The rear view camera image suddenly became inverted (upside down) and the guide lines normally displayed disappeared. This defect appears permanent. Due tot the camera malfunction it is easy to be disoriented and collide with object behind the vehicle. On several occasions I ran into parking lot dividers and planters.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while reversing, the rearview camera displayed a distorted image. The contact stated that the rearview camera had previously been replaced in 2020 under warranty. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN and referred her to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was advised to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V575000 (Visibility); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

The sunroof rails guides broke and its not being hold by the rail guides. The broken pieces are just floating free. Feels like if i take highway the paranomic glass will swing open and cause an accident. Im really concern for my family or any passanger. I believe its a default from ford for not being well engeneeeed.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, there was a smell of burned rubber, and upon inspection, the contact noticed fire coming from the rear windshield wiper. The contact pulled over and fire marshals extinguished the fire. A police report was not taken and no one was injured. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer and was awaiting diagnosis. The manufacturer was informed of failure and told the contact to call NHTSA. The failure mileage was 188,013.

WHILE DRIVING ON HWY 2 IN WENATCHEE, WA AT 5PM ON OCTOBER 2, 2019 MY SUNROOF EXPLODED. THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME. THERE WERE NO OVERPASSES OR CARS NEAR ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE WEATHER WAS PARTLY CLOUDY AND AROUND 72 DEGREES. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH.

DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT 70 MILES PER HOUR ON STRAIGHT LEVEL AND SMOOTH SECTION OF HIGHWAY WHEN A SUDDEN LOUD EXPLOSION OCCURRED, AND GLASS COULD BE HEARD FALLING. DRIVER STOPPED TO ASSESS DAMAGE. GLASS HAD SHATTERED AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE STATIONARY PORTION OF THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF. THERE WAS NO FLYING ROAD DEBRIS AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THERE WAS NO APPARENT EVIDENCE OF IMPACT. THIS APPEARS TO BE EITHER A PROBLEM WITH THE MANUFACTURING OF THE GLASS OR THE WAY IN WHICH IT IS ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE. BACK HALF OF THE VISTA ROOF EXPLODED IN ALL FOUR CORNERS. THERE ARE SOME CRACKS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GLASS, BUT THE CORNERS ARE BLOWN OUT; ESPECIALLY TOWARDS THE REAR. THE ROOF INSIDE THE CAR LOOKS LIKE IT WAS SUCTIONED UP. I WAS DRIVING AND HEARD A VERY LOUD POP. WHEN I STOPPED TO AND CHECKED THE ROOF I FOUND THE BROKEN GLASS. THE CAR IS LIKE NEW AND THERE HAD BEEN NO PRIOR INCIDENTS OR DAMAGE TO IT. I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF THE CAR. THERE WAS NO IMPACT WHEN THIS HAPPENED; I WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ON A HOT SUMMER DAY. FORD CLAIMS THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. PURCHASED MY 2013 FORD EDGE IN AUGUST 2013. CAR HAS 9300 MILES ON IT. LAST NIGHT THE CAR WAS PARKED OUTSIDE FOR 90 MINUTES. WHEN WE GOT BACK TO THE CAR, WE NOTICED THE BACK WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. THE WINDOW DID NOT LOOK LIKE ANYTHING HAD HIT IT. THE WINDOW SHATTERED OUTWARD. IF SOMETHING HAD IT THE WINDOW, THE WINDOW WOULD HAVE SHATTERED INWARD INTO THE CAR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE LIMITED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RUBBER SEAL FOR THE VISTA SUN ROOF WAS DEFECTIVE AND AS A RESULT, FAILED TO CLOSE COMPLETELY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT DUE TO THE FAILURE WATER LEAK IN CAUSING WATER DAMAGE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE CARPET AND BOTH FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER LEATHER SEATS WERE SEVERELY DAMAGED BY WATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUN ROOF TRACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HOWEVER, AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION THE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THAT THE SUN ROOF TRACK DID NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE 78 MILES AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,000.

ON 10/21/13 AT 6:30 AM I WAS DRIVING ON MY DAILY ROUTE TO WORK ALONG INTERSTATE ROUTE 95-SOUTH. AS I WAS DRIVING OVER THE HIGH LEVEL BRIDGE IN PORTSMOUTH, NH, I HEARD A VERY LOUD BANG. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT STRUCK ANY OBJECT, NOR HAD ANY OBJECT STRUCK THE VEHICLE. I LOOKED UP AND SAW THAT THE ENTIRE MOONROOF HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED IN PLACE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF THE NEXT EXIT. WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND INSPECTED ITS EXTERIOR, I CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT ANYTHING HAD HIT MY CAR. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF ANY OBJECT HAVING STRUCK THE MOON ROOF. THERE WERE NO LOCALIZED IMPACT CRACKS OR PUNCTURE HOLES ANYWHERE, YET, A STRIP ALONG ALL FOUR EDGES OF THE MOON ROOF HAD SEPARATED, WHILE THE CENTER AREA STAYED INTACT, BUT WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE PORTSMOUTH, NH FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE MANAGER LOOKED AT MY VEHICLE'S MOON ROOF AND AGREED THAT THE DAMAGE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE CAUSED BY SOMETHING HITTING MY CAR. FMC HAS DOCUMENTATION OF HIS STATEMENT. SM TOOK PICTURES OF THE MOON ROOF AND SUBMITTED A TO FMC. FMC IMMEDIATELY DENIED THE REQUEST FOR REPLACEMENT. IN THE MEANTIME, THE SERVICE MANAGER ESCALATED THE REQUEST BECAUSE HE FELT VERY STRONGLY THAT THIS WAS NOT A RESULT OF SOMETHING HITTING MY MOON ROOF. THE REQUEST WAS ONCE AGAIN DENIED. MR.XXX HAS CONTINUED TO MAKE CALLS ON MY BEHALF THIS WEEK TO FMC, ASKING HOW ANYONE CAN MAKE A DETERMINATION WITHOUT SENDING SOMEONE TO INSPECT THE MOON ROOF FIRSTHAND. HE WAS REPEATEDLY TOLD FOR THREE DAYS THAT FORD WAS WORKING ON COMING UP WITH A RESOLUTION. ON 10/23/13 FORD CALLED AND OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF THE REPLACEMENT COST OF THE MOON ROOF. DUE TO THE LACK OF SERVICE FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY, I HAD TO SUBMIT A CLAIM THROUGH MY PERSONAL CAR INSURANCE.
