2018 Honda Accord Cruise Control Problems

My fiance has a 2018 Honda Accord Sport Touring, this past Sunday he was giving me a ride and about 5 min of driving , after stopping for a red light , the light turned green he pushed the pedal and the car starting moving then all of a sudden warning lights were flashing , the engine light , remote not in car, oil light, air bag , low tire, etc.

I was slowing down to pull into a parking spot at my office and suddenly the car accelerated, jumped the concrete barrier and crashed into the brick wall.

I never was informed about the fuel pump recall , all the lights on my car came on , acceleration was slower , car was jerking , and when taking it to Honda they stated 2 of my cylinders has a misfire and water or coolant leaked and blew my head gasket , the car never ran hot and the guy asked did any light come on and I told him for some old reason every light on the dash was on and the car is vibrating while even in park reverse and when it's moving .

Everyday the vehicles struggles to pick up on speed and stalls out. I am often holding up traffic because I’m driving to slow. I have to very very very slowly accelerate so that the car doesn’t stall.

The problem first started on 8-8-24 when I cranked up my car & the dashboard lit up with all of these different sensors. I called Leith Honda dealership in Aberdeen, due to that is where I take my car to be serviced at, my customer service rep (Brian) stated to wait to see if they would stay on, because of that type of car will reset itself.

I purchased my vehicle from Lithia, Inc. d/b/a Wilde Honda in Waukesha, Wisconsin new. Wilde Honda serviced the vehicle on [XXX], after I reported that all lights in the vehicle were coming on.

while driving in highway, all dash light slit up like a Christmas Tree and vehicle lost power. I was not able to go over 30 MPH and was in danger of being rear ended on freeway. I was able to pull over to safety and turn vehicle off.

Braking system caused my daughter to have an accident. My 2018 Honda Accord sport has been braking on its own for quite some time now. I attempted to turn off all safety features but somehow missed the braking system feature.

Vehicle suddenly accelerated one day as if someone had pushed on gas almost causing an accident. Next day vehicle began lagging and suddenly stopped with all lights and warnings going off. Everything from lane departure to emissions issues.

Driving on I-65 at 70mph (my cruise was set along with acc and lkas). System worked with no issues for ~200 miles. When this happened, the car in front of me slowed down, and my car started slowing down as well.

July 2020, adaptive cruise control (acc) system de-active while I was driving at approx 65mph.received dash board message 'collision mitigation braking system problem. See your dealer' . Warning went away after restarting vehicle.dealership could not replicate warning.

I was following my wife's car on the expressway. Her speed was 55 MPH. I had the adaptive cruise control (acc) on my vehicle set for 70 MPH, so naturally I was only 'pacing' her at her slower speed, about four car-lengths back.

Car on a straight road, no adverse weather conditions. The collision mitigation braking systems shuts down. This has occurred during both day and night time and has happened six times.

Second time brakes were applied to vehicle with no one in front of car, leading to car induced panic stop on road, thankfully, no one was trailing my car at that time. Honda test drove and could not find anything; since this is sporadic, this was not surprising.

Honda's collision mitigation system shuts down, disallowing cruise control and all safety features that are included in the collision mitigation system. Dealer cannot find cause. Turning off the car and restarting it resets it, but when it turns off, there is no clear factor as to why it happened.

Multiple errors involving vehicle's collision mitigation braking system (cmbs). Cmbs system fails regularly (approximately every 120 miles of driving) during routine use at freeway speeds. System failure shuts down adaptive cruise control (acc), collision mitigation braking system (cmbs) and displays error to "see your dealer".

Collision mitigation braking system activated for no reason, on surface roads and highway speeds, vehicle slammed on brakes automatically, there is nothing on the road in front of the car. Dealerships told me that there was no registration in the warranty system because they were unable to fix the problem so no record of this problem was sent to honda usa.

The collision mitigation system and adaptive cruse control (acc) has on two occasions turned off at highway speed - potentially dangerous situation if you are depending on the system to regulate your speed in traffic. The car must be stopped and restarted to reactivate the system. Also, the system at times applies braking when there are no other cars or other obstacles in it's line of sight.

Active cruise control (acc) failed while driving approx. I have a 2018 honda accord 2.0t touring. I have numerous incidents where the collision mitigation braking system has gone out giving an amber dash warning to see the dealer. This has happened 6 times all when the adaptive cruise control was engaged.

The collision mitigation braking system warning light comes on intermittently. I have to stop the car turn it off and turn it back on in order to reset the warning light. The dealer tells me this is a known problem but they don't have a fix the light has come on in all types of driving conditions, clear and dry, rain, etc.

While travelling at a speed of 60 miles per hour, following another car the spacing was controlled by acc. The car in front of me continued forward, my braking system engaged and caused me to go from 60 MPH to about 35 MPH.

I have had several occurrences of a warning that states "collision mitigation braking system problem. Please see your dealer." this error message will pop up randomly with no pattern while using the advanced cruise control function on my vehicle. While this error is present I am not able to use any kind of cruise control settings.

My collision mitigation system randomly fails which pops up an alert and disables my adaptive cruise control and automatic braking. It has happened various times when adaptive cruise control has been engaged with different environemental situatuons (day and night, sunny and cloudy). Turning off the engine and restarting typically corrects the issue for a time but it continues to fail intermently.

All three systems were nonfunctional. Dealer advised to drive through a car wash before coming in for repair.

As I was pulling out the garage from the san francisco international airport heading towards the highway to san francisco the miles per hour is 30 entering and then 65 MPH when you get on highway. I live in rochester ny and even with very light snow that is not even collecting on the roadway I get an urgent notification that crash avoidance and any radar based safety systems are compromised and not available at this time. This is due to the radar unit being interfered with snow collection as it is in the shape of a square cup and it collects snow like a scoop.

