2003 IMPALA SUSPENSION CROSS-MEMBER - GM (15896260 COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND OTHER CARS COULD LOOSE CONTROL AROUND FAST CURVES ON ROAD
ALUMINUM SUB-FRAME FRACTURED ON LEFT SIDE DRIVER. (CONTROL ARM). REALIZED WHEN REPAIRING TIE RODS. HAVE BEEN RECALLS (312V377000) INVOLVING POLICE VEHICLES, BUT I GUESS CIVILIAN SAFETY ISN'T A PRIORITY. I DO UNDERSTAND WEAR, BUT THIS IS A FAULTY DESIGN, WHICH CAUSED THE ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 197,000.

THERE WAS ALSO A GRINDING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHO STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE AND THEN STALL OUT. THE MOTOR WOULD VIBRATE LIKE IT WAS JUMPING. HARD TO START DIE AFTER PUTTING INTO DRIVE. HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND CONVERTER IN 2011, SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES HAVE BEEN CHANGED. THE CAR HAS BLOWN SENSORS A MONTH AFTER GETTING IT OUT OF THE SHOP. HAVE SPENT OVER 6000 DOLLARS TRYING TO KEEP THE CAR RUNNING AND THE SAME THING KEEPS HAPPENING. *TR

THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE HUB ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. THE LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE AFTER THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC A THIRD TIME. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,878.
I HAVE A 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA THAT KEEPS SHOWING A SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM ALARM. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES SHUT OFF. I HAVE CHECKED THE CODES AND NONE SHOW. HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT COULD BE IN THE WIRING HARNESS OR THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING ON EITHER OR BOTH SIDES. *TR
OUR 2003 IMPALA LS @ 50K MILES HAD A VIBRATION WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THAT GREATLY INCREASED WITH HARDER BRAKING AND ALSO A STEADY VIBRATION FROM THE FRONT END THAT INCREASED AS SPEED INCREASED. MY RETIRED FATHER IN LAW BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR, BRIAN HARRIS CHEVROLET IN BATON ROUGE, LA AND HE FELT THAT HE WAS TREATED POORLY BY THE SERVICE DEPT. WE THEN TOOK THE CAR TO ALL STAR CHEVROLET WHERE WE WERE TREATED PROFESSIONALLY. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEMS, FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS AND WARPED ROTORS, BUT SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR IT UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL IT WAS APPROVED BY THE WARRANTY CARRIER, WHICH COULD TAKE SEVERAL DAYS. THEY SAID THAT RENTAL CAR REIMBURSEMENT WOULD BE MADE IF WARRANTY REPAIR WAS APPROVED. WE PAID A DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND PICKED UP OUR CAR AND THEN TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP THAT WE HAVE DEALT WITH FOR YEARS AND PAID FOR THE REPAIR OURSELVES. THEY RESURFACED THE BRAKE ROTOR AND REPLACED THE LEFT FRONT HUB ASSEMBLY. NOW @ 80K MILES WE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME WARPED ROTOR PROBLEMS AGAIN. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE FIRST WEEK AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE TIRES STARTING MAKING NOISES WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH AND THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN OUT OF ALIGNMENT CAUSING TIRES TO WEAR DOWN. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO DETERMINE ALL FOUR TIRE SHOULD BE REPLACED AT A COST. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED BECAUSE THE CONTACT DID NOT WANT TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT.
