About a week ago my brakes on my 2013 Ford Edge Limited became for hard to press. The pedal became stiff. I almost was unable to stop even though I was going extremely slow approaching an intersection that was very busy. I have looked up recalls on this issue with the same description and realize Ford had issued a recall on 2013 Ford Edges however only certain Vin numbers. However, surfing through multiple posts and forums I am finding 100's so far of people that are angry because Ford refused to own up to the fact the all these 2013 Ford Edges are having issues with the Brake Booster which is a major safety issue and should have no cut off period due to the importance of this defective part! I finally wad able to bring my car to the dealer due to the other mechanic's I brought it to are all getting an invalid read when they do the diagnostic test on the car. Now Ford Dealership Jarret Ford in Dade City said it will be $1389. 00 to fix my brake booster. This is highway robbery.
I have a 2013 Ford Edge. Mileage approx 55,000 miles. All scheduled maintenance was up to date. In July 2023, while driving, car started to decelerate. No noises, smells or loss of steering. It was as if my gas pedal just stopped working. My dash had a warning to refer to owners manual. I Thank the Lord there was a break in traffic and I could "coast" to the emergency lane. I shut off the car, restarted it and everything was fine. Took it to my repair shop, they did a fuel injection cleaner and said...see how it goes. Cost: 150.00. 5 weeks later, August 2023 the same thing happened. Went back to repair shop where they diagnosed I needed a throttle body assembly replacement. Tack on another 450.00 bill. In both cases the power loss could have resulted in an accident with bodily injuries. My complaint about the Ford throttle body is not the first, a recall should be issued!
Stability control system keeps coming on
THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE AND CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM HAS BECOME INTERMITTENT, UNDEPENDABLE AND DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING. THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL WHEN IT IS WOKING OR NOT AND TO DEPEND ON IT IS ASKING FOR DISASTER. THE DEALER DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE A CLUE AS TO WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT.
THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON IN MY CAR. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SAID IT HAD THE CODES OF P2196 AND P2198 A H02S HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR IS MALFUNTIONING. WHEN THE REP PULLED UP THE CODES HE INFORMED ME THEY HAD THOUSANDS OF MY SAME VEHICLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I CONTACTED FORD WARRANTY AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED. THIS IS HORRIBLE FOR FORD TO KNOW THIS IS A DEFECT ON THEIR VEHICLE AND NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING IT. SO I WOULD LIKE TO LAUNCH THIS FORMAL COMPLAINT. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE AGAIN. THE AIP HAS GONE OUT IN MY VEHICLE AND I HAVE HAD OTHER ISSUES THAT THE FORD WARRANTY HAS SAID DID NOT APPLY. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE LIGHT CAME ON.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WHEN SUDDENLY MY CAR LOSES POWER AND ENTERS LIMP-HOME MODE AND A WRENCH FLASHES ON THE DASH THAT SAYS SEE MANUAL. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE AFFECTING THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ON FORDS MADE AROUND THE SAME YEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME TURNING IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY WHICH COULD EASILY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING YESTERDAY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND SHE WAS ALMOST IN A ACCIDENT!!! IT WAS LIKE THE VEHICLE DIED. IT ONLY HAS ABOUT 44,000 MILES ON IT AND I JUST BOUGHT IT WITH 41,000 ON IT. MY WIFE WAS VERY SCARED AND SO WAS I, AS I WAS AT WORK AND IT TOOK ME AN HOUR TO GET TO HER. I DROVE IT TODAY AND IT DID THE SAME THING TO ME, LOSS POWER AS I WAS DRIVING. APPARENTLY, MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED OF THIS. I NEED THIS FIXED AS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND YOU GUYS ARE AWARE OF IT. SOMETHING WITH THE THROTTLE BODY AND LINKAGE! I NEED AND WANT THIS FIXED. TL* THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE SERVICE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER APPROXIMATELY 3 ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION, BUT WAS TOWED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE AUTO THROTTLE BODY FAILED AND NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CLEANED THE AUTO THROTTLE BODY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. FORD OF CLERMONT (1101 EAST, W HWY 50, CLERMONT, FL 34711, (352) 394-6161) STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO CALL NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 59,000.
