RECALLCampaign #19V633000

SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:RECLINER

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2020 F-150 and 2019-2020 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty pickup trucks, and 2018-2019 Ford Explorer, 2019-2020 Expedition, and 2020 Escape vehicles equipped with driver and/or passenger's manual front seat back recliner mechanisms. Also included are certain 2020 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator vehicles equipped with rear outboard seats and manual seat back recliner mechanisms. The recliner mechanisms may be missing the third pawl required for seat back strength, resulting in a loose seat back. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 202, "Head Restraints" and 207, "Seating Systems."

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and Ford and Lincoln dealers will inspect the seat structure and replace them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 21, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19C07.

The seats have metal protruding from the rear portion where your tailbone would rest. It's not just uncomfortable, it becomes painful the longer you drive. I was told the seat heaters were improperly installed in the beginning of the manufacture process for 2020 ford escapes.

The driver's seat has something protruding (seat heater?) into your tailbone which causes pain and discomfort. The constant adjusting to get comfortable (grabbing the steering wheel to pull myself forward) and slower reaction due to pain and numbness is a hazard waiting to happen.

The rear view/backup camera has not worked since the day we drove it home. It will work intermittently but most of the time it shows wavy lines across the screen. Occasionally after shifting from reverse to drive, the camera will start working but the rear view picture will remain on the screen even while in drive!

The drivers seat (bottom cushion) has a piece of metal or heavy wiring, about 2 inches long, at the back of the seat, where your tailbone is. The wire is easy to find (it runs back to front) under the seat material. It is very uncomfortable when driving.

The passenger front seat handle to let the seat recline broke off. There has to be some kind of defect to the way it was put together.

The springs or bar at the back of the bottom seat of the drivers seat is poking up and I have to adjust constantly while driving as it hurts. Very unsafe to have to constantly change positions to try and not hurt. A picture will not show what is happening when the seat is sat on.
