2018 Honda Accord Other Problems

I have a 2018 Honda Accord Sport 1.5 The issue started after getting my fuel pump replaced as part of the recall. While driving, all of the dashboard lights came on. Warning messages kept flashing on the dash.

I have changed turbo, coil packs, fuel injectors, spark plugs, battery, fuel pump and my vehicle still give misfire in cylinder 3. Honda knows it’s a turbo and head gasket issue and will NOT do a recall on this for the vehicles. HORRIBLE company.

The sunroof spontaneously exploded while traveling at 50mph. Was not a rock. The sound was extremely distracting and could easily cause a wreck, especially if the sunroof visor was open.

I got this car April 2024. By December I went to the Honda dealer for the recall even though nothing was wrong with the car. After December, when I got the recall fast forward to February.

On 2025-06-12 at about 3:50 PM EST I triggered a remote start command from my phone via the HondaLink app to cool down the car before leaving work. When I went out to the car it had not started. I assumed the command had simply failed, so I returned home and parked in our attached 2-car garage at around 5:10 PM.

My car started misfire .. all the lights went on the dashboard .. had to get it towed ..

COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM DEFECT On May 7, 2024, AAA tow-truck driver installed compact spare tire on right rear tire due to damaged tire. Drove 10 miles to tire store & orange-colored "Low Tire Pressures" dash board indicator light appeared. 4 new tires were installed.

When turning and there is a slip in the Vehicle Stability Assist, it results in shut off and warning of multiple features, including: adaptive cruise control, hill start assist, tire pressure monitoring system, brake system, electric power steering, vehicle power steering, collision mitigation braking system, and road departure mitigation.

While driving car cut off and smoke filled inside car. This could have caused a major accident and harm to myself and others. Had to have car towed to dealership for repair that should have not have happened for this age of car.

The entire engine turned off on a few occasions, unsure if it is electrical or the engine. When coming to a light, as the car is decreasing speed, it turned off completely. At this time all the lights appeared (check engine, brake system, etc) on the dash board.

Sunroof exploded for no reason, not hit by anything or debris from road, while drive down road at 40mph. If my sunroof visor wouldn't have been closed this could have blown glass into my face and eyes while driving.

I was driving along the highway and my sunroof exploded. I immediately pulled over and saw that the sunroof had blown up from the inside as the glass edges were facing up.

So Wednesday evening my car started driving bad jerk every time I gave it gas really bad and yesterday morning I was otw to work my car started jerking not accelerating at all all kind of lights flashing acc,emissions system problem, check engine light,brakes,tire pressure monitor and antilock brakes flashed scared me to death I have read its plenty consumer stated they have had the same problems

While driving my vehicle at approximately 25 miles per hour on a cloudy day with temperatures around 55 degrees, I heard a loud bang. Apparently my sunroof exploded without any debris around. As you can imagine, this shocked me and caused a brief panic as to what had just happened.

While driving on highway bridge at highway speeds (65 MPH) the sunroof glass suddenly exploded and shattered. The interior shade was closed, so no glass entered the vehicle. There was a loud bang and then wind could be heard coming through the sunroof.

Car is driven in North east area of USA. This car stopped blowing cold air one fine day. On inspection from dealer it was assessed that Condenser was leaking.

Burning excessive gas. Every 2 days I have been filling my tank. Filled tank to half tank of gas and within less than 24 hours I am on empty.

All lights in my dash came on, brake, engine, steering, collision, acceleration. I took it in to priority honda and was told it was cracked spark plugs and it was fixed. I paid $260.

On 10/29/2020, while changing lanes, the vehicle abruptly cut the power and slammed the brakes, while flashing "brake" on the instrument panel. There were no vehicle in close proximity in the lane in to which the change was performed.

So this vehicle is extremely dangerous with the crash mitigation system turned on. Sometimes the vehicle will trigger the system with a false positive crash detection and will emergency brake for you and cut the gas so you won't be able to accelerate. However, I have had a few false positives.

