power train failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 130,000.

Fuel System failure. Decelerating to a stop or turn and vehicle stalls out. Already had the recalls processed which took months of being on a list. PCM then fails. and because of chip shortage in 2022, couldnt get the car repaired. Finally get the part in and mechanic installs it only to find out the fan, because it sat so long failed too. So after 3 fans (this vehicle takes a special fan) we finally got the right one (mechanic) and he installed it. Got car back and we had another stall out after 4 days of having the car returned. Called Chrysler Recall and escalated to a technician. The stall happens when you are actively driving it.

I received notice of the V62 Fuel Pump Relay recall more than a year ago. It sounds like this is a serious safety issue, especially since I do much hwy. driving, & the Jeep could stall at any time. The local dealership, Brubaker @ 1020 Lititz Ave, Lancaster PA 17602 continues to tell me they can't get the part. Can you help me resolve this serious safety issue ?

WHEN I TRIED TO BRING THE JEEP TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO HAVE IT REPAIRED THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART, IT HAD NOT BEEN MADE AVAILABLE TO THEM. MY CAR HAS REGULARLY BEEN STALLING WHILING I'M DRIVING IN TRAFFIC FOR WELL OVER A YEAR. I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH FCA SEVERAL TIMES TELLING THEM OF THE RISK I AM IN ON A DAILY BASIS AND ASKING ABOUT WHEN PARTS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE FOR THIS RECALL. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR SINCE THE RECALL HAS COME OUT WITH NO PROGRESS. THE STALLING HAS ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AND HAS PUT ME IN HARMS WAY EVERY TIME I DRIVE; I AM CONSTANTLY MANEUVERING TO AVOID A COLLISION AND THE ONLY REASON AN ACCIDENT HASN'T HAPPENED YET IS BECAUSE OF HOW OVER DEFENSIVE I HAVE TO BE WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. FCA EVEN TRIED DOING A TEMPORARY FIX BUT THE CAR STALLED WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THIS ATTEMPT. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND OTHERS WHENEVER I'M OPERATING THIS VEHICLE. COULD NOT GET IT OFF THE ROAD DUE TO CONSTRUCTION. HAD TO LEAVE IT IN THE ROAD UNTIL FLAT BED SHOWED UP. ENGINE BEGAN TO SHUTTER THEN STOPPED. WOULD NOT RE-START AT ALL. SOMETIMES WOULD START LIKE IT WAS ONLY RUNNING ON 1 OR 2 CYLINDERS BUT THEN WOULD NOT CUT OFF ALL OF THIS HAPPENED DURING 5 O"CLOCK TRAFFIC.FILLED A COMPLAINT EARLIER ON THIS VEHICLE ABOUT STARTING ISSUES EXACTLY LIKE THIS. THE RECALL ON THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED BY JEEP BEEN WAY TO LONG FOR THEM TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. IT IS AT THE DEALER AND I ASSUME IT WILL COST ME A PRETTY PENNY BY THE TIME IT IS DONE. THEY SEEM TO ALWAYS FIND A WAY TO GENERATE A BILL EVEN ON A RECALL. I AM SO TIRED OF DEALING WITH JEEP. THIS OEM SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LET THIS GO THIS LONG. I WORK FOR VOLVO ANOTHER OEM COMPANY AND WHEN WE HAVE A MQR (QUALITY ISSUE) IT IS THE TOP OF THE LIST TO BE RESOLVED AND DELIVERED TO THE CUSTOMER. THE SO CALLED FIRST RECALL PLACING AN EXTERNAL FUEL RELAY HAS BEEN DONE DID NOT FIX ANYTHING. THIS VEHICLE IS A HAZARD IN MANY WAYS. IF IT FAILS IN A BAD LOCATION IT COULD LEAD TO LOS OF LIFE OR INJURY. ALSO IF THE NEED TO START THE VEHICLE AT A MOMENTS NOTICE IS NEEDED, IT WOULD BE AN ISSUE IN MOST CASES. I FIND IT UNACCEPTABLE THAT JEEP HAS NOT REPAIRED THIS ISSUE. WILL IT TAKE LOSE OF LIFE OR INJURY TO FORCE THEM TO REPAIR THE ISSUE??? ON 4/10/2020 I WAS IDLING IN GEAR IN A FAST FOOD DRIVE-THRU LANE. I COULD HEAR AND FEEL THE ENGINE START TO SPUTTER. I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND TRIED APPLYING GAS TO KEEP THE ENGINE AT A HIGHER REV. AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE THE ENGINE STOPPED. I TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START BUT ALL IT DID WAS TO HAVE AN EXTENDED CRANK TIME WITHOUT IT STARTING. I WAS ABLE TO GET SOME HELP TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE WAY OF OTHER VEHICLES. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF SITTING I WAS ABLE TO START IT AND DRIVE IT HOME. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES OF THIS ISSUE. THE LAST TIME WAS WHILE I WAS ENTERING AND TURNING IN A BUSY INTERSECTION. ANOTHER TIME WAS WHILE I WAS 25 MILES DOWN A DIRT ROAD. NHTSA: REQUEST #254540 COMPLAINT (TRACKING NUMBER) ID: 11 29 23 50. ON OR ABOUT DECEMBER 31, 2019, I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA. ON JANUARY 2, 2020, RESPONDED THAT FIAT NEEDED TO BE GIVEN TIME TO FIND A FIX. THIS WAS CONFIRMED IN A TELEPHONE CALL WITH NHTSA ON JANUARY 3, 2020. FIAT HAS HAD OVER THREE MONTHS AND PRESUMABLY SEVERAL MORE MONTHS 'TO DEVELOP A SOLUTION' YET IT HAS NOT. MY JEEP SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY UNDRIVABLE, A WORTHLESS PIECE OF UNSAFE JUNK. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN/COME TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE WILL SPORADICALLY STALL. I HAVE A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND. IT WAS SUBJECT TO A RECALL (P54) WHICH WAS FOR A FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY. THE FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY WOULD CAUSE THE JEEP TO LOOSE ALL POWER WHICH, IN TURN, CAUSED A LOSS OF POWER TO STEERING AND BRAKING MAKING THE CARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF DRIVING WHEN THE FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILED. I HAD THE RECALL COMPLETED, BUT IN 2019 THE VERY SAME PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN. I CALLED JEEP AND THEY SAID TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED JEEP DEALER AND IF THEY VERIFIED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS FAULTY THEY WOULD PAY FOR REPAIRS. I DID THAT AND ACTUALLY CALLED JEEP WHEN TO NOTIFY WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN. THE JEEP DEALER VERIFIED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS FAULT AGAIN AND REPLACED. BUT, JEEP FAILED TO PAY AND I HAD TO. THEY HAVE NOT REFUNDED THE COST TO ME. JEEP HAS REPLACED A FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY WITH EXACTLY THE SAME THING, A FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY, EXPOSING MOTORISTS TO EXTREME DANGER. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED TO ME, THE DEALER DID HOWEVER REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY (I THINK AS PART OF SOME RECALL) BUT DID NOT INDICATE THIS WAS THE SPECIFIC REASON FOR MY CAR STALLING. THIS REPAIR SEEMED TO SOLVE THE ISSUE UNTIL 9/26/19 WHEN IT HAPPENED TWICE CONSECUTIVELY. I FEAR THIS IS RELATED TO THE COUNTLESS OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS YEAR AND MODEL. CAR DIDN'T START AS IT SHOULD HAVE AFTER PRESSING THE START BUTTON. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES THE CAR EVENTUALLY STARTED UP. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TESTED IT. IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE CAR FUEL PUMP SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY AND IT IS RELATED TO THE RECALL P54. THEY ARE NOT ABLE REPAIR THE CAR DUE TO NATIONWIDE BACKORDER OF THE PART INVOLVED. THEY ARE NOT SURE IF AND WHEN THE PART WILL BECOME AVAILABLE OR WHEN THE RECALL REPAIR ITEMS WILL BE COME AVAILABLE. THEY COULD NOT COMMENT ON THE CAR SAFETY WHILE DRIVING WITH THIS CONDITION. TALKED TO THE CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER. THE COMMENT "EVERY CAR IS ACTING DIFFERENTLY AND THEY CAN'T ADVISE IF IT SAFE TO USE THE CAR". THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V530000 (FUEL PROPULSION SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A FREEWAY AT 55 MPH WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY STALLED. THERE IS NO WARNING OTHER THAN THE RPMS HITTING 0. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH AND IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. WHEN THIS HAPPENED I LOST POWER STEERING WHILE CHANGING LANES, LUCKILY TOWARD THE BERM. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND ROLL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE CROWDED FREEWAY, TO A STOP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME MAKING SURE I KEPT AN EYE ON MY RPMS TO DETERMINE IF THE CAR HAD STALLED AGAIN. IT HAPPENED A SECOND TIME, BUT I WAS READY THAT TIME AND IN A POSITION TO GET OFF OF THE ROADWAY. THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL FOR THE FUEL PUMP RELAY, AND I DID HAVE IT FIXED AT MY OWN COST BEFORE THE RECALL CAME OUT. UNFORTUNATELY, IT WAS FIXED WITH ANOTHER FAULTY PART SINCE THE FIXED ONE HAS NOT BEEN DEVELOPED YET. I BOUGHT JEEP FOR ITS RELIABILITY, SAFETY, AND DEPENDABILITY, BUT I AM VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR AT THIS TIME. I ALSO TOW A TRAILER, THAT LUCKILY HAS NOT BEEN CONNECTED WHEN THIS HAPPENED, OR THIS WOULD BE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COMPLAINT WITH A MUCH WORSE ENDING. SINCE THERE IS NO ETA ON THE RECALL PART, I AM NOT SURE WHAT I CAN DO. I AM ALMOST TO THE POINT OF BUYING ANOTHER CAR RATHER THAN PICKING UP A RENTAL FOR AN INDEFINITE AMOUNT OF TIME. THE TIPM CONTROLS AND DISTRIBUTES POWER TO ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS OF THE VEHICLE. THEY HAD ONE IN STOCK, AND AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH ONLINE I DISCOVERED A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH MANY OTHER 2011 GRAND CHEROKEES. MANY OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS CITE FAULTY TIPM DEVICES FAILING WHILE THE CAR WAS TRAVELING IN EXCESS OF 65 MPH CAUSING THE CAR TO COME TO A SUDDEN STOP. OTHERS MENTION LIGHTS FAILING AND OTHER ELECTRICAL FAILURES. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS THAT I'VE EASILY FOUND ONLINE. BACK AT DEALER OVER 1 WEEK THE DO NOT KNOW THE PROBLEM AND STATED NO ONE ON THEIR COUNTRY WIDE DATABASE HAS THIS PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT JEEP HEADQUARTERS WANTS ALL REPORTS SENT TO THEM TO ASSIST REPAIR. I PURCHASED THIS CAR USED IN OCTOBER AND HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT MORE THEN 1 WEEK. MY 2011 JEEP GC HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING STARTING ISSUES FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS WHICH I ATTRIBUTED TO SOME FORM OF FUEL DELIVERY ISSUE. AFTER PUTTING IN A HIGHER OCTANE GAS AND FUEL CLEANER I THOUGHT I HAD REMEDIED THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, RECENTLY THE START UP ISSUE BECAME SO PREVALENT SO I HAD TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER INDICATED THE CAUSE WAS A DEFECTIVE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). AFTER PAYING FOR THE SERVICE TO REPLACE THE TIPM I WENT ONLINE TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM. IN DOING SO I DISCOVERED MULTIPLE OTHER JEEP OWNERS ARE EXPERINCING THE SAME ISSUE. BASED ON MY READING OF THE COMPLAINTS JEEP SHOULD BE HANDLING THE DEFECTIVE TIPM AS A RECALL ISSUE DUE TO INSTALLING THE FAULTY PRODUCT DURING THE PRODUCTION OF THE VEHICLES. *TR

