Water pump failure coolant leaking out of it Was driving at 10mph in parking garage when temperature gauge went to hot on cluster instrument everyone was ok had have had vehicle for about a month before breakdown private dealer did say there were no issues car has not been checked by a certified dealership.

The contact stated that the check engine warning light was flashing. The driver was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact stated that his wife turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle was on LIMP Mode. The contact's wife was able to drive to the residence. A mobile mechanic diagnosed the vehicle at the residence and informed the contact that there was a misfire in cylinder #2. The mechanic advised the contact that the failure could be related to the coil packs, the fuel injectors, or the fuel lines. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

Liquid was leaking below the 2013 Ford Edge engine in our garage. A reputable independent repair center checked it out and found it to be the water pump leaking; which is located inside the Ford Cyclone engine. The engine would need to be taken apart to replace the defective water pump. It was explained to me that driving the vehicle may cause water to mix into the oil causing even more problems. I checked with a local Ford service center and was told they only have one person who can do this type of job and it would be over a month before it could be done. I opted for the reputable independent repair center who could do it in a week. The vehicle has been driven only 60,663 miles and is well maintained. The repair was done [XXX] and the cost of the repair was approximately $2,000. A certified letter was sent to James Farley (CEO & President of Ford) on [XXX] asking for reimbursement of the $2,000 due to the defective water pump. Shortly after sending the letter, Ford customer service emailed and asked for more information. More information was sent and am still waiting for a response No warning lights came on, the part has been disposed of and not was not inspected by Ford, Police or insurance reps. While driving the 2013 Edge Sport/vehicle just stalls out, tool light appears on for a couple of seconds then shuts off, vehicle doesn't accelerate, and then vehicle shuts off. Vehicle does start back up. This happen more than one occasion. Called dealership - Waiting to get my vehicle in the shop. Very dangerous because I was in the middle lane and almost got rear-ended and but myself and my son in danger along with other drivers. No prior engine light or any other light on beforehand.
I took very good care of my car's engine and while driving on the highway the engine block cracked open immediately shutting the car down, almost causing a crash and spilling oil all over the road for no apparent reason. There were no issues with the engine and no check engine lights were on.

My 2013 Ford Edge leaks a pinkish fluid. After taking it to two mechanics, they have determined the water pump is leaking onto the engine which could potentially cause a fire. The repair costs has been quoted at least $3,000. There have been over 100,000 reports of this failure for this vehicle. Why hasn't there been a recall?

The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the water pump had failed causing fluid to leak from the engine and the water pump needed to be replaced. Driving along normally, the Wrench Indicator light comes on and the vehicle looses all engine power and until you turn the vehicle off, it will only run at about 2 mph. This has happened several times over a period of about four weeks. Each time this occurred , the vehicle began working normally after it was turned off and turned back on. The car was taken twice to a local repair shop in Ocean View DE. In each instance, no codes could be recovered and the malfunction didn't occur while they were troubleshooting. I was advised to take it to a Ford Dealer. We took it to the Boulevard (Preston) Ford dealership in Georgetown DE. It was in their shop for 5 days and they also could not identify the problem. We were told that they ren diagnostics on it and test drove the vehicle twice while it was in their hands.

2013 Ford Edge "Water pump" The Water pump is driven off the timing chain. When the water pump fails it either leaks into the engine on early models or it throws the timing out. The dealer wants $2500.00 to replace the water pump because of all the labor too get to the pump inside of engine. You have to pull the timing chain cover. Remove most of the engine to get to it. When the timing is knocked off from the pump, Valves hit pistons. Now you have to pull heads and replace bent valves. Duel overhead cams. If the pump leaks coolant into engine, Game over! Milk shake! The engine bearings are gone. New Engine! This is without a doubt the worst designed engine out there. They could have made the pump to be driven from the outside of the timing cover from the serpentine belt. It has two belts! This is an engineering cluster f**k! Good Luck!

The vehicle began to roll forward and veered off the road. In a panic, the contact exited the vehicle from the driver's side door. She stated that the driver’s side rear tire rolled over her right leg however, she suffered no injuries. A police report was not filed. The contact called a relative to assist her and the relative was able to restart the vehicle and drove to an independent mechanic. The independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with a defective timing chain which resulted in engine failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and requested pictures of the engine to start an investigation. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 165,000
Engine dies on road when engine has not reached maximum engine operating temperature in most cases. Engine dies-pull over to curb-put in park-engine restarts-operates normally after shut down. Has happened 4 times-could be dangerous- last time died with another vehicle close behind. Possible wreck event could take place under these conditions.