Collision mitigation braking system please see dealer . That's the message the vehicle displays on the dashboard . Has appeared 3 times in 7 months .

I was accelerating from a stop at a red light and once I hit about 10-15 MPH, the collision mitigation system came on and slammed the car to a complete stop for no apparent reason. My vehicle's backup camera software has failed again despite being "fixed" once already. The vehicle was recalled in 2018 to fix defective software that caused the backup camera to not function properly. The camera's collision sensor quit working and failed to warn me of objects in my path when I was backing up.

2018 accord touring 2.0 purchased new in november (has about 11,000 miles now). I was driving 65mph on highway when car made loud clunking noise, began to smoke intensely, and shuddered to a stop and died. I was on bluetooth phone call at the time and the person on the other end heard it and asked what it was.

My vehicle was in motion at 35 MPH with no traffic ahead of me and one vehicle to the driver-side rear. I have numerous incidents where the collision mitigation braking system has gone out giving an amber dash warning to see the dealer. When this happens, the cruise control will also not function.

While driving I received error code advising that the collision mitigation system had failed and I should see a dealership for service. After stopping and turning off the vehicle the error message went away and system was showing to be functioning. 2 weeks later while driving at slow speed in my neighborhood I got the same error message.

The honda sensing system sometimes automatically slams on the brakes at highways speed when there is no vehicle in front of me, nearly causing collisions with vehicles traveling behind me.

While I was driving on a one lane road with no one else around my sunroof/ moon roof exploded/shattered. According to consumer reports () - this is a known problem in honda accords. The dealer refuses to accept the glass could have shattered on its own and says that its due to an outside influence and will not cover the car under warranty.

Serious crash control problem. I was driving on the interstate freeway in heavy traffic and a car cut in front of me. As I was trying to avoid an accident a large "brake" image appeared on my speedometer display distracting my eyes away from the road.

I was traveling at 55mph when the car lost power on the freeway. I had to make my way to the shoulder. I could only travel 10mph.

At approx 10pm, vehicle was moving at a steady speed of 70mph on urban highway on New Year's Eve. Without any indication or warning, the car stalled/had loss of power for about 1-2 seconds and recovered and then about 1-2 minutes later stalled again and recovered. No dashboard lights ever came on.

I purchased this vehicle zero miles from Brickell Honda back in 2018. I have interior entertainment issue with the car play and equipment, which I have been complaining for a long time and software update are being done only to specific model under same trim. Evaporator for AC failing. This poses a risk for drivers not having property AC in different weather and is extremely dangerous with children. Issue was found by the Honda dealership.

So about 3 months ago all the sudden all the lights on dash board came on, everyday in the morning when I turn on vehicle on and start driving it does not go over 10 MPH even after pressing gas padel all the way, then I have to shut off vehicle for some time and starts back on it start running but lights still comes on. Backup camera has purple and green distortion that makes it hard to see what’s behind the vehicle when trying to backup. This is a permanent problem that can be inspected upon request. It involves a risk to myself and others by possibly causing injury or property damage.

The paint on our 2018 Honda Accord is fading and the clear coat is no longer on the car on the areas of the hood, trunk and roof at this point. The roof is having issues with the paint peeling and rusting in all four corners. We have reached out to our Honda dealership and did not receive any help with this issue.

This is regarding TSB 21-087, Warranty Extension for 2018 Accord Paint B-757P Still Night Pearl. I was not informed in writing as per required customer notification in 2001. The extended warranty was for 7 years from date of purchase with no mileage limit.

I am the owner of a 2018 Honda accord purchased from Hillside Honda in Jamaica, NY on February of 2018. In 2021 started to experience issues with my vehicle while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked, loss motive power, switched to limp mode with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to properly accelerate while in limp mode.