WE HAVE HAD OUR FORD EDGE FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS AND NO PROBLEMS UNTIL A FEW WEEKS AGO WHEN WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND LOST POWER TO THE ACCELERATOR. MANAGED TO GET THE CAR OVER TO THE SHOULDER TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. IT WAS THEN GOOD FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND AGAIN DID IT 5 TIMES THE OTHER DAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 91E ONE OF THE MOST BUSY HERE IN CALIFORNIA.THIS CONDITION CAN PUT YOU IN A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION.
ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS SINCE SEPTEMBER 2018, VEHICLE HAS SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING WHILE TRAVELING ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS AND HEAVY TRAFFIC. GAS PEDAL DID NOT RESPOND WHEN PRESSED. LUCKY TO HAVE AVOIDED SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. FORD DEALER/REPAIR COULD NOT IDENTIFY OR REPEAT PROBLEM, BUT CLEARLY THERE IS A PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOHNSON-SEWELL FORD-LINCOLN (830-693-5577, LOCATED AT 3301 US-281, MARBLE FALLS, TX 78654) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS OFFERED A DISCOUNT TOWARDS THE REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER AND WRENCH AND PARKING SHIFT MESSAGES SHOWN ON MY SUV DISPLAY. ON 03312018 MY FORD EDGE SPORT AWD 2013 SURPRISED ME WHEN AN UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER HAPPEN DURING AN SLOW MOTION IN A SECONDARY ROAD. UNABLE TO MANAGE MY VEHICLE I STOP AT THE NEAREST GAS STATION USING THE SLOPE BACKWARDS IN NEUTRO SHIFT UNTIL REACH THE GAS STATION BEHIND ME. THEN WHEN STOP I BEGAN TO READ VEHICLE BOOK AND SHUT DOWN THE VEHICLE AS RECOMMENDED. AFTER 30 MINS I RESTART THE VEHICLE AND THE LOSS POWER DISAPPEAR REASON WHY I DECIDE TO RETURN BACK TO MY HOME. WHEN I ENTER TO THE CONSUMER REPORT PAGE FROM MY PC AT HOME TO REQUEST INFO FOR ANY RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE I FIND OUT THAT A RECALL NUMBER EXIST FOR THIS TYPE OF SUV. THE RECALL NUMBER IS 14S10 SINCE AUGUST2014 BUT I NEVER HAS BEEN ADVISED. FEW MONTH AGO I WENT TO THE DEALER FOR A REVIEW OF A PROBLEM BUT THEY DID NOTHING AND SAID THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION AVOIDING THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO TELL ME ABOUT ANY RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I STILL EXPERIMENTING THE SAME SITUATION SINCE 03312018, RISKING MY LIFE AND THE LIFE OF OTHER PEOPLE IN THE ROAD AS MY SUV CONTINUES WITHOUT LOSING POWER BUT TAKEN THE PERTINENT PRECAUTION. A YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT WARNING COMES ON THE DASH. WHEN THAT HAPPENS THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL ACCELERATION POWER. YOU HAVE TO LIMP THE VEHICLE THE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND THEN START IT BACK. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN IN TRAFFIC. I FEEL THIS COULD CAUSE A WRECK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 866-436-7332 AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. CASE NUMBER: CAS12510115 WAS PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (DOING 70 MPH) MY VEHICLE RANDOMLY STALLED OUT. I WAS FORCED TO COAST TO A STOP, PULL OVER, AND TURN MY CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON TO BEGIN DRIVING AGAIN. IT LATER HAPPENED AN HOUR LATER AT A STOP LIGHT WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AND THEN AGAIN AT THE NEXT LIGHT ON THE ROAD. AFTER LOOKING UP POSSIBLE PROBLEMS, IT WAS FOUND THAT COUNTLESS OTHERS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE HAVE THE SAME STALLING PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING. THIS CREATES A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS RISK FOR DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE FORD DEALERSHIP LOOK AT MY VEHICLE, HOWEVER FROM OTHERS WHO HAVE SPOKEN ON THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THEY CANNOT "RECREATE THE PROBLEM". TWICE NOW WITHIN TWO DAYS, MY WIFE OR I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ALONG AT 20-30 MPH THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND THE VEHICLE HAS LOST PROPULSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED MAJOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING 65MPH ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHEN MY CAR DECELLERATES AND I LOSE POWER. I MANAGED TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO RESTART MY CAR.
