2020 Ford Escape Electrical Problems

My Ford currently has 80K miles on it with no accidents and all recalls fixed by the dealer. This morning when I was driving my kids to school, a light I've never seen appeared on the bottom right hand side of the drivers screen. The light was a red triangle with an exclamation point inside of it.

My Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Warning, Pre Collision warning all quit working and just flash across the screen, my light indicators for blind spot on my side mirrors quit working, my back up camera just has a bluescreen, there is no audio so no alerts can be heard and my sync doesnt work it has the screen but wont let you hear anything so yes I drive a bit away to work not having these features has been a major safety concern I have almost backed into someone because they were in my blind spot and no warning lights or warning sounds I have perviously went to a dealership for four active recalls they only look at the powertrain one there was one about spot welds nothing was done about either they broke like within the first few months of me having the car I have never received anything on extending my warrenty partly because I moved I guess but they basically told me when I was there for the recalls I would have to come back and pay for them to look at the rest which I said I wasn't aware that I had to pay for something that was a safety concern so then I contacted the place where I purchased the car that was 2 weeks ago they still have not contacted me back after several attempt and no response I then got on chat with Ford gave them a list of what was going on and they have yet to respond either but it was read just being ignored at this point and I'm at the end of my patience these are major safety issues I haven't even had this car a maybe a year if that and no one care to help I was told there was nothing wrong with anything basically I would have to wait for something to happen when I went for the recalls

All kinds of warning lights come in and stay on, which a lot of people are having the same issue which is due to a faulty sensor module.. I almost hit a truck who pulled out of a parking lot once I was on top of him ( was trucks fault) and no warning lights were functioning properly.

Warning lights coming on and staying on unless I press ok on steering wheel. Warning lights are: pre-collision assist not available, and fault service required, and off, and traction light comes on and stays on.

First Ford had issues a Customer Satisfaction Program 21B19 was issued to all Ford dealers on April 9, 2021. Then they put out a TSB 23-2061 which my vehicle is part of but says it is not covered under warranty. There are MANY 2020 FORD ESCAPES with this issue.

Driver side door is literally falling off. The hinge is broken and the dealer says although it is a known issue Ford will not cover it. I cannot open the door or else will not be able to close it again.

Consistent metallic cracking noise heard when opening side door. I cannot completely open the door without the door making this noise and it feels like the door could come off at ant time…..I have to gingerly open the door on entering or exiting the vehicle. Also, the Driver side window does not completely go up and down when door is closed.

7/31/23 Used 2020 Ford Escape was bought at Cecil Atkission Motors, it was deemed "fully functional, no present issues." 08/02/23 Tire issues, dealership inspected and found 2 screws in driver tire/failed alignment test. Also suddenly found oil pan and left axle seal leaking. Seal leaking and replaced.

The dashboard and main touch screen would not light up in the middle of driving - this would occur every 5 minutes. "System off to save battery please turn ignition off or start engine" pop up would come on main screen while the entire system was done. Another pop up "auto hold system fault" warning would come up as well.

My driver side door began making a grinding/creaking noise when opening. It was rather alarming as it was loud and extremly noticibale everytime I would open AND close my door. 1) confirmed after many service trips that a wire in the engine harness is being pinched causing my check engine light to come on or off depending on if the wire is currently pinched or not. I took my car in a couple times and was told that they could not do anything if the engine light is not currently on, even when I could read the error to them from my app.

All the TPMS sensors have had to be replaced on the Escape with under 51K miles on them. The Ford Dealer admitted this is a serious Safety issue and have had numerous complaints.

A module is causing communication issues in the car between its and the key fob causing the car not to be able to start at all. It has been at the Ford dealer [XXX] for over a month now and they are unable to remedy the situation. They claim they can’t update the software or can’t find out what’s wrong with the car.

I have a recall been having this problem for months told them what was going on they said nothing was wrong. Months later recall got called for the fuel injector and replacement of high fuel injectors im a single mother. Underneath the transmission is a part that once damaged could emit steel into the transmission which causes damage to the transmission. Small pieces of steel. My technician said it happens to all the Ford vehicles mainly the Ford Escape and Ford has not provided a recall for this and it cost $3,500.00 to be replaced.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS): My dashboard only displays pressure readings for two of the four tires.