I don’t know what’s going on, but I’ve taken the car to several other places to find out that the repair guys are at each and everyone as if they know that my car is going to be there is very scary is very creepy. Every last one of them works or worked for the dealership that I purchased the car and had repairs done, my car has been keyed in operable.

A/C evaporator is not reliable and is expensive repair. My car is 2018 model year and had its A/C evaporator replaced twice already (Nov 2020 and Mar 2024).

There was a persistent noise from the gas cap whenever locking or unlocking the vehicle. The Honda service shop stated that the issue was related to malfunction of the fuel door release actuator. The fuel door release actuator was replaced.

When driving and removing foot from the acceleration pedal, allowing my car to slow without hitting my brake, I have noticed a loud humming/vibration around the 40 MPH speed. It is very dangerous because it distracts my driving. I have tried powering off radio and AC/heater, rolling windows down and opening sunroof.

Transmission unable to go into reverse. Terrible vibration when shifting and abrupt deceleration. Required a new transmission.

I am leasing a 2018 Honda Accord Touring with dark blue paint. Approximately 1 year after leasing I began to notice the paint chipping off in the roof gutter rails in a few spots near the rear window. The paint chipping has begun to progressively worse and I notified the Honda dealership in Signal Hill, CA during a service visit.

Paint is peeling on the roof and the trunk. Talked to honda dealership and they submitted photos to Honda which said it was environment related. I took the car to an independent body shop who said it is a paint defect.

I've had my windshield replaced 2 times on my accord for cracks due to road debris hitting it in less than 3 years of ownership. I will have a 3rd replacement soon due to the same cracking / fragility of these windshields. These windshields are incredibly soft to the point that they pit rather easily from pebbles hitting at slow speeds.

AC compressor and clutch went out at 26k miles and was replaced on august 22 nine 2019and again at 53k miles. It was replaced by tameron honda in hoover alabama. It has been out since 53,000 miles and I have not had it replaced because I am disappointed in this part.

AC condenser leaking new type of refrigerant (1234yf) which apparently is flammable. Honda service rep says condenser was "probably" punctured by a foreign object from the road. However, honda has recognized defective condensers leaking refrigerant in 2018 civics and has extended the warranties for 10 years for these and other model years.

This is in regards to NHTSA recall 18v-629/mfr id v2f (rear camera). After being "repaired" once under this recall, the rear camera failed a second time! The service department at the dealership diagnosed it as the same problem.

This car almost killed me on highway while driving 70 miles/h it decided to tap breaks by itself(slow down) the gas pedal would not respond it was not any car in front of me.I took it to a dealer they restarted the system said everything it's fine now but did not fixed the problem the same day I had the same issue with it.I don't feel safe driving in it.

Vehicle is driven in florida and whenever it is parked outside, especially if left in the sun, there is a loud rattle/squeak from the hud area of the dash for some time after. My car has cracks in the windshield located outside of the vehicle from both sides on the wiper blades trails. It has not been hit by a rock. I noticed it on two different occasions when I was using the wipers on rainy days.

The sensor for the honda sensing system is located where it is very vulnerable to damage and it stops functioning properly when it collects even a small amount of snow. Other vehicles do not have sensors anywhere near this vulnerable. This system is promoted as adding to the safety of the vehicle, but because of the design and location on the 2018/2019 accord it is very vulnerable to failure.

Rattling / vibration coming from driver's side dash area when accelerator pedal is pressed while car is in motion. Happens after car is warmed up, and is an indication of a loose piece that could become detached and cause injury.

I was driving on the interstate on 11/21/2018 and I heard a very loud sound. I thought to myself, "what was that?" I looked up and saw my sunroof shattered and broken pieces of glass in my passenger's seat. I have no idea what caused this incident.

I was driving down a busy road in my town and no cars were in front of me and I did not lane departure at all and the car suddenly came to a complete stop almost for no reason thankfully no cars were behind me. This also happened again when I was on the freeway there was no car in front of me and the car behind me was coming up fast luckily they noticed my car braking and got over.

