CERTAIN AFTERMARKET BRAKE HYDRAULIC MASTER CYLINDERS SOLD AS REPLACEMENT BRAKE CYLINDERS FOR CERTAIN FORD, DAIMLERCHRYSLER, AND JEEP PASSENGER VEHICLES. THESE BRAKE CYLINDERS WERE SOLD UNDER THE BRAND NAMES OF NAPA, RAYBESTOS, AIMCO, AC DELCO, CARQUEST, BENDIX, AND WAGNER. ONLY PRODUCTS THAT WERE MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 27, 2005 THROUGH JANUARY 17, 2006 (DATE CODES 0529 THROUGH 0602) ARE SUBJECT TO THIS RECALL. WHEN SUBJECT TO VERY COLD TEMPERATURES, AN INTERNAL SEAL IN THE MASTER CYLINDER COULD LOSE FLEXIBILITY AND MAY CAUSE BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK.
Fix: AFFINIA (BRAKE PARTS, INC.) WILL REPLACE THE SUBJECT BRAKE HYDRAULIC MASTER CYLINDERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 20, 2006. OWNERS CAN CONTACT AFFINA GROUP CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-323-0354.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER AND MULTI-PURPOSE VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF CONNECTICUT, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, MAINE, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, OR WISCONSIN, AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. THE FRONT DISC BRAKE ROTORS CAN EXPERIENCE SEVERE CORROSION IF OPERATED FOR AN EXTENSIVE PERIOD IN THE "SALT BELT." IF THE ROTORS ARE NOT REPLACED, THE CORROSION CAN EVENTUALLY COMPROMISE THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE STAMPED STEEL CENTER HUB SECTION OF THE ROTOR.
Fix: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THESE ROTORS WITH ROTORS THAT ARE COATED WITH A CORROSION PROTECTION.

Fix: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE BRAKE BOOSTER DATE CODE AND ANY BOOSTERS WITH THE SUSPECT MANUFACTURING DATE RANGE WILL BE REPLACED.

I THINK MY JEEP IS REMOTELY BUGGED SOMEHOW, ABS LIGHT COMES ON AND MY BRAKES WORK, ABS LIGHT GOES OUT AND MY BRAKES MAKE NOISE AND PEDAL GOES DOWN FURTHER LIKE I HAVE NO BRAKES. ALSO, TEMPERATURE GAUGE IS STEADY THEN SUDDENLY IT GOES UP AND DOWN. I HAVE CHECKED FLUIDS, HAD BRAKES INSPECTED (REPLACED PADS AND FRONT ROTORS) I WENT TO POLICE SAID THEY HAD NO WAY OF TESTING FOR BUGS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE BRAKES HESITATED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE BUTTON AND SPRING POPPED OUT OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LEVER UPON APPLICATION OF THE BRAKE. IT APPEARS THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN MANY SIMILAR INCIDENTS AND POSSIBLE NHTSA INCIDENT NUMBER APPLIED FOR EARLIER MODEL YEARS. THAT NUMBER 95RV172000 WAS OBTAINED VIA INTERNET SEARCH OF JEEP OWNER WEBSITES AND COMMERCIAL AUTOMOTIVE MAGAZINE INFORMATION. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS INOPERABLE WITHOUT THE RELEASE BUTTON, HOWEVER, AT THIS TIME THE BRAKE IS IN THE RELEASED POSITION AND VEHICLE IS DRIVABLE. *TR
BRAKE LINE HOSES RUSTED THROUGH RESULTING IN NO BRAKING POWER. FORTUNATELY, NO ACCIDENT OR INJURIES OCCURRED. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THERE WAS A VIOLENT VIBRATION THROUGHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE BRAKE ROTORS WERE RUSTED.
