Your reverse camera display is showing an upside-down image, making it difficult to see what's actually behind you when backing up. The parking sensors are also beeping continuously even when there's nothing in your path, creating a false sense of danger and making the system unreliable. This could be hazardous since you may brake unexpectedly based on false alerts. The fix will likely involve inspecting the camera connector and sensor wiring, or replacing the backup camera unit itself.

[XXX], around 11am, I was driving and the driver door was wide opened. I tried to shut it but no way. I managed to find a parking where I parked. I called AAA but they couldn't do anything. While trying to find out what was going on, we came to cross the recall. I called FORD CS. She advised to tow Focus to the nearest dealership. Also, I asked that FORD assist me with a rental but she said that the dealership has to run their diagnosis and confirm it's a recall first even after I gave her the detail of what happened. I could be in a messy accident. All I asked is a car that can keep me going to my workplaces. I work day and night, week days and weekends. Focus was towed. On Monday, June 10th, we kept contact with the dealership. Michelle was our contact. She confirmed the recall and said the car doors would be fixed by Tuesday. I asked for a rental or loaner, she refused. I went back to chat with FORD CS agent. Nothing was resolved. So mad. On Thursday, [XXX], I left my day job going home. The gas yellow sign was showing on the board and I was on my way to get gas. I could still see 7 miles left before completion. I was driving in the middle lane on the highway [XXX] ). The engine stalled without warning and Focus won't restart. Another panicking situation for me in less than a week. I called AAA & they said Focus needed to be towed to the shop. Wow! At this very moment, Focus is at the repair shop. Yesterday, Friday, June 14th, the agent told me that they replaced the battery and that they found some safety issues like oil change ( this was done recently and due only in Nov. 24), .... At this point, I told them I'll pay for the battery and get Focus on Monday, Now, I was reading about the 3 recalls and came across the fuel system, gasoline: storage. I kind of realized that this might be the case on Thursday. Pls, take care of my Focus without endangering my life. I will be expecting your reply about steps to take. I was driving and all of a sudden a loud bang was heard which made me shocked and frightened. I realized after I pulled over that my moonroof had shattered completely. Knowing nothing had fallen on it or was thrown. I called Ford about the issue and they refuse to do anything about it. I also made an insurance claim which has been not addressed.

On Monday March 27th 2023 at about 7:00 pm I was leaving the parking garage where I work in Rosslyn, VA: I started the car as usual and notice that I couldn't put the car in Reverse using the clutch (it's an automatic Ford Focus 2013): Luckily, the parking garage was empty on the level where I was parked, and I pushed the car back and forth to be able to keep the car in "Drive" mode so that I could drive the car out of the garage. I did that and I started to drive to go home. I started to notice that I couldn't accelerate the car and at about 20 min into driving I started to get a signal on the dash board that said: “TRANS OVERHEATING”, and I was getting the signal to stop the car to cool off before driving it again. I had to do this several time (at least 6 times) while I was driving home to MD. The car was NOT SAFE to drive I barely made it home and the next morning on Tuesday March 28th I drove the car to the Ford Dealer "Academy Ford" in Laurel MD, having the same issue and emergency signal on the dash board. This is the SECOND TIME that this issue has presented itself: in 2019 the Car had the same problem, and at the time, because the car was under extended warranty, Ford replaced the part at no cost. I took the car at the same Ford Dealer in 2019. (see paper attached) This time the Dealer said that I would have to pay for the COST OF THE REPAIR, which I provided with the QUOTE from the Dealer in attachment. I was advised to contact directly "Ford Costumer Service" to see if they would provide Financial Assistance and Reimbursement for the Car Rental that I had to get because I didn't have a car and I work in VA every day (the cost is provided in attachment). Ford Costumer Service opened a case but denied ANY FINANCIAL HELP and Assistance for the Car and for the Rental because THERE ARE NOT CURRENTLY ANY RECALLS of this nature ON THE FORD FOCUS 2013. I need to open a CASE & A RECALL for this PROBLEM for the FORD FOCUS 2013. Thank you.

June 2021 I purchased a car from a Ford dealership in North Carolina. when buying the seller had assured me that the vehicle was in good condition and had not informed me that there was a recall concerning the transmission. However, I had clearly explained to this seller that I had to make a long trip (2000 miles). Not even a month later, the vehicle started having problems reversing. When I arrived in Austin I had to take it to a mechanic who informed me of the recall. When I typed the VIN on the internet I even found another recall related to a door safety issue. I took it to another ford dealership for repairs which cost almost $3000. February 2022 another problem appeared and it seems that I still have to make repairs. the capital ford lillington dealer does not answer my calls or emails.

Sometimes the engine will not start. I have to continue attempting start until I hear a noise on the motor then it starts. Then if it goes in gear it will drop out of gear while driving. Most of the time I have to shut the vehicle off and restart multiple times to get it working again. I may be on the side of the road for 45 minutes or an hour waiting for it to reboot and start working again. Thus I don’t allow my fiancé to drive it by herself and this is not good.

