Your car is subject to a recall issued in July 2025 for a potential engine fire risk. As of now, there is no fix available from Ford. Until this recall is resolved, your vehicle poses a serious safety risk to you and others on the road.

While driving at 70 mph, your engine ran rough and suddenly slowed down to 25 mph, triggering the check engine light. A mechanic found that coolant had leaked into the engine, which cracked the cylinder head. Your engine will need to be replaced to fix this issue.

Your 2020 Ford Escape was supposed to have a safety defect fixed under Recall 22S21 in 2022, but the original defective part (an oil separator) is still on your vehicle and is now leaking oil onto hot engine components, which creates a fire risk. The dealership is refusing to perform the recall repair at no charge and is instead demanding $500, even though federal law requires manufacturers to fix safety defects for free. The oil is also entering the turbocharger due to excessive crankcase pressure caused by the failed separator. This repair will likely involve replacing the defective oil separator component with a new one.

Based on the current recall for the 2020 Ford Escape, fuel injectors could crack, become hot and further leading to a fire under the hood. This letter of notice was sent in August 2025, its now nearly 2026 with zero repair in order. This is a huge safety issue, having a recall for something that could cause a fire screams safety issue!!