THIS ISSUE STARTED A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO. I WOULD BE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY OR STREET AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY MAINTENANCE LIGHT WOULD COME ON, MY CAR WOULD BEGIN TO SHAKE/RATTLE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I COULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. IF I COULD, I WOULD PULL OVER, SOMETIMES I HAD TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION ON AN INCLINE AND COMPLETELY SHUT MY CAR OFF. I WOULD WAIT A FEW SECONDS AND IT WOULD START BACK UP AND RUN NO PROBLEM. I TOOK IT INTO 1 FORD AND THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT INTO A 2ND FORD EARLIER THIS YEAR IN MARCH AND THEY CLAIMED THEY FOUND THE ISSUE. I SPENT OVER $1,000 REPLACING THROTTLE BODY AND FUEL FILLER NECK, WHICH THEY CLAIMED HAD A LEAK IN IT AND WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. SINCE THEN, I HAVEN'T HAD ANY ISSUES, UNTIL YESTERDAY. AGAIN, I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND MY MAINTENANCE LIGHT CAME HOME, CAR STARTED SHAKING AND COULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS I'M AFRAID EVERY TIME I MAKE A TURN IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC THAT MY CAR IS GOING TO LOSE POWER AND I'M GOING TO GET T-BONED. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, DRIVING DOWN A STATE HIGHWAY, IT STOPPED RESPONDING TO PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR.A LIGHT ON THE DASH ADVISED ME TO CHECK THE MANUAL. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, TURN OFF THE ENGINE, THEN RESTART IT, WHICH RESET THE THROTTLE AN ALLOWED ME TO CONTINUE HOME. THIS PROCESS WAS REPEATED THREE TIMES ON THE INTERSTATE ON MY WAY TO WORK. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM IN JANUARY, WHEN THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM, AND SENT ME HOME IN A FAULTY VEHICLE, ONLY TO HAVE IT DELIVERED TO THEM VIA TOW TRUCK A DAY LATER, RESULTING IN THEM REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY. FIVE MONTHS LATER, I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, SO THEY WONT REPLACE IT. THEY DO, HOWEVER WANT TO CHARGE ME A $120 DIAGNOSTIC FEE, AFTER I TOLD THEM EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THIS HAS PUT MY LIFE IN DANGER A TOTAL OF SIX TIMES, TO DATE. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL.
WHEN DRIVING MY CAR THE ENGINE WILL GO TO IDLE WITH NO WARNING. I CAN BE MAKING A TURN, ACCELERATING, OR JUST CRUISING AT SPEED. THIS HAS BEEN RECALLED ON MOST ALL OTHER FORD VEHICLES. I COULD JUST GET IT REPLACED, BUT THE ISSUES IS NOT ONLY THE THROTTLE BODY, ITS THE PROGRAMMING. IF IT FINDS AN ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY IT GIVES UP, AND STALLS. IN THE RECALLED FORDS WITH THIS THEY HAVE CHANGED THE PROGRAMMING SO IT KEEPS TRYING TO ACCELERATE, NOT JUST GIVE UP. WITH THAT BEING SAID THERE IS NO POINT TO CHANGE IT, IT WILL ONLY HAPPEN AGAIN AFTER I SPEND $1000 TO FIX IT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS! THE FIRST TIME I WAS MAKING A LEFT IN TO TRAFFIC AND IT CUT OUT, LUCKY FOR EVERYONE THEY HAD ENOUGH TIME TO STOP BEFORE I GOT T-BONED MY 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
I WAS DRIVING TO WALMART WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DROPPED FROM 45MPH TO LESS THAN 3MPH AND NO MATTER WHAT INPUT WAS GIVEN TO THE GAS PEDAL THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT REACT. THE TACK WAS UNDER 900 AND ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH A WARNING CAME UP LOOKING LIKE A WRENCH. ONCE I PULLED OVER TRIED TO DO A VEHICLE REPORT AND THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO DO A MAINTENANCE CHECK. SHUT OFF ENGINE AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE; NO PROBLEMS RESTARTING THE VEHICLE AND NO MEMORIES OF WHY THE ENGINE DID WHAT IT DID (CALLED "LIMP HOME STATUS"). THERE IS ALSO NO MEMORY WITHIN THE PCM ABOUT THE VEHICLE GOING INTO THIS MODE OR WHY.THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS IF I WAS ON A HIGH WAY. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALS HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING; ALL WITH SAME RESOLUTION. THE VEHICLE HAS NO IDEA WHY IT WENT INTO LIMP HOME AND NO MEMORY OF THAT STATUS AFTER RESTART.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 FORD EDGE WHEN I WENT TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO PUSH. THE CAR DID NOT WANT TO STOP, IT SLOWED BUT KEPT ROLLING FORWARD WHILE I WAS STOMPING ON THE BRAKES. IT DID IT AGAIN WHEN I WAS TRYING TO PARK AT A RESTAURANT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS STUCK AND I KEPT ROLLING FORWARD TILL THE PEDAL GAVE AND SUNK TO THE FLOOR BOARD AND THE CAR FINALLY JERKED TO A STOP. AFTER THOSE 2 INCIDENTS MY HUSBAND DROVE IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN TOWN, WHILE HE WAS DRIVING IT HE ALMOST REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIM. THE DEALER TESTED THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND IT FAILED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS THAT THE BRAKES WERE GOING BAD, ALL OF A SUDDEN I COULDN'T STOP MY CAR, I'M REALLY CORNERED THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND THAT I MAY END UP IN AN ACCIDENT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
AT LEAST FIVE SEPARATE TIMES, WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED, MY 2013 FORD EDGE WILL BEGIN TO HESITATE AND SHUDDER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGINS TO FLASH AND THEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOSES POWER. I CAN BARELY KEEP THE VEHICLE GOING AT ABOUT 20 MILES AN HOUR. I CAN GENERALLY COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OR FREEWAY. I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND LET IT SIT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE I CAN TURN IT BACK ON AND RESTORE POWER TO DRIVE IT. IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE INTO THE FORD DEALER SERVICE THREE TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEY CANNOT DIAGNOSE AND REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. DESPITE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON, THE COMPUTER IS THROWING NO ERROR MESSAGES. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE AND SCARY SITUATION. I REFUSE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AGAIN. TO DO SO WOULD PUT MYSELF IN DANGER, MY PASSENGERS AND OTHER DRIVERS IN DANGER. I HAVE APPLIED TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR A BUY BACK UNDER THEIR "REACQUISITION PROGRAM" BUT WAS TOLD ON JANUARY 8, 2015 THAT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT QUALIFY UNDER CALIFORNIA LEMON LAW. I WAS GIVEN NO EXPLANATION OR OPPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS THIS DECISION WITH FORD. AT LAST SHE MANAGED TO COAST THE CAR TO THE ROADSIDE AND CALLED ME FOR HELP. I ARRIVED IN ABOUT 20 MINS, CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AND COOLANT TEMP BUT FOUND NOTHING WRONG. SO I RESTARTED THE CAR AND THIS TIME IT COULD ACCELERATE AS USUAL. AFTER GETTING HOME I CONTACTED THE FORD ROADSIDE ASSIST AND HAD THEM TOW THE CAR TO THE NEARBY DEALER. THERE THEY SCANNED THE CAR BUT ALL TESTS PASSED AND NO CODE HAD BEEN RECORDED. THE EXPLANATION GIVEN BY THE FORD HOTLINE IS THAT THE BOA(BRAKE OVER ACCELERATOR) FEATURE REDUCES ENGINE POWER DURING OFF-IDLE DRIVING WHEN THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS ARE APPLIED SIMULTANEOUSLY. I THINK THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. I ALSO TRIED TO STEP ON BOTH THE BRAKE AND GAS WITH ONE FOOT BUT THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AND APPROACHED A STOP SIGN. WHEN DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES, THE ACCELERATOR WAS STUCK AND DID NOT SLOW DOWN. THE VEHICLE RAN THROUGH THE STOP SIGN, STRUCK A FENCE AND THEN 2 OTHER VEHICLES BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. *TR