While talking on the phone the display auto screen went blank and after a few minutes it rebooted. On may 29th, I took it to a local dealership and they couldn't find a problem. Soon as I left the dealership it happened again.

Bought this car on march 30,2018 new at great lakes honda in akron , ohio. As soon as I drove home , I noticed that the engine accelerate . Did not feel safe.

The traffic sign recognition doesn't always display the correct speed. It has displayed 100mph in a 65 on I-40 going from north little rock, ar. I do have a pic of it.

The brakes are very touchy. Feels like rear brake bias is very strong. Braking smoothly is impossible.

Whenever I put the car in gear and start driving forward a liability notice comes up on the large display screen asking me to read it and push ok - signifying that I read the message and certifying that I will be a safe driver (while driving). I wanted to report that this vehicle, according to Carfax, had 169,236 miles on August 15, 2025, and 9/4/25, and 85,326 miles on January 24, 2026. That's only 4 months! The odometer was tampered with, and this seller knew it was altered because it went through 5 different sellers in those 4 months.

I had a coolant link problem they couldn't find or fix even after taking it in over 4 times ,how I have a blown head gasket ,also different components in my AC keep going out have had to fix 3 times in the last 3 years, both these are know issues for this year honda

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) This has been ongoing since I had the car and have taken to dear ship several times and they say it to happen, so they get the messages and the messages are there.

Paint at the center top of the vehicles roof is slowly starting to fade and chip away. I've always hand washed my car since I bought the vehicle in 2019. Noticed the paint at the top of the roof has been the only area where this is happening.

Hi I just drive my car for about an 1hr and start losing power and a white smoke coming out the muffle I think the head gasket bad.

My vehicle registration renewal notified a recall on the vehicle by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The lettering of the gear shift and signal light/ wiper switches run off easily making it hard to see in dark places and at night. Bring that those switches are the most crucial when operating the vehicle the white lettering should be sustainable and durable making the visibility great whether driving during the day or night.

My vehicle has 101,000 miles and the head gasket has failed and I could provide the vehicle for inspection upon request. The problem has been confirmed by a Honda Master Mechanic that the head gasket has failed. The failure of the gasket caused the vehicle to cut power of the vehicle while driving on the freeway.

Rear backup camera color distortion. Unable to see clearly to back up. I understand that there was a recall for defective cameras for some 2018 Accords but my VIN number isn’t one of them.

The paint is chipping in different parts of the car. About 1 1/2 years ago they had to repaint the roof because of the chipping. The chipping is starting again on the sides underneath the hood and in the rear by the left side window.

A/C not working

AC is NOT working and it is a SAFETY ISSUE as drivers can have HEAT STROKE and other heat medical issues especially with medical conditions like me. This is the car I am driving to for everything. I saw a lot of complaints online with the same AC issues related to Honda even under 50K miles only.

I was driving on the highway at about 45 MPH when the car suddenly came to a stop without my touching the brake ( It wasn't as if the brakes were slammed on: the stop was relatively smooth but quick}. When I tried to use the accelerator to speed up, there was no response. I was unable to pull off the highway.

The locking mechanism has been malfunctioning. The key fob does not open the driver door and the internal button in the vehicle works sporadically. Opening this door requires a key.

Our air conditioner stopped working in 2021 and the car is a 2018. I received a recall notice about the air conditioning but cannot find the letter anymore. The car will blow warm air even when the air contrition in on high.

The screen frequently pops up the warning of tires, ABS and other issues on the upper right corner. After inspection, everything is fine. It suspected as bugs for the system, but really misleading and impacted on the safety of the driving.

TPMS low tire pressure warning comes on about every 2 days. Each time every tire is the exact same pressure and not low. TPMS is recalibrated, 2 days later it comes on again.

The car stutters or stammers when you press the accelerator/gas pedal at times, it does not do it at all times. It is dangerous. It was stationary at a stop light, or pullling off from a stopped position.
