Wipers & Visibility Recalls (1)

RECALLCampaign #16V726000

VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Sonata Hybrid vehicles manufactured December 8, 2014, to August 18, 2015, and Hyundai Sonata vehicles manufactured May 28, 2014, to March 18, 2016, equipped with the panoramic sunroof option. Due to a bonding issue with the sunroof wind deflector, the sunroof panel on the affected vehicles may detach while driving.

Fix: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will repair the wind deflector anchor plate, free of charge. The recall began December 2016. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 152.

Your panoramic sunroof detached from the roof while driving on two separate occasions. The first time, you were able to partially close the cover, but the second time it wouldn't close at all—you had to hold it closed while driving as wind kept lifting it. The sunroof was removed at a collision center but not repaired or reattached properly.

Panoramic roof wind deflector tore while driving at highway speeds. Debris scattered on highway and nearly caused an accident behind our vehicle as others attempted to avoid it. We were able to close the unit while holding all of the components down in the track/housing.

I am reporting a re-failure of Safety Recall 152. The panoramic sunroof wind deflector, which was previously 'repaired' in 2017 under this recall, has failed again. The broken parts have jammed the sunroof mechanism, preventing it from closing.

This hyundai sonata came equipped with the hyundai panoramic sunroof. This sunroof when you look at you can see is misaligned. When the sunroof is in the open position the rubber molding on the drivers side fails to stay attached and when the sunroof s closed that rubber molding is sucked into the car leaving a gap between the aligning parts.