THE FIRST 3 WEEKS I HAD THE VEHICLE THE ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON. I RETURNED TO THE LITHIA DEALERSHIP IN SANTA FE 3 TIMES TO HAVE IT CORRECTED. THEY ACCUSED ME OF FUELING THE CAR WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. I DO NOT FUEL MY CARS WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 4,000K MILES BECAUSE THE ROBOT AT THE FACTORY DID NOT SEAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID FILTER PROPERLY AND METAL FLAKES WERE FOUND IN THE TRANSMISSION OIL PAN AS A RESULT WHICH DAMAGED THE VALVE BOX. THE VEHICLE STILL ACTS ODD AT TIMES ' JERKING SLIGHTLY WHEN CHANGING GEARS. AT 45 MPH WHILE I WAS ACCELERATING TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE WOULD CHANGE GEARS BY ITSELF INTO FIRST GEAR. A YOUNG TECH HAD BEEN READING A SERVICE UPDATE BULLETIN AND KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IT REQUIRED A PATCH'FOR THE COMPUTER AND A DOWNLOAD TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I THOUGHT IT WAS A MIRACLE THAT I WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT DURING THIS TIME. I HAVE HAD SO MANY ISSUES WITH THE JEEP NOT RECOGNIZING THE KEY FOB UPON ENTRY AND OR TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE. FORGET THE EMERGENCY KEY THAT IS INSIDE THE KEY FOB IT WAS NEVER PROPERLY KEYED SO YOU COULD USE IT IN AN EMERGENCY. AT 15,000K MILES THE FRONT SWAY BAR HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN OFF-ROAD AND FOR THE SWAY BAR TO BREAK DOWN LIKE THAT IS INEXCUSABLE. SUDDEN UNEXPLAINED ACCELERATION. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HEARD A NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD WHILE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). THE TIPM REMAINED ACTIVATED AND ALLOWED THE FUEL PUMP TO REMAIN OPERATING WHEN THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO FAIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,000.

SEVERAL HOURS AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE I NOTICED A SOUND LIKE A SMALL MOTOR OR FAN COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. I TRIED EVERYTHING TO GET IT TO STOP THEN LOOKED AT THE FUSES LIST AND SINCE THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM NEAR THE FUEL PUMP I TOUCHED THE FUEL PUMP FUSE. THE SOUND STOPPED EVEN THOUGH I HAD NOT REMOVED THE FUSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO START AFTER THAT. THE DEALER HAS TOLD ME THAT JEEP HAS A PROBLEM WITH THEIR "TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE" JEEP'S CASE NUMBER [XXX] AND THAT THEY HAVE PRODUCED A WORK AROUND ELECTRONIC PATCH TO BY PASS THE INTEGRATED POWER MODULE! I BELIEVE THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE A BY PASS TO A HOT WIRED FUEL PUMP IS A FORMULA FOR A DISASTER. THERE MAY BE SOFTWARE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO CUT OFF FUEL IN AN ACCIDENT ETC IN THE COMPUTER MODULE? SINCE THE PROBLEM RESULTS IN THE FUEL PUMP CONTINUOUSLY RUNNING MANY THINGS COULD GO WRONG. THERE SEEMS TO BE THOUSANDS OF CASES ON THE INTERNET LIKE MINE. THE CAR WON'T START WHEN COLD. TO GET IT TO START, YOU HAVE TO TRY AND TRY PUSHING THE STARTER BUTTON. EVENTUALLY, IT WILL START AFTER 10-25 TIMES. I'M TOLD THIS IS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE TIPM (COMPUTER). I'M TOLD THAT EVENTUALLY THE CAR WON'T START AT ALL. I SEE THIS AS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS IF YOU CAN'T GET YOUR CAR STARTED YOU CAN GET INTO A LOT OF TROUBLE IF YOU ARE IN HARM'S WAY. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF ISSUES LIKE THIS. THE REPLACEMENT PART IS NOT EVEN AVAILABLE. CHRYSLER TOLD ME IT WOULD TAKE 3 WEEKS TO EVEN GET THE REPLACEMENT COMPUTER. THAT MEANS THAT THE CAR IS ESSENTIALLY NOT USABLE FOR AT A MINIMUM 3 WEEKS.