FOR OVER A YEAR THE FRONT BRAKES HAVE SQUEAKED (A RUBBING NOISE) WHEN DRIVING (NOT DURING BRAKING, WHICH STOPS THE NOISE). DEALER CLAIMS NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. TOOK THE CAR IN TODAY TO HAVE TIRES ROTATED AN BALANCED. DEALER CLAIMS THE FRONT PADS ARE THIN AND CRUMBLING AND THAT BOTH PADS AND ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. DEALER STATES THE FRONT ROTORS ARE TOO THIN TO BE TURNED. THIS IS UNUSUAL SINCE THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED IN 2000 UNDER RECALL 00V136000. THE SUV HAS BEEN DRIVEN 90,000 MILES SINCE THEN - THE PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED - THE ROTORS HAVE NOT BEEN TURNED PREVIOUSLY. RELATED TO THE RECALL, OTHER USERS REPORT TOO HARD PADS WITH TOO SOFT ROTORS. IN ONE DRIVING STYLE THIS LEADS TO EXCESSIVE HEAT THAT WARPS THE SUB-PAR ROTORS. IN MY DRIVING STYLE THE PADS GET HOT (WHICH CAUSES THEM TO CRUMBLE EVENTUALLY), NOT HOT ENOUGH TO WARP ROTORS, BUT SUFFICIENT TO GRIND AWAY THE ROTORS LEADING TO PREMATURE FAILURE OF BOTH PARTS. IF ROTORS CAN GET SO THIN THEY CAN'T BE TURNED (HAVING NEVER BEEN TURNED), THEN THE COMBINATION OF CRUMBLY PADS MAKES FOR A DANGEROUS COMBINATION. SINCE DEALER IS AWARE OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT TOO-HARD PADS AND TOO-SOFT ROTORS FROM THESE AND ITS OTHER MAKE/MODELS... IT APPEARS THIS MISMATCHED COMBO IS INTENTIONAL. DEALER SHOULD REPLACE OR HEAVILY DISCOUNT PREMATURE FAILURE PARTS. DEALER CLAIMS ALL WEAR IS NORMAL AND 90K LIFE FOR ROTORS IS GOOD (AND PROBABLY IS STATISTICALLY IF YOU INCLUDE 15K LIFE OF RECALLED DEFECTIVE ROTORS). THE RECALL REPAIR REPLACED ONE PART OF THE DEFECT COMBO WITH ANOTHER DEFECTIVE PART, JUST LESS PRONE TO RAPID FAILURE IF DRIVEN EASY, I.E. IT FAILS PREMATURE TO NORMAL LIFE OF SIMILAR PARTS ACROSS INDUSTRY. I ELECTED TO WAIT ON REPLACING PARTS UNTIL I COULD GATHER MORE INFO. I CAME ACROSS OTHER REPORTS AND COMPLAINTS FOR CHRYSLER WITH THE PAD/ROTOR COMBO. *NM
THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPEN AROUND NOV OF 2002, WHILE DRIVING ON A WET ROAD IN TAMPA, FL, SPEED ABOUT 35 MPH. I WAS ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN. WHEN I APPLY MY BRAKES, THE REAR BRAKES LOCKED UP AND I SLID THROUGH THE STOP SIGN, MISSING TWO CARS. THE REAR BRAKES LOCK UP AT ODD TIMES. THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND THE HOUSING HAS BEEN CLEANED, BOTH DRUMS HAVE BEEN TURNED. FLUID HAS BEEN DRAINED FROM SYSTEM AND REPLACED WITH NEW DOT 3 BRAKE FLUID. NO IMPROVEMENT, BRAKES STILL LOCK UP. *JB

AFTER ACCIDENT CONSUMER DROVE HOME BUT STILL HAD NO BRAKES, HAD TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. CONSUMER HAD MECHANIC COME TO HER HOUSE TO EXAMINE VEHICLE. MECHANIC FOUND THAT BRAKE ROTORS WHERE SEPARATED. CONSUMER DONE RESEARCH ON INTERNET TO FIND THAT THERE WAS RECALL 00V136000 ON MAKE/ MODEL AND YEAR, BUT MANUFACTURE TOLD CONSUMER THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL .. CONSUMER WAS HAVING PROBLEM FIXED BY REPLACING ROTORS. VEHICLE WAS SERVICED REGULARLY. CONSUMER BELIEVED ROTORS WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT.*AK
WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN RIGHT FRONT BRAKE HUB CAME OFF THE ROTOR. THE RESULTED IN CONSUMER LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER HAD TO CONTINUOUSLY PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL THE FRONT LEFT BRAKE STOPPED THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS, AND HUB PLATE. THIS OCCURRED DUE TO THE DEFECT DESCRIBED IN THE FRONT BRAKE ROTOR RECALL 00V136000, BUT CONSUMER DIDN'T LIVE IN THE RECALL STATES LISTED.*AK SEPARATION DUE TO CORROSION. *TC
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. CONSUMER SWIRLED IN ORDER TO AVOID A PEDESTRIAN AND ANIMAL. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT A DITCH. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A MEDICAL TECHNICIAN WAS ON DUTY FROM THE AMBULANCE, AND EXAMINED THE DRIVER, WHO WAS OKAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED, AND TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY.*AK
WHEN DRIVING ABS LIGHT CAME ON. VEHICLE LOST BRAKE POWER. WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND CAME ON IT RESET ITSELF. THIS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY. *AK
WHEN CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THE BRAKE PADS CHANGED HE FOUND THAT THE BOLTS ON EACH SIDE OF THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY WERE MISSING. *AK THE DEALER REPLACED THE MISSING BOLTS. *NM
WHEN THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. *AK THERE WAS NUMEROUS REPAIRS THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED; THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, GAS CAP(S), NEW KEYLESS REMOTE AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DID NOT WORK. RECALL# 02V053000. *SC THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THE POWER ASSIST, THE CONSUMER WAS ORIGINAL TOLD THERE WOULD BE NO CHARGE AND THEN LATER WAS TOLD THE CHARGE WOULD BE $400.00. *JB
PARKING BRAKE BUTTON POPPED OFF WITH SPRING AS DRIVER WAS TRYING TO ENGAGE PARKING BRAKE. PARKING BRAKE WILL NOT ENGAGE NOW.*AK
ALL FOUR BRAKE ROTORS WORE OUT. DEALERSHIPS REPLACED THE ROTORS TWICE, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. ALSO, VEHICLE EXPERIENCED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. *AK
THE EMERGENCY BRAKE RELEASE BUTTON POPPED OUT WHEN APPLIED. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR ANALYSIS. THE MECHANIC ORDERED THE PART FOR REPLACEMENT. *NM
1998 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, VIN [XXX] RECALL NUMBER: 00V136000, DATED MAY 10, REPLACEMENT OF FRONT ROTORS DUE TO POSSIBLE CORROSIVE DAMAGE -TOOK JEEP TO TYSON'S JEEP, INC. ON OCTOBER 5, 2000, ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE BRAKES SQUEAKING. NO MENTION OF THE RECALL. BRAKE PADS REPLACED AND FRONT ROTORS REFACED (MILEAGE = 40,893) -TOOK JEEP BACK ON NOVEMBER 29, 2000, ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE BRAKES AGAIN STILL SQUEAKING. ALSO ASKED ABOUT THE RECALL. NOT ABLE TO RECREATE THE SQUEAK. WE WERE TOLD THAT WE WERE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL AND THAT ALL BRAKES SQUEAK. WE WERE ALSO TOLD THAT JEEP HAD DONE RESEARCH ON THESE BRAKES AND DETERMINED THAT DIFFERENT DRIVERS GET DIFFERENT RESULTS AND THAT WE MUST HANDLE OUR VEHICLE HARSHLY. (MILEAGE = 44,007) - TOOK JEEP BACK ON MARCH 13, 2002, ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE BRAKES AGAIN THERE IS EVEN MORE NOISE AND NOW IT SOUNDS LIKE PAPER IS STUCK BETWEEN THE BRAKES. THIS TIME REAR BRAKE PADS REPLACED, REAR ROTORS TURNED AT A COST TO US OF (MILEAGE = 56,780) - TOOK