The sliding knob that opens the hidden compartment behind your radio has melted and is leaving black residue on your hands and dashboard. This appears to be a widespread issue affecting multiple vehicles. Fixing this will likely require replacing the entire compartment assembly since replacement knobs aren't readily available separately.

There is a recall on the brake booster on the 2014 Malibu manufactured in 2013 my car is a 2013 and I have the same issue.i have had multiple things wrong.I was driving and had no brakes at all I had to push hard and it finally stopped. While driving down the road the check engine light comes on and a warning message comes across the screen saying "engine power reduced service stability trac now" the car then goes into limp mode. This has happened 3 times since I bought it in March of 2023. If I shut the car off and it sits for 45 minutes to an hour and start it back up the check engine light is still on but the stability trac light is off and she drives fine. I have taken it into the shop 5 times. Everytime it's been in the shop a part has been replaced but it is still happening. It drives great with no problem until that light comes on.

My daughters 2013 Chevy Malibu sporadically for no reason shuts off when she stop at a stop light or when she is idling. Then it requires her to turn the vehicle off and then back on. Some times it stars right up and she can go and other times it starts up and shuts right back off and other times she will have to do it twice. I find it to be pretty dangerous to for her to be stalled in the middle of a busy road. I also pray that it doesn’t just shut off while she is driving where a car may rear end my daughter. No it has not been verified by any one do to the sporadic times it happens. However as I do my research trying to find a solution to the problem it sound like it is a common occurrence with the 2013 Chevy Malibu. So far there have been no warning lamps triggered. Like I said it is sporadic and there is no rhyme or reason it happens. This is definitely something that Chevy should be forced to recall and fix because it definitely if a major safety issue. If you look up why is my 2013 Chevy Malibu shutting off on the internet you will see that there definitely is a issue with this happening to others since it pops up right away telling you that it is a regularly searched topic. Please help. Thanks for your time

No warm/hot air blowing to the front windshield to defrost during winter months. Hazard to drive especially in the winter months when I need to see out the window. Heater motor works. The heat also builds up inside behind the radio screen compartment causing the radio screen to turn off.

The 2013 Malibu continues to die when coming to a stop at a stop sign/light or at low rate of speed. This poses a major safety risk as when driving down the interstate and coming to a low speed the car will die and at times struggle to restart. This increases the chances of getting hit by moving vehicles. The car has been to a mechanic and confirmed that the car continues to die when coming to a stop or low speed but no engine codes show. This has been a known problem of the 2013 Malibu with no known fix.

2013 Malibu is shutting off on its own while driving, vehicle restarts on its own. This occurs randomly when driving down the road. Some times vehicle is turning, sometimes it is when the vehicle is going straight. This first happened about May 15, 2021. It happened 3 times May 22, 2021. Steering does not work while engine is off. This is a very dangerous. We noticed radio stops working. We took it to Berger Chevrolet May 17,2021. They could not find a problem. They said a while guess would be to change the battery. We did not have battery changed.