DRIVING HEARD A CLUNK SOUND AND CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE. GOING 50 MPH ON STRAIGHT ROADWAY. THE 'WRENCH' LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE CONTINUED IN LIMP MODE. PULLED OVER AND PUT ON EMERGENCY FLASHERS. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY PUT ON MACHINE TO CHECK CODES AND FOUND NOTHING AND THERE WAS ERROR NO CODE STORED. BEFORE THEY CAN DO ANYTHING TO FIX VEHICLE THEY NEED IT TO REPLICATE ERROR. THE WRENCH LIGHT IS OUT, BUT NOW WORRIED TO DRIVE BECAUSE NOTHING WAS RESOLVED.

SMELLING FUMES INSIDE THE CAR WHEN DRIVING AND IT LINGERS THE VEHICLES IS PARKED, EVEN SMELL FUMES INSIDE THE CAR THE NEXT DAY. SMELLS LIKE EXHAUST FUMES. IT OCCURS WHETHER I'M ON THE STREET OR HIGHWAY.
SINCE JULY OF 2019 UNTIL I HAD IT REPAIRED END OF JANUARY 2020. MY CAR WOULD SHUT OFF(THE ENGINE) COMPLETELY GO INTO LIMP MODE-FIVE TIMES IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS THANK GOD THE DRIVERS BEHIND ME WERE ALERT ENOUGH TO NOTICE MY CAR GO INTO LIMP MODE-I COULD'VE BEEN KILLED-LITERALLY IT WAS 55 MILES PER HOUR I WOULD GO OR SOMETIMES 25 MPH-I TOOK IT TO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERS AND IT WAS STATED WAIT TIL A LIGHT GOES ON SO THEY COULD MAKE A DIAGNOSIS OR COPY A CODE-WELL SOON AS I STARTED THE ENGINE IT WOULD BE DRIVABLE TIL BOOM IT WOULD SHUT OFF AGAIN IN COUPLE OF WEEKS WITH NO WARNING. FINALLY, I DID SOME RESEARCH ABOUT THE THROTTLE BODY AND GUESS WHAT TOLD A DEALER TO REPLACE IT AND HASN'T SHUT OFF SINCE. THANK GOD I DID MY OWN RESEARCH-STATES THERE ARE CURRENTLY RECALLS BUT GUESS WHAT ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVEN'T COMPLAINED ABOUT THE 2013 EDGE FOR IT TO BE ON THE RECALL LIST-ITS AN EASY FIX-AND MY SONS COULD HAVE LOST A MOTHER-HUSBAND COULD'VE LOST A WIFE AND ELDERLY PARENTS LOOSE THERE PRIMARY CAREGIVER ALL BECAUSE OF A PART WHICH IS AN EASY FIX. THE SPEED OF MY CAR WAS LIMITED TO NO MORE THAN 15 MPH. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENDED IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT ON THE FREEWAY. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER AND THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY (ETB). THIS COMPONENT WAS RECALLED IN CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 16B23. HOWEVER, IT WAS ONLY ISSUED FOR 2011-2012 MODEL YEAR EDGE AND MKX VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 3.5L OR 3.7L ENGINES. GIVEN THE SEVERITY OF THIS ISSUE, IT SEEMS THAT THE RECALL SHOULD BE LOOKED AT FOR THE 2013 FORD EDGE AS WELL.
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION FAILS TO SHIFT INTO 5TH OR 6TH GEAR CAUSING EXCESSIVE RPMS, NOISE, AND SHAKING TO THE FRAME AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50 MPH. THIS COULD BE POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS AND CAUSE SEVERE TRANSMISSION DAMAGE OVER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME IF NOT REPAIRED.

THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION. DRIVING AT 45MPH CAR SUDDENLY SLOWS TO 2 MPH. SHUT OFF CAR START AGAIN, SAME THING HAPPENS. WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON. FORD HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE ON EARLIER FORD EDGE MODELS BUT DOES NOT ON THE 2013 EDGE. THIS IS THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM AND REPAIR ( FORD SERVICE DIAGNOSED) AT A COST OF $600.00. VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM TO OCCUR SUDDENLY SLOWING TO A CRAWL IN FAST MOVING TRAFFIC. SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL.
2013 FORD EDGE LIMITED 45K MILES TAMPA FL - CAR WILL RANDOMLY GO INTO LIMP MODE WITHOUT WARNING AT ANY TIME, ALL LIGHTS ON DASH COME ON ALONG WITH THE WRENCH. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, TWO ON A BUSY 4 LANE CITY STREET ABOVE 40 MPH AND THE LAST WAS WHILE MERGING ONTO THE INTERSTATE ABOVE 50 MPH. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT WILL EVENTUALLY RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. ONCE IN LIMP MODE I WILL HAVE TO PULL OVER, STOP AND RESTART THE CAR AT WHICH POINT THE CAR DRIVES NORMAL. DEALER CAN'T REPLICATE THE FAULT, SO THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THROUGH 75K MILES BUT CAN'T USE THAT EITHER AS THE FORD DEALER CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THROUGH RESEARCH I FOUND THE SAME SYMPTOMS ON OTHER FORDS WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY WAS AN ISSUE INCLUDING MY YEAR EDGE. FORD DID A RECALL ON A BUNCH BUT MY YEAR AND MODEL WERE NOT INCLUDED. CLEARLY FORD NEEDS TO EXPAND THEIR RECALL AS THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE.
THE 2013 FORD EDGE SE HAS HAD THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING TWICE. ONCE ON A TWO LANE ROAD AND ONCE ON I 95 INTERSTATE WITH OUR FAMILY IN IT. LUCKILY, WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. WHEN IT SHUTS DOWN IT SHOWS WRENCH SYMBOL ON DASH AND SAYS SEE USERS MANUAL. THEN THE CAR RESTARTS AND DRIVES NORMALLY UNTIL THE NEXT EVENT. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AND WE WILL TAKE THE CAR IN TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. MANY WEB THREADS HAVE POINTED TO THE THROTTLE BODY AS BEING DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED. THEN THE ISSUE STOPS. HOPEFULLY THIS DESCRIPTION HELPS ANOTHER FAMILY FROM BEING INJURED ON THE ROADWAYS. IT IS UNDERSTANDABLE THAT CARS WILL HAVE ISSUES BUT ONCE FORD HAS NOTICE OF THIS PROBLEM WE HOPE THEY RESOLVE IT IN A TIMELY MANNER. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY WITH AN EVAP. LEAK CODE. WE'VE CHECKED ALL OF THE POSSIBLE ISSUES AND CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM.
WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DIE BUT WOULD NOT MOVE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS ONCE IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND ONCE AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO TO CAUSE THE PROBLEM OR PREVENT IT. DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY FOR $524.00
VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN SHORT DISTANCE IN TOWN (LESS THAN 10 MILES IN 10-20 DEGREE WEATHER), NO WARNING LIGHTS NO OVERHEATING OR SMOKE. 10 MINUTES AFTER CAR WAS PARKED AND SHUT OFF, CAR IGNITED IN DRIVEWAY IN ENGINE. OIL HAD NEVER EVEN BEEN CHANGED SINCE BOUGHT USED FROM DEALER A FEW MONTHS PRIOR; HAD PUT ON LESS THAN 2000 MILES SINCE PURCHASED. TOTAL LOSS.
ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 9, 2019, MY 2013 FORD EDGE REPORTED AN "OVERHEATED COOLANT" MESSAGE AND WITHIN 2 SECONDS THE ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED, THE CAR IMMEDIATELY LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND BEGAN DECELERATING WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH ON A BUSY ROAD DURING NIGHT TIME RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THIS ENDANGERED MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHER MOTORISTS THAT HAD TO QUICKLY AVOID HITTING MY CAR. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO APPLE FORD DEALERSHIP IN COLUMBIA MD AND THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THE INTERNAL WATER PUMP HAD FAILED THAT DIRECTLY IMPACTED THE CAR PERFORMANCE ISSUES AND THE GRINDING NOISE. TO FIX THE WATER PUMP, HE STATED IT WOULD TAKE 17 LABOR HOURS TO REPAIR IT DUE TO HOW FORD DESIGNED THE WATER PUMP BEHIND THE ENGINE. ALSO, THIS REPAIR IS CAUSING ENGINE PROBLEMS. BOTTOM LINE HERE IS THAT THIS FLAWED DESIGNED IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD SHOULD RECALL THE FORD EDGE TO FIX THIS WATER PUMP PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DIES.
OUR 2013 FORD EDGE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM THREE TIMES IN A MONTH, TWICE ON FLAT ROADS, ONCE ON AN INCLINE/BRIDGE. YOU CAN'T PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART, YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, THEN THE CAR WILL START AGAIN. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, AS THE CAR IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL WITH NO POWER ANYTHING...ESPECIALLY WHEN IT HAPPENS ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHILE GOING 65 MPH, WITH A NARROW SHOULDER ON A BRIDGE, WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR (LIKE IT DID TODAY). THERE ARE NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES SO THERE ISN'T MUCH TO GO ON, YOU JUST HAVE TO START GUESSING AT THE SOLUTION. IT IS OBVIOUS THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM, THIS BOARD IS FILLED WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ISSUE PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE SERVICE MANGER WAS ADVISED BY THE FORD CORPORATE OFFICE TO SEAL ALL THE HOLES, ESPECIALLY BY BOLTS WHERE ANY ODOR COULD ENTER THE VEHICLE FROM UNDERNEATH. THE HOLES WERE SEALED, BUT FUMES STILL ENTERED THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED MANY TIMES BY THE CONTACT, BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE ENGINE IS HOT OR COLD, BRAND OF GAS USED OR LENGTH OF TIME OR MILES DRIVEN. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT TWICE. THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
TRAVELLING AT 70 MPH ON FREEWAY, YELLOW WRENCH SHOWS AND VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN TO 2-5 MPH VERY QUICKLY. UNABLE TO ACCELERATE OR STEER. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FORD NEEDS TO RECTIFY. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND NO ERROR CODES OR RECURRING PROBLEM AT DEALERSHIP. THIS IS ALSO A PROBLEM AS HOW DO YOU HAVE A MASSIVE DECELERATION AND WARNING LIGHTS WITHOUT AN ERROR CODE REGISTERING.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH CRUISE SET A 70 MPH. I FELT THE CAR JERK AND LOOKED DOWN TO SEE THE ORANGE WRENCH IN THE CONTROL PANEL. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER AND ACCELERATION. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE SHOULDER/COASTING TO GET OFF A VERY LARGE BRIDGE. DURING THIS PROCESS I ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND TRY TO RESTART IT AND IT WOULD NOT. ONCE I GOT THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER, I PLACED IT IN PARK AND TURNED IT COMPLETELY OFF. AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. IT STARTED FINE AND RAN FINE THE REST OF THE WAY TO MY EXIT...WHICH WAS ABOUT 37 MILES. (I DID NOT USE THE CRUISE AGAIN) I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO O'REILLYS FOR THEM TO CHECK THE CODE AND THERE WAS NOT ANYTHING ACTIVE OR INACTIVE. THE ALSO CHECKED MY BATTERY, ALTERNATOR AND STARTER AND FOUND THOSE TO BE IN PERFECT CONDITION. I'VE ONLY OWNED THE CAR 30 DAYS SO I WILL BE CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP.