JEEP BACK ON MARCH 11, 2003, ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE BRAKES AGAIN SQUEAKING YET AGAIN. TOLD THAT THEY CHECKED THE BRAKES, COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM(MILEAGE = 69,532) - TOOK JEEP BACK ON SEPTEMBER 4, 2003 FOR THE 75,000 MILE CHECK UP. WE DID NOT ASK THEM TO CHECK ON THE BRAKES THIS TIME EVEN WHEN I HEAR SOMETHING AND ASK THEM TO CHECK THEY NEVER FIND A PROBLEM. [XXX] CALLED TO TELL US THAT OUR FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE CORRODED AND RUSTING AND NEEDING REPLACEMENT. WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE RECALL, HE SAID THAT OUR ROTORS HAD BEEN REPLACED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RECALL ON JULY 14, 2000. WHEN INFORMED THAT WE HAD BEEN TOLD THAT WE WERE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL AND THE FRONT ROTORS HAD BEEN TURNED ON OCTOBER 5, 2000, LESS THAN 3 MONTHS LATER, HE STATED THAT HE DID NOT KNOW AND HE DID NOT WORK AT TYSON'S JEEP THEN, BUT THE RECORDS SHOWED THAT WE HAD THE RECALL REPLACEMENT ON JULY 14, 2000. THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT AND ACCELERATE PROPERLY, THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*JB THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD, AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, ALL THE GAUGES ILLUMINATED, THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ADJUSTED, AND THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED.*TS *JB
I PURCHASED A 1998 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN JULY 2002 WITH 30000 MILES WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAVE TWO PROBLEMS TO REPORT. PROBLEM 1-- MY JEEP ONLY HAS 44000 MILES ON IT NOW AND MY BRAKE ROTORS ARE WARPED. PROBLEM 2--THIS MAY SOUND FUNNY BUT ITS TRUE. THE 1998 JEEP GRAND I HAVE HAS ITS SPARE TIRE INSIDE COMPARTMENT ABOVE FUEL TANK. THIS PAST WINTER I TRIED TO REMOVE MY SPARE AND FOUND THAT DUE TO CONDENSATION IT WAS FROZEN TO THE COMPARTMENT. ALTHOUGH I DID NOT NEED IT AT THAT TIME I THOUGHT THAT WAS STRANGE. WELL IT JUST SO HAPPENS I HAD TO USE MY SPARE TIRE ON 5/16/03, WHEN I REMOVED THE SPARE FROM THE COMPARTMENT THERE WAS ABOUT 1 GALLON OF WATER SITTING AROUND THE SPARE. I HAVE NO LEAKS AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT OR WHAT CAN I DO TO GET RID OF THE CONDENSATION BUILD UP. *JB
BRAKES FAILED AT 20 MPH. REAR-ENDED VOLVO STATION WAGON. WAS TOLD BY MECHANIC THAT I NEEDED BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED. CHEROKEE HAD LESS THAN 14,000 MILES ON IT. FIVE MONTHS LATER JEEP RECALLED ROTORS. BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE ORIGINAL OEM PARTS (IE. ROTORS) THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST ME IN DISPUTING INSURANCE RATE INCREASE OR COST OF ROTOR/BRAKE REPLACEMENTS. ***NOTE*** JEEP IS ON THIRD SET OF ROTORS AND IS IN NEED OF YET ANOTHER AS THESE ARE WARPED. AND JEEP IS NOT AT THE 100,000 MILE MARK YET! *NLM