There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle operated as a stick shift despite being an automatic vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the dual clutch assembly; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the same part was replaced a total of 10 times; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

The dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

While driving the vehicle the power steering completely failed and it became impossible to steer (except with great effort). If this had happened on the highway at speed it could easily have caused a major accident. I have seen hundreds of complaints about this problem on the internet, but there has been no recall for this highly dangerous defect.

The power of the car (a 2013 Ford Focus Electric) simply STOPPED within a few seconds of the warning message. A red triangle appeared on the dash with the message Stop Safely Now. I was surprised and pulled over. My safety was at risk because had I been making a left turn in traffic, I would likely NOT HAVE SURVIVED. I was on a country road and able to pull over immediately. The car lost power within seconds and would not move. After my car was towed away, I learned: This is a defect that FORD knows about; it has been confirmed in one of their technical safety bulletins (TSB 17-0045.) It ought to be a RECALL. It is a huge safety issue. The car was towed to a Ford dealership parking lot and could be inspected.

When accelerating the vehicle pulls back to shift and then will release when going up in RPM’s. After filling car with gas and when on the break the car will stall and takes time to restart the car. Had to pay out of pocket for recall 18S32 due to initially having it looked out and Ford closed out the recall because they recalibrated but did not actually fix the issue so 2 months later I had to pay out of pocket for the recall.

I was driving down the road and getting ready to stop at a red light but all of a sudden my car died completely. Lost all power including electrical and mechanical. Luckily there was no one in front of me so there was no accident but I was forced to push the car out of the middle of the intersection. It still isn't working. The battery is brand new and when I charge it it charges up like it should so I definitely think it's something else on the car causing the issue. I had no warning lights on or anything.

THE VEHICLE WAS NEXT TAKEN TO MIKE CASTRUCCI FORD (1020 OH-28, MILFORD, OH 45150, (513) 275-1048) HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. I HAVE HAD MY FOCUS IN THE SHOP AT LEAST 6 TIMES FOR THE TRANSMISSION. EACH TIME THEY HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE CLUTCHES & SEALS. NOW THEY SAY IT NEEDS THE CLUTCHES, SEALS, THROW OUT BEARING AND FORKS AT A COST OF $2231.00 & IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM SINCE THE CAR WAS BOUGHT NEW IN 2013 & FORD WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IT HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST BE HIT SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WON'T SHIFT CORRECTLY. I WOULD SAY THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AS WELL AS MECHANICAL.

WHEN I WENT TO PARK, I TRIED BACKING UP AND IT WOULDN'T MOVE, IT JUST ROLLED FORWARD. I HAD TO REPARK, BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET MY CAR TO BACK UP. SEVERAL WEEKS AGO, RANDOM, SUDDEN THUDS BEGAN TO OCCUR ON WHAT SOUNDED LIKE THE ROOF OF THE CAR; SOMETIMES A SINGLE THUD, SOMETIMES TWO OR THREE. THIS WAS WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION; AND NOT WITH THE RADIO ON. IT HAPPENED DAILY, UNTIL THIS PAST WEEKEND, THROUGHOUT THE EVENING ON FRIDAY 10/11 AND WHENEVER DRIVING ON SATURDAY 10/12 AND SUNDAY 10/13 (WITHOUT THE RADIO OR CD PLAYER ON) LOUD, SUDDEN AND PROLONGED SIZZLING AND CRACKLING/POPPING SOUNDS WOULD BREAK OUT IN WHAT SOUNDED LIKE THE DASHBOARD(?) AND DOORS? MY GRANDDAUGHTER WAS WITNESS TO ALL OF THIS, AND WE BOTH WERE FRIGHTENED BY IT EACH TIME IT HAPPENED (A TOTAL OF 20+ TIMES?). I CONSIDERED NOT DRIVING THE CAR AT ALL, BUT HAVE NO OTHER MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION AND LIVE IN A SOMEWHAT RURAL AREA. IT OBVIOUSLY IS ELECTRICAL IN NATURE, AND IS A PROGESSION FROM THE THUDS THAT WERE INITIALLY HAPPENING SEVERAL WEEKS AGO. WHAT ON EARTH CAN BE GOING ON THIS CAR? AGAIN, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SOUND SYSTEM, BECAUSE IT ALL HAPPENS WHEN THE RADIO HASN'T EVEN BEEN TURNED ON. I'M AFRAID THAT A WIRING BREAKAGE HAS OCCURRED SOMEWHERE AND A FIRE COULD POTENTIONALLY BREAK OUT IN THE CAB!