When I push the driver window down and when I want to roll it up. The driver window don't go up I have to play with button by pushing it up and down for about 5 to 10 minutes. I have to keep pushing the button up-and-down or turn my car off, open my door it takes a minute for it to go back up.

AWD fault at 58,000 miles. AWD module has to be replaced at approximately $750. Power train/drivetrain warranty good for 60,000 miles.

The shift selector locks in park when it gets hot. Several times the car has been disabled due to the shifter being locked in park. The car is in the driveway not allowing for our other car to reach the street.

I have already put in a complaint about the broken spots welds, I am now adding to that complaint. I had the window fixed but because the door is broken I cannot roll down the window. My door is now not locking so stays open even when engaging the locks.

Replaced AWD Module at 49,134 miles - four months after purchasing from a Ford Dealer. It is obviously a faulty module with all the complaints online. Individuals shouldn't have to spend a fortune when Ford knows there is/was a problem with the part, and failed to recall it and perform its due diligence.

Approximately 1/4/2024 The front drivers side door is broken. The bolts broke off on the inside.I had no prior warning, I went to open my door and a huge clunk sound happened and it was difficult to open , there was friction ,opening it all the way is causing friction and I don’t want the door to fall off. Also it’s causing the automatic window not to work now , that only is opening half way .

For at least a year or better, I noticed a creaking noise in the driver side door. Then on November 14th while doing my first time doing meals on wheels delivery, the door sounded as if it was going to fall off. We drove to Horn Ford Dealership in Brillion where the car was purchased and had them look at it.

About 3 weeks ago now I opened my driver door and heard a loud cranking followed by a poo, the arm bar weld on the door just broke, had to shut the door from the outside and as a result I don't have control over my driver side window and all the power locks in the vehicle are shot.

My check arm broke at the welding sites and has now affected my locks, window, and the door staying open/shut. I am worried about my window shattering and my door not closing or opening while I am driving. My locks are no longer working which leaves me to be worried about someone getting into my car, since there is not way for me to lock my door.

The entire dash goes black while driving. I've called the dealership and they just say "yeah its known for that". Then they say if it keeps happening to let them look at it.

The drivers side door hinge broke and the window no longer rolls down. When I took it to the dealership they told me the weld on the hinge broke, that it was not covered under warranty, and that I would need a whole new door. It is the middle hinge that stabilizes the door and stops the top two hinges from becoming damaged.

The driver door frame has a fracture spot weld on the inside of the door, causing the window to fail to move up or down as needed. The failure caused the door to make a lot of grinding and cranking sound while being opened out wide. I took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the door either needed to be replaced or just the inner portion of the door needed to be repaired.

Driver door check arm attachment point (black door hinge) snapped from manufactured spot weld to frame of door. Ford Dealer stated my Escape was the 3rd one that month with the same problem.

the auto start stop engine feature stops functioning intermittently no set pattern it randomly doesn't work. Never know if the engine will shut down when its supposed to or not

Display is overheating and inoperable

The rear safety camera does not work get wavy lines similar to a bad tv picture.problem is by some reports due to hot weather (+ 70 farenheight) this is bs I have had 3 other vehicles same location same weather no problems.

Back-up camera erratic, blind-spot indicator on passenger side mirror erratic, lift-gate opens sometimes just by walking behind vehicle or will come down on its own when open. Once, the sync 3 screen was extremely hot to the touch and the controls were frozen. This happened after start-up and the screen took a long time to boot up.

The electrical in this car has been nothing but trouble. I bought the car with 2000 miles on it and I've had it about a month and I've had 4 issues with it. The first issues the cruise control epuld not work.

For months, I have had restraints indicator lamp warning, specifically for the driver seatbelt buckle sensor circuit, as well as one notification for a fault with the occupant classification system which includes air bags and safety belt buckle pretensioners. It is going to cost over $600 to fix the driver belt alone.