I HAD MY FRONT BRAKE ROTORS REPLACED AT 67,220 MILES - AT THAT TIME THE FRONT BRAKES WERE SHOT, YET THE REAR BRAKES HAD 50% LIFE REMAINING (APPEARS TO BE UNDUE PRESSURE PLACED ON FRONT BRAKES. AFTER ONLY 5,000 MILES, THE VEHICLE PULSATED WHILE BRAKING. SO AT 73,091 MILES AT HAD FRONT BRAKES RESURFACED, AT WHICH TIME THE MECHANIC ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE BRAKES WERE ALREADY SHOWING SIGNS OF OVER HEATING AND WERE ALREADY WARPED. I HAD REAR BRAKES DONE (EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD SUFFICIENT LIFE REMAINING) AT THE SAME TIME IN CASE THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THE PROBLEM. I NOW HAVE 16,000 MILES ON THE FRONT BRAKES (10,000 MILES AFTER FIRST RESURFACING), THEY AGAIN ARE PULSATING STRONGLY, AND REQUIRE UNDUE PRESSURE FROM MY FOOT TO MAKE THEM WORK APPROPRIATELY....ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY. I CONSIDER THIS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND AS A RESULT OF THE ENGINEERING AND/OR MANUFACTURING OF THE BRAKES. *JB
AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON THE PARKING BRAKE, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. *NLM
1. FUEL INJECTOR FAILED CAUSING THE ENGINE TO MISFIRE AND OPERATE ON ONLY 5 OUT OF 6 CYLINDERS. 2. IN THE SAME CYLINDER (#6) ROD BROKE, CAUSING ENGINE TO BLOW AND NEED REPLACEMENT AT ONLY 42,000 MILES. 3. POWER STEERING PUMP ALMOST FELL OFF THE VEHICLE. (MOST LIKELY DUE TO IMPROPER INSTALLATION AFTER ENGINE REBUILD). 4. BRAKES CONSTANTLY SQUEAK OR MAKE GRINDING NOISE WHEN PRESSURE IS APPLIED. WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE BELOW 50 DEGREES, A HIGH PITCHED WHINNING NOISE IS HEARD FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. CAN ONLY BE HEARD WHEN TRAVELING UNDER 45 MPH - DUE TO ROAD NOISE MASKING THE SOUND. (MULTIPLE DEALERS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS NOR BE ABLE TO FIX IT, SO CONSTANTLY WHINES). 5. FUEL GAUGE FLUCTUATES WHEN 3/4 FULL (DROPS TO EMPTY AND FUEL LIGHT TURNS ON, THEN RETURNS TO NORMAL READING. WILL CONTINUE TO DO THIS UNTIL TANK IS 1/4 FULL). TOLD THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SENSOR. 6. TRANSMISSION IS OCCASIONALLY ROUGH (JERKY SHIFTING BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEARS).*JB
WHILE DEPRESSING ON THE BRAKES CONSUMER HEARD A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HAVE EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. *AK THE CONSUMER HAS THE PARTS THAT WERE REPLACED. *NM
BRAKE ROTORS CONTINUALLY WRAP. WRAPED AT 10,000, 18,000 27,000, AND NOW AGAIN AT 38,000. CHYRSLER REFUSES TO ADMIT TO A PROBLEM. FRONT ROTORS REPLACE BY RECALL AND ALSO HAVE WRAPED. SERVICE BULLITEN WAS ALSO PERFORMED FOR THIS PROBLEM AND STILL FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED.

THE ORIGINAL DISC PADS ARE STILL INUSE AND THERE WAS NO EXCESSIVE SLAMMING OF THE BRAKES OR SUDDEN STOPS INVOLVED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THIS IS DUE TO THE THINNESS OF THE BACKING ON THE ROTOR HUB, A PROBLEM SIMILIAR TO THAT FOUND ON CERTIAN FORDS IN THE PAST. THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN AT 37,000 MILES. NOW THAT THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY WILL NOT FIX IT NOW. I FILED ARBITRATION WITH CHRYSLER AND THEY REFUSE TO ADMIT THIS CAR HAS A PROBLEM. *AK

DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER STATED OTHER JEEP OWNERS WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AT 10000-15000 MILES, REOCCURRING AT EACH ADDITIONAL 10000-15000 MILES. ROTORS APPEAR TO BE OF INFERIOR DESIGN. I WANT CHRYSLER TO REDESIGN, MANUFACTURE, AND INSTALL ADEQUATE ROTORS ON MY VEHICLE AT FACTORY EXPENSE. FOR $30,000, I COULD HAVE BOUGHT A MERCEDES! PLEASE RESPOND!!!!!