2ND TIME IN MONTH THIS VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IN PERFECT ROAD CONDITIONS. JUNE 17TH 2017 AND JULY 16TH 2017 MY VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WITH A PICTURE OF A WRENCH. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD THAT WILL GET SOMEONE KILLED AND HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED. MUST FIX ASAP

TURNED ENGINE OFF, WAITED FEW MINUTES, STARTED BACK UP NORMALLY. DEALER UNABLE TO PULL ERROR CODE. HOWEVER, RESEARCH AND COMPLAINTS FILED ON-LINE SHOW THIS IS RECURRING PROBLEM WITH FORD ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THIS IS DEFINATELY A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND FORD IS PUTTING ITS CUSTOMERS AT RISK FOR ACCIDENTS.

DEALERSHIP STATED NO ERROR CODES WERE STORED, AND RECOMMENDS REPLACING THROTTLE BODY FOR $700+ BASED ON THEIR HISTORY WITH SIMILAR SITUATIONS.

I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD PROMISED 2,000 TO BE SHIPPED OUT THIS WEEK. THAT SEEMS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT FORD KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM. AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND COMPLETELY RESARTING THE CAR, EVERYTHING WORKS FINE AGAIN UNTIL SOME RANDOM MOMENT WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN WITH TOTAL POWER LOSS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED AND THEY RAN DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY SUGGESTED THAT MAYBE IT WAS SOME BAD GASOLINE. WE REQUESTED THEM TO DRAIN THE TANK COMPLETELY. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, AFTER EXPERIENCING NO PROBLEMS, THE SAME PROBLEMS BEGAN TO OCURR MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET I BECAME AWARE OF OTHER FORD DRIVERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING ISSUE AND IT SEEMED TO ME THAT THE COMMON PROBELM WAS THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. I DECIDED TO GO AHEAD AND PAY TO HAVE THAT COMPLETELY REPLACED. IT'S ONLY BEEN A WEEK SINCE I REPLACED THAT PART, SO FAR, NO PROBLEMS, BUT IT'S TOO EARLY TO SAY FOR SURE IF IT IS RESOLVED. I BELIEVE THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED DRIVERS OF THIS ISSUE AND RECALLED THE VEHICLES AND REPLACED THE PART FREE OF CHARGE, BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED.

THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP 6 TIMES FOR REPAIR. SO FAR, THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED, A SENSOR WAS REPLACED, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS REPLACED AND SOME WIRING WAS REPLACED. THE LAST TIME THE PROBLEM OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME AFTER THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I SUBSEQUENTLY RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, IT IS TOTALLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I THEN CONTACTED THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AND WAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER. THE FORD REGIONAL SERVICE MANAGER ASSIGNED TO THE CASE FINALLY TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM THERE WAS NOTHING FURTHER THEY COULD DO AND I SHOULD COME AND PICK UP THE VEHICLE.

ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2015 DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 65 MPH THE WRENCH SYMBOL APPEARED ON THE DASH BOARD, A SECOND LATER, THE VEHICLE DECREASED FROM 65 MPH TO 0 MPH, SITTING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC IN THE MIDDLE LANE FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES WITH VEHICLE STILL RUNNING VERY LOW, I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE I WAS ABLE TO TAKE IT TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE, WAS ASKED TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE THERE. AS OF SEPTEMBER 12TH THE VEHICLE IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP, WAITING TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THIS SITUATION IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND OTHERS WHO MAY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. ON AUGUST 8TH, 2015 AT ABOUT 4:45 PM, I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AND MY VEHICLE STOPPED AND LOST ALL POWER. MESSAGE I RECEIVED WAS "NO OIL TO ENGINE". I TRIED TO START MY 2013 EDGE BUT HAD NO LUCK. I CALLED ROAD ASSISTANCE FOR A TOW TRUCK AND THE VEHICLE WENT TO THE MANKATO FORD DEALERSHIP. I GOT THE VEHICLE BACK ON AUGUST 11TH AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT AND NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND I DO WISH FORD WOULD DO A RECALL OF THE EDGE AND ESCAPES. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME AND A VEHICLE WILL STOP AND GET HIT BY A SEMI AND SOMEONE WILL BE KILLED AS A RESULT.

I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF, I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE WITH CARS FLYING BY. I PUT HAZARDS ON AND SLOWLY MOVED TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND COMPLETELY SHUT OFF THE CAR. I WAS VERY SCARED BEING STUCK ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE WITH VEHICLES GOING PAST ME AT 70 MILES AN HOUR AND I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A DEADLY ACCIDENT. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AND GET OFF THE FREEWAY AND SLOWLY DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP AT 30 MILES AN HOUR. THE DFFECTIVE PART THE DEALER SAID WAS THE THROTTLE BODY, WHICH IS A PART THAT WAS RECALLED ON THE FORD ESCAPE 2009-2013 AND ON THE 2009 - 2013 FORD FUSION 2009-2013 MERCURY MARINER 2009 -2013 MERCURY MILAN. MY CAR IS FORD EDGE 2013 , THE THROTTLE BODY PART IS AN OBVIOUS EXTENSIVE ISSUE WITH FORD.