WHEN I FIRST GOT THE CAR IT WAS LESS THAN 4 MONTHS OF OWING IT 38,000 MILE, AND I HAD ISSUES. WHEN I WOULD COME TO A STOP AND THE AUTO STOP/START WOULD KICK IN MY CAR WOULD DIE. AND AT ONE TIME IT SMELT LIKE A BURNING RUBBER. THE INITIAL TIME THE CAR DIED AND WOULD NOT START. CALLED DEALERSHIP MATHEWS BUICK IN MARION INDIANA, HAD IT TOWED BUT THEY COULD FIND WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. WELL IT HAPPENED AGAIN NOT A FEW MONTHS LATER THIS TIME BY THE TIME I GOT TO MY HOME THE SERPENTINE BELT BUSTED FROM WHERE THE "AUTO STOP/START FEATURE" LOCKED UP AND BROKE IT IN HALF. SO FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS LATER "THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT" BUT I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT SINCE THEN. NOW MY ENGINE LEAKS DONT KNOW WHY, AND MY CAR WONT EVEN START. I COULD NOT EVEN TELL YOU WHAT THEY FIXED, BUT IT COST ME. I TRIED THE LEMON LAW BUT EVERYTHING HAS TO BE IN A CERTAIN TIME, AND IT HAS TO BE FIXED SO MANY TIMES. I FEEL THE DEALERSHIP SOLD ME A BAD VEHICLE AND KNEW IT!! THIS CAR HAD NOTHING BUT CAUSED ME HEADACHES ALL BECAUSE OF THE AUTO STOP/START FEATURE. BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM MERCHANTS AUTO IN OCT 2019 AND WITHIN A WEEK THE CAR STALLED TO START. I CALLED AROUND NOV 2019 TO SET UP AN APPT TO HAVE IT FIXED. THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE IT SO IT COULDN'T BE FIXED. I WENT BACK ON 2/15/20 AND 5/29/20 AND RECENTLY ON 6/29/20. THEY STILL COULD NOT DUPLICATE OUR CALL STALLING AND THEN SHUTTING OFF WHEN COMING TO A STOP. WE WOULD HAVE TO GIVE IT GAS MOSTLY TO START IT UP.LAST TIME I TOOK IT THERE THEY WERE ABLE TO COME UP WITH $700 WORTH OF CHARGES THAT WERE OUT OF WARRANTY SO I HAD TO PASS BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE $700 AND PLUS THIS WAS STARTING WHEN WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE.I WONDERED WHY THEY COULDNT HAVE COME UP WITH THE SAME CONLUSION THE FIRST TIME THAT I BROUGHT IT IN OR THE 2ND TIME AND THE LADY SAID SHE DIDNT KNOW. I CALLED QUIRK CHEVROLET TO ASK ABOUT RECALL 13142 AND THE PERSON I SPOKE TO , INFORMED ME THAT SINCE MY VIN # DOESN'T FALL UNDER THAT RECALL THAT IT CANT BE REPLACED. THE RECALL DESCRIBES WHAT IS HAPPENING TO OUR VEHICLE AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY I CANT HAVE IT REPLACED WITH THE RECALL THAT IS LISTED FOR MY CAR. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUES FOR 2013 CHEVY MALIBU AND MY CAR IS NOT ECO SO IT SHOULDN'T BE DOING THAT AT ALL. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT FIRST FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE. WHEN WE GOT IN TO LEAVE, IT WAS SLOW STARTING. WE PULLED OUT & NOTICED THE POWER STEERING WAS A LITTLE STIFFER THAN NORMAL. WE DROVE ABOUT 5 MILES TO OUR DESTINATION & THE CAR STALLED COMPLETELY, ALL POWER WAS LOST, INCLUDING OUR DOORS BEING STUCK LOCKED & OUR IGNITION WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION, IT WAS NOT ABLE TO BE STEERED OR ANYTHING. NOTHING WORKED. LUCKILY OUR WINDOWS WERE DOWN AS THE HEAT WAS NEARING 100 DEGREES, IT WAS HOT. THE CAR WAS CARRYING MYSELF, MY HUSBAND, & OUR 2 GIRLS, AGES 8 & 11. MY DAUGHTER HAD TO CLIMB BEHIND THE SEAT TO RELEASE THE EMERGENCY TRUNK LATCH TO OPEN IT. OUR DOORS EVENTUALLY LET US UNLOCK THEM. UPON GETTING A JUMP START BECAUSE WE COULD NOT EVEN GET OUR MENUS UP, IT WEAKLY STARTED BUT IMMEDIATELY DIED AS SOON AS IT WAS DISCONNECTED. WE TRIED TO GET THE JUMP START MENU TO WORK BUT IT SAID IT WAS DISABLED. WE HAD TO WALK THE REST OF THE WAY INTO OUR DESTINATION, OUR VEHICLE WAS FORCED TO BE LEFT ALONG THE ROAD, PARTIALLY IN THE ROAD SINCE WE COULD NOT STEER IT OVER, WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN & KEY IN THE IGNITION SINCE IT WOULD NOT COME OUT. WE HAD TO PAY TO HAVE IT TOWED AN HOUR BACK TO OUR HOME. MY HUSBAND HAD TO WALK THE 5 MILES TO GET HIS TRUCK. WE HAD TO HAVE FAMILY DRIVE THE HOUR LONG TREK TO GIVE US A RIDE AS WE CANNOT ALL FIT IN OUR TRUCK. THIS WHOLE SCENE WAS AN ABSOLUTELY STRESSFUL MESS!

SINCE WE BOUGHT THIS CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON EVERY FEW MONTHS. THE ENGINE HAS BEEN REBUILT TO FIX "A STUCK CYLINDER" AND THE WATER PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN AND IT SEEMS THAT THE CAR HAS NO PICK UP WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS PUSHED. IT SEEMS TO HESITATE. THIS IS THE WORST CARE I HAVE EVER OWNED.