While driving with the cruise control on the collision mitigation and braking system will intermittently turn off and disable the cruise control. Dealer says nothing is wrong, claim the sensors are overloaded. This can happen on bright sunny days, cloudy days and at night.

Driving my new 2018 accord ex-l 2.0 in the left lane on i65 going south toward lafayette in on friday october 5. There were two southbound lanes. Conditions were wet but it was not raining hard at the time.

Wife was driving on interstate in the left hand lane about 75 MPH when a yellow light appeared on the dash and car lost engine power. Wife is unsure which yellow light came on due it happening so fast. She coasted across three lanes and made it to the shoulder.

I have revcieved the "collision mitigation braking system problem" multiple times. I have taken it to the dealer and they adjusted the brake and did a software update but I continue to get the same problem.

2/24/2025 Safety Recall work performed at Honda Marin; change Fuel Pump per recall. 4/28/2025 I reported vehicle stalling/misfiring, decelerating on its own and all lights keep coming on as a result of Fuel Pump change. Marin Honda performed cleaning of battery cables; technician claims nothing is wrong with the car.

Engine stalled out in the middle of the road immediately after acceleration following a sudden braking event. A car had pulled out in front of my vehicle at an intersection requiring a sudden brake. After the car had passed, a quick acceleration was needed as a car was quickly approaching from behind.

The vehicle is stalling while driving to a point where on the freeway it slows down to 10 miles per hour to all of the sudden have all the emergency lights on that come to a sudden stop. I have called 3 different Honda dealers, they said that they need to check what is wrong with the car first making it clear that there is a fee of $220.

There are many warming lamps on in the car. My car won't pick up speed it in limp mode once I crank up. I have to turn it off and restart any order for it to go and pick up speed.

On 11/3/25 honda conducted the fuel injection recall fix. Prior to this, no warning lights were displayed on dash. 11/11/25 nine different warnings displayed on dashboard board.

All lights on head dash are on , all components are not working properly or effected because of this. (Engine light brake light ABS light tire light traction control light , sensors out all) while driving vechile reduces power does not operate randomly , have to pull over shut the car off and turn it back on. Has high vibrations lot of shaking, stauling.

I’ve been trying to get my part replaced since August and I’ve been hundreds of dollars in between that time till now WASTING MONEY! And I’ve been told by 3 different dealerships that because I wasn’t experiencing what they considered major issues that they decided to not see me for the recall based off the information provided.

When driving at highway speeds the auto has started to brake and the warning brake alert flashes on the dashboard when there are no obstructions. On some occasions the brake warning light comes on even when there are no cars or traffic in front of the auto. Recently the cruise control turned off for no apparent reason.

My car keeps slowing down on me while driving and thas dangerous I have two kids!! My car will not accelerate once it slows down . My car engine lights keeps blinking.

Vehicle suddenly stopped turning over, replaced battery incase it wasn’t enough. Vehicle had a little under a quarter tank of gas so added another gallon or two and that brought it up to 1/2 a tank. Vehicle turned on once rough then smoothed out and then shut off in the road 10 minutes later.

2018 accord randomly and automatically brakes hard when no obvious hazard is around. The acc will turn off and error is displayed saying see your dealer. When the car is turned off it resets and acc is running again.

Accord accelerates to surge at random - it happened 4 times. Two times when we were driving on the freeway, one time on the street, and one time was when we were stopped at a red light! We had to brake very, very hard, and use our emergency brake!

Car is 2 weeks old and I've had the cmbs which controls the autobraking and adaptive cruise control go off 4 times with the failure warning and to see the dealer for inspection. Each time was under a different set of environments including at night, a cloudy day, rain, and sunny. It seems to fail within 10 mins of the first time the adaptive cruise is set.

Automatic emergency braking took car from 60 to 0 on highway (route 65n in nashville). Luckily no one was behind me (it was 6am) or I could have been rear-ended. I could not accelerate or control the car at this point and came to a complete stop.

Immediately after purchasing the vehicle in charleston, sc, I made a trip to atlanta. During the round trip I noticed on several occasions after making a stop, such as at a traffic light, when the light turned green and I pressed the accelerator there was no response. After 4 or 5 seconds the engine accelerated at such a rate that it was difficult to control.

Sacramento ca , Car stopped in the middle of the highway couldn’t accelerate, won’t let me advance past 20 MPH gas fuel was changed earlier in 2025 but I’m sure it’s the fuel injectors

When the vehicle in front of me slows down significantly, my Accord will flash the automatic brake warning and come to a complete stop. Once stopped the vehicle does not accelerate for a few moments. Several times I’ve pressed the acceleration pedal to the floor with no acceleration, the vehicle in front of me long all while watching cars swerve behind me to not rear end me.

In the states where it snows, the car collects large amounts of snow on the front, and knocks out the radar system for the lane departure detection system, witch also is for the braking system, that helps with cruise control and any close encounters. I am not sure if it actually affects the cruise control because in the snow is not a time to use it.

Monday september 24th, 2018, I was traveling on u.s. Highway 19 and a vehicle turned off about a half mile ahead of me while I had the cruise control engaged. The vehicle had completely cleared the road and my car slammed on brakes causing everything in the vehicle to be thrown into the floorboard.

While driving at highway speeds with acc (adaptive cruise control) enabled and lkas (lane keep assist) enabled and passing a car and another time an 18 wheel truck, the car suddenly and abruptly braked to slow down 5 MPH. The road was straight and no cars were in front of me. This was a very dangerous situation because cars were behind me and they all had to react to slow down.