VEHICLE IS STALLING AT RED LIGHT AND ON THE FREEWAY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSTICS SYSTEMS SUGGESTS THE THROTTLE BODY IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE BUT FORD REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
THERE WERE TWO INCIDENTS INVOLVING LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WHILE ACCELERATING IN TRAFFIC. I DO NOT HAVE THE DATE OF THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, BUT IT WAS APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH BEFORE THE SECOND OCCURRENCE. BOTH TIMES, AS I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT, THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT HAD NO POWER AND I DRIFTED TO A STOP. THE WARNING MESSAGE LIGHT WAS A PICTURE OF A WRENCH. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS ON A TWO-LANE ROAD WITH DEEP DITCHES ON BOTH SIDES, AND THERE WAS NO OTHER PLACE TO STOP BUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. FORTUNATELY, CARS BEHIND ME STOPPED IN TIME. THE SECOND TIME, I WAS ACCELERATING UP A HILL ON A FOUR-LANE ROAD WITH MIDDLE TURN LANE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT TO THE TURN LANE AND STOP THERE. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR BOTH TIMES, POWER WAS RESTORED. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, WE TOOK THE CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP THE FOLLOWING DAY. THERE WERE NO CODES, BUT FROM THE WARNING LIGHT, THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. ON THE SECOND OCCURRENCE, MY HUSBAND AND I IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE. THEY WERE ABLE TO READ A CODE AND IT WAS TROUBLE CODE P2111, THROTTLE ACTUATOR "A" CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK OPEN. THE FORD DEALER INDICATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM AND THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY ISSUES. BOTH TIMES, IT WAS A FRIGHTENING AND DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE INVOLVED INJURIES, IF THE CAR(S) FOLLOWING REAR-ENDED THE VEHICLE. *TR
I PARKED THE VEHICLE IN THE DRIVEWAY ON THE 11/23/2014 , L HAD TO BACK UP A LITTLE BIT THEN PARKED. WHEN L WAS GOING TO THE GARBAGE BIN L NOTICED OIL ON THE GROUND, WHICH WAS NEVER THERE. I TOUCHED THE GROUND WITH MY FINGER AND SMELT IT, REALIZED THAT IT WAS FRESH MOTOR OIL. THIS IS A 2013 VEHICLE. ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND COOLANT HIGH TEMPERATURE SAID ON THE DASHBOARD. MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME AND I CHECK THE ENGINE COOLANT RESERVOIR AND FOUND IT EMPTY. I WENT AND GOT MY FLASHLIGHT AND SAW COOLANT LEAK UNDER THE ENGINE WHERE THE ENGINE BASE COVER IS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND SPOKE TO MY SALESMAN ANDREW AND HE ADVISED ME TO PURCHASE A COOLANT AT AUTOZONE AND KEEP THE RECEIPT AND BRING THE CAR TO THE DEALER FIRST THING IN THE MORNING SO THEY COULD HAVE IT CHECK. I AM JUST VERY DISAPPOINTED DUE TO THE CAR HAS BARELY BROKEN IN 744 MILE ONLY AND JUST 3 WEEKS OLD AND I AM GETTING THIS KIND OF PROBLEM. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING OUR 2 MONTHS OLD CAR THAT TIME. TOGETHER WITH OUR KID, WE WERE THANKFUL IT HAPPENED JUST AFTER WE EXITED THE FREEWAY. HE RIGHT AWAY SWITCH THE HAZARD LIGHT BUT FORTUNATELY NO ONE IS BEHIND US. HE TURNED THE KEY TO OFF AND SECONDS LATER SWITCH IT ON TO START THE CAR, IT STARTED SMOOTHLY BUT LIVING AN ENGINE CHECK LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD. WE PARKED AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID WE REFUELED IT WITH WRONG GASOLINE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS, AFTER TWO MONTHS OF FILLING IT! I DON'T BELIEVED THEIR CONCLUSION. THE 1ST TIME MY ENGINE SHUT OFF WAS AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN INTO A NEIGHBORHOOD DRIVING SLOWLY LOOKING FOR AN ADDRESS. THE SECOND TIME WAS WHILE PULLING INTO MY OFFICE PARKING LOT; AGAIN AT A SLOW SPEED AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. BOTH INSTANCES MADE STEERING IMPOSSIBLE. I TOOK MY EDGE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR BOTH OCCURRENCES, HOWEVER THEY CLAIM ONLY ONCE!! I WAS TOLD THE 1ST TIME THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THIS MOST RECENT INSTANCE THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR 2 DAYS, DROVE IT INTERMITTENTLY FOR 91 MILES AND COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, THEREFORE TELLING ME SORRY OH WELL, IF WE CANNOT PRODUCE THE PROBLEM THERE IS NOTHING TO FIX.