WHEN BRAKING AND DRIVING OVER BUMPS BRAKES WILL BECOME TOTALLY INOPERATIVE , VEHICLE KEEPS GOING . CONSUMER MUST PUMP BRAKES OR GET TO FLAT SURFACE IN ORDER TO STOP. *AK

VEHICLE HAS HAD AN ON GOING PROBLEM SINCE THE 4TH DAY AFTER I BOUGHT IT, IT HAS A VIBRATION AT 55-65 MPH. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN BALANCED COUNTLESS TIMES, THE DRIVE SHAFT HAS BEEN REPLACED THE TRANSFERCASE HAS BEEN LOWERED, THE WHEELS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, THE TIRES WERE REPLACED, THE TRANSFER CASE HAS BEEN OVERHAULED COUNTLESS TIMES IN AT DEALER TO REPAIR AND STILL HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. ADDITIONALLY BRAKES PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED FOR A PULSATION, TRANSFER CASE OUTPUT SEAL WAS REPLACED FOR A LEAK, AND LITTLE ODDS AND ENDS. ( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P225/75/15 )

THEN REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE PADS AND CUT THE REAR DRUMS. PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION AND VIN#. *AK
THE TWO FRONT ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED DUE TO THEM BEING WARPED. THEY WERE REPLACED AT 7500 MILES APPROXIMATELY. TODAY, 12-28-98, THE TWO REAR ROTORS ARE BEING REPLACED DUE TO THEM BEING WARPED. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ACCEPTABLE THING CHRYSLER, SINCE THEY WON'T COVER THE ROTORS AFTER 12000 MILES OR TWELVE MONTHS. THE DISC BREAK SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED IF THE ROTORS KEEP WARPING IN MY OPINION. I DO NO TOWING OR SERIOUS HEAVY CITY TRAVELING. THE CAR HAS BEEN MAINLY USED ON INTERSTATE FREEWAYS.
DRIVING AT APPROXIMATLY 20 MPH ,GOING DOWN HILL , WHEN BRAKES FAILED, BECAME INOPERATIVE ,CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *AK
BRAKES MAKE A CLUNCKING NOISE WHEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, AND WHEN PRESSING ON THE BRAKES TO STOP. DEALER CONTACTED ,AND IS AWARE OF THE NOISE. REPAIR WORK TO BE DONE TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

BRAKE FLUID LEVEL DROPS BELOW ADD MARK IN RESERVOIR APPROXIMATELY EVERY 5-6 THOUSAND MILES. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM. EACH TIME THE DEALERSHIP HAS SAID THEY, CAN'T SEE ANY LEAK, AND FAILED TO PERFORM ANY FURTHER INVESTIGATION. BRAKE FLUID WAS FULL WHEN VEHICLE WAS DELIVERED NEW, HAS BEEN REFILLED TWICE (NEVER BY DEALER), AND IS CURRENTLY HALF WAY BETWEEN FULL AND ADD MARKS 8 MONTHS AFTER DELIVERY.
CONSUMER WAS EXPERIENCING ONGOING PROBLEM WITH INTERMITTENT BRAKE FAILURE WHICH WOULD LEAVE THE VEHICLE TOTALLY WITHOUT BRAKES. DEALER FINALLY LEARNED THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A FAILURE IN THE ABS SPEED SENSOR WHICH WAS OBTAINED FROM THE MANUFACTURER'S TECHNICAL DEPT. PROBLEM FIXED. *AK *ML
FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON BRAKE PEDALS ARE ENG TO REQUIRE DRIVER TO COMPLETELY LIFT FOOT FROM GAS RAISE HIGH ENOUGH TO REACH BRAKE PEDAL. IN AN EMERGENCY STOP FOOT MISSES BRAKE PEDAL OR SLIDES OFF AND HITS GAS PEDAL AS IN MY ACCIDENT. IF BRAKE PEDALS WERE LEVEL WITH GAS PEDALS THE BRAKE COULD BE APPLIED RAPIDLY AND AT LEAST REDUCE SPEED AT IMPACT IN STEAD OF REVERSE THANK YOU GARY GRAHAM

ON HOT DAYS THE FRONT BRAKES LOCK UP AND WOULD NOT RELEASE, CAUSING LININGS TO SMOKE. WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON, THE COMPRESSOR KICKS IN AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON. WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, THE FILLER PIPE MAKES A SLURPING SOUND, CAUSING THE GASOLINE TO SLUSH BACK AND FORTH IN THE GAS TANK.
