2015 Hyundai Sonata Body & Structure Problems

While driving under normal highway conditions, the sunroof detached from the vehicle while still in the closed position. This caused extreme danger to other drivers and property and could have caused a fatality if it would have hit a motorcyclist or other unprotected person.

While driving on the highway Emmy pearl white paint began chipping on my car flying up into my field of vision which not only was distracting while driving but appeared as if it came from another vehicle even though it as from my vehicle.

I purchased my 2015 Hyundai Sonata new in Hawaii while stationed there with the military. A few years later the paint on the hood and roof started to peel as seen in the picture with the hand. On a sunday morning I had tethered my dog in the back seat to take him to the groomers. I cranked the car and realized I left something in the house. I exited the vehicle and we straight in and go the item I needed and exited my patio doors, turned around to pull blinds closed and to my amazement saw that vehicle was missing.

On july 12,2016 I was pulling into a parking spot at the bank. My foot was on the brake as I entered the space. My car then seemed to make a loud noise like the engine was revering ups it then shot forward like a rocket.

The engine failure, rod bearings failure causing the engine to lose power while driving, car not able tpo accelarate, check engine light and other lights popped on. Loud noise coming from engine sounded like worn belts, knocking noise and oil pressure loss. My daughter's safety and mine was put major risk.

On Friday, April 18, I opened my panoramic sunroof on my car. When I did, the wind deflector became detached from the sunroof mechanism. So I attempted to close the sunroof and when I did, the would not close all the way and the sunroof appeared to become off track.

My cars' dashboard started cracking after about 3 years of ownership (purchased new), which we though was weird. It is almost 10 years old now and the dashboard has cracked all over. I have taken it to the dealership for recalls and repairs and was told that it was a common problem for these cars, which I'm surprised that it has not been recalled.

I purchased a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. Two years ago, I'm having issues with my car paint peeling off in the hood, roof and trunk. Many times I when to the dealer to ask them about the recall, and they state that there is nothing they can do since they did not have anything registered for a paint peeling recall.

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the sunroof wind deflector detached from the vehicle and flew off. The local dealer where the vehicle was serviced under an unknown recall related to the failure was contacted; however, the contact was informed that the recall repair was completed in 2017 as a one-time free repair.

The panoramic sunroof wind deflector is off I seen online there was a recall about that. I call hyundai customer service about it they said it's been fix already in 2016. I'm a new owner and not sure where the work was done before I got it, but it came unglued again.

The bug guard/wind deflector has become detached (AGAIN) on my panoramic sunroof while driving on the freeway. It puts myself & passengers as well as other people driving on the freeway in danger as there is a known issue that the detached bug guard/wind deflector is what causes detaching window panels or shattered sunroof panels.

Paint peeled off hood, initially causing a distraction while driving, while it fluttered, then when departing the hood it stuck to the windshield causing a visibility issue before using the wipers to remove it. Dealer said it's a known issue with this paint color, but said the warranty period was over.

I own a 2015 2.0 limited sonata I noticed I had half a tank of gas so I went to put gas in and it only let me put $4 worth in and so the next day I tried to put more gas in and now the gas lid will not open at all, now I only have less than half in and the nearest dealership is 150 miles away.

Takata recall my husband bought the 2015 sonata on march 9, as we were driving home we vented the sunroof and next thing you know it made a loud noise and flew off the car. We immediately stopped to go back and find it and the glass was completely shattered.

Sun roof squeaking. Brought the car to dealer twice for this issue. They temporarily fix it by lubricating.

My engine hood has come open on the freeway twice in the last week. The dealer said there was nothing wrong after the first incident, then it happened again. The alarms and warning sounds that go off when this happens are so loud and distracting I lost track of my driving trying to figure out what was going on.

My 2015 hyundai sonata limited sport 2.0 has a defective glass roof. The glass panel was very loose upon delivery of vehicle and made noise 100% during driving. My local hyundai dealer had a 3rd party vendor attempt a repair.

The primary purpose of filing this report is to prevent a child from dying in a locked trunk. As I packed my rental car for a trip I stupidly locked my keys in the trunk of the car. An unlocking service came and popped my door lock but because the alarm system was on there was absolutely no access to the truck at all.

The vehicle’s sunroof just flew off the car at 31 miles per hour (the whole part), Hyundai had a safety recall for that and it was done in the past, the problem is that happened exactly what the recall were suppose to prevent, it was my wife and 2 kids on my car and I’m glad it was before she enter the highway, it would cause a major wreck with multiple vehicles.

We have a 2015 hyundai sonata with a panoramic sunroof. About 2 weeks ago we opened the sunroof and noticed the wind deflector popped up higher than normal. When we tried to close the sunroof it would not close.

In Nov 2021, the door handle on the rear driver side door came off. Today, the front driver door handle broke. This is a huge safety matter because I cannot get into my car without opening the front passenger door and crawling into the driver seat.

Trunk latch has failed and is impossible to open the trunk. The risk of not being able to change a flat tire or having someone locked in the trunk. There is a recall for same generation of Sonata but recall is not available for the 2015 model.

The Pearl White paint on the roof has started peeling. This is a known Delamination issue from Hyundai and many other owners. It is beginning to peel in larger areas each week.

I was driving with my sunroof closed and the whole thing came detached. The window shattered. And part of the piece that holds it fell off.

While driving on a secondary highway, the hood of my vehicle released and slammed into the windshield causing substantial damage to the car.

Applying the brakes at a stop requires the brake pedal to be firmly held to the floor otherwise the engine will start reviving up and move out fast if the brake is released. Also appears that the transmission when moving the shifter to park does not mean the car is in park. I did this once in a store parking lot.

Today 1/24/2019 around 12 pm arizona time my son was driving the car upon exiting the highway he heard loud pop that scared him then he heard glass shattering by the time he got home he noticed that the panoramic sunroof shattered with a big hole in the middle.

When it rains, there is water intrusion inside the doors. There is so much, that I have to manually dry it to prevent mold from building up. I cannot even keep the doors open to let it dry since the dashboard light for open door remains on when doors are open and this drains the battery.

I was parking my 2015 hyundai sonata turbo sport in a strip mall parking lot. I pulled into the space and, before getting in all the way, the car suddenly accelerated to a high speed, jumped the concrete curb and slammed into a concrete wall.

I was admitted into the hospital, where I had surgery and was told I had a hemorrhagic stroke. October 2015, I had 2 more strokes and surgeries. I never had a history of strokes, and was wondering could this be a part of an environmental issue with the chemical exposure from the new vehicle?