WITH MY BLINKER ON AND THE WAY CLEAR, I ACCELERATED INTO THE STREET FOR MY LEFT TURN. I'D JUST GOTTEN INTO THE TURN WHEN THE PASSENGER DOOR SWUNG WIDE OPEN! BY DUMB LUCK, JUST AS THE TURN WAS FINISHED, THERE WAS AN ENTRANCE ON THE IMMEDIATE RIGHT INTO A LIQUOR STORE PARKING LOT. AFTER TRYING TO SECURELY CLOSE IT HALF A DOZEN TIMES, I TOOK OUT A CHUNK OF THICK ROPE FROM THE TRUNK AND TIED THE DOOR HANDLE TO THE CAR SEAT HEADREST POLE. WOW, PRETTY SCARY. THE TECHNICIAN BASICALLY ALREADY INFORMED ME THAT HE EXPECTS MY REPAIR TO NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I ALREADY HAD A MAJOR TRANSMISSION OVERHAUL 2 OR 3 YEARS AGO, I THINK. THAT ONE WAS STILL COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAR ONLY HAS 43000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS THE 5TH TIME I HAVE BROUGHT IT IN FOR THIS ISSUE, I BELIEVE. ALSO OF NOTE, I NEVER RECEIVED THE FOLLOW UP LETTER FROM THE 18S32/18-V-735 NHTSA RECALL FROM FORD NOTIFYING ME THAT THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT SHOCKS - A VISIT THAT UNCOVERED ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS WITH ORIGINAL PARTS THAT ALSO RESULTED IN MY VEHICLE BEING IMMOBILIZED FOR MORE THAN ONE DAY AND RESULTED IN ADDITIONAL EXPENSES OF A RENTAL VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN VERY DILIGENT IN THE UPKEEP OF THIS VEHICLE WITH OIL CHANGES, FILTER REPLACEMENTS, A NEW BATTERY, AND TIRES. STILL, I AM PRESENTLY EXPERIENCING CHALLENGES WITH THIS CAR ACCELERATING AFTER BRAKING. IT FEELS LIKE IT IS JUMPING GEARS AND IS RELUCTANT TO UP-SHIFT. WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THERE HAD BEEN ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLES DUAL CLUTCH THAT WAS REDESIGNED ON THE CAR. THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED AND DEEMED OKAY TO DRIVE PER DEALER. WE PICKED UP HER VEHICLE AND EVERYTHING APPEARED TO BE RUNNING SMOOTHLY, UNTIL A FEW MONTHS LATER SHE STARTED HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. THIS TIME THE CAR STARTED TO JERK MORE OFTEN AND WAS GETTING WORSE. WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, CAR WAS PLACED ON COMPUTER AND WE WERE INFORMED BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT NO ISSUES WERE FOUND. MY DAUGHTER HAS HAD HER VEHICLE FOR A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS NOW, AND WE ARE STILL GOING THROUGH THIS PROBLEM. THE ENGINE LIGHT IS NOW COMING ON WHILE SHE IS DRIVING. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND COULD CAUSE SOMEONE TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO GET THESE VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD, SINCE THE PROBLEM IS NOT ABLE TO BE CORRECTED AT OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIPS. DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH BROKE AND DOOR OPENED UP WHILE DRIVING. I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WHILE HOLDING MY DOOR SHUT AND CLUTCH SHIFTING IN ORDER TO GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE FIRST DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO SERVICE IT UNTIL AUGUST 25TH 2016 (RED MCCOMBS FORD WEST). SO, I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE IT 16 MILES ON THE FREEWAY TO NORTHSIDE FORD IN SAN ANTONIO. BECAUSE IT HAS EXCEEDED THE 36K MILE WARRANTY, THE REPAIR BILL IS QUOTED AT JUST UNDER $700 BECAUSE THE "DOOR LATCH MECHANISM FAILED" AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I'M BLESSED THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE TURNING RIGHT OR HAD IT BEEN THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR WITH A CHILD. I'VE READ MANY REPORTS ABOUT FAILED DOOR LATCHES WITH FORD AND NOT SURE WHY THIS ISN'T BEING RECALLED AND WHY FORD ISN'T WILLING TO PUT THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS FIRST. I RETURNED HOME FROM WORK AND PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DRIVERS DOOR. IT WOULD NOT STAY SHUT, I EXAMINED THE DOOR TO LOOK FOR AN OBSTRUCTION AND FOUND NONE. THE DOOR LATCH WOULD NOT ENGAGE TO KEEP THE DOOR SHUT. I TIED A ROPE BETWEEN THE TWO FRONT DOOR HANDLES SO I COULD DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK ON GETTING IT REPAIRED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE SERVICE WRITER TOLD ME THAT HE'S SEEN PLENTY OF THESE INSTANCES OF THE DOOR LATCH BREAKING AND NOT STAYING CLOSED AND THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST AROUND $500 TO FIX. I ASKED IF THEY HAVE UPGRADED OR REDESIGNED THE PART BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE ISSUES HE SAID PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH THE DOOR LATCHES AND HE TOLD ME THAT THE PART NUMBER HAS NOT CHANGED SO IT IS PROBABLY THE SAME.

THE FACTORY REPLACEMENT PART HAS A METAL ACTUATOR ROD, SO THE COMPANY MUST KNOW THAT THE ORIGINAL PART WAS DEFECTIVE. I COULD PICTURE THIS CAUSING A CRASH WHEN THE CLUTCH DOESN'T OPERATE PROPERLY.