Car has self started in my garage 3 times in the last two weeks, just now it did it again. This is very dangerous, could hurd someone or burn my house down. This needs to be looked into.

When riding down the road once the car heats up it jerks like it's going to cut off going down the road and you can smell has it has just recently started doing this.

Driving down road and came to stop sign and vehicle engine turned off due to start/stop feature and would not turn back on. Received alert battery was going into deep sleep mode. While stuck at stop sign.

Went to open the drivers side left front door and heard a loud clunk, now door isn't opening or shutting properly and we can't use the drivers window either. I've heard of peoples doors falling off while driving because of this and we just bought the car at the end of October. We have yet to get it looked at, but it's not a cheap fix.

Car will stop locking it won’t lock from the door, or automatically, or with the remote.

Dashboard message indicates the left front door is open although the door is properly closed and locked. I'm still able to lock and unlock the door using the lock switch on the inside door panel while sitting in the driver's seat. I can also lock and unlock the door using my key fob.

Back door of my ,2020 Ford Escape SE, is stuck closed! won't open at all with key fob or buttons on driver side or button on back door. Multiple times before it got stuck closed, the door wouldn't latch properly and bounce open randomly over bumps in the road!

Front passenger door is coming apart - literally the inside structure is separating from the frame of the car. The driver door is automatically locking even when key fob is in the car. When rolling up windows- the Automatic windows continue to roll up and down without touching the buttons.

The lift gate won't open. The "enable" and "disable" options on the vehicle screen are greyed out.

P2418 Electrical fault has occurred with the evap emission vapor blocking valve circuit and its associated wiring.

Driver side door hinge/weld breaks. The metal pops, makes a loud sound, door then has to be forced shut. Due to this the window and lock does not work.

Radio/Bluetooth system has completely stopped working in the middle of driving. It made all the lights in the car go crazy. The car shut off and cut back on while I was driving down the interstate.

Driver door - one day, without prior warning, when opening or closing the door, it makes a popping sound as if a hing of some sort is broken. The door does not remain in an open position when getting in our out. Consequently, the drive window only opens about 2 inches.

My main car display is dying and it’s also my way into the car, diagnostic reporting and navigation. Navigating is harder with out main display freezing or not working at all. Also my blind spot sensor goes off at random times in which nobody had a answer for me on a fix for that.

Hello, The safety problem that I discovered in the car is as follows When I start the car with me "remote-start"and sit on the driver's seat, I can start the car by pressing the start button without first pressing the foot brake.

faulty spot welds on the drivers door checklink bracket failed and are preventing the door from closing correctly, and now the window wont roll all of the way down. not sure what else is broken inside of the door.

The car continually has delayed acceleration. It revs and drives 2.5 MPH for several seconds before it lurches into gear. It's extremely unsafe and I'm concerned about it happening on the highway.

The hands free lift gate sometime works and then other times it will not. The other day at the car wash the tailgate would release when I would walk behind the vehicle while washing it. Also, the last time I filled vehicle with gas and cleaned the rear glass with water the tailgate would automatically release

Rear trunk fails to open upon first startup of car

I just bought the car 2 weeks ago and have barely been driving it. 10/26 7am back up camera worked fine and at 630 pm while backing up-- it now has unviewable lines through the whole screen. It looks like my screen is corrupt or the back up camera is bad.

When shifting from park to reverse, rear camera displays a dark screen with waves like a broken tv screen. This happens at least once a week and is not corrected by shifting back and forth from park to reverse. Occurs when stationary shifting to reverse.

Backup safety camera and warning system fails outside temp is above 70 degrees and air conditioning has not been running long enough to cool the vehicle interior. When vehicle is parked outside in the summer the backup camera will not work until the air conditioning runs for about 10 minutes.

Most states require trailers of 3,000lb gvwr, and some states only 1,500lb, to have an independent braking system on at least one axle of the trailer. Ford sells vehicles with factory tow packages rated at 3,500lb, but does not supply even an optional electric brake controller. Further, they don't supply a "plug 'n' play" harness for an aftermarket controller as do many manufacturers.
